The Desert Mission Shard and Neko

Neko was sitting bored at fairy tail guild hall. He had been sitting around doing nothing for the past few days. It irritated him to the point where he slammed down his beer glass in furry. A few of the surrounding member's of his guild came up. Jeez Neko what that poor beer glass do to you? Look at u funny??? * The guild member let out a nervis laugh* But for real neko whats up. Neko let out a long sigh. I need to be getting stronger but I cant find any good fucking missions!!! Neko clenched his fist's. Neko why dont you do this B-Rank? It look's like it will be easy enough and it has some pretty interesting rewards. Im sure you'll like it. Neko's guild mate handed him the flyer for the mission. Neko took a moment to read over the flyer and then looked up at his guild mate. This is perfect!!! Oh my gods thank you. Neko reached up hugged him then started heading out. Good luck on your job Neko!!! Neko turned back to wave and smile. Neko then turned and left for his house. There where a few thing's he needed to do before he headed out to The Desert.


Neko had just left his house with a small smile. Neko wasn't wearing his normal clothes. He had on black tight short's that cut off mid thigh and a shirt that went to just below his chest which revealed his nicely cut chest and the shirt had no sleeve's. His long silver hair was tied back into a pony tail and his violet eyes shined brightly in the sun."Alright now to the desert village" Neko thought to himself as he made his was to the train station. Neko took the train to the closest town to the desert. Sense the train he rode couldn't take him all the way out there he had to get there on his own. Neko made a quick stop to a store to get some supplies. As soon as he opened the shop door the shop keeper was there to help him. Welcome to my shop how can I help you? It was a kind old woman with a cane. Uh yes I would like some supplies. You see Im a mage from fairy tail and im going on a job in the desert. Do you have things like water food a bag to carry it in? The old woman bent her head down thought to herself then looked up at neko with a smile on her face. I have a light bag with water and a few bento's would that do you any good? Neko smiled back at her. Yes that would be just nice. Thank you very much. The old lady went into the back and and returned a few minutes later with a black silk one shoulder bag. Here you go that will be 500 jewels. Sorry for such a high price but that water.. It will be worth a lot out there. Neko smiled and handed her 1000 jewels. The extra is for the kindness. Neko smiled at her. The Shopkeep looked down and before she looked up again Neko was already gone.

Neko finally got there. Neko walked in to see the employer tapping his foot waiting.

It was said that there was once a man whose patience and dedication was so great that he counted every grain of sand in a vast desert. This was likely a myth as the amount of time it would take was ridiculous and you'd need some way to prevent yourself from counting the same grains over and over. However, if such a person existed then they might just be the elite bodyguard of Skylar Frost. Her name was Shard Everred. She was normally not the type to go on missions, but she needed money. Her wage as a bodyguard was not brilliant after all. Why did she need money? That was simple. To do her job she needed equipment and that equipment cost money so she went on these missions when time allowed to earn that money. It was difficult finding time, but she liked to be busy. Today was a rare occurrence for her because she had only managed to come due to the Council Woman's incapacitation due to imbibing far too much alcohol. She'd had to call in a couple of favours to get some rune knights she knew were loyal to take over guarding just in case the woman recovered and wanted to go on one of her legendary shopping trips.

That was why Shard had felt ok with accepting this mission. Besides, out of all of the missions it suited her the most. She was here to guard a merchant whilst he hunted for his lost caravan and its treasure hunting occupants. What better job for a bodyguard then as a bodyguard. When she had arrived though she almost immediately left after she was told she was not the only person to accept the mission. The fact she would have a partner didn't bother her. No, she felt that would just make it easier. However, what had irritated her was who her partner was. A guild mage, her least favourite group other than dark mages, and on top of that he was from her least favourite legal guild Fairy Tail. Fairy tail, a guild renowned for destruction and the chaos it caused. She hated chaos and disorder and that was Fairy Tail represented. Its only redeeming feature was the camaraderie, but even that wasn't enough in her opinion.

It did not help her opinion of this guild mage that they were late. She'd arrived about ten minutes before she was meant to meet the merchant and had knocked on the door exactly on time. She was very punctual like that because punctuality was easy and not being punctual was rude. Eventually though she saw the merchant tapping his foot as a figure approached. It was likely the partner of the mission so she moved over to the door and walked out saluting the mage formally.

"Shard Everred, personal bodyguard of Lady Frost of the magic council ready for duty." she said stiffly and formally. She wasn't always like this, but with people she didn't know and those she didn't like this was her way of showing it. "I assume there is a good reason for your lateness, probably the supplies you are carrying, so I will not berate you. We will just make up the time as we travel."
