Catch That Bat! [Riza and Soul Rider (aloura)]

Job Requirements: Team must have one D rank mage. Must have spells or equipment that would allow the user to fly,levitate or jump high into the air.
Job Location: Spooky Forest
Job Description: A group of young students decided to get back at their headmaster by releasing his beloved pet Batty, an albino bat, into the spooky forest. One of the delinquents was caught and is to come along in retrieving the pet.
Enemies:
Weak - Wild bats, harmless but they are annoying.
Normal - Wolf, wont attack unless provoked. Attacks move - bite.
Strong - Specter, run away from it.
Reward: 1,750 Jewels

A heavy sigh escaped Riza's lips and she trudged through light underbrush. Damp leaves stuck to her clothes from a light rain shower earlier in the day, and this only added to the mage's discontent. "I can't believe I was sent on some retrieval mission... and for a bat!"She continued mumbling to herself, the only other sounds in the forest being her footfalls and the faint symphony of crickets. She had much better things to do with her time - like take a bath or steal something expensive from a haughty ass of a millionaire. And here I am, in some dull forest with gnats and creepy crawlies... She shuddered at the thought and trained her eyes on the trees. If I find the bat before they get here, all the better!

Her partner for the mundane job was a girl in her guild - aurelia or something similar. Riza wouldn't mind the company, honestly, but she didn't want the girl getting in her way. If she was as slow as molasses, the pair was going to have issues. And if that kid makes this mission drag on... A vein momentarily protruded from her forehead as the thought took hold. It's like I'm some babysitter! She hadn't bothered to pick up the delinquent for the mission; her partner could handle that.

As the sky continued to darken, she kept her eyes peeled for flashes of white - any of them could be the albino bat they were charged to retrieve. "This is going to be a long night..."

Aloura: Al
Aloura walked towards the forest. The Full moon glistened down on top of her, as if it was trying to light her path. "Pyu." said the floating creator, Ero, that Aloura had as a pet. It was flying around, his wings as wide as they could go. He then began flying around Aloura as she began to laugh. "Haha, Hi Ero. Thank you for coming with me." she smiled, being grateful that Ero was joining her. She knew he would follow her any where, but she rarely took him on missions, unless he was truly needed. This quest would require her to fly, so she desperately needed him this time.

As she continued on walking, she began to see a boy, around the age of 12 or 13, so a few years younger then herself, walk down to the same point as she was headed. The boy had on a red baseball cap, a red un buttoned shirt with a black shirt under it. He was wearing cream colored, baggy shorts and red shoes, no socks. "Hey, are you Shiro!" she yelled out, wondering if that was the boy who was meant to help her with catching the bat. The kid turned around, a bit timidly, but shook his head yes. "Can you not talk?" she asked the boy in curiosity. The boy once more shook his head in agreement.

"Well that odd." she stated. "Why would the principle send a mute to help us with the quest?" as she stated this, she saw someone, a girl with a fan, walk over to the meeting point. "That must be out partner..." she stated walking towards them "Hi... I'm..." she then froze, un able to talk. "I'm Aloura." she finally managed to say after a few seconds of awkward silence.

After walking for what seemed like eternity, Riza found her patience growing thin. "How can it be so difficult to find a stupid bat!" Mentally hissing, she turned on her heel at the sound of people approaching. "Thanks for joining me," she said rather acidly. "Can we please get this started? I'd rather not be out here till sunrise." Her eyes caught the two figures before her, not noicing the flying creature hovering around Aloura, and she squinted to try and see them better, as her eyes hadn't completely adjusted to the darkness yet.

A child... Can't be older than fifteen. A memory of past years surfaced briefly, but Riza quickly squashed the image. Like I need those popping up... Her eyes became colder, but she closed her eyes and ran a hand through her bangs. "Right. Child." Sighing, she briefly held two fingers over both her eyelids, moving them back to her sides after a few seconds. Switching her gaze to her guild mate, she nodded. "Riza," she said shortly, giving a weak smile. "Nice to meet you."

Nervous tingles swirled in her chest as she turned her attention back to the boy. She crouched to be at his eye level, resisting the urge to ruffle his hair. "Think you can help us find this bat?"

The timid boy gave a quick nod before moving away from Riza and taking a few steps farther in the forest. He paused, waiting for the older two to take lead.

Riza took a deep breath and stood, brushing a few leaves off her clothes. "Let's get a move on it."

Aloura: Al
Aloura could tell that Riza wasn't used to meeting new people. She had a thin layer of patients, and Aloura was memorizing all of this, From Rizas hair, to her cloths, to her facial structure. Even her personality so far. She then smiled at the girl. "Lucky for you," she started off. "I know just how to find it." as she said this, her pet, Ero, leaped in front of her. Unfolding his iron like wings, making them there normal 7 foot long wing span. She then stepped on top of the wings and smiled. "I'm sorry, but there isn't enough room for the boy, so you will have to take him." she stated smiling, then flying up into the sky, using Ero like a flying skate board.

"Now, a bat..." she muttered. "An albino bat none the less. Luckly he is albino, and it is night. So it wont be hard to spot him. Now, normal bats like the tops of trees," she then looked down towards Ero, pointing her head upwards, telling him to go higher up into the sky. As he did, Aloura looked down, looking at all of the tree tops below her. "Ok... So, which tree is it?" she asked, looking down at the ground. As she looked down, Ou began talking to her.

"An Albino bat, how odd." she mentioned. "Do you think that we could turn him into cloths? or boots?" she asked Al. "What?! Of course we can't!" she told Ou. "Ugh, well, obviously not right now. I mean after we catch it!" she mentioned. "Even then, no. We have to bring it back to the client!" she shouted. then she covered her mouth, realizing she had just yelled, thats when she noticed the rustlng of the banches underneath her, and a white bat flying out, running away from Aloura. "I found it!" she yelled trying to chase after it even faster, hoping that Rka was behind her.

"I'm sorry, but there isn't enough room for the boy, so you will have to take him."

Riza's eye twitched as she heard her partner say this. Great, I get the kid. She peeked at the kid from the corner of her eye, his profile dulled from the lack of true light. After a moment, Aloura took off atop her winged creature (something Riza was intrigued by, but she kept her interest in check for the mission's sake), and Riza was left alone with the child. Silence ensued, seemingly enhanced by the chirping and various insects. The elder woman coughed and shifted from foot to foot. "Right," she muttered, looking towards the depths of the forest. "Stay close to me and don't touch anything."

She started forwards, occasionally glancing at the being beside her. He stayed quiet, adding to Riza's discomfort. Normally, another warm body in the vicinity made her feel at ease (if shit went down, at least she wasn't alone), but this boy probably couldn't even put on a band-aid properly. Right? He's a dependent being? She blinked. She had no idea what the child could or couldn't do, but it's not like she was going to start testing his capabilities. Best just keep him out of trouble, Riza...

She heard faint screeching in the distance - something she assumed to be from Aloura. As if to confirm her suspicions, she heard the girl yell , "I found it!" "C'mon," she told the boy, scooping him up in her arms easily. "We've got a bat to catch." She helped the boy maneuver to a piggyback position (a little difficult due to his awkward size), then jumped off the ground, jumping once more off of a tree trunk to help build momentum. Instead of outright flying, as she may have done were the circumstances different, she took to leaping from tree limb to tree limb, catching up with Aloura in a few moments. Aloura was a ways above her still, but Riza could see her creature's outline and flashes of its pink coat.

An animal cry sounded to Riza's left, and she moved a little faster, hoping creatures wouldn't jump out at her (or her into them). Unfortunately, something did appear.

As Aloura turned around for a split second, just to make sure that Riza was following her, she realized that she was in fact following her, but then she got distracted and flew downwards. "Wh... where did she go?" she asked as she turned back around, it was then that she saw something coming.

"PYU!" yelled Ero as they hit a tree branch, causing the both of them to not only lose site of the bat, but to crash land on the floor. As Aloura got up she realized that her landing was much too soft to be the cold hard ground. It was then that she looked down.

"Ero!" she yelled only seeing in the dark that she had landed on something furry. "Ero are you ok!" she asked leaping off and looking down. Just then Ero came flying our from behind a tree. "Pyu?" he stated in confusion. "Wait a minute... If your there... Then Whose that?" she asked turning back around, seeing a hungry wolf charge at her. She then lifted her bow, using it to block the bite. She the attempted to kick the animal, which was a failure as it managed to dodge it, however, Aloura loaded her arrow, and shot at the wolf. Although the shot wouldn't have been blocked, it missed. "Damn it!" she stated as the wolf looked at her with the intent to charge.

Riza quickly came to a halt, annoyed that the job was to be delayed by something as ridiculous as wild beasts. The two wolves were beneath her, but they seemed to eye her maliciously. They won't be able to hit us from here, she reminded herself. A moment later, however, a thump sounded a short ways ahead, and the two wolves turned their interest to the easier prey. Squinting through the trees, Riza could barely make out the outline of Aloura and her pet. Riza clicked her tongue and slid the boy off her back, easing him onto the sturdy tree branch. "Stay," she commanded, forcing him to lean back against the branch. "If something goes wrong, just yell for me. Keep your balance and you should be fine. I'd like to think there are no radioactive bugs in this wood..." She trailed off, but the sounds of snarls snapped her attention back to the pressing matter of the wolves.

Riza hopped down from her position and immediately headed in the direction of the noises, soon catching sight of three wolves. The two new additions snarled as their friend (or so Riza assumed) was attacked by Aloura. Riza's shoulder's tensed, and she rolled them backwards. Along with the lovely feeling of stretching her muscles came the initiation of a spell. A tiny magic circle momentarily appeared between her shoulder blades, causing magical power to surge through her body. With her temporary speed boost, Riza whipped out her twin fans from their hiding place and leaped towards the wolf charging Aloura, attempting to slash any part of his body. Unfortunately, the wolf managed to dodge, but Riza hoped it gave Aloura time to move. Sliding out of the nearest wolf's range, Riza turned her eyes to the other two beasts that looked ready to pounce.

(OOC: Sorry about the lack of die roll (>.<) Still getting used to the concept~)

As Aloura watched the the wolf, circling her like a preditor hunting its prey. As she watched it, the wolf began to growl. She was startled. She then raised her bow, and loaded it with an arrow. "Please just leave me alone, i dont want to hurt you or anything else for that matter." she stated, watching it continue on running.

As Aloura watched the Wolf, it charged. Aloura let go of the arrow, and it shot the wolf right in the shoulder. It yelled in pain, but continued to charge forward. It was obviously starving. It opened up its jaws, and started to attempt to bite her. She then took her bow, diverting the bit. As the wolf was bunted off to the side, it quickly turned back around, trying to claw at her.

"I'm sorry!" she said lifting up her hands, pushing the wolf on its back in an attempt to block the claw. As the wolf quickly leaped back on its feet, it whimpered in pain as it leaned on its bad shoulder.

"I'm sorry!" she yelled as the wolf turned away. it then began to limp off. Alouras eyes began to water as she reminded herself that she just hurting a living animal. "I'm sorry..." she uttered once again. She then looked up, she realized that she didn't see the bat.

"Ero!" she yelled out, watching as her pet flew down. he then landed in front of her, and once again, she stepped on the iron wings.She then flew back up in the sky, flying above the tree tops, and looking down onto the ground. "Where are you now..." she asked, scoping the area for the bat.
