Along light-brown coat laid folded on the chair next to her with a dark blue shoulder bag on top of it. The woman looked out of the window, passed her own reflexion, at the passing landscape. Her reflection reveals a sorrowful pale face, the corners of her lips hung downwards. Her deep blue eyes were stark and lifeless yet seemed to emit a faint glow. Her eyes were surrounded by heavy cobalt coloured eyeliner. Kaja Jelen stared through the window of the train, her head supported by her arm. She looked at the scenery that speeded by. She appreciated the sight, it was hypnotic. It was an activity where she was fully able to have a clear mind. It is as if her problems, her anxieties, just pass by. A moment without worries. It was one of the things she liked about travelling by train. You sit down, and everything is for a moment outside your control and you don’t have to do anything. Suddenly the scenery turned black and the sound of the train turned hollow. Two ice-blue eyes, with a wicked smile, stared back at Kaja while they drove through the tunnel. Her demon stared her into her very soul. For a moment she felt vulnerable, the world seemed to fall on her. Her fears and worries returned to her. Then, the light reappeared, and they left the tunnel behind. The eyes were gone. Kaja, heavy breathing, looked through the wagon for a moment. She took her gaze, a bit uncomfortable, back to the window and the meadows that passed by. “I spooked you, didn’t I?” Said an eerie voice in her mind. Omni, her demon, spoke to her. “Was it fun? I think it was funny that you freaked out. However, it was disappointing that you didn’t lose it.” Continued Omni. Kaja tried to ignore his voice, to close her mind and take in her the scenery outside. Slowly the voice of Omni grew softer and softer till it disappeared. It was the first time that she was on a train to Rose Garden and didn’t know all the tunnels. She was unprepared to drown Omni out before he had a chance to toy with her. Omni would still be able to influence her if she was prepared but less strong and he would sometimes not bother her. The reason that Kaja took the train to Rose Garden wasn’t fully by choice, she has just been accepted into the organisation called the Hidden Blades. A group of assassins, it was Kaja’s first time to work with others, but she needed contacts, and above all money. She hasn’t been long in Fiore, she had fled her country of Bosco after she faked her own death during a law enforcement raid on her hideout. Her hope is that she would be able to rebuild her life, her carrier as an assassin, in Fiore. This job she had been assigned too was with another member of the group, they had to take care of the trouble for a certain company. Their goods usually didn’t arrive at the designation of late, nor were the transporters of those lost shipments ever found. They have the task to find out what has happened and to take out those, or what is, responsible for the disappearance of the missing goods. Kaja arrived early at the specified randevu point in a dark alley, somewhere in the middle of Rose Garden. Her partner wasn’t there yet. Kaja wore her guild uniform, something she had to get used too. She had trained with it a couple of times but still wasn’t confident that it wouldn’t get in her way with fighting. Her body was mostly robotic, except for a few organs such as her brain and central nerve system. Her robotic body existed out of tiny nanoparticles that could easily adapt to her will. There were hidden weapons build within her body that she could use whenever she needs it. |
