Kenna stared at the toy in confusion; it wasn't all that big, fitting perfectly within the palm of her hand and reminded her of the one her younger brother-figure and friend Imai had. What did he call it again… a bey? A beyblade? Yes, probably something like that. She looked up and frowned at Imai, who'd just handed her the item a few moments earlier, and looked back and forth between the two a few times more. ”You made this yourself, Imai? For… me?” The red-haired ace nodded in reply. “This one's called Chain Herakles, like the constellation of foreign God of Strength, Herakles! He’s like my Galaxy Pegasus… be it more, eh, fierce than Pegasus.” Imai said, giving her a sheepish grin. Well, she couldn't quite blame him for finding it a fitting spinning top for her, especially after their last encounter in the hidden ruins of Mysterious Canyon. That one in particular had been rather ‘fiery’ if so to say; something she regretted deeply, but didn’t know the source of. Perhaps this could help her come to terms with her violent nature? The demoness nodded and looked at the spinning top clenched between her fingers once more. ”Chain Herakles, eh…? And what exactly is it that you want me to do with it?” she asked, eyeing Imai with a curious look in her eyes. Almost instantly she could see the smile on his face widening into an enormous grin. ”Glad you asked! There’s a spinning top tournament on Galuna Island, and I want you to win it, Kenna.” Kenna wanted to protest, but Imai wasn’t done talking just yet, so she decided to wait till he was done talking before opening her mouth. ”They aren’t just toys though! Some are infused with magical energy, and the people at this tournament on Galuna Island are planning on giving quite the show. It’s gonna be amazing!” Imai exclaimed excitedly. “So in order to win you’ll have to beat them at their own game, by opening up to your spinning top and synchronize, balancing out your existence with its own and functioning as two organs in the same body…” Kenna frowned and stared at Imai, not used to the young man saying such deep things. She may or may not have looked a bit dumbfounded at this point. Imai however did not seem to notice it in his excitement over the matter. “If you do, you can tap into its power too! And since I thought you and Herakles would be a great team together… you know! Show the people at Galuna what you can do, Kenna!” The young stellar mage knuckle-bumped her fist, leaving the demoness lost for words for a split second, still trying to catch up to what she’d just been told. Though before she could ask for anything, someone had already swept Imai away for other business, leaving her on her own with the toy in her hand. ”Dear god… you can’t be serious that I have to attend and win a children’s toy event, right?” But Kenna knew fairly well that she in fact would have to do so in the end, especially after having confirmed the tournament actually being existent and in the process of taking applicants. And by the looks of it, Imai had taken the liberty of signing her up already too. The demon heir sighed. ”To Galuna it is, then…”
Galuna island seemed bright and harmless from the edges of village she was staying at together with the other participants. Challenger Village; a village especially designed and resurrected for the sake of the first Galuna Championships Tournament, to house and hold the competitors and spectators for the upcoming week of battles on Galuna Island. To the demoness’ surprise the spinning top tournament was far more than just a public happening where people made their toys fight. From the planning she’d received preliminaries were to be held on the first and second day, all battle royales with at least 10 participants, of which the winner was allowed to participate in the next bracket. After the battle royales the official tournament would begin on the third day, with a large festival to entertain the visitors that wanted to do more than just watch the many battles taking place. The battles on the third day functioned as a versus round with four participants, called “All Four One”, a nifty (yet to many rather lame) pun on “All for One”, with the intent of only allowing one winner per battle to proceed to the next rounds. What followed after were many more elimination matches between the winners of the third day on the fourth and sixth day, with a break on the fifth day to allow everyone to make preparations and take a breather. On the seventh and final day the grand final would be held, where the unbeaten blader Ryuga would be the most certain to await you in the battle royale dome.
Kenna stared at the schedule and sighed. Wonderful. Not only would she have to plow her way through several hundreds of participants only to be qualified to participate for the actual tournament, if she even managed to get as far as the finals, she'd be doubtful of beating someone like Ryuga. Although never having seen him in the flesh, Kenna knew far too well what he was capable of, through L-Drago’s destruction. She muttered something inbetween her teeth and took the small bag she'd brought for the occasion off her desk, fastening it to her waist with a dark belt. Within the bag she kept her launcher and Chain Heracles, along with an emergency repair kit Imai had given her before she'd left for Galuna. Not that it mattered much, as she had no idea how to even start repairing this thing... all she could do was hope she wouldn't have to either. The demoness got up and checked everything a last time before heading out, wanting to go and do some training by herself, more to get a grasp on how to handle this spinning top than anything else, but never got the chance to as a series of numbers were called to head to the stadium within the next half hour. Her number was among them. ”Crap… hopefully I can wing it through this round.” she muttered to herself, making her way towards the arena.
The arena itself felt like an illusion; from the outside it already looked enormous, but once inside one could actually see how gigantic the dome actually was. Kenna took a moment to gaze upon the many battle rings spreading before her, with several dozens of youngsters standing at the edge, fiercely engaged in conversations or stare downs with friends and foes alike. Seeing all these kids gather like this she felt old for once, and severely out of place. She bet she could be twice the age of some kids walking around this place, yet even so she was one of the smaller participants present. Only left and right did she spot the occassional adolescent, and even a handful of adults, which comforted the white-haired woman a bit. At least she wasn't the oldest one present. Once more her number was called, stating her and the others of her batch to gather at the battle stadium on the far south-east of the giant arena. Kenna followed along quickly with the masses making their way towards the smaller stadium, almost dancing through the crowd as she dodged several people in her attempt to move forth. Once there, Kenna realised she'd only be facing a multitude of children during this fight. With it, she missed the countdown while overthinking things, and quickly searched her pockets for the beyblade and launcher she needed to use; when she readied, the entire arena vibrated at the combined force of several thousands of voices shouting in sync. “THREE, TWO, ONE--- LET IT RIIIIIIIIIIIP!” The demoness failed to pull her string when the signature words were spoken, baffled by the mere thought of saying such nonsense, but got herself together just as quickly, launching Heracles when all tge others had already touched ground in the ring.
“This is ridiculous--- GO!” kenna shouted, pulling back the string through her launcher with a powerful jerk. Chain Herakles shot forth in a fiery blast, looking more like a blazing arrow shot from a powerful recurve bow into the stadium. The many beys already within the ring had been circling in perfect unison with one another when hers entered, smashing into the stadium’s surface with a large explosion. The impact had been far more powerful than she’d ever held possible, as when the smoke lifted Herakles could be found in the middle of a destroyed stadium; the last one standing. Audible gasps could be heard throughout the stadium’s crowd, and even Kenna stood gawking at the ‘stupid toy’ she’d launched only moments before. “You got to be kidding me…” she whispered to herself as the referee announced her victory in loud voice. Not that she was paying attention to it, as she was way too busy looking at her swirling toy. Slowly she extended her hand, and saw how it moved back, jumping over the edge back at her. Kenna plucked the beyblade out of the air and stared at it in disbelief. “This can’t be qualified for kids… definitely not.” The demoness ushered, clenching her hand and leaving the heightened platform to make way for the next ones to start their battle as soon as the ring was fixed. She couldn’t believe these toys had such power behind them… was this the magic Imai had been talking about?
