Re: Book Return Run
-Hargeon Town, inside Veronica's home-
"Oh, Miss Winchester! It is nice to see you again!" Veronica greeted the blonde mage standing in her doorstep while standing on crutches. She was wearing the same outfit she had worn when Diana rescued her from the Haunted Castle minus the scarf around her neck. It was way too warm for a scarf and almost too warm for Diana's "office lady" outfit. The blonde mage noticed a white plaster cast on Veronica's left leg
"I understand that you have a job for me?" Diana inquired. Veronica turned around and hobbled over to her coffee table to pick up a book. It was a thick hardback book with a brown cover and the title on the spine was written in gold letters. It was titled The Musketeers.
"I am unable to return this to the library, so I am asking you to return it for me." Veronica requested. Even though the pay would be low, Diana would take the job because she had already come this far out. Besides, it was nice to see a friendly face again.
"I will take it back." Diana said to Veronica. The recovering blonde handed Diana the book and thanked her for taking the job.
"I appreciate this. Now I must study for school exams. I hope we meet again." Veronica said before shutting the door. Having been given her mission and the book, Diana began searching for the town library. It was not too hard a search because she found it just a few blocks away by going in a straight line to the right of Veronica's doorstep.
-Inside the library-
It was a medium-sized but functional library with rows of bookshelves with their contents neatly organized and a well-lit reading area with people sitting quietly at tables. Diana spotted the semi-cicular circulation desk and walked up to it. She handed the book to a middle-aged woman wearing the stereotypical brown-rimmed glasses of an older librarian. The woman scanned the barcode and thanked her fore returning the book. Diana had completed the job just like that.
She turned around and walked out of the library. Perhaps she would pay a visit to the library again one day.
-Back at Veronica's home-
"Oh, hello there! You returned the book for me!" Veronica said to her. At first Diana thought that the reaction was overblown, but then remembered Veronica's story about being constantly alone and not having very many friends because her parents were workaholics who practically lived at their shipping company. Diana kept quiet and accepted the gratitude from the young woman.
"Thank you so much! Here is the Jewel reward!" Veronica said to her, handing her a bag of Jewels. Diana accepted them and put them into her pocket. Veronica then lingered for a moment before shutting the door and hobbling back to wherever it was that she studied in. Diana stood at the door for a moment before turning around and heading for home... such as it was. Veronica's home felt every bit as desolate and sterile as the home she had left behind in another country over four years ago.
