-The outskirts of Sakuramori, early evening-

Wearing a blue t-shirt and black skirt with white tennis shoes and having left all of her familiar accoutrements behind at Sabertooth Guild Hall, Victoria had spent four hours walking but had arrived on the outskirts of Sakuramori at last. She stood just off to the side of a gate hung with festive paper lanterns and let a group of locals pass by on their way to the festivity area liberally festooned with vendor booths, vendors selling food, and other attractions. Victoria was not ready to partake of the festivities yet because she felt a wave of emotion. Something about Sakuramori kept bringing the brunette back and kept making her think about the past.

Victoria remembered the old days of Black Rose and how Sakuramori was their protectorate. She remembered how she worked alongside Itazura and Seth Augusta during the "Night of Eternal Darkness" incident that was a last hurrah for Black Rose, unbeknownst to Victoria. She remembered her first meeting with Abigail Windstrider, the young mage who at first seemed to be an enemy until she eventually became something resembling a friend. She remembered the more recent incident where she encountered and subdued with her special control over shadows a gang of bandits who had tracked her and her mentor all the way from a remote village that Florence had delivered medical supplies to. To say that Sakuramori was full of history for the brunette would be like saying that the ocean was wet.

Victoria let another group of locals pass by before even thinking to enter the village herself. She got off of Memory Lane and rejoined everyone in the real world. She felt hungry and wanted some pizza, but she doubted that she would find chain restaurant-style pizza at an event in Sakuramori unless said company sent a food truck all the way out here. Victoria might instead have to be satisfied with whatever food was at hand, so it was a good thing that the former street kid was not terribly selective. At least there was a lot of local fare to choose from.

With that thought in mind Victoria finally walked through the gate leading into Sakuramori and gradually wound her way to the festival grounds. Maybe the crowds would not be too thick and Victoria could get something to eat before the winter festival.

The Music Man Comes To Play

It had been quite some time since Baird had actually gone out in the open. After he had lost his wife not too terribly long after she was killed, he didn’t feel the music much for a little while. He needed to pick himself up though and took out his harmonica and started to walk around. He found himself in Sakuramori. For some reason he felt she’d like it here if he were to go here with her. A sad sigh escaped his lips as he shook his head. Of course everything made him think of his wife. And he wasn’t a big drinker, so he couldn’t drown his sorrows away like most men do. Maybe he could do something else he was great at? Try his hand at flirting again. Been a quite a while.

He was wearing an all black outfit. A black V-neck tank top, black jacket over his top, black slacks, with a matching belt and boots on his feet. He had included a couple necklaces with his outfit and decided that was good enough. He would hum some jazz on his harmonica that seemed to just not make sense. Of course, it was his emotions coming through his music. Not making sense of his life right then. He looked around at the festival as things were going on. He watched the kids enjoying themselves and being loud, and the teens going on a date of sorts. Even some adults were doing it too! Jeez… he couldn’t catch a break from this.

While he walked and played his harmonica, Baird noticed someone. He glares over to her, and twitches his lips. He was debating on going over there as himself… or maybe change his face. He thought he was harmless now, right? Maybe there was no hard feelings? A snort came from him as he walked on over casually behind his currant target. Leaning in close to her ear, he smirked. “Too bad you’re wearing blue, over white.” He muses softly. He pulled back fast regardless of what the reaction was, and had a small, sad, smile on his face with his harmonica stuffed in his pocket with both of his hands stuffed in their respective pockets too. “Long time no see, right?” He chuckles softly, shrugging his shoulders. Idle chitchat. He doubted this girl would appreciate it, not after what happened when Nightmare raided Black Rose all that time ago.

Fall Equinox In Sakuramori (Event w/Baird) Empty Re: Fall Equinox In Sakuramori (Event w/Baird)

Post by Victoria Sheridan 21st September 2019, 3:33 pm

After several minutes of listening to the accordion music wafting from a ride where people got into spinning cups and whirled about for three minutes, Victoria was actually having a bit of fun until she felt a somewhat strong magic signature very close by. She wondered if it was one of her Sabertooth guildmates who had decided to attend the festival. It might be Zachariah or Imai, but when she heard the voice speak right into her ear she knew that it was not them. It was someone she loathed beyond words... well, beyond polite words, anyway. The person's identity was confirmed when he made a comment about her shirt being "blue over white", which was a reference to an event that only a few individuals knew about.

Back in her early Black Rose days Victoria had the displeasure of making the acquaintance of a very annoying musician during a raid on Silver Moon Inn by a dark guild. There the musician used his magic instrument to dump a lot of water on Victoria and her guildmate Sassi Luminosa; Victoria then made a snide reference to a wet t-shirt contest. The musician found the reference amusing and had obviously kept it in mind because he referred to the incident just now.

"Yeah, it's been awhile since we last met. It's nice to see you too, Music Man." Victoria said to the individual she had dubbed "Music Man" in words so laden with sarcasm that it was painfully obvious to anyone within earshot. Her skin crawled due to just being around the guy. Her first instinct was to punch him squarely in that smug face of his, but there were a couple of complications that prevented her from acting on that plan. First, the Sabertooth mage was in a public space and would be arrested for assault unless Music Man hit her first and he was too smart to do that. Second, she knew that he had left no evidence of the months-old incident and that she had no current evidence to out him as a dark mage, so it would be her word against his.

Even if Sakuramori used to be Black Rose territory, the town guard would need hard proof of criminal activity before they went after Music Man. Unfortunately for her she did not have any, so she was stuck. Victoria was stuck dealing with the creep in a manner that did not involve the swift and overwhelming application of violence to his face. Oh well. She would have to put up with him for one night before she could get away from him.

"Are you here for the music? The cotton candy? Or do you want to play festival games?" Victoria asked Music Man.

The Music Man Comes To Play

His small smile on his face slowly grew as she seemed to call him his name she dubbed him ages ago. “I still go by that name, funnily enough.” He couldn’t help but muse. His smile dropped down slowly as he sighed, back to a sad smile on his face. He pursed his lips a bit as he leaned his head down to look at his boots. When she asked him his purpose of being here in Sakuramori, he looked up and around. Slowly he shrugged his shoulders. “I guess… the games? Maybe the music more though.” He let out a snort as he let his green eyes glance away from her. He felt absolutely pathetic. He had used his ring he got from the Chairman to hide his Errings Rising mark. That guild he worked part time for was suddenly getting bigger and a little more known lately. He was wanting at least a little peace for a while. Maybe he should have kept on a disguise and walked around like that? Oh well, too late.

He was acting normal compared to everyone else. Which really wasn’t himself. Happy go lucky. Trying his luck might help him get his mojo back. He looks around where they were at. A bunch of random games and stalls were about. He then paused as he snorts to himself and looks back to the girl. “I guess I should apologize honestly. I was playing around back then, and just following my guild. Young and foolish, ya know?” He snorts as he raised an eyebrow. “I promise not to do it again.” He pulled out his hand not holding the harmonica in his pocket and held his pinky out to the girl before him. Technically, these were empty promises from him. He knew what he was doing. He just wasn’t in the right mindset to be him per say.

“Why don’t we go around and see what games they have going on? I’m down for some chill time.” He flashed her one of his charming smiles, hoping she'd be moved by it, even if just a little. Gotta take it one step at a time. They were bear an alley of games and there were various vendors calling out to the festival goers, challenging them at their game. Baird finally removed his harmonica, letting it go back to the void that held his instruments. He saw a few games already, like a table of metal things that looked weird, or what looked like a little shooting range, and plenty more testing skills games. Then there were weird things like guys sitting on stumps or a stall that has a fish in a bowl… he couldn't make sense of that… he then paused as he held his hand out to the girl. "Baird." He introduced himself and smirks to her as he cocked his head slightly to the side, wondering her name, but not asking aloud yet in case she introduced herself.

Fall Equinox In Sakuramori (Event w/Baird) Empty Re: Fall Equinox In Sakuramori (Event w/Baird)

Post by Victoria Sheridan 23rd September 2019, 1:17 pm

Victoria would have liked to think that she had seen so much weird stuff that she could no longer be surprised, but what Music Man just said to her honestly surprised her.

He had actually apologized for the attack on Silver Moon Inn all those months ago. He cited the reason he even went along with the attack was due to what his guild wanted to do. He also promised not to do something like that again. The brunette was not entirely buying it.

Victoria figured that Music Man would try to cover his ass and shift blame when he was confronted by one of his victims without fellow guild members to bail him out. Another reason he was so conciliatory was the vast power difference between the two mages. If the Sabertooth mage were not concerned about property damage and innocent lives she could wipe the floor with the obnoxious musician if she really wanted to. Then something even stranger happened.

The strangest part of all was that he was actually being truthful. Victoria was not sure if she was on the right planet or if she had ended up in one of those weird alternate universe places that comic books used as a setting so often. Was she dealing with an alternate universe Music Man?

Victoria did not know what to make of the situation. She was probably being played like a cheap kazoo, but she felt that the green-haired youth who had introduced himself as Baird was being honest with her on some level. Since Baird had not terrorized anyone here and she did not have any solid evidence that he had attacked the Silver Moon Inn, Victoria would just have to let the matter drop and be civil towards him... at least until he started terrorizing people with those instruments of his again.

"OK, I'm game. Let's get some food and do some festival stuff, Baird." Victoria agreed to the cessation of hostilities for today.

"I'm Victoria." Victoria introduced herself to Baird, who professed to also answer to the moniker she had given him so long ago. She was sure that he had read about her in Sorcerer's Magazine, so further introduction should not be necessary. She still could not believe that she was making nice with Music Man. What was the world coming to?

The Music Man Comes To Play

There was no real response to his apology, but the musician had decided he would take it as a slight acceptance as she didn’t try to murder him or arrest him then and there. The brunette even accepted going to play some games with him. A grin formed on his lips as he nodded. Off to a great start already. He held his arm out to her, to see if she’d take his elbow. “Victoria is a lovely name for a lovely lady.” He says to her as he nods, pretending to tip a hat to her. If she didn’t take his elbow, he didn’t make a fuss and let his arm fall back down to his side. Now he wanted a game to play. Tapping his chin, he let his aqua green eyes travel around the fair grounds and wondered what they should do first. He looked over at a flyer on a post and leaned forward a bit, smirking slightly.

“If you wouldn’t mind, care to join me in sitting by the bonfire later tonight?” He asks with a cheeky grin. There had been a fine print of people allowed to help out in being ‘flashy’. Baird knew flashy. He could do it. He was now looking forward to the bonfire that was going to happen in a few hours. Glancing around, Baird spotted a few games and one of them seemed super familiar to him. “If my memory serves me right… You have great aim, right?” He smirks as he leads her to a shooting ‘range’. Like your typical target shooting range game, one had to shoot at targets to win the prize. The catch was, the targets moved in weird patterns. And as this is a world of magic, the vendor even had the targets floating in the air for more difficulty. One had to shoot them and knock them down.

The green haired man had stopped in front of the game and rubbed his chin a bit. “Win the game win a trophy! Only one per group! Get three trophies, get a prize when you turn them in to the ticket box!” The man behind the counter called out. Baird raised an eyebrow and glanced to Victoria. Would she want to try her luck here at this game? He honestly thought she’d be pretty bomb at it… but if she wanted to try something else, he’d probably follow her to that instead. Most things here weren’t his style. Or at least seemed like they weren’t. He spotted a baking or cooking contest that would be in a few minutes, then an eating one. He patted his stomach as he wasn’t sure if he could even do an eating contest… That would probably be funny to see him doing. Heavens knows Baird wasn’t a cook. He needed his hands for his music.

He shakes his head as he stuffs his hands in his pockets, whistling a little tune, and if there were words to it, he’d probably would sing them. As he thought of that, he started actually mumbling words to his song he whistled.

    “Sweet home River Village
Where the skies are so blue
    Sweet home River Village
Lord, I'm coming home to you”

He mainly mumbled that under his breath, but he continued his light whistling afterwards as he tried thinking up more lyrics to the song. They weren’t in River Village, but they weren’t too terribly far from the village, right? Maybe he’ll have to visit the little thing later on after this silly festival was over. Give his current lady* his full attention so she wouldn’t be upset with him, or at least not so soon. He’ll probably do something to piss her off, but only time would tell.**

Fall Equinox In Sakuramori (Event w/Baird) Empty Re: Fall Equinox In Sakuramori (Event w/Baird)

Post by Victoria Sheridan 27th September 2019, 11:50 pm

"Um, thanks, Music Man. My dad gave me that name. At least the person who's my current dad." Victoria said to Music Man, letting slip a small bit about her family situation. She still could not believe that she was being cordial with a guy she used to absolutely loathe, but stranger things had happened in a world full of people who could use magic. She had dealt with panty thieves in Capital Crocus Mall on two separate occasions, after all.

"I'm not even sure if Victoria's my real name or not." Victoria blurted out without thinking. What she did know about her name was that she was named for a queen in a faraway land, somewhere called... England? Maybe. She could not recall right away if that was true or not. Her name also meant "victory" in a dead language, so she could not quite rule out that origin either.

Her attention drifted for a moment before Music Man flirted with her, something which was both cute and more than a little strange. No guy had ever flirted with her before because she was not supermodel material like Gaia Sabin, Samira Nassar, Masha Dymonrel, Sarah Stone, or Itori were. It was hard to get a boyfriend when one was flat-chested like Victoria.

Now that Victoria had kind-of sort-of had a boyfriend in the form of Baird, she did not know how to act. She kind of liked someone

"Sure, Music- er, Baird. We can sit by the bonfire tonight. I wouldn't mind that at all." Victoria told him with sincerity. If he was not just playing her like a cheap kazoo to gain a future advantage, being around Baird was actually kind of... fun. That was a word that she had never imagined herself using to describe him. Her interest turned towards the target game, which was a game that was right up her alley. The brunette had had a lot of experience with weaponry over her mage career, but this game promised to be far more challenging than her sessions of "Shoot The Outlaws" or "Shoot The Wild Animals" or even "Shoot The Reptilian Mutants Made By A Rogue Scientist." It was a challenge that she was willing to take on.

"Hey Baird, want to do the target game?" Victoria asked the green-haired youth.

Fall Equinox In Sakuramori (Event w/Baird) Empty Re: Fall Equinox In Sakuramori (Event w/Baird)

Post by Faulkner 29th September 2019, 6:38 pm

The Music Man Comes To Play

As the girl had revealed that her ‘current dad’ had named her, Baird raised an eyebrow. “Orphan?” He couldn’t help but question. “My name is one I chose for myself… and one that the nuns used to call me after they found out I could play music well.” He made a rather disgusted looking face as he hated thinking about the orphanage he grew up in when he was younger. It was the worst thing to think of now of all times. He hated that place. And rather glad he laid waste to it all them years ago. How long has it been? Five? Six years? Far too long. And he didn’t have to worry anymore.

Baird noticed that Victoria seemed like she didn’t know what to do with his flirty attitude. Perfect. He listened to her as she agreed to the bonfire later, and smirked. “Great! I’m sure you won’t be disappointed. It should be lovely.” He muses and holds his hands behind his head. As he was challenged to the target game, Baird taps his chin. He did know some gun techniques. Maybe he could get lucky! “First one to get three targets wins? And the floating ones are automatic wins.” He smirks as he points to her. He looked back to the vendor and picked up a gun after paying briefly for a turn. He hated doing this, but it was a small trifle sometimes he had to do sometimes when he’s passing as a good guy.

When the two were ready to begin, Baird began shooting at the targets. The patterns prove to be a bit more difficult than he anticipated and he missed all of his shots, even the floating ones. A frown was on his face as the vendor came up to him. “Nice try buddy. Can’t always impress your girlfriend.” He chuckles as he passes him a trophy. Baird looked at it and shakes his head before he looks to see how well Victoria had done. Regardless of how she did, she would get a trophy as well. And if she managed to hit a target or two, she might get a prize.

Baird looked up to the sky, then to Victoria. “Lets go to the bonfire? Seems there are a lot of people already.” He murmurs as he was slowly making his way there. It actually did take a bit to get to where the bonfire was to be held. The crowds had been atrocious! If Victoria had let him, Baird had even grabbed her hand or wrist, he didn’t pay attention, and lead her along with him, even though he was a decent bit taller than the majority of the people here. When they got to the bonfire, people were singing and dancing and having a good time together. Some were drinking ciders, and eating smores. A snicker escaped his lips as he held up his hand. “Burning Sax.” He says and a saxophone was suddenly in his hands. The saxophone looked rather clearish in the center, but the ends looked like a fire was held over them and stained it blackish and blue. To him it was actually a rather pretty design.

Putting the saxophone to his lips, the musician starts to play a rather faraway song that seemed to fit while the fire was being lit and the sun was starting to fall under the horizon. As he played, three little fire beings emerged from the forming bonfire, hovering above the ground quietly for a moment. He continued to play as the crowd watched the minions. They were talking in hushed tones as his music was playing. Baird seemed to have calmed down as he focused on his music. It was passionate for the fire that was before them, and had a spooky feel to it, more for the time of year. The minions then began to dance about in a circle for all to spectate. They were dancing rather excitedly while they made no sound and seemed to be giggling as they did so. Children near the bonfire started to giggle to the little fire minions and were slowly starting to copy them in the weird dance. Baird glanced over. He didn’t like kids… but they were starting to get others to dance too. Of course he’d earn a trophy that way, right? Sure enough with him showing off his musical skill, someone placed another trophy by his side.

Baird snorts after he finished his song, the fire minions jumping back into the fire when he finished. He couldn’t help but get a warm feeling from seeing others enjoying themselves more from his music, before he looked over to Victoria, wondering what she had thought herself. He let the saxophone disappear again and snickers as he picked up both of his trophies, raising an eyebrow. “You enjoying yourself?” He questions as he glanced over to the fire. It had grown tall by the time he finished his song, and the night had only started to grow darker. More people had gathered by the bonfire, enjoying drinks and smores and other treats around. Baird wondered if he should get himself something to drink. Or if he should ask Victoria if she wanted something… Maybe he should. A thought occurred to him that he was having fun, but he wasn’t having fun. By now, Yuiisai would have thrown a shoe at him or something. And that got things exciting. “Would you like to have a drink? Alcoholic?” He questions with a smirk. Maybe he could get her buzzed with the drink and let her loosen up some.

Fall Equinox In Sakuramori (Event w/Baird) Empty Re: Fall Equinox In Sakuramori (Event w/Baird)

Post by Victoria Sheridan 29th September 2019, 9:25 pm

"Heh heh. You got it." Victoria said to Baird. She was eager to accept the challenge of the target game and paid the fee for a chance to win a trophy. Since she saved her Jewels and hardly ever spent any, she had plenty of money to spare for this game without having to mooch off of her new pal. The brunette would probably have wagered them anyway even if she were running low because the target game looked to be a fair challenge.

"OK little lady, you've got five shots to hit three targets. If you manage to hit a floating one, you win kudos 'cause even good shooters have trouble with those." The booth operator, who was dressed in a cowboy outfit of brown ten-gallon hat, red flannel shirt and blue jeans with a brown leather vest and brown leather boots, told her while passing her a weapon that was pattered after an Old West lever-action rifle but had the barrel of a .22 rifle. Victoria took the weapon into her hands and worked the lever, then aimed at the first target, which was a stationary one lined up in one of three rows of five making for fifteen targets. Just above the stationary targets were five more floating targets that bobbed up and down; one of them even moved in a figure-eight pattern.

Victoria took aim at the third target on the second row and gently squeezed the trigger. The target went TING as it fell backwards and down.

"That's one." The operator said aloud.

Victoria worked the lever to chamber another round, then took aim at the first target on the third row and gently squeezed the trigger. It fell backwards and down with a loud TING, leaving only one more target to hit before she won a trophy.

"That's two. Just one more and you win." The operator offered encouragement. Victoria then worked the lever and chambered another round. Her eyes then drifted to the targets. She could hit one of the stationary ones and win easily, but she wanted a challenge. The brunette also wanted to show off a bit.

Her eyes focused on the target doing figure-eights and she aimed the rifle at the center of its path. Victoria then focused, took a breath, and waited for just the right moment to fire. Her moment came when the target reached the center of its pattern. She squeezed the trigger, fired... and hit!

She had hit the bottom left ring instead of dead center like the first two targets, but it was enough to knock down the target and secure her victory.

"Nice shootin', little lady! It wasn't dead center, but there's no shame in it. Here's yer trophy!" The operator said while passing the trophy to her. Victoria took the trophy and passed the weapon to him with barrel pointing down and he put it safely away. Victoria thanked him for running the game and then made her way to the bonfire to catch up with Baird at what was arguably the highlight of the festival.

    -At the bonfire-

Victoria managed to snag a space in the middle ring of festival-goers standing around the bonfire and dancing as the sun began to lower itself from the sky. She settled in place just in time to see the green-haired musician activate a spell called "Burning Sax" before starting to play the newly summoned saxophone. As soon as he started playing three little creatures in the shape of smaller fires emerged from the bonfire and began to dance themselves. The little fires were an immediate hit with the crowd, particularly the children, who began to do their best to imitate the spinning dance of the fire creatures. Even Victoria was amused by how the little creatures worked the crowd and was impressed by Baird's musical talent.

His saxophone playing had passion to it, passion that easily matched the blazing fire that the festival-goers had clustered around. Baird had genuine musical talent and could do more with the instruments he played than simply make noise and drench people in water with them. When he stopped playing and a trophy was deposited beside him Victoria gave a thumbs-up in his direction and walked over to him.

"That was pretty good, Baird. For a moment I actually thought that you were controlling the fire." Victoria offered a genuine compliment to the musician. When he mentioned alcoholic drinks the brunette was all ears. That was an idea she could get behind.

"I really want a Screwdriver. It's a simple drink with just the right amount of flavor. How about you? What do you like to drink?" Victoria asked Baird about his choice of drink like they had been friends forever. She did not mind spending the festival with him... on the contrary, he was good company. Even if the friendliness was all an act and he was busily plotting her downfall, she would remember the fun they had at the Equinox Festival.

The Music Man Comes To Play

The green eyed musician had noticed the woman as she took all her shots. If he were to be honest, he missed his because he had been watching Victoria and the shots she made. A snicker came from him as he nodded to her for her rather great shooting.

While he was playing at the bonfire, Baird glanced up briefly to see Victoria, and smirked to himself before he began to fully play his saxophone. He didn't need to look at the fire minions while he played. He knew exactly what they were doing. As his tune came to an end, he looked at Victoria with a smirk to her. She liked it, which he wasn’t surprised about. He was a musical genius. He could make music anyone could like. At the compliment about him seeming like he was controlling the fire, it took all his strength to stifle a laugh and keep a straight face.

Her agreeing to an alcoholic drink made Baird snicker some before she asked what he wanted. “Usually I just drink water. But I think I’ll try a screwdriver as well. No more music for the rest of the night.” He chuckles as he leads her over to the drinks vendor. There was a sign that stated that the drinks were free, and he leaned in a little bit to order two screwdrivers for them. When they had their drinks, Baird handed Victoria’s hers, and smiled before he held his up briefly. “Thank you, for accepting me to be your companion this fine Fall Festival.” He smiled before he sipped at the drink. He made a face as he was trying to figure out if he liked the drink or not. It took him a couple more tastes for him to finally accept it, and went to sit with Victoria a bit away from the fire as others were merrily dancing around and enjoying themselves.

“Honestly, I never expected to have much fun coming here tonight. Thought it’d be a massive dud.” He snorts as he glanced slyly to the brunette. “It would be wonderous though, if I could manage to get… I dunno, a kiss, perhaps?” He was trying his luck as he leaned a little closer to Victoria. If she let him get one, he would accept her giving him a kiss on his cheek, him one on hers, or a kiss on the lips.

Fall Equinox In Sakuramori (Event w/Baird) Empty Re: Fall Equinox In Sakuramori (Event w/Baird)

Post by Victoria Sheridan 5th March 2020, 2:06 pm

"It's no problem, really." Victoria said to Baird when the latter thanked her for letting him be her companion for the Fall Equinox Festival. She still could not believe that she had amicably attended a festival with the very same person who had broken into Silver Moon Inn, killed several people, and hit her and Sassy Luminosa with a water attack that doused their upper bodies. That incident was the source of Victoria's "wet t-shirt contest" remark that the green-haired musician had alluded to earlier. It seemed like the past was coming back to haunt her, but that was nothing new because she had never really escaped her own past as a street kid.

Victoria's past as a street kid continued to color her perception of the world around her. She continued to regard the authorities with suspicion and only worked with them when she had to despite being part of a Legal Guild. She continued to see violence as the first and best solution to many a problem with enemies. She took jobs that promised combat because the pay was better than other jobs that were peaceful.

It was hard to be optimistic when one was thrown out on the street at six years old and had to fight for life without anyone to care about her other than a collective of other street kids. It was a rough life of fighting for dignity and food that Victoria would not have wished on anyone. Apparently there was something worth fighting for if she ran from the slavers instead of letting them capture her without a fight. Running for it instead of giving up was what allowed her to meet Lawrence Sheridan and begin turning her life around with his help. With Lawrence's help Victoria learned to read, learned to tend bar for fairly easy money, and learned magic that could help her make a living and defend herself from people who thought she was an easy target just because she was short and slender.

It was not the best life one could have, but it was good enough.

Victoria briefly wondered if even being around the green-haired man could get her into trouble. The Rune Knights or any other authorities who came on the scene and had the slightest evidence of Music Man's misdeeds could arrest her just for associating with him. But something inside of Victoria stirred.

    Today she did not care.

Victoria was conflicted on how to feel about being around Music Man despite all the personal history between them, but right now she just wanted someone who wanted to be around her. It was strange that the brunette felt that way, but it was what it was. Aside from Lawrence Sheridan, Music Man was the first guy to ever really pay attention to her. Maybe that was influencing her judgment, but no one had ever accused Victoria of being smart.

"So you wanna kiss me, huh?" Victoria playfully asked Music Man. There were worse things he could do to her than kiss her.
