C-rank Job: To the Hunt! Time to prove yourself.

“Congratulations!A few months ago you managed to take down that gargoyle, don’t get cocky though, it was just luck! Just defeating some stone construct doesn’t mean you’re anywhere near my level! So here is another hunt, get to it.”

Another letter, similar to one a young mage received a few months ago. No clue as to who was sending out these challenges, but it was all good fun, or at least that’s how Jaeger Nekros Krüger felt about it. It’s not like this person was trying to send mages to their doom by hunting mysterious and powerful monsters or anything, Totally not, ha… haha. Either way! It was a fun time for Jaeger and he was eager to leave port. So as soon as the fiery Scarlett was finished giving him the letter, and chewing him out, he was off!

While he traveled via land shark, he wondered about the red headed secretary from HQ. Jaeger didn’t take anything from the woman too seriously, found it fun and humorous, but did she really have a big problem with him or was there something more to it? Everytime she gives him a mission, she’s getting on his case about being lazy or being late for something.It not like he has ever been rude to her either, so it couldn’t possibly be retaliation for that.Perhaps that is just er personality, very vocal and awkward with how she presents stuff. The mage had never seen her interact with another employee, so it could very well be a thing she does with everyone.

In the letter, it explained what to hunt and where, the Spooky Forest and a wraith. The target and location made a lot of sense, one should expect such specters in famously spooky forests. As such a monster, the mage could also expect it to have certain phases where it’s not on this plane of existence anymore, though he was sure he could deal with it. All he had to do was hide himself and attack when the ghost appears once again! This spooky boy won’t know what hit him. Though, Jaeger might get the same surprise and be haunted while in the ground. Guys…. The Earthland is haunted… He chuckled to himself and continued on his way to the land of scary trees.

Upon arriving, the name did do it justice. There was fog all about, the tree’s were dark in the bark, some tree’s even went leafless. Other natural planets were bent and twisted into shapes and forms that you’d not normally see. Tree’s weren't bent over, creating an odd tunnel or bridge over the area. Due to the nature of this area, sunlight doesn’t peek through the treeline. The whole place is tinted with a slight blue. Animal life was there as well, though mostly evil, fur matted squirrels and crows. It was a strange wonder, normally woods and forests are teeming with wildlife.



A terrible entry line, didn't really make sense either, but he was the only one that was there to hear it…. It needs a heavy rework. The mage moved and shuffled until he was no longer in the dirt below.

The mage peered down to the letter that he was given again. There was nothing in this forest but fog and eerie quietness! He had to be sure that he was in the right place. Sure, the atmosphere was right for this wight but there was nothing to sense… no other critters to really scatter when something appears out of the blue. This fight will require the mage to use all his senses, he’ll have to push the limit of his mind, body, and soul to overcome this foe! It’ll be the toughest thing ever… his ultimate rival! All his training, all the sacrifices and deaths made to this creature, this is where it’ll end. Jaeger had to finish this, he was earthlands last hope!

After having some weird anime hero moment in his head, the mage began moving along the not so subtle path through the forest. Trees were twisted and knotted beyond belief, half of the foliage looks dead and dry, being devoid of all leafy coverage. It looked like a scene out of a horror story really, which is probably why it got its name. How did it become like this? Could it have been created by a mage and if so… why? What possible reason was there to ruin nature like this. Though, it was always a possibility this area and environment just… developed as it was. Which would then bring him back to the question, why?

Maybe, just maybe, the mage would look into this place and discover its true nature once this hunt was all over. It was pretty mysterious and weird but also kind of cool and would make a nice base of operations. There is no one around, it’s pretty secluded. Really, the only annoyances are some ghosts, but that just helps deter anyone from coming to this forest.. It’d be perfect for his own dealings, perhaps this is where he’ll bring the teddy and grape. Jaeger could dig and make an underground bunker, store them here, occasionally bring them food and materials, it’ll all work out in the end.

Though, what was his own end goal? Sacrifice? A Date? No… neither, he was doing it just for the chaos, the fun of it. Even his more…. Terrestrial side would have fun researching and gathering information on more of this human species. It could be totally justified. Either way, he would need to complete this hunt before dragging the living teddy bear and his vict… friend here for a while. And just like that, it appeared before him as he was finishing up his thoughts. The mage had finally trespassed on enough of its territory for it to show up and do something about it.



HA! Genius, a perfect line for the situation. The mage will have to remember this one for another time or whenever he fights another spook’ems. The spirit didn’t like it too much, how could you tell? Well it let out an insanely loud screech towards the man before flying over to swipe at Jaeger.

Little did this spooky wraith know… Jaeger was packing! From beneath his great white suit launched and metamorphosed this mechanical and technological suit of armor. As it engaged, the 4 extra sets of arms tore through his magnificent suit, leaving strands dangling off his body or on the ground beneath him. For the future, the West Fiore Trading Company member will have to plan ahead of time for this. The company probably wouldn’t like him constantly needing replacement suit jackets and nice dress shirts. Now though, he just needed to hunt this wraith and prove himself to whoever is sending these challenges! No beast is too scary for the Jaeger Bomb.



Again, another brilliant one liner! Who is this Jaeger and how can he be so amazing with them? However, it was not enough to stop this foe, but his arms were. These beasts were high tech and very strong, this wraith had no chance of getting close enough for hit! Once within range, the mage clasped the yellow tinted, mechanical hands around the spectre, restraining it for the time being. Behind the magical warrior, the teal hands clapped and gripped one another, starting the charge for an amazing barrage! However, it would take a few more moments to have another two charges.

Until then, what should he do? The wraith itself couldn’t get closer, but perhaps its scythe could. He would need to watch out for that, wouldn’t want to be reaped, right? So, with all that in mind, the mage Lifted up his hand, aiming it at the Wraith. It was about time Jaeger got back to his roots, get back to the magic and fun that he used all those years ago when leaving the temple, during his time with Sleeping Forest and all that came after. Though, perhaps it hadn’t been all that long but just felt like it had been ages since using his Lost magic to have some fun.

Moments after raising his hand, sparks started igniting and seconds after, a large explosion engulfed the specter, the techno arms, and a few branches that rested close to the two. The explosion echoed throughout the whole area;  birds quickly spooked and flew as quickly as they could away, smaller land critters fled the noise and made their way for shelter, but the spectator was still in fairly good condition. Suppose being ethereal in a manner had its upsides.

KABOOM The glorious explosion of rapidly heating hydrogen in the air sounded off. Moments after, you could still hear the small critters running away, trying to escape the loud sound that  triggered their flight or fight senses.  The wraith itself seems to flicker in and out, but still restrained by the arms of the B-Holder. It clearly didn't like the magical attack and lashed out once again with it’s scythe! But it only clanged against his armor, while it did have its own endurance and durability, there’s no way this thing could take it down in time.



BWAHAHA. Goteem coach, there’s no coming back from that one liner, not even for this wraith. As he mentally congratulated himself,  the second of three arms locked in place ‘b-hind’ him. It was the blue set, only the red to go until BOOM, no more spectre. The charging bit was the most boring, just because one had to wait to do the barrage, but also very much a wait of anticipation, which is a bit contradictory. Perhaps he’ll forgo the ¾’s charge and just go half power, this wraith couldn’t possibly be that strong to withstand it all.

Gah, the waiting was unbearable! Seconds felt like years. Each breath felt like an eternity had gone by. Perhaps, just this once, he wont go full ham and just get it over with. Once over, Jaeger can only hope that the next challenge will be something a little more exciting than Casper here. It was a low ranking job after all. If it were that dangerous, it would have earned a much higher ranking, right? Decision was made, half power should be enough. The clasped arms slowly came undone, electrical energy surging and connecting the metal as it seperated. A mere second later, the fists were a flyin’! The barrage was activated and the spirit had nowhere to go!



Once again, a perfect quote for the books of the Jaeger legend. Another entry would be how well his B-Holder suit busted this ghost. The metal and magical fists just flew and collided with the ethereal being. One may ask, how could it hit and hold onto such a creature? The answer, magic. Magic explains everything! Can be explained? Magic. Can it not be explained? Magic again.  There isn’t anything in this world magic couldn't explain. So with that taken care of, the wraith falls limp and slowly dissipates from the onslaught of magical fists.



Another one liner, though not too great, probably could have had a better set-up. Either way, his time here was coming to a close. The evil fiend was defeated and sent back to whatever realm to pass on, they will be mist. With it all settled, Jaeger could go around and search for a good place to set-up his own get away, someplace he could hide his vict… his friends when the world gets crazy. However, there really weren't too many places to pick from. So creating his own underground lair was left up to his own talents.

Jaeger planted his hand on the ground and forced out the magic of his Great Tree Ark. The mage was using his Leshens Bunker spell, though it’ll be temporary; he would need to work fast to get everything sorted. The ground started to bubble, though only slightly as the bunker mostly formed downward. Once complete, the man shifted down and merged through to the center. Once in, he spammed his ability to create and sprout trees from the earth. They were to give the bunker form when the previous spell wears off. Sure, it might be a little crowded at first, but he had the technolog… no the skills to form what he needed out of them, and he did! Before leaving the forest and heading back to HQ and replying to the challenge, he’d form and create a place to hold prison… er..house visitors.
