The imagination mage wiped his sweat covered hands somewhat in a worried manner. He had been a part of the guild, Crystal Swan for about a month now but he went into his room and never came out. He was cooped up in there for two main reasons: the first being the fact that he was extremely anxious at the thought of speaking to someone and the second being that he missed his time to say his 'hello' to his fellow guild mates. It was a little too awkward if he had done it now so he decided to stay in his room instead, selling information and playing the games that he had. However, he was now at his door, working up the courage to finally go out into the city to a concert hall. Since Crystal Swan focused on the arts, the town it was centered in was a host to many events, the one tonight was for a music composer who has coincidentally made some soundtracks to the games that he played so he felt a little more obligated to go. Taking a deep breath, the young mage would place a hand on his door as he fidgeted with his glasses, as if the frames could block out his anxiety towards this situation.

Upon opening the door, he'd be greeted with a horde of people as he tried to remain calm in the crowd. Unintentional brushes of hands caused the boy's head to be filled with information on these people. However, considering how no one around him was really that important, it was just clogging his brain more. Evan would clutch his head with one hand as he grabbed a pair of gloves in his pocket with the other. It wasn't cold but the imagination mage had a sneaking suspicion something like this was going to happen and he was right. Muttering a couple of "Excuse me."'s and "Pardon me."'s. Almost at his wit's end with human interaction, Evan would make it to the concert hall in one piece. Physically, that is. Mentally, he was ready to sit down and curl up in a ball somewhere. The young boy leaned against the wall in disarray. Feeling his flushed face, Evan would slide down the wall into a crouching position before hearing footsteps towards him. Placing his head in his arms, he'd be snapped into paying attention by the call of a voice. "Excuse me sir! Are you with Crystal Swan?" Feeling his heart skip a beat, Evan would lock eyes with the pink haired ticket usher. He seemed... nice? "Uh, I mean, I am with the guild Crystal Swan, but I'm not really here on official business. But, since I'm a legal mage, if you require assistance, I guess I'm supposed to help out, but I'm a little bit of a special case, see-" The usher shook his head as he grabbed Evan's wrist and began pulling him into the hall. Evan's face flushed a bit deeper of a red as he tucked himself further into the scarf that was decorating his neck. Ah, what was he getting himself dragged into?

The young man was brought to the backstage of the hall with no pretense as to why he was there. The pink haired usher had completely disappeared, leaving Evan looking around like a deer in headlights. Sighing, the young man would summon a screen where he could analyze some information that the Magic Council had given him earlier. He had to decipher some coding. He could quickly manage. However, whenever Evan worked he quickly became unaware of where he was and what was going on around him. So amidst all the haste in the backstage for finding a filler performance before the composer arrived, Evan made a keyboard using his cybernetic upgrades and began typing away, to decipher his work. Mindlessly responding to questions with "Yes" and agreeing with everything, the only thing that would get get him to leave his selective hearing state was a touch from someone. And with how he reacted to being in a crowd, it wouldn't exactly be a excited expression. It was going to be an entertaining one though.

CAUSE I CAN FEEL THE RAIN
WASH AWAY MY SINS. AND I CAN FEEL THE PAIN

    SEEPING OFF MY SKIN
cause every single time i'm searching for a way i'm always lost and never found

It's not uncommon for the alchemist and his assistants to see another day with a schedule tight to its seams, for their lives had been so defined by time that neither he nor the homunculi ever took it for granted. No one was meant to be left frivolous if there was much to do, and thankfully, today had more than just a handful of appointments to attend to, making it just as busy as any. The morning was particularly eventful as they'd gone to the plaza to scavenge for potential properties, with Antarcticite overseeing the budgets in their logbook and Padparadscha surveying the area in question for any downsides that might prove to be a hindrance later on. Come midday, however, was a problem that threatened to overrule the scheduled balance that they all initially wanted to uphold.

"Master?" inquired the red-haired stone, their expression stiffening, "Have you seen Lapis? I made them get something for me but I can't find them anywhere."

    Of all the-!

Oz responds to Padparadscha's inquisitive tone with more than just a smidgen of bemuse, his eyes searching the gemstone's face as if they'd grown four eyes and six noses. "...Pardon?" he says, one brow arching in disbelief, "Lapis is missing?"

The homunculus moved to indulge themselves a shrug, gingerly palming the slim surface of their nape in what the alchemist could only presume to be concern, their listless persona quickly making place for a defeated look. "...Looks like it." their tongue clicked in frustration, "Tch. That little sneak, should've seen this coming the moment I gave them the Homebound Key."

"You wHAT?!" Oswald spoke, the crack in his normally perfect pronunciation telling multitudes of his slowly shifting mood, "Why in the bloody-!?...ugh, do give me your reasons for handing Lapis the Key, Padpa, you can manage that much can't you?"

"Of course." they said, palming the wooden base of their Obsidian Spine in confident movements, the weapon being thrown over their shoulders in one sweep. Their incredible bundle of red hair weaved like a scarlet sea across their body as they continued, "Over there's a risky looking slope that I wanted to test, so I told Lazuli to head home and borrow a shield from Sir Eliezer's armory, and then-"

"Lapis failed to retrieve it, perhaps, thusly resulting to our older sibling's lack of a return for the last 15 minutes and 43 seconds."

From behind the two, a lighter pigmented gemstone opted to approach the conversation with due notice, their heels lacking their resounding tick and tack against unpaved ground - but they were nonetheless callous in tone. "Master, I'd like to propose one of us retreat to the de Botelle property to retrieve Lapis Lazuli, as this sounds appropriately urgent."

The alchemist would later express his grief for the situation with an inward sigh, a single gloved hand rubbing his temple in light strokes. "That won't be necessary Antarc. If my assumption is the least bit credible, I'd take it they aren't even there. I never did teach Lapis how to properly handle the-"

Regrettably, whatever coherence that Oswald's sentence might have implied quickly died on his tongue as a pair of lithe arms dug into his shoulder blades, tugging him backward into a ring of light that eerily resembled the Homebound Key's portals. To one corner was a familiar, deep blue shine peppered in pyrite spots, circling their head like a thin crown.

"Excuse me, but I'm going to borrow Master for a bit~"

The next fleeting seconds spun through his brain as if played in a slow-motioned blur, the sunshine bending alongside the images of the other two homunculi as their shock briefly lingers on the far end of the portal - until there was nothing left to see but an amalgamation of color and light. The sensation of his body being stretched and dragged at speeds incomprehensible was more nauseating than not, since Oz has yet to familiarize himself to the process of jumping locations. Close to his chest had been what he assumed to be the weight of Lazuli's head as they clung to him, the contact cold and frigid.

Overhead was a prickle of light, the colors muddled and shivering - though if Oz were to take a gamble, Lapis might have not taken him too far. His form were to be reduced into a singular blob of mass and color as they teleported, until it indefinitely materialized at the other end of the portal, where the flood of sights and sounds visibly disoriented him a great deal.

Oswald sported a series of dry inhales and exhales by the time it ended, shaking and sore with his lungs one breath shorter as if he'd been forced to race a marathon and back. Across him, the Homunculus responsible for the experience steadies him to the best of their efforts, propping the alchemist with their hands to support the unbalance.

"Oh, Lapis, you're back!" someone said, though he couldn't be bothered to keep up appearances, not in his current state, "Is this the musician you mentioned?"

The gemstone shifted to a slight angle as they addressed the stranger, their tone surprisingly light and girlish. "Yes ma'am!" they cheered giddily, "He's Mr. Oswald Johannes Croll, and he's amazing on the-"

"Lapis, I beg you, please tone it down..." Oz groaned, removing himself from the gemstone's embrace to sit on the wooden floor beneath them, "Ugh...why are we at the Concertum?...I don't have an appointment here..."

"You don't." responded Lapis, "But the event cannot proceed until the performer arrives, and they have yet to do so. Miss Hummel here was nigh desperate to have a stand-in until her client arrives and..." a pause, though judging from the floorboards creaking, he'd imagine Lazuli appropriated a bend to let him hear their suggestion better, "I'm aware of how talented you are Master Croll, so I hoped you'd give this a chance, please?"

A corner of his peripheral would later be filled with an interesting blotch of brown, green, and hints of gold, a voice addressing him in the most dubious manner he'd ever had the grace to hear. "Um...well..you see, um, Mister Croll...Lapis here told me that you'd been in Crystal Swan for a fair amount of time, and it'd do us wonders to have you as one of our stand-ins." said Miss Hummel, bowing at the waist in a shower of humility.

A second, and rather intense grumble fell from the alchemist's lips as he finally understood the pretense of the situation, tilting his head one way to better observe Lapis and the other woman through his pale white streaks of hair. "...I'd like to have word with you, Lapis." he breathed, "But...your little stunt with the Homebound key appears to have rendered me unable to do so right now..."

Enduring the lingering effects of the teleport-vertigo, Oswald picked himself up from the ground to a stand, relieving the curve of his head from the confines of his favorite hat, which felt uncharacteristically tight at that time. "I confess though...this does feel like something I could manage, if it's for the good of the Concertum..."

Perhaps Lapis Lazuli knew the entire time that, if it'd been a favor for the people running the concert hall, Oswald was in no position to deny, having appreciated the magnificence of everything related to the Concertum across the days he'd come to teach music there. As if prompted, the Homunculus started to beam with delight, this smile a far cry from the cheap ones they presented at every other interval.

"Master is so reliable~" they said, to which the alchemist considered with a shrug before fixing himself a glass of water, the object suddenly manifesting in his hand without so much so as a word or a notice. The brunette Miss contained a barely audible squeak of shock from the event, though his assistant showed no more than a hint of amusement.

As if recalling something of note, the gemstone steals one glance from the girl beside them in piqued interest. "Ah! Miss Hummel, you mentioned another performer, did you not? Shall I go get them?"

The lady, of whom fashioned herself a pretty olive dress, took to the notion with a jolt, her eyes swirling in a panic behind the glass of her gold spectacles. "Heavens, I forgot! Oooohhh, please do Lapis!" she fumbled, only just a bit, her hands wound tightly around her clipboard, "He wouldn't be too far last I recall, maybe check the further left? I think one of the ushers said he'd been male and...um...oh, black hair! Yes..."

Lapis chuckled at an octave most surprising, even for them. The sound felt so foreign that, across the space they occupied, Oz somehow managed to choke on a gulp of water. "Alrighty~" they said.

The Lazuli grinned before meandering off somewhere, purposefully sliding through the stage staff whilst they go about their business. Oh, but they didn't exactly provide an identity to this other stand-in apart from their appearance, did they? Not one that they could remember - perhaps it'd do more benefit than harm to ask someone?

"Excuse me~?" they inquired, addressing a curious-looking boy who'd have hunched over a buzz of interesting...things. Lapis was scarcely versed in this area, so they might as well ignore the technicalities. Still, they pushed, wondering if they'd chanced upon the right person considering this one's physique matched the vague description Miss Hummel had given them prior.

There wasn't any other way to confirm their suspicions apart from testing their hypothesis; nothing much would come from one query, after all. "You must be the other performer they mentioned, yes? You'd ought to get ready."

This was a rather interesting development in all honesty. The client that Evan was being asked to research had an interesting track record and was doing a rather amazing job of keeping his tracks hidden. Pulling up another holographic screen next to him, the young man would begin to continually track all recorded crimes that the man had committed whilst running a scan of all the unsolved crimes within Earthland as well. Doing this, he could look for common threads within the events and see whether they were responsible to more things at the moment. A blinking notification appeared on one of the screens as Evan's blue eyes narrowed. Turns out there was a link to all this.

Smirking slightly, the imagination mage would continue typing as he pulled up information on the most current crime that was available, to the public and in private. The Magic Council wouldn't really mind this in the end because he was solving their problem with this criminal. Once the files began uploading, Evan sighed to himself while looking at the loading screen. Sure, he was good at finding out about people and everything they didn't want others to know but he had a sneaking suspicion that a lot of people didn't want things like this to be discovered about them. The young man would snap out of his thoughts when he heard a notification sound, indicating the data transfer was complete.

Ah, as it turns out, one of the last crimes was committed at the town that Crystalli was ported at so if this thief was really smart enough to cover his tracks, he probably would have chosen to laid low within the flying city and get off the next time they port while they investigate the last town. He probably thought that he was clever but unfortunately for him, the white haired mage was about three steps ahead of him constantly. Maybe in another life he could meet someone who could outsmart him but right now that wasn't the case. Swiping the screens out of existence by simply swiping them into thin air, it would provide a reminder to Evan exactly where he was.

Looking around at the somewhat hectic atmosphere, Evan felt a little bit woozy and made his way over to a nearby wall to lean onto something. Being around large crowds was not a forte of his actually, however performing was easier because he could simply think of it as them being somewhere else while he was in his own world. The young man would let out a surprised sound when he heard someone talk to him. He... wasn't expecting to have to deal with that many people, just someone telling him to go on stage and when that should happen.

The Crystal Swan mage would turn his gaze to see a blue haired humanoid. He was hesitant to call them a female because they didn't exactly seem that human and with a closer gaze with the scanners in his eyes acting a little bit more acutely, they weren't. If he didn't think of them as a person it could make this interaction go by a lot smoother but they were still much too similar to humans to even consider that a possibility.

Evan's eyes locked onto the other person's dark blue eyes, as he heard them say he should get ready soon. Wordlessly nodding while ducking his head down, the imagination mage would summon a rainbow tether within his hand, just as a literal way out of the conversation in case it became too overwhelming for him. "A-ah yes, of course. I can get ready any time so don't worry yourself with me." Evan smiled awkwardly as he walked past the humanoid over to where the director of the performance was.

Summoning a screen full of sheet music, Evan's eyes would quickly gaze over the piece, seeing what he would need to keep an eye out for. Dynamics while playing, key changes, any changes in speed or a Coda so he would know if he had to flip pages. Stopping himself as he saw a white haired man as well as the woman in the olive dress from earlier. The white haired man was someone that the imagination magus had seen hanging around Crystal Swan more and more, but he wasn't quite ready to meet someone from his guild. Too many variables. He can talk at another date, another date in potentially another lifetime.

Attempting to turn away so that he could dodge the alchemist's gaze, Evan would try to sneak out of the room but he wasn't completely able to because he still needed to know where to go. Sighing, the young man would wait in the dark corner of the room, while observing the white haired man. He needed to get the woman's attention without talking to the other person in the room but he wasn't sure if that was possible considering how loud the woman tended to talk.
