Long ago, there was a graceful dryad by the name of Meliae that lived deep within the uncivilized forests of Seven. She spent her time nurturing and planting trees and flowers, as well as caring for the untamed wildlife that lived freely in the woods, untouched by the influence of mankind. It was a time of peace when nature reigned and the woodlands flourished, teeming with life and beauty.

When man came, there was little that could have prepared the wildlife for the violent and harmful changes they forced upon the forest. When Meliae tried to reason with the mortals to seek a peaceful resolution to the situation, she was instead overwhelmed by the mortals’ strange magics and weapons made of cruel metal. Meliae managed to escape before they could finish killing her, but she had only delayed the inevitable.

As she lay dying in the woods, a playful fox cub approached her in pity, asking if there was anything he could do to help her. Not wanting to leave the forest defenseless, the fox agreed to let Meliae use the last of her magic to merge what was left of her quickly fading soul to the fox's. The result was Russet: a young fox with an ageless body, and the intelligence and lifespan of a dryad. Though Meliae was no more, her spirit, knowledge, and magic live on through Russet, who used these gifts to drive out the mortals who threatened their home, returning peace to the forest once more.

Plot Abilities:

• Meliae’s Grace: Russet inherited the powers of a dryad, heightening his attunement to nature. As a plot ability, he can manipulate plants and trees to grow or perish, as well as heal plants that are sick with disease. He can also perform minor tricks of fire and light, and disguise himself in the shape of a young tree or bush.
  
• Dryad’s Sentience: Russet is capable of communicating with and understanding plantlife and other animals, whether magical or mundane. He can also use telepathy to speak with humanoid beings.

Description: Russet unleashes a small but powerful ball of flame from either his mouth or one of his paws, aiming it at his opponent. If hit by the attack, the target is drained of 5% HP once per post for the duration of the spell as their body catches fire and burns. Though this attack cannot be shot very far, the fireball travels very quickly, making it difficult to dodge.

Description: Using leaves that have fallen from trees and bushes, Russet pulls them into a tiny cyclone that swirls around either himself or an ally. This funnel acts as a shield that can absorb up to 2x user rank Single Target HP worth of damage before being dispelled. However, due to the speed of the funnel the first person in any single post for the ability's duration who tries to get too close may find themselves being sliced by the razor sharp edges of the leaves. For the duration of the spell, the target benefits from a user rank active increase to spell durability.
