everal centuries ago...Back when Earthland was overruled by the dragons, gods and demons. There was a sole dragon. She was known as Fafnir, the dragon of chaos and war. Her powers gave her control over all poisons. Wherever she went, she would bring about chaos and destruction. Human and demi-humans alike as well as some demons would cower at the mere mention of her name. She cared not for the number of lives she took whenever she brought about devastating destruction. She lived in complete solitude. There was no dragon more powerful than she. Fafnir was without equal and therefore thought all of her kind to be pitiful and inferior. However, there was one dragon that she considered as a comrade. Brynhildr, the dragon of the skies. Brynhildr and Fafnir would sometimes wreak havoc together but that was rare.
One day, Fafnir heard from Brynhildr that other dragons were going to teach human children their sacred art of dragon slayer magic and have them hunt her. This was upsetting news to Fafnir. With some luck, she was able to kidnap a human child and teach them her own dragon slayer. The child's name was Sigurd. He was a young boy who Fafnir made believe that the other dragons destroyed his village and everyone there, when in reality, Fafnir had been the true culprit. Sigurd had come from a small, poor village where most people believed magic was evil and he had been born with magical power which made him an outcast. She raised Sigurd as her own, helping him grow both physically and mentally strong all while instilling in him it was the other dragons fault. Lucky for Fafnir, he'd never heard the stories of her destruction and didn't know anything about the other dragons either. When Sigurd turned thirteen, Fafnir taught him poison dragon slayer magic as well as she implanted a poison dragon slayer lacrima within his body when he was two years younger.
Sigurd mastered the magic at the age of seventeen. Fafnir let him know where the one's responsible for the destruction of his village and family could be found. Sigurd went off to exact his revenge against the four dragons. Vahsti the Astral Dragon, Genbu the Earth Dragon, Sanguin the Blood Dragon, and Irmeir, the White Dragon. He killed Sanguin and Genbu. Vahsti and Irmeir tried to reason with the boy, however, it was to no avail. He killed Genbu then as he got ready to kill Vahsti, Sigurd was enveloped in a strange light. When he opened his eyes once more, he was frozen in place and couldn't even move. What's more was Vahsti stood before him calm as could be for they were now in her domain, the astral plane. Inside the space, Vahsti was able to show what truly happened to Sigurd's village. Now the truth was out and Sigurd deeply regretted what he'd done and pleaded with Vahsti to help him slay Fafnir, the one who used him.
When Sigurd returned to Fafnir, he told her he had taken his revenge. She commended him greatly for his work. However, unbeknownst to Fafnir, Sigurd was planning to now slay her. He waited for the right time to attack which came a few days later. Sigurd took the mighty dragon by surprise and hit Fafnir with one of the more powerful spells he had learned from her, wounding the dragon greatly. Enraged by Sigurd's sudden and unexpected betrayal, Fafnir attacked him, near-fatally wounding him. She told him if he apologized and never betrayed her again, she would save him and let him stay by her side once more. Naturally, Sigurd refused her offer. The boy took out a bright blue stone with purple hues that glowed brightly. It was a gift Sigurd received from Vahsti just before he left to return to Fafnir. Vahsti told him if he gave up the remainder of his life, the stone would seal away Fafnir's soul and her powers into physical vessel and be trapped there for all eternity. He held up the stone and wished with all his might for the stone to work. The stone shone blindingly bright, enveloping both Fafnir and Sigurd.
Eventually Fafnir awoke, she opened her eyes to see all the vibrant colors around her. It startled her a great deal. The dragon felt something heavy weighing down her chest and looked down to see two large lumps of skin and fat. She knew that these were what human women called "breasts". It wasn't just that. She jumped up and trying to fly to the nearest lake but she wasn't able to. Her wings were gone, her dark tough scales were replaced with soft human skin, she felt her head, finding soft long dark hair and a pair of dark horns. She still had fangs but her mouth was that of an average human female. Fafnir couldn't figure out all this could happened. The last thing she remembered was her offering Sigurd a deal in exchange for his loyalty then came a large flash a blue light and that was it. When she recalled that, she looked around for Sigurd to try and ask him what happened. However, all she found nearby was a charred black skeleton wearing armor, in the skeleton's hand were small bits and pieces of what looked to be the remainder of some crystal or stone. Fafnir soon realized that this must have been Sigurd's corpse since the armor it was wearing was the same armor Sigurd had been wearing.
Served Sigurd right to betray her like that. However, now she was stuck inside this demi-human vessel. When she tried to use her magic she was unable to. That was when it all made sense. Sigurd had used a soul stone from the astral plane to seal her soul and powers away. He must have gotten it from Vahsti which means there was no known way for her to regain her original form or her powers. The next few centuries, Fafnir trained herself so she could get by in her new body without issue. As more time passed, she felt herself changing. Fafnir no longer had the power to cause destruction or bring about chaos. Fafnir eventually adopted the name "Jinx" for herself to be known by in her human form. Jinx's personality slowly changed over the years to the point where she began to understand how humans felt and thought. This made her into a whole new person. She regretted deeply every horrible act she committed and wished to do something to atone for everything.
Jinx began to live among other humans and demi-humans, began wearing clothes like them and eventually decided to join one of the wizard guilds that had popped up in the land of Fiore.
