    Spoiler:

I've been out there and seen the things she's made

Delivering mail was no joke. Mythal had shirked the mail man's defeatist attitude after he realized there were twenty more houses to visit and had, begrudgingly, agreed to finish the job. But after he had reached the last house, the God Slayer was amazed at how tired he really was. Dabbing his brow with the back of his hand, he slotted the last three envelopes in the mailbox and glanced at the sweat beads that now graced his skin. "Now that that's over..." he grumbled as he shook the moisture away and pocketed his hands in his pants.

He had been returning from another job when this one had popped up out of nowhere. It had been an inconvenience, if only because it meant interacting with yet another person, but those kind of annoyances were ones he couldn't let rule his life anymore. He was a Fairy Tail wizard now and that meant he had a responsibility to represent the guild in the best possible light whenever possible. That also meant small little deeds and chores became serious considerations. He couldn't scoff at delivering a note to a friend of the guild at the Ace of Spades and he couldn't turn away beleaguered citizens, especially ones willing to pay. He certainly wasn't going to be scolded for dismissing people that weren't willing to pay; Fairy Tail did have a business to run after all. But also turning his back on opportunities could creative negative feedback and the last thing he wanted was to get scolded so soon into his residency. "If only because it would be a nuisance," he said wit ha sigh, continuing his trek back to the guild.

I've been out there and seen the things she's made

He didn't know Magnolia very well yet; he'd only just been introduced to the town when he came here to meet with the Fairy Tail guild. Granted he had managed to find that odd nightclub the evening before but he hadn't really explored beyond that. A gutter had played his bed until first morning light had come and then he had stumbled over to the main street to find the guild. So in truth, he had only been to two official places before he had wandered his way to the guild hall. Then he had set out on another tiresome trek to deliver the mail and found himself in a section that was completely new and unknown to him.

So how did he find his way back? He was forced to try and follow his footsteps back the way he came. Asking for directions was an option but he'd frankly had his fill of talking to people beyond his guildmates. He hadn't met them all yet but he felt obligated to be sociable with them. He would have eventually be known within the guild without him doing the introductions so he may as well go with the flow. If he didn't, he may be branded as anti-social and while that normally sounded like heaven, doing so within the organization could lead to him missing out on job opportunities. So as much as it went against his nature and choice, he would be social and outgoing -- to a point. Once they got to know him well enough, he would feel far more comfortable just doing things his own way. Either that or he would grow to enjoy their company and actually begin to enjoy people's presences around him.

The former seemed far more likely.

I've been out there and seen the things she's made

During his trek back to the guild, he found himself in Magnolia's market place. It was filled to capacity with people; a veritable nightmare for the God Slayer that only made him grumble and groan more. Now he had to physically push himself through people just to move forward. It was bad enough to to talk to people but now he had to actually touch them. He did his best to keep his hands in his pockets and just slide through the gaps between shifting and moving people, bending and squeezing at an almost supernatural speed and finesse. He'd always been able to 'sense' where people would move, like an awareness that he could never really explain. Of course there were also the moments of premonitions; he never saw flashing images like people write about in books but he simply had this understanding when certain things were going to happen. It created the knowledge in his mind, like a writer's pen crafting the words of a page. There were, more often than not, moments that directly involved him; like an interaction between other people and himself or even a fight. It was never as useful as telling him when or where he had managed to leave Curse, which he then realized was missing yet again.

His hand instinctively went to his side to tap the handle and found only his clothing there. In fact, he couldn't remember the last time he had even held it in his hand. Mythal honestly wasn't great at keeping track of his own things, as meager as they were. The weapon was the most personal item he had beyond his memories and it was always disappearing. It was, perhaps, even more ironic that it always managed to come back. He shrugged to himself, knowing full well it would wind up on his path at some point.

    It always did.

I've been out there and seen the things she's made

Mythal made his way through the center of the market and managed to find more space, enough for him to breathe. As he allowed himself a moment to take some inhales from the pockets of clean, human-free air, his eyes caught sight of something. A stage was being set up near the back wall, with a handful of people hanging up banners both around the wooden beams and on the walls just beyond. He watched as the main banner, the one announcing the attraction, was unraveled on the front of the stage and revealed a name that was both lavish and odd. Beanstalk and the Peapods was stitched across the blue piece of fabric in gold lettering, the apparent name of the group that was going to perform. As Mythal was busy questioning that, movement on top of the stage drew his attention. And the reason was it seemed to be a humanoid moving, only... smaller.

That was because the source of the movement was an actual small person, who was conversing with some of the workers and giving orders. By the contrast of his face, he looked a bit like a gnome; he was just missing the long white beard and pointy red hat. He was younger looking, but that didn't mean much when it came to non-humans. They could look as young as a daisy and be older than the dirt. As he was busy mentally cataloguing that, two tall and elegant elven women came up from behind the gnome (easier to classify him that way), bending down to touch his shoulders. He turned and smiled up at them, his eyes warming to the sight of their grinning faces. But as he turned, he caught sight of the God Slayer looking at him and turned his gaze to meet it. And his eyes instantly widened in recognition. He pulled himself away from his two lady friends and ran to the front of the stage, pointing dramatically into the crowd with his chubby finger at Mythal.

    "You!"

Mythal didn't get surprised too often but being picked out by a gnome, among an entire crowd of people, was quite shocking. He blinked in wonder, not quite registering the eager-looking man directing all the attention of the marketplace on him. All the eyes around him turned to focus on the God Slayer, each one curious to who was being so loudly noticed. Mythal turned his head to look around, hoping to find someone standing directly behind him that was the real target of the attention. With no one there, he had no other choice but to ask the pitiful question of: "Uh... me?"

"Look at this, folks! We have a bona fide celebrity in the crowd!" The gnome declared, his surprisingly deep voice booming out over the masses. He pumped his hands into the air, doing his best to raise the excitement among the people around the stage. The two elven women behind him were applauding gently, their own shows of enthusiasm far different than their smaller friend. "Everyone; give me a round of applause!"

It started softly, with a few individuals offering spattering of applause. But more joined in quickly, each person apparently getting excited over the prospect of being in the same vicinity as a celebrity. Mythal looked absolutely floored by the attention, looking around at the endless faces in shock and annoyance. He attempted to deflect the focus, managing a half-hearted chuckle. "I think you got the wrong guy, pal..." He started, building up to a solid protest.

"Nonsense!" The gnome shattered his attempts easily. "I recognize famous wizards when I see them. Come on up here; we need to present you to the crowd before our show!" He bellowed, still trying to hype up the crowd with him. He was doing his best to trap Mythal with overwhelming focus -- and was succeeding.

This was Hell. This was worse than Hell. He was flabbergasted; completely and utterly floored to the ground. How did this person know who he was? He had been very careful about giving his name to people; only revealing his personal information to officials up to that point. And even when he did, he didn't stay around for very long for anyone to ask questions. He'd learned his lesson in the past with that. The only place had had hung around was Fairy Tail. Had they put out some kind of notice of a new member? Were they trying to celebrate his invitation and inclusion into the guild? That was the last thing he wanted; if they had been planning to do that, he may have thought twice about joining so quickly. He ground his teeth behind the tight line of his mouth. The sound of the people cheering around him was grating and frustrating along with the possibility of his guild having outed him.

But if he tried to leave, they would stop him. He had heard how celebrities were treated when they tried to leave after being focused on. Crowds following, pictures snapping; that would be just as bad. Plus there was no guarantee he could even push through the crowd. He could try to use his magic but... that may make things even worse. He had no other option but to go up on stage and... do what? What was he supposed to do or say when he got up there? This was about the worst thing that had happened to him in recent memory. He glanced around, still partially hoping to find an opening in the audience. But they had him surrounded, clapping and hooting and hollering. Would he be arrested for punting this gnome jerk for causing this mess to him?

Probably. His head dropped and he let out a soft sigh, muted against the cheers of the crowd. Better to get this over with sooner rather than later. Maybe he would get lucky and they would simply introduce him and then scoot him off stage so they could perform.

But his luck never went that smoothly.

I've been out there and seen the things she's made

Mythal walked up to the stage slowly, a miserable wretch among the oblivious and cheerful audience. As he stopped before the wooden platform, the gnome ran over to offer his hand and help him up. The God Slayer declined the offer by simply stepping up onto the stage, ignoring the gesture in lieu of being moody. The gnome looked back at him and then simply shrugged, unperturbed by the dismissal. It wasn't important anyhow. It was what came next that mattered the most to him.

"Ladies and gentlemen! Another round of applause," he roared to the crowd, his invigorating words calling out to the moving masses. A loud, combined cheer came reverberating at them, causing Mythal to wince and groan softly. The gnome didn't seem to notice as he gestured to one of the workers from before, asking for something silently. From the man's shirt came a voice lacrima, meant to act as a microphone for the gnome and anyone else that wanted to use it. It was a blue, crystal cylinder with a receiver on its top. The gnome snatched it and held it up like a symbolic torch, summoning another squall of noise from those watching.

"Now then, come here friend!" He called out to Mythal, waving at him to join him at the front of the stage. The God Slayer looked utterly disgusted by the show of it but, with no other option, walked up and planted himself next to the smaller man. His short, smiling face was making the Fairy Tail wizard seriously consider hitting him with something.

"Here, speak into the mic and tell us your name," the gnome spoke first into the lacrima, his voice projected ever further than before. He tapped the top of it and then held it up, the tip barely reaching up to Mythal's chest.

The God Slayer sighed and bent down a bit, his mouth mere inches away from the receiver. He was prepared to speak when he paused. Why was the gnome asking him to speak his name? Hadn't this guy recognized him? In fact, he hadn't described him or defined him in any fashion beyond being a 'celebrity'. Did he not know Mythal's name after all? But that meant... "Wait..."

That's all it took. The voice lacrima began to glow bright, a pale blue light that was blinding to all nearby it. Mythal took a step back, covering his eyes with his hands as the light grew brighter. All he could hear was the gnome's cackling laughter before the world around him began to rumble and shake. The ground beneath the platform and the crowd began to twist and bend every which way, cracks tearing through the once-smooth floor.  As the ground began to rise, the scared screams of the crowd tore through the air. The citizens parted and ran every which way, climbing and clamoring over one another in a desperate bid to escape.

From the ground right before the stage emerged a round structure, punching through the cement and spraying rocky shrapnel all over the market. There were dark brown spiral markings all along the sides of the structure, twisting around the walls and disappearing underneath the ground. Upon its top was a heavy metal trapdoor, barring entry to the inside of the strange place. As the rising tower came to a stop only ten or so feet above the ground, there was a loud and audible smash -- like a heavy lock sliding into place.

Mythal rubbed his eyes to clear away the spots and then opened them again, taking in the sight of the building. Movement caught his eye and once more he spotted the gnome, scampering onto the top of the structure with the two elven women. The short creature cast a look back at him as the two women opened up the trap door and dove inside. Then after a single wave of thanks, he dove into the building as well.

Mythal was steamed. Not only had this small bastard embarrassed him by calling him out and dragging him up on stage, but it had all been a front. They had used him to summon forth this... building thing from the ground and then escaped inside of it. The God Slayer's hands curled into tight fists and his gaze seemed to simmer at the very thought of the treachery. And they had done so in the middle of Magnolia, around innocent people who were just here to enjoy themselves. They had come here in hopes of finding some leisure and perhaps buying some things for themselves and their loved ones.

This was why Mythal hated humans; they pulled these kinds of stunts all the time. Yet this had been enacted by a gnome-looking person and his two elven cohorts. For once, he couldn't blame humans for this kind of treachery. Humanity got off the hook -- for today, at least.

He leapt down off the stage and marched towards the building, moving with purpose. He only halted his trek when he spotted a young woman with her daughter, pinned underneath some heavy chunks of stone. The mother had been pinned by the wreckage, trapping her leg under the rubble. Her daughter was crying, trying to pull on her mother's arm while the older tried to get her to run away. It was a heartbreaking scene, even to one as critical as Mythal. He moved over to the pair and grabbed a hold of the stones, preying them off the woman swiftly. Once he had loosened the pile enough, he helped her retrieve her leg from underneath it. It was certainly broken by the look of it, so Mythal helped her hobble away from the building and set her on one of the last standing market stands. Once the police came, they'd be able to help her get some help.

But Mythal had questions he wanted answered. And that meant going into the building.

Going on top of the tower and using the trap door would have been much cleaner. But climbing up was too much of a hassle for someone as annoyed as Mythal. His fist slammed into the outer wall of the structure, his hand easily punching through the stone as easy as water would tear through paper. The once-polished marble broke inwards and fell apart, opening up a hole large enough for Mythal to walk into. The God Slayer stepped into the opening and looked downwards, only to find an endless dark void looking back up at him. So this thing was a lot deeper than it looked from the outside; like an upside down tower in a way. Had it always been buried under Magnolia, just waiting for some poor idiot to summon it to the surface? Or had the lacrima caused it to materialize here and break through the ground? And why had his voice been the means to do such a thing?

All questions he planned on beating out of the midget once he caught up to him. Mythal stepped off the edge and immediately fell into the thick darkness within. The air rushing past him and the comfortable dark did little to calm his anger, his crimson eyes staring daggers into the bleak void below him. In it he saw a speck of color; a light from a fast approaching floor below. The darkness melted away swiftly as the hallway rushed up to meet him. Mythal landed with such force that it shook the entire structure, the ground fracturing underneath his feet. He'd landed in a crouch, his fists pressed against the gray tiles of the floor.

    The hunt had begun.

The Tower of Rodgers Empty Re: The Tower of Rodgers

Post by Mythal Ragnos 28th November 2018, 9:43 pm

I've been out there and seen the things she's made

"Welcome to the Tower of Rodger, my dear fellow!" The voice echoed out from down the tunnel towards him, its source seemingly invisible to the naked eye. It was the voice of the gnome. "I must thank you for being so kind and summoning it for us. Truly, you are a gentleman and a scholar!" Mythal looked down the hall as he rose to his feet, his eyes narrowed cautiously. His nostrils expanded and he took a few heavy sniffs, inhaling the frigid and dry air of the structure. No; the source of the voice wasn't down the way from here -- at least not directly. He had been at one point; his scent was just barely clinging to the dead air but it was fading quickly. Plus the sound of the man's voice was echoing strangely; it seemed like it was meant to sound like he was down the hall but it almost sounded like it was coming from some kind of audio device, similar to the supposed voice lacrima.

Ah, a telepathic message. So he was still trying to deceive him by using telepathy. Bad move; that would only serve to make Mythal angrier. He began to walk down the hall, his gait as purposeful as it was above. As he went, the voice continued to speak to him in his mind. "I'm sure you're wondering a lot of things but don't worry -- it was nothing personal! You see, you're the guy that beat up some of my comrades near the Ace of Spades. You know them; they were looking for Gold Rodger's tomb. And if you hadn't gotten involved, they would have gotten it too. Then we would have been able to summon this tower in our own time. You see, whoever holds that stone that was in his coffin is capable of bringing forth the Tower of Rodger. Now you see why we needed you!"

"But that's all we needed for you, I'm afraid. So be a doll and die for me, would you?"

There was a definitive pause of silence after the gnome's near-demand, as if he was expecting Mythal to retort. The God Slayer didn't say a thing; he continued forward without pause or break in his speed or movement. This wasn't some story book hero versus villain scenario; there wasn't going to be a back and forth banter that escalated up until they had a grand battle. No, Mythal planned on skipping past all the verbal bullcrap and getting right to the battling part. This bastard had said enough above when they were on the stage; he didn't need to give him any satisfaction by cursing his name or damning his deeds. His fists would do the talking.

"The strong, quiet type are we?" The annoying midget spoke up after an all-too-satisfying lapse of quiet time. "I'm afraid it doesn't matter much. I've been studying this Tower for years; I've learned all its secrets and know all the pitfalls. While you, poor idiot, stumbled upon this situation like a virgin to an orgy," the gnome taunted him from afar, cackling at his own perceived cleverness.

Mythal still didn't say anything, continuing his march forward. It was only a few yards after that when he stepped down and felt the ground depress, his foot activating a trap button. He leapt backwards immediately, just in time to dodge the first set of arrows that zipped through the air right where he had been standing. A solid ten of the flying ammunition crashed into the side wall, splintering and falling to the ground uselessly. His eyes snapped over to the source of the attack; a stone statue that looked like a mix between a dragon, a lion and a human. In his hands was a long staff with a flickering lantern on its head. Carved stone wings thrust out from the shoulders, which were ordained with glimmering jewelry to match his other garments. His mouth was sealed but his eyes were open, revealing two small cylinders that must have been the source of the arrows.

And what was worse was that the statue was moving to focus once more on him.

A statue that could hone in on him; that was exactly what he needed in his life. Mythal sneered and charged forward, rushing the statue. As he came upon it, he heard the unmistakable sound of gears clicking into place. The instant the arrows exploded out from the eyes, Mythal was disappearing into his own shadow, seemingly melting into the ground. The arrows once again cracked against the stone surroundings, bouncing uselessly against the floor. As the statue tried to process what to do next, the God Slayer appeared out of the shadows cast on the wall by the flickering torch it held. His hand slid through the air and then through the stone, his knife edge ripping through the statue's neck as if it were flesh.

The head bounced away and rolled onto its face, silent and disarmed after being divorced from its body. Mythal landed on the ground next to the defeated statue's body, shooting a glare in its general direction before he turned his back to it and continued forward. He could see the end of the hallway now; the long path breaking into a fork that separated in opposing directions. He stopped right at the divide, glancing down each path with a stern and questioning glare. No matter which path he picked, he was bound to run into more traps. The midget had been bragging about knowing of all the tricks; one didn't just say that if there was a single one.

So it really didn't matter which way he went; so he flipped a mental coin and chose the right path.

He was right; it wasn't going to matter which path he went down, he was going to run into problems. The right path opened up into a larger room that looked completely different from what he had seen thus far. There were columns on either side rising practically to the ceiling and on each one was a disfigured and snarling gargoyle statue. They stared down at the ground with unseen eyes, though their heads seemed to be tilted towards the entryway that Mythal had come in through. He looked up at each one as he moved forward, his body already on guard. The air didn't smell right in here and he felt like something was off. A room inside an underground tower filled with gargoyles? It practically screamed trap room.

And of course he wasn't wrong; as soon as he reached the middle of the room, he heard the stone cracking from the columns around him. He looked up and could see nearly half a dozen of the ugly creatures breaking free from their stony holds, shaking off the rock flakes and hissing furiously. It just couldn't be easy, could it?

The first gargoyle dove from his left, screeching as it did so. Mythal dodged to the side of it, just barely ducking the wing as it ripped through the air above him. Another came in from the other side, its sharp talons aimed for his back. And he could hear another coming down near his front. His magic surged into his hands, the black veins popping up on his flesh and he smashed his palm into the first one's face, the force of the attack and the speed of its dive causing equal amounts of damage. Mythal then turned and stepped back, lifting his other hand up in a rising palm strike that caught the other gargoyle in the throat and silenced its war cry in a snap. Both fell to the ground, twitching in agony.

    Two down.

Mythal wasn't out of the woods yet but he was, at the very least, in the advantage. The other three gargoyles hovered in the air above him, their heavy wings flapping loudly as they stared down at their two fallen comrades. Their sharp gazes then turned to the God Slayer, still standing in a ready position and meeting their glares with equal force. Each one joined the other in another screech and the trio divedombed him, now intending to take him out all together. But they hadn't anticipated that doing so would cause them to crash into one another too and as they descended, they were forced to separate and ease up so one could take the lead. And that was where their opening was. His dark magic evened out within his body, pooling into his legs and arms with similar strength. As the first gargoyle came in, Mythal launched his foot up to meet it, slamming his heel into its jaw and sending it spiraling away. He spun through the air and lashed out with his fist at the next one, clocking it in the temple and making it fly just as wildly as its brother.

He caught himself on the ground with both hands, looking like a perfectly undefended prey for the last gargoyle. It's claws snapped out but just missed the God Slayer as he melted into the ground, absorbed into his own shadow. But he quickly reemerged from the one that gargoyle cast, his knife edge slamming into its neck with such force that the creature was sent crashing into the wall. Mythal didn't pause to check if it was defeated or not; he turned and sprinted back towards the other two, each one having landed close to the other. As each one struggled to get back up, the God Slayer came falling in, both fists at the ready. They slammed into each of the creature's chest, forcing them into the ground. The force of the attack tore the ground asunder and broke it apart, opening up a hole downwards and to lower levels of the tower.

The Tower of Rodgers Empty Re: The Tower of Rodgers

Post by Mythal Ragnos 28th November 2018, 11:29 pm

I've been out there and seen the things she's made

Mythal free fell through the air, holding his arms out to the sides to ease his speed. The ground was much farther down than he had first anticipated and honestly, he wasn't sure he could land it safely. His eyes focused on one of the gargoyles falling directly in front of him, the creature limp from unconsciousness. The God Slayer brought his legs and arms close together and eased his body forward, increasing his descent. He was quickly able to catch up to the creature, grabbing ahold of its wings and turning it around so its belly was to the fast approaching ground. He grabbed the musculature of the wings and held them out, creating a resistance that jerked the creature up and dramatically eased the fall. And then, right before they crashed, Mythal pushed off the creature's back and leapt backwards, putting all the falling force on it and easing his.

Mythal backflipped through the air and landed on the soggy, slick ground of the new floor. He backpedaled a few more steps as the debris he had created came crashing down behind him, kicking up stone dust. He stood there for a moment, watching the cloud of dust billow and swirl before finally starting to disperse. Then a throaty roar caught his attention, his eyes once again narrowing. From the dissaray emerged a Minotaur, bellowing loudly and slamming its flaming mace against its mighty shield. Mythal also caught sight of a second one that... had been buried underneath the falling rubble. Only its horns and face stuck out, clearly defeated upon impact.

The Minotaur met his gaze, as if asking for answers for his sudden appearance. Mythal simply shrugged. That incensed the beast more and it charged, swinging its mace around in preparation. The God Slayer held his ground until the last possible moment and then dove into the ground once more, merging with the shadows just as the mace swung through the air at him. He popped out from behind the creature and leapt up, slamming his hand against it's neck with all the force he could muster. The creature roared and spun around, its mace leading the charge. Mythal was forced to leap over it and slam his foot into the creature's hand, his magic bolstering his strength enough to break hits thumb.

The monster screeched and stumbled backwards, unable to hold its weapon now. But it was not defeated yet; it rushed forward after a moment, thrusting at Mythal with the flat end of its shield. Mythal held his arm up to defend against it but was knocked backwards, flipping tail over head before slamming into the ground. He groaned and hissed between his teeth as he felt the Minotaur's cloven steps bounding towards him. He leapt up and met the creature instantly, planting his magic-infused palms into its body at, what he hoped were, focal points for blood flow. He then slammed his fist against its gut and brought his foot up to smash against its chin.

The creature stumbled backwards, dazed and agonized. Mythal rushed at it and then dropped into a slide, easily sailing across the slick ground between the monster's legs. He slammed his heel into the floor and popped up right at the mace. His hand was engulfed in the shadow gauntlet of his Fallen God just as he reached out and took it between his fingers. And then as each fighter spun around, the Minotaur was met with the blunt force of its own mace, snapping its head to the side with such strength that a sickening crack echoed throughout the room. Then it fell to the ground, unmoving.

Mythal tossed the mace away, cursing it as he did so. The magic had blocked most of the hell flames but it still had burned his skin slightly. He flexed the hand to ease the pain and finally took in the room he had fallen into. It seemed to be the central hub of the tower, with the only exit being a long staircase that led upwards. But on the opposite side was a tall pillar, glowing with an ominous light. After taking a moment to look around and ensure he wasn't about to get attacked again, he turned and headed towards the pillar.

His senses told him he could relax, even as he stepped up to the supernatural structure. It wasn't anything grand beyond giving off a glow, save for a single space that seemed to have been intentionally hollowed out. He cocked his head and hummed in wonder. He pulled the knapsack forward that had been slung tight against his side, the same one he had taken from Rodger's tomb. He flipped it open and reached inside, his fingers finding the orb resting at the bottom. He brought it up to the light, looking it over once more and then comparing it against the hole.

"Eh, what the hell?" he asked to no one in particular. He turned his hand and thrust the orb into the hole, the stone fitting snug and perfect. The pillar began to hum loudly and glow even brighter, causing the God Slayer to take a few steps back. Just as it got too much to handle, it suddenly dissipated in a literal flash. As Mythal focused his eyes again, he was met with the sight of a ring hovering in the air directly in front of him. It wasn't an extravagant piece of jewelry, looking more comely than grandiose but it was still pretty in its own right. And what was more is he could feel the magical power radiating off of it. Had this been what the gnome and elven women were looking for?

Speaking of which, where had they gone? The midget had stopped talking to him shortly before he ran into the traps. He sniffed the air but found no scent resembling the one he'd picked up before. Had they run for it? Or maybe these Minotaurs had made quick and painful work of them. In either case, it seemed they were gone and the prize they were after left. He reached out and took the ring gently between his fingers. But instead of him pulling it down, it yanked him into the air and held him there, the God Slayer hovering. He glanced down at the ground, then at the ring, once more at the ground and finally finishing on the ornament once more.

    "Well, how 'bout that?"
