Private Drachma, the land of dragons (Part 1)

Post by Quill Scorchwood 16th June 2018, 11:56 pm

During Quill's daily workout, he had received a letter addressed to him, it was by rift runner so it was something important back home in Drachma. From further exam, it had the emblem of the empress so Quill went to his study to read it, it read,"Dear royal dragon guardsmen Scorchwood, you are to return to Drachma as soon as you can by Cloud glider. You may bring some companions along but I recommend bring those you trust, the reason being is that I would like to know all the information you have gathered during your travels. If you do not return to your homeland you will be marked as a traitor and be hunted down by the elite guard. Signed, Empress Kaliyah Drachma." Quill had prepared for this day. He had gathered all the items he needs to summon a Cloud Glider then open up a portal and when someone asked whats he is doing he quickly said,"Summoning a Cloud Glider, going back to homeland for a while, be back in a while." While he was preparing to summon this massive wyvern which took hours to do, he then heard some people behind him and the sound of bags, waiting for something.

Wearing a white t-shirt and desert camouflage shorts with boots, Leona hefted her backpack onto her back. It was time to go find a job. Or, it would have been had she not spotted Quill. He too looked like he was preparing to travel somewhere. The open portal was also a clue.

Suddenly she was struck with curiosity.

"Hey Quill, how's it going?" She asked him. She took another look at the portal. She had not seen anything like it in her life. It looked interesting and vaguely intimidating.

"Looks like you're about to take a long trip. If I may ask, where are you going?" Leona asked her guildmate. It was probably none of her business. Still, she would ask. Maybe he was in the mood to explain.

    Leila Vergious ❃ H-rank ❃ Silver Wolf
Another day, another set of responsibilities and things to do. Thankfully, there was no official assignment given to Leila today, which actually meant that she could focus on things that were much more interesting to her. This, to be more precise, meant meddling in the affairs of Silver Wolf. Once again finding herself in her office, the girl looked over a magical map that showed the top of the mountain they were positioned at. There, she could not only see where exactly the guild hall was, but also the position of all the runes that were ensuring the everlasting storm all around the peak of this mountain did not level them with the ground.

The barrier was still holding up and generating heat as it should, ensuring that everyone in this place could go about their own business as if they were anywhere else rather than freezing their fingertips off. But recently, she had also discovered a certain runic combination that could ever so slightly enhance the power of this barrier. While the boost was minor, it was still worth implementing. Any and all boosts could eventually help them survive an assault of outside forces, which made the work well worth it, even if the attack would never come.

And so the girl set out to have a little walk around the mountain, putting the new ethernano particles into the carved magical runes. But as she was doing so, she noticed something in the distance. Or rather, someone. It appeared to be Quill, one of her guild members. And next to him appeared to be Leona. It was a bit hard to tell from this distance, but her enhanced senses and magical reading had yet to fail her. And seeing how the boy seemed to be setting something up, the guild master grew curious herself. And hoping that they weren’t planning to blow this mountain to smithereens. And so, she decided to slowly approach them, wondering when they would notice her.

Is it a sin to seek the truth
    Kenna Terrynhain
    The truth beneath the rose

A little mayhem never hurt anyone

Phoenix Mountains; the epitaph of a large mountain chain nearly rivalling Mount Hakobe's, yet so much vaster than what she was used to. The ravenhaired maiden stared down the everlasting white mountainside from atop Avide's broad back, holding on to a single extending tendril so she could peer down the depths beneath her without much risk. Not that it would truly matter if she fell down, as she had her own wings to fly if need be, but it would be an annoyance were Avide not to notice his rider had gone missing. Nevertheless, what had brought her to this particular place was the sightings of a Kekai Kotaki, a giant horned feline beast that roamed snowy mountaintops for reasons unknown. This creature had piqued her interest, and as her current lifestyle deemed of her, she had set out to find it. Only actually finding it was proving far more difficult than expected.

Kenna groaned and rolled back unto Avide's back, having the dragon usher a warning to her as she did so carelessly. Avide was in fact not just a mere dragon, but a demon shapeshifter tasked with guarding the young heir's well-being in her late father's name. Which also meant a lecture left and right every so often. Patting the hard scales, Kenna reassured her guardian and right-hand man. "Don't worry Avide, I won't fall down so easily. I just can't seem to pick up any sort of trail that could belong to this Kekai Kotaki... did you sense anything off? she questioned, feeling the large dragon shake his head in denial. "Not a single ounce that seemed out of the ordinary. You're sure we're going the right way? Shouldn't we be skimming Hakobe's mountain range instead?" The ravenhaired maiden shook her head in turn. "No, my source definitely said the Phoenix Mountains... I think." "You think?! Kenna, for Caradhras' sake, get your damn focus str--

Both demons pulled their heads towards a certain point in the distance as if stung by a bee, and ushered the same unspoken words with held-in breath, not needing to speak them to know what they wanted to convey. An irregularity in the ethernano... large on. Avide batted his large wings a single time and sped up his pace, now soaring over the flanks as the visibility lessened due to an overly dense amount of mist. Kenna crawled up closer to Avide's neck so she could look at what was ahead of them, but was surprised to find that the mist was clearing the closer they came to the source of the irregularity. "Up! We need to get higher quickly." she exclaimed, having Avide skyrocket upwards almost horizontally before the mist had properly faded and visibility returned. As the ravenhaired maiden once again looked down to ascertain her position and the environment below her, she was left confused to see that there was no giant beast to be found down below. Instead a large building stretched out over the area, and she could make out small dots wandering around in the vicinity of the building. "What the...? Civilization? In this godforsaken place? Hmmm... well, I'm gonna check that out." she mumbled as she pushed herself upright and carefully walked over to the dragon's wing. Avide frowned and turned its head to see what the demoness was about to do, and protested as soon as he realised what exactly it was she was gonna do. "Kenna, don't you dare j-" The dragon mentally facepalmed as the demoness took the jump into the deep..Oh just fucking great, she jumped. he growled underneath his breath, looking down at the rapidly descending figure beneath him. That's why he hated stubborn humans. And although no longer human, Kenna still fit that specific group of individuals to the T. Avide mumbled some incoherent insults in his native tongue, deciding to stay above the clouds and out of anyone's line of view in case the ones down below would prove hostile.

The cold air cut into the demoness' pale skin as she descended like an arrow, fully tensed and straight to swiften the fall. Her thoughts wandered off to how she would introduce herself, and only then came to terms with the possible facts they might react hostile to her. "Well, there's no use worrying about that now." she muttered to herself, seeing how the ground quickly drew closer and closer still. Kenna back-flipped mid-air to readjust her position and blasted wings of pure fire from her back, using those to halt her rapid descent and allowing her a less leg-breaking landing. Still the impact proved a bit more violent than she'd hoped for, as she just downright slammed into the snowy underground on one bent knee and a clenched fist to keep her somewhat balanced. "God fu-" What followed was a series of incomprehensive foul-mouthed vocabulary as the ravenhaired maiden stood back up and shook her hand back and forth, trying to make the pained sensation leave her dominant hand. The fiery wings remained burning upon her back, giving off a gentle warmth that got the snow around her starting to melt. The demoness' eyes quickly took a gander at those present and gave them a sheepish smile. "Uhh, hi! I come in peace?"

Neru possessed no interest in Quill to any capacity expect to make sure he did not become a threat to her once more. Leila had promised to prevent such danger from taking hold once more. Having been wild for so long she just could not easily believe one she-wolf was capable of that. 'Even if she's a damn fine she-wolf.' The guild master was definitely within the types that the rabbit found herself hunting after often. Someone strong was always attractive to someone who spent most of their time trying to better themselves. Considering the attraction it was near the she-wolf that the succubus first appeared. Wings opened the girl was using the trait to soften her landing from jumping several meters in order to catch up. "Snowflake"that seemed like a decent nickname. Neru was taking steps in order to grow closer with every female in the guild. Nicknames were a reasonable step and she really wanted to be close with the wolf.

Quill was in a rush, and said,"In rush, going back to homeland, summoning Cloud Glider. If anyone is coming then get some cloth ready for a overnight trip, DRACHMA WAIT." As he said that he fires two rounds of his Sandman near the two new people and said,"Sorry, nerves." Once he was finish with the prep a massive Wyvern appeared and landed where the summoning stuff was. It had a building shape structure on its back, then Quill went up to its head and greeted it with a hug,"It has been a while old friend, I need you to bring me back to the capital, I will be bringing some people with me so let them on. YOU stranger, you can come if the guild master allows it. Everyone on, we are living in 5 minutes." Once everyone gets on, the wyvern takes off at sonic speeds.

Leona suddenly felt uneasy when she spotted the giant dragon. So they were going to fly to Drachma? On its back? Exposed to the elements? Leona was going to be in for a rough ride.

The blonde hated heights. She really did. However, it could not be helped. She would have to stay in the center of the dragon and not look down. Hopefully it would not do any acrobatic maneuvers that would make Leona look down.

Leona thought about racing back to get her ram dao, but it would take too long. They were about to depart in five minutes. Besides, she did not have a sheath or scabbard for it. The people of Drachma might frown on open carrying of weapons. The large sword would be safer here.

Leona had packed extra clothes, extra food, extra water, and even her desert cloak. She was ready to go. She had all the supplies needed for an overnight visit.

"I'm ready to go." Leona confidently stated.

    Leila Vergious  ❃  H-rank  ❃  Silver Wolf
One moment she was just trying to work with the local barrier, the other things started to take on the strangest of turns. Truly, as she was observing Quill and his work along with Leona who was also watching from distance, a familiar voice found her ears, prompting her to turn around. Snowflake? “Huh? Oh, I guess I haven’t told you yet! The storm raging around the barrier seems to be somewhat magical in nature, never truly fading away. The barrier constantly lets a bit of snow in, so the snowflakes are always falling from the sky here despite the warmth generated by the barrier.

The one who said the word was Neru, of course. The bunny who joined recently. And once again, the guild master misunderstood what she meant. Though as she turned around to face the bunny, she noticed something else falling from the sky. A girl, to be more precise. And from the magic that she could sense, she was not alone. Another being was still some distance in the air. Along with her introduction and sketchy mention of coming in peace, Leila started to question what was actually going on. “Anyone can visit this mountain. So if you’re actually planning to do harm here, I suggest you leave.

That was really all she said to the stranger, her magical presence of an H-ranked mage surely speaking for itself when it came to warnings. And before she could turn around, yet another thing happened! Quill summoned some sort of… drake? It looked a good bit different to the usual dragon found in Earthland, or at least Fiore. “What in the… do you really have to be summoning things like that so close to the guild hall?” She said in a worried voice. That thing was pretty big and if it were to crash into the building, some damage would definitely be done.

She approached it carefully, observing the creature. Though she did not get on. She really didn’t need to, to be perfectly honest. Even if they would leave without her, she had the ability to warp to wherever they were going in pretty much an instant. She just wanted to make sure that nothing would go south all of a sudden here, as several unknowns quickly entered the equation and she wasn’t exactly sure how to feel about all of that, especially when happening all at once.

Leila stayed behind as everyone got one, as everyone who was going got on Quill said,"Okay, these are the rules while you are in my homeland, One stay near me, Two if you want something just ask me, Three do not talk to anyone other then the people in the group, and finally Four do not look or talk to the empress, you will get executed if you do. I am not joking on any of these so follow them. Now get some rest, its a 8 hour flight and you will have travel lag if you don't sleep." Quill then pass them all a sleeping bag from a closet in the travel building on the back of the Cloud Glider, after 8 hours they had arrived in Drachma. The city they had landed in was the capital city of Hydra, it was full of people and some that had the looks of a dragon or even dragon wings, most of them had weapons on them. The city it self was very beautiful and full of life, many kinds of dragons could be seen and some were even being treated like pets.

OOC: Since we lost Leila, I will only put that little part in so she has a way to leave the topic. Also I ask that you post ASAP so the topic can keep going.

Leona listened to Quill lay down the ground rules. She was puzzled as to why Quill would have to be their go-between. She was especially puzzled as to why looking at the empress meant execution. Drachma's people were strange.

"OK." Leona said laconically as she set down her backpack and dug out her well-worn desert cloak. It was thick enough to make a decent blanket. It would do for the trip ahead.

Eight hours later Leona woke up. They were now in Drachma. It was time to follow Quill's lead and keep quiet. She silently put her desert cloak away and stood up.
