Balthazar ... It was time for research day TM. Well, at least that’s what Balthazar would unceremoniously call this activity, making it sound less nerdy than most people would immediately think of when a mention of books and the library came up. It couldn’t be said that reading books and scripts was his biggest passion in life. Hell, not even close most of the time, but looking into things was important. After all, without knowledge, you’d just end up being a flailing dummy. That was why the bat-like man was in the Oak Town on this day, visiting the town’s well known library to look up some further information on fire magic. He certainly preferred learning by doing, but a little written word couldn’t hurt either. Maybe if he were lucky, he’d find something interesting he could try to learn later on. What wasn’t interesting however, was the amount of people that came around to ask him to help them grab a book off of a high shelf because they couldn’t reach it themselves. Honestly, this was one of the times when he almost regretted being really tall, because it was quite the pain to deal with all these random passerby requests being launched at him. People should just bring chairs or something. Wouldn’t that solve the problem? Yeah so… “Yo, if anyone else wants me to ask to grab a book for them, do it now so I can then find my own in peace!” ~~~~ |

blinded by fate ☑ TAGGED: --- ✎ WORDS: 509 ✉ NOTES: --- | Lothric's head perked up at the sound of a voice. She had been sitting at a table this whole time, rather desperately wanting a top shelf book but having a mixture of shyness and reluctance to appear to need help holding her back. She really, really couldn't bring herself to instigate conversation just to ask. The offer.. The offer however was something she could accept, that she could cope with. A small grin. Only she stood up at the offer. A mildly unnerving thought that she was the only one who needed help... A small twitch and she shook her head. This was fine, she wasn't going to get the book any other way. She quietly stepped over to the... Different looking man, tilting her head oh so subtly at his appearance. "That one, top shelf. Right there." She raised a hand, lazily pointing a finger at a larger book. "The Odyssey, by Homer... -Please." Her voice spoke, not quite soft, but yet not quite sharp either. Somewhere in the middle. Her white hair, which was tied up in a long ponytail today, was swept over her missing eye as to hide it from view, but if you actually just looked at her face you could see it through parts in her hair, as well as see the scar that ran through anyway. She didn't feel like getting called out on being monocular, but... It wasn't something she could avoid, in the end. |

Re: Bookish Day [Lothric]
Balthazar ... To be entirely fair, Balthazar hadn’t expected anyone to actually come up to him. His ‘attempt’ at rallying people was in a sense more of a joke than a serious request, because at that point, he had already kind of resigned himself to the fate of being the tall person everybody asks for assistance in a place like this one. People came in randomly as well, and he sure as hell didn’t plan on making an announcement every few minutes or so just to make sure everyone in vicinity was aware of it at all times. Nevertheless, it was still a bit of a pain, but what could he really do about it? It wasn’t like he felt like being rude to people for no reason, unless they themselves weren’t polite with their request. Eh, thank God he had enough free time on his hands to not be truly burdened by this much. He should still be able to- Oh yeah, someone actually did come over though, much to his mild surprise. The bat-like man would glance over the woman briefly, offering a brief faint grin as a greeting. “Hey there. You’re one of the bolder ones, eh? Sure though, give me a sec.”, he’d remark in a casual tone before turning his attention towards the shelves again to search for the book in question. “Hmm…there.”, he’d drag a finger over the backs of a few books before grabbing the one his new companion was asking for, pulling it out as he turned to face her again. He’d glance at the book’s cover for a moment before extending a hand out to hand it over. “That’s an interesting one. You into history or poems?” He hadn’t read that one himself, since it wasn’t quite his forte, but he had a vague idea of what it was about in general. It was a fairly known title in literature, at the very least. Ancient writing and all that stuff. “But yeah, there you go.”, he’d add after with a slight nod of his head. As for the woman’s odd appearances, he did take note that there seemed to be something slightly unusual about her eye from what he could see at glance, but for the moment opted to not say anything about it. Now, he could be the guy who forcefully disturbs a person who might want to be left alone to go read, but not this time. If the conversation kept up for some reason however, it was certainly a point of curiosity to keep in mind. ~~~~ |

Re: Bookish Day [Lothric]
blinded by fate ☑ TAGGED: --- ✎ WORDS: 509 ✉ NOTES: --- | Lothric had to tilt her head back to look up at the... Man. The slightly purple man. She had hardly been looking at him, in fact her eyes were more focused on the book. She hadn't even taken into account his ears, or the tint, and honestly the only reason she had thought of his appearance as strange before was because of his height. No, no, as she was forced to look at him to take the book, lest she slap it onto the floor by accident, Lothric was now noticing his features. Curious. "Yes, yes, I know it's a big book 'n stuff. I like epics. I was actually looking for Beowulf or A Midsummer Night's Dream, but it seems they don't have it here. Odyssey will have to do." She spoke, assuming that he knew all of the stories because she sure as hell wasn't explaining anything. Not worth her time. What was worth her time however. A sigh and she brushed her hair away from her eye socket, revealing the hole in all of it's glory, and even if there was no eye to fill it, it appeared to be intensely focused directly on the man's face, darting around him; facial twitches from her other eye carrying over to the empty one. Hairs were getting in there, though, and it was annoying and it kind of hurt. "What are you?" She asked bluntly without any real regard for how he might feel about it. She had a question, he was answering it. No reason for niceties. Taking the book from his hands she gave him a slight nod as thanks, holding it with both arms tight against her chest. Wasn't like there was resistance. Lothric was genuinely curious though. She'd seen some pretty weird people but this was the strangest by far. He didn't even have a regular skin pigment, it was a light purple. He kinda looked like a vampire or something. A vampire bat? She giggled to herself, even though it was wholly audible. At least she had covered her mouth with her fingertips to do so. |

Re: Bookish Day [Lothric]
Balthazar ... Balthazar would smirk faintly as she mentioned those other books, his sharp fangs showing a little bit. “Sounds like a lotta smart stuff. I’ve heard of the titles before, but never tried reading them. I usually go for stuff I can actually use somewhere later, or more comedy related stuff. Life’s too short to be serious all the time, you know? Though, are the stories interesting?” It was unlikely that he would sit down and legitimately read stuff like that from start to finish, but getting a review was never a bad idea. He could still keep it in mind in case he one day had an urge to go and read that type of writing. Maybe never, but one can never know. At any rate, he would furrow his brows slightly when she pushed away her hair, albeit wouldn’t end up saying anything for the time being as she slapped him in the face with a question first. He’d offer her an amused grin. “I’m clearly a bat. That should be quite easy to see. And I guess a demon of sorts. Whatever works for you. You seem kinda odd too, ey?”, he’d answer, as well as pose an inquiry of his own, in regards to her missing eye. Although, she could take it however she chose to, seeing as he hadn’t specified what he was referring to with his question. He’d lean against the bookshelves a bit as he observed her behavior, finding this somewhat amusing, despite the fact it was eating up his own time here. Well, guess a moment to spare wasn’t too bad. ~~~~ |
