"Well, what now, Music Man?" Jericho asked sardonically, watching over a rooftop as hordes of people were massacred below them by these "elemental mages," for lack of a better name, the perimeter of Hargeon Town sealed off with powerful magic that he couldn't be bothered to investigate. He could tell from the rooftop that it was more trouble than it was worth.

The grim man was wearing his uniform for the "dark organization" he was working under, which, surprisingly, he was still uncertain as to its name. Even though he was wearing his uniform, anyone could tell that he watched these swarms of people being terrorized by the elemental mages coldly and without sympathy. There was certain irritability about his demeanor that made it appear like he was looking at a roadblock—even bugs. He eyed the crowds with the distance and apathy as if he were watching it in a video and not in person. He stood on top of the roof with crossed arms, shaking his head in mild disappointment.

What kind of pickle did he and Music Man—he was with his colleague and he just so happened to be called Music Man—find themselves in? They had never intended to stick around for such a massacre, but things seemed to have ended up that way anyway! In fact, he and Music Man had business in the city just next to Hargeon, but it would appear that they wouldn't be arriving on time for it at the rate this situation was escalating.

Men, women, and children screamed horrified screams as they were terrorized, and not even five minutes had passed since these "elemental mages'" arrival and the shore already looked like a scene straight from a post-apocalyptic lacrimavision show. Windows were shattered, places were being looted, rubble on the street and some corpses littering the place here and there—it was really quite the trouble for the cloaked mages. Or it was for Jericho, at least.

"Hmmm. . . what to do, what to do. . ." Jericho hummed deep in thought, sighing hopelessly in the end, "Are we stuck here. . .?"

The Music Man Comes To Play

Honestly? The Music Man didn’t even remember what it was they were there for if he were to tell the truth. It was some business he didn’t remember. When he was told about it, he was thinking of his wife and a possible new song for her he was coming up with. He had summoned his lute and was laying down on the rooftop with his head leaning over the edge to watch the fighting in a bored fashion. He strummed a couple times before he grins some. “Why not join them? Kill the people, kill the other mages. Easy peasy.” He shrugged his shoulders as he felt like that would be fun to do. Even though he was still new and wasn’t used to it yet, he was wearing his uniform like he should of been for whatever it was they were doing. He wished he remembered really… or at least that it was a bit more fun. Who was it he was messing with again? Would he be a good one to play with his music with? The questions could be endless.

One thing he did know though, this job was boring with them just sitting there on this dirty rooftop. He needed to play his music and cause a scene. Standing up, he put his hands on his hips and propped his foot up on the edge of the roof. “This actually seems rather delightful to watch.” He chuckles more to himself than anything. If his partner didn’t think so, that was on him. He didn’t mind. He taps the chin of his mask and snickered to himself. “Shame I thought the city was quite nice… perfect to play a concert in…” He turned his head to look over at his partner and tilted his head a bit. “What’s the job we’re to get to again? Was it hunting some lady or something like that?” He actually didn’t remember what it was at all. He just wanted it done and over with and to be paid.

At the question of the other assassin questioning being ‘stuck here’ the Music Man snorts rather loudly. “I say there is an easy way to solve this problem. Kill them all.” He holds out his hand and mumbled something before a guitar sporting a slightly grassy axe blade at the end and a skull on the other side of it was in his hands. He had gotten good about not saying his spells aloud to summon them. Would this be a useful thing? Probably not. But at the same time, he didn’t care. He probably should have just shouted the name of his guitar instead. A cackle came from the musician as he looks down towards the masses of people. “Care to join me? Or are you going to stay up here and enjoy the view? Either way, a concert is going to start very soon.” He chuckles as he makes his way towards the side of the building where the fire escape was. He didn’t even look back to see if the other would follow him. Maybe he should get the others name before this job was over and done with… Might be okay. Never know.

Once the armored musician was on the ground, he held up his guitar and started strumming. The song didn’t even have a particular melody to it. He was just playing random notes to attract attention to himself. Of course the first group that noticed him happened to be a group of fire mages together. Would his guitar be a match for these dingus’? There was really only one way one could find out this information. The fire mages turned their attention onto the Music Man, and he grinned under his mask. Now he was definitely ready for some fun to begin for him here. He was their target. No way was he going to let them go.

One of the first things Jericho noticed about Music Man was how carefree he was. The way he strummed his lute as he watched hordes of people get massacred and slaughtered, his light-hearted suggestions and nonchalant demeanor, and even the very way in which Music Man carried himself admist this horrific scene gave the impression that he was a man of few worries and looked for the fun in any situation. One might've thought this was rather morbid of him, but Jericho wasn't any better and didn't judge him for it. The masked assassin felt inconvenienced by the massacre and looked for ways to avoid the incident altogether, like an impatient driver stuck in traffic all of a sudden. This, which, in itself, was probably deplorable in the common eyes.

Music Man was apparently the talkative type, and while Jericho didn't dislike this, was unable to reciprocate. Instead, he responded to most of his comments with "Mhms", "Ahhs", and, if he were really at a loss for words, would just nod. He asked about their original mission that was supposed to take place in the next town over, making Jericho's expression transform into a disappointed frown. "Some politician's wife and child, but it doesn't really matter anymore. . ." Jericho quietly responded, more muttering to himself than to Music Man specifically.

It was then that Music Man returned to his original suggestion about killing everyone and finally decided to take action. The cross-armed Jericho stood adjacent to him, staring at him quizzically as he let himself fall from the rooftop to confront four of the mysterious "elemental mages" they were just talking about before. He simpered placidly at him from above, "Ahh. . . how refreshing. . ." Jericho sighed, rubbing the nape of his neck sympathetically. He wished he could've been as easygoing as he was in their situation, but he always seemed to be the person in any group to worry about these sorts of things the most.

Meanwhile, congregating behind the brooding Jericho were four elemental mages, per se, similar to the ones that Music Man was confronting below. However, the only differences were that two of them were identical to those below and the other two were not. The ones that weren't appeared to have an affinity for water if the way they dressed did not give it away already.

Jericho peered over his shoulder to look at them, not saying a word. If not for his mask, they would've been able to see his sympathetic, relatively pitiful gaze. The assassin felt somewhat troubled that things would have to be so messy and didn't like confrontation. "You guys really messed up our routine, you know." Jericho began indignantly, large magic circles beginning to sporadically appear across the rooftop, and from them coming large hounds that easily toppled over all of them in size. Their flesh melted from their bodies but never truly fell off completely. Their fangs were bared and eyes were fixed on the group of elemental mages. "Do you have any idea how you're going to make up for it?"

The Music Man Comes To Play

Baird snickers to himself as he listened to the other male say what they were gonna do. "We could still do it… right? I don't think this will take too long to deal with. Just gotta skedaddle fast with getting rid of these punks. Maybe stage them to look like they turned on one another or so?" He snorts as he liked that idea. Would his partner like that? Probably not. Did he care? Absolutely not. He barely felt the mages who had worked their way up behind where the two had been, kind of purposely leaving them for Jericho to deal with. While he was supposed to be silent and in the shadows, Music Man wasn’t too much silent. Not with his music was he at least. He was everything but silent. He was ready for some fun now.

As he was confronted by the fire mages. They didn't seem all that amazing to him. Decked out in black robes with black masks and hands on fire. Really rather lame if he thought so himself. The Music Man heard sounds coming from the roof, and honestly thought that his partner was already having fun up there! Maybe he should have stayed. A grin came across his face from under his mask as he glares ahead. “I guess I need to up my game.” He swings his axe around in his hand, making a rather wide circle next to him as he did so. The mages each seemed to have blades of flames with them. Oh fun. Maybe Poseidon would have been a better weapon to use for this than his Guitar of the Earth. Oh well.

The mages seemed to come at the Music Man and he quickly brought forth his guitar in front of him and began rocking out on it a bit. It caused the mages to stop before him as a wicked grin was near plastered on his face under his mask. It also got the attention of some remaining people over in this little area. The Music Man quickly used his guitar to summon forth ten vines that grabbed hold of the supposedly innocent people, and threw them at the mages. Two distractions in one go! As the four mages were trying to protect themselves from flying bodies, the Music Man had quickly ran at them and swung his ax at neck level with one of them. Maybe he shouldn’t have done that if he was trying to make it seem like he was not the one who did this… but then again they had swords. And so did other mages too it seemed from up above.

These fire mages tried to shoot a beam of fire at the Music Man, but he had grabbed the body of the one he just lopped the head off of, and used it like a human shield. Like hell would he let himself get injured! Not with these psychos. He looked over to the boat, and glares a bit. That black obelisk seemed mighty suspicious. Maybe he could break it to help himself and Jericho get back on task… first he’d have to get through the nimrods here that were trying to eliminate him. “You think you can get away with that? Try again, buddy!” After the fire went away, He quickly went after the remaining three and swung his ax at them. One of them put up a shield of fire and the Music Man had to redirect himself away from the fire. Now this was a bit of a pickle… Water… he needed water. That would work easily if he was able to summon it. He hit a rough patch with his magic apparently. Didn’t help he had been distracted by his recent marriage. He hoped it would pass soon.

An idea came as the Music Man held up his hand and mumbled something under his breath again and suddenly he had a skull lyre in his hands. “Care for a nicer concert? Oh, and trust me. I’m only killing you guys because you’re in my way. And you tried to come at me first. If it weren’t for that, I’d be on my merry way to my target and probably done by now.” He snorts as he begun to play the lyre with a weird song. Next thing that happened, the lyre turned into a rake? The strings had pointed themselves forward over the skull and curved much like claws while the horns seem to stack together and form the handle of the rake. He grinned as they were utterly confused by his magic. What was it supposed to do? If it was supposed to confuse them, it was working. These remaining three fire mages quickly shake their heads and realized the Music Man was right on them again, and he swiped out his rake to get them. It caught the neck of the first mage, and ran across the face of the second, missing the third as he was a bit away from the other two. He had been right. His distraction caused for the shield to be lowered. Now they were fair game again.

    "JERICHO"
    1,369/7,000 words ||@Baird|| job info/job info || Daddy Baird

Sitting on the edge of the rooftop, Jericho carefully observed Music Man confront his enemies. He was quite interested in the man, and rather enamored with his music, even though it was unpleasant to most ears during battle. It was difficult to put a name to it, but Jericho seemed captivated in seeing his colleague exhume all the characteristics and traits he did not have. His carelessness, his ability to make light of circumstances such as their own—in some shape or fashion, he felt a little jealous. While he was able to feel so animated by the situation, Jericho felt troubled.

Hmmm... music magic? Or maybe it's a sort of ReQuip? Jericho contemplated as he watched him attempt to fend off the group of enemies below. Although Music Man's carelessness piqued his curiosity, Jericho seemed more careless than he'd like to admit to. Meanwhile, while Music Man fought below, there was still a threat above. The Elemental Mages on the rooftop hadn't disappeared, but Jericho didn't feel inclined to pay them any mind. It was his Disease-Riddled Hounds that they had to worry about—and they were so numerous that there was hardly enough room on the rooftop to fit the whole pack.

Unlike other summoners, Jericho specialized in necromancy. The fiends that he held dominion over didn't succumb to external damage as ordinary summons did. In fact, you could burn them to smithereens or tear them to shreds, and they'd continue to animate as if nothing had happened at all! It was the one trick that Jericho had up his sleeve, and the one advantage he held over a lot of other wizards—not that he was competing. All of his necromancies' lives were stored into lacrimas etched into his own flesh, separating their life from their bodies and turning the Necromancer and the Necromanced into one life pool.

It was because of that fact that the battle between Jericho and the four elementals behind him was hardly a battle at all, or at least wasn't one worth turning around to pay attention to. Within the few moments, the beasts were summoned, all gathered and lunged at the elemental mages in unison, never flinching or stifling their bombardments when a stray fire beam or water blade crashed into their torso, piercing their ribs and slicing apart their abdomens. Pieces of the hounds toppled to the ground, but they continued to strike them.

The rooftop was quiet now, save for huffs, puffs, and panting sounds of his hounds. When Jericho peeked over his shoulder again to see what had transpired, he didn't sound surprised at all when he saw that only bits and pieces of the elementals remained.

"Oh," Jericho perked up, "that was quick..." When he turned back to watch Music Man again, he noticed that he hadn't quite finished his own battle yet. Jericho called out to him. "Do you want any help, Music Man? I'd be happy to lend it—or are you having too much fun?" Jericho asked sarcastically.
