Arcadia was really starting to hate trains, and the way they turned her stomach into inside out, twisted and tangled up knots. At least this time, she had talked a couple of her new friends, Sakura and Sofie, into riding along. She'd met them in the East Forest just last week, and truthfully it was more the other way around. Sakura, Kei and Sofie had talked Arcadia into coming with them to get iLacs. The others already had one.
Getting Arcadia to go was the only way their parents would let them go since Arcadia was older and a guild wizard.. Arcadia hoped the parents realized she wouldn't be able to rely on her magic, because she took their trust in her very seriously.
Yet with her stomach turned I in knots, it was more her friends watching out for her than the other way around. One upside to the Neutral Grounds lack of magic, was her motion sickness wearing off in seemingly record time. Arcadia was walking entirely on her own power before they reached the store they were all scheduled to shop at.
Arcadia could see the sign for the store just ahead. She sighed when she glanced back to see Sofie and Sakura both wandering the other way to stare into the display window of a clothing boutique. A sparkly hat unlike any any of them had seen had their attention, and even Arcadia felt the hat's siren pull. She shook it off though, ”C'mon, guys. The store is just ahead. We can come back here later. Your parents are gonna be hella mad if we miss the appointment they set up for us. I mean, we all want an iLac of our own, right? Layla and Jimbo will never let us hear the end of it, if we go back without getting one.”
Sakura sighed and nodded, “Yeah, I guess.. It's just that hat..”
Sofie giggled softly, adding, “That hat is so pretty.”
Some of Arcadia's Dragnof accent and slang was slipping through now that she had grown so at home with her new friends, even in the short time since they first played tag in the East Forest. ”Yee, I know. But we really gotta hurry. Now where's Kei?”
Sofie turned pointed across the street. Kei had wandered even further away, across to the store window of a toy store. Arcadia sighed, and turned to wave Sakura and Sofie on, but they were already half-way across.”Hey, wait up.”
Arcadia caught up easily, but Sofie aand Sakura had wasted no time getting wrapped up with Kei about the most release of a card game. It was whole new set that hadn't even been put out in Magnolia yet. There was no way they'd listen now. They weren't going ot listen to a killjoy, even if she was right. If they wouldn't listen to reason,, then she'd have to find another way to get their attention. Her deep green eyes sparked inmischief before she chanted, “Last one to the iLac store is a smelly Forest Vulcan!”
She turned to sprint toward the sign she saw earlier, trusting the younger kids to answer the gauntlet she had thrown down. She slowed down just enough to keep Kei, Sakura, or Sofie from giving up the race to the iLac store.
The man at the store was a little rude about how close they came to missing their appointment, but guided them all into the back room where they each got to pick out an iLac in the color of their choice. Keipicked a bright red one. Sakura picked out a pink one. Sofie picked out a lilac iLac, and Arcadia's eye was drawn to a frosty blue one for some reason. She was happy to find a little charm to decorate it with on one corner that looked a lot like big sister Nessa's Exceed friend, Sebastion.
