The Idol (Job: Riza and Zenshin)

Why is it that whenever I think I'm taking out a good amount of these stupid shadow people, they just multiply into more shadow people and come after me or my creations with double their numbers, why! Zen thought as he watched the acolytes multiply. There was just so many of these things, and if he had to fight more shadow lords before the obvious boss of the dungeon, he might lose too much magic. Or worse, he takes one two many blows by the sword of those things. He wasn't even conscious when he took the business end of that weapon the first time, but he still never wants to feel that ever again. "I'm leaving this up to you Sublime! After that stunt you just pulled, I'm sure you can handle a few more of these guys before you get into any real trouble!" Zen called to his dragon. Responding with a sharp exhale from its nose, Sublime turned and faced the now four enemies in front of him, ready to tear them apart.

All of the acolytes just stood there, as if waiting for the dragon to make a move, probably trying to taunt it, but there was something that these cocky shadow people didn't account for. This particular dragon was the pinnacle of Zenshin's ability to create living, dynamic things, making it all the more powerful than, say, his crocodile or giant tortoise creation, maybe even more than his falcon. With a heavy, slow, swipe with its front, right claws, the shadow acolyte in its path thought that it could block the attack, only to realize a bit too late that this wasn't as easy as it thought. Sublime tore through that monster's defense, completely obliterating it from the fight before taking in another breath and exhaling as hard as it could, blowing a freezing wind to the other two acolytes, the one that spawned the new ones. One of the darn shadow creatures was smart enough to phase out while his buddy was being torn in two.

The frost breath weakened one and flat out destroyed the other one, since it had already taken the same attack at the start of the fight, and now, all that remained were two again. Another situation of the same thing played out, Sublime was able to dodge a shadow acolyte's attack by spinning, but in its sharp jerk, it failed to realize that another acolyte was attacking, so it couldn't even block. Zenshin decided that his dragon could no longer fight, as it was close to dispersing and he hadn't had action in quite some time. "I'll take it from here Sublime. I'll re-create you when you've taken enough time out of combat" he quietly told his creation before putting both his hands on it and causing a huge cloud of water vapor replace the giant dragon.

A fiend came creeping out of the recesses of the room as Riza hovered near the ceiling, and the mage glared at it as though it were rotten cabbage. She released her flight and came crashing down from above, smashing her raised arms into an acolyte's skull with the added force of her momentum. Her heels clicked loudly as she landed on rock, adding to the clinking of the chains, and the acolyte disintegrated into a puff of shadow. She pivoted on her left foot and raised her right, aiming to kick the nearest acolyte's head off, if possible. It hardened itself, however, and Riza's kick didn't do much besides cause her a tingling sensation of heavy impact.  Planting her right foot on the acolyte's hardened body, she kicked off of it and towards the other remaining acolyte, holding her arms above her head and shooting towards it like a spiraling torpedo. She easily broke through it, and the acolyte dissipated into black dust. Riza stopped herself, hovering just above the dirt floor. "Any takers for the next go? No? She dropped to the ground and ran towards the two fiends. Pulling her right arm back, she aimed for a chain-filled punch to the creature's face, but it shrieked and ducked out of the way, scampering off to where its buddy, the other fiend, was standing. Riza's eyes sparkled as she turned and rushed the final acolyte, but the damned thing quickly slid backwards and avoided her attack. Riza kept moving, however, and rounded near the two fiends. One of the fiends jumped on the other, and Riza crossed her arms in front of her and her chains blocked their claws and vise-versa.

Riza jumped back and eyed the two creatures, preparing for another strike. The momentarily forgotten acolyte had slunk forward and was posed to strike at Riza - the woman noticed at the last second and avoided a rough hit, but the creature swiped her backside, flaring up the cuts from her previous skirmish in the room with the clock. It was uncomfortable, to say the least, and Riza was about ready to pull out the big guns. The problem was, she didn't like the idea of using any kind of mega-wind blast while underground. She glanced towards Zenshin and saw his dragon disappear. Maybe this would go by faster if we were both attacking the same monsters... Right? More chances of landing a hit? She had three monsters left on her side - two fiends and an acolyte - he had two something-or-others left (it was dark in there - as if Riza could actually determine what they were at such a distance, pshh). Her violet eyes flickered back to the monsters in front of her, and she figured they could potentially team up once more decided to pop in.

Zenshin was glad that he finally get to fight again after letting his dragon have all the fun for a while, eating and tearing his enemies in half and all of that usually nasty business. Now that Zen thought about it, a few of his spells were needlessly violent when it came to defeating his enemies, but you can't stifle creativity with a magic such as that. He was hoping that the boss creature would show itself soon, because if it was just these acolytes, they were never going to get anywhere. Zen was quite surprised when he saw his partner obliterate two of her acolytes, at least she's destroying things now. Running at the two acolytes in front of him, he unsheathed his weapon again, just the hilt, and the blade formed on its own, sensing that Zenshin had took hold of it.

For some some unknown reason, the remaining acolytes and fiends all came after Zenshin, blood thirsty, possibly as revenge for all of the havoc his dragon caused on them. Without a second thought, he crouched down, under a large staff being swung at him, put his left hand on the ground, and called out another spell. "Ice make, floor!" was spoken before a huge coat of ice was released from his hand, covering the entire cavern floor, allowing for him to move much better. That wasn't all, he was even able to create a large hole in the floor for Riza, since he wasn't sure how well she handled on slippery surfaces such as this. Without so much as another thought, he went to work.

The fiends were the first to try and take his head off with their sharp claws, but he was too fast for them, blocking both of their hands in a single swing and kicking them out onto the ice. Riza can float, I'm sure she'll be fine on the ice he thought as he jumped over a shadow staff being swept at his feet. Ducking in the air under one aimed for his face, he landed on the one that tried to hit his ankles, broke it with a strong stomp and ran the acolyte through the face with his weapon. Another acolyte, the one behind him tried an overhead strike only to be blocked with an ovrehead of Zen's own, and he too, was run through with the business end of his weapon. All of the remaining shadow creatures just phased out or went invisible, stopping Zen from attacking them.

Well then, that actually went surprisingly better than I had hoped. These things are either getting slower, or I am finally done with the warm up he thought with a grin before running out onto the ice and creating very small spikes under his feet to help maneuver on the ice.
