It was a nice day in the Phoenix Mountain. Just a short walk outside of the Silver Wolf HQ was the cave entrances that would host this current mission. Mizumi Aiyama stood at the front with an empty pack on her back. Her short blue hair showing the breee coming out of the cave. The past few months, she has been trying to figure out what ingredient her cupboards was needing. She wanted something a little more magical. That was when she heard one of her guildmates mentioning tasting a mushroom in a cave that made him glow for a few days. When, Mizumi figured out why, she knew she had to go down into the cavern and gather as many as she could. If she could get some spores as well, she could grow them herself. Her blue boots clicked on the stone as she looked into her book. THe caverns, while frequently explored, where never really mapped. What she needed was a extremely high moisture, 12 o C temperature year round, and a high concentration fo Etheria Dioxide. The gas, known for causing Magic to go wonky, was only produced from decomposing magical creatures in areas of low ventialtion. First thing she would need to do is find a water source that could support life. When water entered a cave, all it could do was descend. Eventually that would lead to a pool, which if it was poorly ventilated, would have high moisture. And with a bit of luck, something with mana could have died in it and there would be the mushrooms. |

Re: [Silver Wolf] Missing Ingredient
Poko didn't know much about what was going on but when she heard the news about the guild's chef needing an extra hand to collect some ingredients, the young girl was more than happy to tag along. After all she had an incredible sweet tooth and anyone that made her delicious pancakes for breakfast deserved all the help she could give them. However, while they had planned to meet up outside some caves in the morning, Poko had managed to oversleep after staying up too late reading again. When she woke up to find herself draped over the armchair in the very back corner of the guild's library in what anyone else would have considered an incredibly uncomfortable position, she quickly gasped as she noticed how bright the sunlight was as it shone through the window nearby.
The blonde haired maiden quickly dashed out of the book filled room and made her way to her dormitory on the second floor, quickly changing to more appropriate wear for the snowy mountain range, a pair of long, warm, black pants and her favourite turquoise hooded jacket. Poko then grabed her brown, leather satchel before racing outside in what she hoped was the correct direction. As she finally reached the entrance to the cave, she stopped, placing her hands on her knees as she attempted to catch her breath, for a mage that used aerokinesis she could still find herself breathless at times and it was important to take deep breaths in such situations. "Sorry... for... running... late... I’m… Poko… " Poko gasped, introducing herself as she looked up at the blue haired female before her, as the blonde finally felt the air swell correctly in her lungs she stood up properly, her short stature evident, standing at only five foot. "So is this the place?" Poko queried, smiling as she eagerly peered into the cave, feeling the light breeze resonating from inside. It felt rather pleasant, which made her all the more enthusiastic her eyes swirling as they changed from their regular blue to an excited purple.
Honestly, she couldn’t wait to head in, and she hadn’t really got to talk this particular guild member before, so she was looking forward to the idea of making yet another new friend, which seemed to be quite the trend for her as of late, not that she was complaining. Although, she wasn’t sure if she would consider Kalec a friend just yet, he was more of an irritating being who seemed to relish in torturing consistently, she doubted that this new face in front of her would be anything of the sort though. She seemed so sweet just from her appearance, and although it was never right to judge a book by its cover, as it could just be a façade, Poko highly doubted that to be the case in this instance.

Re: [Silver Wolf] Missing Ingredient
Mizumi snapped her book closed once her guild mate had arrived. The chef was in a rather unusual outfit for her. Usually her arms were always exposed. Aprons tied to keep the waist secured from anything dropping in her hemline. And usually a skirt or shorts. But his outfit had a white blouse with billowing white sleeves, a leather corset with shoulder straps, and long blue leather pants that were tucked into her blue boots. She looked over to her three inch shorter companion and lowered a pair of goggles over her eyes. She noticed the eye color change and smiled. "Mizumi. And yes this is. If my research is accurate we should find a decent sized patch of will o' wisp mushrooms in a cavern here. They look like regular cap and stem mushrooms but have a cold fire burning around them, hence their name. They will probably be on some animal remains." She then handed Poko a heavy steel clip as she hoisted some rope on her right shoulder. The end of the rope was tied to a series of pitons hammered into the cave wall. "I apologize for having to post this job up. I'm having issues with my magic and there might be some Neon Wurms down here. If you need to escape, just follow the rope back, the carbiner should keep it by your side." After clipping hers to her corset and around the rope, she started to walk forward into the cave mouth. Sans illumination at the moment. |

Re: [Silver Wolf] Missing Ingredient
Poko listened carefully as the blue-haired female introduced herself as Mizumi, which the blonde thought was a beautiful name. She was only a few inches taller, which made Poko relax, it was always comforting to be around those of a similar height, some of her previous job partners were basically giants in her eyes, towering over her small frame. As Mizumi explained what they were looking for, Poko only grew more excited, she had never seen magical mushrooms such as the ones being described before, she grew curious as to what they would taste like. However, the mention of them growing on rotting flesh, wasn't exactly appealing, of course it was nature at work, but it was a side of nature she preferred to distance herself from when possible.
The bluenette then handed Poko a clip, attached to some rope so they wouldn't lose their way in the caves. Hesitantly she took the clip from her companion, attaching it to her belt, hoping it would be sufficient before trailing into the cave after Mizumi. "It's fine, I like exploring the mountains, I consider them my home now." Poko explained with a small smile, "I haven't seen this worms before though, but I'll do my best to defend the both of us if necessary." the blonde finished with a small nod. She had beaten creatures far scarier than any worms on her travels, she was certain they wouldn't be too much of a threat. Poko began formulating a plan in case they were attacked by any of these cave dwelling monsters.
If necessary she would produce a strong shield made from compressed air around Mizumi before fabricating a pair of feather-like wings and a wind long sword with a blade as sharp as any steel. She was more than certain that she could out manoeuvre the enemies, her magic granted her more than enough speed, even going so far as allowing to appear to teleport a few meters at a time. Although she would be limited with her dashes due to the cave walls, so it may be a little tricky at times, especially if it grew darker the deeper they went into the tunnel, Poko thought carefully, deciding that she would just have to do her best if it came down to it.

Re: [Silver Wolf] Missing Ingredient
As she pushed past the first set of stalagmite, Mizumi began to survey the area. She closed her eyes walking forward. Feet stepping on the stone with slow clicks. She was trying to find the sound of running water. But the first thing that caught her was an earthy sweet smell flowing from the left. "This way." She mentioned as she moved down the passage way. The path was relativly clear, with of course the occasioanl bat droppings on the ground. A few small lizards crawled around as did cave spiders. When the paths forked, the bluenette shifted the weight if the rop on her shoulder and turned to the left fork. The light was already starting to dim. Vision was getting to be harder and harder with each step. "So Poko. Why did you want to come on this mission? I'm pleased that someone wanted to come, but, you know that scientific curiosity." She recognized the blonde from breakfast every morning. Usually got what ever pancakes she was cooking up that day. She seemed to enjoy sweets. It was always in the best interest for any cook or chef to learn each eater's personal preferences. It was actually for Poko that her Will O' Wisp candy was being created for. Well her and the Guild Master. She made sure any new receipe made in teh kitchen that passed her own taste buds test, got saved for the Leader of the pack. |

Re: [Silver Wolf] Missing Ingredient
Poko pushed her two index fingers together in a shy manner, blushing slightly and glad that with the current lighting it wouldn't be so obvious that she was embarrassed over her coming answer to the chef. "Well, you see... I really love the food you make..." Poko whispered tentatively, "I thought that if you needed help, I should definitely be the one to do so." she pondered this for a couple seconds, "Plus, I enjoy helping people." the blonde quickly added, giving a small, proud smile as she tilted her head in Mizumi's direction, letting her long, gold locks cascade over her shoulder. She quickly leapt over a rather large spider crawling along the ground to avoid stepping on it, or worse, having to crawl onto her shoes before asking curiously, "What do you love so much about cooking?".
The seventeen year old had never bothered to cook meals while traveling around with just herself and Zephyr, instead preferring to survive on whatever nature provided them, although it was mostly nuts and berries, she hardly complained. Occasionally they had stopped at various towns and enjoyed a couple local delicacies, but these pit stops were few and far between. Because of such, she had found it a little difficult to adjust when she had first met Quill, avoiding meats in general, not only for her own preference, but also because her companion Zephyr was pretty much a flying rabbit who failed to show even a hint of a carnivorous side. However, over time Poko had learnt to eat what she was given, although, she still preferred to avoid meat when possible.
As she waited for Mizumi's answer Poko felt a small tremor, it wasn't enough to completely force her off balance, but it was enough to let her grow concerned. Something was definitely coming, perhaps one of these worm creatures that the cook had spoken about. Poko readied herself, she would defend her guild mate with all she had, more than willing to sacrifice herself if necessary, although, she greatly doubted it would come to that in their current situation. Suddenly it burst through the cavern wall, a large, glowing, neon worm, the largest worm Poko had ever laid eyes on, it was coated in what appeared to be a slimy substance, that most likely helped it manuvour as it burrowed into the mountains. Poko wasn't one for killing creatures, preferring to leave them unconscious or simply scaring them away, however, she wasn't entirely sure how to go about either of those options with her current opponent. The worm reared up as it noticed them, showing off its true length as it towered over the small females.
"Goddamn tall things" Poko muttered under her breath as she quickly cast her shield magic over herself and Mizumi's bodies, forming a gentle breeze that would stop a few hits from the creature before them. The blonde then quickly then concentrated on the middle of her shoulderblades and the palms of her hands, simultaneously creating a pair of beautiful wings that allowed her to glide effortlessly through the air and a large long-sword made from pure condensed air molecules that would easily slice through the beast before them. However, instead of aiming to stab or slice, Poko hit it with full force using the wide part of the blade in an attempt to scare it off. Her blade was met with the slimy coating and slid over its body, for the most part it still damaged enough that it would have left a large bruise on any human opponent, causing the neon worm to slide backwards as it cried out in pain. "Just get out of here!" Poko muttered, furiously under her breath towards the worm, she didn't want to have to kill such a beautiful creature, she would much rather study it. Almost seeming to understand her words, the worm quickly retreated back into the hole it had spawned from previously, slipping away into the darkness. Poko let out a loud sigh, allowing all her air magic to dissipate. "Well let's move on and find these mushrooms shall we?" the blonde would say as she turned to smile happily with bright yellow eyes at Mizumi, glad that the worm had reacted accordingly.

Re: [Silver Wolf] Missing Ingredient
Mizumi stopped for a moment after Poko answeed her question. That was a bit of a shocker. She had a fan. Just as she was about to laugh a bit at this revelation. The rumbling shot through the cavern. A Neon Wurm. And the biggest she had even read about. Subconciously, her right hand went over to her left wrist. Poko was going to need help, regardless of whether the bluentte needed to recover or not. What was a few more days over the live of a Silver Wolf? As she was about to activate her magic, A wind shield was created around her. The following fight, filled with aerial manuevers and sword strikes left her a bit amazed. Mizumi herself had not been in actual combat yet. And here. this sweet little blonde that liked her pancakes was laying wste to the wurm. When the invertibrate retreated, she let her hands drop. No need to get hurt again. But it was the rubble that drew her attention away from directly praising her. In the rubble was a single mushroom a lit with blue flames. But the area was still as hot as ever. She walked over and picked it up. The soft glow of the flame illuminated her boundlessly cheerful smile. She even hopped up and down a bit. "Oh my Fiore. We found one. I knew the grew in here." Holding the mushroom like a flashlight, she reached over and grabbed Poko's hand, just before quick stepping into the new tunnel that the wurm had created. "There is a bit of slime on it, but that means this was caught on the wurm's body. It went through a patch of the mushrooms!" The rope uncoiled quickly as they walked. They have already laid out half of the bundle. The bit of flying she did pulled some out, but that length was pulled taut as they started walking again. |

Re: [Silver Wolf] Missing Ingredient
Poko was still catching her breath somewhat after the fight, taking in a few deep breaths allowing her heart and lungs to return to their steady rhythm. The blonde looked over to her comrade who was holding up the flaming mushroom, suddenly grabbing her hand, catching Poko by surprise, the physical contact making her blush a bit, once again the girl was grateful for the lack of light in the caves. Muzumi appeared rather excited, which made Poko smile, as they trudged through the newly formed tunnel, careful not to trip over any of the rubble or slip on the slime left behind from the cave dwelling creature. As the rope pulled taut, Poko suspected this was a sign they were quite deep into the caverns, she hadn't really noticed that they had come so far, so she was caught by surprise when she felt her belt start to pull on her.
However, not far from where they stood, Poko could see a bluish glow just around the corner of the tunnel, "I think I see more mushrooms!" Poko squealed out in delight. She was pretty sure that she would be able to find her way back to the rope, she unlocked the clip from her belt, it wouldn't be for long anyway. As she came around the corner her suspicions were proven true as before her lay a few dozen mushrooms surrounded in blue flames, growing on what appeared to be the rotting carcass of a dead neon worm, smaller than the one she had fought previously. The smell of the flesh made her gag somewhat, the blonde, lifting her right hand to her mouth as she dry reached, quickly using her spare left hand to whip up a bit of wind to blow the smell in the opposite direction. It didn't remove it completely, but it definitely helped. Poko looked to her blue-haired companion, she wasn't sure if there was a correct way to harvest them or not and more than likely Mizumi was wanting to take notes beforehand, so she simply took a step back, allowing her guild mate to observe and collect them as necessary. With a cute smile, Poko would tell her "All yours!"

Re: [Silver Wolf] Missing Ingredient
Mizumi looked on as Poko left the rope and went on ahead. Rule 1 of spelunking was to very split the group. But when she saw the blue glow, she understood why. The bluenette herself ran up to her and looked. True enough there were a dozen or so on one worm, and a green glow coming from the side. There were other wurms, with different colored glows, each spouting patchies of mushrooms. When the blonde announced they were all hers and blew away the air in there, the huntress came right next to her, gave her a hug and kiss on the cheek before going in. Once inside the cavern she could see perfectly well. There was more than just two. The center of the room had white glow to it. Seven wurms in total laid in the den. Patches of fungi growing in red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. All of them the same species, but they seemed to derive thier glow from the magic they consumed. Pulling out a couple mason jars, she tossed one to Poko, while setting the other down. "I'm going to gather the spores from this one. Just pull and twist the caps off. The stems can regrow new caps in a day." After setting out a total of seven jars, she retreived her scrapping tube and carefuly went along the underside gills of the red caps, pulling out plenty of spore so she can grow some back at HQ. But, now that she actually saw Body to fungi ratio, she wondered how many creatures she would need to actually start growing. "Soon as we get back, I am going to bake you a cake." |

Re: [Silver Wolf] Missing Ingredient
Poko blushed profusely, her eyes glowing a bright pink that matched her cheeks as she was hugged and kissed on the cheek. The blonde had only ever embraced or been embraced by a few other in her entire life and she honestly never knew how to deal with it most of the time. The only person she ever felt truly comfortable around was her best friend Quill, although recently he'd been far too busy with his fiance and she always felt awkward whenever she visited them these days. She was fairly certain that Quill's bride to be hated her, although she wasn't particularly sure why, it's not like her and Quill were romantically involved, nor had they ever been or planned to be, they were simply good friends. Poko quickly shrugged these thoughts out of her mind, she had a job to do and a chef to help.
She caught the mason jar as it was thrown at her, giving her a smile and nod as she did as she was told, carefully pulling and twisting off the caps while leaving the stems behind to regrow before placing them into the jar. When Mizumi mentioned there would be a cake for her once they were back, Poko picked up the pace a little bit. She was still being careful, but she couldn't wait to find out what kind of cake it would be, she considered asking the chef, but preferred to leave it as a surprise. It didn't take too long to collect all the caps from the mushrooms, noting each of the different colours and wondering if they would all have a different flavour because of this, or if they would simply be the same but give an artistic look to a dish. It was difficult to say at this point as she couldn't exactly tell if they smelt differently due to the stench of the rotting neon worms in the room, a scent that she had somewhat grown accustomed to over the time spent collecting the caps from them. Once she was done, Poko stood up, "All done here, we can head back as soon as you've finished collecting your data." she chirped as she picked up the jar with the indigo mushrooms and inspected the caps inside a bit more closely.

Re: [Silver Wolf] Missing Ingredient
Mizumi had finished her spore collections a bit earlier. She managed to collect two jars of spores and two jars of caps. This should be plenty for a while. At least until they grew back, or she could start production of her own. It appeared to be close to twenty four to a jar. After hearing Poko had finished, she closed the lid on the yellow caps. "Same here. Thank you for all your hard work today." She started to load her pack with the jars, taking care to pack them tightly so they didn't break on the way back. With the blue jar, she held it out as a lantern so they could find the rope to lead their way back up. There was some slippery inclinations, but they were able to get back easily enough. "Oh and too your question earlier. We need three basic things in life. Shelter, clothing, and nourishment. We can buy a house once and live our entire lives in it. We can BUy an outfit and have clothing for a year. But food is a daily thing. And cooking lets me make that an experience." As she clipped the rope back to her belt she turned and offered the end to her partner. Her eyes locking with the blondes when she got close enough. "Plus sometimes I like to lick the flavor from your lips." She gave a wink before climbing back through the tunnel. |

Re: [Silver Wolf] Missing Ingredient
Poko walked back, following Mizumi as she took them back to the rope, using the blue glowing caps to find their way. As the blue haired female explained her reasoning for becoming a chef, it started to make sense, after all everyone had their own preferences. While she herself never understood the need to cook, she did really enjoy any meal prepared for her, especially when it was a brand new experience. Poko took the rope as it was offered to her and clipped herself back on, looking up as Mizumi drew close, causing the blonde girl to blush profusely, her eyes shining a brilliant bright pink, only growing more embarrassed as the bluenette commented on licking her lips. Poko knew she was just teasing, at least she assumed she was, but it still caught her off guard, especially the way she had locked eyes, forcing Poko to look directly into her blue ones. As the duo began to make back out Poko found herself unable to stop herself from blushing, her mind continuing to swim through thoughts. She was not good at dealing with flirtatious comments, which always made her an easy target for teasing. However, Poko was glad they had managed to achieve what they had set out to do without too much trouble and she appeared to have made a new friend along the way.
