The whole situation with Bob the dream demon was very confusing, not only did he ignore Tiphanae, but whatever he was saying seemed like a great deal of nonsense to Nessa. His intentions were foolish, and frankly, Nessa could find herself growing irritated. This demon thing wasn't intimidating, nor did it even attempt to attack them itself. But itself had presented them with a different foe. The giant black eagle, Agatha having been the first into the fray, hit the eagle in the centre of its chest with a powerful bolt of lightning. This injured the bird but wasn't enough to take it down. Agatha grinned.
"Good, at least it's gonna put up somewhat of a fight." She said, with a grin. It seemed that one of the only times Agatha was genuinely happy, was when she was fighting.
The eagle attempted to claw at Agatha ferociously, the lightning ducked, kicking off against the eagle's foot to roll back through the air laughing. The Valkyrie would launch her sword through the skies towards the beast, hitting it slicing in straight through the leg. Agatha would then soar after her sword with tremendous speed, her body cracking with lightning. She caught the sword swiftly before turning back on the beast. At this point Arcadia had rejoined the fight, creating several clones to assist them.
"Oh, looks like I'm not the only one who can do that," Elgorea said, suddenly vibrating with demonic energy her body began to shake with an elevated frequency, and one by one clones of herself would emerge from it. Creating several fake apparitions of herself. Nessa watched, this was the first time she'd ever seen Elgorea fight.
The red-headed demon Valkyrie and her apparitions formed a circular formation around the eagle, spinning around it like a ring. The Valkyrie and her apparitions would move faster and faster, the eagle snapped and clawed at them, but if it struck a copy, another would take its place. The clones would feint attacking the creature, while occasionally the real Demon Valkyrie would lunge forward, appearing to feint only to drive her spear into the monster's ribs, blood would spray forth, narrowly missing the demon, and so the process would repeat. The eagle was too flustered by all the attacks to concentrate on locating the real Elgorea.
Lucinda's technique was particularly amusing to witness, as the girl was made entirely of fire. She was merely soaring across the eagle, reaching out and running her blade against its feathers. They would catch aflame, singeing the giant bird's flesh. Exposing and softening areas that the others would focus their magic attacks on. Nessa threw her orbs in where she could, assisting the Valkyries wherever she could. She found their combined strength an amazing sight to behold, and she couldn't help but wonder if this was truly their full strength or if they were being cautious with the creature. Not knowing it's full strength.
Nessa watched Agatha landed herself on the back of the giant eagle's neck, scaling the creature, she made her way upwards.
What is she planning? Nessa thought although she was distracted from the sight by the cold feel of dread. Scythen had appeared suddenly next to her, Nessa gulped, looking over at the blue-haired Valykrie. Scythen smirked softly at her, an eerie expression if Nessa ever saw one.
"Our magic pleases you, little one," She said in that cool, silky tones of hers. Nessa nodded in response, not sure what Scythen expected her to say. Nessa didn't interact with Scythen often if anything out of all the Valkyries she worked with her the least. The Necromancer's energy was still a little overwhelming for Nessa; she wasn't strong enough to subdue it. Ellamora had told Nessa that as her magic grew more powerful, she would eventually be able to subdue the effects of Scythen's aura. But it was clear to Nessa; she wasn't quite there yet. Because even just flying so close the Valkyrie, made Nessa want to ball up into a ball and hide.
"This beast should be dead by now, Agatha alone could put the creature out of its misery. And they say I am cruel," She continued, Nessa, frowned in confusion, glancing back at the Valkyries. She had a sense they were holding back, but being cruel, were they really toying with it? Scythen, almost as though she had read the Starlight Maiden's thoughts continued.
"No, I guess there is a reason, Ellamora has a plan. We just need to antagonise the beast to the last resort, Watch little one, you will see." She said in an amused tone. Nessa's eyes locked on to the fight, trying to pick up what Scythen meant. The Valkyries were soaring around the beast, shooting their magical spells, slicing at it with their weapons. Agatha, how has climbed onto the eagles head, was somehow managed to hold on as the beast thrashed around violently. Agatha raised her sword in the air; it's long blade glistening in the reflection of the stars. Finally, she drove it down, directly into the eagle's right eye. The eagle screamed in pain, thrashing even more wildly than before. Ellamora flew back,
"Brace yourselves." Ellamora roared, and the Valkyries suddenly backed away. Scythen grabbed Nessa by the back of her dressed and yanked her, flying away from the beast. The eagle then released a microburst of energy in the form of a storm, Nessa would scream at the sight of her dear friend being caught in the downward blast of it. She would try to fly forward to help her, only to be yanked back by the Death Valkyrie.
"Patience little one, this is all for the sake of your little friend." She said, Nessa, looked over at her in bewilderment. Unable to understand how allowing her friend to be hit with such an attack was really helping her.
The eagle let out a deafening screech, Arcturus who hadn't been far back enough, was hit with the force of the screech. Reeling back and grabbing her head. Elgorea shot to her side, grabbing her.
"Tura, Tura, are you ok?" She asked, using an affectionate nickname for her fellow Valkyrie. The ice Valkyrie nodded,
"Yeah, boy did that sting, gotta be more careful." The demon Valkyries eyes would shine with relief, she reached forward and kissed Arcturus on the forehead.
"It seems the beast has resorted to bringing a few friends of its own." Agatha said with a grin, enjoying the dragged out battle. Around the eagle, several more creature appears. Air elementals and Tempest, creatures that had a resemblance to beings with stormy faces.
"Wind magic huh? What say you Tiph, gonna let these pests show you up." Agatha called to Tiph in a teasing tone. Tiphanae grinned,
"I'll show these beasts the true power of wind." She called back, throwing herself at an Air Elemental, the creature attempted to hit her with a blast of wind magic. Which the Valkyrie easily deflected with the swing of her sword.
"What a shallow attempt to fell me, here taste my wind, see how it feels." Tiphanae raised her palm, the air twisting around her. She shot a piercing burst of wind magic at the creature, that hit it so sharply it's split off a huge chunk of it's side.
At this point, the rest of the Valkyries had already charged their targets,
"You might wanna get in on this Nessa Lux, or you'll mist all the fun." Lucinda called out, before slicing away at the Tempest she was facing off with. Nessa grinned, looking around she realised that Scythen had already left to fight once more. Nessa threw herself at one of the remaining creatures, a tempest. Nessa dived in front of it as it attempted to attack Ellamora from behind.
"Hi there!" She said perkily, throwing her hands up she summoned a cage of light around it. The inside of the cage began to radiate with Starlight, the inside of the cage exploding with magical energy and hitting the tempest with it. As the cage did its damage, Nessa summoned her Starlight sword, shooting forward, as the cage disappeared. She drove the sword directly into the chest of the creature, through the other side. The Tempest slumped down against the sword, before disintegrating into nothing. That had been easier than she expected, she had learned so much over her time as a mage. Perhaps this was a reflection of how much stronger and more adept to fighting she had grown.
The Valkyries one by one defeated the additional creatures they had been facing. Agatha and Ellamora had barely taken more than a minute to kill theirs and were already working on the eagle once more. Nessa noticed they were moving the eagle upwards, driving it up with their magical blows.
"She's coming," Ellamora said, Nessa, blinked in confusion, before glancing down to where the Starlight Valkyrie was looking. From below them, Arcadia was soaring back, in her Wyrmling form. A fierce determination, as the miniature dragon, blasted the eagle in the face with a roar of ice magic. Before striking the beast with several blades of ice.
Arcadia seemed to spot something in the distance, exclaiming eagerly about seeing the star. She asked if they would handle the rest, Nessa flew over,
"Go on girl, we got this!" She said encouragingly, pleased they were finally getting close to finishing their mission. Nessa and the Valkyries would turn on the eagle once more. Surrounding it, they would blast it with a burst of each of their elements, Ellamora and Nessa hitting it with starlight, and the rest hitting it with Fire, Ice, Lightning, Wind and Demonic energy. Scythen, on the other hand, would turn, eyes close she focused. Nessa didn't ask what the Death Valkyrie was doing as it seemed important.
As the fighting proceeded, there was a tremendous burst of mana from the moon, causing all the Valkyries and Nessa to look up.
"She has released the star." Ellamora said with a genuine smile, the Valkyries would cheer, and Nesa would do a little fist-pump. The eagle took this opportunity, screeching loudly, it would soar towards the moon.
"The fights not over though, time to finish this." Agatha said, the eight of them would soar through the sky. Towards the moon, landing on its surface after several moments. Nessa felt the headache she had felt earlier return and knew Bob the dream demon was back. She heard him address Arcadia, glancing over at Hati, the ferocious wolf that stared them down. The girls who couldn't hear Bob talking could listen to Hati this time, being spoken through by Bob.
The eagle joined them once more, and the group would face each other.
"You heard her, you're not welcome here. So I guess it's time you leave." Nessa growled,
"Focus your magic girls, no more holding back. This ends now," Ellamora ordered, the Valkyries lined up.
"Scythen, the eagle I leave to you, you have my permission to use that." Scythen whose eyes were still closed, slowly opened, a smile lit up on her face. So purely evil and full of delight that Nessa struggled to look at her.
"Come fallen children of Valhalla," Her voice rang out manically, and around her the air began to shift. Black figures of smoke would appear, manifesting in a great heard. Nessa felt the sense of death surround her, realising what this was. Of course, Valhalla was the realm in which dead warriors were chosen to rest for their bravery on the battlefield. Of course, Scythen, the Valkyrie of Death would have the ability to reach those souls. And she was summoning them here, within moments the moon was layered with over a hundred dead souls. The Valykrie would wave her Scythe towards the eagle.
"Feast, my children, snuff out this beast existence in the name of your benevolent god Odin," She roared, the souls would bellow back before charging the eagle. The eagle attempted to swipe and claw at the dead figures, only to no avail. They were dead after all. Within moments, the beast would crumble under the horde, disappearing under the black smoke. Screeching as it failed to fight out the cloud of death that had fallen upon it. When the smoke faded, the eagle would lay on the surface of the moon, it's life snuffed out completely.
"Well that was...horrifying..." Nessa croaked out, Scythen rolled her neck, her wide, satisfied grin sending a chill down Nessa's spine. The remaining Valkyrie at this point, charged forward towards the wolf, swinging their weapons at it. Nessa snapped back to reality and joining in blasted the wolf with her magic. Ellamora would rise up into the sky,
"Face me demon, I wish to gift you with the Valkyries true power." The Starlight Valkyrie shone with the power of Valhalla's stars, radiating with so much power the air around her would ripple with distorted heat. She would raise her palms to the sky, sword in the air. She would spin it in her grip, before releasing a wave of Starlight energy away from the moon. The blast soared through the sky, hitting everything from miles all around. Regardless of Bob not having a physical body, even he would feel the immense power of the first daughter of Odin.
On the ground, the Valkyries would have Hati surrounded. Agatha would roar, running forward, she would throw her arms around the wolf. The beast would sink its teeth into her shoulder in return. Still, the lightning Valkyrie would not let go. Nessa would go to the charge forward, only to have Tiphanae stop her.
"What are you doing?""It must be her," She said softly, Agatha would look up at Arcadia, her tough Valhallan muscles holding the wolf in place, despite her flesh being ripped into by its sharp fangs. Nessa didn't know why, but the Valkyries wanted Arcadia to finish off the wolf, did this have something to do with what was said earlier, was this their way of proving she would not betray them and bring on the fall of Valhalla as Fenrir had told. A test, Nessa didn't like it, but she understood the Valkyries had their own rules to abide by. Agatha barked towards the Dragon Slayer with a fierce encouragement.
