Amber Powers :: D ---> C

Amber had actually gotten someone to accept the responsibility of seeing whether or not she had what it took to be a C-Rank mage! A guildless mage actually ranking up officially for the first time was probably an event in and of itself, but Amber was only 8 years of age! This was a huge event, and Amber was only told more and more of the enormity of what she was doing. So she knew that she'd have to wear her favorite outfit to the exam.

The young girl had arrived wearing a very shiny golden-colored dress that had a noticeable gleam. Accessorizing herself, she had all manner of various shinies on her person, almost all of them mislocated. Of course being the smart girl she was, she didn't take any that would weigh her down. Seeing the person she believed to be her instructor, she would smile and wave. "Hey! You look like that person! Umm... Are you Heero? I'm here to win my exam," she would say, thinking of the exam like a fun task that she needed to do to make more money.

Amber would hear him ask her to display her favorite combination of spells. She would think for a moment, before she'd come up with this test being somewhat like a magic beauty and skill pageant. Amber figured that she had this much in the bag then. "So... show you something cool and pretty? I'll show you my shiniest combo then!" Without so much as missing a beat she would outstretch her hands so that her palms pointed in opposite directions at her sides, before a blue magic circle appeared under her feet, and water spewed out from the magic circle and shot Amber up into the air.

A small globe would form around her as she would swim around in circles, almost forgetting why she was doing that. Amber would then lower the globe to the ground so she could step out, "Not done yet." She would then raise the sphere and make the currents swirl around, before she would stand under it, and raise her hands, a large yellow magic circle appearing under her. The air around her seemed to ionize as electric sparked around her in a fabulous display. She would then start to focus seriously. A grand bolt of lightning shot straight into the orb of water, charging and conducting the lighting, making a beautifully glowing giant sphere of water.

While impressive on its own, "Now for the finale!" She would begin waving her arms around majestically forming a coiling shape above her and it would disappear into the sky. She would take a moment, and breath out a visible breath of fog, as yet a third magic circle, this one would be cyan, as the air around her got noticeably colder. Amber would then jump really hard, so that she got more distance than other kids could hope to get, and spoke, "Here I go!" The long stream of water with lightning flowing through it would swoop by from the city streets, and move under Amber. Normally this would have damaged her, but the water froze under her feet and she would land on the stream, freezing the entirety, showing that the whole thing was actually a cleverly sewn-together dragon made of frozen lightning, and she rode around on it by manipulating the water the ice was made of. "Goddess's Grand Show: Dragon Rider!" she would call it, making up dramatic names being a fun pastime of hers as she would grin whilst riding a freaking flying dragon.

Amber would eventually be done having fun and she would promptly turn off dragon and separate the elements as she would return back to position. Then the second instructions were given. What would she do in the face of a high speed, invisible, or hard-to-see-coming in general situation. Amber would nod, getting many ideas in her mind. "This one's easy!" she would say, having confidence in herself. While she figured that she was only able to harm him a little, Amber would keep as careful of a track of the lightning as she could.

Amber would then start moving, it was in a seemingly general direction of trying to find a good place to start, but she would still have her globe of water. She would wave her hands and it would disperse, into an extremely thin, spread-out bubble of mist over several meters, while a green spiraling wind formed armor around her with a green magic circle under her feet for a moment. Amber knew she could hold this out for a while, and being given the weaknesses of the Lightning Magic, she figured out something just a moment ago. If caught in a dense mist like this, Heero should shock himself with his own lightning. But doing something as large scale as this would conduct such a magic over the entire body of mist, so it would be a bad idea.

But to make sure that she didn't harm herself, Wind was a bane of Lightning, and thusly her Wind spell surrounding her would keep her safe, not only this, but Amber had determined that she could probably then use her lightning spell that was located inside of the Mist sphere to dole out some further damage. A large glowing yellow sphere of lightning had formed in the area she had placed her spell earlier, and it would conduct right through the mist, creating a massive dome of lightning, of which Amber was protected from by her wind spell.

Amber would grin a bit, only in thanks that the man was holding back. Anything more powerful than that tazer of lightning, and Amber's weak Wind spell wouldn't have been able to hold it back. Heero had then given her the orders to use the entire cloud of mist to hit him, but Amber knew a little bit better than that. She would clasp her hands, together, and the water would converge around Heero, quickly forming into a sphere before lifting it up off the ground-level. Amber knew something about Dragon Slayer Magic, well every type of magic anyways. A person could not recycle their magic, and the lightning present in the Water was Heero's own electricity, meaning she could effectively cause him at least some harm with it.

Amber would then start to run at the sphere of electrified liquid by creating a set of stairs made up of ice, and she would jump up over the ball of water converged around Heero, and she would freeze it, leaving him hovering over the ground about a dozen feet, before the ball would drop, and smash onto the ground, breaking easily on the ground, if Heero was still in it that long, he'd probably be fine, though really cold and wet now. Amber would take a knee for a moment after sliding down on an ice slide that crumbled moments later, "I think I overdid it..."

Amber would note that there was immediately a huge leap in magical power, as Heero's power would immediately quadruple what he was displaying, flinging Amber backwards uncomfortably to quite a distance. Amber would begin standing up. Was play-time over? She would only take a bit of note as Heero was starting to build up a great deal of power, and a storm of lightning was forming around him and expanding rapidly. "So this is it? All I have to do is beat this and I pass?" Amber would say, smiling, unaware that that huge magic was actually more powerful than his earlier techniques.

However the magic pressure was getting much higher, and Amber started to freak out a bit more. She would look at the huge storm of lightning. "That's a pretty big spell... Probably really powerful too," she would say, becoming afraid. Amber's innate fear of powerful magic was starting to kick in, she would kneel a bit and close her eyes to try and ignore the noise despite how close the spell was getting, all she needed to do was think. Pushing herself to a higher level of magic was a hard task, and needed much forethought, but she only had a few more seconds, maybe twenty.

Amber would then open her eyes. She would quickly remove the gold necklaces from her neck and throw them straight at the lightning storm. The gold in the necklaces were wonderful conductors and created a small cone in Heero's storm, and for a few more seconds, would actually hold it back (she was wearing a lot of gold necklaces). Amber would then clap her hands together, and focus. "A true mage can advance beyond the norms by breaking the barriers between everyday elementals, to make something more!" she would say, a really complex sentence, and was wasn't going to repeat it, because god knows she only barely knew what she was saying.

With that though, a pair of magic circles appeared behind her, a red and a green one, and they were turning like a pair of gears. "The power of wind can amplify that of fire by feeding it. But by breaking the elemental barrier..." she would begin, as the circles would merge together, leaving a more complex, dark green magic circle, "I could create a fire that spreads like the wind itself, burning everything and never fading! Elemental Craft: Alchemist's Blaze!" This alone would not be enough, and Amber was still packing too much into it, but she had to shatter the barrier between D-Rank magics and C-Rank magics. It was either now or in a few months after intense lightning-burn therapy.

Another pair of magic circles would appear behind her, Amber letting out a howl of power, the two being blue and yellow. "Water is a great conductor for lightning, but the two are still separate. But by breaking the elemental barrier..." like earlier, the circles would merge, however, the result would be a steel-blue colored circle, "I could make a form of water that shocks and incinerates all that it touches like lightning, and still conducts! Elemental Craft: Goddess's Ambrosia!"

Amber would pant a bit, she had the pent up energy she would need to match the single spell, but it was placing an immense toll on her body. She started to sweat as the storm began inching closer. "This is all I've got!" she would shout. The magic circles would erupt out pair of blasts of strange elements, a dark green fire that slammed against the lightning, and a stream of water-like purple substance that slammed hard into the lightning as well. The spells reached a deadlock, and Amber would thrust her hands forward to keep pressure on the spell. "Come on... I will win this one. Come. On.... PASS!!!" Just as she shouted 'pass' the spells would explode violently, negating each other, and knocking Amber back into the wall just a few feet behind her, and she would slide down to a sitting position, panting, "I can't move anymore... I think I used up all my magic. Did I pass, or not? I need to take a nappy nap."
