How could Theo possibly be in a bush somewhere when there were sweets to be had? Chef Dorgon Samray had a hard enough time keeping the bottomless pit from eating everything he cooked and out of the kitchen. With Lester and Rin present, it was guaranteed he was absolutely in the middle of everything, and causing mayhem. Honestly, the jello man was directly responsible for the gingerbread men being blind, since those candy coated chocolates that melt in your mouth and not in your hand were like crack. He'd been tossing them by the handful every time he passed the container, but he'd not cop to that yet. Instead he just rolled sluggishly from under a metal counter, where the young man had been nursing an intense sugar crash. If only the M&Ms had been his only victims today. Undusted brownies, batter, and cookie dough had all been consumed as the energetic male flitted around the cooking space, dusting Rin and Lester alike with powdered sugar.

"Baking powder? Soda? Why didn't we use powdered sugar?" he asked, as if forgetting he'd wasted most of it pretending to be a snow fairy. Scampering over to said chocolatey confections, Theo snatched one up and gave the topping a lick. "YECH!" spat Theo, just before shoving the entire brownie in his mouth to use the sweetness to offset the bitterness of baking soda. "Yesh...you did ush baking shoda..." mumbled the goofier one of the bunch, wiping the back of his mouth with the back of his hand, resulting in a thin smearing of brownie across his smiling lips and joy-flushed cheeks.

Since he'd deduced that his slayer friend had been right about the brownies, then he must also be right about the cookies screaming and burning to death! Panicked glacier eyes searched for an oven mitt, finding only a towel to toss at his white haired friend so he could clear his eyes. "Rin!" Theo squawked, skidding around the kitchen and creating a hazard in and of himself. Crashing into the counter in the back, he started clanking through utensils and drawers for something to shield his hands from the blistering heat of the oven. "Do you see the mitts? We have to save the cookies! Quick!" the young male cried, turning to look at his love. Perhaps she had them all along? She was helping Lester bake, after all. Following recipes and making something edible was more their speeds, while he could just look at pictures and "sample" their results. However, he had managed to make some blueberry muffins earlier from memory, but those were probably all eaten by now!

Turning around at the mention of her name, Rin tried her best to disguise the fact that her mouth was currently full of sweet confections. This is why she never baked anything at home. She always ended up eating everything before it was even done! Mitts? Save the cookies? What cookies?! Taking a deep breath through her nose, the smell of burning quickly hit her nostrils. OH! That’s right! She had put those little gingerbread men in the oven a while ago, but had been sidetracked by the yummyness that surrounded her! Looking around frantically, the baffled ace tried to remember where she had left those mitts! She was the last one to have them, after all! “Uh... Um...” Think, Rin! Think! What were you doing a few minutes ago?

Then it hit her! She had been using the mitts as makeshift pockets to smuggle her treats with! It was a lot less obvious to shove them in there rather than just grabbing them with her little thieving hands! Running over to the counter she had used as her base of operations, she moved quickly and awkwardly, shuffling things around until she found the sweet carriers, I mean, mitts. “Here! Ah! I’ll be right theerree!” She called out in triumph. Time to save the day! Turning them upside down, sweets tumbled out, scattering themselves about on the counter. She would come back for those later! Sliding the mitts onto her hands, she jogged quickly towards the oven. “I’m coming to save you, my sweet cookie men!”

As the door to the oven opened, smoke came forth, threatening to attack the young woman’s lungs and eyes. Waving her mitted hands around, she attempted to clear it away, letting out a small cough as she did. This was it! The moment of truth! Reaching into the burning depths of the beast, she retrieved her target. Rosy tinted eyes looked down frantically, observing the creatures she had just rescued. It would seem that she was too late... Much too late... They were all a blackish color, and their colorful eyes had melted, causing chocolatey tears to stream down their faces. She had abandoned them in their time of need! Rin could feel tears beginning to well up in her own eyes as she stared at them. “My... My children...” She blubbered, lip quivering. “They... They were so young... Why did they have to die like this?”
