Job Title: Why Couldn't It Be Follow The Butterflies?
Rank: C
Player Requirements: 2 D rank, or at least 1 C rank. 2,000 words per player or 2,500 words solo. Must be in Onyx Moon Guild.
Job Requirements: Travel to the forests, help exterminate 3 homes which have bad infestations. Remove/destroy at least 3 nests and the infestations in the homes. Journey back to the guild for reward.
Job Location: Tolgalen
Job Description: In the region of the dense forests of Divide Island, there have been reports of increased spider activity. More infestations in small outposts, camps and villages of people living in the wild forests and increased nests in the larger inhabited towns. The forests seem to even sound like bugs crawling around when one walks in them. The unnerving report has the Guild sending you on a mission to investigate the houses and the infestations in them. Additionally, you are to examine the local nests in the outposts surrounding area and try to figure out the cause of so many nests. Local environmental advocates and mages likely will try to stop or convince you to end your mission without thoroughly exterminating the local nests in the outpost and homes, using any means they can find possible. There are three main homes with bad infestations and two nests in the local area of one of the towns that need to be disposed of, but you are told to not do more damage to the homes than completely necessary (if you do you will need to help fix the damage). Additionally, the report includes that the spiders seem small (size of a quarter or smaller) and are likely non-poisonous, though being bitten by more than five will cause numbness and swelling and possible infection. The job fails if you do not cleanse the area of the spider nests and exterminate the homes, or if you do not repair any damage you do to the homes. You are allowed to disarm the advocates and arrest them if they are violent, but not allowed to kill them.
Enemies:
Weak:
Oni spiders: They take 3 D rank hits to take down if they are gathered in an infestation swarm, and 4 D rank hits to take down if they are gathered in a nest. Destroying a nest will set loose a swarm of the spiders unless the nest is burned with fire. If you choose to somehow help the advocates, you can use the same amount of hits to capture the spiders and bring them out into the deeper forest. Being bitten by spiders causes numbness and swelling of the area during the first post, and possible infection by the second. Both posts will cause 2 D Rank damage.
Normal:
Environmental advocates: They claim increased spider activity is due to weather or increased pheromones and implore you to not damage the nests or the natural activity of the spiders. They say the spiders are of a rare type called the Oni Spiders and are crucial to the environment's well being. Many of the advocates are non violent and will simply need to be persuaded to stay out of the way while you do your work. Few others may resort to violence in an effort to protect the arachnids. Violent advocates will do D to C rank damage depending on their strike and they carry daggers, clubs, staffs and set out bear traps to prevent you or slow you down. They take 1 C rank hit to take down.
Reward: 10K Jewels and C rank experience, plus access to Part 2
