The heavy set man barreled through the brick wall, laying in the middle of a paved road with clouds of dust from the destruction lingering about.  He struggled to his feet, using the harpoon in hand for support.  “I must… POON THE SHARK!”  But out of the cloud came a pair of feet that squarely connected with his face.  And as the grizzly fisherman fell the the ground unconscious the one who dealt the finishing blow squatted next to him, chin resting on hand.  “Well that took no time at all…”  Althea sighed, getting up as the sound of several footsteps against the pavement grew audible.  By then the dust had settled and anyone in the port town could see the young girl standing next to what used to be a wall and the unmoving body of the local fisherman.  And apprehensively a gilled head began peeking over the edge of the toppled wall, checking if the coast was clear before emerging into the streets.  “Thanks for defending me, miss.”  The anthropomorphic shark said.  “It's no problem, I didn't have much to do today anyways, so thank you for attracting his attention!”  The Rune Knights had finally arrived onto the scene, ushering civilians out of the premises for clean up, a few giving Althea and nod of acknowledgement before going along with their business.

About to move on with her exploration of the town, something sticking plainly out of the fisherman’s vest pocket coughs her attention.  Reaching down, she picked up a relatively crumpled slip of paper purely out of curiosity and having nothing better to do.  On it someone - most likely the ragged fisherman - had written down a reminder to “Go to docks for job at sun high~!”  in an oddly curly and feminine fashion.  Even more intrigued, Althea managed to piece together that the fisherman probably wouldn't be able to perform the job at noon, so why not her?  After all, she was the one who apprehended him after he tried to impale someone with a harpoon.  Grinning, the water mage walked away, her next task being to guess which dock the note was talking about when she was inside a part town.  Glancing at the sky, she realized it was already time for the job at that moment, so she would just need to guess.  So the blonde raced down the streets with the memo in hand, keeping an eye out for something other than cargo on the docks.

After several attempts to find “the dock”, Althea skidded to a stop in front of a rather worn but simple dock, on it standing three figures.  She walked over to them, guessing that the fishing guy may have intended to go on the job with others, all the better for Althea who greatly enjoyed meeting new people.  And on that dock stood an short old man with a thick beard, bald head, and determined look on his face.  Standing on either side of him were a pair of girls who looked almost exactly the same beside their hair and clothes. [ref]  Each had deep amber eyes and the sandy blonde hair to match, although they carried themselves in dramatically different manners.  Althea raised her bandaged hand to wave at the trio, “Hi, is this the place for the job?”  All of their gazed were filled with mild surprise, the elderly man being the first to speak.  “Erm, yes, we are waiting for one more person for our party… would you be Bill the fisherman?”

“No, she’s not!”  The twin with the longer hair interjected.  “We’ve met Bill before and he isn't some 12-year-old girl!  Right Nat?”  The twin with shorter hair spoke, “Yes Nadia, but couldn't you have said it in a nicer fashion?  I'm sure there's a reason Bill isn't here.”  “Yeah, he got arrested so I’m here instead.”  Althea said plainly before displaying the slip of paper she had acquired from his pocket.  “That's the memo I wrote for Bill!  Okay, I guess we'll be adjusting our plan a bit. Poor Bill though...”  The one apparently called Nat said.  “Adjust?  We literally spent hours coming up with a plan of attack!  Bill was the brawn, Nat, and neither of our magic could fit into that role!  How-”  “I can do brawn if it's really such a problem.”  “You barely come up to my shoulders, how can you be-”  “Nadia, you know you shouldn't judge a mate by their appearance!”  Clearing her throat, Nat turned her attention to Althea.  “I am Natalia Feindaker, and this is my twin Nadia.  We will be your partners during this job.”  The old man, apparently feeling a bit left out, felt a need to introduce himself as well.  “The name’s Old Cody missy, and you best not be disrespecting it.”  “Okay, I’m Althea, but Thea’s good too, nice to meet you!”  The water mage beamed.  “Now, what are actually we doing?”  Nat grinned, her eyes Bright with a giddy, almost childlike, excitement.  “Undercover espionage with a tad of combat and plenty of treasure hunting!”  She declared confidently.

“So, there are many pirates at this moment all looking for a treasure called the One Piece, one fabled to hold great power!  There are many vying for the treasure, by not one is as close to it as Blackstache!  That's where the espionage comes in though, we can't just meander in into a pirate’s ship, especially when he has a fleet at his command, so we first have to sneak into a ship and wait until they dock.  From there we’ll know on which island the One Piece is on, then we’ll follow Blackstache far enough away from his ship as to not cause trouble for when we attack!  According to our sources, Blackstache actually keeps the map to the treasure on his person, so a fight with him is in order.”  Nat rushed through, apparently not having covered the part she was most excited about, a fact hinted by her fast speech.  But Althea wouldn't be left in the dark for much longer, because a smile slowly crept across Nat’s features, eyes bright.  “Espionage means disguises, which means we get to play dress up!”  She squealed, the term “dress up” earning her a face palm from Nadia.

Althea was slightly confused about why Nat was so excited about “dress up”, or why Nadia was so incredibly embarrassed, but that didn’t stop her from gaping at Nat with a half amazed and half admiring gaze.  Nat looked at Old Cody, a pleading look in her eyes before the old man nodded, a sigh escaping his mouth.  Squealing and then moving to hug him, Nat took Althea’s hand and than ran off, Nadia following in her wake. “Okay, so I know this amazing shoppe in this part of Hargeon that have literally everything!  I can’t wait to dress you up, Bill wasn’t so fun because he was a guy, but that isn’t necessarily the case with you, Thea!  Oh, I wonder what role I’ll dress you for?”  The ponytailed girl went on and on until the trio reached the shop.  It was pastel pink with a large sign reading “Sparkling Glitter Peace!”  in a curly cursive font written with a neon pink paint.

Nadia took one look at that sign and stopped in her tracks, “Er, I’ll be waiting outside for you.” She said before leaning against one of the stores many display windows, not that Nat really seemed to be listening.  The sandy haired mage seemed more absorbed in the pure anticipation to start searching through the shop.  And when Nat pushed open the door vigorously the employee behind the counter looked up from their iLac and beamed at her.  “Welcome back, Nat!  I thought you would be out looking for your treasure already.”  “Not quite, Becky, we have a surprise addition to the team.”  Nat answered, moving the hand that previously held onto Althea’s own to pat the young girl on the head.  “Bring me everything in her size.”  Becky grinned, walking to the door to put up the “Sorry!  We’re Closed!”  sign.  Sparkling Glitter Peace! wasn’t a small store, but it wasn’t the biggest one you would ever see in your life either.  It was moderately sized, targeting young ladies who greatly enjoyed wearing dresses of any kind.  In fact, as far as Althea knew they had everything.  Diving suit dress, lolita dress, candy-themed dress, steampunk dress, etc.  And when the slayer watched as Becky and Nat started moving around the store and throwing all kinds of dresses into piles, she realized she would be there for a while.

At first the girls simply collected everything in Althea’s size and then threw it into a pile at the back of the store, then they began sorting through all the dressed see if they could come up with an appropriate role for each one.  Then they began making Althea try on clothes.  In the end, she wasn’t sure how many times she had emerged from the changing room, had Becky and Nat murmur with each other, sitting on a floofy pale pink couch.  Then, they would stop and shake their heads, signalling for Althea to put on the next one.  But, on one occasion after coming out to face the two, they were silent for a while, staring at Althea.  “Erm, you guys okay?”  The water mage said, not quite sure what the dazed looks were for.  Coming to her senses, Nat nodded.  “Yeah, but I think we just found the right dress!”  She exclaimed, standing up from the couch, a smile starting to expand across her features.  “Yes, you look so fetch!”  Becky exclaimed, throwing up her arms out of pure excitement. “Let me grab the matching accessories.”  She said, practically sprinting out of the room, coming back with gloves, boots, and… a staff?  Althea chose not to question it, turning towards a mirror on the other side of the room to see herself wearing a pale blue dress with many intricacies and such [x] before turning around immediately, gaze on the floor.  Nat then took her time to analyze the slayer’s attire once more, her gaze stopping when it reached her left shoulder, left bare by the clothes.

“Wait, you’re in a guild, Thea?”  Althea tore her gaze from to ground to the sandy blonde girl. “Yeah.  What about it?”  “Well, you need to figure out a way to cover it or something…” Nat paused for a moment after further investigation of the sapphire blue guild mark. “Fairy Tail, right?  Then nevermind, you might be able to pass as one of their good luck charms.”  Nat nodded to herself in satisfaction, reaching into her shirt’s pocket to pull out a card before turning back to Althea.  “Oh right!  You may not be aware of what that means, right?” Thea nodded, following the older girl as she made her way out of the back of the store. “The pirate we’re stealing the map from is named Blackbeard, a great force on these seas.  But, everyone knows he’s overbearingly superstitious.  He even believes that thing about women on ships bringing about the gods’ wrath.  Well, he kind of bypasses that one by putting good luck charms on his boat!  Basically, nymphs!”  Althea flinched when Nat said that, but she was too busy paying Becky for the clothes. “The gods typically avoid trying to kill nymphs, so they end up just looking past the fact they’re women on the boat.  And I think you make a pretty convincing one, Thea!  You’ve got all the features down besides the ears, but no one will notice.  Anyways, let’s meet up with Nadia and-”

“Don’t nymphs die when separated from their land?”  Althea interjected suddenly, earning her a confused look from Nat. “No, where’d you get that from, Thea?”  “Pure-blooded nymphs die if they set foot off the sacred lands they were born to protect.”  Nat shook her head, “Don’t be silly, that isn’t true Thea!  No matter how much a nymph is a nymph, they can go wherever they want.”  The slayer opened her mouth to argue further only to close it stiffly, nodding slowly.  Soon, the two emerged from Sparkling Glitter Peace! To see Nadia standing patiently in front of the store, just where they left her.  “We’ve finished!”  Nat seemed to purr, using to same hand holding Althea’s other clothes within a gift bag to wave at her twin.  Nadia stopped her resting, yawning and stretching her arm upwards.  “Finally, I thought you guys would take all day.  Now could we actually start the job?”

Althea, Nat, and Nadia all made their way back to the dock where Old Cody was waiting, the shorter haired twin having a one-sided conversation about how difficult it was to pick something for the young mage.  But right before they did, the twins disappeared into a store briefly, emerging wearing pirate garb, genuine looking cutlasses in the appropriate sash.  And when the trio finally arrived at the dock, they found the old man looking simply sitting down inside of a rudimentary boat while smoking a pipe.  “You lads ready to set sail?”  Althea nodded enthusiastically, practically leaping into the boat, Nat following behind a bit more maturely.  But, Nadia was right where she had been for several moments, slightly dumbfounded.  “Are we… really going in that?”  She said, gesturing towards the extremely barebones boat.  “Yes, girlie.  What did you expect?  It be more sneaky this ‘a way.”  Old Cody replied, purring down his pipe in favor for an oar.  “Now are ye comin’ or not?”  Sighing, Nadia begrudgingly boarded the boat, sitting next to Nat in the back.  “We’re setting sail, mateys!  Remember, wait, steal, plunder!”

But before the group even made it far enough that the port town was out of view, Althea began clutching her stomach while simultaneously covering her mouth.  She completely forgot about motion sickness when she agreed to go on the job.  And following her usual theme, this time was worse than the past instances.  It really made absolutely no sense, but that was the way is was.  But as soon as the slayer began attempting to prevent herself from throwing up, Nat expressed great concern.  “Thea!  Are you okay?  Is the rocking too much for you?  Can you handle it?”  “Nat, she can’t answer if her mouth is full of puke.”  Nadia snapped, aggravated by the fact she was on such a shoddy boat and now the fact that her job partner took a job knowing that they were going to be on a boat and got sick easily on them.  “Shut ye traps!  Blackbeard’ll hear you!”  Old Cody yelled, silencing the sisters and causing Nat to settle back into her seat.  Either way, Althea offered Nat a shaky thumbs up, but not quite able to hold it began puking over the boat for the rest of the trip.

Eventually, the group was able to see a large, dark shape looming over them in the mist.  As they got closer, they were able to identify it as a ship, a  black flag bearing a skull and crossbones on the mast.  And when they were even closer, they were able to see the many equally huge ships in the distance.  “Lads, we’ve reached the main ship.  It’s time ye disembark now, good luck.”  Old Cody said under his breath, Nat and Nadia nodding crisply and Althea offering another thumbs up.  Then, Nadia took a rope and grapple that had been lying on the floor of the boat and quickly threw it onto the ship, motioning for the rest of the party to follow her up.  Althea rode on Nat’s back as they climbed up the side of the massive boat, discreetly blending in with the rest of the crew.

Besides for the fact Althea, who was dressed as a nymph, was having a piggyback ride and looked quite sick.  “Oi!”  One pirate called, causing to twins to stiffen.  “What’re ye doin’ wit’ that nymph?”  “Oh, um, er-”  “She be tryn’ to escape, matey.  We be takin’ ‘er back now.”  Nadia said, perfectly mimicking the pirate’s own speech.  “Alright, bottom deck to ye right for that dere charm.”  He said curtly, choosing not to question why the “charm” had a hand over their mouth as if they were about to throw up, before walking back to his station.  Swiftly, the girls moved to said bottom deck.  “I thought we were about to be found out Nadia!  That was some real quick thinking.”  Nat whispered, Althea nodding in agreement.  Nadia blushed, “I-It was nothing really!  I just did what came to mind!”  And soon they found the compartment of the ship the pirate had spoke about.  “Thea, when the ship stops make sure to find a way up top no matter what.  Just hold on there!”  Nat whispered before opening the door and dumping the mage there.

The compartment was bare of anything but a single square window located high up on the walls and a potted flower and glass of water located in the corner.  The room was about as large as the average bedroom, but 3 nymphs were present inside, all eyes on Althea.  Two of them were apprehensive to openly react to her, but the third did. “Hey, are you okay?”  The messy haired nymph asked, Althea only nodding in response. The nymph let out a sigh of relief, “Thank goodness, I thought they might’ve done something quite horrible to you!”  The slayer took note of her outward age of about 13 and odd accent, but soon fell backwards onto her butt, the swaying being too much for her.  “Oh, sea sickness, right?  I would know, my first trips around I was feeling it the whole way through.”  She laughed brightly.  “Right, you should know who I am before I really begin, shouldn’t I?  Well, you can call me Elodea!  I hope you don’t mind if I keep you company, it’s rather boring down here.”  She settled down beside Althea, making herself comfortable before really going into things.  “You don’t mind if I basically have a one-sided conversation with you, do you?”  Althea shook her head, resting against the wall behind her.  “All we have to keep us occupied is to “tend” that water and plant over there!”  She said, gesturing to the corner.  “I know that we don’t really need anything else but a bit of our natural affinity around, but we’re basically humans, just like them!  I didn’t even really want to ride on this thing…”  Elodea said, trailing off at her last sentence.  “But anyways, my land was really amazing!  It was a sunflower field, but you may be able to guess that from the way I dress.”  Elodea said, going on to detail to the queasy water mage about the place she originated.

That is until Althea simply passed out from her intense motion sickness.

But meanwhile, the twins were having a drastically different experience on the ship than Althea.

Nadia closed the door after Althea, fumbling to lock the door.  “Wait, Nadia, how's she going to get out if the door’s locked?” Nat whispered into her sister’s ears.  “I don't know, she'll have to smash it open if it comes to that!  She's our power here, so she's supposed to be able to do that, Natalia.” The pink loving twin let out an indignant humpf, crossing her arms and voice raising a bit too much above a whisper.  “Well maybe that's because I’m concerned for her!  She must be around twelve or something and we're leaving her locked up in a room with s-”  “Oi lassies!”  A pirate said, lumbering over to them, “Stop standing around arguing and get to work!”  Nadia’s features clearly expressed a passionate scowl, something the pirate didn't take to kindly to. “Oh, ye fine ladies too fine fer workin’?  Then I believe there are two brooms on the main deck with yer names on it, so get to work!”  He said, launching spit only an inch from Nadia’s foot.  So, the teens scurried away up the ship as to not get any more of a punishment from the worn man.

It seemed like several agonizing ages passed while the pair attempted to clean the vessel’s deck, but the moment they thought they were finally finished, something always went awry.  Someone who didn’t make it to the edge of the ship and simply threw up on the deck.  Or maybe a fight broke out, resulting in broken bottles, blood, and perhaps a few teeth.  Once a pirate even lumbered up onto there before passing out and staying there, one of the drunk pirates motioning to clean him up.  When asked why that was necessary, he simply said that the man was dead and would soon stink up the place, so the corpse needed to be thrown overboard.  Nat desperately held back tears and Nadia wore a downcast gaze as they heaved the body over the side of the ship.  And after that, the shorter haired sister collapsed onto her knees, the worn mop laid across her lap.  She unbuckled her gray jacket, trying to cool off after the work, “I’m so done with this.” She sighed deeply, earning a sharp gare from Nadia.

“Oh no you aren’t!  It’s your fault it’s your fault we got into this mess in the first place.”  “What are you talking about?  It was you who offended him with your glare!”  “No I didn’t, he overreacted, I literally only looked at him!  Anyways it was you you put us in the situation because you couldn’t take a chill pill and learn how to whisper!”  Nadia snapped, her voice raising with every word.  Nat looked at her red wearing twin, clearly insulted, before getting up and nearly retreating back below deck.  That is until a third party intervened.  “Well well well.”  A silky, almost teasing voice uttered.  The owner was a snow white haired, well endowed young woman with elegant amber eyes.  She was wearing a proper pirate hat and had a black coat with golden buttons on her shoulders, but despite her beautiful appearance, her eyes seemed cold and lifeless.  “Were you two assigned to clean the decks, because I don’t recall we needed someone on this ship’s crew to fill that role.” Nadia shook her head, “No, we were told to by a pirate below deck to.” she replied carefully, treading the waters carefully around this strange character.  “Well you should know by now that is an impossible task.”  Nadia propped her mop up on the side of the ship, “I wasn’t aware, but why would we be asked to do something impossible?”  The mysterious woman laughed, moving a strand of white hair from her face.  “Lobster Legs just decided he didn’t like you and wanted to flaunt his power over the new parts of the crew.  But anyways come to my room, I would like to have a little chat.” Nat and Nadia shared a concerned look between each other, but both knew it was probably a bad idea to refuse the woman’s demand.  So, they walked with her into what appeared to be a private room, something nearly unheard of on pirate ships.

Golden trinkets and pristinely cut jewels overflowed from a chest located in the farthest corner of the room along with several maps and rolled papers.  An oil lamp provided a sustainable light source and a few documents and riches were stained with blood.  In the other corner was simply a bed that appeared to be used more as a surface than something to sleep on.  The white haired woman proceeded to sit on said bed, Nat sitting on the ground before it hile Nadia ayed standing.  “So, I heard you two fighting.  What about?”  Nadia was careful about how to respond to someone who was most likely close to Blackbeard himself, but Nat didn’t hesitate before speaking.  “Well, you may have already noticed but the two of us are twins, miss.”  “You may just call me Mutsu.”  “Sorry Mutsu, but we’re siblings and are prone to fighting.” Nadia’s yellow eyes narrowed as her sister simplified the source of their conflict as “we’re sibling and therefore we fight”.  No, the issue was layers more complicated than that, and hearing her sister simplify it, to dumb it down and transform it into something it wasn’t.  Her annoyance quickly evolved into an intense agitation and subsequently, anger. Somehow the dam she had built up during the mission had sprung a leak that would soon drown her whole world.

“Nat, you know that’s not it.”  She said through gritted teeth.  “You KNOW that.  It’s you, the way you treat me with your oversimplified outlooks.  I’m not someone you can wrap your head around, and even when you know that you chip off the parts that don’t appeal to you so you can get your slimy fingers everywhere and say ‘I understand’, but you don’t and you never did.”  Red mist clouded her mind and the long-haired twins usually cold eyes were ablaze with unfamiliar yet unrelenting flames.  “Nadia, calm down!  What’s your problem?”  Nat replied harshly, although it was clear she was trying to keep her cool in front of Mutsu.  “There you go again, Nat.  What’s my problem?  My problem is you, the length you know someone doesn’t matter if you don’t know them, I might as well be a stranger your looking at for the first time!”  Nat seemed genuinely shocked for a moment, but soon that became indigence.  She got to her feet, a frown on her face instead of  the usually sweet smile.  “I don’t even know what your talking about , Nadia.  If this is about that, I didn’t even want it from you.”  “Again, stop assuming what I want, what I mean, or anything about me!  This isn’t even about that, it’s about us, stop bringing other factors into this!”  “Nadia, I’m your twin, of course I know-”  “SHUT UP!  And since you want to talk about it, fine.  How dare you take it from me?  It was part of me and I can never have it back, Nat.  Did you ever think once before doing it?”  “I already said I didn’t even want it.  In fact, I hate it now!  You hear me Nadia?  The part of myself I despise the most was the part that was yours!”

Where do the Waves Begin? ♢ Solo Empty Re: Where do the Waves Begin? ♢ Solo

Post by Althea 27th November 2018, 5:31 pm

Althea shuddered as a fresh wave of nausea racked her body, bringing about even more concerned comments from Elodea.  She was actually getting really gosh darn uncomfortable in that cramped space, but the nymphs didn’t seem to mind at all.  Maybe they just got used to it eventually or maybe they just prefered the open ocean over their homes.  Althea was in no place to ask because she was way too concerned with trying not to throw up.  That is until the ship suddenly was violently jostled to the side, making the motion sickness so bad that the young girl made a hole in the hull to puke out of… with her fist.  But soon, the nausea dissipated completely, meaning that somehow they probably weren’t moving.  But that was pretty difficult on a boat which bobs on the ever shifting water, which meant Blackbeard’s ship had probably been beached.  And as she looked around, the slayer noticed that the nymphs were gone and it looked as if a tornado had ripped through the place.  A huge chunk of the ship was just gone, personal belongings were scattered along the ground, and the whole place was just a mess.  Finding that there wasn’t any use staying, she had kicked the side of the boat to make another hole big enough for her to exit through.

And that was when her suspicions were confirmed, Althea finding that the entire place had been turned on its side.  “Well, I guess that’s one way to travel.”  She said offhandedly before taking in the scents of the air.  Almost immediately, she picked up the trail of the pirates whose strong smell heavily contrasted that of the ocean and flora from the forest farther inland.  But either way she got moving, sprinting after it despite her alternate and delicate choice of clothing.  Soon, the young mage had heard the vices that she assumed was them, ducking into the bushes only a ways away.

“Mutsu, this werse not de deal!”  “Oh, was there a deal?  I’m getting rid of that now.”  The latter’s voice was familiar, Althea recognizing it as the summoner she had fought ages ago.  “That’s not yer choice to decide.”  “What are you going to do about it?  Toodles, I’ll be taking my share of the treasure.”  The female’s voice said before a flash of light filtered through the overgrowth.  A large thump resounded throughout the forest, followed by an agitated shout of several curses.  “THAT DAMNED VIXEN!  How DARE she?!  Men, dern’t just stand there, get ye booty!  The One Piece is somewhere in ‘ere!”  It was then Althea finally caught a sight of where she assumed was meant to be where Divide Island’s treasure was.  A previously underground cove with luminescent water, gold spilling from every nook and cranny.  But what drew her attention what her two partner for the jobs that were tied up and gagged just next to several very short guards.  Althea renowned that she could take all the pirates at once, but jeopardizing Nat and Nadia's’ lives wouldn’t be too great of an idea.  She wouldn’t be fast enough to prevent any of them taking them hostage.  Then where would they be?  But that wasn’t a problem because the blonde knew what she was going to be going for.

All in one motion, the water mage leapt straight into the cove’s opening, slid across the ground deep into the treasure trove, and inhaled.  Now, Althea wasn’t all to used to using the abilities Tethys had taught her, mostly because she had done so in a very short amount of time.  But, something she did know was that if she consumed enough water she could do… something.  She had forgotten what exactly, she’d have to go back and ask.  But either way she did so, and it was good for her that the cove’s water’s luminosity wasn’t just for show.  Then, she let out a satisfied sigh before wiping her mouth.  “Hey, that actually tasted pretty good.”  She remarked, sensing all the magic power she had stored up.  “What are ye supposed to be?”  Yelled a pirate, probably that Captain What’s-his-face who ran the whole shebang.  “Well, my hair is blue, I have scales on my skin… pretty sure this is supposed to be dragon force.”  The young girl replied, moving her ribbon to tie her hair up in a ponytail.  “If you don’t get it, I’m the muscle of the mission.”  This reply didn’t seem to sit well with the pirate captain, his already angry face distorting from the emotion even further.  “Well, what are ye waiting fer, mateys?  ATTACK!”

As the pirates rushed her, Althea summoned up a wave to push them back, and although the spell lacked in its usual size because of how they were indoors, but not the power.  Then, she took one of the few that didn’t completely get wiped out and threw them into the other, leaving an impact where they landed.  Next was an odd one, a towering purple and green furred thing, she had never seen a creature uite like it.  But, the slayer simply punched it, causing it to fall over backwards before she used ts stomach as a trampoline to launch towards the pirate captain.  He attempted to put up a guard, but her punch easily penetrated it.  Then she dealt out a roundhouse kick followed up by a punch to the side of the face.

And that was that, all the pirates taken care of.  Althea quickly untied her job partners, allowing them to stand up and gather their bearings.  “Wow Althea, that was-”  Nat began, only to find the young girl collapsing on the ground, blue air fading.  “Yeah, I’m going to take a nap here.  You guys… do whatever.”

To be honest, she hadn't actually used that much magic power during her fight.  unless it was some sort of battle based on endurance, there would be little to no reason why an individual as heavily geared towards hand-to-hand combat as Althea would ever pass out after punching people.  It definitely wasn't because the site the writer was on changed wordcounts to be universal for a rank and they realized they were way over the mark.  I mean, who in their right mind would sign-up for a job that requires you to write almost 12k words for only a B-rank reward?  I mean, you'd also get the swimsuit or whatever, but that was beside the point.  The true reason that Althea was unable to retain consciousness was due to the immense amount of boating she had to endure earlier.  Sadly, while she was fine with combative stamina -- she knew from experience she could fight for at least ten hours straight before starting to lose focus -- her stamina on moving vehicles was below average.  Curses, the weirdly specific weakness of dragon slayers strikes again!!
