Name: Virgil Duphrane
Gender: Male
Age: 21
Birthday: 07/15
Sexuality: Straight
Special Characteristics: N/A
Personality: Virgil is, first and foremost, a man of science. Being unable to use magic himself, he's settled for the next best thing, and goes at it with all the zeal of a religious fanatic. He has a small tendency to put himself, and any unfortunate assistants in danger with his overreaching experiments, but that doesn't mean he's willingly putting people in danger, it's just he tends to overestimate his abilities. That being said, one shouldn't think Virgil is just simply a quack who has no idea what he's doing. Virgil goes out of his way to research what he's doing meticulously, to ensure the best results from his experiments. He's also staunchly opposed to human experimentation, preferring to focus his scientific efforts on practical solutions that humans can use, without endangering them.
When it comes to social situations, Virgil can go from being a total motormouth (especially when science is concerned), to being completely tongue tied (when it comes to most other subjects he doesn't understand). This doesn't mean he certainly wont try, and as he learns more, he gets more comfortable. But when such situations come up, he tends to clamp up, not wanting to make a fool out of himself. That being said, he's rather polite in conversation. Though if you get on his bad side, expect him to get snarky and sarcastic.
When it comes to combat scenarios, Virgil tends to treat them as opportunities to test out his creations. Not that he's a complete battle nut mind you. If he doesn't have any means to fight, he'll quickly back out and leave the fighting to others. But, if he can help in a fight, he'll help out, especially if it means showing off some of his creations. He'll tend to focus on helping out others, rather than try to steal all the glory for himself. After all, that's why he's a scientist. To help others.
Likes:
-Caffeine: Black tea, coffee, cola, basically any form of caffeine he can get his hands on. You can sleep when you're dead!
-SCIENCE!: It's kind of his thing. You may have noticed this by now.
-Intelligence: Smart minds tend to like other smart minds. He always enjoys an intelligent conversation, sometimes muttering to himself when he can't get one.
Dislikes:
-Stupidity: A very good way to get under his skin very quickly is to prove how stupid you are.
-Bureaucrats: Damn red tape. All the semantics just get in the way of science!
-Book Burning: Burn or ruin a text book in front of him. I dare you.
Motivations:
-The Advancement of Science: Kind of a core thing for scientists. To improve the scientific knowledge of the world, through research and discovery.
-Protecting the normies: Not everyone has magic after all. What are the normal people to do when a crisis comes up and the mages aren't around? He wants to provide them with the means to protect themselves.
-Compensation: Being born to a pair of mage brothers with no magic himself, Virgil wants to pick up the slack, and science is the key!
Fears:
-Spiders: How many times have spiders slipped into his inventions, causing them to malfunction? How many times has Virgil woken up to find one on his FACE!?
-Helplessness: It's one of the driving forces of his crusade for science. People shouldn't feel helpless. It's one of the worst feelings imaginable!
-Being Discarded: Being written off as a quack, or someone useless. Virgil works so hard in order to prevent this.
