Whether the Ace of Spades was calm or busy on this fine day did not matter, for at least a portion of it would be thrown in a mild chaos soon enough. Close to the castle that served as a guild hall occurred a bit of an explosion, of sorts. It was magical in nature and left a bit of a hole in the castle walls, as well as ruble that went flying just about anywhere. Though no one known was hurt. Despite that, there was a small figure sitting, leaned against the damaged wall as if it was source o the explosion itself.

This figure appeared to be of a young girl, bare of any apparel. And though it was hard to see from distance, any look from closer up would reveal that it was something she would not be needing much anyway. Though clearly trying to mimic the body of a human being, parts exposed machinery through cracked skin and few holes allured to the girl’s true nature. Even her magenta hair seemed to now unnaturally glisten in a plethora of colors as the Sun shone upon it. And as of right now, she was not moving a single inch, her eyes closed.

At least until someone would finally try to see about the magical explosion and discover her.

    GAIA SABIN
    The Cards Aren't Always Right
Gaia was sitting in the Red Dragon Inn with her fuzzy white ferret, when she heard a crash coming from the castle. She blinked as she lifts her head up and quickly gathers her things. She wanted to see what it was that was posing as a threat to her hometown. She gathers the white fluffy ferret in her arms, and dashes out of the tavern to go and investigate said explosion. She makes her way towards the castle and weaves around the group of onlookers a decent distance from the explosion. As soon as she made it through, she pulls out her staff from her bag on her hip and holds it tightly in her hand.

The tarot mage was wearing a short lilac high-low dress with shoulderless semi transparent sleeves and a matching cape that also attached to her wrists and went to the ground. She had on white thigh high stockings that had matching lilac zig zags at the top. “Let me get closer!” She calls as Noya scurried to her shoulders and was on alert from up there. She adjusts her blue rimmed glasses and got closer to the castle, cautiously. She noticed the girl leaning against the wall, and moves to remove the cape from her shoulders and wrists. She was still cautious as she held the cape in front of her and walked forward. She looked around, then to the girl. She had been trying to see if there were others around. Noya jumped down and went ahead of her master to investigate this person. Her burnt sienna eyes kept on the girl as she noticed the machinery. She wasn’t sure if the thing was even working…

Noya went up to the girl, sniffing her to see if she would move or anything. Her fur was fluffed up a bit as she too was on high alert for the machine parts to activate or do something. Gaia had made her way towards the girl and crouches a few paces from her, knees together as she did so. Her cape was over her legs, in case she was working, or conscious, so she could give it to her to cover up with. “Hey? Are you awake?” Was that even the right words to use? She hoped so as she watched the girl figure before her.

Post by Victoria Sheridan 26th June 2019, 9:42 pm

Wearing a blue short-sleeve t-shirt and black skirt with white tennis shoes, Victoria wore the Red Dragon Inn apron over her clothes and was behind the counter slinging drinks for the customers. It was a fairly good day to sling drinks and she was making decent money for the inn, but the real money came at night and on the weekend. Those times tended to be when the most drinks were ordered and when Victoria was the busiest. Unfortunately for her today was a weekday; those were still busy days but were nothing like the weekend rush. Still, she was thankful for the side job because it brought in money, it let her talk to the customers in an "official" capacity, and it was a nice change of pace from life-or-death battles.

Victoria had just served a martini to an affluent businessman in an impeccable blue three-piece suit when she heard a crash coming from the castle that was part of the guild hall. Without missing a beat Victoria raced from behind the counter as the customers ducked for cover under the wooden tables. As one of the guild's strongest mages, she took it upon herself to keep the guild hall safe from any and all threats because when someone threatened the guild hall, they threatened the brown-haired mage and her interests.

"I'll be back in a few minutes!" Victoria called out to Will before bolting from the inn. She was out the door before Will could give verbal confirmation that he had heard her. There was an understanding that guild business came before anything else, but she did not want to abuse the man's generosity by letting her work here and not give him notice when she had to leave for guild business.

    -Outside the castle-

Victoria hurried to the castle and weaved through a crowd of onlookers hovering just outside the castle. Gaia was already on the scene and was wearing a nice lilac outfit, which was a stark contrast to Victoria's everyday wardrobe. Lately Ratatoskr had taken up hurling insults about the brunette's limited wardrobe towards her to get a rise out of her. So far Victoria had not taken the bait, but the loud-mouthed squirrel was asking for a beating. Only the wrath of Ryo, Aura, and the Guild Aces had prevented the brunette from giving the overconfident squirrel the beating he was begging for.

"Hey Gaia, what's going... on..." Victoria asked the bespectacled Ace but trailed off when she saw a small girl with magenta hair lying on the ground. The brunette could see that the small girl had suffered injuries that exposed... machinery? Victoria's heartbeat quickened. This was something she had never dealt with before.

Victoria stood at Gaia's right side and tried to figure out where the youth could have come from. Victoria hoped that there would be no conflict today and that this was just a strange accident. Still, the brunette would fight if there was a need to.

The machinery and flesh alike were unmoving, perfectly still aside from the faint breeze trying to play with the long hair that pressed up against the broke stone wall and floor. In fact, it seemed that this was the first part of the young girl’s body that reacted in any way. Though it was not to the presence of others approaching, but the Sun that decided to peek through the clouds and rested just in the right place for it’s warm rays to directly fall upon this inanimate form. In the light, the magenta hair started shining in all sorts of colors, from blue through yellow to even greens.

And while it was a beautiful sight, it probably did not distract anyone from a faint noise that started penetrating the bowels of the machine. As if something within her had started slowly turning… increasing with speed each second. But once again, it did not take too long before this increasingly louder sound disappeared, as if it reached an optimal state where it could be masked. It was then that she finally moved. First her hand, a number of her fingers twitching, as if testing whether they even could move at all.

After those, her eyes opened. Slowly and carefully, they revealed astonishingly beautiful golden optics. But they were eyes of no human, as small screens and symbols seemed to flash within them, perhaps showing the mechanical girl something that was not meant for those around her. And unless they already took action against her, the unit’s head would slowly turn with some visible difficulty toward Gaia, the one standing closest. Upon locking their gazes, her mouth opened and out came the voice of a young innocent girl, one perhaps currently unfit of tarnished appearance that was on full display for anyone nearby.

Response: This unit has started up in an emergency mode.

Query: Are you this unit’s designated master?

    GAIA SABIN
    The Cards Aren't Always Right
Gaia seemed to give a quick glance towards Victoria when she was asked what was going on, and simply shook her head. She had no idea what exactly was going on really. She makes her way to the little girl before she crouches down near her. Victoria would see that Gaia was tense and her bag was wide open for her to have easy access to her cards. She was ready in case of danger too. The tarot mage couldn't deny that looking at the girls hair was a pretty sight to see. The various colors of the rainbow it seemed to show. She half wished her hair could do that too. At the same time, she was proud of her hair though. At the noise, Gaia started slightly standing up and took a half step back, hand raised near her pouch, ready to grab a card and use one. She wasn't sure of the noise. As it stopped and the fingers started to move, Gaia was holding her cape in one hand, the other hand near her pouch still, and she cautiously looked to the mechanical figure before her. Then the eyes opened.

The Sabertooth Ace kept her wits about herself as she assumed a more calm stance as she watched how the girl before her come to. She couldn't deny that the eyes looked pretty and we're intriguing to look at, but she wasn't sure about the girl still, especially since she looked towards Gaia. Her cheeks flushed as she tried to smile, cautiously holding out the cape to her. Then she spoke. The question caught Gaia off guard and she tilted her head. "Uuuh… I'm not your master, sorry… I don't think you have one… or need one?" She decides to give her a chance. Stepping closer to the girl, Gaia gives her a small smile. “I’m Gaia Sabin. An Ace of Sabertooth. Are you able to move at all?” Her eyes glance towards her body, and holds out the cape to her. “Would you mind wearing this? To not make other uncomfortable? I can help you put it on.” She murmurs as she turns her head towards Victoria. She wanted to make sure she still had someone there while she was helping the mechanical girl out.

She turns back to the girl, and purses her lips a bit. “Would you happen to have a name? Or even something you go by at all?” Honestly, if she didn’t, Gaia would probably feel inclined to think up a name for her if she would be okay with it… but first they’d probably have to see about the state of her. Noya had crawled up towards the girl, and started sniffing her a bit, wondering what was up with her body. “I… I’m not sure if we can repair you…? Or if we have anyone in Sabertooth able to…” She bit her bottom lip. She had seen some machinery before, but not too terribly much of it. Maybe Motor City would have better mechanics? She wasn’t too sure if she were honest.

Victoria blinked when the small robot girl asked if she or Gaia was her master. The robot girl had beautiful golden eyes that reminded the brunette of her mentor Florence, but she was completely without clothing, which was completely awkward for the brunette. Still, Victoria could not detect any hostility from the new arrival, even with her new ability to analyze body language for lies. Either the robot was unreadable or she was not here with hostile intent. Victoria opted to believe the latter and put aside any thoughts of combat with the new arrival.

"I'm not your master either, ummm.... what's your name?" Victoria asked the diminutive robot. She looked away while Gaia used her cloak to shroud the girl from observers and spare everyone from the sheer awkwardness that came from interacting with a naked robot girl in broad daylight. Victoria was glad that the Sabertooth Ace could think on her feet because the former was at a loss as to what to do to remedy the situation. Once the youth was shrouded Victoria looked in the direction of the covered figure and spoke to her again.

" By the way, I'm Victoria. Victoria Sheridan." Victoria introduced herself to the small robot girl with golden eyes. This would be only Victoria's third encounter with a robot since dealing with Dr. Hanlon's creations in Motor City and seeing that creepy Entertainer robot when she visited his lab to see the DH-40 Chiron he had created. It was safe to say that the brunette knew nothing about robotics or robot repair, so she was not the mage for the job of fixing the new arrival.

" I don't know how to fix her, Gaia. We'll need to find someone who can." Victoria admitted to the Ace. Maybe Gaia knew someone who could help with their unusual situation.

The unit’s scanners desperately tried to make any sense of the situation she had found herself in, but for the most part, all that came up were error messages due to excessive damage. However, it seemed that at least one of them managed to pass though, indicating that there was no hostile intent around her.

Good thing, too. Even if Mai was hostile for some unknown reason, she was in no state to do any fighting here. And the answer to her first question came out as a negative as well. Tilting her own head to the side as if to mimic Gaia, she spoke again.

A binding organization detected… result: this unit will be registered as the property of [Sabertooth] until further notice.

Right after the informative message, she would attempt to move just as was inquired. With some awful screeching noise, she was eventually able to at least partially move all of her limbs. Only, as she moved her left hand up, the structure of her skin would completely break.

The visible cracks grew much wider and with a snap, a good half of her entire arm fell to the ground, leaving few sparkling wires hanging out of the mechanical orifice that was created by this. Mai stared at this for a bit and then turned back to Gaia.

Assessment: this unit is in critical condition. Movement without any assistance is not recommended.

She would also tilt her head to the side while observing the cape as if she was mimicking what the other mage did before. Her logic circuits did not manage to come up with a good reason as to why she would be asked to cover herself with this piece of fabric, but she could not complain.

    Request: assistance is required.

Moving the broken arm, she indicated that it would be a bit difficult for her to put anything on herself in her current state. But once that was done, the machine girl looked much better. With at least some of the damaged covered, she could almost pass for a regular human.

But when it came to the subject of a name, it almost seemed as if she got stuck in a logic loop or something. Until a few seconds later, she would finally open her mouth again and try her best to reply in a way that would be satisfying.

Error: the concept of ‘name’ does not apply to tools such as this unit. However, this unit’s designation is 207-4-57-9, an advanced mobile artificial intelligence. M.A.I for short.

It was clear that whoever her creators were, they were not interested in giving the machines they created names. For they were nothing more than just soulless hunks of metal and plastic, nor living beings. At the very least she had some designation, though.

Response: this unit has access to an atomic fabricator tool within its assigned pocket space and blueprints of her default frame. All this unit requires are raw materials and ethernano particles for self-repair to be initiated.

    The Tarot Mage
As the machinery had ‘registered’ itself as Sabertooths property, Gaia seemed to frown a bit. Bound to the guild like this? Was it okay? She honestly didn’t feel so. But she supposed her guild was better than some random person picking her up off the streets would be better overall. They could see the purpose of this robot and provide a home for her. She pauses and watches as the girl before her attempts to move, but her arm just fell right off and she seemed to watch it happen. Her jaw hung open as she didn’t know how to respond. “Movement without any assistance is most definitely not recommended.” Gaia couldn’t help herself as she moved to help put the cape on the girl, sitting her up more and helping her stand up. “Lets get you inside the guild and away from the crowd. Victoria, could you do me a favor and grab her arm?” She questions her other guild member curiously.

When a name finally escaped the robot girls lips, Gaia frowns. “No real name? Wow… M.A.I., or Mai would sound nice though.” She smiles sweetly to the other. As she and Victoria had both said that they didn’t know how to fix the robot themselves, she seemed to provide a solution that rather impressed Gaia. She blinked and grinned a bit. “Well then! That’s fancy. How about we get you out of this rubble and into the guild hall instead? Hm? And we’ll see what we can do to help get you fixed up.” She muses to the other before she used her guild mark to teleport from Ace of Spades to the guild hall. She was supporting M.A.I. for the most part, and if Victoria came to help, she had the other girl help lead the littler one to a room. If the other female didn’t, she waited for her to bring the arm she asked her to grab.

“M.A.I. Do you know where you came from? Or why you crashed here?” Gaia couldn’t help but question on the way towards the room. She had chosen a room that was rather decent sized for the robot to start getting herself started fixed up, wondering what it would be she would need. Gaia gasped as Noya pulled a card from her deck. A little trick she learned from Ryo. “Oh! If you’re going to be apart of Sabertooth, you’ll need a mark on you that proves you’re with us. Where would you like it?”

"Um, sure, Gaia." Victoria replied as she took M.A.I.'s other arm, worried about whether onlookers would think that Sabertooth was up to something sketchy. Thankfully the respected Rising Star Gaia giving her cloak to M.A.I. made it look more like an effort to help the new girl instead of a kidnapping in broad daylight. Having nearly been a victim of human traffickers herself, public perception concerning the sight of two young women taking away a third one had set Victoria on edge. She was reluctant to lay a hand on M.A.I. until Gaia had requested her help.

Unlike the people of Ace of Spades, the people of Capital Crocus could have cared less if youth like M.A.I. fell into the clutches of human traffickers and disappeared. Victoria would not be surprised if the Capital Crocus police were paid off to turn a blind eye to slavers roaming the streets in search of street kids to catch for their nefarious ends. She would also not be surprised if the slavers were clued in to where they could find "merchandise" by wealthy people offended that there were poor people who had the temerity to live in "their" city.

Victoria disliked that city so much that she only tolerated going to it for the sake of her job as a Sabertooth mage. Everything about it brought back bad memories for her. Memories of how people who should have helped her could not or would not because they thought that street kids were trash or they were being bought off to ignore the problem so that slavers could make it go away. Beneath the glitz and glamor of that city was a lot of filth and corruption.

Victoria pulled herself out of the intense dislike she had for Capital Crocus and focused on M.A.I., who said in a lot of words that she could fix herself. Victoria was intrigued by that. M.A.I. had to be an advanced model for that feature to be included.

"You said that if you have the right stuff, you can fix yourself? Is there any limit to what problems you can fix?" Victoria asked M.A.I. with genuine interest.

Watching an arm just kinda fall off a humanoid like that would probably be a bit jarring. Hopefully the exposed machinery help any and all onlookers to deal with it a bit better, as well as the absence of blood. Although that was something Mai would have to fix later on if she wanted to enhance the believability of her being.

System: Setting a new designation for this unit: Mai. This unit will effortlessly reply to this ‘name’ from now on until the setting is deleted.

Though such a thing would probably never really happen. Humans weren’t exactly used to addressing others by a series of numbers, and the name was rather easy to say and remember. It might as well have passed as a real name, too. Helped by the two women, she then remained rather calm and quiet, at least until another question was asked by Gaia.

Error: Corruption detected within the black box and memory regions. Information regarding location and point of origin unavailable at this time.

In other words, no dice. At least not for right now. Once seated inside of the room, the machine girl started looking around, scanning the entire area and committing its layout into her memory. Though she didn’t know if she would actually be staying here for an extended period of time, or whether this was merely temporary. Her eyes slowly drifted across the two girls.

Response: This unit’s body is made out of resilient and elastic material. Among others, it is designed to repel damage as much as possible. Applying a mark may be problematic. However, this unit can project a mark onto its body if shown how it looks like. This unit can also fix or create anything as long as it possesses the necessary blueprints.

Trying to appease the questions of both Gaia and Victoria, the unit hoped that she did a good job. Even in such a state of disrepair, it was her primary goal to serve those around her. So if they had questions, she absolutely had to answer them in a way that would hopefully satisfy the needs of those who were asking.

    The Tarot Mage
A grin was upon the tarot readers face as Victoria had agreed to help her out. She had given her a quick nod. Noya had made her way up onto Gaia’s shoulder and looked over at the robot near her master. Gaia was a little impressed that this machinery was able to simply accept it’s new name rather easily. Honestly, she was a bit happy that it did. She felt it was much easier than having to say each letter, M.A.I. constantly. “Don’t worry, I don’t think we will remove your name, Mai. Others may find it easier to talk to you with that name as well.” She muses to the robot rather happily.

When they were inside the guild hall, a frown started to form on her lips when her question about where the female looking robot child came from, or why she crashed. She didn’t have an answer for her… Honestly, that put a damper on Gaia’s thoughts. Victoria asked the newcomer a question, and Mai seemed to respond to both hers and Victoria’s questions. No mark could be put on apparently… but that unfortunately wouldn’t do. “I am sorry, my dear, but to be able to get in the guild hall and be apart of Sabertooth, you will need a mark on you. It does not do anything besides allow you to come from Ace of Spades, where you crashed, to come up here in the guild hall.” She explains casually to the robot. She looks at the girl wearing her cloak, and then gasp as she had an idea. “I shall be back in a moment. Victoria, may you stay here briefly?” She questions.

Regardless of Victoria’s answer, Noya had stayed behind and went up to the robot to investigate her for herself. Of course the little creature was curious about what in the world this thing was. She had never met one before. The only thing she met were humans really! And a werewolf once. The humans the snowy ferret was iffy comfortable with, it depended oh how they themselves seemed to act. And the werewolf was okay, he did not bother her after they calmed down from meeting the tall giant the first time. A few minutes later, Gaia had returned with a folded stack of clothes. “Here! Some clothes!” She muses. “We humans aren’t too fond of others being nude, usually. We are especially not too fond of people whom seem like children to be running around in the nude too.” She hoped it would be adequate reasoning for the robot to don the tank top and shorts she got her. She had also gotten her a belt in case the shorts didn’t fit.

After briefly stamping the robot when she finally got herself fixed up, Gaia had left the room and stretched a bit. She looked to the card that her little snowy ferret had picked, and noticed something. “Noya… you picked two again…” She mumbles as she knew the ferret did a reading basically. Holding the cards, technically, upright, the tarot reader spread the two cards apart. She paled a little at the second card underneath the now blank one that was used to stamp others. Reverse Page of wands. Was this in respect to the new member? The page ment lack of direction and negativity, and even feeling caged. She takes a deep breath and shakes her head. Only time would tell.
