Personality: Soft-spoken, gentle and naturally caring for all around her, Melissa is the silent yet maternal figure in the world of spellslingers that she finds herself absorbed in. Nothing much affects her in a negative manner unless someone else around her is upset. In these instances she will step forward and try to help them, whether that be cheering someone up when they're down or resolving a potential conflict between two guildmates - something she excels in by turning up with unexpected pastries or sweet confectioneries that seem to appear from nowhere and shutting the issues down before they have a chance to escalate.

When put in a position of conflict that cannot be resolved she will do one of two things depending on the severity; if it's a minor bust-up then she will leave the issue to resolve itself - let a few punches get thrown and then let it simmer and eventually die down. If the conflict is larger, or someone is threatened on a larger scale than just a simple smack in the mouth then, and only then, will she use her magic and fight to protect them.

As a member of the guild, and having worked in a variety of establishments as she grew up, Melissa is very good at taking directives and orders from someone she considers a superior in the subject at hand (the exceptions being cleaning and cooking, as she takes those things to an art form). She will memorise the commands to the letter and excel at performing them. However she isn't particularly good at giving orders (with exception to the aforementioned cooking and cleaning, as she expects perfection). This is due to her soft-mannerisms that result in people either ignoring her or simply not hearing her. That isn't to say she doesn't command respect; many respect her for what she does and will usually help her if they realise she needs it. She simply isn't very good at leading people.

- Tea; Melissa is somewhat of a tea connoisseur, having tasted many, MANY teas in her time. She will vary the tea depending on her mood at the time, although her personal favourite is Earl Grey tea with lemon and a little honey.

- Learning; Melissa is an avid learner and can often be seen reading a book on some complicated subject or another. Her strongest method of learning though is to watch someone else, memorising their motions and emulating them. Courtesy of her near-unrivalled memory retention, she is an incredibly quick learner.

- Rain; While the weather is what it is, Melissa finds something oddly therapeutic about rainy weather - and it's not just the sound of the rain hitting the windows of her apartment. The wet weather has a way of grounding her when she feels most stressed or out of control.

Dislikes:

- Conflict; Melissa hates conflict and will do everything within her power to prevent it where necessary. This is mostly due to her not having to deal with it much throughout her growing up, with the only instances being her visits to her father at his workplace or witnessing the occasional bust-up in the guildhall.

- Coffee; whilst she is an avid tea-drinker, coffee is an entirely different story altogether. She despises the bitterness of it, particularly how it lingers long after the liquid is inevitably spewed from her mouth - an impulse action she repulses almost as much as the coffee itself.

-Crowding; not necessarily in the sense of being in the crowd, but rather being crowded around and being the central point of attention. She quickly becomes flustered and uncomfortable and will find any excuse to make a swift exit if put in this situation.

Motivations:

- Lamia Scale; the guild has helped her family out numerous times in recent years and, whether they intended to or not, Melissa intends to repay the kindness by helping others alongside them. That is, once she gets over her lack of confidence.

- Learning; Melissa loves to learn new things. It is her belief that she should try to learn at least one new thing each and every day, no matter how small. These could be anything, from a new recipe for cooking, to a new spell she can add to her arsenal.

- Magic; Although she's already attained a reasonable level of strength in her magical ability, Melissa is actually a very late bloomer with little knowledge of her power and how she can use it. She's established the basics - that she can turn her memories into spells - but she knows she has much to learn, not only about her own powers but about magic as a whole.


Fears:

- Failure; Melissa likes to learn and is a gifted individual due to how quickly she picks things up. This has, unfortunately, resulted in her becoming a perfectionist, which in turn has made her fear failure above all else. Failure shows a lapse in her otherwise flawless memory retention, something she is proud of.

- Magic; Melissa loves magic and how it has been used to help people flourish and thrive. She isn't naive enough to see magic as all sunshine and happiness however; she is more than aware of the dark side of the magical world. The devastation magic can cause when used by the wrong people terrifies her and, whilst she hates conflict, she would fight anyone who threatened to use magic in a bad way.

Personality: Born in the underbelly of the continent of Fiore and raised in the company of criminals, Melissa has grown up to be rougher and more aggressive than her short stature may initially give away. She's naturally feisty and will take on anyone who she views as a threat to her head on. Her tenacity has led her into some rough spots, but has also earned her the respect of many in Fiore's underground network. That said, unlike some of those connections, Melissa's moral compass is surprisingly well-centered. She has a strong sense of right or wrong in spite of, or perhaps because of the world she lives in. She will fight against something she views as inherently evil and fully support something she views as inherently good, regardless of whether it will involve or affect her in the long run. It is partially due to this that she finds herself without a crew around her; she would rather fight the world alone than fight it with bad people.

That said, Melissa was never particularly good working in a crew. Sure she could work with people for a joint ambition, but she hated taking orders from anyone. On the other hand, should the orders be worded in the correct way and in the correct tone (i.e. convincing her that the course of action was the most beneficial for all involved) then she would fight to her dying breath to achieve it. When it comes to giving orders though...well, she's been known to be a little bossy at times, as well as somewhat argumentative. She doesn't explain things brilliantly first time, so often ends up yelling and screaming at those around her until she gets her full intentions out. People do tend to listen eventually though as she always has the good of the people around her in mind when she delivers those orders.

- Rain; While the weather is what it is, Melissa finds something oddly therapeutic about rainy weather - and it's not just the sound of the rain hitting the windows of her apartment. The wet weather has a way of grounding her when she feels most stressed or out of control.
