Whose the real King of Beasts(Solo Mission)

Her targets were still the lionesses. Once they were defeated she could focus entirely on her extraction of information from the king of beasts. They had not yet made a move against her and she floated there looking down at them thinking to herself. The remaining six enemies all possessed a different element and not one of them was darkness. Was that one element all they were capable of? That she did not know. Fire, Water, Lightning, Earth, Ice and Wind. It was all so familiar. She wondered if they had done it on purpose. Each one of these possessed an ability that one of the priests of the dreamscape had used. The only oddities was that water and ice were seperate and there was no light. Light was her weakness, the one thing that could really bring her down. She glanced upwards at the king of beasts demon who just stood there silent, a monolith of demonic power. Could he be a light user? If so that made him even more deadly. She'd need everything she could use in order to defeat him. Therefore she couldn't risk using her lineage power or hell incarnate yet. Nor did she want to use any of her more powerful spells.

"In a real battle you would not be given time to think, but we know that in a real battle you would be capable of making time to think." the large demon said and Naraku nodded. She'd been curious as to why they weren't attacking. They were conserving energy for whatever plan she came up with. It was true that in a battle she wouldn't have time to think, but with shadow camouflague and a few other tricks she could easily make that time. What was the wisest move? The one that had hit her and done damage, the fire demon. He'd damaged the robe, but it was easily fixable with enough magic power focused on it. The fire was the weakest of them, the one she had hit the hardest. She hadn't been paying as much attention to her as she'd done so much damage. However, she knew now this was a mistake.

"Your bodies mean nothing to you except as hosts. You can still use your full power." Naraku mused getting a growl of acknowledgement from the king. That meant in order to destroy these beasts she had to do enough damage to the demonic spirit within the beasts. That was the only way to defeat them. Her scythe by itself would be of no use. It was the darkness magic that encompassed it that had done the damage. The scythe would be useful for defense though. It was better than nothing and besides it still had one trick left.

Naraku decided the best way to proceed would be to eliminate these as swiftly as possible. Hopefully then the king would reveal some more secrets before she took him down. It was the only way forward, but how best to take these down without using too much power. 6 of them remained and they were quite spread out, but not enough to stop her. She licked her lips and dropped to the ground slipping a needle of shadow into her cleavage as she did so. The motion was not obvious and considering her mother had never taught her to use it like that it was unlikely these demons knew of it either. Unless they had been spying on her, but she doubted that. Probably one of the keepsakes of her mother that she wore had triggered the effect when she activated Hell Incarnate for the first time. That made more sense. If it was not that and they had been spying on her then they were going easy on her and that pissed her off.

As she hit the ground from her sleeves erupted a tendril of shadow 20ft long, from each of these two tendrils a further four sprouted. The five tendrils on each side would strike out at the opponents aiming to bind them and crush them. It required little power and if it was effective then she could take her time finishing them off. Even if it failed the distraction it provided should stop them hitting her two hard. And if it succeeded she could torture them a little before she broke them.

Unfortunately, she did only succeed in binding one, but it did stop the beasts launching multiple attacks at her. They only launched one each and only two of these hit. The first was a water blast which actually soothed her burns a bit even if it did increase the depth of the cut. The second was a wind blade which cut her leg. That was irritating as it slowed her non-flying movement. Fortunately though she could fly and merely rose into the air slightly. The other attacks she blocked with relative ease. It was irksome that her opponents surrounded her so. It made things difficult.

The one that she had successfully hit was the fire user. She held the beast up to her face and kissed it on the forehead before crushing it. The slayer based magic was enough to finish it off. She grinned. This was a lot more fun. Demons could at least comprehend her torture. The rest of the tendrils she retracted for now. They would be useful tools to surprise attack her opponent. In fact, she kept two out. The two she had originally sent out from her sleeves. They were like giant whips attached to her arms. Such a useful set of whips too.

The remaining ones around her numbered five. Not a massive number, but not a small number either. She wished she'd successfully bound more of them, but ending one was enough. She retracted the two other tendrils. They were not needed just yet. They would be used in her series of attacks, but first she needed to do something else. Something more interesting and thus more fun for her. The hell's torture technique was fun that was certain. She could slowly crush an opponent and watch the blood spew out of them or crush them swiftly and see their bodies explode. Both were entertaining, but if she used it too much she might get reliant and reliance on any tool was foolish. Plus the entertainment value of something dropped if used too often.

Instead she ran straight at one of the demon's, well flew, and as she got close bit down three times forming a jaw of darkness that bit down three times as well. It was a useful ability. She did not even stop to see if it was effective, but quickly turned her gaze to another and fired off beams of darkness from her eyes aiming to sever it through the arm. Not that it was necessary, but these demons did seem to feel the pain their body would feel and that entertained her greatly.

Her fangs had little effect. Only one of the three bites hit. It ripped off an arm causing the demon to roar in pain, but it wasn't enough. Its screams were not enough. The one she'd gazed at blocked it with a wall of ice. Irritating, but not unexpected. What they didn't expect it seemed were the tendrils that suddenly shot out from various shadowy places on her body. This time she succeeded in binding four of them, one of which she crushed instantly. The other three she kept bound and crushed them slightly causing them to squeal in agony. Much more satisfying

The ice one was the only one that escaped her within this round of attacks and it shot several shards of ice which cut into her. Her body was getting more and more cut. It wasn't good, but now she had three opponents bound and one free things were a lot easier. She retracted all of the tendrils except the three she was using to bind this one and smiled. They would likely break free of the tendrils soon enough, but they would have got some damage. Things were going her way at last. Not that they hadn't been before, but not it was more so. Things were finally fun.

The beasts struggled against the bonds and two of them managed to shatter the tendrils. It was an annoyance to say the least, but she managed to strike out swiftly with the eight remaining tendrils. Two of these struck the beasts, before they managed to hit the ground and the third blasted the ice demon back. The damage was enough to throw one of its two attack off course and the other she blocked with ease. As one beast was still bound she constricted the tendrils to crush it slightly. It was not much, but it was still enough to cause some damage. All of her opponents were weakened heavily, but she was also a bit weak. She had a few tricks up her sleeve and a lot of magic energy left.

"You have earned the right for a bit more of the truth." the voice of the king demon boomed once more. "Your mother took you because she sensed great magical power within you. Power she wanted for herself?" Naraku heard these words and in surprise crushed the beast a bit more. It was still alive, but just barely. The tendrils faded into non-existence their time limit was spent, but they had done her proud with the amount of damage she had done. So her mother had wanted her because of her magic power. It was true she had quite a large magic pool, but she assumed it was purely from her training in hell and her magic. It seemed that was not true. But why had her mother wanted her power? Purely because she was envy? No, there was some purpose she was sure of it. Memories stirred up in her mind, but none she was sure about. Then she had an idea. Why train someone to be a demon slayer? To slay demons. As an elder demon few posed a threat to her, but six others did.

"Like D'Nalsta she seeks the destruction of the other elder demons of sin." she stated quietly, but apparently the hearing of the king was good because he growled in affirmation. She had a lot more information than she expected to get, but there was more she needed to know. She had met an embodiment of Anastacia, the demon of greed, but had not met the others. She wanted to know about them, but more importantly she wanted to know about her real family, her blood family. Would this demon know the answer? There was also the matter of her reverting to the childlike form. Why had that happened? She needed answers and this demon was going to give them to her.

Why would her mother seek the destruction of her brethren? Was she just envious of their power and wanted it for herself or was there more to it? There had to be. D'Nalsta also seeked their destruction and it seemed Greybone(Wrath) and Anastacia(Greed) also wanted to wipe out all the others. The question was why. There seemed no logic behind it. She needed to find out the answer. The only way to do that was to snuff out the light of life from these demons. Not that she had a problem with that though. 

Once more her scythe's edge became charged with dark energy and she lunged at her opponents her scythe swinging. All four of the beasts shot off beams of their element at her. Lightning, Water, Wind and Ice. A powerful set of attacks, but Naraku had finally found the rhythm of their attacks, or at least it seemed that way, so they were easily blocked. However, much to her chagrin they also managed to block her magic enhanced slashes with barriers of their various elements. Neither her nor the demons had done damage to eachother, not even a fraction. That was how good both sides were. 

As long as she attacked them head on there was little chance of her succeeding. She needed some sort of distraction or some other way of lowering their defenses. The question was how. The obvious answer was to use her Hell Queen's Doubles spell in order to give her the two extra helpers. As they were composed of her magic their scythes, whilst weaker and not charged like hers, would do a lot of damage. However, it was a powerful spell and she was trying to hold off on using too many of those yet. She bit her lip slightly. There had to be a way without resorting to her best spells. Then she had an idea. It might work or it might not, but there was only one way to find out. 

"You guys are much more fun then the original owners of those bodies." Naraku commented with a grin and a lick of her lips. This was going to be interesting.

The scythe would be her primary form of attack, but with it she would use something else. Something to keep her enemies on their toes, keep them distracted, and let their guards open so she could strike. It would be difficult, but not impossible. Nothing was impossible apart from her becoming some sort of goody two shoes. She lunged forward once more her scythe swinging. She was now strong enough to wield it effectively one handed which was idea for what she was about to do. "Spike Storm: Rapid Fire" with a quick whip like motion of her free hand she launched a spray of 100 needles. How many hit did not really matter, but hopefully enough would hit to do some damage or at least break some barriers. On top of that it also kept them distracted and stopped them launching a proper bombardment of spells at her. 

Of the one hundred needles that were launched thirty were accurate enough and surprising enough to pierce the enemies. It wasn't much, but as they were anti-demon weapons the damage was enhanced enough to do some serious damage. It caused three of the demons to fall. The only one left now was the ice demon who in the shock of seeing his brethren so easily defeated was hit by her scythe doing some major damage. Not quite enough to kill, but enough to weaken it severely. The death of the demons and the scythe strike on this last one had been swift enough to prevent their attacks. Naraku was back on form it seemed. She sighed as the darkness fell from her scythe and she retreated away from the ice demon. 

This final opponent should not be too difficult. The body was heavily injured and judging by its scent and comparing it to the others she had killed it was very close to death. Very close indeed. Now all she had to do was finish it off and then she could focus on the real threat to her. The demon that possessed the king of beasts. It was large and probably slow, but still a difficult opponent. Its size would mean it would require a lot of power to bring down.

What things could this beast of an opponent tell her that the item he would drop at his death would not? Was it important? Was it useful? There was only one way to find out. She would have to listen to what he had to say and once that was said she would defeat him and gain the rest of the information. It was the only way to find out the truth of her past.

"You defeated my 9 brothers and sisters and you did it with such grace and ease, but only because you were given time to think." the demon said causing her to growl in annoyance. The truth often hurt and this was true in this case. Yes, it was true that the truth hurt and in this case annoyed. "You must learn to think whilst you fight more. You are capable of it, but you do not use it often enough. You are too wild." Again Naraku growled. This was another truth and one that hurt more. It was true. She did often try to hide and think rather than thinking whilst fighting, analysing an opponent by battling them and finding weaknesses. "But that is not the truth I was ordered to speak of to you. It is just something you ought to know." So he wasn't ordered to say such things. He said it of his own free will. The question was why and she thought she knew the answer. To anger her and make her make mistakes. It was a common demonic trick and it was working.

"Your mother as I have told you was the demon of envy and took you as a child to use as a weapon against the other demons of sin." he summarized. She did not need to know information she had already been told. That annoyed her. However, the next snippet of information was much more interesting.  "Each of the elder demons is immensely powerful and you only defeated Wrath because D'Nalsta was distracting him by trying to break into the realm. Each of them is easily the equal of your races so called S rank wizards and some, such as Pride, are probably the equal of a H rank, if not greater." Yes. It was very intersting. So some of the demons of sin were stronger than others. Some would be incredibly hard to bring down. Those ones which were equal to H rank were insane. Getting that much power would be incredibly difficult, but she had to bring them down somehow. "The elder demons of sin are constantly at war and that war escalated when Lady Mania fell and moreso when Lord Greybone fell. The demons realised there was a legitimate threat to them and are now consolidating their strength. Despite Pride's power he is only that strong within his own realm or in the human realm. If he invaded another realm he would be risking himself. He has pride, but he is no fool. The realm of Wrath is now under Lord D'Nalsta's rule and he is now as strong there as in his own realm, but the realm of Envy is under the rule of Greed." This raised only one question for her. Or one that was of any importance in her mind. It would let her understand her opponents more. That would be necessary to defeat them


"Why are they at war?" Naraku asked not expecting an answer, but to her surprise he gave one.


"The one who can defeat all the other elder demons of sin will be granted the power of a higher rank even than elder. I cannot tell you anymore than that."

Naraku knew instinctively that unless she went all out with her slayer powers she would not be able to defeat this demon. She also knew if she wanted to beat him without relying on her blood. If she had to use her Glory of the Slayer ability then she was not strong enough. It was a last resort and this opponent was a demon. They shouldn't be strong enough to force her hand that far. She focused and her eyes once more clouded over blood red, the aura of darkness cloaked her body and her hair became spikier. She had become Hell Incarnate or at least that was the name of the spell and according to the demons it was what had drawn them out to face her. The claws on her hand extended slightly as their power boosted. Excellent. This would be a lot easier now. Dark energy flowed round her legs forming bladed, clawed, boots. The hell greaves. The leg based version of her demon claws. A long prehensile tail forked like a trident formed from the base of her spin and two blades of darkness formed at the elbow. She was in full attacking move now. She planned to go completely physical for now and save her powerhouse attacks like the Howl for later. 


She lunged at the beast, straight at his chest and launched a flurry of attacks using all of her body enhancements, claws, tail, greaves and fins. However, the demon barely even moved and a barrier formed. It was a strong barrier. Much stronger than the others had produced, but it was not composed of light. No this one was composed of earth. It was not enough to stop her however and give of her attacks struck him. Even those that were blocked managed to push him back slightly such was her strength, particularly in this enhanced form. 


The beast king swung out his massive fists at her but she dodged them nimbly and with grace. She was really in her element now. Fighting a target superior to her in strength, a desperate struggle to gain information. Her only real advantage was speed and fury. These were tools she would use to destroy this opponent.

Naraku spat out blood as she rose to her feet unsteadily. Those blows had really taken it out of her. She focused and formed the Hell Queen's Armor once more. A single attack from him would shatter it but it would protect her from some of the damage at least. She also formed a kite shield on one arm: The hell queen's aegis. It was an extra defensive technique. Hopefully they would be enough. 

She flew at the beast once more. However, now she showed no sign of the damage she had received. She showed no fatigue and no disorientation. She had activated her lineage. The glory of the slayer. It was an added physical boost that would hopefully give her enough of an edge to win this battle. "Final round. Fight!" Naraku shouted as she flew at him. This time she hoped to end him. There was no time to ask questions anymore. It was kill or be killed and she refused to be killed so he had to die quickly. It would take all her might to do so, but in this state she was faster and stronger. It was possible she might succeded.

This time he threw up a barrier of fire, but in her berserk state it meant nothing to her and was quickly beaten down. A water barrier took its place putting out the fires on her clothing, but it still didn't stop her. Electricity soon followed but despite the pain she kept going. Fire, Ice, wind Water, Earth, Electricity. All of them had been used against her, but it did not stop her fury. Each time she drew blood her own blood enhanced the damage slightly. It was enough that after these attacks, despite all of her weapons fading the demon fell to his knees. She still had her armour and her incarnate and also her glory form. She let out a roar and flew above him, which narrowly avoided the one attack that would of been instant death for her. Two massive beams of light which shot from the eyes. She flew above him and looked down as she enhaled absorbing all of the darkness, not only from things like shadows, but from his own dark aura.

"HELL DEMON'S HOWL!." she roared launching the massive beam of energy. In his weakened state and with all her enhancements this was enough to turn him to atoms. Why? Because her abilties were anti-demon. Her Hell Incarnate boosted all its attributes by 60% including its anti-demon properties and her glory enhanced the power further. The normally 200ft long beam became 320ft, the 10ft radius became 16ft and if it was classified it would be easily A rank. However, with the opponent being a demon and it having anti demon properties it was like an S rank spell. He was vaporized in a pillar of black light laced with white. The screams and laughter of the demon mixed making an eerie sound which she found rather tantalizing. It was beautiful to her. 

When the attack finished she flew down to the ground where a large crater had formed from the attack. All of her armor and her incarnate fell away. Her lineage vanished too now there were no enemies anywhere near to use it on. She fell to her knees. Nothing had appeared. Had this all been for nothing?

It was then that a rip in the fabric of space and time opened and from it dropped a small box. It fell into the crater and then the rip sealed once more. Without a moment's thought she slid down into the crater, which was made of glass so great was the heat of her attack, and lifted up the box. She was exhausted, but not exhausted enough. She saw no lock on the box, but no hinges either. This did not bother her because she knew how to open such a box. She held the box on one hand and traced a line down the center on the top focusing her magic and then spoke the words. "All hail the hell queen." However, she did not speak these in the common tongue, but in the tongue of demons. As she said this a thin crack appeared in the top from which seeped a dark light. A moment later the lid vanished after glowing bright black. How she knew how to open it she did not know. She just did. Perhaps by instinct or perhaps a memory had been triggered and she didn't realise. When she saw what was in the box she fell to her knees and stared at it tears forming in her eyes.

It was a choker that she recognised oh so well. It was carved from one of her mother's claws, which fell off periodically and were regrown sharper and stronger. Set in the center as ornamentation was a blood red gem in the shape of a skull. This was a present her mother had given her once, long ago. She had not even remembered it until she saw it now. The memory of it being given stirred up inside her and she had an incredible urge to put it on, so she did so. As soon as she did she felt a surge of energy flow through her body and felt all of her wounds fix themselves. Her magic pool was fully recovered. She was confused by this. That was not a power of this necklace. Hell Demon's could not perform healing spells. Darkness just wasn't suited for it. However, she did not ponder long as another surge went through her and a dome of darkness formed around her. She did not see much of this though because she instantly went into a trance like state and a figure appeared in front of her.

In the trance like state she saw nothing but darkness for a while despite her natural night vision. However, after a few moments the air in front of her began to shimmer and a figure materialised. It was the figure of a woman Naraku recognised. A tall woman with long silver hair and crimson eyes. A beautiful woman who would not look out of place in high society if it were not for the intricate tattoos that were visible on her face and hands. If the woman had been naked rather than clothed in formal feudal japanese attire the tattoos would be seen all over the body. This was the elder demon of Envy, the Hell Queen Mania or more importantly her mother. 

"I took you because you alone of the entire human race had the potential to not only be a demon slayer, but a Hell Demon Slayer. The ultimate demon slayer able to slay demons of any element not just their own or their opposite. Yet not only did you have potential as a weapon you had potential to become the next Hell Queen, to rule over my realm when I became a Grand Elder Demon." That was what the woman said, but her lips did not move. It was as if the thoughts were projected directly into her mind. "Unfortunately you grew far swifter in power than I anticipated and began to surpass even me. But it was not out of fear of your power that I did what I did. It was out of love for you. I did not want to lose you. I did not want you to leave me. So I did something that would allow you to remain with me for longer. I reverted you to the child like form you wore for such a long time."


So it was her mother who had turned her into a child and out of reasons of love rather than any dastardly plan. However, Naraku knew she had left the Envy realm immediately after because her mother had died. She had thought that she was the one who killed her, but in her child like form how could that be possible?

"The process of transforming you went almost perfectly, but there was a factor I did not anticipate. Your magic power was so great at that point, and your skill as well, that you lashed out in fear and anger as I performed the spell. Alone it wouldn't of been enough to defeat me, you help back aiming to merely stop me, but the compression of your magic power occurred at the same time as you launched your spell. The compression focused it and it destroyed my physical body leaving nothing but a spirit."


Naraku said nothing. She was not capable of it in her trance state, but she had one major question now. If it had only destroyed the physical body why had she not found another? Why had her realm been taken over by the Lady of Avarice Anastacia.

"I knew I had little time. When my body was destroyed most of my powers went with it. My realm would be invaded. There was no way to protect it or you and in your childlike form you would of been destroyed or corrupted to their side, which happened anyway."  Naraku knew that she spoke of D'Nalsta. Naraku had been trained and raised by another elder demon of sin. The thing that she had tried to prevent. "I sent you away with fluffy and a few other tools. Some I kept hidden, such as the haori you now wear so well. Then I encased what little of my spirit remained in the choker that was not suitable for you until you reached your full growth again. I left it in the hands of some of my demonic warriors. You may have noticed their blue colouring rather than the green of Envy. They were taken over by Greed, but the orders I gave could not be overridden. They had to obey them. If you failed you would of died, but it was a risk I had to take."  So the demons had truly been servants of Greed. No wonder she hadn't recognised them instantly. The mixed scent of greed and envy had confused her. However, it seemed the envy part remained stronger.


"This choker has been imbued with my spirit. It will grant you powers and insight. It will be invaluable in defeating the elders, but you do not have to defeat them. I free you from that burden and will allow you to choose." These words intrigued her. So her mother did want her to defeat the other elders, but was making it her choice. "Do not serve the wills of the others. Do it of your own choice. You are your own person. However, this choker will provide more memories each time you defeat them. It may help you find out your true family. I can make no promises. The choice is yours. Farewell my daughter. I love you."


With those words the darkness around Naraku vanished and the trance like state ended leaving Naraku on her knees with tears in her eyes. She sat there for several minutes crying silently, before rising to her feet and wiping the tears from her eyes. It was time to be strong. She would defeat the elders and find out more. She would make her mother's wish come true and became the Grand Elder demon herself.

It was Naraku was standing there that she realised she had failed this mission. She was meant to bring back a fang or claw to prove she had defeated them, but she had destroyed the body entirely. How could she of been so foolish. However, it seemed luck or something else was on her side because the air shimmered once more and a large fang appeared on the ground. A voice echoed through the air 'This is my last gift to you.' Naraku smiled. Her mother was still watching over her, somehow. She lifted up the fang and crawled out of the hole. It seemed that the trance had lasted longer than she had thought because night was falling. She rose into the air and flew back to the town.

As she walked through the gates she held the fang up high and whispers about her and what they had heard in the distance, or seen, echoed throughout. They were trying to be quiet, but she could hear every word. They feared her power. She had done the task so quickly and seemed uninjured. Her mother's test had done her good. It had improved her reputation and that was ideal.

When she arrived at the chief's hut she placed the fang down and knocked. The chief opened it and stared at her for a moment before dropping to his knees and bowing before her. That was truly surprising.

"You defeated the mighty Simba and his pride of beasts. You defeated them even when they became more than beasts. You are surely the greatest hunter that ever lived." he said and gave her the reward. She grinned and nodded before turning and rising into the air and flying away. Things had gone well for her today, if not exactly how she planned.


Little did Naraku know that the entire battle had been watched. Deep beneath the sand another ball of blue liquid had resided. It had watched everything and now returned back to its mistress in the realm of Greed. It obviously felt that it had seen Naraku's strength enough that its mistress could make plans. Little did it know that it had not even seen a fraction of Naraku's true strength. She would be a lot stronger the next time an elder demon interfered with her personally.
