It was a nice day in Sakurmori. The cafe she decided to treat Poko and Yuvon to was in great form today. A nice little tea house style with traditional snacks. It was where she went for inspiration when she got a magical fish to try and prepare. She had ordered a few odango and was picking up the tab for the other two. The elegant chef sipped her tea before letting out a small sigh. It was days like this that she lived for. Good food, quiet peace, and fair weather.

She even dressed casually for the trip. A nice blue yukata with a wave splash theme to it. Her normal leather gear was not really appropriate for this place. She was even wearing tobi and geta to complete the look. She looked over to her guild mates, wondering how they were taking their perfectly quiet day with absolutly no fighting or weirdness. Absolutly nothing bad will happen today. She forbids it!

Yeah that wouldn't work. A small thunderclap came over the city as something came down at them. The city was seemingly under attack. The general populace was already scrambling for shelter. While they weren't a Legal Heroic Guild, Mizumi wasn't the type to let a location she was in get unfairly attacked.

When Mizumi had invited her out for a day of relaxing in a cafe, Poko was certain not to let the opportunity slip by her. Going to a cafe always meant one thing in her mind, delicious, mouth watering sweets. The blonde haired girl had basically skipped all the way there, dressed in her usual getup, a pair of pink shorts, her army patterned shirt and her favourite turquoise hooded jacket. She had also selected a pair of pink socks and trainers for the journey, feeling that it was always best to wear shoes that gave comfort over style. Today she had let her golden hair flow on its own, only bothering to put one small butterfly pin in her hair to keep it a bit out of her face. Zephyr had been left home for the day, as she figured he'd prefer a nice nap after some of the journeying they had recently completed and she knew that if it was ever necessary she could simply summon him anyway.

Poko had been enjoying herself to the fullest, she had just finished her cake and was sipping on her hot chocolate when she heard the loud, thunderous crack from above, causing her to practically leap from her chair and her eyes to instantly flash silver. Please, not a thunder storm... she prayed to herself, as she looked up, however, her eyes flicked to orange as she furrowed her brow, confused. There were no storm clouds in sight, so what had caused the noise? Her eyes suddenly widened as she saw them raining down from the sky, attack innocent civilians. Oh no, not again... Poko grimaced, it had been some time but she remembered these slippery little creatures from last time, but at least this time she knew how to defeat them. She turned to look to her friends, "Mizi, Yuvon, I've seen these creatures before, if we don't get rid of the biggest one, they will continue to multiply." she stated in a serious tone, looking from one comrade to the other, her eyes now red as she became focused on the task at hand. "Last time it was right in the center of the city I was in, I don't know if that is going to hold true this time, but it's the only idea I have."

The blonde then summoned the wind to herself and her friends, gathering the air around their bodies to allow them to for their own personal slip streams that would speed them up and allow them to make their way through the town much faster. She considered summoning Yuuto as well to increase their movement speed even more, but decided against it for now, she may need him later for combat and she could only summon him once in a while, she didn't want to waste it now. "Let's go." Poko directed, rushing off without waiting for a response. It wasn't long till she ran into a swarm of about a dozen small squid, hovering about, oh how she loathed them. She readied herself, formulating a plan, remembering that last time they were unaffected by some of her spells, perhaps it would be more beneficial to instead work on buffing her comrades and letting them handle these pathetic excuses for enemies. Poko turned trying to spot her party member, as soon as she saw Yuvon she immediately concentrated on condensing the air around him, buffing his movement speed even further than before and allowing his next few attacks to deal greater damage. The young girl then swiftly moved out of harms way, ready to shield either of her friends if they were to come under attack.

Knowledge… okay, not much of that today. Then again, the brain needed a day off from training, and even Yuvon yearned for the weightless yet meaningful moments such as a sweet time at a café. A dazzling cup of tea would fit right in this day, and he didn’t have to drink it at a table alone. No, he was fortunate enough to enjoy the company of two sweet ladies from his guild, the sapphire maiden Mizumi and the bookly enthusiast Poko. Ah, how blissful it was to drink tea with the likes of them! It truly brightened up the already shiny weather that was marking the coming of summertime and the warm season. Was he running low on words to describe this cordial, pleasant, copacetic moment? Didn’t he know more words to express his happiness?

His choice of delicacies was specific; a berry parfait with the following berries and fruits listed from the bottom of the glass to the top; blueberries, fungi - yes, literal fungi - raspberries, banana, almond and chocolate to cover the top and seal the perfect delicacy. Sounded weird, didn’t it? Well, according to the Pergrandian Book of Trivia Volume 20 page 112, most women of Pergrande preferred this meal called Bladeblood. It was said to symbolize the knights’ thirst for metal as blood was sought for vampires, and when he visited the conservative country, he took it upon himself to enjoy this meal, originally for the purpose of gaining the attention of a specific lady upon the quest that he was on that day. Oh, how he let her down when the guards came… it was quite an amusing memory. Thank god that he wrote it all down back then…

What was that? Why was he asking himself such question when the answer was obvious - it was clearly the sound of lightning hitting the earth, but its mere presence and purpose was to be questioned given the lack of cumulonimbus clouds. He quickly rose from his seat in response, throwing a glance at Mizumi and Poko. They were aware of the thunderbolt, too… especially Poko, who even seemed to show signs of recognition. Her explanation elaborated that, even, as she seemed to have seen those ‘creatures’ before. By then, Yuvon could conclude that they were up for a fight with quite the hive mind who relied on a huge boss to exact their assaults. Really, if bringing the biggest one down would take all of them with it, then they showed the same signs as many other species with hive minds such as mountain bees and ethermen.

“What an interesting weakness,” he commented as Ethernano manifested around both his hands. The air around him began aiding his movement thanks to Poko’s magic - apparently, by adjusting the directions of the gust, she could speed up movement speed and turns and even aid others on top of herself. Using air to aid and hover like a rapid drone… what a phenomenal spell! Memorized!

Leaving no time to hesitate, he dashed forward with the help of her spell and approached the enemy squids with an intense velocity. His hands were still glowing with an unknown sort of magic power that he was about to reveal. That dear Poko… she had shown him such an amazing spell, so why shouldn’t he repay the favor? “Memory-Make!” roared across the streets in all directions as he proclaimed his move, hailing wind and fire magic between his hands, “Scorch Kinesis!” The gust which he was almost riding on suddenly caught on a blazing fire, and upon impact with the enemy tentacles, limbs began flying up in crisps and burnt pieces by their submission to the terrible heat. He was on the way to the center of the town, and he hoped that Mizume and Poko could follow up with him during this heated moment…

Mizumi was the last of the three to move towards the center. It would seem that Poko had encountered these creatures before. Information about the prey was always useful. The biggest one apparently split off the smaller ones. This should be an interesting hunt. As they went, Mizumi noticed she was moving faster than normal. The wind from Poko? She had experienced a bit of her aerokinesis back in the cave, but this was different. She didn't move as quickly as the other two, but then again, she was a lower ranked mage and in a yukata with geta. As they moved into the central district. The next bit of interesting magic came about. Yuvon erupted with a audible spell. Memory-Make. So he was a maker mage. And he learned a bit of elemental magic, as noticeable from sending one of these creatures drifting away in ashes and flames.

But that one was not the only one in the area. Eight more small squid flew up over the building and charged at the source of the pain they felt. The blunette noticed them in the sky and stopped for a moment. Her body motionless as she eyes closed. Tendrils and hardened beaks close down towards them. The numbers seemingly giving them some courage or rage to attack what eliminated one of them. But just before any of them made contact with any of them, Mizumi's eyes opened. The blue orbs glowing as golden magic seals appeared in each eye. The small squid reared back and away in fear. The one directly in front of Mizumi screaming out before collapsing on the ground. Scared to death. The air around them could even be felt by the humans. It was the atmosphere that surrounds an Apex predator with prey in front of them. While the magic wouldn't affect her guild mates like they did the squid, they would definitely feel the very presence of the Demigod Orion. As if the magnificent Hunter was standing right behind her.

With the path cleared out a bit, she moved to catch up with the two, the atmosphere, or as one could say the atmos-fear, traveled with her. [color:dee5=0000ff]"I can take care of the smaller ones for now. Let's save up what mana we can until we find the big one."

Poko stared in wonder as she watched both Yuvon and Mizumi in action, her eyes widening as she felt a peculiar force that seemed to originate from the blue haired female. It was almost as if the squid were scared of her mere presence, she would love to research this effect further, but it would have to wait till after the completed the task at hand, destroying the super squishy giant squid! The blonde girl nodded at Mizumi's words, and raced onwards, towards their goal, however their path was soon blocked by a single cephalopod, quite a big larger than the others, but not quite the size of the boss, one of his bodyguards. Poko smirked, last time she had single handedly taken out 5 of these creatures herself, one would be mere child's play, her eyes still red with focused, spotted what they were truly after, the giant squid, the commander of this army, but first she would have to deal with its soldier.

Poko summoned the air, focusing on condensing it into both her hands, till she formed two small daggers, one in each palm. Gripping their hilts, she would dash at breakneck speed, so fast she appeared to teleport, instantly appearing in front of the squishy beast and slicing multiple times with her daggers into its flesh, careful to dodge as it shot out a lasers from where a regular squid would have ink sacs. It was somewhat gross to say the least, but eventually she managed to take it down, by repeating her dash, dagger strike technique. The young girl took a few deep breaths, dashing continuously like that took a lot out of her after all.

Her daggers made from pure air dissipated from her hands as she panted, looking towards the final boss with fierce determination. Poko narrowed her eyes, she needed to make sure the others were aware of what they were about to face, she had been caught unawares the last time and had nearly been defeated because of it, she turned to yell at her comrades, "Careful where you move to, last time the one I fought was able to teleport at will, if this one can too then you have about thirty seconds between teleports to damage it and then get to safety, then repeat." The young blonde explained, "Whatever you do, do not let it slam you with its tentacles or hit you with a laser, it will do far more damage than I can heal." She hated to admit it, but while she could passively heal her friends over time, she couldn't exactly deal with the burst.

Poko scanned her surroundings finding a place where she could hide and assist from, with two others she didn't need to put herself in harms way, she would be much more useful aiding them from the sidelines. She spotted a place somewhat hidden from the squid's view and dashed there instantly, from there she manipulated the air till she felt herself attach to Mizumi's form, her invisible, magical air cord would allow the bluenette to regenerate some health if necessary over time by repairing her cells at a molecular level. Poko then moved her attention to forming an air like shield around her form, it would at least protect her from some of the damage, but not all, if she were to be hit by a tentacle or laser blast. Lastly she focused purely on between Yuvon's shoulder blades, focusing on condensing the air into feather like shapes that eventually formed into two large wings, giving him the ability to fly and move even faster, with all those buffs Poko was more than certain that he would be able to avoid any incoming attacks with ease. After she was done, the young blonde felt her magic power draining, it was rough casting so many support spells in quick succession, she just hoped her friends would be able to deal with the final boss on their own from here on out.

Ah, he shouldn’t let himself miss out on the powers emitting from Mizumi. Despite being a good distance further away from her, he turned his head to react to her gaze. Her eyes shone brightly, each photon emitting from the magic circles declaring the start of a hunt. What was this? It appeared that Mizumi was much more than a promising cook, but a hunter on top of that. Was she, by any chance, blessed by any benevolent hunter figure… like the hunter up in the skies whose belt holds the stars in orbit, Orion himself? The Huntsman of the Gods? Who would’ve known that Mizumi was affiliated with such a legendary existence… she certainly knew herself, didn’t she? If not, then he would be more than happy to elaborate his knowledge about this Orion… but it also left a black spot in his heart, because it reminded him of his own heritage… a heritage revealed in his eye and attunement with flesh and blood, yet unknown and nameless to the masked prince… oh well, Mizumi sure put the ravaging squids in their place as they fled without even attempting to cross her.

There was another group approaching him from the side, and during his analysis of Mizumi’s magic, time had slowed down - it would appear to speed up back to normal when he went to the left and incinerated the enemies with the fire wave that he was riding on. The smell of crisped tendrils and tentacles reached his nostrils, and due to the strong connections between the smaller squids and the boss one that Poko warmed against, he was able to pinpoint its exact location. Perhaps his little trick would save him from having the need to track it down if it decided to teleport - these beings could teleport? That would prove to be a useful spell if it relied on magic power. Some delicious magic to be copied by the copycat of wizardry…!

Where had Poko gone, now? For a moment, he was worried that the squid would target her due to her experience, but upon uninterrupted searching, he managed to spot her at a corner where the squid’s field of vision wouldn’t reach. She sure showed her strengths of support, so he found it his duty to do the offense along with the huntress. His copied spell had ended, sadly, and he felt the foothold of solid kerbstone once more. There was no time wasting, he had to face this monster now! “Avoid tentacles… avoid tentacles,” he repeated to himself a little given Poko’s warning.

When the aero wings appeared on the middle of his back, confidence built up more and more. With these sharp blades that could lift him up in the air, he had another spell in mind that he wanted to try out. Therefore, bravely and almost divinely, he used the wings to dash forward, flying across the roads until he began ascending upwards towards the largest squid in the town. With this speed, I can cut off its tentacles and evade its counterattacks at the same time, he thought cockily as he aimed for the first tentacle that was lifted to be aimed at him. In a swift uprising, the left wing managed to cut off the tentacle, letting it land on the ground as a decapitated limb. Another tentacle was cut off moments after as Yuvon planned to leave it exposed, open, weak to Mizumi’s next spell. However, the squid monster reacted quickly by leaving the position that it was in through teleportation - in that very moment, Yuvon countered immediately! A quick eye and a rapid response, he found himself beside the cruel beast in a matter of nanoseconds - a truly remarkable feat to copy a spell so quickly. Did the monster try to avoid Mizumi and him? He hoped that Poko could keep the wings up for a little longer, if that was the case…

“Mizumi, hurry!” he roared like an old man in his warcry, “The hunt has begun! Claim your trophy..!”

With the smaller squid easily dispatched by the C-ranked Mage and the turbulent prowess of her favorite diner, Mizumi moved quickly into the battle field. She had a bit of trouble keeping up with Yuvon. However she was able to watch them julian and roast squid tendrils. It would seem the Yuvon was able to flash around just like the Squid Leader. Poko had a smart idea about hiding off to the side. In fact, Mizumi was considering that option as well with how well Yuvon was handling things. However Yuvon roared out a cry and command that punched the blunette in the brain. 'The hunt has begun. Claim your Trophy.'

Coming to a full stop in the middle of the battlefield. The blue haired chef, looked visibly agitated for just a breif second. Was he really trying to make her end this? The moment of frustration left her with a breath. The hesitation was enough to allow the Squid to teleport away. Though this time it went for the 'obvious prey' in the area. Mizumi. As the squid materialized, she didn't attempt to dodge the tentacles, or even move. Her hand shot out quickly, landing a palm strike to a tendril and deflecting it to the side. She spun to the left out of the creatures way. The impact point of the strike, while it didn't seem to do much, suddenly had a dark magical seal appear on it.

With the final prepaeration out of the way, the huntress lifted her left hand above her head straight up. If Yuvon wanted to see her hunt, she had better make it flashy as hell. Gravity pulled lightly on her kimono sleeve as it fell to her shoulder. The dark purple marks coating her arm were quite visible. "Hunter of the Twilight. Crimson of the Bloodied foe. Suspended in the sea of time, your power now calls home. I pledge myself to finish the hunt you began with the mighty gift bestowed in my unworthy hand. Let all the animals of the world  fall to the arrow that we will let loose. Kynigos Toxo!" The air and flames in teh enviroment let out a sparkling stream to her hands as a bow formed there. The energy was very rough but it definitly formed a translucent bow that was made of air. On the inside of her elbow though, another dark purple mark appeared, causing her to wince a little before aiming the bow in her hand at the squid. HEr right hand came up pulling back the air, which formed into an arrow.

But just as she had aimed her shot, the squid teleported out of the line of sight. Mizumi didn't alter her aim though. "Pathetic." She let the arrow loose, the high speed projectile flew through the air and curved right towards the beast, plunging right below its large eye. As her hand moved forward to knock another arrow. A second mark appeared on her arm. This would be her 82nd mark. She didn't have much space left and the fingers of her bow hand, trembled slightly.

Poko could already tell she'd used over half her magical energy, she felt the drain on her body, but she wasn't about to give up and let her comrades deal with everything on their own, not while she could still physically stand. Closing her eyes, she concentrated on envisioning a small white furry creature, that had a cat-like face but the body of a bat, a small mane around its neck of fluffy turquoise fur and his wise deep blue, starry sky like eyes, 'I call upon you, Yuuto, guardian of the stars.' she called telepathically to the creature. Her thoughts were heard through to the realm of the guardians, and within second a small puff of blue smoke burst from the air, as it disappeared the creature she had imagined flapped his wings, hovering before her, tilting his head slightly 'What is it you wish from me, Milady?' it asked nobly, straight into the child's mind.

Poko pointed to the squid and her friends on the field, she needed him to help her, Yuuto nodded in understanding as he turned to see them fighting the beast. Without hesitation he swooped onto the battlefield, sending out a huge gust of wind that increased Poko's magical potential. Feeling her power rise she summoned a fist full of air, sending it flying at the squid, predicting its teleportation pattern. It successfully hit and she smirked, after fighting one before she had learnt their movement patterns and this one was apparently no different. She called to Yuuto's mind, letting him know exactly where it was going to be so he could fly, diving to dodge the tentacles with grace before hitting the creature's face with full force before heading up into the sky above its next teleport position, preparing to send a gust of wind down at the monster before diving to attack physically once more.

Poko continued to watch from the sidelines, ready to heal either of her teammates instantly, should they get hit, it shouldn't be too much longer till they had dealt enough to finish it off. Then they could finally settle and return to their peaceful afternoon of tea and chattering.

It was getting more and more predictable, the giant pimp of tentacles. Yuvon kept his trajectories unpredictable in order to gain the upper hand against it, but its vast size was intimidating. What on Earthland was it doing here? The squids showed little sign of intelligence through their lack of dialogue between the wizards and them, but their anatomical features and attributes spoke otherwise. Completely alien… he made sure to remember every edge of their appearances for a new book that he should name ‘Ignorance of Species, Volume IX, Beyond All of Earthland’. Yes, yes, a book about species outside of the borders of this continent - perhaps even covering species from outer space. That plane was likely the least explored by the mortals down here.

Mizumi’s arrow travelled through the air proudly, and it seeded awe in the librarian’s heart… screw it, Memorized! He had to try out this spell for himself, he just couldn’t help himself. A gust was sent towards the giant octopus’ next location, and from his place, the monster accidently teleported towards the very point of impact. The amount of gust that a strange creature, most likely an ally of Poko’s, came with gave Yuvon strength as well - the next arrow could borrow speed from the encouraging wind.

It was unreal. In his hands, a random arrow was equipped. He wasn’t able to bring forth the bow itself, but one of Mizumi’s arrows was present along with a large tentacle. Without anything else to do, he gave the arrow to the tentacle that swiftly swung it across the air like a dart, a speed so intense that the arrow managed to penetrate the squid’s eye until only the tail was visible. The monster gave out a large roar in response, and in the pitiful awe that Yuvon was in as he took in the rush of the hunter, one of the enemy’s arms was lashed out at him. He barely managed to grab it and hold it steady - a hypothesis was needed, one that stated that the octopus couldn’t teleport whilst having physical contact with a disrupting magic.

“Memory-Make..!” A pitch-black aura suddenly engulfed Yuvon and travelled up across the squid’s body, “Poison Trap!” Its movements were severely weakened, but the monster was sturdy enough to try and shake him off by lashing itself into the nearby building - in this case, it made it towards another wizard.

    “P-Poko..!”

It would appear that the battle was starting to take it's toll on the two. Thier flurry of magics had seemingly worn down Poko to the point she had to call for backup. It was understandable. So far, thanks to the power of her Lineage and Magic, she had only used up about 35% of her magic. But she was also at a point where she would no longer be tapping into it. The stationary hunter's eyes tracked as the squid started to teleport around. And with everything it had done to it, it still had quite a bit of fight to give out.

Upon seeing Poko's cute ally, she side stepped to keep it out of the range of her Bane that was still surrounding her. The copied arrow plunged deep into the squid's eye and it seemed to be prevented from flashing away. Mizumi's eyes went to her arm. This was going to hurt her but...what real choice did she have right now. Leveling off her bow, she lined it up and the flailing mass of tentacles. She released one, whizzing through the air and slicing a strand of Yuvon's hair before plunging into the slimy skin of thier foe. The pain shot right through her elbow. Fighting through the pain, she launched another arrow at a wider breath from Yuvon's frame than before. Another wind laced arrow was fired, and a forth one. The quick succession, caused her arm to drop limp. Her heart started beating rapidly, but she sank four new arrows into the creature. The four new claw marks on her arm near her shoulder. "85...damn it. Die already."

As she lifted her arm up again to trace her mark, she noticed her arm starting to shake. "This isn't good..." She had never been this high in total with Scorpio's poison. She wasn't sure how to handle this development. Eighty five marks in all. She was only fifteen from dying. Her head rang as the poison worked through her. But with the new damage, the creature was well below the point that most other animals would attempt to flee to survive.

Poko's eyes widened as she heard Yuvon call her name, realising why far too late as the beast came crashing towards her, causing the building she had been hiding by to come crumbling down around her. 'Crap.' is all she could think as she watched large fragments of bricks and cladding come crashing down around her, her dash would be useless if she hit anything as she attempted to escape, instead she knelt down, covering her face with both her arms as they wrapped crossed over her head. The blonde knew he was already running low on magical energy, she needed to be careful and be tactical with her decisions now, regretting not saving her wings for this moment. Instead she created waves of air that pushed from her location, knocking back the falling debris from her location, some of which happened to hit the squid, although not purposefully, as it got one of its tentacles caught under the rubble.

While she wished she could do more in the current situation, unfortunately if she moved her air pluses would stop, causing the building to start falling towards her again, she was stuck to the spot for now, she just hoped the other two would be alright with finishing it off as her buffs began to wore off of them. The blonde glanced towards Yuvon, the wings should last a little bit longer, but they would give out soon enough, as would the tether healing Mizumi. Yuuto however, was more or less still able to continue swooping at the squid, although he could only manage basic attacks, clawing at the creature while he stocked up on his energy again for another blast of air.

Exhaustion was enveloping the wizards in their fight against this large squid monster. It felt as if with every attack, Yuvon’s limbs grew heavier and heavier… and yet how familiar this feeling was. That was truly the life of a wizard who had taken the path to order - always to be on guard and ready to chase away every danger. These tired hands didn’t let him down… they inspired him.

The wings that Poko granted him were running low on energy. He would have to act now if he wanted his next attack to end the trouble. Upon approaching the squid, though, he saw four rapid arrows pass him with only a few hair strings falling off him. The arrows darted into the squid’s tentacle, preventing it from properly countering Yuvon’s approach. “Nice, Mizumi..!” he cheered with the beast in front of him. Upon a contact with its body, Yuvon opened a small portal the size of his palm that would slowly begin to suck the squid in. A quick way to immobilize it would be to send it away from this peaceful plane and into Apocrypha itself, but it took a hard toll on Yuvon’s magic power. And the squid obviously fought back, even attempting to land a hit on the librarian with its other tentaces. Just as the wings were about to die out, Yuvon managed to evade the attacks with only his mask breaking off in half.

He decided to land at the crumbling building where Poko was to be found. A last spell could save her from fainting from all the mana that she was burning at the moment. As he literally jumped in to grab her, they would both suddenly dive away from the real world and enter greenish atmosphere and stacks of books of Apocrypha themselves - the first sight would be the tentacle monster getting dominated by an even greater tentacle monster.

A brief visit until they returned to the real world, right in front of Mizumi. The landing was a little harsh, but his and Poko’s lives were saved. “*huff*… *huff*… there’s always a bigger fish in the sea,” he commented due to his book world doing the rest of the job as they spoke. His mask was unevenly broken in half, showing the right side of his face with the blonde hair, crystal-blue eye and almost royal features. He couldn’t bother thinking about it at the moment, even though it would’ve infuriated him normally…
