    My Light...

Rose Garden, the last time that she had been here was during Valentines Day and there were some memories that she sometimes wished she could forget, but were funny now. Bursting into the others guild, making a fool of herself, getting married, chasing kids, and fending off chocolate. God that had been a day, one rollercoaster ride of a day. But, today was different, this wasn't a job or a visit, there was a festival occurring. One that Aliannah had invited Elias to go with her to.

Lanterns were lit down the streets with symbols of the solstice on them, an indication that the days were becoming shorter and the nights longer, that they were transitioning from summer to winter all over again.

It was like this every year, festivals and celebrations usually spread across the land, and this year was no different, but there was something off in the air around her, like there was something building, something being planned. So as the blonde girl stood in the street dressed in cargo pants, a light peach loose crop top with a low back, with a dark red strappy bra to show of the straps on the back, black boots, and her sun bleached hair tied up with a red scrunchy, she waited for her partner to arrive She could ask him if he felt it too, and if he did then they should probably be on their toes, and if not, there was simply nothing to worry about.

Why Aliannah wanted to meet up in Rose Garden for midsummer was honestly beyond anything Elias could imagine. Just thinking of that place, his days in Aurora and especially the massive debacle that was Valentine's day sent nervous jolts shooting down his spine. Not to mention he beat a man down in the middle of the street and got married to her in the same afternoon. No, the same damn hour. Everything about it made Elias want to run to a corner and hide. He could barely face Aliannah already.

Elias wondered if they had even officially gotten the divorce papers. Not like he really meant to honor a haphazard marriage made for the sake of a few jewels, but he felt like they should be honest about it. Though Elias really did value Aliannah as a friend and he really really didn't want to make the midsummer festival too awkward. Even as he walked to the meeting place, the thought tugged at his chest and brought his thouguts low. Elias couldn't really describe it, he just felt off. Some mix of the nerves and delayed embarrassment, he thought.

That said, the day certainly was beautiful. Warm without all the humidity Elias usually associated with summer, though his outfit reflected the habits of home: blue shorts and a pastel yellow tee with a red origami crane printed over the chest. He'd even grabbed a light green button-up in case the evening got chilly, Elias left that one open.

Aliannah stood just around the corner and even Elias' usual tendency towards a lighthearted jest failed to show it's face. Something still felt off on that perfect day. Even though he'd already decided to deal with their unusual marital arrangement later. After a decent day, hopefully. Maybe they could get in some time to talk more, rather than end up fighting whatever that holiday's slew of monsters were. She'd dressed casually, a good thing in Elias' mind. Today couldn't get too serious. Right?

"Hey," Elias said as soon as he got close enough. "Quite the day, huh. It'll be my first midsummer in Fiore. Feels like just yesterday I moved here."

Though his voice lacked something. Elias could feel that himself. It hurt that he couldn't give Aliannah the usual happy-go-around. A little piece of his heart had been dragged away and buried long before he got off the train earlier that day. A thought occurred to him. Maybe, just maybe, his feelings were more magical in nature. Elias didn't dare say.

"I'm sorry," he said. It just slipped out of his mouth. "I'm just a little tired." Elias attempted his usual smile. "uh, so what did you have in mind for today? Looks like the festival is going to be fun."

Elias mentally stabbed himself. He just made the whole situation awkward and now he probably ruined the day.

    My Light...

She was off in her own world while she waited for the other to arrive, citrine blue eyes looking blankly at the festival in front of her. She really could only laugh at the memories that this place brought her, there was not much else she could do. it was a story and a funny one at that. Marrying Elias had been a trip, and not one she was going to try to relive any time soon, marrying anyone for that point actually. But thinking about it more struck something in the girl, had their last adventure made the connection and the team work between the two of the awkward? Sure, after the job was done the marriage had been nulled, but she couldn't help but think that things just weren't the same.

A sigh escaped her lips and the girl looked from the flickering lights and the colourful banners to the ground, where she kicked at some loose rocks.

It wasn't soon later that a familiar voice reached out to her, perking up slightly the girl looked in the direction where it had come from and sure enough Elias was standing right there. A smile graced the lips of the girl, she looked at the other as he continued to speak and sure enough there was an awkward tension between the two of them. But the more she tried to not push and pull at the tension the harder it became for her not to notice.

She bit at her bottom lip slightly before a laugh escaped her lips, they were so awkward right now. She continued to snicker until her eyes began to tear up and she wiped the droplets of water from her eyes. "God we're so awkward right now. She straightened up and took a deep breath to calm herself before smiling heartedly at the other blond. "Listen, what's done has been done, there's no mess to clean up as there was no mess to start. We got 'married' for a job, but as the paper was never turned into an official it was never confirm. It's simply void at this point. Besides, even though you're a good guy Elias I'm not really planning to get married until several years down the road, I've gone enough self searching to do before I'm ready."

Her pink lips were pulled into a smile before she shrugged, maybe this would lighten the tension between the two of them. However, before the other could really respond the girl grabbed his arm and began to pull him towards the festivities. Come on, don't think about it too much, there's several other things that are much more fun to do than think about what happened nearly half a year ago."

Dainty fingers, tugged on the arm of the male and pulled the two of them into the crowd. The lights were flickering above them and warm magic rushed over both of them.

Eyes flickered with excitement, the heavenly side of her magic was blooming with power, literally causing for the girl to be glowing in a pastel gold light. It was good that there were other mages around them or the girl would be causing a scene. Lights fluttered in the reflection of her eyes, but there was something off, something wrong.

A scream reached the ears of the blonde, and not one of joy. Turning to face the sound, the girl no sooner saw a fire fairy than she saw a fire blooming in one of the carts. Why couldn't today just be calm?

Once lively blue eyes flickered dark and the girl basically disappeared from Elias' side, through the shadows, only to appear next to the the fairies. With quick hands she snatched them out of the air and glared at them. This was not a day for someone to ruin her fun, there were other days they could do that. Looking at the fairies she glanced around her before her eyes flashed red and she glared at the imps. "Cut it out, we're not doing this today. Got it?" The red headed beings in her hands nodded swiftly before running off, but them leaving really didn't give Aliannah a better feeling about tonight. It felt like something had just started.

Everything had become some weird awkward mess. Elias could read it all over Aliannah's face. She, however, didn't seem to want any of it. For good or for worse she explained that they should just forget about the Valentine's day mess and get on with having a decent time at a festival. Like they had planned three times already. Besides, Elias agreed with everything Aliannah said. Marriage was meant for people who knew where their futures lie. He barely had the faintest clue to the nature of his magic beyond snow, swords, and the aurora.

Either way, Aliannah did seem happy. Maybe even a bit more than usual. Elias could have sworn he saw a little bounce in her step as they started deeper into the crowds of merrymakers and pastel banners. Golden magicks washed over the two as they half-wandered though the crowds. The strange cloud over Elias' heart started to lift. A slight smile had even begun to sneak it's way though his lips when the spell was cut by a pained scream. He cursed when he barely caught a glimpse of some fire pixies lighting up a cart.

"Aliannah, let's just let -" Elias started. He didn't get a chance to finish his thought before the girl had already disappeared though the throngs. No doubt to deal with those things.

Another panicked scream erupted from the opposite side of the street, near the dunk tanks. A pillar of flame leapt above the rooftops.

"Gods damn it," Elias whispered as he darted towards. He pulled Ville's key from his back pocket and called his cloak in a burst of white light.

A fire mages had gone mad, somehow. Maybe it had something to do with the light elemental spiralling about his head. He blasted fire left and right, though never quite far enough to hit anyone. Maybe he was just driving everyone off. Not that it mattered anyways. The very thought of some magic sheninegans happening that day did nothing more than piss Elias off. He stuck Ville's key into the air and summoned him in a gust of winter air.

"What's up, boss?" The arctic fox said, "You're finally letting me meet that girl?"

"No," Elias said flatly. "Just get that pixie out of the air."

"Yessir" ville said. Elias could already hear the smirk in his voice.

The mage knew he was going to regret that decision the moment Ville shot off. Elias started forward himself.

"YOU, ASSHOLE," he shouted at the fire mage. He responded with a burst of flame which Elias casually dodged to the side. "I wanted one day. ONE day of peace to spend time with my best friend and you just had to fucking happen."

A long dagger appeared in Elias' hand with a burst of white light. He darted forward, hopping over another stream of flame. The fire mage engulfed his hands in golden flames and raised his fists to meet Elias. The mages exchanged a flurry of blows before the flames evaporated with a puff of black smoke and the fire mage fell to his knees.

"I honestly can't believe this. Every single gods damned festival just ends in a mess." Elias grabbed the fire mage by his collar and dragged him towards the dunk tanks. "Hopefully this will cool your jets and this will be the end of it. But what can I ask for?" Elias hefted the fire mage by the waist and tossed him headfirst into the dunk tank. Steam erupted from it and Elias turned away.

"Hey boss I got the elemental," Ville said a moment later.

    "Took you long enough."

"It really didn't. I just had to check out your lady friend over there." Ville nodded towards the cart Aliannah had run off to.

Elias narrowed his eyes and said nothing. He could at least trust that Ville hadn't tried anything too stupid. Mostly, at least. He scanned the crowd for Aliannah. She no doubt had already handled the pixies.

"Alright," Elias said. "I'm sending you back" he brandished Ville's key and swiped the portal closed. Normally he could feel a faint tug as it did, but it was gone this time.

"No way, you owe me some introductions." Ville replied loudly. People had just started to notice the magic talking fox.

Elias didn't give Ville the benefit of a response and dispelled his cloak and dagger before wandering back through the crowds.

    My Light...

Why was it that every time Aliannah went somewhere with Elias, something always had to happen. It was like nothing particularly bad happened, it was just that it was inconvenient for the two of them. They just wanted some time to themselves as friends.

Seeing the fairies leave, the girl turned to look at where Elias was. Seeing if he, too, had run into some troubles. Citrine blue orbs were met with a fiery sight and bright lights. A groan slipped from the lips of the girl and her hand lifted to her head where she rubbed her forehead. This was really too much.

Yanking off the pendant on her neck a scythe appear in her hand. Looking at it and then looking at the other Fire mage the girl sneered in anger before forcefully throwing the spear through the shoulder of the mage and landing them in the dunk tank, only after hitting the man that was supposed to be landing in the dunk tank. Both of them fell into the water and pocket of steam rose above the three heads that peaked out of the water. This really was not a day to mess with the girl and seeing as Elias thought the same thing, he had seemed to summon a celestial to help out with the situation.

With two fire mages and one light elemental down, there seemed to be only one light elemental that was trying to ruin their day. Eyes flashing red the girl looked at the light elemental before reaching through the shadows, grabbing them, and pulling them back to the girl. Right in front of her face the girl looked at the elemental and glared. She knew that her angelic magic was pouring through her skin and permeating the air around her.

The light elemental seemed to understand what kind of trouble they were in now and attempted to get away, but the girl held steady before opening what could have possibly been a portal to the Hell's Realm she could summon and pushed the elemental into it. Done. There. Taken care of.

The girl was still on edge though, still angry and full of adrenaline.

Reaching for the nearest thing the girl pulled a hammer out of the hands of what seemed to be a small child, holding it up to protect himself. Before even thinking about it, the girl screamed in distress and hit the hammer against the pad, her magic poured into the hit, as well as her emotions and and her want to spend time with her friend.

The ball attached to the tower flew up and through the bell at the top, sending both flying to god knows where.

Much of the stress and anger and disappointment had been released from her body in one foul swing and with a deep breath the girl handed the hammer back to the child. She smiled at the merchant running the stand."Let the boy choose what ever he would like." The merchant shook slightly before nodding and looked to the kid to see what he wanted. The kid's eyes shone brightly and glimmered as he looked from the blonde haired girl to the many prizes on the shelf, picking the giant dinosaur that was twice his size.

With the fighting over the girl took in another deep breath before looking for Elias.

A woman screamed more out of anger somewhere through the crowd. It was followed by an off-key ding and a piece of metal shooting off into the sky. Elias wasn't sure quite what to think of it, much less how it happened. The only person he knew could do that was Aliannah.

He ignored the thought. In all the months Elias had known her, Aliannah never once lost her cool. Though maybe she got caught up in his awkward atmosphere. At least she never got angry. Still, thatbsfream was Elias' best lead. He chose to follow it.

"Ville, can you grab us some food," Elias said. pulled a few jewels worth of change from his wallet.

"Sure thing boss," Ville replied. A coin pouch appeared around his collar. Elias slipped the coins in.

"Take your time. Use a bag, and don't drag it all over the ground."

"Oh I see what you're doing." Ville said with mild anger in his voice. He shot off into the crowd towards the scream.

Elias shouted for Ville to wait, but it was drowned out by the crowd. He started pushing past people, but he knew it wouldn't be nearly fast enough before the fox found Aliannah.

    --

Ville the Fox didn't dart around people's legs so much as he tried to startle them and make them fall. He let out a crackling yip every time, causing such chaos did nothing but bring him joy. The only thing greater than that would be messing with this Aliannah girl's head. Elias had said little about her, only really implying that she was important to him. Not to mention that he adamantly refused he let them meet. Ville didn't really understand it, what was the problem with a little flirting anyways?

He spotted black boots. In summer weather to boot. Of course someone in such weather-ignorant footwear would be friends with Elias.

"Hey," Ville shouted from in the crowd. "You're Aliannah, right?" He ran a circle around her boots and hopped up onto Aliannah's shoulder. "I'm Ville. Ville the fox. Arctic fox, mind you. We're not little tricksters like our red cousins. I'd shake your hand but I don't really have hands." He let out a quick yip. "You have really pretty hair," Ville continued. His bushy tail pushed Aliannah's ponytail around. "I'd love to snuggle in it." The tone of his voice was simultaneously sly and playful as he waited for Aliannah's response.

NOTE: Mild perspective change here, thought it'd be a somewhat creative thing to do. Elias will be back next post.

    My Light...

She couldn't spot the other blond immediately, her eyes scanning the crowd that had now calmed down. A pout appeared on her lips and she crossed her arms. She was going to curse the next person who tried something that night.

But, she also knew better than to just hope that she could spot Elias just standing there, hence she began to move. However, the moment that she took her first steps something brushed against her leg. Eyes closing in an attempt to relax the girl bit her bottom lip.

Though this seemed not to be a case of something dangerous, there around her ankles and soon on her shoulder was a celestial being that she could trace back to Elias' magic. It was all fine and dandy until the thing began to talk to her. Sure she knew magical animals could talk, but she really hadn't thought of one doing it right in her ear before.

Giving the animal a look she raised her eyebrows. She had gotten over the embarrassment and anger that had caused her to lose face and all that was left was more neutral feelings. The compliments that rolled off the tongue of the Fox were nice and she could feel her ego inflate just slightly, but the girl knew better.

With a soft smile, her eyes glittered in amusement. "Hi Ville, it's nice to meet you. But, based on that bag around your neck it seems like Elias wanted you to do something other than talk to me, not lets find something to eat and then go find that summoner of yours, eh?"

Without another word the two of the more celestial like beings turned around to search for food, leaving the male to follow and the rest of the festival at ease.
