    OOC NOTE

Hey guys, so our first ever Cross Guild Scale event has started, should at any point you need to refer to the rules, you can do so here, and any reference information with need on Tsak Ordahic can be located here.

During this thread, as you know there has been an outbreak of a disease that has broken out has began infecting people in Tolgalen, and is at risk of spreading further. Our task is the scout the area for intel that will aid the mission at hand, helping us understand more about the nature of the disease and it's connection to the flora and fauna in the area. Information of what we'll be facing can be found here. As the team leader of the group, I will be in charge of spawning enemies. However for the rest of it, it's pretty flexible. Other than that, Let's all have fun with it~

Post by Nessa Cordelia Lux 20th January 2019, 6:29 am

Nessa arrived in Tolgalen in the early hours of the morning, sun still fairly low in the sky. It was cold, the air around her felt ominous, she didn't have a good feeling about this. She had been assigned her team for the investigation; it consisted of two Fairy Tail members she was very familiar with, Aven and Markus. Alongside one member of the West Fiore Trading Company, she had worked with before, Haraka. Their instructions had been to head to Tsak Ordahic, and scout the area for any information that may pertain to the disease. It had been pretty awful to witness, that night at the West Fiore Trading Company's Winter Ball. The deranged fellow who could not make any sense of where he was or who he was. As well as the other, covered in a plague, boils and skin defects. Nessa knew the West Fiore Trading Company wanted to handle this matter as urgently as possible, and had even sort out the help of the team in the alliance, Fairy Tail and Silver Wolf. Both of which had seemed happy to lend a hand on the matter. Of course, they would; this wasn't just some small matter, this is a lethal disease that could spread further if they didn't eliminate the problem now, who knew how many would die. No, if they didn't contain this problem while it only lay in Tolgalen, who knew how far it would go.

She was wearing her usual outfit, the white-on-white ensemble that she found so easy to fight with. A top and skirt, accompanied by plimsols and knee-high socks. Today especially, she even wore white gloves, a precautionary matter considering with the infectious nature of what they may have to deal with. Her hair tied back in a loose ponytail, and satchel at her side. Around her neck, a sparkling blue gemstone, radiating with a slight magical power. Out of habit, she would twiddle with it as she walked along to the meeting point assigned to her team. She hoped this mission would go well, and she still hadn't addressed a certain matter with Aven. It was awkward, plus that incident with his mother hadn't helped. Then there was Markus; she wasn't really sure about the dynamic between the two of them, she was once under the impression that they were friends. But Markus had been gone for so long. She couldn't yet tell how they were going to be around each other, she had been quite distracting in the planning and preparation for this task, that she hadn't really gotten a chance to assess their situation. Plus there was that mission they did together, the one to Bellum which had been certainly eventful, Nessa learned more about Markus than she'd ever expected to be permitted to know. Yet at least now, she understood, she understood so much more than she had before. Nessa saw no issues with Haraka being there, Haraka had done well during their job around the Halloween period, they provided good support and was easy enough to get along with. Nessa was glad to have them on her team.

When she got to the outskirts of Tsak Ordahic, she sent out her guides of light. She would order the little balls of starlight to bring her teammates to her; the little balls would fly off to find them. They had agreed to meet there, but the last thing she wanted was for them to get lost on the way. Most of them were not familiar with this area after all. She waited for their arrival; she couldn't imagine she would have to wait long, they all knew the urgency of the task at hand. She would be standing there alone, no Sebastian or Arielle. She had strictly refused their presence during this mission, it was too dangerous, and she wasn't about to risk them getting hurt today. As much as Sebastian protested, his magic was too limited for even this. Nessa had put her foot down hard this time around, so firmly they eventually stopped arguing with her and realised just how serious she was. She watched as each of them arrived, once there she would speak. "Okay everyone, so as you may recall, a form of plague has invested these lands and manage to infect some of the people of Tolgalen. The disease has seriously disturbing side effects and needs to be contained. Our job is to head out as scouts. We need to gather as much information as possible; I'm talking about the wildlife, the fauna, the terrain, we need to assess the scale of what we're dealing with. Anything you see, note it in your mind so that when we return, we can report it to the other teams.  Gather as much information as you can, but do not wander from the group, I mean it guys. I know you're powerful, and you might think you can handle certain things on your own, but this is not a request, It's an order. Getting separated doesn't just put yourself at risk, but it puts the group at risk too. Let's work together and help each other as best we can okay." She said, looking around sternly. It was a little unfamiliar to her, being so bossy. Particular to Aven and Markus who she knew were highly capable of dealing with danger. Having seen them do it time after time on their missions together, but this wasn't just such a risky situation. If there was even the slight risk of one of them becoming infected, she needed to minimalise it. "Any questions?"

    Haraka Omaras

The morning had started earlier than usual. The shower taken was heated enough to make sensitization an easier task, using the same home made shampoo, conditioner, and soap that he normally did. Despite not needing to wear the west fiore trading company uniform, the clothes on his person barely varied from it. A white dress vest, grey dress shirt, loose white pants, and dark dress shoes. Really the only different item of wear was the pants. Breakfast consisted of a fruit salad with chopped mango, strawberries, whole blueberries, blackberries, and kiwi. There was also a banana pudding that topped coconut pancakes. There was both the juice and bits of the fruits fresh white flesh inside, the well sized meal being accompanied by black tea. The man wanted to be as filled and fresh as possible for the job ahead. A bag was grabbed then loaded with supplies for taking samples after brushing and typing up their hair with a blue aquamarine tie. He left after Williams babysitter arrived, taking his wings and tail out after he was a few blocks away from the guild headquarters. Flight was how the man arrived to the meeting place. The mixed blood took the time before arrival to enjoy the silence within the darkness of the morning gifted. This left him with enough time to make solidly sure that his emotional and mental state was solid. When one could be facing horrors of misery, it was best to prepare for the absolute worst sort of sights. If one is ready for that then they will be more likely to be capable of handling everything that comes.

Of course there was always the chance that what is seen ends up worse than what was imagined as the worse. The mixed blood hoped that the later option wasn't the case. Of course all he could do was hope, there was no solid predictions in life. He arrived to the meeting place in good time, keeping silent. Nessa was someone he had met before, but the others were not. The half ice dragon would have spoken an introduction, but now really wasn't an appropriate time to do so. Soon they would all enter a dangerous area and gather information. Taking samples was also something they would need to do, fingers brushing against the white bag slug over their shoulder. Normally at the start of a job the ice blue skinned person would tuck away his tail and wings, this time was not an exception. Both limbs vanished away, hidden away along with the benefits oh having them out. This didn't make the half demon suddenly look normal in any sense of the word, but it did help. Omaras would never look typical, nor human. Pale ice blue skin, dark sapphire blue horns, long ink black hair, aquamarine blue talons, sharp teeth, aquamarine blue sclera, dark sapphire blue irises, and pupils that only became visible in the cold. While the morning was not chilled enough to boost his speed, it was still frosty enough to make the slit white pupils visible. He still managed to find a way to hold a gentle smile to his lips and tenderness within their unusual and slender eyes. It sounded like the leader of their group was someone who was prepared to take charge.

This was a new sight to him for this person, but it wasn't hard for someone barely known to show a new side to them. Did he have any questions? He knew how to find flora and fauna, what sort of notes to take, how to take proper samples... though the last part was likely easier for someone like him who had medical experience. Then again, they might all have medical experience. He didn't know everyones skills. Actually... could he ask? Would it be rude? Would it be safe to use edible healing spells while inside, or should those types be avoided? Edible types of healing spells should mote than likely be avoided. It was a good thing it wasn't his only kind, though it was a lot of it. Still, it was better to ask anyway. He wasn't the leader thus should not silently decide what to avoid using. Thus a quiet and gentle voice spoke out in as smoothly and soft as silk.
"Should healing spells that require ingestion be avoided while in the area? Should each of us share what out magic can do?" No guild would bubble up for not speaking now that the question were asked. Not envisioning himself at being good leading anything, trying to be a good member of a group was something he felt capable of. A good member doesn't wonder things and then now ask. If the masquerade had shown anything, it was that they all needed to do a good job. Everyone who was working on this had their own groups, each group having different tasks. He had picked to be part of this sort of team due to wanting to help gather whatever information that could lead to a possible cute.

Before a cute could be made, one needed as much information as possible, and samples that would give information on how everything that was infected was effected. What kind of doctor would he be if he didn't try his hardest to aid in this situation? He knew that he was far from being the strongest person, nor the finest doctor. There would still be shame felt if he didn't try his best. Doing your best as a member of a team meant asking questions when you had them, staying in a group, and listening to the leaders orders.

The Blood of death kept me breathing. From that fluid birthed a new rhythm.

Post by Aven Alveron 20th January 2019, 8:15 pm

The light shown brightly through the curtains of the Alveron estate, filtering through a certain window on the second floor, casting dawn's first glimpse over a collection of haphazardly scattered books. The foremost, leaning halfway open on a sleeping Aven's head, was a volume titled, Tenvil's Complete Almanac of Botany. From the sparse morning rays, Aviel's condensed form materialized, bringing him to rest beside his resting charge, shaking his head with a smile. Aven had been up all night familiarizing himself with the plantlife and other organics that could possibly be found in Tsac Ordahic, the location of the Alliance job starting that day. Sometimes, the angel really did wonder how his descendants were still empty-headed academics like he was so long ago: it must have run in the Alveron family, though it seemed to skip some generations, as evident with the boy's mother. Likely, the stress of a big mission was just embraced as a welcome distraction from familial matters, judging by how fervently Aven had taken to the research.

All good things must end, however, and with a small shake, Aviel attempted to rouse Aven. "It's time to wake, Aven: you've got to get ready for your job today." No response, the boy was out cold, buried in both sleep and various textbooks on flora and fauna. Aviel tried a second time, "Aven, you've got to get up." Once again, to no avail. A spark of annoyance lit in the Seraph's gut, and he lifted Tenvil's Complete Almanac of Botany, a book likely heavier than his current body, closing it, and summarily striking Aven's head with the binding quite forcefully. "Up and at 'em, Aven!"

With a start, Aven rocketed upright, apparently woken from a dream. "The genus name 'Arnica' may be derived from the root 'arni', "lamb", in reference to the plants' soft, hairy leaves. Arnica is also known by the names mountain tobacco and, confusingly, leopard's bane and wolfsbane-" Another, softer, strike with the Almanac, and Aven woke up completely. He massaged the back of his head as broodingly as he could manage, though it wasn't an expression he'd much practice with, so it appeared more as the gaze of a sad puppy. "That isn't a very nice way to wake someone up, Aviel. Aren't you supposed to be an Angel, I thought hurting others was a sin?"

Placing the hefty botanical text next to its kin, Aviel chuckled wryly. "Sins don't exactly apply to Seraphim, Aven: I know you delved into Angelology a while back, don't play coy with me. You need to be at the meeting place in no less than four hours, or were you too wrapped up in 'wolfsbane' to remember?" No doubt, it was only a drousy man's protest, rather than a true inquiry into Angelology, but using the topic as a springboard was only fitting, to get him on his feet. If Aviel knew the young man, he'd want to be fully showered and preened before meeting up with the team; or, more specifically, Nessa Cordelia Lux.

Aven, on the other hand, had other matters clouding his mind, so his response to the quip was only to rise and go about his morning routine. Sloppily, of course, and even after his shower, Aven didn't bother to spend the time fixing up his silky white hair, and even a trip to the mahogany armoire next to his bed, the result caused Aviel an inaudible sigh. Aven left the room silently, dressed in simple, casual clothes, just jeans and a white button-down shirt, left open to reveal a simply patterned t-shirt below. The young man was nearing twenty four years of age, but only then had he stepped into his rebellious phase. Aviel shook his head as he dissipated into the light, to pursue Aven ethereally. It hadn't been out of the blue, but rather, a direct consequence of the young man finally remembering his actual childhood, and more pressingly, the twin brother he'd forgotten.

Aven took to the stairs in the grand foyer, with abandon, and passed into the dining hall, where he shared a passing glance at his mother. Lady Drani returned the glance as best she could, but the tension between the two was palpable. Words that should have been spoken a decade ago now hung heavy in the air, so antiquated that they seemed irrelevant, yet still weighed down the tongues of the Alveron household. Even as he sat down, and Lucie brought out a fresh plate of bacon, cherry juice, scrambled eggs, and buttermilk waffles drizzled in a mulberry fondue, not a single utterance broke the calm of silverware clinking lightly on fine china.

Aven finished the meal quickly and efficiently, giving a light smile and nod to Lucie in thanks for the meal, who returned the gesture when a curtsy. The maid's expression once Aven had turned to leave was all but smiles, though, a coating of sadness of worry masking what should have been a jovial morning. Before he could make it out of the room, Drani's voice cut through the murk, the strain of a choking regret crippling the powerful and commanding tone it normally carried. "I only did it to protect you."

Aven paused in the doorway, tempted for a moment to turn and face his mother. All that resulted was yet another numbing silence, his hand rising to clasp the pendant hanging around his neck, before he spoke his first words to Drani in the month since he'd gotten his memories back. "I wasn't the one who needed protection." With that, silence reigned once more, and after grabbing the stark, white cane in the bin beside the door, Aven set off from the Alveron manor. Inside, Lucie's fuzzy ears drooped in melancholy, while Drani shuddered under the weight of her burden. The woman excused herself summarily, while Lucie promptly tidied up the table, making sure to toss Lady Drani's silverware in a bin for recycle, as they were irreparably bent.

Aven neared the meeting site close to the ascribed time, having a small bit of difficulty in the winding roads and swampy terrain. He'd dressed casually on a whim, not having felt very connected to the Alveron family heirarchy as of late, but that just might have played out to his advantage: there were many instances where he found his athletic shoes sinking into the ground, and even the air was wet with foreboding. He could tell immediately, this wasn't going to be a job to wear a suit to. Luckily, his direction troubles were assuaged when a familiar orb of light zoned in on him from a distance, a faint smile breaking the gloom on his face. Nessa... Guided by starlight, he found himself in view of Nessa and... was that... Markus? Aven's smile widened, and he waved as he drew close, though he kept the chatter to a minimum. Nessa, apparently, had decided that no swamp would stop her from dressing to the nines, looking just as beautiful as ever, and he gave her a winning smile. He might tease her later about dressing all in white to go on a nature hike. Markus, on the other hand, was much different, not only in his clothing: he looked much older, somehow, more mature, and, even after giving the man a triple take, the detail that baffled Aven the most was that his rival's eyes were no longer so distant and removed. What had happened in the time Markus was away, he wondered... a question for a different time, perhaps later while they were scouting.

There were supposed to be four members, and in no time at all, the final wizard arrived, one Aven had never met before. There was a moment where Aven had to really take in what he was seeing: the newcomer, from first glance, appeared to be a hybrid of several different creatures. Time began to slow for Aven, as it normally did when he began to focus, and his visual inspection of the varying characteristics pointed immediately to a dragon being part of the combination. The other half, he couldn't quite get a read on, but for the moment, it wasn't incredibly important. If they had any level of dragon ancestry, it was likely they'd be a formidably magic user, and that was enough for him on a preliminary scale. He'd inquire further to their specific style of magic shortly after they embarked, so that he could get a picture of what their team was working with strategically. Once everyone was gathered, Nessa gave a short rallying speech about the goals and trials of their mission. When she mentioned not going off alone, Aven gave Markus a big grin, as a gesture that she was probably talking to the both of them in particular, before the floor was opened up to questions. Aven was about to speak, to inquire about a possible fighting strategy, and updating each other on their magics, as both Markus and Nessa had obviously grown in leaps and bounds past Aven since he'd seen them in battle last, but the Newcomer beat him to the punch. Aven nodded in agreement with the Half-dragon. "I think sharing our combat styles and proficiencies is a perfect way to start, if we pair them with introductions! I'll start us off," He gave his signature purehearted smile, and steeped into a shallow bow, sweeping his cane across his chest before straightening. Regardless of what was going on at home, he wouldn't let it interfere with his passion: Wizarding. "I'm Aven Alveron, a wizard of Fairy Tail. A few of you know me already, but for anyone who's curious, I'm primarily a mid-range fighter, setting Magic Circles that persist over time and echo their effects." With a small wave of his cane, a two foot wide, golden magic circle appeared at the top of the smooth white metal, facing up and touching the cane only barely. A flick on his finger, and the circle seemed to multiply into four separate copies, all stacked on top of each other and moving in sync with the top of the cane. "Optimally, I'll be a short distant away from enemies, hitting them with projectile type magic. I can also cast shielding spells, though I'm still working on a good number of them." With that, he waited for others to follow suit, paying close attention. It would be crucial for him to play off the others strengths, as he could tell in an instant that he had, by a decent margin, the least amount of magic power among the group.

    Markus Eldridge

Dancing, the movements were slow, methodical, warry. The two mages stepping with the music, eyes focused on one another as they caught up on four years of missing friendship. They had set boundaries, broken those boundaries, taken jobs, and grown immeasurably in such a short time. The Chaos Mage and Starlight Maiden had met at the ball, an event that lead Markus to his current predicament.

Taking a deep breath, he pulled on his bracers looking himself in the mirror. His hair had grown quite long, when not pulled into a pony tail it would reach his shoulders, and even he could notice a difference in the eyes that looked back upon him. Dressed in his combat Vestments he was prepared for battle. Letting out the breath he was holding the chaos mage thought back to the two figures that had interrupted the ball.

One of the two had gone entirely insane, unsure where he was, and Markus though, who he was. Markus remembered the vacant look in the mans eyes, the utter agony he must have gone through. The second man was different, but no less gruesome, more so even. It was obvious this man was covered in plague, with damage and infections covering his skin.

The West Fiore Trading Company had acted fast, getting the two away from the populous and reaching out to the alliances. Fairy Tail, and Silver Wolf had all been happy to provide this aid, and over a short while the three guilds mobilized. Now however, it was time for action. Markus had been assigned to remain with Nessa, the other Fairy Tail Repetitive who had seen the two first hand, as members of the scouting regiment. Their job would be to meet with the rest of the team, and set off into a land known as Tsak Ordahic, gaining any information that would be useful to putting a stop to whatever this was, long before it spread to the rest of the populous and world as a whole.

This was no small issue, there was no telling how fast, nor had deadly this plague could become, should it get free. Markus was on high alert. It made sense to be scouting first, however all that really meant was they knew nothing, and were to find out as many answers as possible before the other groups were sent to handle their tasks. This put their small team in utmost danger, something the chaos mage was certainly hesitant about. Taking a breath he gave himself one final look before stepping from the washroom.

The large stone room was just as it always was, plain, empty, dark. The fire going in one side did nothing to quell this darkness, the large bed had been made hours ago, and the easel had been cleaned, sitting upon its frame Markus’ current work a depiction of a mountainscape half covered in shadows. Turning from it the chaos mage strode onto the balcony and found himself exiting the castle which expanded behind him.

Looking at the Domain of Chaos was always strange, and heartening. Where some would see a chaotic mesh of colors, lights, sounds, and sights the mage saw order, functionality, seams. Chaos was not what many imagined, and in fact was cut from the same cloth as Order. Neither of the two could exist without the other, and as such neither could function without hidden influences of its counterpart. Taking a deep breath Markus prepared to open the portal.

“You have grown Progeny. When you first entered these halls and spoke with the primordial you were but a boy, angry and contempt. Yet now I look upon your, so many years later…” The voice was feminine and serine, calm yet deadly. It belonged to the Nephilim Demonic Angel Aporia. Her voice perfectly mirrored her nature and could turn on a dime. “You must be careful out there, I know you, how you think, and what you will give up… Do not die will you? I would hate for Chaos to have to find another Progeny.”

The chaos mage smiled, saying nothing. The voice was in his head as always, whispering from the back of his mind. He had learned much, listening to that voice, yet even then he knew to be careful. Aporia was old, as old as time from what Markus could tell. He had learned she was a Seal, a being in place should be apocalypse ever be called. She was the Sixth Seal, the Seal of Chaos, and long ago she had sworn herself to the Primordial Chaos until such a time that she leaves the beings services in order to complete her purpose. At one time Markus did not trust the creature, however that had changed.

Closing his eyes Markus searched within the chaos, searched for the tether that would link him back to Earthland. When he found it there would be a ripping sound within the air, as his body was forced from the void, forced into the land of creation.

Opening his eyes, the chaos mage looked about, getting his bearings. He was in the outskirts of the Tsak Ordahic the land he was to scout. Mere moments after he appeared would his vision be flooded with light, and he realized only a few feet from his position would be a ball, a small star. Looking up Markus saw Nessa. “I guess he was to lead me?” The chaos mage asked passively. By now he had no doubt she had gotten used to the sound associated with his arrival, his teleportation. As such he continued on as normal, he knew with her power surely, she wouldn’t be surprised.

The was dressed as well in her usual outfit and battle attire. A perfect mask to his own it was pure white in color. After a brief glance he looked back at her eyes. Much had happened between the two mages, and he knew their story was only beginning. He placed his hand upon her bare shoulder, and leaned in to whisper.

“You have this, you are smart, brave, and more than capable. Trust in your instincts and know I have your back.” He would say softly before looking over. He could see someone waving, a male figure he recognized immediately. Aven, another Fairy Tail wizard, with impressive gifts. Markus knew he would be on their team and let go of Nessa standing a little straighter. Markus had not seen the man much. Sense the Fairy Festival, Markus had gone to the West Fiore Ball, and then made his return to Fairy Tail official, having spent the last few weeks on jobs until he was called to handle this matter. It was strange for Markus to see the other mage dressed so casually, Markus had only ever seen him in suits. Markus nodded to the other man, staying silent and passive.

They did not wait long, something Markus was very happy about, for the entire group to be together. The final member Markus could tell was of the West Fiore Trading Company, and looked much like Markus would have imaged, which meant to say he looked like a wizard. The chaos mage had grown accustom to strange things when magic was involved, and this man was no different, yet still Markus nodded to the blue skinned male, and remained just as silent. It seemed no one wanted to give introduction, at least not until their leader has spoken.

Markus turned towards the Starlight Maiden when she spoke, giving them a brief introduction to the current situation. Markus of course having been at the ball knew what to expect, but he was certain to listen for any new details. Nessa being an Ace meant she was privy to the back-room discussions and helped in the getting Fairy Tail mobilized for such an event. He nodded when she spoke about their job, which seemed to be exactly as Markus expected. Glancing Aven as she spoke about wondering off Markus would give him a nod, smiling was still not in his nature, but the chaos mage for the others message, even if he did not particularly agree, nor-disagree, Markus was usually one to act on whim, so he understood the needed reminder. When she was finished talking Markus kept silent.

He had no questions, in all honesty he was of the impression that they should get this job done as fast as possible, after all there was much to be done once they were finished with their scouting, and the other teams needed no delay. Yet, it seemed Markus was the only one of that impression, as the other mages spoke. Markus was never one to share information, in fact he hated social situations and conversation far more than that of monsters, yet in the end, he knew it was needed, and the blue skinned mage had a point. Markus knew he would probably not be eating anything while on this scouting venture, they knew not if the pathogen was airborne, not that consumption would stop it if it was. However, it did give some important information, the mage could heal and provide support.

When Aven spoke, Markus turned towards him. It was standard for sure, Avens magic would fit any of the teams should they need to set up in advance. And, he was good on acting on the fly setting off his magic circles in an impressive display of speed, as long as he did not overdo himself once more. Markus did raise a slight eyebrow as the mage spoke of shields, an ability Markus had not yet seen. The chaos mage had seen Aven fight at the Fairy Festival, and knew the mage had gotten stronger, in the end he was not surprised to hear he had a few new tricks as well.

When he was done Markus took a breath. Might as well get this over with. “Markus, also of Fairy Tail. I work with darkness, shadows, and chaos. Long story short, I am a bit of a utility knife, and can go where needed.” He turned towards Nessa, “You have a good understanding of my skills, I’ll of course follow your lead.” He said passively. Everything he said was true, and it was as far as he was concerned all that was needed to be said. He could deal damage, heal, shield, and even control the battle to some extent, in the end he really would be best acting as needed, and providing firepower or support as the situation demanded.

With a slight sigh he would listen to anything else being said but keep his eyes to the land they were to enter. They might need to strategize, but in the open was no place to do such. Just because they were on the outskirts of the local did not mean things could go wrong from any moment, as such the chaos mage would keep his eyes towards their goal, waiting, watching. He glanced down at his shadow, knowing the second set of eyes would be invaluable at the tasks they were about to set out for. Markus would hold his hand out as the shadow materialized into a large wolf who like himself would keep its eyes towards the ominous lands.

When everyone was done speaking, he would speak once more, before they set off. “Here, this should help in case the worst were to happen. Those ruins will protect you from harm and provide some healing should it be needed." Markus said to no one in particular. Waving his arm through the air he would send out a pulse of chaotic magic which would attach itself to his allies forming a temporary rune to appear on their right shoulders. It would resemble the tattoo Markus had on his own body. He knew the feeling would be strange, for a brief second those touched by his magic would feel a chill before the connection was formed, however the ruin provided much more safety than one would believe, not only protecting one from harm, but healing should one find themselves in danger.

[Team 1] Plains of Disease (Aven, Markus & Haraka) Empty Re: [Team 1] Plains of Disease (Aven, Markus & Haraka)

Post by Nessa Cordelia Lux 25th January 2019, 6:35 pm

Nessa's violet eyes stared at the plains around her. She took a slow, steady breath; there was an eerieness about the place. Perhaps it was the knowledge that somewhere in these lands, stemmed whatever it was that was causing this vile disease to spread. It was strange, looking over the gloomy swamplands, it was beautifully still at the moment, yet something dark was looming over these lands. Nessa couldn't help the unease she was feeling, whatever it was they were about to deal with. It wasn't going to ease the task ahead; she was glad she hadn't allowed Sebastian and Arielle to come. This was going to be tough, maybe too tough. Arielle couldn't do anything to defend himself against attack and Sebastian couldn't fight in a way that didn't rely on him getting close and personal with his targets. Considering the infectious nature of what they were dealing with, it didn't make sense for him to fight this battle. But as for the other team members, well, at the very least she was glad she wasn't doing this alone. She had Haraka, Aven and Markus; they were good mages, they would be fine. She would be fine. She had to trust in herself, she had come along way since she stepped through the doors to Fairy Tail, she wasn't a weak little girl who could barely expel her Starlight without getting Nauseous. She had fought and fought, and now she was here. Her magic capabilities had reached levels she never imagined; she was a fairly successful Ace for a guild she loved and even a Wizard Saint. Everything she could have possibly hoped to happen had happened.

Yet still, despite all of this, something... was missing. There was still something there, a niggling of a doubt. There was still so much that hadn't been dealt with; there was an unsettling that had been bothering her for a while now. Not just the explained darkness that loomed inside of her and tended to come out whenever she got angry. That was something she also needed to handle; she had hoped that with her growth of power she would get more of a handle on it. Yet, it didn't seem that way, if anything it only made the 'thing', whatever it was, feel more menacing. She couldn't help but feel like whatever it was, only fed on her power, like a bubble inside her.  Filling herself with magic, compiled with all the negativity she ever felt. It was enough to put her on edge, a constant sense of anxiety, that one that that bubble would pop. And whatever came from it, no amount of tranquillity magic or calming would ever put a stop to.

Then there was the other thing, another reason she was on edge. For a while, it had been going on. She had tried to ignore it, to pretend it wasn't happening. But the better her sense got, the more she felt it. Someone was watching her. It had began not long after her Aunt had gone away, busy working on the job that had seemed to be keeping her away for so long. She had tried to track them a few times, yet had never found anything. Not even a scrap of evidence, whoever or whatever it was left no traces. Yet still, she had felt it, she was sure of it. The only doubt she had was that maybe, whatever it was that was inside her was making her feel unnecessarily paranoid. She sensed magic nearby, causing her to push these thoughts to the back of her mind. It felt familiar, she smiled, knowing who it was — looking up, as he approached her. He was wearing what appeared to be in all black gear, assorted with various items that would likely aid his fight. He stepped over; maybe it was the look on her face, perhaps she had been looking uncertain. But he raised his hand to her shoulder and spoke. His words of reassurance making her smile. She nodded, appreciating it. Things had changed between them, four months ago, Nessa had been under the impression that they were close. Yet, that paled in comparison to what she knew now, after what had happened in Bellum. After, she had spoken to Aporia and learned what she did, after she had seen the truth behind Markus. She understood now, four months ago, she hadn't known him at all. She straightening slightly, that was enough of that. It was time to be confident, to do the role she was given. She had to lead this team, and believe in what Markus's words, to trust her instincts. She knew that allowing the self-doubt to sink in now of all times, could only hinder her ability to fight effectively, which was just something else that might put her teammates at risk. This wasn't something she could allow.

Aven's arrival was always welcome, Nessa knew better than anyone his competency as a mage. He was strong, smart, and a brilliant tactician. Not to mention the fact, there wasn't anyone she could trust more to have her back. She knew Aven would cover the team in any way he could. It was just another reason why he was such a great teammate and friend. She was surprised to see him wearing such casual clothes, Aven, who always seemed to be dressed to impress in the finest of suits. Was actually wearing 'jeans', it didn't look bad on him or anything, it was just a strange sight to behold. There was still a slight tweak in her chest, lingering slither of guilt. About what she knew, and what he didn't know she knew; that poem, those words, Aven's secret feelings for her. She wanted to address it, she did. But she wasn't sure what she would say, how she would even begin to handle such a feat. She had done something wrong, she knew it. She should have told him, the moment she knew, and yet she hadn't. She had hesitated. For so many, many reasons, and yet the longer it seemed to drag out. The harder it was for her to deal with it. Eventually, she knew it was going to happen, but Nessa just wasn't ready to face him. To admit she'd been hiding the fact she'd known for so long.

Then there was Haraka, in his male form. Just as she remembered, she smiled warmly. "Good to see you again guys," She said, before getting into her speech. It seemed to go down well enough; no one was annoyed or bothered by her words. Nor did they have any major objections. So that was good. Haraka began by asking a question, Nessa shook her head. "No. Please avoid ingestion anything while your here. The disease whatever it is, we've yet to determine it's level of contagion and how it infected the people in the way that it did. If bacteria can be transmitted by touch, ingesting it could be fatal." She answered, hoping this didn't hinder them in any way. His next question was answered by Aven, who began by introducing himself to Haraka. This was good; she understood that the only person who knew all three of them individually was her. So allowing the team to quickly get to know each other seemed like the best option. He would explain his magically abilities clearly and concisely. In the most Aven-like manner she could image, she smiled warmly. Despite her unease about her secret, she was still glad to see him. She hadn't nearly been around Aven as much as she'd liked. Even if she had intended to avoid him, she didn't need to put any effort it. She was kept so busy these days, she barely had time for her family, let alone him. The only reason she managed to see Arcadia enough was that she like Nessa was an Ace. It seemed with responsibility; free time became an easy sacrifice.

Markus would then take his turn to introduce himself, explaining his skillset, she nodded at his comment. She did know his capabilities; it was a well-formatted team. As the fellow aces, and guild members had put together the teams when Nessa had been presented with her. She had happily accepted it without resistance. She looked at the others, "Okay, well you all know me, but I'll offer my own introduction and magic breakdown anyway. Nessa, Ace of Fairy Tail, my primary magic is the ability to manipulate Starlight; ranges aren't really an issue for me as I'm trained in both close combat and have a few long ranged spells in my bank. My magic is mainly offensive but is also flexible in terms of both defence and healing. I'm also a Valkyrie Summoner, speaking of which." Following this moment, the aura arrive Nessa would shift slightly. She would pool from the magic inside her, the second source, gifted to her by the Valkyries. The violet colours of her irises would change, glowing a pure white. The Norse symbol marked on the back of her neck ould glow also, with bright white light. She would speak, her voice sounding as though multiple women were talking at once. "Tiphanae."

The wind would pick up, billowing around her, after a moment it would pick up in speed. Focusing on a specific spot, circling around until it formed a whirlwind. Growing greater in size until it was a tall as her, distorting the air in that particular spot. Then as quickly as it came, it would begin to settle and as it did, in its place stood a woman. She was undoubtedly beautiful, with delicate young features. Long fair hair that swept past her shoulders. Spread from her back were magnificent large white wings. Her slim figure clad in light armour and a long sword at her hip. Tiphanae, the Wind Valkyrie turned to Nessa, the air settling around her, becoming still once more. She spoke, her voice was soft and sweet. "Nessa Lux, I take it is time." She said, Nessa had already discussed this with the Valkyries, strategised and prepared them for the task at hand. As usual, they were always happy to help. Nessa would nod in response, "Yeah it is," Tiphanae turned to the others and bow in greeting, before straightening up to look at them all. Tiphanae had seen each of them before, at a different point of working with Nessa, Haraka she had met during that incident with the Black Powder that had affected so many. They had fought on the Celestial Sanctum together. Markus, she had met more recently, on multiple occasions. One of which was rather embarrassing for Nessa to recollect. She had never fought alongside Aven, but Nessa had introduced the two a while back. "It is good to be working with you all." She said politely as she glanced from one to the other, as her eyes fell on Aven, she smiled before addressing him, "Aven Alveron, I haven't seen you since you graced our Father's Hall, I hope you and Aviel are well." She said. Nessa remembered that night, that was the night Nessa and Aven had gotten drunken together on Valhallan Rum. Nessa has a vague recollection of what went on that night, flickers of memories. She was sure things had gotten rather heated between the Valkyries and Aviel, as well as Nessa and Aven had talked about some rather personal matters. Nessa would wait for Haraka to offer his own introduction, once they had covered there.

"Any more questions before we get started?" She asked, she wasn't sure if there was much else that needed covering, but she needed to make sure they were all prepared. Soon she would have to lead them into Tsak Ordahic, where who knows what was waiting for them. She just hoped that thing wouldn't get too out of hand, unfortunately, because they were scouting the area. The only information they had, was what the West Fiore Trading Company had been able to give to them about the island of Tolgalen. But even that had its limits. The risks were countless, essentially they were moving into the unknown, but the cause for which they were doing this, was for a good cause. If they contributed to the elimination of this threat, then the lives they would save were worth the risks.

    Black

    Haraka Omaras

It was confirmed then, the only person that knew everyone there was Nessa. The last time he had actually spoken to her was while the mixed blood had been effected by the light less night full of beasts. It made sense that she mad met the others though, of course it did. She was the only familiar face there, but still not someone he was all that close to. The only close relationships the multi gendered person had were spirits, elemental and plant. There were families the man had known for generations upon generations, traceable to the ancestors that fled the ice country so long ago. Aven had the look of someone innocent, which wasn't very surprising. Mage or not, there were always people who managed to not peek to deep into the darkness. There had also been a common and old trend among nobles and the wealthy to shield their kids. This person didn't look naive enough for the ice blue skinned person to assume the boy was from such a background. Perhaps it was merely a sparkle of youth? The look of innocence certainly had it's own beauty, a temporary part of existence that could never continue on with most into their elder years. For those it did continue within was a sad thing, loosing its beauty. Why? It meant those people hadn't fully experienced all the layers and beauties of life. In any case, The youth seemed very energetic and friendly, tossing introductions into the mix of things. They even started showing their magic a bit, certainly a friendly energy. It was a sort of attitude that Omaras almost envied, but that was okay. The man would make sure that such feelings were crushed under the oceans deep pressure.

That was slightly less formal than the young looking older man had thought things would roll, but that wasn't a bad thing. Keeping things stiff would have made communicating along the mission a little troublesome anyway. It was always good to know the names of the people you would work with. Though really, he was the only person on the team not from fairy tail. It was more than likely that those three were already quite familiar with each other. Well, it was both sharing the same guild and the way that two of them spoke to each other. The half demon was not a fool unable to tell when they were the odd one out. Being that person wasn't new either, even in his own guild. Then again was there anyone not odd that worked in the West Fiore Trading Company? Not that he would say something like that out loud. Maybe that's why it felt so homey to the doctor? Definitely not something to shout from the rooftops, but it was something he could ponder on another time. The second man in the group didn't really leak any sort of energetic or innocence. Maybe he was, or maybe not? At the least, he was far less easy to read. His description was certainly a lot more vague, but that might be more connected to not into doing introductions they seemed. Even if their eyes didn't scream it, the shortness in words, sighing, and other body language bits certainly hinted that. Well, darkness, shadows, chaos, utility knife, that was probably enough? Or maybe only their leader needed to have a good grasp on everyones abilities. The young looking man was even more unsure what to expect from the person after Markus ended up using magic on the group.

Well, they were about to go somewhere dangerous so at least it made sense. It was confirmed then, no digestible items on this mission should be used. He thought as much, but there was something nice about having thoughts of caution confirmed. This meant using less healing spells, but thankfully not all were consumable. Thought brought up a new concern to the front of the persons mind. As a medium, would the spirits he wield be safe? This was not something he could confirm without putting the spirits at risk, so the medical professional silently decided not to take that risk. Being a medium wasn't his only tool in magic capabilities. It was actually sort of strange to have so much magic. Why was that a strange thing to think and realize that he was a capable and decent user of magic? Despite his not so young age, it was still a very new skill for the half dragon to be able to use. For thousands of years his life had too much fear, working, and running away to preform it. Back then he had made excuses for why he couldn't, but it was a lot more obvious why it had been an issue now. His magic was something intimate that poured from the soul and into the blood. The mixed blood had been born with a severe amount of damage to the soul that affected his instinctual capabilities, reflexes, emotions, and thoughts. To make matters worse? The only time in his early ears that a flicker of magic showed itself, it was used to break off a small piece of what soul he had as it is. It wasn't until the gender fluid person was a full adult with a complete soul and time to think had they been able to fully reflect on the full cost of that damage.

It made it easier to understand why his elemental and plant spirit family hadn't been angry at him. In the end, all the rage, hate and frustration that had been aimed at himself was all paranoid falsehoods caused by underestimating the full extent of the damage. Even fighting was easier after recovering more, to the extent that it felt a bit awkward at first. It was strange to go from trying to figure out how to use skills you already knew and had to just using them. It felt strange because it hadn't been that easy before. He had been so close to death for most of his life without even realizing it. He had slowly started to accept at this point that this was the real reason he had medium like abilities, it was one of multiple magical skills some were capable of gaining through near death experiences. This also explained why they had never been in danger at any point when connecting to his wind elemental family member. Wind may have been a chunk of pure death in a tricky wind form, but it was still a spirit that held pure death essence in their veins. Those who connect to that type of wind spirit without a 'quality heart' are driven insane or lured by the voices of the dead. What was that quality? Haraka hadn't had the faintest idea what that even meant for such a long time. It basically had felt like a cryptic riddle spoken by a fae like entity that just didn't feel like being direct. The truth was that such a comment was never a riddle in the first place, nor was it saying anyone had to be a type of person. What did it mean?

Simply put, the heart needed to have a degree of death as a quality first. It was similar to needing to be inoculated for diseases you aren't immune to before traveling somewhere. But it also meant that for thousands of years he had been so broken that, thinking on it now? The man wasn't even sure how he got magic to work at all in that sort of state. It was good that the half demon had though. If they hadn't, then he wouldn't have traveled so far not so long after. It wasn't long after starting to learn magic that he tried to join the West Fiore Trading company, arriving at Tolgalen late at night and half asleep. Thinking about about that now felt embarrassing, but maybe that was a good thing? How can you say you've grown as a person if you can't wince at things in the past? But that hadn't even been five years ago. How long ago was it? He wasn't really sure, but maybe he should start paying better attention to that? Well, keeping track of growth wasn't as important as the actual growth anyway. He wasn't the most amazing of mages, but now the doctor considered himself someone a little capable. This was why he signed up to help with something important, because it felt like he could be some use. Things would get done with or without him, but there was a want to be part of the solution. So a gentle smile remained on their pale ice blue lips. The mixed blood had such a fit and healthy body that the common person would be unlikely to contemplate this person had any form of health issues. Most health issues are with the body after all, not the soul.

But it was more than okay that their tall and fit body made it less likely for an amount of people  to guess there had been any serious health issues. It suited someone who worked so hard all his life to create a smile good enough to convince the world that he was harmless. It was the same gentle smile that was on those full lips right now. Both arms were empty of items, but he still withheld from doing any magic work, or even waving a hand. Instead? One arm moved up, but towards his chest. Aquamarine blue talons gently moved against the white fabric of the dress vest, then past the guild pin until the spot where one might expect his heart. This is where the long fingers seemingly vanished inside him. No fabric looked torn, nor was there any signs of blood. Within seconds the digits emerged with a lantern that emitted a dim blue light. It looked coated in pearl itself, despite the patterns and mix of white and ice blue in its colors. The item was small, the size of a heart. The glass had a slight blue tint, having a thick and sturdy antique look. It was only after the item was being held in front of their person that the man spoke out with their quiet, gentle, and smooth voice.
"I'm Haraka Omaras from The West Fiore Trading company. I will avoid using my medium related spells and edible healing spells after we go inside. The magic I will be able to use there that wont put anyone at risk is ocean and ice magic. Most of my spells are short ranged, different types of healing and attack spells. I do have long range spells and areas of effect sort of skills."

The lantern was waved about a little in a gentle way. This was the first time handling outside of training with wind. The doctor wished he could say it didn't feel a bit like he was streaking everyone somehow, even if it was an internal organ that lacked the look of a typical one of its type. This was something he hadn't even shown or spoke about to his own fell guild mates yet. His lips scrunched briefly from the multitude of emotions and thoughts, a bit of purple color going to his face. No! People don't make this sort of face after they become thousands of years old! Well, they shouldn't, he was trying not to, but there it was. "There's no need to feel alarmed if you see me reach into my chest. I have two hearts, one of them can be pulled out of my body and used for spells. Others can touch or hold it, but it can only go far far from my person. It's not super delicate, but it's still an internal organ. It can be used for different spells, can transform into a weapon, and... letting someone else to hold it allows us to both share boosts, though we would also both share damage as well. Uh, anyway, it's nice to meet everyone here. It's also good to see you again Nessa." He wasn't sure if he should speak specifically to Nessas summon? Hearing about her magic and seeing an actual Valkyrie pop up in a non combative situation were two entirely different things. It would be a lie to say she didn't look beautiful and powerful. Were there any more questions? Haraka shook his head, placing the hand with the lantern to hide side. It would be easier to keep it outside of his body while they're working, that way he could access its abilities faster. There was a hope for no battle or danger, but if it did happen? He would rather have fast and easy access to it's abilities.

The Blood of death kept me breathing. From that fluid birthed a new rhythm.

Aven listened intently to the others speak. He knew full well there was much he could learn from the three of them, though how much of it would be applicable to his own magic was undetermined. Nessa's abilities, for one, were contractual: it wouldn't be possible to incorporate any Valkyrie magic into his Circles, as it requires a bond to their Pantheon, and her Starlight Magic, from his observations, was a bloodline trait, a magic he couldn't easily integrate into a multiplicative form. Markus', as well, was difficult to emulate, as it employed elements he wasn't yet familiar with. That could come with time, perhaps, if he was ever able to sit down with the man and learn about his power. Somehow, though, the thought of asking Markus for help or advice sent prickles down his spine. The magical marking that Markus had placed on all of them was no different, a small chill running up his back as the magic contacted him, though he allowed it. There were many things he thought about Markus, but a threat to Nessa and himself was not one of them. Besides, an additional contingency magic was always welcome: Aven was all for planning ahead.

The newcomer, Haraka Omaras, however, was the true enigma. Wrapping his head around a magic that involved removing one's own internal organs and giving them to others was... well, difficult at best. A small musing caused the corner of his mouth to twitch into a grin. I guess he doesn't have to worry about having his heart broken, does he? He resisted the urge to chuckle at his own joke, that would be weird without saying it out loud. On the other hand, Nessa had summoned Tiphanae, bringing an even brighter expression to his face, as he responded. "Of course, it's nice to see you, as well! Aviel said that he'd be meeting us partway through the mission: apparently, he had something to take care of."

Aven adjusted his collar, not used to his shirt being open like this. Normally, his clothing hugged his chest tightly, instead of the baggy fit he was dealing with at the moment: and an unbuttoned shirt at that, no less! Maybe he'd gone a bit too far into the casual, he'd actually copied the look from the cover of one of Lucie's books she left out. Oddly, the few illustrations he'd glanced at within didn't feature the corresponding character in much clothing, but that wasn't really his concern. "I don't know how long he'll be, we should probably just go ahead. After all, he can find me by my magic signature, easy." An errant flick of his cane, and the magic circles at the tip of the orb were joined by another of the same, and a pure white circle, as well. "Don't mind the Circles, I'm setting up my magic, just in case we run into any trouble." He summoned a small, azure circle, which shattered at his command, while the white magic circle began to pulse with energy. There was a small hesitation, but he steeled himself. I can't drag them down, not this time. I won't lose control! The white circle was joined by three others just like it, the growing stack of magic circles on the end of his cane starting to gain a noticeable height, like a small pillar of magical script. The eight of them pulsed in unison, and magic energy flowed from them into Aven, as he awaited Nessa's marching orders, and the small pillar of circles reappeared, same as before.

[Team 1] Plains of Disease (Aven, Markus & Haraka) 80tmCIY

Markus glanced around the group, gathering his thoughts. It would be fair to say he really only knew one person here, Nessa his ally and friend. Aven, while being his guildmate, was still very much a matter of curiosity for the mage. After all, they had battled long ago, and had small interactions since, but for various reasons were not very close. Honestly, Markus only hoped he could keep his cool. He knew the excitement of battle could lead to an overuse of magic, however doing such in an arena is far different than within enemy territory. For a brief second Markus studied the other man, deciding whether or not to use another of his runes to bolster his magical control. In the end the chaos mage looked away deciding it could wait.

Markus turned to Nessa when she spoke, reflecting on what he knew. She was a powerful wizard, he could feel power radiating from her, her magical aura stronger even than his own. It was strange, knowing she was the same girl who had slipped on the rocks less than a year ago. That girl had been naive, and unsure, at the time Markus would have never imagined she would become the woman she was now. Guild Ace, and Wizard Saint an H-Rank mage which power eclipsing many mages Markus had met. His lips would curl slightly, almost unnoticeably as he watched her speak. He knew her Valkyries were another matter entirely, and for reason he was not entirely sure about he had a feeling most of them did not have a good impression of himself. Not that it really mattered, after all many people had negative opinions of the chaos mage, and most of them were warranted.

The chaos mage turned his head as the final member of their group spoke. Haraka he named himself. Markus knew he had never met the man and did not remember seeing him at the ball though the chaos mage assumed like Fairy Tail the West Fiore Trading Company had many members, all varied in their appearance, and mannerisms. As he informed them that he was a healer Markus nodded, support is always beneficial, especially for a scouting party. They needed to proceed forward at a rapid pace, and the ability to quickly deal with damaging situations will be utmost necessary. The fact that he was also able to provide damaging support only made him all the more useful. Markus knew that when the guilds set up the teams they had put a lot of thought into how best to approach this unknown situation, Markus himself had no arguments with who he was pared with.

With a quick glance the chaos mage saw Nessa speaking with her summon Tiphanae, who would bow to the group. Markus nodded as usual, “Tiphanae.” He said simply, his tone passive. In the end, he found it interesting that when she spoke, she spoke to Aven, who it seemed had gone to Valhalla at some point. Markus knew little of the realm Nessa called her spirits from, but from his conversations with her knew that it was much like his own patrons domain. As Aven spoke about Aviel Markus looked towards his shadow, he knew his companion would be watching, waiting, preparing just in case. For now however, he would keep her hidden, after all a larger group only served to draw more attention.

Raising an eyebrow the chaos mage listened to Haraka speak about his heart. It was strange, to be certain but he could think of many benefits. In the end however, Markus was glad to know beforehand about such an… oddity, rather than just being handed the valuable organ. “Interesting.” Markus said looking towards the other mage, his mind already at work. “Nessa, you could hold his heart and I could boost both of you?” Markus said passively before glancing at Aven, “or you could?” He said to the white haired male. “I… I do enough damage to myself that it is too much of a risk for me to use it.” Markus said towards Haraka. After all, he would hate to kill another mage who was not used to the kind of damamge Markus did, Nessa had already seen first hand what he can do to himself in the name of power.

Finally, Markus stood straighter as the introductions were finished, coming to a brief close. He noticed Aven casting spells on his cane and nodded. “Aven, I have spells that can bolster your magic, and provide more control should you need or want, just let me know.” Markus said to the other man, the truth was he had many such spells and could boost the entire groups power to heightened levels, should he absolutely need to. Currently however, he would remain in control, hoping that the extra strength would not be needed. He had spoken with Aporia before arriving, the two agreeing that in this situation she would allow him to remain in control, even should he need her power. However, she made him promise to ‘owe her’ at some point down the line, letting her take control at her whim. Markus knew, if he was not careful, he would come to regret making that agreement, even though at the time he knew it was necessary.

Markus looked towards the group and decided to speak. “Aven, Haraka. I do not know how much you were told about this contagion but myself and Nessa saw its after effects first hand, and it is not to be trifled with. We know there are creatures within this land, but not how many, nor how strong, I however believe the biggest danger we face is the corruption itself.” Markus paused, looking at the members of his group. Thinking… contemplating. In the end, he knew it was their best option.

“In the name of Chaos...” Markus started, no longer speaking to the group. Those watching would see darkness seem to appear around the chaos mage, molding and warping as he spoke. “I name you Friends of Darkness.” The group would watch as suddenly the darkness around Markus would shoot forward, and for a brief moment it would seem as if the air itself cracked. Markus knew, he was breaking the laws of Earthland, and using the void to warp reality to his whim. At least, for a time.

As the spell faded the air would return to normal, and the sky would lighten once more. However, those effected would find their magical spells going much farther, and their bodies harder to infect by the contagion that plagued the land. “For now, your bodies will be able to fight of the contagion, and the void will purify your form. Just remember, it is only temporary, so we are on a clock.” The chaos mage said passively, placing his hand on the book at his side. He could feel his magic pull into the tome. He knew if needed he could do more, but as always, he was hesitant to use magic unnecessarily. He had spoken more in the last few minutes than he usually did over a week, as such he was getting antsy to be moving.

Looking about the group, Markus nodded towards Nessa, he had nothing else to add or ask. For a brief moment he would keep eye contact, reassuring her in what he had said earlier. He knew she had this, even if in the past he would have never thought she would be leading a team he is on. Like him, she had grown far in such a little time.

Post by Nessa Cordelia Lux 10th February 2019, 4:09 pm

Tiphanae nodded in response to Aven, Nessa watched the interaction. That certainly had been an interesting trip, but at least they got along. Nessa couldn't help but notice the curious way Aven was dressed. It certainly was different, he was so casual. More casual than she had ever seen him, she was tempted to say something. But she didn't, it was still too awkward, even for playful teasing. There was just so much unsaid, she had given him the necklace handed to her by his mother, and they hadn't spoken since. It had been strange, she wanted to ask, but she couldn't. There was like there was a wall there, created by the secret she was keeping from him. The truth she knew but couldn't bring herself to admit. Tiphanae turned to Markus who created her, "Markus, it is good to see you are fairing well also. I hope you are taking care of yourself." Tiphanae said sincerely, Nessa hadn't gotten the chance to ask Tiphanae on her thoughts as to Markus in general. She knew that Scythen favoured him and that Agatha favoured Aven, although their particular reasons weren't reliable. Tiphanae would be honest with her if she had an issue with their friendship, yet so far, the Valkyrie had said nothing. Then again, Nessa hadn't had the time to ask.

Nessa listened quietly as the group went around going through their magic, Nessa resisted the urge to grimace when Haraka talked about taking out his own heart. She knew full how vastly different magics could be, but she never had in her time as a mage heard of someone using their own organs to transfer magical abilities. She knew full well, if her father heard about this, he was be significantly fascinated. Probably little Haraka with a mountain of questions, and perhaps would even try to convince him to try out some harmless testing. Nessa, on the other hand, was a little uncomfortable with the idea of holding a heart. It just seemed kind of... icky. Nessa hadn't exactly been very good at those Biology classes that involved cutting up dead things and examining frogs insides. She doubted she would fare much better here.

Which is exactly why when Markus flat out went and suggested that, her gaze shot over to him, eyes wide. What the hell Markus! She practically shouted in her head, even though he obviously couldn't hear him. She couldn't believe he would just volunteer her for that; she glanced to Haraka awkward. "Actually, if it's all right with you, I'll um... raincheck on the heart holding. I have a somewhat of a weak constitution." Well, it was true,  despite the fact she had grown a stronger stomach since becoming a mage, but she doubted all her exposure had done enough to prepare for her holding a beat heart. She really didn't want to erupt her breakfast of Haraka's heart; somehow she felt that might have a negative influence on their alliance with the West Fiore Trading company. Tiphanae however shrugged, casually "I would be fine to hold it, it wouldn't be the first time I've held a beating heart. " Nessa's gaze went to the Valkyrie, looking slightly surprised, "Does this surprise you, Nessa Lux? I'm sure all my sisters have torn out a heart with our bare hands at some point before, the trick is -"

"Okay! Moving on." Nessa interrupted quickly, just as Tiphanae had raised her sword and began to gesture carving someone open. Nessa shook her head in disbelief. She really didn't feel like listening to Tiphanae graphic story about bloodshed and massacre wasn't really something they had time for. Nor, did she really wanted to hear it. She knew the valkyries had a long extensive history, involving many war and battles. They had experienced more than Nessa could ever imagine still, there were some things that Nessa would rather remain in the dark about. Cutting someone open and tearing out their insides, was definitely one of those things.

Markus would address the other about the pathogen, Nessa nodded. She would momentarily recall that gruesome scene. It hadn't pleasant to witness. Nessa was surprised it hadn't raised more panic than it did, knowing that out there was some kind of disease that could affect you so vigorously. If it spared your body, it would attack your mind and vice versa. He would then cast a spell over them; darkness would surround him, then shot outwards. The air would crack, and then Nessa felt it fall over her. It was familiar; she had felt this before, at least something akin to it. It reminded her of that place he took her to, his home.

He went on to explain what'd he'd done, Nessa nodded. "Okay, in that case, let's get moving. Markus, you head the front, Aven you flank left, and Haraka you flank right, I'll cover the rear. Remember guys, don't move too far. We need to keep inside each other magical range so we can assist each other if need be. Remember, as soon as you see anything weird, shout to the rest of us, so we're aware." She explained, hoping that this plan was okay with them, she hadn't had much time to strategise. But she knew that both she and Markus had the most magical range, "Tiphanae you fly above us, try to stay centre if can. If we run into trouble, fly down and aid whoever needs it most." She said, Tiphanae nodded, unfolding her great white wings, she kicked off the ground. Soaring into the skies above, she would find her position. Nessa would allow for the others to move ahead, before following behind.

As she walked, her eyes would scan the plains, looking out for any information that she could. It was difficult; the area was somewhat foggy. Mapping a route wouldn't be easy, plus this wasn't exactly her forte. She didn't consider herself the most observant person, she picked up things, but she didn't quite have the eye for details her father did. Fighting was much more her strong point, yet she wanted to lead a group into the fray. To ensure the safety and assistance for the groups that followed. They travelled for a while, Nessa took in the details she could, the air, the smells, the landscape. Anything she could she mentally logged it for reporting back to the other teams. She noticed after a while that everything was quiet, for a long time too, it was almost ...too quiet

    "Nessa Lux."

She sensed it the second before Tiphanae called her name "Guys, ready yourselves." She called out, stopping where she was. She looked around, trying to making out what direction the creature... no creatures were coming from. Nessa's eyes widened, just as she realised how many were approaching them. There was an assortment of them, the first things Nessa noticed were three giant crabs were approaching, there were hideous being. Which hard dark shells and menacing glowing red eyes. There was a clinking of armour as several undead knights made their way towards them, only with a horde of giant spiders. Nessa took a steadying breath. Okay, I know they look freaky, but remember you got this. You're a strong mage now, protect your team.

Nessa straightened, holding out her hands, she would summon her orbs, she would blast them at two of the giant Arachnids, decided to get rid of them first. To her surprise, an orb each was enough to disintegrate them completely. Oh... Maybe she was stronger than she realised. Either that or these things were just really weak, still she was sure if she had faced something like this when she first when out into the field, she wouldn't have stood a chance.

She heard a serious of snarls, and turned heading her way were several monstrosities, these armless dinosaur-like beasts that almost appeared to have their flesh stripped away to muscle and were horribly mutated. Nessa shifted her stance quickly, letting out three more blasts, hitting three of the beast in the face. Some of them darted away, making their way towards the others.

Post by Haraka Omaras 18th February 2019, 8:49 pm

    Black

    Haraka Omaras

The West Fiore Trading Company felt a bit like something important was left out by Aven. "Who's Aviel?" Where they a summon? A spirit? A member of the team he hadn't seen listed? It wasn't as if the mixed blood wasn't guilty of similar things, but he had a good reason for not mentioning any spirits. He couldn't use any of them on this mission, nor would it be likely for them to pop up at any point. Wind may be a bit of a mischievous fae of a holy wind spirit, but the genderless being would never do anything that might endanger the other spirits. Though, there was something else to be noticed, it seemed a bit like the innocent youths magic took a lot of set up? Or maybe he was trying to be extra cautious. "Good luck." There was no harm in cheering for someone, right? Besides, the ice blue skinned person had a soft spot for the innocent. It was such a precious thing so easily destroyed by the world. It only really takes one event for it to be gone forever. There is no way for such a thing to return. Events don't reverse, the actions viewed and sounds heard being etched within the history of ones very soul. Though part of the half demon knew that the mage was unlikely as pure as they seemed, so the young looking man was trying his best to look at them as a fellow adult minded person. Well, the clothes didn't really help. Their hair and nails looked trimmed and kept enough that the clothing looked a bit out of place. Maybe he was just a bit bias? It just seemed strange to keep your hair organized and nails trimmed and clean and yet wear such relaxed clothing.

Maybe the choice would be easier to understand with a more modern understanding of fashion. The medicine blooded person wasn't exactly up with the times, his typical clothes were just timeless enough for it to not look too unusual. Markus seemed to be more reactive when it came to the heart. The mans conclusion was pretty logical. The suggestion that Nessa or Aven hold it made perfect sense after he explained a certain detail about their magic. If only the idea of such a relationship with magic use was a new idea only recently heard of.
"You're right, it wouldn't work. As a doctor it feels more important for me to avoid damage, so I have nothing that would help me counteract that. It was either kind of you to think it over, or you've seen enough that it wouldn't really phase you seeing it. Either way, you were polite." This was spoken with the normal gentle, soft, and smooth voice. The one he used almost every day and everywhere. It was easy to assume it and the smile were all just things that came natural, he had thousands of years of practice. All things that came second nature at this point, originally designed to get dangerous people to think as little of him as possible. But of course if he was as soft as that voice and smile, his words towards Markus would have been different. Maybe there would have been pouting, or a surprise, concern, or confusion when the man had spoken of self harm. There were a lot of things that hinted that the man was someone who had already experienced any things in the world. He hadn't been expecting the spell Markus used, but it was certainly amazing.

Omaras would need to make a mental note of this spell.
"Thank you very much." Even if it was temporary, it was better than nothing. His only spells that effected others in a similar way were area of effect and single target. There had to be another way, but thoughts on that would have to wait another day. Now was not the day and this was far from being a remotely proper place. His white slit draconian pupils moved, looking towards their leader next. Her reaction towards the heart was more of what he had been expecting. Tiphanae's response wasn't too shocking with how she appeared, but for some reason an attractive confident person being so okay with holding it turned Harakas face a few flushed deep purple shades. This was harder to hide, the quickening of the beat, the sort of feelings that he barely had before a certain body part had been taken off and regenerated. There were far too many emotions the half dragon had next to know experience with. If only there was a way to get more experience with them, but one cannot reverse time to start things off with a the everything they had lacked access to at the beginning. Life didn't work that way, so he would just need to learn how to deal with it and move on. 'Go on! Answer both, answer both! Look at Nessa!' The Doctor tried to direct himself, commanding obedience over his own flesh and soul."I understand Nessa. If it makes you feel less queasy, this is my second heart. I came near deaths door every night from when I was eight and a half until I was nine. My wind spirit used the refined death of his blood to allow fate to decide if I lived or died.

The blood created this heart, life from death. It's magic was inactive until very recently, that's why I didn't use it during the no light night job. So.. it never looked like a normal heart, even if it does the same job when it's inside me." A new rhythm born when his on had stopped. It's motions allowed the other one to continue. When he was stronger, would it change was well? It's spells were ones it came with, rather than things born from deep focus, practice, and knowledge from pouring over books and learning from his spirits. Not being able to decide what spells it came with was a bit strange, but it made sense. It was what it was and no matter how much you wish it so, you can only command and shape your own hearts shape only so much. Now eyes and focus moved to answer the winged woman. "You and your sisters all sound wonderfully accomplished. I'm glad to be your ally." It was the best he could muster. It was stupid, but oh well. When their white dressed leader started to give ordered, the black haired person quietly obeyed. The long inky locks swayed with each step as the young looking man took position in the group. The area was foggy, but this wasn't an issue to Omaras. He quietly reached under his vest, taking out a notebook. They were here to observe and detail everything here, right? Nothing could be taken down without a writing utensil and paper. His long fingers were quick to start writing in the familiar ancient draconian language. It would probably be better to write in modern first, but it felt like the entire job was very time sensitive.

It was better to write in something that could be done cleaner and faster, that option was certainly the one that was of a not so recent language. It wasn't even modern in dragon standards. The thousands of years writing notes and working to create pictures as quickly and detailed as possible paid off. The others would all make good notes, perhaps even better than his own. That didn't stop words from pouring on to the notepad, nor small quick sketches of each plant spotted. The west Fiore Trading Company member wasn't good in all situations, but seeing in fog, identifying flora and fauna, noting if anything looks off and what? These were things the man had done far before joining a guild. A piece of the accumulated skills the young looking man had long ago deemed 'useless'. They were tiny things, one of multiple skills that ended up being required in life when dealing with making goods that eventually became sold to merchants, studying cooking, and studying medicine. Smithing had seemed like it would be more useful, or learning how to put an electrical system in buildings when you make them. There were so many bigger and grander skills that Haraka lacked, it was a little nice that the smile skills earned more use than to for himself. The silence was unnerving, as forests rarely go silent without a reason. Was it the pathogen? It wasn't his job to ponder that. Letting his mind wander too much would be a bad thing. The doctors fingers stopped their work before tucking away the paper and pencil back under his vest after Nessa had called the alert. Though the person didn't want to, he couldn't help but to frown.

A fight already? He was sure they had all been quiet after they started walking, right? Though possibly not as silent as the forest itself. Even if it wasn't a shocking development, that didn't make it any more pleasing. The mixed blood moved their lantern in to a more firmly held position before shifting their gender. It was only seconds after that the beating heart changed its shape into an eku that gave a shining dim light. This item looked made of an aquamarine blue stone, but with an ocean design carved into it. She wanted to be firm, but even in this form the woman felt pity as soon as the 'enemies' became visible.
    "..Tira wer lekil tir nomeno?"
    translation:
before she could stop herself, the deep silky voice had come out. It wasn't the one feathered with the gentle sweet quiet tone. The woman wasn't disturbed by the mutations as much as the reasons that were likely behind it. Her focus soon returned. There were too many coming to let herself loose focus on something that was far easier to as a woman. This was normally a good thing, but her movements towards the infected knights caused him to shift and fill with doubt. Would it really be okay to attack them? What if they could be saved? Then again, with how much damage the illness had already done, would a life like that be worth living? But it wasn't his job to play god, not now, not ever. Maybe there was a better way. He didn't want to kill them if they could still be saved! "Guided Passage." The words came out quietly, but the spell activated all the same The light of the eku briefly turned black before a darkness poured onto the ground.

It had a small layer of low hanging fog, the smell of the sea, and a light healing effect on allies. It would help allies focus, but what he hoped was that the dazed and light headed effect it had on enemies might slow them down. Perhaps it was his last try to find some amount of personhood left in them, but they continued to move on like nothing happened. It was disheartening.
"Their minds aren't effected at all." It was disheartening. On one hand, the spell felt a bit useless now. On the other? The regaining of a clear mind helped him decide to change back into a woman and fight. Feeling pity wouldn't stop them, so her eku hit the face of a crab like being that had gotten far too close for comfort. With another swing, it went down. It was easier to not feel so bad if it was a crustacean beast thing, so she rushed to the nearest one that wasn't taken out yet. It took two good hits to take it down, bu it was pretty slow[. Still, she would have done more if she hadn't started to waver.

The Blood of death kept me breathing. From that fluid birthed a new rhythm.

Markus cocked his head once more glancing about the group. It was strange for the chaos mage to think back to his life. Before Fairy Tail he would have never thought it would be possible to be in such a situation. Markus was not a good guy, he was not even that decent really. He had killed, and he had stolen, on multiple occasions. Though he never did it for self-indulgence, or gratifications, those sins could not be erased. Yet, he had found a home which had accepted the vagabond homeless mage despite the careless, aloof, and standoff nature he had come accustom to using.

Sense then he had found himself making friends, true friends, and even growing closer than he ever would have expected. With a quick glance to their group leader the chaos mage almost, not quite, but almost, found himself cracking a smile. He never would have thought the naïve, sweet, and pure woman he had met in the woods would have reached him so thoroughly, yet the chaos mage knew. Somehow. There was no one in the world he trusted more. Now, for her, and the guild he had come to call home he could himself in an unknown land, taking on an unknown enemy, and probably one of his most deadly threats, and this time… He was doing it for people other than himself.

Suddenly his musing was broken as he heard his name. Looking up his eyes met the beautiful form of Tiphanae, he could see that she was looking his direction, and his eye raised slightly a she spoke to him. His face would leave the blank expression he was using while he mused and adopt its traditional sly grin and alight eyes. “It is good to see you as well.” The chaos mage said with a nod. “As much as I can, though there is no fun in life if you only ever take precautions.” Markus said honestly. Much of how he lived his life involved some significant risk, and he had grown used to pain due to his lack of caution in most regards.

As the one who called himself Haraka responded to his recommendation he would nod. He expected as much, know that the other man had healing magic it was understandable he was not used to taking damage, and Markus instincts to protect the mage had proven correct. When the mage thanked him, he only nodded, the spell was powerful but simple. However, what mattered most was that the spell would help them. Markus knew should whatever ailment assault them; his spell should keep them protected for a while longer.

Markus watched Nessa and realized only then that he might have messed up. He watched as her eyes widened and gave him a that would made him laugh in other circumstances. He did not see what the issue was, he assumed the heart would not be like holding the real thing, and with her power he was surprised she did not understand his reasoning behind the decision. After all, if they could combine both of their strength it would push them to strengths he had only seen once before, when Johann had used the full might of his strength, combined with Aporias gift. Yet, he listened as she politely turned down the offer. In the end, he decided not to argue with her, he had other ways to boost her strength if it became necessary.

He found himself turning to the Valkyrie with a raised eyebrow as he listened to her speak. It was interesting, to hear her take on such matters, and he found himself curious in their methods. However, suddenly she winged woman was cut off by Nessa, who for perhaps obvious reasons wished to hear no more. Markus once more turned to the West Fiore Mage as he spoke. He quickly informed Nessa that he took no offence to her refusal and tried to let her understand a bit about his magic before voicing his thoughts to the Valkyrie. In the end, it turned out Haraka like himself was more curious than anything.

As Nessa turned to inform the group on her plans and prepare them for their mission Markus found himself leaning into the winged female. “I would love to hear more later, perhaps you could show me you and your sisters’ methods? I could see the ability providing to be a useful addition to my own skills.” Markus said simply and without emotion. In truth he was very much interested in knowing her past, and her history. He had thought in the past that he would like to know more about Nessa’s summons, and their abilities though he had yet to really have the chance. “I know a very simple way to break a neck, in case of quick response, should you be interested?” Markus said to the female, offering to replicate any knowledge should would bestow upon him. Though, with what he knew of their age and experience of the summons, he started to worry they would already know anything he was to teach them.

He then turned to Nessa and nodded as she informed him that he would be taking point. To be honest, the decision made perfect sense to him. After all, he was built, almost literally by chaos, for stealth, range, and firepower. With a quick nod he would close his eyes and feel his power coaless within his body. As his eyes opened, they would be flooded with chaotic energy as the power of Chaos flooded into his system. His sly smile would meet Nessas eyes, “Will do.”

Markus looked about him as the shadows would bend themselves into his body, and cover him entirely, with a quick nod he would take off to the front of the group and lead them as directed. His eyes would mostly be kept to the front, watching for anything that might pose danger. Yet, he wasted no time working through their mission. As he would pass a plan, or a track he would stop, and take time to pay attention to what he saw, collecting a mental picture of what he saw. It was obvious watching the environment that the entire land was affected by the plague and pathogen. Suddenly, his eyes turned upwards as he felt something enter his sensory range. Just as he opened his mouth to speak, he heard Nessa call out, he knew with their distance that meant that the group would be surrounded and need to deal with this quickly before they called too much attention.

“Call if you need aid.” The chaos mage said back to the group as he turned to his shadow. “Hela, let’s get this over with quickly!” Markus said to his companion who suddenly started to form from his shadow, the shape of a massive black wolf appearing at his feet. She gave a short growl before turning back to the group and running off, entering the middle of the environment looking back and forth.

Markus looked back and forth as he watched the creature’s approach. He cocked his head as six plague ridden creatures stepped towards him. He could tell they were once human, but the pathogen had removed all traces of the visages they once were. For all intents and purposes the creatures looked like zombies, the very skin starting to fall from their bodies. As they stepped forward Markus called darkness to his hand and formed it around his fingers.

Taking a deep breath, he waved his hand sending four bolts of pure black energy striking forward watching as one by one each of the beams of darkness collided with the creatures, forcing dark energy to coerce across their bodies sapping the life from the creatures causing them to collapse suddenly. Releasing his breath, he stepped forward, and glanced about. He could see in the distance more creatures, two of which looked like large mutated crabs. He quickly looked towards his companion and nodded as he saw a wave of dark energy explode from Hela’s form spreading out towards to of the bug like creatures slicing them at the knees and covering their body in a living darkness which suffocated their life.

Knowing Hela needed no help and known there were more creatures to deal with the chaos mage gathered his resolve and turned to whatever was next, his eyes landing on the group of crabs. Just as he was preparing to deal with the last of these creatures, he turned to his side to watch a large lizard like creature rushing him at a high speed.

Raising his arm Markus watched as the creature clamped its jaws around his forum, he felt as briefly the fangs pierced into his skin, suddenly however the chaos mages’ eyes turned dark, and menacing. “How.  Dare. You.” He said quietly as suddenly a surge of chaotic forced itself from his body. Suddenly a burst of darkness overcome the chaos mage, and his appearance would shift, his hair growing darker, and his height standing ever so slightly taller, as if he stood straighter, and more prominent. Two black raven wings had sprung from his back, spreading out like an angel of death.

His grin widened as the primordial essence within him responded to the unwanted touch. The chaos mage watched as the creature suddenly vanish being ripped into the chaotic realm his patron called home. Taking a break Markus watched as his blood started to smoke, and the wound on his arm close as his blood repaired the damage and cleaned his system of any trace of the pathogen.

His eyes glanced about, he knew he needed to reserve his strength, their job was far from over.

Post by Nessa Cordelia Lux 8th March 2019, 8:18 am

Nessa was relieved that Haraka didn't seem to be offended by her declining of holding his 'second heart', even if it may not resemble a normal heart. The idea to her just seemed a little too out of her comfort zone, she wasn't too bad with blood thanks to her experience learning from his father and his work in the medicinal industry, but still, organs and stuff. No, she wasn't prepared to deal with that. What if she...dropped it? She was known for being excessively clumsy at the worst of times; she just felt so paranoid that she might not be able to focus on fighting if she only got to use one hand as well as had to focus on keeping someone's heart safe. It wasn't ideal with her fighting style or capabilities. On top of which it just seemed like a lot of responsibility to deal with when she had so much to bear in mind, she was, after all, leading this mission and in a way responsible for the entire team and the success of the mission. Perhaps one of the others might benefit from holding the heart.

After Tiphanae's comment, she received a nice compliment from Haraka, followed by Markus's continuation of the matter. Tiphanae listened eagerly, nodding at him, "Oh yes, I do enjoy a nice clean neck break, saying that I've not quite perfected it the way Agatha has, she is especially good at it. Perhaps later we can compare techniques," Nessa let out a rather loud and obvious sigh, these two just couldn't help themselves. It was strange how it didn't bother her as much as it used it, talk like this. She knew about the Valkyries history or at least a fraction; the girls had fought in a millennium's worth of wars. Handling death was second nature to them, and then there was Markus who. Well, Nessa had learned enough about to understand why he was the way he was. She didn't like it, his acceptance of death and killing, but her opinion on the matter wasn't as black and white as it had been. She knew she would never be able to convince Markus that killing was unnecessary, no matter how much she tried, it wouldn't work. He had just experienced too much to have his mind swayed. Plus Nessa had grown to understand, that if she wanted to protect the people, the purify Fiore from evil, some could only be saved that way. At least, that was what she suspected might eventually happen, as a wizard saint, it was her duty to protect the people, and sometimes that resulted in death. Not that she had ever experience handling it herself. She had only ever killed monsters and beasts, although admittedly some of them had looked like people. Demons that bore human form, even knowing they were demons hadn't made it feel any less real. But still, she had to kill them in order to save herself and Rina. It was either end the lives of the demons they had faced or be trapped in that vortex of evil for the rest of their existence. Needless to say, she wasn't the weak little naïve girl that had walked into the doors of Fairy Tail all those months ago. She had grown immensely.

Following her instruction, the group seemed to move into the formation she had suggested. She was pleased to see this at least went down without a hitch. She only hoped that if Aviel was on his way, and that he would return to Aven's side before the fighting kicked off. The last thing she wanted was him to get caught by a group of monsters on the way before he could join the group. Not that he probably couldn't handle himself, but in these unknown lands, there was just no telling what was out there, and how many. It was definitely safer in numbers. For the first part, the group had been able to walk quite a ways, collection information and details to report back to the others. Nessa was pleased; hopefully, some of the information they had gathered would benefit the others. Prepare them for the tasks ahead, such as helping team two know where to head to collect samples and what to look for. Then there was team three, the final group, well they would only benefit if the team ran into any malicious creatures. Which of course, they did. Nessa made sure to remember each of the beasts as they approached.

"Guys, I know we need to kill them, but let's also use this as an opportunity to help out the others. Be sure to remember any weaknesses that we can report this to the other teams for when they head out later. After all, our job is still to gather information, and that includes these monsters." She called out, hoping they could at least hear her in the midst of all of the fighting. Nessa was pleasantly surprised by how well her magic seemed to work against the beasts so far; she knew she had grown in strength. After all, she could summon all of her Valkyries now, even Scythen, which was both exciting and terrifying at the same time, after seeing what Scythen could do in Valhalla. Nessa couldn't help but feel anxious; the Valkyrie could pretty much raise an army of dead souls to do her bidding. A sea of soldiers that could crash down on anyone she willed upon, Nessa was glad to have the Death Valkyrie on her team.

Everyone seemed to be handling the creatures well, and no one seemed to be struggling. Tiphanae soared down from the sky, flying towards one of the giant Arachnids she drove her sword through it's back. The creature reared, releasing a high-pitched screeched as it was taken by surprise. It shook it's body erratically in an attempt to throw her off, Tiphanae positioned her feet on the back of the creature. Carefully avoiding the spikes, she used the hilt of her sword to hold herself steady. Raising her free hand, she turned her palm to face the creature and released a burst of wind magic. The burst of magic blasted through the creature, smashing it into the ground. It crumpled dead, Tiphanae smirked, Nessa glanced over, grinning back. "It seems your magical growth is allowing me to use my full strength," She said to Nessa, Nessa bit her lip, she knew she had gotten stronger. Even she could acknowledge that, but to hear it from Tiphanae made her swell a little. She knew she had been restricting the Wind Valkyries capabilities for a while now. It was exactly to know that she was no longer holding her back. Tiphanae pulled out the sword; the edges were rigged, hissing from the acidic blood of the spider. Tiphanae tutted, "I can't fight with this, Nessa can you summon the Varja," Nessa was momentarily surprised but nodded. The symbol on the back of her neck would glow once more. She opened her palm. In her grasp a golden object would materialize. As usual, the Varja was cool to touch, she gripped the metal bar in the middle, harness its power. It was strange, before the magic she felt from it was so overwhelming, and yet now it felt so ...obedient. Like it would follow her command without hesitation, had she really come this far?

She held it out, focusing on Tiphanae's weapon, the earth would rise up from the soil. The grains of the earth would float up to the sword, reshaping it and hardening it. The molecular structure shifting and reforming, before returning it to the sword's original shape. No evidence of it having ever before melted with acid remaining. Tiphanae gave it a quick swing, "Excellent; I shall be mindful not to use this against those arachnid creatures, thank you, Nessa Lux." Tiphanae bowed her head, before turning away, she called over her shoulder. "I would recommend summoning one of my sisters soon, at present the amount in manageable. But I sense more enemies on incoming; it would be prudent to increase our numbers." Nessa nodded, watching as Tiphanae flew off once more to target the next monster. Who to summon though? She wondered, there were dealing with monsters of a biochemical nature, Lucinda might be a good call, but then if she really wanted to increase the likelihood of their success. It would make sense to summon one of the stronger girls, but then again, just who though? Nessa whole another snarl and spun on her heel. Two raptors were making a beeline for her, snapping their maws angrily, she raised the Varja. Summoning it's magic forth, the earth between them rose up, like a wall it shot upwards to a height of over twenty feet. Towering over the Raptors, it came crashing down on them. Infused with her own magic, they were completely buried under the mass, crushed from the force of the attack.

That was fair close; it was good that she had the Varja with her at the time. She reached around to her belt, next to her satchel, she quickly attached it. She wasn't ready to send it back just yet, she knew with how unpredictable this fight was. She may well need it again. At least by tying it to her hip, she could reach for it whenever she needed a quick burst of magic. It was time to make a decision, who to summon. She sighed; it really did make sense to summon her. Even if she were Nessa's volatile Valkyrie, her eyes would glow, and she would speak, once more sounding as though several women were talking at once. "Agatha..." The moment her name was called, the clouds began to stir above, there was a distance rumbling like the sound of a storm could be heard. There was a sudden crackle of lightning bursting from the sky, followed by the roar of thunder. It struck one of the skeleton knights and appearing there, was Agatha standing on top of the toppled knight, a satisfied look on her face. Agatha was even taller than Tiphanae and built a little studier. She was still quite beautiful, but she didn't carry the delicate elegance that Tiphanae did. But more of an Amazonian woman, but her features were hard; her electric blue eyes were sharp. She had wavy brown hair that billowed behind her as she turned her gaze to take in the situation. She was dressed in a full set of hair, shield in one hand and longsword in the other. "Finally, I was getting bored of waiting." She said as she stepped out of the ashes of the knight who had been obliterated by the lightning bolt. "Just in time too..." She said staring over to her left. Nessa followed her gaze; she was right. More of them were approaching.

Nessa recognised more giant spiders scuttling towards the group. There was also different monsters too. What appeared to be three mutated beasts, Nessa couldn't even affiliate them to an animal. They just looked like beasts, with pale, pinkish skin that was covered in boils. Two legs, and four arms, not to mention their giant maws sporting rows of teeth. There was also what looked like giant trees, except that they had legs and arms, sitting on the back of these tree-like monsters wore a giant boulder on their backs. Nessa checked in on the others to see how they were doing, hopefully, they had noticed this oncoming horde of monsters. It was clear that their battle was far from over, just how man more monsters would they have to face? It was strange to think that such dangerous and volatile creatures existed here. Had they always been here, or where they just biomatter that had been affected by the pathogen to create these terrifying beasts.

    Haraka Omaras

Harakas gender shifted, feelings of guilt bubbling up for how cold the emotions his other side was. How could there be such a total lack of regret? But whispers from ghosts helped ease in some way, the assurance that they had been in a painful state that the group had released them from. But the pale ice blue skinned person wished it was reversible. Maybe it will be one day, but certainly not this very minute. Why couldn't his female side feel any sort of regret or remorse over what they kill? Then again, that's why he didn't use it in the cave, right? On that one job, when the demonic energy coating every inch of the place threatened to rip away his sense of self if they dared to shift again. Thoughts were cut off by Nessas words. "Is there a way we can avoid killing them? They're victims, even if they're so deeply gone..." Even when saying that, part of him knew that was a non possibility. It was a feeling that sunk like a stone falling within the great depths. The stone was the guilt of not knowing how to treat them. Maybe there will be a way after all the teams and missions have finished? Though part of him knew it was unlikely that ones this far gone could be saved, even if they could treat the rest. But it also seemed as if more beasts came not long after the first wave was taken down by the group. The mixed blood should have helped more instead of letting guilt hold his hands back. Feeling bad for them obviously doesn't stop their attacks, nor did guided passage phase their mentality. That should have been a hint that they couldn't be saved. That and their physical mutations make it clear that they are far further than those that had entered the winter themed masquerade ball.

This was why the man swallowed the guild before rushing forward, letting the darkness within his shimmering second heart guide the eku. This lead Omaras feet to lead him towards some plant like beasts. No point in holding back, right? No matter how much he wished so, it would do no good for anyone to continue to drag feet along. Mirroring this sentiment, large deep sapphire blue dragon wings appeared. They did not burst from his back, instead seeming to act as if they had always been there. This was a good hint that such a physical piece of their person hidden away by magic, not made. This was true too for the fairly long mantis shrimp tail. Both pieces of body had segmented armor, like a mix of a crustaceans carapace and a dragons scales. In a battle of speed, the beast was barely slower than the mixed blood that dodged the charge it sent in the mans direction. The dodge wasn't easy, but the ekus momentum from it's attack against the beast made it easier. The only thing that caused a pause was what the plant being did next. It was like it summoned some of the grass and herbs from next to its wood like legs, healing most of the damage done. Standing still wont make it stop, but he didn't move fast enough. The doctor ended up having to dodge another charge before landing a second hit on the beast.
"Not fast enough.." He muttered quietly to his person before giving space back to their female side, which promptly whacked the wooden beast until it fell apart. One side was better at planning and thinking, but the other side was without a doubt far superior at unbridled violence.

Even how she dashed for the next flatland hunter was more aggressive, using their tail to help propel her forward faster. One moment she was bashing the legs repeatedly without a hint of waver, the next she moved on to the next beast. The next creature she spotted was strongly attacking one of the plant beasts. She didn't overthink it, deciding to attack it while it was distracted by trying to make the nearest life its meal. She landed it after hit on it, but it ignored her. Even after it fell to its death and the spider like plant creature became freed, it never thought of anything besides food. It likely would have been quite a lot harder to beat if its eyes had been focused on eating her instead, it had taken a few hits before it had gone down. Still, that wasn't on her mind. The attack that hit her side right after the killing blow was definitely the thing on her mind. Of course there would be no thanks from those who had already become lost, she hadn't expected that at all. There was a bit of an annoyance about it attacking while she was distracted, but it was brief and fleeing. Those feelings were released in a series of blows from her weapon. She let her body go with the natural flow of her violent wishes, taking it down. That didn't make the previous attack hurt less, but Haraka at least felt a little relieved. with it down.

The Blood of death kept me breathing. From that fluid birthed a new rhythm.

Markus glanced casually about his surrounding, taking in the enemies he had just beaten and enjoying the moment of freedom from battle. These monsters were strange, dangerous, and eclectic. The chaos mage, a progeny to the Primordial Chaos itself, couldn’t make any rhyme or reason to the state of affairs, nor the types of creatures they had seen up till now. It was as if anarchyial magic was at work, and this pathogen was twisting everything in its path. Markus could make no sense of the chaos.

Glancing at his wound that had healed Markus felt the purative effects of his magic surge forth, removing any trace of contaminates. It was strange for the chaos mage, to watch wounds which once would be a part of his identity. ‘You are getting stronger, Progeny. You should be proud.’ Markus heard quietly in his mind, at first confused. In truth, he had grown accustom to the voice, however the tone at which it spoke, and the complement it gave were foreign to the mage. Before he could come up with a response, or hear the voice speak again another speaker broke his musing.

Markus turned towards Nessa as she called out, reminding the group that their number one task was to gather information. Not giving a reply the chaos mage looked down towards the demolished monsters. The truth was, the first group had attacked so fast, Markus hadn’t paid attention to any possible weaknesses, in fact as far as he knew they went down under his attacks rather easily, but not unexpectedly. Taking a deep breath, the chaos mage made sure to pay more attention, as he leaned down to check a piece of the remains, he heard Haraka speak out.

The mage decided in the end to remain silent. Taking a deep breath, he looked towards the other mage. Markus understood it now more than he ever did in the past, even if he still did not agree with the mindset. To some the unwillingness to kill, to take a life, to end somethings existence, was a virtue, a power, a strength. Markus understood now, why some people found such actions difficult, or even impossible, now that he could feel, he knew the sentiments some held with life. He however had no qualms with his role in this. He knew the truth, and had come to accept it. He was a killer, and destruction is what he excelled at, not that it was what he sought out.

Markus turned towards his allies, watching as they handled their prospective enemies. He could see Aven setting his circles, and activating them with perfect timing, and astute awareness, there were no signs of the same man that had lost in the arena. Markus was glad he seemed to be in control, yet he still could not shake his thoughts that something was up with the man. Aven looked different, his bearing was that of a man who started to know darkness, and his clothes had obviously changed, so much so that Markus knew it was a choice.

His eyes then turned to the rest of the party, and he watched as they fought with a vigor, and strength. He could see the winged Valkyries striking forward, and Nessa summoning her weapon, and even calling another of her sisters to battle. The lightning strike was familiar to Markus, even though the last time it had happened the chaos mage was a distance away, Markus watched as Agatha stepped forward looking towards a new approaching horde.

Markus held out his hand, and focused his mind. Suddenly, all at once there was a surge of darkness, and a chill which extended from the dark mage. Where his fingers touched the air, a small hole started to form, a shifting magnetized void in the fabric of reality. Slowly, with precision Markus pulled his hand downward as the hole become a tear ripping from Earthland and connecting with the void. One looking within the depths would see shifting lights, and endless void. Colors and shapes unknown to the mind, and creatures which would boggle the mind would seem to condense around the hole.

However, anyone watching would see what actual come through resembled a black book made of ancient leather. This book almost seems to shift and move in shadows, as if not actually being part of reality, and from its pages a glow emits with an ethereal light. The leather is worn and aged with an unknown amount of time. As the book opened of its own accord a strange, and almost unreadable text would be seen written in a strange red ink. Markus looked down at the item and spoke, his voice overlaid with an ancient creature.

“Libro de chaos, Et vocavi te in hoc mundo. Viribus. Celeritas. Spatium.” As the words rang out, the language would seem to vibrate in the air. Those Markus considered friends would feel a strange power overcome them, as the book bolstered their magic, providing a boon from the Primordial known as Chaos. Suddenly, the hole closed, yet the book remained, shifting, vibrating, fading in and out of the material and the ethereal. Markus eyes opened, a purple light shining within their depths, his mind vibrated with a chaotic energy. The chaos mage turned his eyes towards one of the remaining creatures, and pointed his finger. The books page flipped on its own and darkness formed above the pages forming an orb of chaotic energy which surged forward, hitting an enemy in the distance. As the orb strikes its form, it exploded in an area sending magical chaos in every direction. Markus turned his eyes away from the dead creatures. He could feel her wrath shifting in his head, her anger focusing his mind. If someone were to watch him, they would see he seemed to be standing taller, his eyes looked fiercer, and his hair had changed color, the red was now streaked with black.

Surging forward the Markus flexed his wings and took to the air before striking down from the sky, bringing his knee into the face of one of the remaining Pathogen Knights. Dark energy surged from his strike, causing a burst of chaotic energy which strikes into the knight, causing both to fall under the power of Markus’ magic. As the chaos mage stood, he turned his head to the approaching enemies, the ongoing battle was causing him to pull more and more magic from the void. More and more power from Aporia, and more and more strength of will. Markus knew if the battle prolonged that her seal would also worn, and the chance of her taking things into his own hands would be more likely.

Taking a deep breath, the chaos mage decided to give the group a moment of reprieve. They had a job to do, and the monsters were making that impossible. They needed a moment to regroup, and refocus. Taking a deep breath, Markus opened both his hands and formed a spinning vortex of darkness above him. As it spun faster and faster Markus turned slowly turned his gaze, spinning in a slow circle looking at the oncoming monsters, planning his attack. With a deep breath Markus released the magic, suddenly surging from the rotating vortex multiple orbs of chaotic and magical nature shot into the air, dozens of these bombs launched forward. As they fell around the group, each and every orb that landed would explode in a carpet bombing of chaotic magic, a series of explosions rang out. The carpet of destruction landed among the various groups of enemies Markus turned towards the group.

“Perhaps that will give us a moment of reprieve, I am going to search the area and see what I can find.” Markus’ voice was calm, but laced with danger and chaotic magic. The longer the chaos mage fought, the more Aporia could take over, and the more chaotic magic worked through his mind. Those who knew him could notice the signs of his magic, and the whisper of chaos. As Markus walked forward, he started looking about the dead, taking notes and gathering information. Suddenly the chaos mage took to the air, feeling the massive wings keep him aloft. Markus allowed darkness to develop around him, hiding his form, keeping him hidden from any creatures that might see him.

From his vantage point in the air, Markus looked around the group, and took in the sights. He could see the landscape as it changed, and made sure to mark down the noticeable features he saw. Markus could see what looked like mountainous ranges, and trees. He could see a river, and more. With a deep breath Markus marked what he saw, and spoke down to the group, giving Nessa all the information he could gather, to better inform how the group should move.

[Team 1] Plains of Disease (Aven, Markus & Haraka) Empty Re: [Team 1] Plains of Disease (Aven, Markus & Haraka)

Post by Nessa Cordelia Lux 27th March 2019, 2:39 pm

Nessa glanced over as Haraka spoke, her eyes would soften at his words. She understood what he was getting at; it was true that at some points bodies had likely been human. They would have had lives, and families at some point. It was such a grey area for sure. How did one determine the point such creatures were still human? Where did the line of mercy end?  But as she eyed the remains of the zombie-like beast, she sighed, no it really wasn't an option here. Not when lives were at stake, she turned to Haraka with a solemn gaze. "I'm sorry Haraka, but we really don't have any other choice. They aren't living anymore, nor are they human. Any semblance of their humanity has been overridden by this infection. Also, can you imagine what it must be like, to lose your minds and bodies so completely that you know nothing but to eat and kill? Honestly, if it were me, I'd want someone to kill me before I hurt someone." She answered, hoping this might be enough to convince, "Please understand, as mages of the alliance, we are here to protect the people of Tolgalen from the dangers that are manifesting here." There was a time when Nessa might have followed the same train of thought as Haraka did now. She remembered the time she took down all the imps with Sebastian. How bad she had felt after realising the massacre of dead creatures she left in her wake. But, since then she had grown to understand that the world was not so black and white. The lines between decided the fate of a monster were blurred because as humans they needed to do what they could to survive. Additional, she as someone of her status had promised that she would do everything she could to safeguard the people of Earthland from the dangers that threatened them.

The fight rage on for a bit, eventually resulting in Nessa's summoning of Agatha. When the new horde of creatures had arrived, the group made quick work of them. Haraka taking out quite a few of the creatures, Nessa didn't notice the wings appearing on his back, she just glanced over, and suddenly they were there, as well as a dragon-scaled tail. Markus too had undergone an image change, with his red hair now streaked with black. In a parade of dark orbs formulated from Markus's magic, the remainder of the monsters were destroyed in an instant. Nessa sighed with relief, a moment of reprieve it was. It was really difficult for them to gather information this way, especially when they barely had a chance to move into the area. Tiphanae let out a low whistle, "These humans are impressive,"  She commented. Agatha crossed her arms and huffed.

"Either that or these monsters are just stupendously weak,"  She raised her sword pointing it as Nessa as though she was pointing her finger, "What's the point in summoning me if pretty boy over there is gonna steal all the kills!"  She barked accusingly, Nessa took a breath, before she could reply Tiphanae stepped in. "Ahh, perhaps someone's a little bitter they didn't get to show off for the humans."  Agatha turned her body suddenly, spinning a full three-hundred and sixty degrees, she used the momentum to launch her sword at Tiphanae. Tiphanae laughed delicately, hopping away airily as the sword narrowly missed her heading straight towards Nessa. Whom, while squealing, threw herself back in order to avoid being impaled. The force of her attempt to dodge the attack causing her to fall over. She winced as she landed quite firmly on her rear. Taking a moment to gather herself before looking up at the girls, "Can you two cut it out, we need to focus on the mission!" She snapped irritably, blushing slightly from the embarrassment having fallen over in front of everyone.

She climbed to her feet, brushing herself off, Markus mentioned going to scanned the area, she watched as he lifted up into the sky. He was fortunately still in good range, not enough to worry her in case another attack hit. He returned moments later, giving them a break down of the surrounding area. Nessa listened carefully, thinking it over, she made her decision on where they would move to next.

"Okay is everyo-" She was about to ask if everyone was ready to move forward when suddenly a beam of light burst down from the sky. She covered her eyes stepping back slightly, even for her the light was intense. Then as the light settled around Aven, her eyes widened in panic. Without a second thought, she began to run towards him, "AVEN!"  She shouted, activating the starlight in her feet. She shot forward in an attempt to reach him, but just as she reached the light. He was lifted away, shooting upwards out of sight. She screamed out in frustration, ready to kick off the ground into the air. But then, in the blink of and eye, the light disappeared and Aven along with it. She stared after where he had vanished, "NO!"  She cried, feeling herself hit with emotion as the realisation of what just happened settled in. One of her closest friends had just been...taken. But by what? Someone had just manifested out of nowhere and snatched him out of nowhere. She could feel her mind whirring, what was she supposed to do? She had to go after him, what if whatever had taken him was malicious? She couldn't just leave him. Tiphanae appeared next to her swiftly, landing in front of her she grabbed Nessa's forearms, squeezing them. "Nessa Lux calm down, please it isn't what you think." Nessa's looked at the Wind Valkyrie,  her eyes on the verge of brimming with tears.

"She's right brat, pretty sure that light was friendly. If you ask me, it had an 'Aviel' kinda feel to it,"  Agatha added, before snorting with laughter, "Should have seen your face though, I'm gonna have to treat the seraph to a drink for that one,"  She said as she continued to chuckle. Nessa gulped, calming down slowly, "Aviel?"  She said in a questioning tone. Of course, he wasn't here yet. Aven had said he would be joining them, had something come up, and he'd decided to call Aven away. She sighed,  Tiphanae let go of her arms. "You ok Nessa Lux?"  She asked softly, Nessa gave her a small smile and nodded, wiping her eyes of any tears that threatened to loom. She turned to the others, "Guess Aven had to drop out for some reason, I'll see if I can check in on him later. In the meantime... I suppose we should continue with our mission."  She said, trying to regain some of her professionalism from before. Although it was exactly easy, that whole ordeal had shaken her for a moment. That underlying fear of hers had kicked in, fear of losing someone. The moment he had vanished, it had overwhelmed her, it was fortunate her Valkyries had been there to reassure her even if Agatha had gotten amusement out of her momentary devastation.

"I guess without Aven, we'll have to rethink the formation."  She said, pausing to think, "Markus let's swap. I'll head the front; you cover the rear. Haraka can you stay where you were in the formation, and Agatha, if you take Aven's spot in the formation. Tiphanae you can continue as you were before, flying above the centre of the group. "  She instructed, before making her way to the group. Once everyone was ready, they would head on forward. Nessa would lead the group north-east. She would use her being at the front of the group as a means of distracting herself from what had just happened. The truth was she was still really worried about him, but she had to stay focused for Haraka and Markus. She didn't want to let them down.

As the travelled a little further, Nessa frowned, "Is it just me or... does the air feel a little more...misty?"  She asked the others. She glanced around; it was a little more difficult to see the area surrounding them, as the fog seemed to grow thicker, the further they walked. Nessa heard the splash of water under her footing and stopped, glancing down, A puddle...? She thought, did that mean they were coming close to the river Markus had seen? She continued to walk over, stepping over the puddle. As they moved in, Nessa would walk a little slowly, something instinctive telling her not to rush as she proceeded. In the distance she noticed something out of place, she narrowed her eyes trying to get a better look. "Tiphanae can you move ahead and check that out..."  Tiphanae obediently flew forward through the fog, staying within sight of the group. She would explore the area " There are ruins here, very old... perhaps some old fortress. Nessa Lux... I think the area surrounding is some sort of marshland."  As Nessa continued on, the mist would ease off slightly, revealing the area before them. She could see the broken foundation coming up. It was the remains of a magnificent castle of some sort. "Right, we'll investigate those ruins next, there might be something in there that could be useful."  She instructed to the others, as they continued their careful approach through the swamp.

    Black

    Haraka Omaras

It was strange having no wounds after a painful attack, but not really that surprising. A lot of spells has been used during this chaotic fighting. Her attentions went upwards towards the direction the sensation of vibrations had come from. The woman's gaze was only able to go there after the earlier mess with the messy fighting, missing some of the magical splendor that had already occurred. What she did see was the different look he was sporting. The half ice dragon wasn't expecting to spot purple glowing eyes and wings, among other details. Certainly, the doctor expected to see a lot of strange things this day. She had fully expected to spot many unknown or odd things. What hadn't been expected by her was to spot a giant vortex of darkness to come from Markus. But that was a fine bit of destruction, for any remaining enemies from before were pretty much gone by this point. Had the mans wings been there before now and she just hadn't noticed it? It was hard to remember with how little time had been spent so far looking the other group members over. Add that with Nessa being the only person of the group she had met before? Though she was still pretty sure he didn't start off this journey with wings out, but that's that's alright. It wasn't the first time spotting someone pulling a terrifyingly powerful spell, but that didn't make it any less amazing. Just like that, all the fighting was over. Eyes looked from the younger man and back around the ground level. She just needed to look around a bit, even if all common sense reasoned that all nearby threats were gone. Nerves and muscles only begun to ease once sight and smell confirmed that there was currently no threats wanting their lives left alive in view.

They were safe for now and could continue with their job. Now they could communicate and take notes, something that was a lot harder to do when you're fighting. How would Haraka answer the pale haired woman? Well, there was no more enemies. Her nerves mellowed, the gentle male side shifting back. The young looking man reached into his vest, pulling the notebook and writing utensil from before back out. It was easier to take things in now, though a huge mess had happened. Then again the west fiore trading company hadn't exactly been the guild of mellow. Something new? Yes, but so was the vps becoming a child state for awhile, so was Cirven in when he was in the guild, so was a lot of things. He looked the air, eyes briefly on Markus. Was this a good or bad sign? He would need to actually get to know them before ever asking or knowing, otherwise it would be rude and presumptuous. Within a few minutes, eyes were back to looking at things on the ground level. Hands flipped back open the notebook, fingers gently moving the papers until reaching the page the man left off at.
"Sorry, I've known they were too far gone since using guided passage. How I spoke to you about the victims was me expressing frustration." It was all very frustrating. He wanted to be able to save them, but they were either too far gone, or nobody knew yet how to save them outside of deliverance through death. Even if death would release them, it didn't change that those victims had lost whatever possibilities they had in life before. Hopefully they could avoid more fighting from here on out, though they were already warned of how deadly this place was before the mission even started.

The group must have only gotten a small taste of the dangers that lay within this place. At least Markus was helping them avoid possible infection. The idea of becoming like those who had wondered into the masquerade, or even worse, like those they had just killed? It was terrifying. Now that everything seemed less murdery for now, it was probably a good time to start taking notes on everything involved within the battles that happened moments ago. Now, how does one write while holding an eku, a pencil, and a notepad? Maybe put the eku back in his chest? But then the spell would stop, what if an enemy shows up? A gentle hand reached over, taking the eku. It was a surprise, even after seeing it was fire. She wasn't someone he had expected to pop out. Still, she wouldn't be here if it would place the plant spirits in danger. Her physical presence was a little comforting, even if the woman couldn't and wouldn't ever be capable of fighting. Maybe if she tried to use her fires? But the light brown skinned spirit was passionate about her beliefs. The smile to her remained as he used now freed fingers to move the notepad to where he had left off at. This search didn't quite finish, the smile wavering and digits paused as eyes aimed to the sky. Why did he vanish off into a beam of light into the sky? The young looking man really wished he knew the answer. Their expression was more baffled than anything else. It wasn't realized that something might be wrong until hearing their leaders panic. Deep sapphire blue eyes looked back towards nessa, mind feeling more confused by the moment. Listening onto her conversation with her summons didn't help as much as the West Fiore Trading Company member had hoped.

Aviel? He heard the name, but had no idea who that was. The person had been brought up earlier, but a meeting of this unknown person had never happened. He wanted to ask who that was or what was going on, but had a sinking feeling that the groups current leader didn't know everything either. There's no reason to fear if you're well informed after all.
"...Would it be rude to request being informed what happened after the mission when you find out? Because that was very confusing..." It wouldn't hurt to ask, right? Aven wasn't from his own guild, but how often do you really see people get carried away into a light? Unless you live a life full of odd occurrences, it shouldn't be that often. Should he be surprised that angelic looking ladies weren't the least phased by the sky napping? What was one persons every day reality wasn't another persons. Those who dwell in the skies might be more used to sky related things? Or maybe it was an age thing. The Valkyries were Nessas summons. Actually now that there was no fighting, the doctor could now see the second feathered woman's personality a bit better. Omaras definitely preferred Tiphanae, but saying that out loud would be rude and possibly cause trouble. The pale ice blue skinned person moved at the mention of a formation. While still in it technically, the half dragons current location he considered sloppy. At least whatever chaos had been going on seemed over for the most part. More pages were moved until he was able to start writing again. Omaras couldn't get himself to move fast enough, words quickly filling the page. The half demon started walking once their group started going on the move.

For now, the pale ice blue skinned person was too focused on taking notes to think of anything like their wings and tail still being out. The large wings were as loosely folded as they were temporarily forgotten about, the tail not even bothering to curl itself up yet. Haraka was doing their best to write about the fighting, draw out quick sketches of the variations of the infected they had run into, and still remember to take notes on their surroundings. That was easy enough, though it was becoming increasingly difficult to not get distracted by the ever nearing large body of water. The fortress looked pretty impressive, but still surrounded by a body of water. The will held up, up until a fortress was mentioned. White slit irises started scanning he waters, sight unfettered by the semi fog like mist. It looked like it was once somewhere pretty impressive. It might be nice to go through there.
"It could have also served as a hub for something else. That was common in older times, people used to flock towards the safety fortresses could provide." Of course it felt less safe when it was broken into, but that would be an unneeded comment.

The Blood of death kept me breathing. From that fluid birthed a new rhythm.

Taking a deep breath the chaos mage felt his wings flex behind him as he turned towards his companions and listened to their conversation. Nessa was in the process of speaking to Haraka, informing the other mage that there was no more life within the creatures they now fought, no more humanity, no more existence. Markus listened, his head cocked to one side, as she said she herself would rather die than be subjected to such torture, and as mages stated that it was their job to protect the people of Tolgalen from any threat. Markus paused for a moment in idle thought, his mind wondering back to the night he killed those slavers. Markus felt the same way now as he did then, killing these monsters, and killing those men, were the exact same thing. To him, a soul was a soul, sentience or not, the ability to speak or not, both were a danger to people. If anything, Markus actually though the slavers were the worse monster. However, he decided to keep that particular though to himself, and turned to the other mage as he spoke.

His voice was full of frustration, and his comments confirmed as much. In truth, the other mage was smart enough, and powerful enough, to know what must be done. However, Markus assumed as a healer thought such as this always passed through his mind, though Markus did not always agree to the idea of ‘redemption’, he certainly understood. Giving the man a small nod Markus would continue on his way, there was work to be done.

From the air, Markus could make out the conversations from below. He had dealt with the current onslaught of monsters, but knew it would not be the last, and unfortunately such displays of power weakened and tired the mage. Looking over, Markus could see the Libre de Caos was glowing slight, having siphoned some of his magic for itself. If needed, the chaos mage knew he could resort to its reserve, however as always Markus knew the book had its price.

Markus listened as one of the Valkyries spoke, he remembered her name to be Tiphanae, she seemed to be having some sort of idle conversation with her sister. Markus turned towards the group, his curiosity getting the better of him. At the ‘pretty boy’ comment the chaos mage raised an eyebrow, his sly smile smirked slightly. Were it not for his seal, and his connection to Chaos, he might have remained silent. However, his mind was already getting addled by the book’s influences, and his reasons were not always… logical. “Aw, don’t worry. There will be plenty of time to impress the pretty boy.” Markus said loud enough for the group to hear, his voice laced with that of another, Aporia even while dormant was influencing his actions.

His comment was just in time, he watched as Nessa fell back, a rather cute squeal escaping from her lips. She seemed to be taking control, snapping irritably at her summons. This time, Markus had enough sense to remain silent. Having gotten all the details he could from the air, he landed among the group, waiting for Nessa to inform them of their next steps. Markus listened intently as they she started, however like her he turned suddenly, a bright light blasting forth obscuring his form, and blinding his sight. All at once there was chaos, the beam calming down enough for Markus to see what was going on. Aven, eyes wide, Nessa running forward, a screamed name upon her lips. Her speed was immediate, and awe inspiring, the full power of her status was behind her assault. Yet even then. It was not enough. As suddenly as it had appeared, the light vanished, rocketing upwards with Aven in toe before disappearing entirely. Markus, standing still having not moved watched with a raised eyebrow. He could not understand, or make sense of what had just happened, the power was so sudden, so absolute. Markus couldn’t help but wonder at the finality of it all. His mind was already running, stepping through possibilities, analizing outcomes. Just as he was coming to his conclusion, listening to Nessa’s outburst and frustration he heard a familiar voice, one which seemed to draw the same conclusion as himself.

Markus had seen Aviel in action before, not long ago when the two were pulled into the world of hell. Although Markus had learned many things of the being, one thing was for certain, he had absolute power of light, and this particular light had not seemed threatening. Markus turned to Agatha as she spoke, the Valkyries attempting to calm Nessa. When she finally spoke, her voice and mind once more her own she seemed resolute. Shaken, but resolute, deciding to check on him, after the mission was complete. Once more, Markus found himself growling slightly, his mind wondering. This was the second time being in a guild, having ‘expectations’ has stopped the chaos mage from completing a task he felt needed to be done. First there was Mythal, who had suddenly vanished with nothing but a note, and now Aven. Markus decided then and there, once this Tolgalen business was completed, he was going after them, responsibilities be damned.

Being pulled from his mind once more Markus turned towards Haraka as they spoke. First apologizing for being rude, and second asking about what had happened. Markus in the end nodded, agreeing with the other mage. “I too would like to know what was so important that Aviel had to make such a decision. Loosing Aven is not game changing, but it will severely limit us.” Markus said truthfully. He had no doubt, without Aven the group could continue, and would complete their mission. However, it was true that his circles, and planning would have made things easier.

The chaos mage did not question Nessa when she asked to swap places with him. In truth, he felt much more comfortable at the front, being able to take the brunt of the assaults, and providing absolute support, however he had a feeling there was another motive to her decision, and in the end he nodded raising his hand. “If you are going to move to be our spearpoint, then take this. To keep you safe.” Markus said quietly, not fully meeting her eyes. Suddenly, he felt a drop-in power, and speed. Not a lot, but enough to make a difference. His Nephilim blood coerced through is body as a black mist escaped from his fingers. He had planned to do this on whoever held Harakas heart, but with Nessa now in the position of most danger, he felt it was appropriate. As the magic would reach Nessa she would feel a sudden boost in her magical power, and her physical speed. Markus’ own essence embracing her, gifting her already sizable strength with just a little bit more of his own.

The chaos mage would then turn away, looking no one in the eyes as he got to his position in the back of the group. He would be in the air, his wings keeping him just off the ground. If he was going to be in the back, he was going to be certain to be as mobile as possible, and that would not be from the ground. He made certain to stay below Tiphanae, making sure her height gave the best advantage, but with his own providing an unfettered view of everyone in the party. From the air, even if they should move through uneven terrain, he would see Nessa, and be able to respond in the most appropriate and timely manner.

As they traveled Markus would note everything he saw, from the warped trees to the terrain as it changed. He had a pretty good memory, and was able to plot the paths they were taking, and compose a map of the area as they went. He knew they were moving across the terrain he had seen early, and noticed as they went farther the area started to obfuscate, a small fog growing thicker as they traveled. It was strange for the Slayer, despite traveling through such an environment he heard no animals, no birds, and saw no insects. It was as if the air itself was choking the life from all but those corrupted. Not for the first time, Markus was glad for the purification properties of the Nephilim’s magic. Everything about this place felt wrong, dark, corrupt. Markus’ ear tweaked when he heard something, a splash, water. Lookin gup, he watched as Nessa moved slowly, now stepping over a puddle. Looking to his left and right he would gage is Haraka and Agatha were in similar positions. Hela was centered under Tiphanae, unlike him she was ground locked, but traveling through the darkness of the environment, a hidden shadow waiting to be called.

Markus watched as Tiphanae took off, scouting the surrounding area, and as the fog lifted slightly when she returned he would see a large cathedral like ruin rise from the depths of the darkness. Markus would narrow his eyes upon the ruins, and cock his head. He heard Nessa speak, but remained silent, not even speaking as Haraka voiced his concern and opinions. The ruins were evil, and twisted, Markus did not trust the area at all, but knew, if anything were to inform them of what was going on in this land, it would be such a settlement.

Post by Nessa Cordelia Lux 10th April 2019, 3:59 pm

Nessa was relieved as Haraka came to terms with having to kill the undead monsters. It wasn't a pleasant job, but someone had to do it. Nessa meant every word she had said to them, as much as she didn't want to die. If something like this were to happen to her, causing her to lose her mind so thoroughly that she would aimlessly attack and kill innocent people. Well, her soul would cry out with sadness. Although she was willing to accept a little bit of 'grey' area when it came to taking lives in order to protect the innocent from evil. She answered them with a simple nod, before moving on with the fight at hand.

After the fight had settled and the Valkyries had begun their little too and fro. Markus commented after the Valkyries, Nessa recognised the layering in his voice, it was Aporia talking. She smiled softly, she had come to terms recently with Aporia's existence within Markus. After having travelled to 'that place' with him, she had spoken to her when Markus left the room. Nessa no longer felt the same sense concern to hear the woman's presence. She simply understood, for some reason, Markus and Aporia were linked, and it was not Nessa's place to question that. Agatha shot him a dark look but said nothing, acting as though responding to the human wasn't worth her time. The brown-haired woman made no effort to hide her disdain for humans, she certainly had claimed herself the title of Nessa most 'difficult' Valkyrie to work with. She hadn't even been able to get along with Johann or Arcadia when she met him. In fact, as Nessa recalled Mars had been pretty set on killing the lightning Valkyrie. Although that had more to do with the woman attacking her summoner immediately after being called. Settling the score as she had found herself bested by the young Starlight Maiden not long before.

Following Aven's disappearance, Nessa was slowly managing to compose herself, with the help of her Valkyries. Haraka asked her if she could keep him informed of the result, followed by Markus who wanted to know Aviel's reasoning. "I will let you both know as soon as I manage to get in touch with him." She told them honestly. She really wanted to find out soon. She understood the need for urgency at times, but a little warning would have been nice. It had been quite the stressful ordeal, not exactly the best time either as Markus had stated. Aven was a strong fighter, and Nessa knew the way the monsters were attacking in such masses would have been no trouble for the Circle Mage. So to lose that strength was tough. They would just have to reform their plan and hope for the best. They were still a strong group even so, plus Nessa felt she had plenty left in her magic reserves. Summoning Agatha had been the only one who'd really used a significant amount of power to summon and that was reflective in her ability to fight. As little as the Lightning Valkyrie had done so far, Nessa had no doubt the woman's presence would provide it's uses soon enough.

As the group shifted into place, Markus approached her, commenting quietly about her safety. A black mist lifts his fingers, moving towards Nessa. She felt the magic inside her respond to it, bouncing excitedly from within as it grew stronger. Her violet eyes scanned his face, but his eyes would not meet hers. "Thank you." She commented softly, before turning away. She didn't know why he'd chosen to do it, whether it really was just for the strategic purposes. But she appreciated the help, perhaps if they weren't in such a vague fight she may have refused to the extra power. Wanting to fight on her own strength alone, but this wasn't one of those scenarios were stubbornness was nothing but foolish. There were just too many unpredictable layers to this mission. If she was going to lead them properly, she had to think carefully. Recklessly refusing magic for the sake of pride just wasn't worth putting her teammates in risk. Besides, in a way Markus was putting his faith in her, helping her should she need to protect the group from the front. That was probably the most positive way she could look at it.

After a while of travelling, the group had arrived at the swamp terrain surrounding the fortress ahead. Haraka offered an opinion on what people might have used the castle for. She nodded, "It's very well possible. It could also have potential clues about the pathogen." She added. The group moved towards the swamp, the closer they got to the castle. The harder it became to move through it. The ground's terrain was less hard ground, and more like thick, damp mud. the bottom of her white boots were thickly coated in it. Something that made the girl cringe internally, this was not going to be easy to clean. If less tense circumstances she might have complained aloud. But she didn't want to divert the attention of the others just for the sake of her frustration over her clothes being ruined. Surrounding them there were large pools of water that seem to spread across the land. It wasn't easy, Nessa had a feeling that one step in the wrong place would likely result in one falling into the marsh.

As they closed in on the ruins, Nessa came the realisation that the ruins were larger than she realised. Spreading across quite a large span of the land. The ground seemed to rise up as they got closer to the building itself. When stepping on this raised earth, Nessa noticed it was a little harder than what they had been walking through. Which was a relief, walking through a swamp wasn't exactly the most comfortable experienced. She was sure some of the water hadn't gotten inside her boots somehow, making them less comfortable than they had been. She really couldn't wait to get home and have a nice hot soak in the bath. She kicked off some of the heavy mud that coated her shoes. She did a quick scan of the area, eying the marshes for a moment. She had a strange feeling, perhaps it was a hunch. But something was telling her that this place wasn't safe. Her instinct was warning her to leave immediately, but that could have had something to do with the creepy layout of the land. "Looks like a lot of the walls have crumbled over time, let's see if we can move inside. Be mindful though the structure has probably weakened over time and could come down on you, so try not to lean on anything." It was more of a reminder to herself than anything, because if anyone was like to do something as foolish as that. Well, it was her.

She began to walk around the edge of the building, keeping an eye out for a gap or a doorway they could move through. Finally, she spotted a region of walls that had broken off completely, allowing for entry into the castle. Nessa moved towards it, she peeked inside first checking the inside. The top of the wall came up to the height of her thighs, meaning she needed to lifted herself slightly in order to clamber inside. Scooting legs over, she dropped down on the other side. She looked around, "It's clear." She called to the others, indicating for them to follow her. She began to wander further inside. The was still grass and earth beneath her, suggesting that there had only breached the first wall of the castle. There was probably more building further in. She moved across the land, keeping an eye out. They were more likely to find something useful inside the castle, rather than in the outer walls. But they just needed to find a way in.

"Nessa Lux," Tiphanae's voice drew her attention, Nessa glanced over, to see the Valkyrie pointed to a wall which had in it what looked like an archway. She moved towards it, eying the edge, there was broken wood there. On top of which the edges had little rusted chunks of metal that when looked at closely Nessa assumed might have once been door hinges. This was an entrance at some point, although either the doorway had rotted away or something had ripped it off completely. Nessa summoned a few orbs of light, having them hover around her as she moved into the building. Stepping inside, it was pretty dark in here, save for the light from emanated from the broken regions of wall and Nessa's starlight. Nessa remained quietly, listening carefully. She moved her orbs further in and keeping one near Markus so to light up the area behind him. Just in case.

For a while all that could be heard was the sounds of their own steps, even Tiphanae had landed and was walking behind Nessa. Not wanting to fly in such a restricted space. After a good ten minutes of walking, the group reach the end of the corridor which seem to split into a stairwell. As Nessa looked up, she could see that the stairs leading up had disintegrated entirely. Climbing them would be risky, she glanced down, the stairs seemed to spiral away into darkness. She took a slow breath, she didn't like this one bit. "Guess we're heading down." She muttered, before leading the group down the stairway. This seemed to go on for a little longer, spiralling round and round, further and further down. Nessa could sense the disconnection as she moved further away from the stars, she knew from experience that this meant they had moved quite deep underground.

Finally, after an uncomfortable amount of steps, the stairs came to a stop, leading them to an open room. It was an empty space. The only noticeable thing in it was a large metal doorway on the opposing wall to the stairway. Nessa eyed it for a moment, before turning the handle. She was met with resistance, Locked... She thought. Which of course, only made her want to get in more. She eyed it for a moment, "If you move, I'll kick it down." Agatha said irritably, obviously bored of the slow pace at this point. Nessa shook her head, "The force could bring the ruins crashing down on us." She told her, leaning forward she eyed the door handle, trying to peek through the cap for a moment. "It's okay... I have an idea."  She said softly. She pressed her hands against the door, "Move back a little bit." She instructed the others. Light would flow to her fingers had her orbs appeared around her hands. This wasn't something she'd tried before, but she been told it was possible with her families type of magic. So it was worth a shot. The starlight grew hotter and hotter; the air around Nessa began to ripple from the sudden increase in its heat. She began to sweat; her body was resistance her magic meaning that it wouldn't harm her. But that didn't mean it was any less comfortable to raise its temperature so high. The heat spread through the door, causing the door to almost glow as it began to melt away. Nessa stepped away, watching as the metal dripped away, leaving a person side hole in the doorway. Nessa stood panting for a moment, before addressing the Wind Valkyrie, "Tiphanae, can you use your wind and cool the metal for me? Be careful not to use too much power." Nessa said backing away, the light leaving her hands. Tiphanae stepped forward. She waved her hands over the metal. Releasing a soft, cool wind over it, like Nessa she could drop lower the temperate of her wind. Although it wasn't going to be enough to cool the door down completely, it would at least allow for it to harden slightly. Tiphanae stepped away, nodding at Nessa, who smiled back appreciatively.

"Should be okay to climb through. Careful not to touch the metal guys." Nessa told them, moving forward once more she stepped through the hole. Moving into the room, she recreated the orbs of the light to light up the room. They would spread out, floating around and illuminating the space. It looked like a study, except for the fact it was quite large. Nessa moved further inside to allow the others entry in the room.

"Okay, we should be okay to move around freely and take a look around in here. See if we can find anything useful to take back to the alliance." She said to the others, before moving further in to explore.

    Haraka Omaras

White draconian slit pupils moved, purple gracing the persons face. They knew nothing of the books price, nor why the fairy tail members voices sounded off. Markuses words certainly caught him off guard. Did that man call Aven a pretty boy? Was that a tease towards someone, or was that an honest comment? Teasing, it definitely had to be a tease, right? But still, if that was teasing, why not ease back? Even if it wasn't directed towards the doctor. "So you think Avens pretty? Is he your type? Is he as innocent and doe eyed as he looks?" Of course it was after speaking that it was realized that this actually didn't sound like teasing at all. He just sounded like a curious old man butting in to the youths love lives. In any case, it was time to travel through the waters and to the giant building in the distance. The West Fiore Trading Company member hadn't had issues moving through the area, but he also had wings and a need to at least feel a little presentable. As much as he loved the water, feeling it move in his veins, this wasn't the best water to be in. The swamp waters may be still, but it was clouded and heavy. The distracting and ever present call towards the water had to be ignored. He was a salt water creature anyway, so trying to breath in other types of water was a no go. With how untrustworthy this water was and how intense the call could get when so close to a large body of water? There was just no way Omaras would risk touching it. His wings didn't need much movement to keep him in the air, his large long shrimp tail working well as a steer in the air, even if  he was close to the water and going slow enough where a steer didn't feel very needed.

Even the slowest creeping cars needed a steer though, otherwise it would crash. The closer they came to the ruins, the easier it was to cover away and ignore the waters call. Something that was wonderful to think about sometimes? Old buildings, old places, things that could remind the man of old times. Thoughts thoughts helped the mixed blood feel a bit less old, a bit more like he had somewhere to truly belong, if only for a brief time. His flight ended as soon as the soil became solid enough to stand on without sinking, clean dark dress shoes quietly touching against the soil. He wasn't surprised at how large the structure looked up close, but the half dragon did have the upper hand of having been alive during the time such structures were still widely used. The pale ice blue skinned person wanted to leave the group and fully explore everything the building had to offer. Such ideas sounded so wondrous, but it went against the task at hand. That's right, this was a mission that effected how well the guilds could treat this land, or those who had gone in it. Even if he loved the idea of exploring such a large and old structure, the lives of others were far more important than the curiosity of an old person. There was no other thing to do besides wait until the leader found a way for all of them to get inside, to be patient and follow along. Being a few feet taller then Nessa, the man had less issues getting through the gap. She hadn't actually spent much time to find a way in, so that was good. She was pretty smart for someone so young, though that seemed like the theme with the youth these days as a whole.

The orbs of light popping up when they walked inside reminded the young looking man that not everyone could see into the darkness. Should he...? Of course the stairs that would lead to the light where in the worst of shape, it was likely exposed to the elements more. This didn't make the stairs down safe or anything, just possible to use. Judging from the balls of light, he assumed the other couldn't see in the darkness. It made sense, not everyone was a nocturnal creature. Taking a deep breath, he reached for something that sat under his clothes the entire time. It had sat there like a poisoned weight, ignored the majority of the time. Right now though? After taking a deep breath, taloned fingers reached under the dark grey dress shirt. A necklace was pulled from underneath before it was removed from around his neck completely. The item in question had an elegant and delicate looking silver chain, a jeweled and lavish looking key hanging from the item. A dim, but far reaching light started radiating from the mixed bloods person as soon as the jewelry had been removed. It was a light of many blues, creating patterns along the half demon s wings and tail. The ice key dragon necklace was put away, though the man was sure it would end up back on at some point before their mission was over. Haraka went back to taking after that was done with, saying nothing of what was just removed or why. Actually going down the staircase as a bit soothing for the aged person. It meant nothing new popping up, making it easier to catch up on note taking. Still, reaching the bottom was also more than welcome. The locked door seemed like a problem, but it was good that their leader was level headed.

Possibly more so than one of her summons but that wasn't something the doctor would say out loud. He was smart enough to not speak things that could piss off warrior women that could more than likely dig him a quick grave. Melting a hole through the door wasn't really the solution he expected, but whatever works. Omaras took in a deep breath, approaching the person sized hole before leaning down a bit, tucking his wings behind his back the best the man could muster, than carefully going through the hole. Getting a room to explorer was a nice payoff though. With a little focus and effort, his wings and tail became hidden. This would make moving around an area with papers much easier, even if it took away a little focus. The only person who noticed it took effort to tuck the limbs away was him anyway. Full lips curled a bit more, a joy burrowing itself into the mans normally calm gentle expression. The ice blue skinned person rushed over towards the closest bookcase. None of it that he saw was written in a language that could be remotely called current, but that one fine.
"Oh I haven't seen a number of these being sold for a long time. Oh!" Long fingers wiggled a bit before carefully grabbing up one of the books. The excited expression remained on their lips, a sparkle in his eyes. "I haven't read you before." Of course, the west fiore trading company member was only looking over a small sample of the reading material in the well sized room. The book was clearly old, so the young looking person knew that it was best to be as gentle as possible with it.

There was no title, the images being unfamiliar to his person. Was this something useful? He carefully opened it, going through a blank page before reaching the first sign of written language in this book. The results? It was slightly disappointing. It wasn't an unknown medical book published by a long lost doctor or herbalist. This didn't speak of the local flora and fauna.
"I... think this book is where their supplies were recorded.." Their voice had slipped from, the carefully crafted gentle smooth tone to his natural voice. The deep and silky smooth voice had a tone of upset. He was more than a little disappointed. The man had been hoping to find something that connected him to an earlier part of his life for a brief amount of time. Instead, he found something that wouldn't talk about how or what happened. Was this even useful? Well, one shouldn't expect to grab a winner their first try anyway. Harakas fire elemental spirit had followed, one arm still holding onto the eku. She didn't really say anything, but she did glance around for a moment. Her eyes feel on a book that was on a table. She didn't point at it, run to it, but there was certainly an interest. Why? Who knows. If Omaras had noticed her doing this, the man certainly would have rushed to check the book over. Seeing as the mix blood had yet to notice, it left him not approaching it in the slightest. He had forgotten to introduce her in general, seeing as things had been rushed so much before. Also, he hadn't realized she wouldn't have any issues being out in the contaminated air.

But now he did realize that mistake. The book was lowered from his person a bit, the white pupils remaining visible due to the cold in the building. The deep blue sapphire colored eyes looked at her briefly, then at the eku, then at the others. Was it the right time to say? Well,
they were busy, but nothing was trying to eat their faces off. His gentle and soft voice was back, as if the deep one had never ushered from within.
"Sorry, I didn't mention my elemental spirits before because I didn't think they would be able to handle to contaminated air. I use my ocean magic as a medium, this is my fire elemental spirit. There's also her husband lightening and wind whos their leader? So if you see her or the other two, that's who they are."

The Blood of death kept me breathing. From that fluid birthed a new rhythm.

Post by Nessa Cordelia Lux 27th May 2019, 9:10 am

Nessa would move further into the room, the Valkyries following swiftly after her. She would move along to the far right side of the room. Her gaze wandering over the walls idly. For such a large space, it's walls were fairly bare. There were no decorative pieces, only shelving for books or pegs for tools that hung from them. Nessa moved along towards a table which seemed to be left in quite a disarray. Despite the room being closed off, whoever had been in here last hadn't sought to tidy up after they left. She wondered if they had left it in a hurry, who knew the memories this room held.

As the Starlight Maiden examined the desk, she would hear Haraka commenting about the records; she glanced over. As she did, she noticed one of the far walls had something...different about it. She moved around the table towards it, stepping in close. Upon closer inspection, she would realise that there was...etchings. Markings, much like runes, engraved into the brickwork, as though carved there. The detail was immense; it spread across the entire wall, like calculations almost. "Tiphanae, do you know this language?" She would ask, the Valykries had been around for as long as the existence of the world. She figured if anyone was likely to know what it meant, it would be them. The Wind Valkyrie turned, approaching her summoner. She examined it, "Yes..." Nessa's eyes would widen, "This is ancient magic, a very old kind of scripture."

"Can you translate it?" She asked Tiphanae cocked her head, eying the words for a moment, contemplating the request. "I can, but the quantity is fairly grande, it would take hours to recite." Nessa heard Haraka explain about his spirits, glancing over at the spirits. She threw the man an understanding smile before returning her gaze to the wall. "I wonder how long it would take to trace this, probably way too long. Unless..." Nessa turned, moving back the table, she began to collect every blank piece of paper she could find. Laying it out on the ground, "Tiph, Agatha, can you give me a hand?" The girls would quickly follow suit, scouring the room for blank paper and making room on the ground to create a space equivalent to the size of the wall. Fortunately, the scale of the floor was greater than the etching, meaning that they were able to gather enough. "Okay, here goes." Nessa stepped around the paper on the floor to the wall covered in markings, taking a breath, she manipulated her magic. Gently allowing it to flow from her fingers. Little trails of starlight would begin to spread from her fingers, moving across the wall and seeping into the dips where the runes had been carved. Spreading outwards until the entire wall was filled with glowing text. Carefully, she would back away, moving across the pages, until she had moved past it. She would manipulate the words, which floated away from the wall, being careful to hold the scripture in its original form. She moved the light towards the pages, lowering it slowly. The heat from the starlight raised ever so slightly, just enough to burn the words onto the pages, but not enough to set it a light. The starlight vanished after a moment, and the pages on the floor were covered in a replica of the walls imprint, it wasn't perfect, but it was close enough. "Yes! We did it!" Nessa said, pumping the air with her fist as she and Tiphanae quickly set about collecting the pages. Before carefully folding them away into her satchel.

"Oi, girl." Agatha mumbled, Nessa glanced other at her, Agatha wasn't looking at her, but at the far wall. "You might wanna take a look at your handiwork." Nessa followed her gaze, only for her violet eyes to widen at the site. The runes were glowing, but with a different light, the glow was bright red, spreading across each etching ominously. "Something tells me, this isn't going to be good." The Lightning Valkyrie commented idly, Nessa took a step back, panic beginning to rise. Panic and frustration, she should have been more cautious, why didn't she anticipate that the runes might react in such a way. She watched with bated breath as the last red line filled it. There was a pause, silence as nothing happened until finally, she heard it.

    A roar in the distance.

Followed by a distinct rumble, the ground beneath them began to shake. Books would begin to fall from the shelving, and the ceiling would begin to crumble around them. "RUN." Nessa shouted, turning on her heels, she would move towards the doorway, group in to. She stopped outside of the door to make sure everyone got out of the room, before moving up the stairs as quickly as she could. "Nice going brat, just had to bring this place crumbling down on us, huh."

"I'm sorry, I didn't realise it would react like that," Nessa squealed back, resisting the urge to cry at her own stupidity. Moving as fast as they good, Nessa led the group back outside of the building, arriving in the courtyard that had been in before they'd entered the castle. She stopped, taking a moment to catch her breath. "Is everyone out?" She asked, turning to count the heads, sighing in relief. They had managed to get out safely, which was ideal, considering the distance crashing that could be heard as the inside of the building began to collapse. "Good, at least we're safe."

At least that's what she thought until she heard the distinct roar from earlier repeat itself, Only this time, much louder and much closer. In the sky above, soared a white dragon-like creature. Beautiful and sleek as it was, undoubtedly as it soared in a circle above the castle, it was hunting down its prey. "Quick, let's move to the outside of the building, we're trapped in this courtyard, it'll be a disadvantage to fight here." She quickly ran across the courtyard, moving towards the broken wall they had climbed over earlier. As she reached it, she stopped, as she peered out into the swap, another monster broke through the water. Rising up to over two hundred feet in height was a giant snake-like creature. With glowing white eyes, and a jaw filled with deadly looking fangs. The serpent spotted her, hissing aggressively and moving closer to the edge of the castle while keeping its body in the water.

"EYAAAA, NOT THIS WAY, NOT THIS WAY!" She screamed, turning around and running away from the gap as quickly as she could to create distance between them and the second monster. She glanced around; these monsters weren't like the others. They seemed immensely strong from appearance, and to face two of them, meant they would need to split up. Maybe if I get everyone to higher ground we'll have a better shot? She spotted a set of rocks, like a formation that stuck out of the ground, it would be ideal to climb, with the added potential of hiding between the formations if need be. She began to move towards it swiftly. As she did, however, the earth began to rumble once again, causing her to stumble as she ran. She reached the boulder, placing a hand on it to steady herself. She reached up to climb it but noticed the rocks shaking and stopped. As she eyed the rocks, a section of the rocks seemed to split horizontally, moving, either way, to reveal what looked like a giant eyeball. Nessa shrieked, backing away quickly, as the rocks trembled furiously, the earth began to split and rising from the ground was the third beast. Rising up to tower above them, Nessa backed away quickly. Three giant monsters now, she gulped, taking a moment to think. Before deciding, she turned to the others.

"Okay, I don't see any other way, we're going to have to take one each... Markus, can you take that flying white dragon and Haraka, if you got after the Serpent monster in the swamp. I'll take this rock giant thing." She ordered, this seemed to be a reasonable enough request, "And guys... whatever you do... don't die." She told them, before turning back to the beast. She was scared, perhaps even terrified. She'd never faced a monster of this magnitude before; the Valkyrie stepped up alongside her. They, of course, would accompany their summoner.  The beast, who seemed rather disgruntled about being woken from its slumber, looked around angrily searching for the culprit. Nessa flicked her wrist; orbs began to fly around her body, lifting her off the ground. She moved closer to the beast so that it would concentrate on her and only her.

"Agatha." Nessa barked, the Lightning Valkyrie grinned.

"Got it." The Valkyrie soared forward, speedily flying up over the best. She would turn in the air,  unsheathing her sword. She would point to the sky, causing it the rumble slightly. A bolt of the lightning would soar from the sky. Smashing into the back of the neck of the beast. The rock would only crack slight and serve to irritate the creature. It reared up further, opening it's maw wide. It would release a blast of cold air, Nessa and Tiphanae darted away barely managed to escape the blast. Tiphanae spun through the air, moving around the body of the monster as though searching for a weak spot. She soared around its shoulder and moved down its body swiftly, beating her powerful white wings are she soared, she waved her arm, releasing a slash of wind at its underbelly. Although this didn't seem to do much more than Tiphanae's attack. Nessa waved her hand through the air, summoning a set of five orbs, they would soar towards the beast. The beast seemed ready for the attack, roaring once more, it would blow away the orbs, all but one getting through and smashing it in the face. Nessa growled in frustration; she was going to need to use stronger spells to beat this thing.

Nessa held out her palm, Starlight flowing through her body and into her hand as she did so. All the while moving through the air, she would manoeuvre herself so she hovered over the shoulder of the beast. Once her spear finished forming, she would thrust it downwards into the beast's neck between the space in which the jagged rock stuck out, she let out a fierce cry as she exerted as much force as she could trying to break through the monsters hard flesh. It would let out a loud roar, thrashing wildly. Nessa kicked off of the beast, moving into the air above it. She looked around, it seemed that the others were fully engaged in their fight with the other monsters. She would just have to hope they would be alright. The Valkyries would rejoin her in the air.

"He's not taking much damage from our attacks, my sword is practically ineffective against him." Agatha commented, sounding serious for once. Nessa glanced at her, "Still, my spear got through, which means it isn't impervious to magic, we just need to keep at it. Dart around it as much as you can, see if we can confuse it, so my hits are more likely to land." She ordered Tiphanae nodded, but Agatha looked hesitant, as though she didn't like the plan. However, instead of arguing, she sighed, nodding in agreement. The three girls split up, soaring back towards the beast. The two Valkyries manoeuvre around the beast, hacking and slicing away at it as and where they could. As Agatha had stated, their swords were practically useless against the hard rock of the body of the monster. But still, it would keep the monster occupied as Nessa moved behind it. Her hands and feet would glow as she summoned starlight around them, she flew downwards towards the beast in a great burst of speed. She would pull back her fist, swinging it forward to deliver a punch directly into the creature's spine. Then kicking back off the creature, she would glide around it towards it's front as it turned to try and see what attacked it. Using the momentum to deliver a hard kick to its cheek, the starlight smashing into the rock as she did so. This knocked the creature slightly, causing it to stumble to the side. It would tremble in anger, spinning back and roaring, releasing another wave of cold air.

The very moment Tiphanae made the mistake of flying in front of its jaw, the blast of air hit the Wind Valkyrie with full force and sending her flying through the air. Nessa and Agatha would cry out, flying towards Tiphanae. Agatha got their first, catching her sister before she hit the ground. She lowered her down, "Tiphanae, Are you ok?" Agatha cried, actual concern in her voice. Tiphanae would cough, her body slowly being coated in crystals. "I'm fine, just winded, but my body... I can't move." It seemed the crystals hardening all over her were holding her in place; they were continuing to spread, move up her neck and over her face. Nessa eyed her frozen friend, rage welling within her. The anger rising up so quickly, and so ferocious Nessa could barely contain herself.

"Agatha... stay with Tiphanae." The Valkyries looked up at their summoner, shocked by the malevolence in her voice. A dark, demonic energy would begin to surround Nessa, and the grass and fauna around her would begin to wilt and die. "And what will you do?" Agatha asked, her tone uncertain, Tiphanae went to speak, but the crystal had formed over her mouth, preventing her from warning her sister about the state the Starlight Summoner had gone into. Nessa's turned, her violet eyes would turn completely black, and her face would contort into a monstrous rage.

    "I'm going to end this."

As she spoke, she would not sound like herself, but as though a second, much deeper voice was talking alongside her. She would begin to walk across the plane. The beast would turn it's gaze to her, watching her cautiously as she approached. As she got close, it would open its mouth, ready to release another bout of crystalizing breath in an attempt to kill its attacker. Nessa would hold out her palms outwards, facing them towards the beast, her thumbs crossed over one another. And in her demonic voice, she would utter a single word.

    "Die."

Starlight erupted from her palms, like an explosion it rocketed outwards towards the beast and everything in front of her. It's immense power covering the entire fortress in magical light, burning everything in its path with its destructive heat. The monsters were smothered it in, and within a matter of second, it's body would begin to crumble as the magic broke through its hard shell. The rocks would fall apart, and the beast would be reduced to a pile of scorched rubble. After a moment, the light would fade, the Starlight maiden stood there, looking out over the beasts remains for a moment, before turning towards the other. Her eyes still completely black; she would slowly walk towards the girls.

    Kill...them...

Agatha stood up, holding out her sword, unsure about the dark energy that was now emanating from Nessa.  Nessa would continue her approach, stopped barely an edge from the tip of the sword. She would eye Agatha with a cold, hateful glare, the corner of her lips lifting into a snarl.

    Kill them all..

The Starlight Maidens hand would rise slowly, the magic swelling in her palm, as she prepared to release another attack.

"Whatever you do now, girl... just remember, you will have to live with it for the rest of your life." Agatha said solemnly, Nessa's body would freeze, she would begin to tremble. Bringing her hands to the side of her face, her expression becomes pained. She would let out a cry, and the darkest would fade from her eyes, the demonic energy would disappate, and she would return to normal. Panting from the exertion of fighting for control over her own body. Agatha would wait a moment, before lowering her sword. Nessa's eyes grew sad, she moving towards Tiphanae, placing her hands on the Valkyrie, her soft light would glow under her fingers, healing her summon, the crystalized rock would fall away. A single tear falling down the girl's cheek, she turned, from what she could tell, the others had also just about defeated their monsters and were ok. She wiped the tear from her face and will a shaky breath addressed them all.

"That's enough guys... let's go home."

    END.
