❖ UNEXPECTED ❖ (P/Onida)

Onida let out a shaky breath. Finally she had managed to seduce that stubborn man. Most men were tripping over themselves trying to get in bed with her, but this one, no, he was different. It almost made it more satisfying when she did finally bed him. Looking him up and down for a moment, she smirked. He definitely wasn’t the best shag she’d had, in fact, she would have to say that he was one of the worst. But dammit, she had done it, and that was what mattered most. Stretching in satisfaction, she turned to face the man she had been chasing after for months now.

His cheeks were flushed a lovely shade of red, and his shaggy red hair was slicked back for a change. There was a certain charm to the way a man looked after these types of activities. He certainly looked different than he normally did, but the man acted the same as he always did. Looking into the distance, lost in thought. It gave him a mysterious vibe that Onida just couldn’t get enough of. She just wanted to know what he was thinking about. Probably something deep and secretive.

As the man turned to her and spoke, Onida’s eyes widened ever so slightly. Why is it that whenever he looked at her or spoke to her, she felt as if she meant nothing to him at all? Even after they had just been intimate together, he still gave her that same cold look he always did. It both intrigued and infuriated her.

“If we must.” The woman uttered before hoisting herself forward, beginning her search for the clothing that had been hastily removed from her moments ago. Once she had retrieved her own clothing, she began to gather Doppo’s. “Merry Christmas” she muttered as she threw his dress shirt at his face. Once dressed, Onida moved the passenger seat back into the upright position, preparing for the trip ahead.

"Alright... Are you ready to head back? Hopefully we can get there before anyone suspects anything."

Ever since that first intimate encounter, Onida and Doppo had been continuously meeting to engage in those activities. For Onida, it was relishing in her success. She had finally cracked the one man she thought she wouldn’t be able to get to. But for the man in question, it seemed to be more like a chore. That fact gradually wore down on the blonde haired woman. Sure, Onida didn’t really have the biggest moral compass, but seeing the way the man looked at her burned a hole in her chest. He resented her. For what reason, she didn't know, but she could just see it in his eyes. Even after observing humans for decades, Onida still had no idea what this one man was thinking. He was unlike any human she had ever seen before. It made her want to push further, but at the same time, it intimidated her.

On the day in question, Onida had been sitting at her own desk at the Rune Knights headquarters. She had arrived extremely early that morning and finished all the paperwork for the day, so she wasn't doing anything in particular. Sighing deeply, she twirled her pen between her fingers. The issue that had been eating at her for weeks hit her especially hard when she didn't have anything to keep her busy. Should she stop seeing Doppo like this? Perhaps it would be better for both of them, especially since he seemed so unhappy about their current relationship. She enjoyed the intimacy, and had jumped at the chance to become closer to the mysterious man, but the whole thing seemed to have backfired on her. She could continue this, but it seemed like an extremely selfish thing to do.

The world had a funny way of working. As she was thinking of the situation, Doppo walked past her office, presumably to head to his own. Jolting up from her seat, she exited, marching to his office, bursting through the door with some sort of agenda. She didn't exactly know what that agenda was, but she would figure it out along the way. When Doppo spoke to her in the cold tone that he normally did, she flinched a bit, doubting herself for a moment. No! She had to speak to him! She couldn't let this stop her!

"M-Major General Suzuki. I don't know if we should continue this. What we're doing." She managed to sputter. "I don't think this is healthy. For either of us." Onida wasn't normally one to back down from a situation like this. She didn't necessarily have the best reputation when it came to her sex life. She was notorious for seducing as many people, men or women, as she possibly could, but this situation was different. For some reason, she didn't want to destroy her relationship with this man. "Maybe we should stop..."

Onida was silent. It seemed as if there was nothing else to say in that moment. Maybe what he said was right, but it didn't make it hurt any less. Perhaps it was the fact that he was right that made it even more hurtful. Taking a step backwards, Onida opened her mouth to speak. Words didn't come out at first, so she shut her mouth, before opening it again to attempt once more. "I.. Women like me... Yes.." There was a pause. "I... I should be going now. I'm terribly sorry for all of this. Goodbye Major General Suzuki." She managed to stutter before turning swiftly and exiting the office. Heels clicked quickly against the tile flooring as she made her way to the exit of the Rune Knight headquarters. Perhaps it would be best for her to head home for now. Maybe then she could get her mind off of what had just happened.

After that encounter, the blonde haired woman tried her best to avoid Doppo. She found it to be quite difficult, though, considering they shared the same workplace. Perhaps it was petty of her to not speak to him like this, but she just couldn't find any words to say to him. The hole that had been burning through her chest had finally made it's way to her heart, and she couldn't put her finger on the reasoning for it. What he had said about her was right, though, and it had become even more true since that incident. Onida slept with a new man almost every night trying to keep her mind off of everything. It worked during the moment, but as soon as it was over, she got that horrible feeling again. Why had she stooped so low?

One fateful night, though, her entire life would change. It was 4 am on a Tuesday, and Onida had been laying in bed, tossing and turning restlessly. There had been a pain in her stomach since she had gone to bed that night, and she didn't know what was causing it. "Nnghh.. I just want to sleep... I have to be at work in the morning." She groaned to herself, cringing as she placed a hand on her aching belly. Quickly afterwards, her eyes snapped open, and she was flying out of bed, running to the bathroom in her apartment as fast as she possibly could. Falling to the ground, she threw herself over the toilet, the contents of her stomach leaving her as she did so. When it had finally finished, she raised her head, tears streaming from her eyes and her breath ragged. What was going on with her? She had never been sick like this before. Curling up on the floor of her bathroom, all of the feelings she had been struggling with hit her at once. Why were all of these terrible things happening to her? "What did I do to deserve this?" Onida sobbed hoarsely. Laying pitifully on the bathroom floor, the distraught woman cried herself to sleep.

The next day, Onida had decided that she needed to see a doctor, considering she had never really been sick before. She was probably being over dramatic, and it was something extremely common, but for all she knew she was dying. She knew nothing about these human diseases. When she arrived at the doctor's office, the nurse escorted her into a room, where she waited patiently for the doctor to arrive. As she waited, she could feel the nerves bundling up in her stomach. What if she had some fatal disease? She had heard very little about the plague one time from one of her pack members. What if she had that? Sweat beaded and rolled down her forehead as the doctor entered the room. Gulping, Onida reached out a hand for her to shake.

"Hello, Ms. Onida! I am Dr. Silver, and I will be taking a look at you today."

Nodding, Onida responded. "Pleasure to meet you, Doctor."

After conducting the exam, the doctor gave the worried woman that sat on the table a very serious look. "Well, it seems that everything looks normal. I just have a question for you, and I know it is quite personal, so I'll have to ask you to forgive me for being crude... Have you been sexually active recently, ma'am?"

Eyes widening in shock, and cheeks flushing red, Onida looked away, unsure of how exactly to answer. "Well, yes. I have."

The doctor leaned back in the chair she was sitting in, and placed a hand on her chin. "Well, my dear, there is a possibility that you may be pregnant. Of course, we'll conduct some tests, just to be sure."

Onida froze. Pregnant? No... There was no way that she could be pregnant. She had a demanding job, and a chaotic life. No. She couldn't raise kids. She had never even thought of having kids before. Not once. "I... Please, can we test just to be sure?" She asked frantically. The doctor nodded in responce. "Of course."

It had been a week since the visit to the doctor, and Onida had finally built up the courage to walk back into the Rune Knights Headquarters. Her absence from the job was inexcusable, and she was sure to get an earful from the Field Marshall about it, but right now all she could think about was the news she had received. Head down as she advanced, Onida tried to avoid eye-contact with everyone in the building. That was, until she made it to a certain man's office. As she tapped lightly on the door with her knuckles, the woman let out a sigh. "Major General Suzuki... There's something I need to tell you."

She couldn’t look him in the eye. Especially after what he had said to her. His comment had just made the atmosphere even more awkward. Instead, her eyes shifted downwards , staring at the Major General’s shoes as she responded. “It’s alright. It wasn’t like your words weren’t true. You just said what everyone was thinking. Your honesty really is a great virtue.” She paused for a moment, not really knowing how to continue. “Hey. Can I just come in? I don’t want anyone overhearing what I have to say.” Not waiting for his response, she entered the office, closing the door hastily behind her. Pacing towards his desk, she ran a hand through her hair. “I don’t know how to say this. I never thought I would ever have to do this in my life.” She sighed, finally gaining the courage to look Doppo in the eyes again.

“Chiyuki... I... I’m pregnant. And I think it’s yours.” She managed to croak out. This had been one of the first times she had called the man by his first name, giving the words she had just spoken even more of an edge to them. “And I’m scared... I’m so scared.” Tears began to stream from her eyes, leaving trails down her cheeks. “I’m not even a human. I don’t even know what’s going to happen. The child won’t be normal. Who knows if it’ll even live. I can’t handle that.” Knees giving out, she crumbled to the ground, sobbing pitifully. “I can’t lose anything else. I’ve already lost so much. I... I can’t do this.” The wolves from her pack weren’t even meant to breed. They were immortal, unless their magic was depleted, like her fellow pack-mates, so there was no purpose in breeding. Who knew if her fickle human form would be able to handle a pregnancy.

“I’m sorry for putting all of this on you. I understand if you don’t want to have anything to do with me. Especially after I took advantage of you before. But I just wanted to tell you. You deserve to know.”

Onida was honestly quite shocked when Doppo crumpled to the ground with her. He was normally so cold and reserved. She had never seen this side of him before. When they were intimate together, it wasn’t really, well, intimate. It was always fast, purposeful, emotionless. Feeling the tender touch of the man’s hands on her shoulders almost made her flinch. It was completely foreign in so many ways. Not only because it was unusual for him, but because she had never really felt such a kind touch before. Her tear filled, golden eyes moved upwards to meet his bright blue ones. Deep sobs rattled through her chest as he spoke. She hadn’t really expected to break down like this in front of him, but it was a bit too late to go back now, wasn’t it? The normally confident and snarky Onida had a soft side sometimes, too. Though, it wasn’t something she really liked putting on display for others to see.

The warmth of his hands on her cheeks was comforting, so much so that she clutched his wrists with her own, shaky hands, attempting to keep them in place. The words that had accompanied his touch were even more comforting, making it a tad bit easier for the blonde woman to calm herself. The sobs began to slow, coming in calm waves as opposed to the full on tsunami that had torn through her beforehand. Removing a hand from his arm, she used it to wipe away the tears that accosted her eyes. It was time to buck up and talk about this like adults. She could sit her crying like a child, but that wasn’t going to solve anything. “What are we going to do then? I have no idea how to take care of a child. Let alone a human child.” The tears threatened to come again, but Onida used all the energy she could muster to keep them at bay. Taking a deep breath, she continued. “Do you think we should keep it? Do you have any experience with caring for children? Because I don’t want it to suffer. It wouldn’t be fair.” It was a question that tugged at her heart, but it was a responsible one.
