With the strong winds blowing over the rugged surface of the vast canyons stretching out before her, Kenna couldn’t help but crack a smile at the robust sight of it all. How long had it been since she had last been here? It felt like ages, but in truth only was a mere few months, somewhat more than half a year tops, she reckoned. Recalling her first meeting with the stellar cosmic mage Imai, whom she called her teammate and saw as a little brother, the smile refused to fade from her visage. Descending to the lower parts of the Desolate Canyon, her thoughts seemed to stray towards the young mage, wondering how he was and what he was doing… and whether he’d received her message. Kenna, before having passed the ordeals of Raging Volcano and having become a dragon slayer, had written up a dairy of sorts, telling about her exploits, the things she’d discovered, and about what she was planning on doing afterwards. She didn’t write that part down in detail however, not wishing for anyone to follow her when she was in search for herself or her heritage. No. Instead she’d left out the exact details of it, rather wanting to relay them in person than to give to them in a note. Some might think it to be a joke, after all. The exempt of said message went as such, written on the last page of the booklet, after which the remaining pages stayed blank.

    Log Entry wrote:
”They finally revealed it. Akhator and Avide… or should I say Abraxor now? Well, in any case, they disclosed the information they were keeping from me. Who I am, where I hail from, how and why I died… who I was before that and what had happened for me to become who I am now. They answered so many questions, but gave me so many more to find an answer to. And to find those I’ll be going to a specific location that I cannot tell you about right now, but if and when I return, come f------ " A word had been striked out here, showing signs of having been startled mid-writing. It continued after the scribbled word. ”find me at the place we first met. Where the Canyons hid the remnants of a civilization aiming for the stars. Imai.

    I’ll be waiting.”

It was a simple message, but she was sure the young Sabertooth mage would know its meaning. The location they’d both uncovered, the legends it held… he’d know where to find her. And as she’d written, so would she wait for him there. To show what she’d achieved in her search for truth and answers; the newly-born Dragon Slayer would show the Cosmic mage her newfound strength, her true self, and hope he’d be willing to accept her as she was. A demoness, a royal with a crown but no kingdom to call her own, and a vendetta towards the gods. But before she could turn against the gods she’d need to gain more power, learn to harness her new magic until it became as natural for her to call upon as breathing. In the time she’d spent reminiscing Kenna had finally reached her destination; the cave leading to the secret entrance hadn’t changed a thing, it was as unnoticable as it was noticable… one only had to know where to look. A smile snuck unto the Dragon Slayer’s face as she walked on in further, uncovering the large hole hidden behind a large boulder; although darkness hid its contents from the slayer, she knew very well a tunnel ran underneath. A single hop and she’d sunken into the bottomless dark, falling down without a single care in the world until she landed in a crouched position within a heap of cloth. She emerged from the heap and waited for a few moments to let her eyes adjust to the darkness of the cave, regardless of knowing that further ahead glowing mushrooms would illuminate the rest of the way. What was the use of making a cool request and having someone come to measure themselves with the writer if the writer had injured themselves tripping over a rock? Not much, hence why she waited. Once the darkness had become less present for the demoness she moved on, soon enough being greeted by the soft glow of dozens of mushrooms and mosses, each casting their soft light upon the mighty murals the old civilization had left for future visitors. Again she stared at the stars and the creatures it held… mostly present being the dragon and pegasus constellations, telling the story of how these mythical beings had been the inspiration for this civilization’s religion, legends and core.

Her hands slid over the murals as a flashback snuck its way into her unconsciousness, of the first time she and Imai had walked through these tunnels and gazed upon these drawings, both wondering what kind of mysteries they could possibly hold… and above all else, which truth they held. Kenna’s feet brought her further down the murals, where she saw the ancient civilization itself depicted, with the people worshipping the stars, and a large azure dragon that soared between them. The Cosmic Dragon, said to have founded this ancient city and its civilization, so they’d learnt. Maybe after all this was over they could finally go after this mythical being they called the Azure Cosmic Dragon? Maybe… The tunnel at last made way for a larger cavern, roughly of a size large enough to hold an entire city. Chiselled pillars, houses, temples and staircases stretched before her, yet the slayer knew where to go. She followed the staircases at her left after having walked down the main road, carefully leaving a trail of burning firepits to lead the way and show she was already there. Up the staircases, past the temple and then through a large gate at the top of the hill. From there on out the scenery returned to its simple self; no more carvings or murals, just plain walls leading to another cave, stalactites hanging from the ceiling almost everywhere and in the middle of said room a giant, 50 feet rectangular standing stone. Cracks riddled the surface from head to toe, the cracks were a lot denser near the foot of said standing stone, as if someone had smacked a weapon or fist into it in an attempt to destroy it, but had failed. It was within the fist-sized dent that Imai had encountered his Pegasus, his Celestial companion and weapon in times of need. She tapped the stone and smiled.

This was where she would wait for her dearest companion to show up.

Where she would challenge and release upon him the truth of her being, and the power she possessed. But that, she didn’t know… not yet.

[B-rank Exam] A Blazing Coming of Age! Empty Re: [B-rank Exam] A Blazing Coming of Age!

    Post by Imai-chi 4th December 2017, 11:10 am

It had been quite a while since Aura had taken off to somewhere. In the meantime, little Imai only did his best to keep his pace up after everything that had happened; from executing and completing requests given to his guild to cleaning up in his little home. Everyday stuff, just like casually. Sei had also felt a change, though, as something bothered him during this sweet private time that he got now… he never realized it earlier, but this feeling prompted him to change himself a little. How and why was absent context that he couldn’t dig up yet, but the feeling was there. Unfortunately, it only distracted him from his daily duties, and many people even noticed that during the day.

His room. It was cleaned up perfectly, which was distant for the cosmic wizard. Even he found it weird that, all of a sudden, he didn’t feel like maneuvering through spilt clothes and pockets on the floor. It felt almost like he matured into a person who kept things ordered, but that wasn’t the only thing that left him speechless. His own occasions at home was different from what he suddenly began noticing outside when he was among other people. He was more self-conscious than back when he met Kirara. Back then, he made a complete stranger into a life-long friend in two minutes… maybe he was overreacting. Everyone could change like this in specific days, right? Right? That was what he convinced himself in order to calm down again, because it was really getting to his nerves to think about. Sei had instinctively clung to his back in worry over all his confusion, and first now had Imai noticed the little creature. “O-Oh, Sei…” he addressed the alien ever so heartwarmingly, “… Sorry, pal. Did I worry you too much?” Sei began humming low-toned voices of anxiety, in which the star wizard nuzzled its head with a finger. It was to soothe the tension that had built around Sei’s heart when Imai questioned his change in person.

It was also now that he found a message outside of his door. Having been lost in thought, it took him entirely by surprise to find a piece of paper on his doorstep. “Huh?” he let out in curiosity, picking up the paper and reading it thoroughly like a casual civilian… it was from Aura, his dear elder sister from Sabertooth. The paper mentioned a few things; however, it was written with a very shaky hand writing, especially at the end. Akhator… Avide… Abraxor? What was she talking about? Did Aura refer to other wizards or to other beings? Akhator sounded very outlandish in his ears, in all honesty, so it only led the little Imai to yet another sea of confusion. Continuing to read, he read words up like something happened to her and her lineage… and a place where she was waiting for him. The canyons where they found hieroglyphs and remnants of the ancient civilization. The way that she had written it surely began to worry the young wizard to the point where his hand began trembling a little whilst holding the paper.

The canyons… he clearly remembered the pain that it took to get up here. The walls of the canyons were tall and vertical, and if you didn’t get a good grip on the rocks, then you would most certainly fall. Luckily, Imai had all odds in his side, and climbing up didn’t take as long as back then. Sei was sleeping a little during the climb, but the cosmic wizard had finally reached the top in record time, rapidly dashing towards the entrance of the cave. He remembered a bit about the direction that he was going to take, because back then, light had been quite an issue to find way through the cells. At one point, his foothold suddenly disappeared, though, and he felt like soaring downwards all of a sudden. “Crap, crap, crap..!” he let out as a bluish light emitted, him trying to soothe the fall damage that was about to hit him.

Fortunately, the fall was somewhat soft enough, and his feet weren’t sore from the impact. Around this cell, mushrooms began to light up where he had to use his own light, and many flashbacks crossed his mind now. As he moved across the way, he made it to a larger cavern where an enormous wall was located along with other decorations on the wall that seemed to emit light as well as the mushrooms that functioned as lightbulbs. Ah, how nostalgic… and she stood right there. By the wall where a large hole was found, the same hole where Imai received Pegasus.

    “Aura…”

Imai! The ravenhaired demoness’ replied happily as she heard her youthful younger brother’s energetic voice resonate through the air between them. Somehow, after not having seen the youth for such a long time, his voice managed to soothe her so much; the little anxiety she had felt had faded and she couldn’t help but feel her heart fill with joy, the energy brimming through her every pore. Imai Uchuuken, her fellow teammate alongside Luna Jaeger, and someone who she called brother although not related by blood. For a moment she was overcome by the stinging sensation of sadness as she was reminded of her deceased lover, upon realised that without Mashyuu she would’ve never had gotten the chance to become as close to the young man as she was now. ”Even this I owe to you, my dear…” she thought to herself as she turned around and stared at the ground for a few moments, her feet already carrying her closer to Imai before she even looked up. ”I’m so glad you remembered where to go! You have no idea how happy I am to see you right now… how’ve you been?” Her arms had wrapped themselves around the young mage before she’d realised it, hugging him so tightly it seemed as if they’d been apart for years. Her restlessness had settled as soon as she’d verrified his presence to be the actual thing and not an illusion of the mind; she figured that deep inside there must’ve been a part of her afraid that Imai wouldn’t show up at all. But he was here now, and that was all that
mattered. She let go slowly and looked at him. Had he grown taller in those few months they’d been apart? It did seem like it.

”So much has happened lately… but where do start?” A silence followed, though lasted only shortly before her golden eyes flickered intensely. ”Perhaps from what I wanted to explain in the message I left for you. About who I really am… allow me to show you.” Kenna said, stepping back a bit more. A pillar of flames erupted around the ravenhaired maiden, and clinging unto her body as it lessened, focussing upon certain sections of herself; her hair blazed, and ate away at the upper layer, changing dark hair to a pale white. Her golden eyes gave way for blooded crimson ones, deep as a ruby’s, and her pupils elongated, as if bright yellow strip. Upon her forehead the flames gathered on both left and right, blazing shortly before they disappeared and revealed two large edged horns, a brighter crimson mixed with obsidian near the ends. At the base some odd carvings in a yellow hue adorned said horns, as if they were the tiniest rivers of flames thriving through the horns’ hard surface. Whatever remained of the flames upon her body were flicked aside by the Sabertooth mage, leaving her in her regular attire but showing her younger brother the true Kenna underneath. She gave him an apologetic chuckle and inhaled deeply, staring back at him with her demonic eyes. ”This is who I really am. I didn’t know either, not until Avide told me, saying that previous transformation was only a corrupted one. So, allow me to introduce myself once more, now I truly know who I am and where I hail from…” Kenna said, taking a small bow at her younger brother. ”My name is Aelin Kenna Calanthe di Endovier, of the Ashen Bloodline, and heir to the Martyr’s throne. Daughter to Caradhras Calanthe di Endovier, the assassinated Demon Emperor of the South. And wielder of the Fire Dragon’s flame, whom has become my newest mentor now I’ve gotten a new chance at using magic.” And, as to strengthen the meaning behind her words, extended her hand before her, making the flames within the fire baskets and torches erupt highly into the air, as if each of them had become a flamethrower. Just as quickly, together with the falling of her hand, the flames died down to their regular sizes again. She smiled amusingly and watched for Imai’s reaction, waiting for him to ask questions or comment about what she had just relayed to him.

”As to how I got the chance to rise again as a dragon slayer… I got ambushed. In search for my father’s heirloom, the sign of his legacy that I needed to retrieve in order to be accepted as his daughter by the other demons, I found my traces leading back to my origins. Did I ever tell you where I first awakened after having died, Imai? It was within the bowels of Raging Volcano, chained to a sacrificial altar not knowing who I was nor why I was there… and now, knowing the answer to all those things, I decided to return there, only to find more than I had bargained for. An ancient dragon, named Jigoku, who’d made the volcano his home, and a portal leading to what I thought I was searching. But it was an ambush, laid out by demons who were against my father and his ideals. They sealed my magic with a fake artifact and left me crippled, unable to cultivate my magic… and if I were to try, I would destroy my mana pool and any chance of wielding magic altogether. Which also happened, as I forced Jigoku to give me part of his magic… but he was nice enough to restore my mana pool by making me the wielder of his knowledge, and became a Dragon Slayer, blessed by his fire.” She smiled, playing with a little flame betweem her fingers. ”Afterwards I came straight here, waiting for you. Imai… I’m grateful you came here. You’re the first I wanted to show this new development to.”

[B-rank Exam] A Blazing Coming of Age! Empty Re: [B-rank Exam] A Blazing Coming of Age!

    Post by Imai-chi 25th January 2018, 2:31 pm

Her voice quickly echoed back to him after he expressed her name. It was a little shocking, but at the same time very affectionate. It showed just how close that they had grown as guildmates, and as siblings. He assumed the amount of pain that she must have gone through in the meantime… yeah, the pain that they both suffered. That was also strange, because when he saw her look back at him in joy, the pain smoothened quickly. He could see it on her face too, but she also smoothened a little as she approached him. “Well, your writing sure improved-“ he joked for a brief second, until he was enveloped in a sweet hug - sweet but strong too, “… I-I’ve been fine, don’t worry about me…” He was blushing a little, it really shook him how much she had missed him. Then again, they both needed their time to recover after such an incident… it was only expected from both parts, wasn’t it? Especially for her as she was closer to him…

Due to the news, Imai had instinctively sought his home back at Shirotsume. There was no time to dash around when you faced events such as these… and nothing but the voices of that big guy soared around his head at that time. He was saddened to the point of wetting his eyes, yes, but at the same time, he felt not much need to grieve over it with such heavy feelings that would surely destroy him from the inside. At first, he felt like a monster without feelings… until he began remembering just what Mashyuu used to tell him. About being strong. Wasn’t that the case, bro? You favored a strong spine going through the worst times instead of breaking down to the weight. And again, when the young boy compared himself to the big brother of his, then he could only wonder how much that the Earth Slayer had gone through. In fact, he kept himself inside his room remembering all their adventures, because he knew that going through everything that you had done with a specific person would heal the wound caused by the loss of said person… if it was just that simple…

His tears had overflown in the embrace of his confused yet worried mother who hadn’t even gotten to know what the issue was. Living by themselves, the parents and Koguma, in Shirotsume since Imai’s departure, he casually sent them lots of postcards and letters about his accomplishments and bragging about the adventures to his little sister. However, they hadn’t heard of the death of someone from his guild. He only told them so after a while of letting out what he held back for so long to his dear mother…

“… My God…” his mother breathed whilst having her hands cover her mouth in shock, “… Ooguma… Imai, I’m so sorry…” The red-haired boy was simply looking down at the floor in grief, he barely wanted to talk about it now. However, his parents deserved to know of the incident. Koguma was tugging onto their father’s side with a worried look on her 6-year old face. She didn’t understand why, but seeing her big brother so sad - a very rare phenomenon given his careless, optimistic lifestyle - it also killed her inside like a knife darting through your skin. And that was just by watching him in tears…

It had become night. Time passed by like a wasp escaping your ear, it was frustrating and too sudden. Imai was found on his bed, having his face buried in his old bear pillow with stains of tears revealed. It was so unfair for him… for Kenna… of all things… and it was too early to depart from him. He felt that the world was being a huge oppressor right now, pushing him to a corner in the blink of an eye. And surprisingly enough, his sister had entered the room in all her worry, checking on why her big brother was having such a bad mood. Her parents had informed the little girl that he had lost a friend, but something still poked her curiosity, in which she tried to cheer Imai up the best way she knew; by hugging him. Suddenly, she lashed her hands up on her brother’s back and held tight, giving him a cute hug to see if he would feel any better. “… Koguma..?” Imai whispered out to the little girl, turning his face up to see her happy face, “… What am I doing… letting myself worry you, that’s selfish of me.” A faint smile grew on his lips, but it looked rather pathetic in the end. His sister, although, responded with a big smile too. “Big brother! You lost a friend-“ she stated ever so carelessly, “-He must be hero! Hero!”

Kenna did send him a message, now that he thought about it again. As thoughts of the late past passed his mind, he had hurried over here in such a rush that he forgot the containment of the letter midway, so she had to remind him again. About who she really was… it was about her true identity, he assumed… wait, what exactly was he thinking now? Was she… wait, he had to think this through. The real Kenna… was her, wasn’t it? What was she hiding? The only true change that he noticed at first glance was her magic, but magic changed day after day in such a frequency that he found it unnecessary to pay any attention to. Although, he never asked himself this, but what lied behind his sense of magic? He could clearly see something more bright and fierce in Kenna than, perhaps, a year ago, but that wasn’t the only thing that caught his glimmering eyes. She slowly stepped back, promising to show just how much that she had changed, or rather, what exactly she had hid away all this time. “I’m pretty sure that I know you well enough… but uhhh, hey! If it’s some kind of burn mark or pimple on your butt, then I ski-“ he was about to comment, but alas, his words were cut short by the sudden pillar of fire that rushed upon Kenna’s position. Imai had to cover his forehead with an arm to wipe some sweat off, because that was some extremely hot temperatures! It changed from, like, 15 degrees Celsius to around 50! Also, that could explain his previous scanning; the bright colors inside of her were, in fact, blazes. And another thing changed too, her hair! It was bright and white, completely contrasting in comparison to her charcoal-black hair earlier. “Oooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!” he let out in the voice of a freaking fangirl, yes, a fangirl even. Her eyes had changed into blood-red, shiny gems, and two larger horns grew out, born in fire and manifested in a black substance. “Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!” he moaned even louder, even holding two fingers to mimic the growing of horns on her head. It was all way too much for the wonder-obsessed star wizard. Her transformation, damn! It was like a volcanic eruption, and his eyes saw nothing but fire by now!

As the flames scattered in such an eye-catching fashion, Imai slowly turned his gaze back at Kenna. She… she was still herself, wasn’t she? For a moment, he considered sweating in worry, but her chuckle approved her presence; so this was what she was… white-haired! Nah, literally everything else felt different, too. She looked more demonic now, resembling Itsu’s evil energy in her transformed state. Although, it felt more ravaging and aggressive than scary. Also, his mouth was wide-open; mind his manners, he just couldn’t react enough to what he just saw. “…A-Ahh, ohhhhhhhhh…” his voice just darted out, and even though he was losing breath, he just couldn’t stop breathing out. And in the meantime of his bound state, she introduced herself as if it was their first encounter. And her name was, if he was right, Aelin Kenna Calanto da… Endiver? Yeah, that must’ve been it, because it sounded way out of his capability to remember…

She was also a heir. Wait, she was of royal blood?! That sure surprised him as well, why did she hide such a lineage?! And as such, his inner question was answered immediately; she hailed from none other than an actual Demon Emperor. Was that the factor of her demonic heritage? It sure appeared to be, and it was the only rational conclusion, but how could he ever know that? His boots were shaking in awe just by her changed hair color! “… Huuuuuuuuh?” he spoke up in confusion, “Wait, wait, let me get this straight; you became a Dragon Slayer by now? And you’re a demon… that’s… a demon who’s a Dragon Slayer, and royal as well… Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!” That was, frankly, it for his mind as it decided to dip out and leave Imai in a state of, what, ecstasy? Had he glimpsed the pinnacle of the Otherworld, already? His eyes were almost melting, crying even, and his smile had grown to that of a joyful kid again. His childish natures skyrocketed, became his very phenotypes, and clearly showed just how much of an impact that this was. If there was one thing that he treasured, then it was memories… and this wouldn’t be forgotten anytime soon.

“… Haaaaaah,” he breathed out as he tried to grab his breath again. The constant ‘fangasm’ had emptied his lungs completely, making them feel like the size of golf balls. “I… I don’t know what to say… I’m real, I don’t know any words which can express the- HOLY HÖLLE!” His nose emitted steam as he dashed his face up in amaze, completely contradicting what he was just about to say. “… Uhm… oh, I know!” Now that she had introduced herself to him once again, why not do the same? “*cough*… Greetings, Aelin Kenna Calantaeto-something… uhh, di Edo- I mean, Endovier, of the Ash Bloodline, and royalty. I am the entity, Ooguma Uchuuken, more known as Imai Uchuuken.” He made sure to make his voice that of an authorized individual, but other than that, he was joking around like never before, “… Hah, this is unreal. You look awesome. Everything is awesome…” And with that, he landed on his back, looking up at the sealing as if he accomplished life…

The dragon slayer smiled amusingly at the hyped expressions her younger counterpart and went wide-eyed for a moment as he suddenly dropped himself to the floor, seemingly panting heavily. Struggling to pronounce her full name, which she too had done so many times before being able to let it roll of her tongue like it was the shortest name on Earthland. But she wasn’t gonna tell him that… not yet. ”Ooguma Uchuuken… Imai. Yeah, it’s indeed a lot to fathom, even for me. But I’m glad you’re accepting the true me, though I’ll still remain the same Kenna, as always.” She smiled gently and stared up at the ceiling for a moment. ”I wonder what Mashyuu would’ve thought of all this…” Kenna said silently, allowing a moment of silence to fall as memories of the past started flashing before her eyes. The nice ones, the hilarious ones… and the dreaded ones. The ones that still haunted her mind even though she’d managed to give them a place in her life and accepted it.

That very moment he disappeared before her eyes, turned to even less than dust by a primal god she’d sworn to defeat. A mutual enemy of all Sabertooth members, and a reason as to why she now understood and shared the same hatred towards gods as Akhator did. From that time onward till the very moment before her change of magic, Prometheus’ remnant soul shards had made her relive that moment of agony. Over and over again. The pain. The sadness. The helplessness. And now she stood here because of it; renewed, revived and brimming with a power she still needed to learn how to properly control. Another smile unconsciously crept upon her lips as she stared at the ceiling together with Imai, unaware of the dozens of orbs that slowly pulled themselves out of the nothingness and took form around them; small, harmless and bright, but most of all, many. She didn’t notice how they’d came to be despite them being created through her magic, her awareness of the flaring ethernano within her. Had her magical activity been put in a shard it would’ve shown as a constant, rapidly-descending and rising line, equal to the unstabilizing of her emotions hidden within those few seconds of thought.

A darkness took over her slowly as the corruption hidden within her manapool surfaced and spread across her magic; unwillingly taking control of something she should be able to control. Focusing on one thing and emphasizing one single feeling… and emotion she’d once lost. Her lust for battle. ”You know, Imai…” She said with a sinister voice as she slowly walked out of his line of sight. ”I wonder… no. I have to know. About you. Your prowess…” A pair of fiery wings sprouted from her back as she stood there with her back facing towards the cosmic mage. Simultaneously a similar pair of wings would sprout from Imai’s back, granted by her magic as her magic’s control started to haywire, the changes easily to be noticed if one would focus on them. Kenna’s hand arched into a massive claw that usurped her right arm as she turned around to face the young redhead again, her pupils dilated to a thin line, the white of her eyes pitch black, staring at him with a feral hunger. ”Show me!” A demonic voice exclaimed, sounding as if multiple people spoke at once. From behind her even more will-o-wisps started to appear, each and every one of them immediately flashing towards the highest point of the ceiling before they started their descent towards their chosen target, all in a mere matter of moments.

Kenna, however proud she once was, was no longer herself, lost to the corruption of her magic.

”Of course, you will..!” he ensured himself and her. Dragon this, demon that, it was Kenna that stood before him and nobody else… wait, would this make her some kind of Demon Slayer too? Or was it purely Dragon Slayer Magic that she learned? All these mixed, mythical beings in one lady such as herself tortured his brain even more as every knit of curiosity within the fat sack in his skull was loosened. Aarggh… he’d have to take a nap after this. It was simply too much to witness at once, even for a guy who wished to witness everything nice and magical. However, there was one thing that they both knew about very well, a thing that they both had to endure as time passed… yes, he would have surely loved this about her. Either that, or Mashyuu would have gotten extremely jealous at his friend- wait, they were dating per Itsu’s words - lover’s newfound strength that seemed to approach his. Imai could see the face form in front of himself, all grin and a shattered pride… that would have been fun… but at the same time, Imai could see it in her face, so he wanted to ease it out for her in his own way.

“I bet that he would’ve gotten soooooo jealous…” he assured the royal demoness. She appeared as hurt as he was back then… it was obvious to him. She was much closer to Mashyuu, so it was reasonable to see a greater grief in her than in Imai who quickly forced himself to say goodbye to his big brother and move on - just as Mashyuu adviced him to do in the hardships of life. However, he couldn’t but feel that Kenna felt something else… something more than grief. Although, he didn’t go further with that thought as his eyes caught the presence of orbs around them. Small, radiant and almost delightful were they. The balls of light were most likely caused by her new magic, but… she didn’t show any reactions to it. Oh well, he could always come up with the first and best reaction, in which he let out: “Woah… fancy, but I’m pretty sure that Dragon Slayer Magic is more than shiny balls dangling around.” He chuckled a little after that… and that was just before he caught the feeling again. It was her magic…

Ever since his mission with Kirara, Imai had gotten a very close connection to magic. He was specially attuned to it for some reason. The only object or reason that he could connect that statement with was the strange, old wizard who kept poking around here and there. It was the same guy who taught him the meteor spell back at the inn job, the same guy who helped him atop the Tower, it was always him around… and now, thanks to whatever, Imai could see Kenna’s magic power raise and fall constantly, each time raising and falling even more than before. And at last, something that he hadn’t seen in Kenna before enveloped her magic power like a hand holding over a candle. Her cheerful, discreetly sad voice was switched out with a deeper, almost gloomy voice with a selfish intent. It was almost as if she had snapped and wanted to kill him.

“My… prowess? Don’t you mean power? I think it’s called- pfffft!” he suddenly spoke up, only to cut himself short by the pair of fiery wings of fire that erupted from behind Kenna. Was she serious? Right now? And before he even got to reply, his back suddenly felt a terrible heat as he moved forward in a sudden jerk, barely getting caught by the sudden fire carpets that soared behind his back. “K-Kenna..!” he let out confusingly, “A-Are you sure that this place is, you know, compatible-“ As he tried to ask, things suddenly turned slow for an instant and the world around him turned into a white-bluish blur.

“My, my, she’s all fired up, they say…” a familiar voice commented. Imai had but to turn to the side in order to face the same bearded wizard from before. He had gotten used to the random pop-in’s and pop-out’s, but the mage seemed more curious in the worldly affair now than before. Not that he never wasn’t, though.

“Take a look at the ceiling, Imai. You, of all people, can recognize the pattern, right?”

Moving his face upwards, he faced the ceiling decorated as the night sky. Whoever lived her in ancient times were good to decorate the cliff walls like that… and the dots resembled star constellations! In fact… if this was Kenna’s doing - which he wasn’t sure of yet - then maybe there was something more to this request for battle than he thought before. The dots could fit the Azure Dragon for all that he tried to imagine… but time ran out, and the dots began approaching him in form of blazing orbs.

“Show me!” Kenna roared as the spell rained down towards him. Man, she wasn’t being herself now, was she? Was this some kind of side-effect from Dragon Slayer Magic? Imai hadn’t seen this problem before… or had he… now that he thought about it, Mashyuu showed signs of having trouble controlling his magic when they first went out on missions. His God Slayer Magic corrupted him in some minor way compared to this, though… maybe she was experiencing the same. In that case, he would repeat his treatment from back then and beat the corruption away!

The dark energy was visually visible by now… it was taking a huge toll on her. As his body lit up in a blue blitz, Imai dashed in all directions to avoid the orbs that fell upon him. “Kenna!!!” he roared, “You don’t know how eager I’ve been to fight you… but I’m no weakling, I tell ya!” Upon approaching the Dragon Slayer, a black fog leaked out of his skin and rapidly covered the area around the two of them. “Nebula..!” The fog sent chills down his spine, but that was nothing compared to its purpose upon the target; a cloud of stars as cold as the vacuum of space…

Her body shivered as Imai returned her words with a bellow of his own, simultaneously dodging all of the orbs rained down upon him. The sharpness of his voice. The eagerness the dragon slayer noticed within his eyes as he drew closer. Kenna found herself regaining some of her sanity, that in the back of her mind watched the battle unfold, unable to move her own body. Like a visitor; she had become aware of what was happening within her, but couldn't free herself from the clutches of her primal desires. Her body was surrendered to the whims of the darkness within herself, it fought on its own, instinctively, but crudely. Unable to think rationally. She felt it in every nerve of her body, how her body and magic alike went haywire through the simple carnal desire of pugnacity. Her body halted as a dark fog appeared before her, empowering the shiver that ran through her veins.

It was cold, and as it grew she found herself growing tired, similar to the fatigue that fell over an athlete as his adrenaline faded after having ran a ten kilometer marathon. Her dark eyes flung themselves over the fog's surface, barely able to see what was happening around her. A growl escaped her lips as the demon within her stared into the abyss that was Imai's Nebula, unaware of the beauty it held as it showed the stars that one could not perceive with the naked eye. Kenna's sane mind however did notice, and remained flabbergasted at what power the young cosmic mage had mastered in the time they'd been separated. Her body kept on walking through the black fog in search for Imai, but had to stop several times, a face contorted in pain. The pain however only added to the desire to fight, making it all the harder to suppress the corruption and regain control of her body.

Her eyes sought for her target, for the Cosmic mage responsible for this slight pain. The one her pugnacity wished to confront and battle... Kenna inhaled deeply, picking up Imai's scent amidst the fog. Her eyesight had been deducted, but not her sense of smell. A blazing aura fired up around her, fluctuating around her like a storm and slowly but steadily turning golden. "Karyu Hishou--- HAAAAAAAA!!!" A bestial roar took over her voice as a giant roaring dragon appeared from within the energy, growing larger as it blasted forward at a dazzling speed, aiming straight for the young red-headed mage. While the dragon was soaring Kenna didn't move an inch, and instead watched eagerly for the dragon-shaped energy to reach its target.

This cloud put a lot of weight on Kenna’s movements. From within the star cloud, he could inspect her heavy movements and decide his next attack. I should make sure not to hurt Kenna too much… she’s not like herself anymore, he thought. Something unholy ravaged within her that she didn’t tell him about earlier. It was most likely not expected by herself too, so… was she still Kenna? Or was the demon-stuff screwing her over right now? Did it happen before? Imai had a feeling that it happened before. Maybe it was back when they captured Lilith… huh… it was a prompted feeling, but he couldn’t exactly nail the exact scene in his head… oh wait, what was going on again?

His eyes almost fell off his head as he saw something golden blaze up inside his Nebula. W-What was she planning to do now? Now, her ‘dark fog’ was suddenly overshadowed - or ‘overlit’ - by the yellow fires that stung through the star cloud. He could feel the heat from his spot now as he held up his arms. “Shit, shit, shit, shit-“ he cursed under his cold breath as Kenna released a huge, golden dragon at the star mage. It teared through his Nebula and aimed directly for him. With its speed, it was but a brief travel until the dragon of fire impacted with Imai’s present position. It would appear to brake with the impact and begin to incinerate whatever it hit… but he was safe, to some extent…

Both hands pointed forward and opened, Imai had a reckless trick; what if he, instead of trying to evade the dragon, parried by using a black hole? He hadn’t tried it yet on spells of this magnitude, but it was worth a shot. The golden fires began getting sucked into the rather small hole that he opened in front of him, but it was slow and indifferent compared to how much fire there was. Maybe… maybe it was too reckless..?

Oh well… if that old man wanted to help before, then he may as well help now…

“Old man..!” the star mage called out in the middle of the firestorm. His voice was sharp and loud, most likely reaching even the walls behind Kenna. The ancient one reacted to his call and heeded to the rescue. “A… helping hand, eh?” Imai begged. He was getting sore in his fingers now, so luckily, the old spirit volunteered. By stretching out his arms too, the old wizard made a visible entrance for a brief moment - a very brief one - before the flames suddenly got sucked into the abyss in an instant. There, the vast blaze of a dragon was absorbed… it was tough. Imai even fell on his knees afterwards.

All he hoped was that Kenna wouldn’t notice the white hole behind her that would release her own spell against her…

Is it a sin to seek the truth
    Kenna Terrynhain
    The truth beneath the rose

Forgive me for what I have been

When the dragon disappeared, Kenna’s corrupted eyes grew wide in astonishment. In disbelief. It’s presence had even left the room completely and not dispersed, if so the latent magical remnants would still linger around them… but instead, it had vanished. As if it had never existed in the first place. The demoness bared her teeth and stared at the young red-headed mage, unable to comprehend what he’d done aside from that booming voice earlier. She snarled at him and took a step forward, glaring at him menacingly as he fell to his knees, seemingly exhausted. ”You--” she growled, raging eyes pinned upon the youth as black fire spiked around her in short, small bursts.

Then, the presence of the dragon returned…but its fluctuating energy didn’t resurface where she’d expected it to do so. Instead it came from behind her. But how? As she turned to see what was actually happening Kenna could feel the surging heat upon her back, and as her point of view shifted, how its warmth spread across her face. The demoness stared into the large black hole behind her, that beamed with an eerie sensation as the warmth erupted from it. She stared her own spell, shaped as a golden dragon, dead in the eye, too flabbergasted to react properly upon seeing the threat being released from the large void space. The next moment the large golden dragon rammed its way into the demoness, sending her flying across the room at neck breaking speed. Kenna came to a rather abrupt halt against the ancient mural, leaving a large dent as she sunk unto the ground, her mind dazed by the impact and a trickle of blood running down the corner of her mouth.

Her vision blurred for a moment, leaving the maiden panting against the natural wall as she tried to push herself back up, only to slump back unto the floor as the effort failed. Her body felt weak. Tired. Exhausted even, as if all vitality had been drained from her every pore. Her eyes fought the darkness that overcame her, but she felt how she was slowly slipping away into a state of unconsciousness. Within the shadows of her mind she laid on her back, staring up at a sea of stars above her. Groaning, the maiden sat up, mumbling to herself as she looked around her trying to make out where exactly she was. Yet she did not have to look far to find she was not alone in this plain of existence within her mind. What she saw was an exact copy of herself, riddled in dark flames and blood-red eyes. Kenna squinted her eyes as she got back unto her feet, looking at the one she dubbed Nemesis for the time being. Nemesis seemed to smile a wicked grin, and snickered at her. ”Took you long enough to get in here. It’s nice to see a familiar face… or so I’d say if I actually meant it.” Kenna growled softly at Nemesis, who seemed to get even more amused than she already was by the demoness’ reaction. ”What are you?” Kenna exclaimed, not wanting to dwindle in this mental realm. ”Oh, cutting right to the chase, are we? How interesting… seems like you already realised it, didn’t you? What I am.” Nemesis paused for a short moment before replying to her own question. ”Your true self. Your potential. That’s what I am, Kenna. I am what you could become if you wanted.”

The demoness shook her head and glared at the shadow of herself, her ‘true self’. There was no way in hell she’d allow herself to fall to such an extend, to lower herself to a level of bantless murder and violence for the sake of violence. ”I don’t need such a potential if it means losing my sanity over it.”A growl rolled out of her being as she took a more cautious stance. “Everything has to pay a price for power, and you know it. Another’s life force, your own. An eye for a surefire way to win, for example…” Nemesis smirked, letting a burst of the darkness shockwave towards Kenna. ”Give in! Wield this pow-” Nemesis’ words faded as she stared at the white hair in front of her, and golden eyes that glared deviantly at the shadow. ”Good thing I don’t need nor want your power. Now go back from whence you came, and don’t you show yourself again!” Leaning her entire weight into the large sword that now penetrated her ‘true self’ ‘s abdomen, she pulled back a bit and slashed through it, dispersing the shadow from her mind. The next moment, Kenna found herself barely opening her eyes again, being blinded by the shallow light within the room she’d first found herself in.

This was reality again. She tried to sit up properly again, and winced as the pain in her head and body started to throb like crazy, a sensation of cold running down her skin. She shuddered softly and tried to find Imai. ”I’m sorr-” Kenna winced again in pain. ”sorry you had to see that, Imai… I’ve no idea what came over me.” she apologised, still sitting slumped against the wall. ”How long have I been out cold?”

His fabled black hole managed to do the trick. On his knees, he saw the raged expression on Kenna… or whoever that was. It was most definitely not his sister figure… not at all. The lovely Dragon Slayer was but drowning in a phantom of another one who claimed her appearance, but he couldn’t make himself believe that it was truly her. “You’re… you’re not really yourself,” Imai spoke to her, “… The real Kenna would see this coming.” As his words surged towards her ears, so did the fierce fire dragon that came from behind as a black hole tore through the plane of existence, bashing into the surprised Dragon Slayer as she faced it head on. Did she not know anything about black holes? Black holes were theorized to have a white hole somewhere in this plane of existence or somewhere else, connecting the two without any means to be severed. So was the bond between the star wizard and the raven-haired youth… he couldn’t but scream out her name in hopes of a respond.

She looked… almost dead. Hurrying over to her, he checked her pulse, her breath, her body temperature, everything… she had the signs of a living person, thankfully. Did he cause her a concussion? How much mana did she pour into that spell of hers? Merely watching her like this… it kind of tore him apart. No, no, it was ridiculous… he just knocked her out, nothing more… but he feared for her life. Would she leave him someday, too? Would she depart from this world because of him? Because of whatever was meddling with their reunion? He couldn’t bare the possibility. Wiping the sweat of worries off his forehead, he began shaking her, poking her, all means to wake her up - as hormone-driven as he was, he refrained from taking advantage of the situation because of formality and… well, the worst time of all. Then again, maybe she would wake up instantly, and he would save her life and all- no, no, brain, get real!

Literally swinging her back and forth in worry, he tried to reawaken Kenna. His face was drowning in worry, but as she suddenly began wincing in pain, he let her go and jumped back. “K-Kenna…!!!” he yelled in relief, then suddenly embraced her like never before, “Kenna!!” His eyes were beginning to shed tears, he was so damn worried of her well-being.

“Damn, girl… you scared the living shit out of me!” he complained like that brat he was, “Like, I didn’t know that you were a Dragon Slayer, but that was nothing like- wait… y-you have no idea? How come?” Seriously? Given the whole demon thing that she had going on, he could deduce it to the theory that… maybe her demonic heritage wasn’t entirely beneficial?

“… 54 minutes and 43 seconds. 44 seconds… 47 seconds… you know what, let’s go back to AoS, shall we? I’m thirsty, and my soda is missing me.”
