FATE HAS MARKED ME AS A VILLIAN
EVEN THOUGH I'M JUST CURSED
Lance was sitting in the guildhall, flipping through a book on magic and sorcery when his small demon companion, Ambit, flew over to him with a slip of paper. He hovered in front of Lance for a second, the mage paying him no mind until Ambit cleared his throat. Without looking up from the book Lance spoke “What? You getting into writing now?” he questioned, turning the page. Ambit sighed and shook his head “No, it’s a job Lance! And I want you to take it!" the demon said, spinning around in the air before stopping and dizzily holding the piece of paper in front of him.
Lance looked up and took the slip in his hand, looking it over before placing it next to him and returning to his book. “So?” Ambit asked, regaining his mobility. “No.” the young mage replied, not paying attention to anything else but his book at this point. Ambit grabbed the book from Lance’s hand and flew higher into the air so he couldn’t reach it. “Come oooooon~” he cried “You have been cooped up in here for the past few days! And besides, it’s just some weed pulling!”.
Lance hopped up and tried to grab for the book which only caused his partner to fly higher into the air. Knowing when to give up, the mage sighed and stuffed his hands in his pockets. “Fine.” he muttered to himself “It would be nice to get out anyway and this job doesn’t seem to cause any harm to anyone.” he faintly smiled “I mean, what's the worst that could happen.” he said as he motioned towards Ambit “Let’s go.”. Ambit cheerfully cheered and placed the job slip down before following Lance out the door.
It had been a few days since Lance had joined the guild and he still was not able to work well together with people. It was true that there were times when his mood would slightly be less hostile towards people but he mostly kept to himself in regards of friendship and conversation, only talking when spoken to. Today however he was not in the guildhall but instead in the beanstalk village where he found himself looking for an herbalist.
