Someone is coming from lands far from Ishgard. . .
The Royal Emissary
Who are they?
The Estryan Empire—the fastest-growing foreign power from a continent different from Ishgar. Overseas, it’s known for its militant aristocracy, imperialistic ventures, and feudalistic values. This Empire occupies a small amount of land and influence on the continent that continues to grow as they take over smaller and weaker states surrounding them, leading them on the path of becoming a modern-day superpower. The previous persons in power did not expand beyond the sea, but a new generation of aristocrats begin their supreme reign and commence their legacy with The Royal Emissary, resting their nation’s aspirations on this group’s shoulders as their ambitions travel beyond the border.
The Royal Emissary is just that—a royal emissary. Various aristocrats have sent forth a small group of representatives to various states, including Fiore, in hopes of doing away with the world’s isolationism. In an effort to encourage this, mages do not join the emissaries but are employed by them. In exchange for the protection of its representatives, execution of political orders, escorting, and various other tasks, wizards who work under the emissary are paid handsomely and offered supreme working conditions.
Estrya has made Her purpose clear to the Magic Council. Goodwill and nothing more. But for a nation with such malevolent values for people and dangerous history of imperialism, what are they really up to when the Council isn’t looking?
Goals & Values
Goodwill: To establish positive and fruitful relationships with various states, primarily Fiore. This is the mission in which nearly everyone outside of the Royal Emissary perceives to be the truth, including some employees.
Undermining The Magic Council: While not everyone employed under the Royal Emissary may be aware of their true colors, its true mission is to undermine the Magic Council along with other governments in states boasting the usage (or lack thereof) of magic by whatever means possible. The Aristocracy claims to be returning to their imperialistic ideologies and allows the various emissaries to allow this mission to be a reality. Depending on the character of their employees, some may be aware of this goal and others may not.
Seizing Magical Power: Estrya is not rich with magic. Only a fraction of the population possesses it, and most who do are taken into military service. The primary reason royal emissaries are stationed in states boasting high usages of magic is to seize its power for material and political strength.
Annexing The States of Earthland: The Aristocracy is bringing Estrya back to its imperialistic beliefs and is preparing to claim all occupied land on Earthland. The Royal Emissary is only a gear in this detrimental machine being built.
Guild Territory
Estrya does not own any Ishgardian territory and instead transports their emissaries through technologically advanced ships capable of traversing the harshest of seas and most hazardous of skies. These aircrafts are plentiful in number to allow several of their emissaries and employees access to almost all of Earthland at speeds and comforts more surpreme than what Ishgard might have to offer. While their numbers are numerous, the main aircraft that transports them and is the primary base of operations is the S.S Nero or "strong and wise warrior" in Estryan.
These aircrafts have what any Ishgardian guild has and operates like a modern guild hall. As a result, however, they have no set location and are otherwise nomadic. However, the S.S Nero is often seen hovering over the Calm Sea.
Ranks & Positions
The hierarchy of The Royal Emissary is very simplistic and straightforward, but each group has incredible responsibility. However, the higher one goes up in rank, their awareness of the Estryan agenda increases. However, it is completely possible, if not more likely, that Escorts are also working with this concealed agenda.
