”Ah, uh sorry…” Kenna muttered softly, taking a sip of her whiskey. Its strong taste burned on her lips. Sarah didn’t seem to linger much on her sudden question though, and instead asked whether she wanted to listen to the rest of her story, which the white-haired demoness nodded to. ”Yes please, you have my full, undivided attention.” she said, taking another sip from her drink. The longing stare she got from the red-haired woman made her blush softly, opting her to throw the entire glass back at once and refill it again. Which she in the end did. And so she listened intently at Sarah's story, finding it remarkable how many similarities they held with her own history. She too didn't know her biological parents because she was taken away as an infant; although that was to safeguard her rather than abduction by a group of cultists. Her human foster parents had been sweet to her for the short few years she knew them, but during it her guardian, a demon shapeshifter, had always watched over her. He'd even become her “imaginary” childhood friend, and taught her things her foster parents couldn't, which in a way made her raised by a demon too. Though Avide’s intent was only to protect, and not to fuel any demonic parts or magic.
Among it all she also noted how that she indeed was trained to hunt demons, but wouldn't blatantly kill someone without a justifiable cause. She didn't discriminate between races, which actually eased the demoness’ heart. But what probably surprised her the most was the subtle mentioning of Sarah's first time, with a succubus. Curious. Although it hadn't been her first ‘first time’, Kenna's first time with one of the same sex too had been with a succubus, coincidentally in a similar setting as the current one she found herself in. Recalling that night and the chances of it happening again tonight made her blush even harder, to the point that she wished to drown in her glass. ”Coincidently, so was mine… in a way” she mumbled into her glass, gulping a large portion of the contents of her freshly-filled glass down. The soft thump of Sarah's glass on the table made Kenna look up; she'd been holding it all this time, so the fact she actually put it away for a bit must've been a sign of the seriousness about to come. And because of it, the demoness decided even more than just her full attention would be needed. The glass lowered softly, Kenna stared at it then back at Sarah, contemplating for as long as a second before following her example and putting away her glass as well. She turned a bit more as to better face Sarah, and leant her shoulder against the back of the couch, her eyes pinned on the demon slayer before her.
And thus Sarah told of how Amaymon had dropped her off in a forested valley after teaching her everything he knew. How she was tasked to become stronger, join a guild, how she found her way to Aurora and made friends within the guild Kenna guessed she'd come to see as a home. But the demoness had heard of the rumors of the Magic Council disbanding Aurora. Details had been passed around but she hadn't paid much attention to it altogether, knowing better than to believe the words of an in her eyes corrupted institution. There were always reasons for disbanding a guild, but even so, truth was the last thing she expected from the Magic Council. Not after that. If it weren't for her current position as a legal guild’s ace she would have pursued her old goals anew… and destroy them. Sarah was visibly struggling with what came next, and as soon the first tears welled up in her eyes had Kenna reacted, throwing her arms around her in a tight embrace. A pleasant warmth radiated off her skin as she did, slightly warmer than a regular person was supposed to feel. ”It's fine, Sarah… you will be fine. Aurora may be gone, but you're still part of it. Each of you may have gone your separate ways, found new alignments or even places to call ‘home’, but in the end your bonds with one another will always connect you and the mages of Aurora. No matter what happens.” Her voice was soft and gentle when she spoke, and after holding on to the redhaired mage for as long as she needed her to, Kenna let go again, both hands resting upon Sarah's shoulders. One hand rose to cup the demon slayer's cheek, her thumb gently brushing an incoming tear off her cheek. Her golden eyes dug deep into Sarah's emerald ones, a kind smile resting upon her lips. ”It's hard at first, I know… but it'll get better. That's something I can promise you, Sarah.”
