The mercenary had come to the port town of Hargeon due to hearing that a person there needed help retrieving a precious item that was stolen. The person he spoke to was wealthy person that didn’t seem to mind the fact that a mercenary was in her home, but rather that her item was stolen. While the mercenary had tried to get more information on the item, the woman would only tell him that it was a precious things to her and that it must be retrieved at all cost. With such a statement, it made the mercenary wonder even more what exactly the item was; however, he wouldn’t push his luck as he was given the location of where the people that stole it might’ve gone.

It would take a while, but eventually the mercenary would pick his way through a more destroyed part of town finding a pathway that lead downward and towards the gloom below. He would continue to walk until he found himself before a large ancient looking door that matched the description of the entrance the woman had described to him. Standing before it and looking at that ancient thing filled Deshi with curiosity was to what was beyond that door, but at the same time, he was also filled with a sense of dread.

A sense that only increased when he rested his hand upon the door. He could feel the thing in him react to whatever was beyond and for a moment hesitated wondering just how wise it was to open this door and go beyond. Would he…..be able to keep himself if he went or would he lose more than he wanted?

So it was that a certain mixed blood ended up being asked by someone to join a job. It had been originally given to someone else by the client, but that very person had been in such a rush that they hadn't fully realized it was probably too much for one mage. At least the person he was going to be helping was someone he had met before. It was briefly, at the beach party. Well if the other guy didn't know about the doctors different genders, they were bound to now. Walking along towards the destination, it seemed he had caught the other on time.  "Deshitana!" The half demon spoke loudly with his soft male voice before speeding up his steps a bit. The young looking man smiled once arriving at the entrance door. "I was hired to help you, the client was in so much of a rush that it slipped his mind that this should be tackled by more than one person. I hope that's okay." The male variant of haraka was certainly different than the female one. A flatter, wider chest, stronger shoulders, the bend in his hips moved a bit, and lacking the steeper dip in the stomach area that the female side had. At the same time? Still looked like the same person. Same eyes, hair, skin. The tail and winds weren't visible right now, but he didn't exactly walk with them out all the time. Still, the half dragon wasn't going to stand next to the door forever and wait for an answer.

He checked on William briefly, the pet demonic clam being snuggled around his neck line. "Now William, any enemies we fight might be poisonous. They might not be, but it's better to be safe than sorry. Get what I'm saying? Don't eat the enemies." He didn't really get a response out of the baby sea creature, so the man was unsure of if the baby was going to listen or not. Either way he would eventually find out.

The mercenary had never been in a rush to do the job, but perhaps a bit preoccupied had made it slip his mind that another was supposed to come. He was still at the door when he heard his name called. He would let his hand drop from the still closed doors as he turned his head to look over his shoulder, his expression unreadable as the third eye narrow suspiciously at the one approaching. This person didn’t look familiar and yet….there was something oddly familiar about him. What was it? The mercenary took a moment to think shuffling through his memories until it finally hit him. This man was…the lady from the beach party the guild had, wasn’t he? But how he was a he instead of a she now was a bit confusing, but it was something the mercenary would shake off as a smile came to his lips, the third eye relaxed, and he shifted to face the other fully.

“Ah Haraka. At first I did not recognize you, but it is good to have someone familiar here.” And so it was. Maybe with another to worry about the beast wouldn’t be such an issue. Just maybe. “It is fine. The more help the better. I sense something strange behind this door, but I do not know what.” He would say before looking back at the door as the other spoke to a baby clam. “Let’s hope that poison not be a worry of ours.” Deshi would say before resting his hands on the doors. “Ready?” He would wait for a few seconds for answer before pushing the door open to let them into the strange world beyond.

And what a strange world it was while the place was dark, it was lit up by glow in the crystals that glowed in the darkness along side candles, lanterns and other methods of lighting that was not electrical. Deshi would step into this world looking around.

“Such a pretty place…yet it feels strange. Unsafe even,” the mercenary would say, his soft voice bouncing off the walls within the space.

Hime had woken up today shrouded in somberness, rather unlike the slayer. Typically the peach-haired mage found herself in quite the chipper mood, but something just seemed... off. Attempting to shrug off the uncomfortable vibes, the girl swiftly dressed herself and set out into Hargeon Town; having traveled there just last night, she still felt excited about exploring the town and seeing what might have changed. In particular, she was keenly interested in seeing the repairs to the port and maybe judging whether or not they had improved the design from last time.

However, a door set off to the side, half-buried beneath some rubble left over from that monster's attack, caught Hime's attention. She first twittered a little bit at how destroyed the surrounding area was; that had probably been why the rent was so cheap for her room last night. There were more important things to discover, though, so she tentatively opened the door just enough to slide through, keeping her eyes trained on the impeding darkness in case anything lurked around. Resisting the urge to snap her fingers and light up basically a match to help her vision, the slayer padded forward in the darkness, slow and focused on the tiny pinprick of light she could see ahead.

Eventually, the female reached what ended up being a candle. This was most curious, because the flame could not have been burning for long; the wax was barely melted, and it stood straight and tall. Hime had a suspicion that other humans or intelligent creatures were lurking around.

The mage really wasn't sure why she continued onwards; it wasn't as though she typically had a penchant for adventure. Nonetheless, the peach haired girl kept moving until she almost literally stumbled into the first living being she had seen after waking up today and greeting her Exceed. From behind, the silhouette was vaguely familiar, but yet different. Even more so, Hime's attention was further diverted when she spotted a face, brightly lit by strange crystals whose formations started a few meters farther down the passageway. It was a fellow Silver Wolf member whom the slayer had seen around, but not yet been personally acquainted with. She did not even know his name, in fact. But regardless, he seemed to have just said something addressing the Vaguely Familiar Person whom Hime had nearly bumped into.

Unfortunately, the fire-wielder appeared to have missed any prior conversation, and she was in no hurry to introduce herself. Though Hime half-hoped that neither of them had yet noticed her, she realized it was likely a futile hope and waved lightly to her fellow guild member as well as at the Vaguely Familiar Person's back. Well, she wouldn't say anything for now- the slayer simply continued to blink blankly at the pair she had just encountered, though she did pause once to fish out a lollipop from her pocket and pop it into her mouth. Hm, maybe she had seen the Vaguely Familiar Person at the beach party? There had certainly been quite a few people there. Maybe while working at the spa, a customer or such? The hair definitely rang a bell.

Post by Haraka Omaras 14th September 2018, 1:05 pm

"If the guy rushed at you like I was told, it might mean they are panicking to get the item back... and panic can make people absent minded. I hope they didn't hire another person and not tell anyone... or tell them enough..." Working as a group or a team was fine, it was actually pretty wonderful. It becomes a big mess if people don't know about each other. When asked if they were ready, the doctor nodded. Whatever was behind that door, there was no reason to hold back or pause now. Well, that's what he was hoping anyway. "I agree that more people working as a team the better, that's why part of me is worried that a stray person is..." Of course that was around the time Haraka spotted a human within the darkness. Well, they looked human anyway, who knows if they actually were. It seemed pretty confirmed at this point to him. It was harder to tell with the door closed, but everything was clear now. Well, clear to the half dragon anyway. It was beautiful, but perhaps that was part of the lure. Try to trick the unsuspecting to be lured by the beauty of the lights so they would not look to what moves within the shadows. "I think you are feeling the demonic energy of this place." Should he bring up the girl? Was this a wanderer that took the wrong turn, or another they weren't told about? "I'm going to see if this mission actually has three people..." Three was it, right? They wouldn't go in then later find out there should have been more?

Well, if there's any more that they don't know about and don't find, that's that persons problem. Omaras wanted to just make sure everyone was in one piece and retrieve the item. "Be careful, there are demons watching." Being able to see in the darkness, his abilities permitted him to realize such a thing hidden from the beautiful dim lights. The young looking man walked in quietly, deep sapphire eyes looking at the girl again. She waved... he didn't know her so maybe... "Deishtana, I think she knows you." That might mean she was here to join the job. In any case, the silent movements wasn't helping in avoiding attention when eyes were already on all of them. Would the beasts stay at a distance? That was answered by movements  within the shadows. He noticed who the girl was around the time it seemed like the group was going to get attacked. The mixed blood changed to their female side, though that was to get ready for battle. "Hime from the spa? An attacks coming!" It seemed like the mixed blood was wroong in now knowing her, but there was no time for pleasantries at the moment. The woman allowed her wings and tail to come out. Their dark sapphire coloration easily blended with the shadows, only the white snowflake mark with a dragon at the center being easily seen. The not quite scale but not quite carapace covering was thinly over the back of the wings and went down the lengthy mantis shrimp tail. It would be easier to fight like this.

She was ready for anything coming, so long as they weren't all taken down before she could get a shot in.

“It would certainly be a terrible thing to have an unknown third. He didn’t tell me anything about you, so I would not be surprised if there were other details he left out,” the mercenary would say his voice calm, but his body tensed as shadows dashed about and unseen eyes watched them from the darkness. He wasn’t sure what this place was or what exactly was going on here, but there was a large amount of malice in the air that the mercenary wasn’t sure he was comfortable with or not considering the longer he stood there the more the creature within him stirred. He didn’t want it to take over, but if this was how the place was going to be, he wasn’t sure how long he could stay in control.

However, that would change as he saw one of the shadows get appearing behind Haraka just around the time the other had mentioned a stray person. Squinting in the darkness, the mercenary tried to make out the face of the one who had come, but had a difficult time with the light being the way it was. “Demonic energy. That explains a lot,” he would say and then blinking he would look over Haraka as he mentioned going to see if there was a third, he was about to make a comment to that, but was distracted when the shadowy figure – a girl – waved at him. “Huh. I don’t her name, but I have seen her around. She is one of my guildmates,” he said as his third eye took in the details and finally put the pieces together. He would wave back in turn and look. It appeared that Haraka knew the other too and called her by a name – Hime. Well at least he had a name now, but apparently no time for idle chat. The creatures had noticed them now and did not hesitate to come at them.

As the shadows moved in a chaotic fashion towards them, the mercenary would brace himself just as one of the creatures jumped out with claws and blade bared. It would make an arc in the air before landing and dashing straight for him. Bracing himself, the mercenary would wait until the creature was close and swinging its blade to jump back, the strange blade whirling inches from his face as he landed away from the beast, but he would have no time to rest as it quickly followed up with a horizontal swipe of the claws.

He’d hope back again the move barely missing him once more. He was getting lucky for now, but he knew if he wasn’t careful that luck would run out especially at the speed this thing moved. In any case, as soon as he landed he would push himself forward and move into an open spot within the enemy’s defenses and unleash a kick right to its chest attempting to do some damage; however, the creature was quick and hoped back landing with a thud and cackle a good distance away as it shifted in the darkness preparing its next attack.

Demon's Call (Job with Haraka) Empty Re: Demon's Call (Job with Haraka)

Post by Rin Loves Mari 16th September 2018, 8:46 am

The slayer would smile back at Deshitana and his wave before realizing that, ah! The Very Familiar Person was Haraka, from the spa! It was a happy moment for them to recognize each other, and that was such a surprise that the slayer was nearly tempted to stop moving and just stare at two people who she was actually vaguely or more than vaguely familiar with, before suddenly there was battle happening. There was no time to really acknowledge the fact that Haraka's appearance had nearly suddenly changed, though that fact certainly lingered in the peach-haired girl's mind as she squinted into the fast-moving shadows, not very well able to follow the movements of the fight so far.

"It's so dark in here, this place seriously needs to get lit up," she muttered unceremoniously as she threw her hands out around her, bringing roaring, flickering flames into existence in the nearby area. The fire cast light into the dark space, revealing more clearly three hulking figures, shadowy and clawed and honestly rather indistinct. Catching sight of what seemed to be another approaching from farther away, the slayer drew her hand along through the air, forming a short sword out of the flames. As the flames from before that she had brought into being for the purpose off light spread and began to corner the demonic creatures, Hime darted in their wake, attacking the nearest thing with a myriad of slashes and added fiery kicks and touches. After a moment of consideration, the girl leapt a few paces away and a fiery serpent shot out from the magic sizzling on the slayer's skin, filling the space with fanged snarls and jerking forwards, the movements unpredictable as it darted towards a second demon, splitting into six along the way as all attacked in unison and tandem according to their will. Meanwhile, Hime had continued to rain down blows on the first, her fingertips burning with fire as she held back a laugh at the joy of filling such a dark place with light, no matter how destructive.

Considering they were technically sort of vanquishing something bad at the moment, she couldn't hardly be bothered to care either way. After the first creature had melted into shadows, easily cast away, she was about to help with the second when the third suddenly lashed out, red eyes burning as it drew some sort of rickety, jagged blade and lunged for the slayer's throat. Skipping backwards a few steps, Hime gritted her teeth as the edge of the dark weapon caught on her skirt; it was a travesty to think of replacing it so soon, considering that she had just bought the article of clothing, so instead of worrying about that now the female just hustled out of reach of the demon. She found herself closer to where the second was struggling to keep track of the fiery serpents that darted in to snap at vulnerable parts and sunk their flaming fangs into anywhere within reach. Smiling in a way far too cold for the fire slayer, the peach-haired girl quietly drew her sword along the demon's throat, the flames sizzling on her skin erupting and hissing as they contacted the dark creature's skin, flesh, whatever it was. It too seemed to melt into tangible puddles of shadow before shrinking into nothingness.

Her attention was caught off guard as more demons piled into the room, their eyes glowing even as their bodies were illuminated by the fire lapping all around the edges and in random spots within the area. Likewise, her fire serpent finally grew still, studying the oncomers as it reformed back into one snake.

Demon's Call (Job with Haraka) Empty Re: Demon's Call (Job with Haraka)

Post by Haraka Omaras 22nd September 2018, 10:11 am

    This was ridiculous.
A cold pulse went through the salt water of her veins, taking form in her palms. It was like a thick breath of cold, quickly shaping into a pair of elegant Ice khopesh. Shoes silently moved over the darkened area, The chilling white weapons quickly cutting into one of the intruders. The womans attacks were aggressive, meeting any potential counter attacks with more movements from her blades. The difference wasn't so obvious between the two sides until Haraka entered battle. Her male side was always thinking far more and deeper, their thoughts and doubts reflecting on the battlefield. As a lady? The doctor had more confidence, she didn't think as much or as deep, and she was more aggressive. If this was a different sort of fight, perhaps there would be reason to pity the demon taken down, but that was certainly not currently the case.
The half dragon had started to charge another demon Before the one just defeated had finished falling. As someone who could see perfectly fine in the darkness, she had no need for the light to show her what was going on. The cut of the blade pierced through the opponent, using an attack with its claws that was attempted on her person to stab through the main joint of its arm. The assault didn't end there, but it it was certainly the end of that arms usefulness in a fight. The was no reason to hold pity for a creature after her and the others lives or goods. The things that shifted never stuck out much to even Omaras before.
Why? It wasn't until she had joined the guild that the half demon had started fighting and holding her ground.

It's hard to notice a red flag when its buried out of view. In her case, it came to view after her frigid blades had fully taken down a second demon. Why then? Because the want to kill didn't fully end when she finally had the chance to pay attention to her comrades. The doctor quickly shifted to their male side, reaching under his shirt. It was an epiphany that disturbed him enough to cause rationality to be temporarily pushed aside. An ice blue skinned arm temporarily dropped its blade in order to retrieve a certain necklace that had been hidden under his clothing. A regal looking silver colored necklace on a silver chain. That necklace had a silver dragon atop a snowflake that connected to a small key. It was old, but certainly not powerful.
A dim light poured from the mixed bloods form, patterns of light in different kinds of blues quickly becoming visible on the young looking mans wings and tail. He put the necklace away as the panic begun to ebb out of their system, picking the second ice khopesh back up. That had worked the doctor up so much? It was the realization why the female side was more aggressive and confident. It was made far more clear when forced into battle in a demon realm, though would have been missed if Haraka hadn't fought in his female form.
It was connected closer to their demon side and the energy in that realm had stirred something in him he hadn't realized existed. A struggle that had been subconscious had been brought to the open. Even when things became increasingly easier to handle, the brief desire was burned into memory.

The light from his form wasn't magic, but one of a deep sea creature. It may have been attention grabbing, but it seemed at least for now that the demons were done trying to murder not so welcome visitors. One had the bright and aggressive fire and the others light was easily mistaken for something holy. Two out of the three had already taken down multiple creatures. Omaras didn't notice right away, but at least his thoughts were not obvious. There hadn't been any attempted aggression against those he was working with, only a temporary want that was quickly and purposely snuffed out. Was he going to say anything? Well, maybe. What to say? Well, considering he was now glowing he couldn't exactly tell Hime that her fire had been bright and attention grabbing.
It would be a bit like the pot calling the kettle black. "I... " There was a pause, words heavy in the throat. For now, just focus on work. "I didn't expect to see you here Hime. Were you also hired to retrieve a stolen possession from this demon realm? Good job fighting those tall demons." The demons here were certainly all fairly tall so far. Was it because the darkness here? There were certainly light within the glowing crystals and lanterns, but it didn't change that there was no sunlight, nor any light sources that could brightly shine over a large area. Each item glowed just enough to lure others near to it, even water in streams.

The ice blue skinned person was starting to realize just how trap like and alluring this area was. "I wont be using my female side here again, this realms energy messes with it. I'll put my necklace back on in a moment." Haraka didn't want to be one of the causes for enemies to run over, not yet realizing that a glowing person gave the illusion of holy magic. While the mixed blood didn't have any of that, none of the creatures here knew this. The doctor was just a medium for certain spirits, a water and ice wielder that was friends with a few spirits. In any case he was quickly not becoming a fan of this area. It didn't matter if he could see fine here, it would be a blessing to not need to cross this place ever again.

Demon's Call (Job with Haraka) Empty Re: Demon's Call (Job with Haraka)

Post by Deshitana 22nd September 2018, 12:00 pm

When the place was lit up by Hime’s magic, the mercenary was able to mostly see his enemy. It was clear enough that it was a demon of some sort that had the goal of killing him in mind. As if to make good on what it wanted to the creature would move to come at him, a swift swipe of its claws coming at him first. He’d move back and the creature would move in with its sword and this time make a strike as it managed to do minor damage to the mercenary’s arm as he tried to avoid the blow.

Not stopping the creature would growl and come at him again giving him no room for rest. Dodging another blade swipe, the mercenary would move in to use a heavy punch on the creature which thankful made contact, but didn’t do too much damage. Go figure. Still he wouldn’t stop there as the creature stumbled back. He would keep the distance closed as he went after the creature with a flurry of kicks and blows that while weak alone, together did make the creature tumble back on the ground. Growling the creature would get back up quickly and move in for some more once more starting the dance of avoiding swipes and trying to get into openings for more hits.

It was in the middle of this chaotic dance that a voice in his head spoke, sending chills down his spine as he pushed the creature back. “You never knew how to fight properly, did ya kid? Move over!” The voice would growl in his head and then…

His body would go limp for a moment the mercenary standing there not moving for a second. A second that probably would’ve cost his life as the creature moved in with a strike from its blade; however, that blade never touched the mercenary as he slid smoothly around the blade his hand going up to grab the creature’s arm as his other hand came up right where the elbow would be with so much force that the creature’s arm broke.

Having no mercy upon the injured creature, the mercenary would stay close as he raised his hand as a symbol peeled off his arm and he crushed it in his hands. Flames would erupt in that fist and at point blank range, he would unleash it right in the creature’s face sending it reeling back in pain right towards a rather low hanging and sharp looking crystal.

Grinning, he would push off the ground and kick the injured creature as hard as he could sending it right into the crystal that impaled it. As the crystal impaled the creature the mercenary would smirk as the creature faded into darkness once more.

“Hmph.” Was all he had to say to that as he turned his attention back to the other two. It seemed the male was speaking about not using his female side her because of the energy of the place messing with it. “Aww, but she took out the creatures so nicely. Why not let her stay?” the mercenary would ask his style of talking shifting to a less formal one and the air around him becoming darker than before. Whatever came of that was yet to be seen, but the mercenary didn’t care as he looked around the area before stretching as red eyes looked sleepily around the area. “You two aren’t bad fighters. You cleaned them up nicely. Almost too nicely, but you left me one so I can forgive,” the mercenary would say with a smirk before shifting in his spot. “Shall we go further in and see what else can be found?” he would ask as he looked at the pair the third eye on his forehead shut for some reason or another.

Demon's Call (Job with Haraka) Empty Re: Demon's Call (Job with Haraka)

Post by Rin Loves Mari 23rd September 2018, 8:23 am

To the chagrin of the slayer, whose blood was nearly broiling against the confines of her veins at this point, the newly arriving enemies were neatly finished off by her companions. Though the slayer wasn't particularly fond of fighting in any case, she had an itching pent up urge to blast away walls and shadows with flaming energy. Inhaling through her nose to flood her impatient brain with oxygen, the peach haired mage suddenly detected a rotting stench, wafting through her nostrils and causing her to cringe.

Hime's eyes narrowed as she clenched a fist and whipped her arm around behind her, sharply contacting a tall creature that had been hulking right behind her. Hissing, she slid a few meters from the impact, and for a few moments the hair hung still as the two regarded each other warily.

Then, everything became a blur, moving at once- with whirling trails of fire shooting through the air around her, the slayer lunged for the monster's legs, slashing with scythe-shaped flames and wielding a fiery whip that scored marks into the shadowy, indistinct flesh. The apparition didn't seem to be in any rush to get the battle going at any reasonable speed, for it only first attempted to block the onslaught with a sharpened, gleaming sword that mimicked the rise and fall of shadows as it blurred into darkness once in a while until a flame or bright light came close enough. But finally, it leapt at Hime- its eyes shone with an uncanny light as it slashed downwards, aiming for her head with extended claws whose glint spoke to their razor-sharp quality. The peach-haired slayer snarled as she barely dodged out of the way, the talons ripping shreds right through part of her sleeve and catching on her arm before finishing their path, raking towards the ground in a slice that moved akin to a blur. "Hh," the girl spat in the demon's face before her leg came up, kicking directly towards its face before she leaped away, slashing out with her whip even as her feet took steps seven at a time to get out of range and briefly recover her breath.

It would have been fairly impossible not to notice the arrival of even more demons, three taller as before but one similar to that which Hime was fighting at the very moment. All of them seemed uninterested in attacking the fiery mage, though she was the option closest to them and it would be to their benefit to team up against her while the stronger demon was fighting as well. Yet, they turned away, unwilling to engage in combat despite the challenging expression she glared at them with. "Odd," Hime managed to get out before she was forced to scatter her thoughts as the hulking figure growled and lunged for her torso, that shining sword under the gem lights flicking and twisting towards her vital internal organs. To avoid dying, since such was a bad activity, the auburn haired individual rolled to one side before throwing her right hand up and around in an almost counter clockwise, throwing the whip around the creature's back with a sense of urgency. She caught the tail end of the weapon with her left and and pulled, yanking the demon down a little bit but mostly slicing directly through its back and neck and shoulders at an odd angle that betrayed the lack of bone structure.

At the slice, the demon finally dissipated into a shadowy sludge and substance that melted over the girl, much to her disgust. Resisting the urge to breathe in and sigh, Hime flared flames over her body, burning away the muddiness and filth until she was as clean as somebody with half-ripped clothes and a bit of blood could be. Glancing around the room, she marveled again at the fact that the demons hadn't jumped at the chance to devour her while she was already struggling to fight the lone monster. Proceeding to lope over to the side of the room, the female splashed some water from a nearby stream onto her face and tucked her hair back. She drank a bit from the moving source, with only a bit of trepidation before scooping the substance into a flask that she threw into her endless pockets. Digging out a new lollipop, the peach-haired girl watched her comrades battle from the sidelines, half trying to watch in case they required back up.

Demon's Call (Job with Haraka) Empty Re: Demon's Call (Job with Haraka)

Post by Haraka Omaras 1st October 2018, 12:40 am

The mixed blood looked at Deshitana for a moment. Why not? Why did that feel off? He wasn't really sure since the half dragon hadn't known the other long yet. It was probably his imagination getting the better of him, it wasn't that hard to pull. In any case, it seemed like the young looking older man should explain better. "The air is thicker than soup in this realm with demonic energy." That was the only line of explanation he was able to mutter before more demons had started to arrive. The ice blue skinned person took in a breath before taking out and slipping back on the ice dragon key necklace. Light vanished from the mixed bloods body, at least no longer looking like a bright target. It didn't feel like they were given enough time, his mind was still feeling slightly fogged. Did that matter? No, not when it seemed like the demons already seemed to know who they were going to attack. Three of them had gone towards Deshitana, one at Hime, and another towards himself. The two lone ones were shorter than the others, but that wasn't always a good sign when it came to demons. Supposedly, some of the most powerful ones were those who naturally had some humanoid form that more human like than most others. Never fully human looking, but certainly not like fifteen foot tall hulks. It didn't look any more humanoid than the taller ones, but the way it moved at the mixed blood told Haraka that it was at least faster than the others. Since he had successfully increased his speed on land, the half demon had started to get used to enemies not always being able to keep up.

This time his brief hesitation with the ice kopesh had landed the young looking man with a chest wound. Steps that hadn't been fast enough to fully avoid a strike from a sword coated in ink dark shadow. While the voices that came from it didn't phase the west fiore trading company member, it didn't make him immune to bleeding. Trying to attack the creature again made him realize that they had the same speed. To win he would need to move without hesitation, or slow the other one down. The half dragon decided to try to slow the other down, as the side with more confidence and less hesitation was currently out of the doctors grasp. Well, out of his grasp unless he wanted to run a strong risk of attacking a teammate. Hungering vine would be perfect, if it were not for the fast that he was pretty sure this bastard would move out of the easily dodged spell. A spell that would be harder to dodge would be snow breath would be perfect. It's a bit wider and the spell is faster. Omaras took in a deep breath, side stepping while doing so to try to avoid getting hit. That didn't entirely work, but that didn't matter. The demon may have gotten a swipe in at the mages side, but white ice and snow had begun to pour out of their mouth. The man had to smile a bit after the spell was done, knowing the cold would cause his opponent to slow down and their defenses to weaken. Grip tightened on his ice weapons before the ice blue skinned person started in for some attacks. He took a few swipes with the white colored twin blades.

The attacks landed, but not as effectively as they should have. In truth, his attacks were particularly hesitant and clumsy due to a lingering terror of himself. The idea that his female side had even considered that was terrifying, it shook the man up. The mixed blood wasn't a wholly different person in each gender, only certain personality traits tended to shine stronger in each one. That demon side of his, it was important, he knew that. This was the first he was faced with the fact that his dragon side was just as important. It was the logic he relied on, the kindness and self control. Haraka didn't want to have to accept that, but reality doesn't care what you want. The internal conflict wasn't making it impossible for him to fight, but it was definitely why he had gotten multiple wounds and hadn't taken his opponent down as of yet. The demon half was where his ocean magic originated from, why he was even able to connect so deeply with his elemental spirits and had befriended as many plant spirits as he had.  It was one thing to know it was violent, but it was another thing to actually feel it try to rip out of your own control. To have to do that forced the realization that the calm mind of the doctors was from the draconian half. At the least he had still managed to take the demon down. The victory didn't feel satisfying though, at least not to the young looking man. It was a bitter one, because he knew that he had let his inner conflict get the better of him. "That was a piss poor job Haraka. You even slowed him down..."

The frustrated man muttered. Maybe he should create some fire essence to heal what wounds he had? Part of him wanted to go to the other enemies, but the other side said to hold off. If he did that, wouldn't it show a distrust in Deshitanas abilities? So instead the mixed blood started to watch on, just in case the other mage actually did need help.

Demon's Call (Job with Haraka) Empty Re: Demon's Call (Job with Haraka)

Post by Deshitana 1st October 2018, 4:41 pm

The red eye mercenary would watch Haraka calmly when they looked at him, the smirk on his face never fading as the other answered his question with a simple statement. “So it is,” he would say in amused tones before tilting his head slightly as he heard the sounds of more enemies coming. Well now. There was not going to be any rest for them? Good. He was looking for a good fight anyway. As the enemies flooded in and split off into groups, the man would find himself surrounded by three of those creatures with blades.

The possessed man’s smirk would turn into a grin as he took a step back and then became still watching the three that came towards him. There was a stillness for a few seconds and then, the one from the right would come at him first with its blade raised. It would try for a downward slice, but the mercenary would quickly dance out of the way of the blade only to catch movement of the next one who was charging forward with claws bared. Hopping back a little he would reach out to grab the creature’s out stretched arm and using its momentum, he’d spin to the left forcing the creature to run smack into a jagged wall with a strange groan. It wasn’t enough to kill it, but it was enough to harm it. He could’ve finished it off; however, he had other problems to worry about. Such as that slash in the back that came from the third one that had managed to move in and swipe him with a sword.

The pain brought a mad smile onto the mercenary’s lips as he ducked under another sword swipe before coming up to smack the wrist of the enemy with enough force to make its weapon clatter to the ground. Moving quickly, he’d dive under a claw swipe from the agitated creature and rolling he’d pick up the weapon it had dropped before getting back to his feet.

Holding the blade lightly in one hand, the mercenary would settle into a defensive position once more watching as the enemy collected themselves and then with some strange clicking and hisses decided to attack him at once. The first leapt into the air aiming to come down upon the mercenary with its sword, while the second came in low aiming for his legs with claws now that it was weaponless. Stepping forward, the mercenary would begin a strange dance.

To the one coming from up high he would move under it as he pushed himself off the ground to hop over the lower one’s claw strike. As the creature slid under him, he would use the creature as a stepping stone to get a bit of a boost as he brought the sword in his hand upward in a heavy upward slash. Between the swing and the added momentum, his blade was able to go into the creature with enough force to lop off one of its legs and send it tumbling to the ground. Coming back down he would land just as the injured one came forward with a screech as it waved its blade wildly at him. Dodging one swing and then bring the sword up to block another, the mercenary would play a game of exchange the blow with the creature until he found an opening and slipping into it stabbed the creature right in the face with the sword turning one of the three into  darkness once more.

With one down and two left, the mercenary would turn just as the disarmed creature flung itself at him, knocking him over with its weight. Hitting the ground on his back, the mercenary would struggle with the creature that sought to kill him with bites and scratches; however, the mercenary would not die so easily. Getting his feet between them, he would eventually gather enough strength to kick the creature off of him and roll onto his side just as another tattoo peeled off him. Staying down, he would slam the tattoo into the ground just as the creature came at him again. The creature would never make it to him as spikes shot from the ground and impaled it turning it too into darkness once more. Getting to his feet, Deshi would move over to the last of the group, the one struggling to stand once more. Kicking its arms from under it, the mercenary would lift his foot before slamming it down on the base of the creature’s neck. There was a loud crunch in the area before the creature vanished into darkness. As the last of the enemies disappeared, the mercenary would look over at the two with him with narrowed scanning quietly to see if they were okay before speaking.

“Anyone need healing?” he would growl between breaths as he looked around the area they were in to make sure no more enemies were around.

Demon's Call (Job with Haraka) Empty Re: Demon's Call (Job with Haraka)

Post by Rin Loves Mari 3rd October 2018, 5:18 pm

Hime smiled, her eyes crescents as she waved off Deshitana's concerns. She had a scratch, but it wasn't deep enough to be concerning or detrimental when it came to fighting. Copying her guild mate, the fire dragon slayer glanced sharply around the area, straining her eyes to see into the farthest tunnels in case something were to approach. In the end, she basically scoffed at her attempts to look into the dark nooks, craning her head. "I thought I already lit up this place earlier," the fiery mage muttered before she flicked her wrist casually towards the corners and entry points of the gemmed cavern. Flames shooting from her palm, the shadows soon brightened up to reveal absolutely nothing in the way of tangible threats.

Making a soft hmph noise, the peach haired girl relaxed a little bit before she shrugged and made a vague sort of gesture, communicating to her two fellow mages. Then, Hime stepped forward towards the exit ahead, whose tunnel was barely lit at the very front by her flames. She lit herself a miniature torch on the tip of her index finger and held it up as she stepped through, not bothering to extinguish all the flames that were left flickering about in the chamber most of the battle had taken place in. Sort of leading the way, the slayer brightened her created torchlight until the glow cast by the fire bounced brightly off of the tunnel walls. Then, manipulating the light, she wrapped a thin coat of flames around her skin and hair and clothing, wavering it in such a way that she would appear invisible unless touched and the physical mirage, broken. As she finally finished winking out of sight, the flame that had emerged from her index finger neatly melded into a serpent that fell to the floor and slithered ahead, glowing as it led the way without much further pause.

It was altogether too sudden when the dark space widened and light hit her eyes harshly. In fact, it seemed almost as though there had been some sort of opaque barrier keeping away any light from the enormous room that Hime now was entering. Yet, there was barely any room to think as a cacophony of trumpets and drums assaulted her ears and scattered any speculations away. Even as the fiery dragon slayer already felt as though her eardrums had blown out from the noise, a sudden onset of whispering and murmuring with a density and intensity a thousand voices thick filtered directly into her mind, nearly drowning out the instruments altogether. "Hh...?" Hime's illusion didn't flicker, but she dropped to her knees and pressed two palms over her ears, scrunching her fingers around them in a futile attempt to block out the intrusive symphony. It was then that a sudden movement in front of her and a little to the left attracted her attention despite the great amount of things toiling to distract the girl.

Turn back, the man- no, demon, hissed directly into her mind as Hime made eye contact with the individual, not so much taller than the average person and perhaps even shorter than some men or particular women, standing on a pedestal in the center of the room. The flashes of motion she had seen were the faces and heads of demons all on every wall of the cavern, hissing and jeering and snarling as the exalted one in the center regarded the party with an unfamiliar look etched across his visage. She had no idea how to interpret their facial expressions. Yet somehow, the general figure and appearance of this demon was human, which just made her inability to compute its emotions or intentions even more unnerving. Turn back, traveler, and take with you any treasure you have encountered so far. The final treasure lies only for those who seek glory beyond what they should, he cautioned, before leveling a glowing spear of flickering, shadowy energy at her. Somehow, his words seemed oddly sincere.

Hime caught sight of a pedestal behind the demon, on the far side of the room; on it sat a large chest, stained dark and inscribed with glowing black incantations in a language foreign to the peach-haired slayer. The demon brought her attention back to it with more words, all echoing in her mind as its mouth stayed perfectly still. Its robes swished as it looked at her with unreadable eyes, a warm and natural brown that served to further give the impression that he was human. If you wish, I know of a secret to the water that flows through the streams of this place. You may take what you can from there, but be warned that none may progress to seize the treasure in this room without facing me on all terms.

Demon's Call (Job with Haraka) Empty Re: Demon's Call (Job with Haraka)

Post by Haraka Omaras 15th October 2018, 12:41 am

The doctor looked over at Deshitana when he asked if anyone needed healing? Did he need some? Maybe, but Omaras new he could heal himself. The physical damage that had been done had been lowered by the thickened skin the man had with their wings and tail out. The biggest hit was to the mixed bloods pride, focus and confidence. This wasn't exactly a good place to have a discovery about something vital and personal about yourself. Deep down inside, his demon half was something dark and violent. It was the sort of thing the half dragon had heard people speak of many times in his homeland when that place still existed. He used to brush it off as blind hate and fear of something not fully known or understood. "I'll heal myself if more damage piles up, thank you for asking." Part of him felt a bit guilty. It was something hes done for a long time. In the past, using truths and normal assumptions to keep people from digging further or worrying was for survival. This time it wasn't for survival, but with a comrade in arms. It was to make sure nobody would get distracted. This was a job that certainly would need all the focus they could get. The guilt felt was shoved into his gut, rewarding him with a wet pained knotted sensation. Why? Perhaps because deep down Haraka knew that he wouldn't mention the distracting inner conflict even after the job was finished. To the man, it felt a bit like Hime wanted to draw attention to the group.

This was a place with countless demons watching from the darkness, light only coming from the plants, crystals, water, and items like lanterns. The only time he had used light was to draw his mind back in, which didn't even get more than a few moments of use anyway. From the start, the fire user had blown fire around as if she wanted to be this realms sun. What he didn't expect was for her to coat herself in fire before vanishing completely. She had a bigger communication issue than he used to have when the half ice dragon used to be missing most of his self expression. Before she turned invisible she didn't even talk to either of them, just herself! It wasn't even something connected to going invisible! What made even less sense when she made fire that moved. At least her smell and magical presence was easy enough to tell it's location. "I don't feel that Hime is properly communicating with us Deshitana." But he still ended up following the fire. It was interesting to watch the streams slowly converge together in to one in the front of a cave. Why was she going in there? Was she going to say anything? At the least the way it seemed that all the water sources pointed to this location. Even bad communication didn't change that this made the cave stand out. What made the water glow? Or the crystals that stuck out of the floor of the area. It was almost a waste that these things grew in an area not suited for people to linger within it's depths.

The only thing that broke the beautiful dark scenery for the young looking man was a sound in the distance. The further into the cave they went, the closer it sounded. Drums, why was there the sound of drums? It really felt ill suited for such a place. What did the sound lead to? A room attached to the cave. Many of the demons that lines the walls looked familiar, but ones playing instruments were not in the least bit. The thing that caught his eye the most? It wasn't the more humanoid demon in the middle of the room, nor the candles that lit the area, the music that over flooded the room, or even that there was a room at the end of a cave. It was the chest at the other side of the room on the pedestal. The treasure is only for those who seek glory beyond what they should? That pissed the half demon off. It was hard to resist the natural pull to his female side that anger caused, but it was resisted with the anger. But moral upset still waged through him to a degree, winning over caution. Then again, when has caution worked for this job so far anyway? "That's the stolen item our group was sent to retrieve and return to it's owner. It's not yours to give away!" It smelled of lavender oil and incense, of clean air and certainly not this realm. That was definitely the box that they needed to grab and return. "Even if I was never told how it looks, the smell still makes it clear enough that it doesn't belong in this demon realm." Did he plan to leave? Hardly.

It didn't matter how upset the demon lord looked to Omaras or why. Maybe they would hand the item over freely? but there was a strong feeling of doubt in the pit of his stomach. Low or high ranked, this was still a type of demon lord. This meant they were likely used to getting their way, which explained why the creature spoke as if the stolen box was already their property to covet. The demon spoke that it was his, but all that told the doctor was that talking would get them nowhere. He was tired of this nonsense, if not for Hime than it probably would have taken an obnoxiously long time just to find the items location. Hands gripped firmly to white ice handles that remained chilled within his grip. This place had caused him to realize that his demon half had a lot of violence that his dragon half kept under wrap, and forced him to rely on only one of the halfbloods genders. One of the worst parts was it had caused what felt like an internal crisis, that very crisis that had caused something simple to become overly complicated. In any case, the ice blue skinned person was tired of this place and the loud sounds in this room. The young looking man took in a deep breath before releasing thick layers of ice shards and snow. What he didn't expect? To have the spell dodged and almost get struck in the side with a sword. The only thing stopping the attack was his own ice Kopesh. The spell in question wasn't created to be able to block attacks, thus the blades broke under pressure.

This still bought Haraka enough time to move out of the way of the quick assault. As dark shoes quickly moved against the floor, his mind raced to think of a quick acting spell that could move itself if he missed. That came to one of his plant spirit friends, the hungering vines. A seed was quickly created than tossed. It was the sort of spell he never wanted to be the closest to once it activated, thus he started trying to move back. Thankfully the person nearest to the plant was the demon lord. It didn't seem to stun them, temporarily or otherwise.  At least it kept the other man occupied, giving the half demon a chance to prepare. What would be the best to use? The ice Khopesh was the best long lasting spell that the west fiore trading company member had, even if it definitely wasn't made to ever be used for blocking and that should never be attempted again. A white mist formed in both palms before forming ice flowers that grew and blossomed out until becoming a pair of white ice khopesh. Omaras charged in with an attack as the demon lord was still working on breaking out of the vines grasp. All of his frustration, upset and confusion were all vented at the enemy in the form of quick and accurately hitting attacks. There was no thinking about how this person would easily be able to out speed him, or that those vines were likely the only reason any attacks were hitting. The young looking old man just wanted to finish this job and go home.

It took many strikes, it seemed that the boss was almost out of the vines grasp when the last one took the demon down once and for all. The doctor should have been happy that the demon vanished, or that the others seemed to vanish soon after. Still, everything that happened there left a sour taste in his mouth. There was also a heaviness in the pit of his stomach that told him that the creature wouldn't stay dead forever. He looked around the room briefly before walking over to the chest at the back of the room than picking it up. "Let's return this to it's rightful owner."
