"Sir, I see the island!" one corporal said enthusiastically.

    "We all see it, genius."

    "It's pretty big, isn't it?"

"You think they have pretty girls?"

"I hear that their Guildmaster is a noble. I bet that bastard has a palace on this island or something! Ha!"

A somewhat large vessel has finished its voyage from Fiore to Amber Island and the four privates and one corporal simply couldn't subdue their excitement and anticipation when they saw it. It was absolutely gorgeous and many of them blushed when they saw themselves approaching the shore. Their ship was large enough to carry Major Suzuki's squadron and Captain Stern's squadron to and from Amber Island with ease like every other ship, but the Rune Knight insignia that was painted across it made them stand out than what Major Suzuki would've liked. But it seemed that they would be garnering attention anyway considering the nature of their being here in the first place

Amidst the chitchat, the redheaded, cleanly-suited Doppo remained silent stared at the approaching island shore with mild interest. He had never been to this island before, let alone to any island more than a mile away from the mainland, and never for such an equally trivial and significant task such as this.

The ship docked and the Rune Knight passengers would depart with their vessel. Doppo's squadron consisted of young men and one woman a few years younger than him—she also is the only corporal he brought. Unlike Captain Stern's, his squadron also consisted strictly of Knights from the combat corps. Doppo wasn't the biggest one there but was certainly the quietest. You wouldn't be able to tell that he was the Major if not for his ribbons on his uniform.

Yawning, he looked to Captain Sheldon Stern and pointed to the terrain ahead. "Can you lead the way?" Doppo suggested politely, for reasons being that he was both lazy and didn't want to admit it, and that he was awful with navigation.

The salty breeze that was blowing gently as the vessel making their way across the ocean was messing up Shane’s hair, and the man scowled as he brushed his fingers through his hair towards the back, having already repeated the same action multiple times throughout the journey. After the incident where his appearance had undergone a drastic change which was actually his original appearance before he joined the Rune Knights, Shane had kept his hair short and dyed it blonde. And now having been recently promoted to the rank of Captain, the Spec Ops operative was determined to show a more professional side compared to his mercenary look that he had adopted while on jobs.

Like the others on board, he was dressed in full Rune Knight uniform, the form-fitting black uniform showcasing their identity. Not that anyone would doubt them considering the large Rune Knight symbol painted on the hull of the seagoing vessel. Shane gave a short glance in the direction of the other group of Rune Knights that had also been assigned to make this trip, smiling a little when he observed how active Doppo’s squad was. He could hear the excitement in their voices and he smiled a little.

But that smile soured when he turned slightly to look at the five men in his squad, standing at attention behind him, arms clasped behind their backs, legs spread apart to balance themselves. Shane aimed to become the best soldier in the Rune Knights, but that didn’t mean that he wasn’t capable of fun. The five men behind him, all of them barely approaching twenty, were bearing stoic expressions on their face, even as they approached the foreign island.

“Guys, loosen up a little. This is merely an official visit. We aren’t here to bust down their doors,” Shane said as he turned around fully to look at his team.

“Yes sir!” all five of them replied in sync, at the top of their voices. And yet they kept on with their stance. Shane shook his head and sighed, as he turned around to look back towards the front of the ship. They had just arrived at the docks on Amber Island, a gentle bump nudging the ship when it made contact with the dock. He was going to have to retrain his squad when they get back.

Major Chiyuki Suzuki, or as Shane preferred to call Suzy, walked over to him as they were preparing to disembarked and requested for Shane to take the lead. Not seeing a problem with it, Shane shrugged and replied, “Sure.”

It wasn’t difficult to find where they needed to go, as the headquarters of the guild that they were here to see was built at the top of a hill on the far side of town. When the two squadrons were finally on firm ground once more, Shane led them to a few carriage drivers, waiting for business. It had been a slow day for them, since there hadn’t been any other ships save for theirs.

“How many can fit into one carriage?” Shane asked one of the drivers who quickly jolted to attention, apprehensive of the uniformed group.

“Four,” the driver replied tersely and then quickly added, “Sir.”

“Good. I will need three carriages. Can you please inform the others?” Shane instructed the men who promptly nodded and shouted for the other two to prepare their carriages before turning back to Shane. “Follow me, sir.”

Shane turned around to look at Major Suzy, with a smirk, “Let’s go. Four to one carriage, no unnecessary crowding needed eh?”

When the Rune Knights had finally pulled themselves into the carriages, two of his squadron with him while the other two joined the remaining members of Doppo’s squad in the final carriage. The ride was a little bumpy, the carriages hitting potholes and driving over rocks every now and then but it was better than walking. It took them at least half an hour before the three carriages finally stopped in front of the large structure that served as the Dies Irae headquarters.

Johann took a sip from the white teacup before him, his eyes, with quiet, yet focussed stoicism staring out of the window on one side of the large mess hall, centered on the boundless, azure sea in the distance that stretched as far as the horizon. Black tea with a little lime juice, his favorite. The dark, steaming liquid was invigorating, really, something he could really use, it seemed. Today had been a comparatively rather slow day in the offices of the Ambassador's of Dies Irae, the majority of it spent, as it was so often the case, endless amounts of official paperwork, a circumstance that would, much to the God of Ishgar's dismay, most likely never change. The small break in the other section of the West Wing was much needed, whether Johann was aware of that fact or not, these few minutes in between sessions of boring, dull work a remedy that he wasn't willing to give up.

At least, the one of the two Ambassador's of Dies Irae thought as he took another sip of his tea, at least he had his colleague to support him. Sivvy had really been of immense help so far, and without her, he assumed that he would've most likely lost his mind at this point. His thoughts centered on this, couldn't help but wonder where the girl was. Was she still in the office filling out the various forms, letters, and reports that would find their way to their desks each day? Or had she perhaps had the same thought as himself and took a break somewhere in the guild hall? The God of Ishgar hoped for the latter, though knowing the rose-haired Slayer, it would probably be the former. He decided to at least try to be of some help to her, his eyes on a table of various baked goods over by the buffet that had been set up for lunch, the blueberry-chocolate muffins in particular. Knowing his fellow Ambassador, he was sure that she would appreciate those, if she hadn't already devoured half of them without his knowledge, that was.

He emptied the last of his tea, clearing his throat before taking the hat that was part of his uniform, placing the item back on his silver hair with a practiced motion as he stood up, about to head over to the snacks he had seen earlier when a uniformed Soldier approached him, his pace hurried and his expression somewhat nervous. He gave the Ambassador a quick salute and stood to attention, Johann leisurely repeating the motion. "What's wrong, Soldier?", the man asked with expressionless face, his tone reflecting the fact that he wasn't too keen on being disturbed, at least at this moment. "Ambassador", the man greeted formally before loosening up a bit, taking a deep breath. "It seems that we have visitors, Sir". Johann instinctively raised an eyebrow. "Visitors?". The man's demeanor shifted in moments, his nonchalant attitude replaced with attention. "Visitors" never meant anything good, whether it was someone from the West Fiore Trading Company again or whoever else would make the long trip to Amber Island. Whatever it was, they never came to just talk and probably had some sort of business with the guild, which, of course, the man could neither confirm nor deny without knowing who had come or speaking to them.

"Yes, Sir. Rune Knights, two squadrons at the entrance to the guild hall". The Ambassador raised his other eyebrow as well. "Rune Knights?", the man repeated once more, surprised. It was a rare occurrence that people found their way to Dies Irae, and two full squadrons of Rune Knights was certainly far out of the ordinary. "Judging by their uniforms, yes, Sir", the man followed up dutifully. "How many?". "I didn't count, Ambassador, probably around a dozen". Johann nodded, lowering his gaze in thought for a few moments, attempting to come up with an explanation for himself as to why the Rune Knights would not only send someone to Dies Irae, no, they also showed up with some numbers. "Interesting ...", he murmured more to himself than anyone else before raising his gaze once more, a smirk spreading across his face, "... we will welcome them then, of course! Gather the other Soldiers at the entrance!". The Soldier of Dies Irae gave another salute before hurrying off, leaving the Ambassador standing there, still quite startled by this sudden change. However, a welcome he had promised, and a welcome he would give them.

Just a couple minutes later the Soldier's of Dies Irae already lined the steps up the hill to the guild grounds both to the left and the right of the portal that offered entry into the Throne Hall itself, waiting for their Ambassadors to arrive. Johann hoped that, within all of this sudden clutter, Sivvy had somehow found her way to the entrance of the Throne Hall where the God of Ishgar himself would wait for her. Undoubtedly, the woman would inquire about ... removing these unannounced elements that had entered the territory of Dies Irae on their own accord, the man unceremoniously denying the request with the justification that it wouldn't exactly reflect well on the guild. This, of course, didn't mean that they wouldn't do the same if they absolutely had to. For now, however, the Ambassador was set on keeping it civil. Stepping out of the entrance and towards the stairs, the rows of Soldiers and Officers that had gathered to the sides and formed a corridor for the Ambassadors saluted, the sound of dozens upon dozens of heels slamming together echoing across this side of the hill, then, as if this had never occurred, silence set in as the two Ambassadors made their way down the steps, towards the Rune Knights.

A few meters before the group of new arrivals, the man stopped, what he hoped would be a friendly smile curling up the corners of his mouth, and if no one else would take the word, he would, bowing forward slightly to greet the Knights before straightening his back. "Welcome, my friends", the greeting was formal, mimicking the man's official tone as he spoke, "Welcome to Amber Island. You should have let us know that you're coming and we would have prepared something more ... adequate to celebrate your visit". Johann couldn't help himself, the underlying tone seemingly clear. "I am Johann von Weiss, Ambassador of Dies Irae and God of Persistence. This to my side ...", he would point over to the young, rose-haired woman "... is Sivvy, my colleague, also Ambassador of Dies Irae". With the introduction out of the way, it was time for the reason why the Ambassadors had gathered here in the first place.

"So ... who might you be, and, if I may ask, what brings you to our peaceful island today? And in such great numbers as well ..."

Perhaps people knew her better than she realized, for Johann had been correct that Sivvy was still pouring over documents and had eaten over half the muffins from the mess hall. If he'd brought her another she wouldn't have turned it down, though. She would never turn food or work down.

Since she was also an Ambassador, the colleague of the soldier that had informed Johann had split off to inform her simultaneously. Naturally, the girl was a bit less diplomatically minded than her counterpart, so her first instinct was to come on strong and show them they were not to be messed with. If she made it to a window right now, she could likely rocket herself right into their ship before they landed, acting as a cannonball and an official greeting in one fell swoop. Amber island was their turf and hardly in the Rune Knights' jurisdiction as far as she was concerned. She couldn't imagine what they wanted. However, she'd merely nod to the nervous soldier lingering awkwardly in the office doorway, saluting him and thanking him at the same time. Following him out and down the hall, she made her way to find Johann and discuss this new development before she could justify moving on her own whims. To her slight surprise, he was already in the Throne Hall with soldiers stationed in a highly official manner. There was obviously a place for her waiting at his side, which she promptly took as if she'd expected this all along.

The clone did need to ask him something, though. Just to make sure. Her whispered question at his side was met with the answer she should have assumed from the beginning. He was right. Blowing up the sudden appearance of armed soldiers sailing upon the island without warning probably wasn't the best idea, but she couldn't help but think it'd be safer. Then again, she'd never had much interaction with Fiore's official policing agency aside from when they came with a magical council official to take possession of her sisters. Were they Rune Knights now, then? 7 only knew the ultimate fate of 6, who hadn't seemed to be a Rune Knight but could have been out of uniform for all she knew. Now that she and Johann were on the same page, she'd simply remain at his side, practicing her silent support for her mentor and fellow guildmaster. Her head dipped in greeting to the gathering of knights as they alighted from their carriages. As much as she tried to come off as gentle and welcoming like Ambassador von Weiss, the small smile on her glossy pink lips didn't quite match the sharpness in her carmine eyes as they appraised each of their visitors. Still, she patiently awaited their answer like a soldier awaiting orders.

    MAJOR
    CHIYUKI
    SUZUKI
    982 words || @Shane Stern @Johann @Nameless|| job info/job sign-up || Paprika Cops and Boys in Blue

It wasn't surprising when the two ambassadors, who Chiyuki figured to be the equivalent of guildmasters, appeared before them as soon as they all exited the carriage to greet them. Anyone would assume at least that much from people who probably didn't have very many visitors. What happens on Amber Island and when it did was something they'd, Chiyuki was assuming this again, be well-informed on.

The first thing everyone in Major Chiyuki's squadron noticed was Dies Irae's glamorous guildhall for lack of a better label. They were all amazed by one private's earlier prediction of there being a palace on the island, and even though it might not be a palace in technical terms, it certainly looked like one! Even the unreadable and aloof Major Chiyuki gave an approving glance, wishing that Headquarters would've looked similarly lavish.

Gohan von Weiss was perhaps the more likable of the two ambassadors simply by the fact that he spoke. His gait was stoic and he let himself appear far friendlier than he looked. No one really thought he'd be so welcoming! However, Major Suzuki and his jovial squad didn't seem to react as their expressions remained unfaltering and tense.

The other ambassador, Sissy, was completely silent and stood to attention like she would've pounced on them if Ambassador Gohan von Weiss had so much as glanced at the knights funnily. Major Suzuki's squadron often thought so similarly that they could easily be considered as one person—so consequently, they all resolved that Sissy was not only gorgeous but formidable and admirable if she was an ambassador—the same make and caliber as Gohan von Weiss! The female Corporal, however, was unimpressed.

Major Suzuki's entire squad didn't show any of their reactions in their gaze, gait, or expressions. In fact, the entire squadron had dead expressions equal to Chiyuki's. Their legs were spread apart and their arms were folded behind their waists. Contrary to how jovial they were before, they truly did look like Fiore's disciplined police force at this moment.

However, Major Suzuki's mind was beginning to feel so cluttered with first impressions that he had to clear his throat to return back to his original line of thinking.

He lackadaisically dipped his head, "Sorry for the intrusion, Ambassador von Weiss. . ." the redhead said apologetically while not feeling apologetic at all. He hadn't really thought about their intrusion before the ambassador brought it to light, but quickly dismissed it in the realization that this would be more of a delightful surprise than an intrusion. Meanwhile, his squadron echoed his mannerisms and dipped their heads so deeply that it was no longer a dipping of the head but instead an obeisant ninety-degree bow similar to how people greeted one another in Midi.

"I'm Major Suzuki and he's Captain Stern. . ." Chiyuki glanced at Sheldon and spoke in his usual quietness, holding up his necklace to the Ambassadors to display his official Rune Knight pendant, ". . . and we're here on behalf of the Rune Knights with nothing but good intentions. We want nothing but a bright future with your guild. Please accept these gifts. . ." The redheaded Major looked to one of his privates expectantly, who would then retrieve litanies of baskets from a pocket-space only he could access. This private was the only re-quip sorcerer in the squadron and had been carrying these items with him the entire voyage to Amber Island. To everyone's delight, the goodies in the baskets—fruits, candies, candles, cakes, pastries—were untampered with and completely unscathed.

"Please accept them!" the Knights said in unison and would each grab two baskets, one for each hand, and line up behind Major Suzuki again. There was a generous number of baskets to be distributed, and his squadron alone wouldn't be able to hold them all. Captain Sheldon Stern's men would have to share the burden of kindness.

When the Rune Knights stepped out of their carriages, the men in their squadron had automatically realigned themselves with their respective superiors, taking up a position behind each squadron leader. Shane’s brow furrowed slightly as he took note of the grandeur of the Dies Irae headquarters. While he was impressed, he was also figuring out they had gotten the funds to purchase or construct a property of such magnificence. But it wasn’t of his concern as long as the Dies Irae were not involved in any illegal activities.

The welcoming committee spoke volumes about their discipline, a standard that only the Rune Knights could contend with. Men in their well-pressed uniform stood to the sides of the stairs that led to the main chamber of the guild hall, but the most eye catching of them all was the two people, a male and a female, walking down the center of the steps, with their soldiers saluting them one after another as they passed. Again, Shane found himself impressed but kept his expression almost neutral, a faint smile on his face.

The introduction was handled entirely by the male mage, a silver-haired man named Johann von Weiss. Shane could only assume that the Ambassador title was similar to the guild master title of other groups. The man was friendly, as far as he could tell, although he had raised up the issue with their numbers, seeking clarification. His partner, on the other hand, watched them with the tensed energy of a coiled snake, as if she was ready to attack if the group of Rune Knights had shown any indication of hostility.

Shane’s head nodded slightly with a lopsided smile on his face when Doppo introduced him to the two. The men behind Shane bowed a complete ninety-degrees, the same as what Doppo’s squadron was doing. And then the gifts. When one of the Doppo’s men had begun withdrawing baskets from his pocket dimension, most of it comprised of perishable goods, Shane had also indicated for his men to assist with the gifts.

Shane himself had to go over and pick up the last remaining basket when he realized their hands were full, before returning to his position, his right hand behind his waist while the basket was balanced in his left hand, held up at shoulder level.

“Ambassador von Weiss, would we have the honor of being invited to your illustrious guild hall so that we may bring in the gifts?” Shane had asked.

"Major Suzuki and Captain Stern, is it? A pleasure to make your acquaintance, truly", Johann responded to the redheads somewhat stoic, but nonetheless formal greeting. The slight hint of lingering tension in the air, however, seemed to fade away instantly when the Major revealed another facette of their business of Amber Island, one of his men promptly summoning a cascade of gifts in a display that, Ambassador von Weiss assumed, would demonstrate the visitors' inclanation for diplomacy. "My, my. An unexpected, but welcome surprise", the silver-haired Rune Mage responded, a warm smile spreading across his face. While he, of course, couldn't possibly have known the purpose of the Rune Knights' visit on Amber Island, the fact that they would come here for nothing but a bit of old-fashioned diplomacy was a relief. Who would willingly want to start a guild war, after all? "Of course we accept your gifts, Major Suzuki, Captain Stern, you have my thanks, although I am somewhat disappointed I cannot offer much in return ...", Johann spoke in a tone that seemed unsatisfied with that fact, though there was something he could do to change it, "... however, I am certain the voyage to Amber Island has been long and not without hardship. Your soldiers must be tired, Major, Captain. Please, the least I can offer you is entry into the Guild Hall of Dies Irae and adequate catering".

Acknowledging the gesture with a nod to both the Major and the Captain, the Ambassador turned around, motioning for the new arrivals to follow both Sivvy and himself up the stairs to the portal of polished, white granite that encircled the entry to the Throne Hall, banners of red and white to adorning it to both sides. The Soldiers of Dies Irae that lined the stairs maintained their salute as they would make their way up, and, on the Ambassador's signal upon reaching the portal, would lower their hands before beginning to disperse to return to their daily business. Now it would be on the two Guildmasters of Dies Irae to guide the Rune Knights to the Mess Hall for refreshment and, undoubtedly, conversation. Once in the Throne Hall, the man would gesture over to a hallway leading to the West Wing he had just come from, silently leading the way to the section of the HQ that served as the guild's kitchen and dining area, and once there, he would gesture for the Rune Knights to follow him.

"Please, place the gifts on one of the tables over there. We'll make sure to distribute them later", motioning over to an empty table near the brunch buffet while following up by talking about said buffet itself, "I'm sure you and your soldiers are hungry, thirsty, tired, Major, Captain. Please, feel free to eat, drink and enjoy what Dies Irae has to offer. Our humble kitchen is at your disposal". That said, the man began making his way over to one of the gift baskets that the Rune Knight visitors had brought, inspecting it with interested gaze before reaching in, pulling out a neatly packaged piece of chocolate cake. It was more than obvious that someone had put great care into making sure that this would be as presentable as possible. Unraveling it, the man took a bite of the treat, and truly, a treat it was. The not overly sweet chocolate with hints of almond was a delight, to say the least. The piece of cake still in hand, the man sat down at one of the empty tables. Perhaps the leaders of the little group would think it a good idea to join him, or his fellow Ambassador. In any case, the man, taking the occasional bite of chocolate cake and finishing it in no time, watched the newcomers with a warm smile on his face. What peculiar fellows. He had to admit, their uniforms were rather stylish, though.

Food was all it took. It was like a switch flipped. Upon the producing of baskets of goodies, the sharpness in Sivvy's eyes dissolved into gleeful desire and a much more genuine smile. Every ounce of her attention she'd been paying the visiting party shifted to keenly inspect the contents of the baskets. If they weren't careful, she'd devour every single offering up by herself! If this was a trap of any sort, the rose-haired girl would fall into it cake-baited-hook, candied-line, and pastry-sinker. Now she wanted to fly at them not to show Dies Irae's might, but to ravage the snacks. Sivvy would contain herself, though, attempting to uphold the expected level of professionalism.

That lasted until they stepped foot inside the Throne Hall. The entire walk leading their visitors into their headquarters had been agonizing for the young woman. Her thoughts were entirely consumed with snatching that snack basket away from Captain Stern. Within the comfort of her domain, she whirled on the man and smiled, smoothly reaching up and stealing it for herself. "Allow me to carry this, please," the clone spoke politely, following her words with a small bow. "Thank you so much for the snacks," the rose-haired guild master chirped, spinning on one heel and following Johann to the one place other than their shared office she spent most of her time in; the mess hall. The cellophane paper holding all the contents inside rustled protests against eagerly invading fingers. Before they all could gather in the place where much food was to be had, somehow the stoic woman had consumed a third of the basket's offerings. Once Johann had made available Dies Irae's facilities, Sivvy made sure to make her own friendly offering, especially to the Major and Captain. "When you choose to sit, please join us over here at this table, okay?" Cheeks flushed with the joys of heavenly tastes, she indeed settled beside her mentor with her claimed prize. Since she and Johann often shared snacks in their office, she wouldn't be against sharing with the silverette...as long as he didn't touch the strawberry cake or chocolate eclairs.

    SUZUKI

After their exchange outside of their Headquarters, Chiyuki had remained primarily silent. Like before, he was the quietest out of all of them and allowed himself to shrink and become invisible in the obvious excitement and anticipation of his colleagues. It was only when Ambassador von Weiss brought up the subject of dining and catering that the air around Chiyuki abruptly changed.

The group made their way through the building and Chiyuki continued to be silent and small for the most part. Many of his subordinates would look at him from time to time and notice how distracted he looked: his eyes were twinkling and glittering as if he had seen something magical, he didn't look or listen to anyone in particular, and he seemed so enamored by what was said earlier that you could almost see flowers and bubbles float around his head.

If the flowery expression on his otherwise unreadable countenance wasn't already visible, it became obvious when he stepped into the mess hall. Strangely enough, none of the features on his face seemed to have changed. His blue eyes were still droopy and notably burdened with bags beneath them, his posture was still slouched and sluggish, and he still didn't say anything. If not for the blush on his cheeks and the small amount of drool running down his slightly opened mouth, no one would have been able to tell that the man was absolutely stunned with the spread and had itched to sprint to it. His stomach growled louder than anyone near them spoke and would patiently wait for the Ambassadors to set them—or maybe more specifically, Chiyuki—loose. When they did, it turned out that Chiyuki and his subordinates were more alike than they appeared. As soon as they were permitted, they all hurried to fill their plates and did. They all returned to tables near the Ambassadors no more than two minutes after they dispersed. In no longer than five minutes, all of them had returned to their tables with full plates and glasses of water. Soon after the last of Chiyuki's subordinates returned, the redhead himself appeared across the table he and Sheldon were invited to sit at. Except, unlike any person in the mess hall, his arms were lined with full plates like a waiter's!

"There he goes again. . ." murmured one private.

"That's the Major for you." another chimed in.

"I heard he once ate a mugger for resisting arrest. . ."

    "What a legend. . ."

If you reviewed all of the plates, there were at least five different meats on them and excessive amounts of other things: baked potatoes, steamed broccoli, salads. He might've been gluttonous but he definitely was mindful about what he ate.

Doppo then began to gingerly place the plates on his side of the table. There were easily around eight plates and each one began to take up more and more space on the table. Luckily, he was able to squeeze it all in and make himself small enough that it likely wouldn't interefere on Sheldon's or anyone else's space. When he sat down, he clapped his hands together and dipped his head for a moment of lackadaisical gratitude. ". . .Thanks for the food. . ." he whispered to no one in particular.

It was after this comment that he began to make his way down the line of plates. He chewed slowly and ate at a normal pace, but the food kept disappearing faster and faster! There was nothing gluttonous about the speed and rate at which he ate, which made the fact that plates upon plates were being licked clean within minutes even more mind-boggling! At this point, many of his subordinates began to eat as well, used to this phenomenon.

    Pop, pop, pop. . .

Plate after plate stacked up on one another, the only evidence of there ever being food on them being the obscure pieces of meat and crumbles on them. It was within the two or three minutes of him sitting down that he finished his eigth and last plate. Realizing this, the redhead looked over to the ambassadors endearingly. ". . .I. . . I'm not finished, but when I am. . ." he would raise his barren plate, ". . .where should I put these?" Chiyuki asked indifferently. While he appeared oblivious to his insatiability and completely detached at the time, he felt regretful knowing how many dishes he would be giving these poor people.

His male subordinates, meanwhile, were flushing in the corner at their tables. All of them were anxiously looking at someone over at the Ambassadors' table. No one said or ate anything with any intention of savoring it until one private, frustrated, spoke up.

"If no one is going to say it, I will." he announced.

"O.K. So say it." another smaller private urged.

"Yeah. . .!" the other echoed the smaller private.

With an unnecessarily suspenseful pause, the brave private finally finished his thought. "Ambassador Sivvy is a ten. I think I'm going to ask her o—"

"I like to think that no one is perfect, so she's an eight for me."

"Did you guys see—or—erfeel how much less pressure there was after we presented the gift baskets? She probably has a heart of gold. That's a total nine."

The men gossiped about the, apparently, beautiful Ambassador with a heart of gold while the only woman and uninterested man scowled at them, repulsed.

    "Disgusting." she grumbled.

Post by Shane Stern 16th August 2019, 2:42 am

“Shit,” Shane muttered beneath his breath when Ambassador Johann had mentioned of catering. The Rune Knight Captain had heard of tales of the Major’s legendary insatiable appetite. While Shane himself consumed a large amount of food due to his quick metabolism rate, the tales surrounding Doppo’s had one thing common which was the horrifying amount of food he would eat, like an unstoppable black hole. And yet the man was scrawny. Shane threw Doppo a look before he followed behind the two ambassadors as they walked up the stairs, dismayed to find that it was no longer possible to salvage the situation.

While the gaze in his eyes had been sleepy earlier, Shane could sense a weird energy around the man now. The look in eyes looked as though belonging to that of a man standing in front of an entire cabaret of naked women, or naked men in Doppo’s case, since he had also heard that the Major was gay. Shane moved closer to the Major, nudging him with his elbow but he got no response from the latter. It seemed like he was nothing but a zombie following a food trail.

The moment they arrived at the dining hall, with Johann inviting them to feast, all manner of decorum seemed to have failed for Doppo. With a small amount of drooling trailing from the side of his mouth and a growl from his stomach capable of rivalling the thunder when Shane used Mjolnir, the Major and his squad rushed for the buffet tables. Shane’s head dropped into his right palm, while the rest of his men stood behind him with questionable expressions.

“Captain… can we be excused to eat?” one of the men voiced up, apparently affected by the ravenous hunger that the Combat Corps members were displaying. Shane looked up from and then sighed.

“Go on, fill yourselves up. But…”
Shane said as he turned around to look at his five men. “Remember to carry yourself with dignity. One plate per seating, second and third helpings only when you’ve finished your previous one.”

With simultaneous nods, the five men made their way to the table at a brisk walking pace, and before long, were already piling up food on their plates. Shane merely shook his head slightly and joined them at the end of the table to get a plate. White ceramic plate in hand, the Captain moved amongst the table quickly as well, his plate filled with half a roast chicken, two scoops of mash potatoes, a medium rare steak (Shane was seriously questioning the quality of the Rune Knights cafeteria as he went through the variety of dishes presented) and broccoli.

Of course, if they were at a buffet on their own time, Shane would have taken more but this was official business and he needed to act his best. He wouldn’t want the Dies Irae leaders to think of them as poorly-fed mongrels.

“Ambassador von Weiss, Ambassador Sivvy, you have truly prepared a sumptuous feast here. But, did you know of our arrival beforehand?” Shane asked as he set his plate down on the table with the ambassadors and Doppo. He had chosen to ignore the multitude of plates in front of his colleague, as though it was a drum set array and the fork and knife he was holding in his hands were the drumsticks. “…Or is this the standard fare that your guild has on a daily basis?”

Once he had finished speaking, Shane began tucking into his meal, attacking the roast chicken first as he sunk the fork and knife into the tender meat and began cutting bite-size chunks before placing them into his mouth.
