So, I wanted to ask if it was possible if we could maybe extend the max magic you can send out to grading to at least to. I feel like it’s really depressing for people who have multiple characters, and not be able to actually use the magic they wanted to for that character because they wanted to add more.
Maybe?

Re: Maybe?
Agreed. We are pretty much held back by how slow our magic is all completed causing us to have to wait weeks now to get things finished completely.

Re: Maybe?
Disagree. Older members can use their old stuff so technically speaking they are not held back. Lets not pull an Eris and use the excuse of magic grading taking ages as a reason people are being held back. While I understand people wanting to get their stuff graded and get the shiny approval sticker, people need to understand we are dealing with new staff and therefore new graders. They are not as fast to grade things as the old and instead of having things memorized they're having to take tons of time checking everything. Most are new to grading in general and having to learn quite a bit in a very short amount of time. If this were old staff I would agree with the increase given their experience. But this is not, and even if the suggestion says 2 magics now it would only be a matter of time before it goes up to 3. So on and so forth.
I fear Staff would reach burn out and become demotivated if the magic approval list kept increasing by 2 for each person instead of the 1 it is now. They have lives too and for some we're reaching midterm season I imagine. Also keep in mind not everyone on the staff team is grading. We technically only have 4 magic graders and all of them go at different speeds and are at different levels of experience. New magic can be easy, but once you hit the higher ranks the length of time per magic increases, especially if the person that made the magic made something a bit more complicated or even doesn't know the rules very well themselves. The moment they allow more magics to be posted will be the moment they will also increase the amount of time you are required to wait before poking them about it.
Also, if people in your thread are okay with it, you can actually use your new stuff while waiting to get it graded. Obviously don't pvp with it, but as far as pve is concerned you already decided on that spell and aside from maybe an edit or two, it's going to be the same spell you wanted. I have done this before without issue and without staff threatening to chop my head off for doing so.

Re: Maybe?
I would love to be able to post more than one magic a week, it is a little frustrating because I myself have four characters, one of which I can't use because he's a new character and where I can use Ruvel's former magic I have no want to do so as the magic type bothers me in all honesty so kills my muse. I can understand that most the staff is new and still learning how to grade in general, that they have personal lives and are also members here that want to rp but then so do those who are asking for more than one magic every seven days per person.
I can see Samira's point of view however on this matter but on this occassion I have to side with the majority. Even if it is one magic per account each week that might help those with multiple accounts but again they would have to understand that staff are still new and so it may take some time to get to them let alone through it.

Re: Maybe?
I understand Sami’s point of view, but I don’t believe adding one more to the max would completely burn out staff. For me personally, I actually wanted to make 2 characters when I came back because I knew I would have a good bit of muse after a month on hiatus. So, it’s really hard for me to decide on just one till the week after. Also, I wanted to be able to revamp all my Magic’s asap. Having so many characters makes it so hard to do things, especially when you have 4. Some people want to wait because they had ranked up their characters, and personally don’t feel like it’s right to actually go on without that rank of magic. Others had multiple ideas that made the changes in their magic important with plot. Having to wait 2-4 weeks because of the fact that they have of other characters can really destroy muse. However, adding one more to the max helps because if you had 4 characters you wanted magic stuff on, you would be able to get them done and graded wtihin 2 weeks. But if the change didn’t happen, it’d take a whole month. I just don’t feel like it’s fair to both the players or graders. After all, we learn by doing things. If it takes a little push for a grader to understand more after correcting them, then that’s what it should take. A lot of people in this world learn by doing things more than they learn by reading them. With this, I think it could make staff a lot more efficient in their grading. That is the reason why trial moderators are assigned to grade magic, so they can learn while doing it. So, why not have that same environment for the other staff as well. It really does benefit both to have at least a tiny increase.

Not... really. You're estimating 2 weeks for 2 magics, but that wouldn't be the case at all. From past experiences, there have been staff that consistently wait over 7 days before even looking at an app they claimed, and this was even after being poked. This is just to get them to look at it. That isn't going into whatever edits they have to type and how long it'll take them to respond after you made said edits. This is also not going into how long it'll be in the approval thread before it is even claimed. Imo, you would honestly probably still be waiting the exact amount of time as you would be now, probably more honestly because the list would be bigger. Not saying current staff would do that, but I have seen this multiple times.
Also, you mention having 4 characters. While I respect alts, I would be a bit annoyed if the approval thread was constantly cluttered with a backlog of alt applications when there are people trying to get their mains done and even newbies trying to get their very first magic approved. Newbies are the ones that tend to take off the quickest if they're kept waiting too long from what I have seen.
While I respect your suggestion and opinion, I honestly think this is going to cause issues. Adding 1 more magic to the max doesn't seem like a lot by itself, but when you factor in all the members who have 3 magics and even alts with multiple magics that is actually a huge increase. Especially given there was yet another rule update and those that JUST got done getting their magic approved could very well re-open them to adjust.
This isn't really going to affect me at all either way since my main's 3rd magic is almost done. So whichever way it goes is fine by me. My opinion on the matter is obvious, but I won't complain if there is a max increase for those that want it. I admit, I originally thought it was a silly restriction when former staff implemented it. Just don't be surprised by the results that may come with this suggestion if approved.

This and this. I honestly agree with the reasoning here that being able to submit only thing a week per individual does slow the process down tremendously but we have to understand we have three moderators here, two of which are completely new to grading and only one whom has been a moderator before. Then we have Alley and myself who'll also partake in grading occasionally (Alley whom has done it before and I who has become reasonably acquainted with the rules over the past few days) but less so (because of our other responsibilities as administrators).Samira Nassar wrote:Musicalbunny wrote: However, adding one more to the max helps because if you had 4 characters you wanted magic stuff on, you would be able to get them done and graded wtihin 2 weeks.

Though I appreciate the suggestions you members are giving to try and alleviate a scenario whereby adding more apps to grade can still be done efficiently; this doesn't resolve the issue where our staff are still relatively unexperienced and need to be given time to adjust and adapt. They don't need an incessant backlog of applications to fuel their stress and overwork them to the bone.
This isn't to say I agree with the one application per week though. I'm just saying we will give it some more time, maybe a few weeks or so, to allow our current moderators to adjust to the rules and truly learn the rules to improve their own efficiency. When that's the case, I'm certain this change will be relatively easy to make happen! If we were to implement this change now, regardless of whatever suggestions are being thrown out, this won't resolve a situation whereby moderators will have to deal with an increasing amount of work whilst having barely familiarized themselves with how grading works.

Re: Maybe?
It's my pleasure. As I said, this is by no means a conclusive no to this suggestion. I'm just putting it on hold while our current staff adjust their grading ability to the point where we're all comfortable to shift the workload up a notch!Musicalbunny wrote:No problem.
