Rina was lost in the sounds of the crowd of people behind her as she was drinking out of her cup of juice like usual. She could truly pick out every single voice in the crowd, listening to each conversation. Although this was sort of eaves dropping, Rina decided that it wasn't that bad. Who cared if someone in the guild was pregnant, or if someone was being cheated on. It was regular news. Either way, Rina wasn't going to budge from the seat that day. She had come up from a job that had pretty much destroyed her energy, and she had also done tons of paperwork the morning of. So, she wasn't really ready to do anything more than just sit on that bar stool. As she rested her head on the bar counter, she heard a loud slam coming from the entrance of the guild hall.
Looking at it, it appeared to be some sort of bird. However, it wasn't frantic like any other bird would be in a group of people, it just floated right towards Rina gracefully. As it landed on the desk, it let down a note. She was guessing that this was something important, especially if someone ordered a bird to fly it towards Rina. However, she didn't have the energy to do something with this much of importance today. She guessed it was emergent, so she thought that there was a need for someone else to do it in her place. Looking around, she saw a new comer to the guild, "Markus Eldridge..." she said to herself. She knew that the had a reputation for getting things done, even if it involved killing. She looked over at him and realized that he was one of the people on the list to receive an exam to get to B rank. So, she called him over and gave him the letter. The second it touched his hand, Rina said to him, "Markus, if you don't know me by now, I'm Rina Everglades. I'm ace of Fairy Tail, and I just received a request from an unknown person to do an unknown task. Once you open that letter, your exam will begin. Doing this request, will show me that you have the ability to deal with whatever's been handed to you. So, open that letter and come back to me once you've completed it. Once you do, I'll set in the paperwork for you to become an official B rank mage."

- The Letter:
- "Dear Fairy Tail,
I have sent my carrier bird to detect one of your strongest mages. This letter withholds a very important request that I could never trust with a dark guild, but can for a neutral guild. I know you guys are mercenaries, which means that I know you'll be wanting some good gold for it. To get this gold, however, you will need to do my task for me and bring back to my carrier bird the item of importance. This request is to go to the silent glaciers. Within them is a secret hideout for a group of bandits. They have stolen a unique antique from my family that I need back. It is a golden brooch with an emerald in the middle of it. On this emerald is a golden engraving with my family's crest. I don't care how you get it back, but I am obligated to warn you that their leader is a strong mage. He will definitely try to protect his loot. Kill him, or just defeat him, I don't care. Just get my back my treasured antique and don't you dare leave a scratch on it.
Sincerely, Darren Evare"
