Unleash the Beast [Secondary Magic Training]

A simple yawn escaped between the vixen’s lips as she looked around. The training ground belonging to Fairy Tail. It has been a bit since she stood here last, as no one wanted to actually spar against her. And for a good reason, too. She was perhaps the most powerful member of this guild and one of the most powerful wizards in the entire world. But that mattered little to some people, as her young pupil now stood against her. He wished to test his skills and the goddess had frankly nothing better to do anyway. So why not have a bit of fun right now?

In her head would rest that same familiar fan as always, though it was still folded as the girl pushed it against her chin for a bit. A somewhat of a thinking position for her. She was also dressed in the usual, a white and purple kimono with few red parts to it as well. The nine golden tails loomed behind her, still ever so menacingly. As of late, there was a lot on the goddess’ mind. Nothing that she could really disclose to her guild just yet, but it was certainly bothering her. Perhaps this fight would be good for distracting her from all that for a bit.

Then, she looked directly at the boy in front of her and sight a second time. “Won’t be any more ready than I am now, no matter how long we wait. Just try to not destroy too much of the guild property, will you?” She informed him and moved into a little bit more relax of a position, her hands alongside her body. She was letting him have the first strike.

While the vixen’s posture appeared very relaxed and careless in such situation, she was actually observing the boy rather carefully. She was powerful, but that did not mean she was literally invincible. If not careful enough, anyone could still hit her and deal damage. Even if just a miniscule amount. So when he so suddenly headed straight at her, she was at least somewhat ready for it. She had known Haru for a good bit now, so she also had a fair grasp on his personality and fighting style. He was very… direct, for the lack of a better term. Not that it was really bad with his raw power.

Just something that would not be very suitable for more peaceful situations. But this was also a world where power meant almost everything. And those with it could take whatever they wanted, as well as whoever they wanted. The moment he tried to perform the punch, Noheme unleashed the Demon of Speed, part of her powers. With that, she was able to simply move her head to the side. Haru’s hits connected without a problem, but only with her shadowy afterimage that disappeared the moment he touched them. And as he tried to kick, she would fall onto all four and lower her body as much as she could, letting his attack pass above her.

The second half of his onslaught, however, was more problematic. All nine of her tails quickly moved all around her body, as if to shield her. But as the flames gnawed at the area and caused a literal explosion, all became blurry. The moment Haru would land, a giant shadow blade would emerge from the ground and try to pierce him in half. And as the dust settled, the goddess emerged unharmed. Yes, her clothes were starting to slowly burn off due to the flames, but her actual body was perfectly fine. And a tiny circle around her on the ground untouched by flames, as if she forcefully made the attack miss. It was the same thing she used when they first met, that made Haru think she was nothing more than a ghost.

“Your attacks are swift and strong. But that’s about it. Show me some more variety!”

Looking through all the smoke finally clearing up somewhat, the girl’s expression seemed to be one of surprise. Despite her attack being one with the nature of surprise, she didn’t actually expect it to land at all. Thankfully it was far from a fatal wound. Just a painful one, from the looks of it. But even then, the boy did not decide to throw in the towel. Surely he knew that more of such hits could come his way. Yet, he instead created some distance and started preparing another attack. He certainly had guts, she had to give him that. Honestly, Noheme hated people that were all bark and no bite.

Of course, she had seen him many times in the past. So she knew he would not give up so easily. Though she wasn’t quite sure how he would react to more serious injuries, that she had not yet seen him obtain. A faint smile crossed her face. Perhaps it was time to see just how much his face could twist when in pain? Oh dear, a little bit more sadistic side started waking up inside of the woman. She would have to make sure to not hurt him too much.

Gripping the fan in her hand a bit righter, her green orbs would shine with a spark of life and excitement. The roar was unleashed and the goddess had moved the fan above her head, ready for a swing. “Then, come!” As the flames neared, she would perform a powerful vertical strike that transformed the fan into its weapon form at the same time. That iconic black blade with golden adornments. “Demon butcher!” Both holy and shadow energies gathered in this blade and were unleashed along with the swing, creating a powerful cutting force that split the roar in half, sending the two smaller attacks too far away from her body to actually hurt her.

And as Haru started preparing another attack, she used her free hand to slide across her lips. It has been a while since she actually got so hyped up. She really ought to control herself more. But just for a second… just a few moments! “Yes… just a bit is fine, right?!!” With her eyes shining brightly, magic would surround her, all of her clothing disappearing in an instant, just to be replaced by another outfit. Her combat uniform that allowed for much more freedom of movement than the long kimono she normally wore, in which it was hard to move at all.


But that was obviously not the end of it, not at all. Even more dark energy started surrounding her as she started chanting. “The power of a Demon, manifest in a single spell... Shadow Drive!” Parts of her golden hair and fur became black and a shadowy aura surrounded her. But still no magical energy due to her ascendance. As the fire mortars landed, her body simply vanished. It might have looked like she was reduced to nothing but ashes, but the truth was much more simple. She submerged herself in the shadows on the ground.

After all, she possessed the power of a shadow god slayer. And in that very moment, her very sword would fly out of Haru’s own shadow, aimed straight at his right leg, just beneath the knee. It was a simple attack, but one of great effectives if it were to land. Noheme herself would slowly start emerging behind him as well, grinning menacingly.

Glaring at him, Noheme was quite ecstatic. Why? Because up until now, every single opponent who had received this much damage and saw this much of her power would give up or be dead by now. Well, except enemies that were not really alive to begin with, but those were hardly any fun to fight with. Licking her lips, she extended her hands toward Haru. In that moment, the blade inside of his leg disappeared and reformed in her hand. It was shadow and part of her very being, after all. No way she’d give her weapon up just like that, for the sake of one attack.

In fact, she had a much better plan. Nearly stabbing it into the ground, she had grabbed the hilt with both hands and then pulled each hand in a different direction. In a flash of shadow magic, the weapon split into two identical swords, one wielded in each hand of the goddess who laughed. At the tip of each blade formed a letter of an unknown alphabet that started radiating power as well. Power that entered the girl’s body. Two magical sigils that rendered her even more dangerous than she already was, which was definitely plenty.

Simply moving those blades around left behind a wave of split air. Those blades were now so sharp that they were capable of cutting the space itself, leaving behind traces of split up heat behind as she moved her hands alone. And then, the air around her body vibrated as she used that defensive spell again, her body dashing forward and then suddenly dispersing into shadow, a large circular barrier appearing in her position. One that Haru was inside of as well, provided he did not move. And inside of that barrier, hundreds of not thousands of those swords suddenly started slashing all around, attempting to cut the boy all over.

Noheme was not stupid by any means. She might have been a selfish and cocky goddess, but when it came to combat, she knew precisely what she was doing. The moment her body dissolved into the ring of swords coming at Haru, her real form was separated and went back beneath the ground, leaving behind nothing more than a shadow clone that whirled around and that was eventually destroyed by the dragon flames. But it was just that, a measly clone that was not required any further. And the vixen, hidden beneath the ground and inside of her shadows, waited for her prey to come close.

He was trying to taunt her as he walked around, the battlefield destroyed by his power. She found it amusing, really. Unfortunately for him, taunting was one of the things that simply did not work on her. If she could, she would probably even laugh at him. But instead, she decided to enter what could be considered the last act of her fight, at least for her. The boy was observant, but his enhanced senses and even magic sensing would be of no use against her. As long as she wasn’t actively attacking him, her body made absolutely no sound, her magic unable to be sensed.

This allowed her to emerged from the ground behind him and strike To him, it probably appeared as if she warped behind him, her swords suddenly going through his side. She deliberately cut only through his flesh, avoiding all organs. Honestly, it was not even remotely serious injury despite looking like one. The point of her attack was not to hurt him, but something else. And keeping the sword inside of him, he could move away only if he were to tear apart his own side. Despite the heat, the vixen leaned in to his ear.

“I am well aware, boy. It is you who forgot, my magic - the mighty Hell demon slayer. It is not any regular shadow, but one infused with light that shines brighter than any flame. The elemental advantage you speak of is minimal for it~” She teased him, as she finally pulled the blade out. In that moment, she also disappeared and re-appeared right in front of him using her speed. “The nine jaws of Fox Demon come to make the wicked pay!” With those words, all nine of her tails would suddenly extend forward and strike him all at once.

Upper arm, collarbone, windpipe, temple, diaphragm, ribs, groin, thigh and shins. Every single point of those would be aimed at. And even if the attack were to hit him, it would do very little damage. Rather, it was an attack meant to paralyze the enemy for a short while. But even if Haru would try to dodge, he’d feel his body very quickly getting weaker, slower, more feeble in every single aspect. “Can you feel it? That weakness in your body, despite all your spells powering you up~”

She was not afraid. She stood still, looking at the boy and smiling while she explained. “That is a curse. A demon’s curse that was placed at you with every single attack I have landed on you. And each layer of the curse makes you considerably weaker. You probably didn’t realize until now because of the heat of the battle. How does it feel, boy~?” She now taunted him back in return for earlier. It was only fair.

The goddess stood tall and looked straight at him. It was clear that her magic was affecting him in a very negative way, as it was supposed to. But he was still able to get up, despite all vital neural connections inside of his body being paralyzed. That meant only one thing. His body was no longer being moved by muscles, but magic instead. He was still drawing as much power as he possibly could. Normally, this would have probably excited the Vixen, allowing her to go at him even stronger without the fear of killing him. But she recalled something a bit important.

In that very moment, she looked down at the destroyed ground, her eyes covered in shadow and not visible anymore. So this was the point she got him to, was it? Ah, perhaps she was not that good of a teacher after all. “I see. Then, it is time to stop this fight. For your sake and everyone else’s.” With that, the girl would move her hand forward, strange, orange energy starting to gather around it and being absorbed into her body. A kind of magic she had never shown before to anyone from Fairy Tail.

Soon, it was starting to appear all around her body, the ethernano entering her. And during this process, she just stood there, looking at the boy in front of her who looked more like a dragon the more she observed him. Dragon Force. While it was a powerful tool that allowed him to rise in power just as he said, it also might have very well been start of the dragonification process. Something that would eventually turn him into the same thing that Acnologia turned into. A mindless killing machine that would not stop, not until the entire world would be destroyed.

Honestly, Noheme was not expecting him to stand down at all, much less so quickly after her words. The feelings inside of him acted like fuel, which meant that there was a good chance he would lose control completely. Because of this, she was preparing to enter her Nuclear Fusion mode for the first time ever in this specific body. But in the end, she did not even have to. The orange magical energy entering her body dissipated, though still leaving several burned spots on her skin as the spell nearly activated. Perhaps it was for the best, this result.

With a sigh, she would cross her hands at chest height. “You are lucky you were able to return back to normal. If not, I would have had to make you feel much worse than just ‘funny’.” She warned him. She was very capable of stopping him, even in that state. It would probably be for a hefty price, but she did not care about that all too much. But in the end, she relaxed her position at least a little bit, looking down at the beat up boy. She couldn’t help but feel at least a tiny bit sorry for his condition.

“Don’t fight back or I’ll snap your neck.” She would then warn him again, though about something entirely different, walking behind him, she would sit down on the harsh burned ground, grabbed Haru by his head and forced him onto her lap. “I’ve no interest in dragging you anywhere, so just hold still while I heal you a bit.” Saying that, the boy was free to enjoy his new pillow while the goddess’ shadow started creeping up parts of his body, repairing damaged skin and muscles. It was not the most effective healing spell, but it was better than nothing at all.

The boy planned to act rebellious even in his current state, it seemed. Thankfully he had hardly energy left, which prevented him from actually acting on his words. That said, who would want to fight back against this much kindness from the goddess in disguise? Even to Haru who she took under her wing she acted quite cold and strict. She was teasing those around her, but had no problem showing them how serious she was. But almost never would she show kindness or even affection such as this, at least not in such a pure form. It was quite the rare moment indeed.

And as her student rested against her body, she sighed. With how much they destroyed this area, there will definitely be some commotion later on. Perhaps she should just disappear back into her shadows and leave this area for few weeks once Haru had healed up, letting him take all the blame for breaking this place into piece? After all, it was mostly him who did so. Noheme’s attacks were far more focused and precise, aimed at killing the enemy outright rather than crushing them and everything around them. But she would figure out what to do later on.

After all, there was no leaving while the child was still resting against her body, getting healed. But when he woke from his short dream, she would raise her brow ever so slightly. She did not know what he saw in the Dreamland just now, but he certainly seemed genuine. Moving her hand to his cheek, she would suddenly flick his forehead with enough force to leave a faint mark behind. “What a selfish request. You really do just want to take everything for yourself and return nothing, don’t you?” She still teased him, even now. Perhaps it would lighten the mood.

It was true that if Noheme was to take on another student, they would probably have a rather harsh life. “They’d have to be about as durable as you, dragon boy.” She admitted, as she never really messed around when it came down to power. That said, Haru’s training was a little bit special due to the nature of his magic and how difficult it was to control at times. Your ordinary magic was nothing like that. And a regular mage definitely did not have a chance of possibly turning into an evil dragon of doom if they were to lose control.

Still, he was a fine student. Or perhaps she felt like that only because he was the only student she ever really had, that was also possible. She’d have to judge this in the future if she were to ever raise another individual to power. But yes, the subject of explaining this was a little bit harsher right now. “Actually, explaining it will be rather simple.  Fixing it all will be something else. I suggest you start looking for a capable earth mage as soon as you can, so you can hire him to fix this place.”

If it was not for the giant explosions that Haru’s magic caused, they could have probably even gotten away with it all if they did what she just said. But alas, at least one of them would have to face some kind of punishment later on. When getting up, the classical fan materialized in the vixen’s hand once more, as her weapon was no longer required and returned to its sealed form. Unfolding it in front of her mouth, she watched as the boy bowed and sighed slightly. There was no need for a thank you, so she just decided to tease him again.

“Repay me by getting that power under control. If you ever manage to enter that state with such stamina without having to burn down everything around you, then maybe you will be able to repay me then.”

The vixen narrowed her gaze at the boy’s comment. He certainly was her student, wasn’t he? “Don’t forget that you barely even managed to scratch me back there, boy. You won’t be able to break anything of mine anytime soon.” She said this, but when she was getting up just a moment ago, she felt something within her. Something… broke. It wasn’t because of Haru, as he didn’t actually manage to land any major hits on her. She knew full well why this was. The Nuclear Fusion… she was ready to activate it in order to put him down if he flew off the handle.

But in the end, he managed to remain in control. However, she was already in the middle of activating that power. And shutting it down so quickly and forcefully probably had even worse of an effect on her body than if she actually activated it. There was not that much external damage visible aside from the burns, but the inside of her body must have been all kinds of messed up. For now, she was able to continue no problem. But she realized that a new body might be required soon. So even this nine-tailed bag of meat would be discarded… oh well.

But then the boy started going on about celestial spirits or something. This made the goddess raise an eyebrow again. “What are you rambling about now? I have not summoned a single spirit in my life, nor am I one myself. All I did was a change from my normal clothes to these, combat oriented ones. I appreciate that you try to use your head as much as you use your muscles for once, but you are over-thinking this.” She couldn’t help but wonder why he felt as such. But she truly was not a celestial spirit.

That said, he managed to land pretty close. She was a spirit of some kind… just not celestial. But as far as Noheme’s thinking went, she was just a goddess of the Moon, worshiped by a tribe in Joya. So when the boy made a step forward, she made a step backward and rather strongly moved the fan in front of her, causing a not small gust of wind to pick the boy up and send him into the air. “Stop being creepy. I have no key, so if that was a metaphor, too soon.” And with that, she turned around.

“Anyway… I have some other business I need to attend to immediately. You go and deal with Sorano screaming at you for destroying the training field.” And just like that, the vixen had warped away, leaving her poor student behind.
