    Job Details:

The clock was tickling idly on the wall of Nessa's office, her violet eyes were face down, skimming through tables. A Long white feathered quill in her hand, she scribbled the figures from the weekend, tallying them up. Her free hand was tapping away at her calculator. Her eyes were tired, and her shoulders stiff. She had been shut away in here for a few hours now, catching up on her paperwork. It had been a pretty crazy couples of week, what with the preparations for the Fairy Festival. She had become torn between helping the guild prepare and order necessary materials. It wasn't a cheap endeavour, but it was worth it. There was also the free time she was putting into rehearsing for it. Then actually performing, and judging, it had been a lot of fun, but had taken up a lot of her time. She also had to squeeze in jobs whenever she had the time. She hadn't seen her friends for a while; she caught Arcadia now and then. Aven, however, hadn't been around much lately, but that wasn't exactly a bad thing. Nessa wasn't quite ready to deal with him, not since she found that note. When they did meet it was bound to be an awkward and uncomfortable experience, she didn't even know how she was going to handle it. But that was a concern for another day.

The room was quiet, every for the idle sounds here and there, so when there was a sudden crack, Nessa jumped. A Will O Wisp had appeared in her room, she stared at it, hand over her heart which was racing a little. The wisp dropped several scrolls onto her desk before disappearing once more. Nessa's stared at the space in which it had vanished, before glancing over the pile of scrolls that now littered her desk. Of course, she was in charge of handling job submissions and clientele requests. She had hoped to leave this until tomorrow, but from looking at the pile, it didn't like a great idea. She sighed deeply, before reaching over and picking up a scroll. Pulling open the wax seal, she used her left arm to sweep some of her scrolls to one side of the table. Before spreading the now open scroll in front of her, her hands skimmed the contents. Her eyes widening slightly, what are the odds... She thought as her jaw dropped slightly. She pushed her chair back, reaching into one of her draws, she pulled out a blank piece of parchment. Grabbing her quill once against she began to scribble a rough letter. Once done, she stuffed her letter along with the newly opened scroll inside a fresh envelope. She stood up, quickly heading out of her office. She rushed down the stairs towards the business desk; she reached the Will O Wisp that waited there obediently. "Send this to the West Fiore Trading Company, For the attention of Johann Von Weiss as soon as possible. This is urgent." She ordered it, she handed over the letter, and with a crack, the wisp disappeared, along with her letter.

Nessa had finished up what she could before handing her work to her fellow aces, informing them she would be gone for a day or two. The next day, she set about travelling to Shadow Island. Where hopefully she would be meeting up with Johann to deal with this specific issue. It seemed that the Clockwork creature's they had handled a while back were back, and worse than before. She knew the sensitivity of the issue at hand; if they were still attacking the Garden of Eden, then she knew Johann would want to see to it personally. However, that was yet to be seen, either way, she felt responsible somewhat. She thought they had dealt with the creatures before, ended the problem and continued on happily. Perhaps they had missed something, either way, she felt obliged to check it out.

As the boat she'd hired made it's way to Shadow Island, she couldn't help but noticed that the closer the boat got the darker the skies were. The skies were thick with dark clouds, she could feel the stars, but she couldn't see them. This was always a little off-putting to her, but still, she was well prepared for the potential fight ahead. The creatures had been pretty rough last time, not so much strong but great in number. Plus there had been that monstrosity at the end, thank goodness Johann, and Mars was so powerful. She hoped she would prove more useful this time, she had gotten a little stronger after all. Although she had to admit that her last experience with these creatures had been a massive contribution to that.

The boat pulled into the dock, and Nessa made her way off of the boat. Her eyes began to glow, and the symbol on her neck lit up. "Tiphanae." She summoned, as she continued to walk along the air next to her shift. The wind suddenly picked up, and in a gust, the wind Valkyrie emerged. Falling directly into stride alongside Nessa. Nessa had already contacted the Valkyries and prepared them for what her intentions were, so Tiphanae was fully aware of why she had been summoned. The fair-haired Valkyrie glanced around, "The air feels...impure." She told Nessa, Nessa stopped, looking around to see if Johann was here yet. She didn't actually know if he was coming, but she could only hope, cause whatever this was, she really didn't fancy facing it alone.

Post by Shen Kadokawa 1st December 2018, 7:00 pm

Johann struggled to stay conscious, his vision blurry and distorted, seemingly unable to focus on any detail of his surroundings as he pushed forward, driven by the primal urge to keep going, keep walking to escape whatever this was. Around him walls, masses of ever-shifting, screaming faces rose and fell without any distinct pattern or logic, vanishing as soon as they had made themselves known and disappearing back into what seemed like an unending darkness, the same charcoal black only pierced by what seemed like bright glowing embers from a distance, but had to be closer to raging firestorms and eruptions of flame. In fact, Johann felt the heat from where he was standing right now, scrambling to push forward and past the scorching blaze to reach an end, to finally reach and end. All he could think about was pain, the suffering that would await him if he couldn't find a way out, and he did not know why, but he was certain that untold torment would stretch out its longing arms for him, that the shadows would grip him tightly, swallow him to erase him forever. Pearls of sweat were clearly visible on the silver haired male's forehead, his movement slow, it almost felt like he was wading through deep water that reached up to his hips. The sensation was weird, prompting the man to look down only for his eyes to widen in shock of a sudden realization. That's when the abhorrent pain kicked in. Johann had realized that, in fact, it was not water he was standing in, no, sunken almost to his hip and gradually continuing to sink into the seemingly infinite sea of magma that stretched out into all directions. He fell into a panic, thrashing around, his screams echoing through what seemed like an endless space, sinking deeper and deeper with every move he made. "...This..." the older, hoarse voice rang out to his side, Johann immediately turning his head to the source of the sound "...this is what you have done, Johann von Weiss. Soon ...", Johann in pure shock after seeing the man's face, "soon you will join me in eternal suffering !", the face of Berith, the leader ... former leader of the dark guild "Blood Seal" pushing him under the surface of molten rock, everything around him fading to black.

Johann's eyes opened wide, darting from side to side, the man still breathing heavily as he sat up, closing his eyes once more as he wiped away the cold sweat from his face, wondering how this kind of twisted nightmare had found its way to him. He had returned from a job with Amalie and that member from Fairy Tail just yesterday, it had been a rather curious endeavour to say the least, but he had needed rest, and so, for the first time in what got close to a little while, had actually retreated to his room in the West Fiore Trading Company's HQ to find a night's sleep, instead of getting what he desired rewarded with a horrifying vision of inferno, pain and death. The experience alone was something that startled the Vice President. He had never seen anything quite like this. It had obviously been a dream, but the feeling of fear, the agony, it had felt breathtakingly real. Why was he haunted by these images now, weeks after the events with Berith had unfurled, after he had thought them wrapped up ? Had it been the near death experience from before ? Or was it simply a thing that came with Mars, the Lord of War, merging his being with his own ? Instinctively, he was searching for Mars' presence in his consciousness, but felt nothing, the usual feeling of dread, the feeling of being watched not there at the moment, meaning Mars was in a state of inactivity himself. He sighed, his racing heartbeat finally calming down as he stood up from his bead, heading to the bathroom and heading for the sink, splashing his face with a handful of water. It was already morning once again, meaning his body had gotten some rest at the very least. He would be, could be ready for another normal day at the West Fiore Trading Company's HQ. He wouldn't take on another job in the very near future, that much was sure. Today, the silver haired male would remain at his desk, do his usual thing, work through a mountain of paperwork that seemed to be directed to him by almost every other member of the Company, have a nice breakfast, lunch and dinner before starting the process anew ... or, at least, so he had thought.

Dressed in his usual, white Company coat, the pin of the guild clearly visible on the pouch on his chest, he just made his exit from the Mess Hall of the WFTC after a hearty breakfast, about to head up the stairs and to his office on the first floor when a familiar, female voice rang out, calling his name. "Johann !", the rune mage stopping in his tracks and turning around towards the reception desk. Likely more paperwork, as always. "Alisha. Good morning", the blonde receptionist of the Company giving him a friendly smile. "Good morning ! Glad I can get a hold of you right now,-", Johann smiling back, thinking to himself "Here we go", expecting to be handed some kind of document that needed signing again. "- a letter arrived for you specifically. Apparently, uhm, it's urgent ?", Johann's smile gaining a hint of confusion. It wasn't often he got letters, it was quite rare, in fact, and as such he, with surprise on his face, took the piece of paper that was handed to him, thanking Alisha before heading up the stairs and into the room he used as his office. He closed the door, losing no time as he opened unfolded the document. For a good few seconds, his blank eyes skimmed over the lines of ink, the reality of the words kicking in as soon as the writhing monstrosity inside his head had gotten wind of the newly acquired information, one of his eyes shifting in colour to a deep black before he had even finished reading the letter completely, speaking aloud from the Vice Presidents mouth, "We go. Now". So much for his plans.

The trip to Shadow Island was a short one, Johann notified Alisha of his absence before walking out of the front door, his body turning into wind with the swirl of a breeze before, just second later rematerializing at his target destination, the already familiar dark skies above glowing ever so slightly with gloomy sunlight. Last time he had been here ... he had unleashed Mars' full power and killed Berith. The girl was probably already around, finding her would be the next step, with Johann's heightened senses granted by Mars this not proving to be a problem either, Johann emerging from a group of trees to see Nessa and Tiphanae walking with slow steps, making his way over with accelerated stride "Nessa ! Tiphanae ! I have come as fast as I could", one of his eyes still black with a glowing red pupil sitting in its middle, Mars retaining partial control "Not as fast as it could've been", the words spoken with the Lord of War's voice from the VP's mouth. "How did you find the trail of these Clockwork beings ?", Mars interrupting once again "I don't care how. What matters is to bring the evil to divine justice", the silver haired male shaking his head. It was obvious that, with Mars still being agitated for what had been done to ancestral home in Eden, this endeavour would most certainly prove to be ... more than just a little difficult.

As the girls strode along, Nessa could feel her nerves growing more unsettled. She had even begun to clench and unclench her fists repeatedly in a subconscious display of anxiety. Tiphanae eyed her, sensing the Starlight maiden's disarray of emotions. She reached over and placed a hand on her summoner's shoulder. "It will be fine Nessa Lux, we have dealt with these foes before. Trust in yourself and your Valkyries." She told her, Nessa looked up at her, her eyes softened, and she gave her a small smile. She appreciated that Tiphanae was trying to put her at ease."Yes, I'm sorry, I'll be okay I just want to know what we're facing." Tiphanae gave her shoulder a light squeeze before letting her hand drop once more. The wind Valkyrie sighed, before speaking again, her tone slightly more sombre with the words that followed. "Ellamora has insisted on you summoning Agatha first." Nessa's eyes widened in shock, she shook her head in protest. "But Tiph, you know what happened last time we were together!" The last time she had seen the Lightning Valykrie she had slammed a door in her face. As far as she knew the Valkyrie was still infuriated with her. Out of all the Valkyries, Agatha was not afraid to dish out her magic on Nessa. In fact, when they had been practising one time, Nessa had got a hit in. As a result, Agatha's response to getting hit by Nessa was by releasing a bolt of magic so powerful; the Valkyries had to intervene to stop her from permanently paralysing the Starlight Maiden. Tiphanae shook her head, "I'm sorry Nessa Lux, but she insists, Agatha will be fine. She knows the importance of the mission at hand. However, if she does get too out of hand, I'll send her back, and Ellamora will come in her stead." Nessa bit her lip, still unsure if this was a good idea. Agatha was a very bitter individual and didn't take insults lightly, but she was an excellent fighter. It didn't seem like Nessa had much of a choice, Ellamora knew what she was doing, if she insisted Nessa summon Agatha, then Nessa would be foolish to say no. "Ellamora also suggested you take advantage of the Varja, you haven't used it much, but in fairness, there hasn't been a situation that warrants it's use. That is until now." Nessa nodded, the Varja was an unbelievably powerful weapon, she didn't really feel comfortable with the concept of manipulating such forces. Unlike her own magic when she used the Varja, she felt like she was breaking laws that shouldn't be broken. "You can perk up Nessa Lux, It seems he got your letter." Tiphanae added, Nessa glanced in the direction she was looking. Spotting Johann making his way towards them, Nessa felt herself relax slightly with relief. It was good to see him again, and the reassurance of his unrivalled strength was an added bonus.

"Hey Johann, ...Mars." She said, noticing the single black and red eye, as she had suspected the Lord of War was clearly riled up by the situation. "I'm glad you came," She said, as Tiphanae offered them each a bow. As Johann addressed her with a question, Nessa quickly set about explaining, "It came through as a client request, I was handling the jobs when I came across it and recognised the M.O as the work of the clockwork creatures. It was lucky I was the first one to come across it to be honest, although for now we only now that they've been stationed on this island." She opened her palm, turning it, so it was facing upwards, she summoned her Starlight Guide as she had before. The bouncy star appeared before her, awaiting instruction. "Lead us to the Clockwork creatures lair," She ordered, the star bounced a few times before darting off. Nessa's feet began to glow with Starlight, a means of increasing her speed so they could get their faster. Although she knew if Johann went by himself, he would likely be there in a matter of moments. "Shall we," She said before shooting off after the star. Tiphanae jumped up, unfolded her great white and flew next to her as they made their way across the island.

They ran across the island for a while, not saying anything. Nessa could feel the adrenaline coursing through her already, now that Johann was here she felt less nervous, but there was still an element of uncertainty. Would these creatures be the same as before? Or would they be more menacing? When you didn't quite know what to expect, it was hard not to imagine the worse. "I feel like we're getting close, we should stop and summon Agatha, she doesn't exactly arrive quietly." Tiphanae suggested, Nessa stopped running for a moment. She sighed. "Okay," She turned to Johann, "Umm, I kind of upset the Valkyrie I'm about to summon so there's a possibility that she might be a bit... volatile, just let Tiphanae, and I handle it please." She asked, really not wanting Johann to get involved if things went south, it was a personal matter after all. She hoped Agatha would arrive peacefully and let things go for the sake of the mission, but Nessa had to anticipate the worst with that one. She had the feeling Agatha was to type to start a full-blown war over a minor disagreement if she had to. Nessa's eyes glowed white once more as she summoned the magic of Valhalla, the back of her neck shining with magic through the Norse symbol. Today was the first time she would summon this Valkyrie, or rather it was the first time she was strong enough to summon her. Even so, she could feel it would require more work than the others. She could even feel a little resistance as she began to summon her. "Agatha."

The clouds above grew thicker, darker and more menacing than before. The sound of a storm could be heard in the distance, growing loud and more ferocious. Nessa gulped. Here we go. There was a crack of the lightning, shooting down in front of them, Nessa stepped back as it landed awfully close to her, she threw her hands up to cover her eyes instinctively. Standing where the lightning had struck was a brown-haired Valkyrie with hard features and piercing blue eyes. She wore her full set of blue, gold and silver armour, round shield in one hand and sword sheathed by her side. Her large white wings spread behind her, and her eyes locked on Nessa. She threw her shield in the air, catching its edge, she spun on the spot before launching it at Nessa at an unstoppable speed. The shield struck Nessa in the stomach hard, sending her flying backwards several metres. "Agatha!" Tiphanae barked angrily, Nessa skidding into the ground, rolling to a stop as the shield spun away from her, she shifted onto her side wheezing painfully and gripping her stomach. Coughing a few times, before croaking out a greeting. "G-good to see you too Agatha." Agatha strode over to Nessa standing above the girl, reaching down, she took hold of her arm and lifted her to her feet. Before pulling her close, "Insult me again, and I'll snap your scrawny neck, maiden." She hissed before letting go. "Now let's get on with it," She said turning away and scooping up her shield. Nessa sighed, well at least that was over with, she shot Johann an apologetic look. Her body began to glow as she healed herself, looking over at the dancing ball of Starlight that was eagerly waiting for them to continue following it.

"Right, let's get a bit closer, You two head up into the skies, same as last time. Scout the scene first, and drop into the fray once the fight kicks off." Agatha scoffed before kicking off the ground and soaring into the sky. Tiphanae sighed, "Don't worry, she should be fine now she's got that out of her system. She may be sour, but she's the only one that rivals Ellamora in combat." She said reassuringly before kicking off the ground and joining her fellow Valkyrie. Nessa turned to Johann, "Is there a different way you wanted to do this? Or should we proceed the same as last time?" She asked as she continued to follow after the bouncing star.

Post by Shen Kadokawa 4th December 2018, 1:01 am

"I'm glad too, though ...", it seemed that the girl had taken notice of the glowing, dark eye that was twitching in its socket, Johann already having trouble stopping the Lord of War from simply casting everything else aside where they stood and scour the lands for the blasphemers that had defiled the heavenly gardens, though still managing to return the valkyries bow, albeit a short and rather stiff one. "I see", he replied quickly, holding his twitching left arm in place with his right, struggling against the will of Mars to act right now. "That makes things easier, although I fear I cannot quell Mars' ... "excitement" for much longer", Mars immediately following up from the VP's mouth, though with his own, distinct voice "Excitement ? This is a divine mission, mortal ! Do you even understand the importance of-", "Yes. Yes, I do, please. We will follow you, Nessa, just- let's get this done, and let's do it orderly, understood, demon ?", Mars saying nothing in response, though retracting his iron grip on the silver haired male's body a little. When the girl's feet started glowing with starlight and she began floating floating up, her valkyrie companion extending her wings, Johann did the same, the Lord of War lending him his strength as around his back formed what appeared like long strings of runic scripture that coalesced into a tangible state,"We shall" "About time" both beings inside the one body giving their answer before forming a pair of dark wings that did much the same as the valkyries, lifting Johann and Mars up after the Fairy Tail mage as they started soaring through the sky.

The starlight mage's tracking beacon, or whatever else it could be called, really was a blessing. Of course Johann and Mars could have spent the time searching the island from the sky, though that would've most likely meant scanning every perimeter, and Shadow Island was, while remaining an island, rather large. Still, they were decently high up in the air right now. From here, the silver haired male saw the surrounding area, and even a little past the horizon, his gaze wandering when the one eye he was limited to right now spotted something that made the burning pain in his chest swell, ... a large mountain range digging into the clouds in the distance, his one eye almost instinctively starting to tear up. It had only been a few weeks still, and he could only distract himself for so long. Last time he had been here he, his old self, the man who he had been had gotten crushed by Bertith, died along with a piece of himself that he would never be able to bring back and unleashed upon the world a thing that still, even now, remained an unsolvable enigma to the VP. "We don't have time for that now, old man, you can bitch about your oh-so-horrible life when I'm done doing what I was born for", the deep voice reminding him harshly of their current situation, bringing him back to the here and now. Yeah, the most friendly he wasn't, selfish perhaps. Still, he couldn't help the thoughts skimming across his mind, his body involuntarily tensing up at the images that gradually came back to him, clenching his fists tightly. The flight remained tense, Johann almost glad when Tiphanae broke the silence and requesting them to halt, Johann gently floating down and touching the ground. Listening intently to the words that followed, Jo remained admittedly confused, but nodded regardless, responding simply with "Understood, I'll see what I can do about Mars" in acknowledgement of the Starlight Mage's words, not wanting to offend sensibilities or overstep boundaries in regards to the interpersonal conflicts between the girl's summons and herself. Magic was a highly personal thing, after all, and he would prefer to stay out of that, especially when asked.

Thus the Rune Mage watched, with an impatient growl from the Lord of War, as the sky darkened and the bolt of lightning slammed down before them, a woman in shining armor, which Johann could only speculate was another one of the Fairy Tail Mage's valkyries, appeared. Admittedly, the woman was a sight to behold, Johann already beginning to wonder what kind of abilities she used and her fighting style when she grabbed the edge of her shield and drove it into the Starlight mage. In his brief confusion and a burst of anger, Mars reacted and briefly took full control, drawing the sword still in the scabbard on the VP's hip in a split second. Mars was close to bursting forward and actually using the weapon, his unmasked, murderous intent emanating from him like an aura of pure darkness when Johann regained his senses, stemming himself against the Second Seal with everything he had, the body seizing mid motion. "What are you doing ?! We were asked not to interfere", Mars growling viciously "You were. She attacks her own ally. She is a danger to our flank. Let me eliminate her. Now !", Johann struggling against Mars with everything he had. "Mars, don't forget the real enemy over this. The mission, remember ?", Mars' tense stance loosening, albeit with a heavy growl, to allow the VP to sheathe the sword. "Fine, but I will keep an eye on her, mortal. This is on your responsibility", Johann sighing when the Second Seal gave up his forceful control of the body. Immediately, the Rune Mage hurried over to Nessa, kneeling down beside her, "I'm sorry about that. Are you okay ? Do you need healing ?", the questions already answered for him when the girl got back up, Jo relieved that she seemed fine. Still, he understood Mars' impulse, for a split second he had even debated with himself over letting the Lord of War proceed, but shook these thoughts off, returning to the more important task at hand. "No complaints from me, one thing before we start, though", the Vice President of the West Fiore Trading Company stretched out his hand, certain that the girl remembered the runic bracelet he was offering once again from last time, applying it to himself after, the surge of magical energy rushing through his body. "With that out of the way, Nessa ..." he spoke, his eye still shining with darkness and crimson, Mars finishing his sentence "Let us partake in punishment".

Post by Nessa Cordelia Lux 7th December 2018, 11:35 am

Nessa smiled at Johann's response; she could tell he wasn't having the easiest time right now. He was usually a composed individual, but this was a sensitive matter, and it wasn't to be handled lightly. The last time they had handled these creatures they had been in the Garden of Eden after all, his equivalent to Valhalla. Nessa wondered if there was another portal lying in wait for them, or if these creatures were trying to infest somewhere different. Either way, the soon they handled the pests the better.

After attacking Nessa, there was a thick tension in the air as Mars released a murderous aura, and Johann attempted to restrain him. Nessa watched the situation cautiously, the last thing she needed for Mars and Agatha to fight, she had the feeling that the result of such a battle would be catastrophic, both of them were ruthless fighters, she couldn't imagine either them giving up until someone was dead. Also, this really was the time, when there were more important matters at hand. The longer they wasted time, the worse the situation would get. Agatha rolled her neck slightly in a stretching motion, glancing over at the Lord of War with a challenging glare. Her right hand was resting casually on the hilt of her sword, as though ready to draw at any moment if necessary. Nessa stepped between them, "It's fine really. I know what it looks like but Agatha is trustworthy, I wouldn't summon her otherwise," She explained, hoping this would ease some of the tension. She looked at Johann as he checked on her wellbeing, she shook her head, "I'm okay, thank you, I used a healing spell, so good as new. Believe it or not, she didn't actually throw it as hard as she could of, I think she was going easy on me." She said with a chuckle, glancing awkwardly at Agatha who suddenly seemed to be pretending not to listen.  Nessa knew for a fact that if Agatha wanted to, she could have easily cracked several of Nessa's ribs and worse, it didn't necessarily justify the behaviour, but it did make Nessa wonder if she was growing a little softer towards her. Tiphanae scoffed, "I will be telling Ellamora about this Agatha, that was unacceptable and if we didn't have a mission right now, I would be pulling my sword on you myself." Agatha rolled her eyes, "Yeah, yeah, Tiph. You talk too much," She replied in a bored tone, earning a furious glare from her fellow Valkyrie.

Johann's next comment brought them back to the mission at hand, Nessa grinned, eager to return to the task. "Let's." She replied in a determined tone, turning toward the floating star that was patiently waiting for them. The space around her trainers glowing with magical light, she kicked off against the ground. Feeling a sense of purpose once more. The wind whipped against her face as she ran even faster than before, as she ran, orbs manifested around her, circling her body as she went. Slowly she rose from the ground, the magical bursting from her feet pushing her through the air at an even greater speed. She was so focused on getting to the lair, she almost collided straight into a giant mechanical wasp. She rolled out of the way as it whizzed past her head, spinning a few times in the air before stopping herself. She spun to face it, the wasp turned in the air with her. "Go on, I'll catch up once I've dealt with this," She called out to the others, not sure if they could hear her. This had to be one of the creatures that had been mentioned in the report, and although it's shaping and design was different, it was definitely built the same as the others had been. A cluster of cogs, bolts and chunks of metal. Nessa summoned several orbs to her side, the wasp buzzed at her in a threatening manner. It shot forward, and in response so did her orbs of Starlight. Slamming into the wasp, one by one, she watched as the wasp was smashed to pieces before dropping to the floor defeated. She eyed it in mild surprise, that was easier than she thought it would be.

After a moment, she heard the same buzzing coming from out of nowhere, growing louder and louder. She turned, moving back slightly as she realised four more of the creatures had joined her. The horde of robotic wasps all flying at her at once, the Starlight mage shot upwards into the sky, narrowly avoiding their stingers. She rolled through the air once again, releasing another wave of orbs as she did so. She stopped against a tree branch, using it to steady herself. Two of the wasp drones were hit head-on with a total of two orbs each, which was enough to destroy them both. One Wasp managed to escape it and was currently being chased down. The remaining had been hit with one orb, but didn't fall; instead, it suddenly shot towards her. Nessa allowed herself to drop away from it, and luckily so, as out of nowhere the wasp exploded. In that instant, Nessa summoned the orbs to whirl around her, forming a glowing whirlwind around her body, just in time as the explosion from the wasp collided with her. Fortunately, due to the combination of her spell and the magical bodice she was wearing underneath her clothes, the force of the spell was reduced enough not to deal any damage, but it was a close call. It was also still forceful enough to knock her to the ground. She groaned in frustration as she quickly climbed to her feet, annoyed at her carelessness. On the plus side, at least that one was gone, but there was still one more. She glanced around, unable to see it. She took a breath, trying to sense it. She heard a buzz and threw her palm out to her right as the remaining wasp whirled towards her. Three orbs burst from her hand, smashing straight into the face of the wasp. It crumbled to the ground, and the buzzing was gone. She sighed in relief, that hadn't been a difficult fight, but the number in which they had appeared concerned her. She wasn't even at the lair yet, just how many of those things would she be facing. She lifted off the ground and turned to make her way after the others.

Post by Shen Kadokawa 11th December 2018, 7:01 am

What kind of summon would do this to their summoner ? Johann could only be left wondering ... though, now that he was thinking about it, most summoners he had come across had some kind of weird or strange dynamic going on with at least one, if not more or even all of their summons. Was that one of the requirements for being a summoner ? Johann would never quite understand. "I see", Johann spoke, "At least we're still good to go", shooting the Valkyrie a disapproving look before applying the runes to both himself and the girl. "What an unpleasant personality, though" the silver haired Vice President of the West Fiore Trading Company couldn't help but think. Still, he knew that they had come here for a reason, a good reason, in fact. From Johann's point of view, the two mages, both from a guild that had found themselves in the newly formed, mutual alliance of independent guilds, had to stop this issue with the Clockwork machinations for good, their sporadic appearance a threat to all people of Earthland. What if, instead of desolate Shadow Island, they suddenly popped up right on Tolgalen ? Or in the center of Magnolia ? It would mean devastation and suffering. If not simply for Mars' overwhelming lust for revenge they had to put an end to these Clockwork invasions to protect the people.

When Nessa began her sprint Johann followed suit, the dark strings that formed wings sprouting from his back and easily lifting him up in the air, hovering above the ground just a meter or two before bursting forward, his speed adjusted to that of the Starlight Mage. Before they had even begun trying to find the way to their enemy however, it had seemed that just a little bit later, their enemy had found them, Nessa slamming into one of the robotic beings mid flight, ensuing in a fairly close quarters brawl. Nessa had said something in passing, but Johann had no chance to listen more closely, let alone respond to her shouting, Mars already violently and without warning pushing his conscioussness to the side as he took over, the other eye changing colour to match the one of onyx hues. Just the sight had of these things had been enough to push already agitated Lord of War over the edge, his blood boiling with rage. Out of nowhere, it seemed like they were suddenly being swarmed with more and more of the Clockwork beings, resembling oversized wasps in shape and appearance, though much like their metallic counterpart from Eden entirely construct in nature. Without delay, he summoned forth the black scythe into his right hand, a swirl of ink black energy forming the weapon pure antimatter that immediatly lit up with dark, scorching fire. "There you are", the Second Seal grinned from ear to ear, the crazed look in his eyes only intensified through the glow of the runes that flared up all over the vessel's body. "Your lives are mine, you lowly abominations", all playfulness gone from his voice, leaving only the deep, growling sound of distortion that followed his every tone, every word booming with hate.

Now finally the time for payback had come. He would bring destruction to those that had brought destruction to the sacred realm. A group of 5 of these drones had appeared from the nearby treelines, surrounding him and rushing forward, their stingers aimed at the vessel. Without much time for fancy display or any hesitation, Mars spun the blade in his hands, firmly grasping it with both before swinging it around and through the first wasp, its form scattering into dust immediately upon impact. This, of course, did nothing to stop the creatures from closing in on him, almost at the point where they would be upon the Second Seal. Mars reacted, his form vanishing into nothing in an instant, reappearing higher up in the air, his palm facing down. "Perish", his voice almost gentle as projectile of pure antimatter spawned by the curse he had used slammed down into the ground, an explosion rocking the surrounding area, the enemy torn apart in an instant. He had probably alerted every Clockwork being within a mile radius. It mattered not. This was exactly what he wanted. He would wipe out every last one of them, erase them from the annals of history, scatter their broken and ground down bodies, their dust, into all the world's winds and make sure that not a trace of these filthy heretics would remain.

Markus watched as the portal closed behind him. Traveling through void was still a new experience for the mage. With a slight curve of his lips the mage looked around. He felt… home. The entire area was cast in heavy shadow and obscured by dark clouds. There was not a single shaft of iridescent light in sight. Yet the sky above seemed to glow eerily, after all it was still daytime yet the clouds held. The chaos mage would actually find this to be a rather preferable, were it not for his reason for coming. Quickly glancing at a pond at his feet the mage took in his still somewhat jarring appearance.

A pale face, warn and hard with trials and tribulations looked back at him, it was a handsome face, preferable Markus knew, yet he never could seem to remain in a relationship. He knew his personality was the reason for that. Accenting his pale skin was long crimson hair, reaching beyond his shoulders and currently sitting loosely upon his head. The eyes that looked back at him were cold, calculating, prepared. The man looked apathetic, as if he wouldn’t care one way on another the fate that befallen upon those who met his gaze.

Falling upon his shoulders Markus could feel his new vestments pressing upon him. While within the Void the chaos mage had spent much of a year creating and assembling his new vestments. Currently the mage wore a pare of heavy black boots which came to just under his knees, covering upon theirs sides were thick buckles and black carved runes. Under them were his black pants, and a heavy sash held with an ornately carved metal studded belt. Pouches of various sized dotted his hips, some with weapons, others with items. His torso was mostly bare, a black mesh shirt, see through and carved in runes ‘covered’ his chest, and on top of that was a heavy black cloak which seemed to shimmer and shift on its own, like ink on water. His upper arms were left bare, sleeves cut at the shoulders, and his guild tattoo remained surrounded by an intricate tribal tattoo resembling thorns. Directly under his biceps, covering from shoulder to fingers were pure white bandages, looking almost freshly applied. With a careful look one would notice their intricate stitching and hidden runes. Markus had lived for years having to learn to survive, and thrive in a horrendous environment, these vestments were the result of that time, a testament to survival blessed by Chaos itself.

Markus always hated looking at his reflection, yet never could seem to look away without a struggle. He knew what he was, what he was capable of, and of those he had hurt. There was no need for him to dwell. Looking up, he got ready for the task at hand.

Slowly, warily, attentively Markus scouted the area. Turning his head, he scanned the horizon for monsters, enemies, and other possible dangers. Not that being noticed was very likely; the chaos mage had a natural inclination to subtlety. After all, the shadows hugged his body, and concealed his tracks, hiding him from view as they have for years. Markus knew this land accented his magic perfectly, yet even with that in mind he kept his eyes open and his ears to the ground. The mage had been surprised one too many times in the past, it seemed like him those that stalk in the shadows do not need light to find their prey. Markus had always had trouble with his… flippant attitude towards his own safety, and it had almost gotten him killed while in the void. He promised he would be better at such things, yet some days he could not bring himself to care.

Turing his whole body he examined the tall brush, the trees, and the area around him. He felt the itch of the cold, half-dead leaves brushing his neck. Repressing a shiver, he smiles to himself and looks at his companion. The one constant. Next to Markus sat a large black wolf, her fur as dark as night, her eyes glowing like a red harvest moon. She was watching the surrounding area, just as intently as Markus just did, her eyes acting as a second set of protection, glowing moons within the shadows. The chaos mage always felt most comfortable with her at his side.

Markus walked forward thinking of the void, and of the past, being without Hela had been… terrifying. The chaos mage had been forced to deal with the Mímisbrunnr all on his own. The experience had changed Markus, as he saw what he could become. The well has shown the damage the chaos mage was capable of, and the truth of his… friendships. Markus thought back to the ball, it had gone about as well as the mage expected, and he had not seen anyone sense. Yet still, he thought of her words often enough.

As always since then Markus kept himself busy with jobs, preferably those which took him away from awkward encounters with his guild mates. Most days he was in Magnolia he kept to the forests, and at time frequented the guild in order to examine the boards. He always went at night, when he knew most of the members save his teammates would be asleep. Most recently Markus had found himself within the Cursed Lands, dealing once more with a monster problem. He had taken the job and took off without a word, after all it was within his rank and as such needed no approval. However, while there he had heard strange tells and whispers of hideous creatures and machinations. The chaos mage, wishing to waste no time, and needing no excuse to stay away, had sent Arinia back to the guild informing whichever ace that was present that he would be longer than expected, and had found a ‘job’ that seemed urgent. He knew there would be questions when he got back, however unlike himself Arinia could not travel through the void on her own. At best she would have arrived the day before, or tonight at worst, so Markus had nothing to worry about, even if someone was there to get her letter immediately no one would ask questions, and by the time they did Markus would have returned with his report. Assuming that the rumors were true and the chaos mage had not come to this land for nothing.

Markus could hear a storm in the distance, and suddenly saw a bolt of lightning some distance from him. With a raised brow Markus looked at the sky around him, the storm had appeared and gone suddenly, without warning. The mage wondered what had caused it, but in the end decided that either it would remain a mystery, or Markus would deal with it sooner or later. As such, he returned to the path ahead of him, preparing for what was to come. Walking forward, the chaos mage was heading deeper and deeper into the island. He knew that such a place would have dangerous creatures, and his caution was proved worthy then he suddenly heard a heavy buzzing sound.

Looking through the tree lines Markus could make out five buzzing creatures. Flying through the air were what could only be described as giant wasps. The creatures, if they could be called that, flew thought he air with strange wings, and dangerous stingers. From here Markus could make out that this creature was in no way living, but was instead mechanical in every way. He could see gears and cogs, shifting machines, and weapons. With a sign Markus was getting ready to take a step forward, dark energy crackling through his fingers when he stopped, he could see trees shifting on his right as a strange creature came through the brush.

A sudden chill ran down Markus’ spine, and he took in a breath. He had seen a creature like this before, long ago with a wizard name 7. This one however was.. different, definitely a tortured being, but in an entirely different way. The creature looked like a mangled corpse, stretched to an unimaginable length with mechanical legs coming from the body. A centipede like nightmare of a creature. From here Markus could make out its strange arms and terrifying weapons, large flamethrowers spanned in all directions. Taking a breath Markus decided how to deal with this.

Holding up his hand Markus suddenly felt a pain in his stomach as his magic took its toll. Markus watched as a beam of pure darkness appeared in front of his fingers, looking like a hole in the universe. Markus watched as it started to spin slowly. With a grin Markus released the magic. In rapid succession a single shot smashed into each of the strange drone creatures, piercing through their bodies and leaving a hole the size of a pen. Seconds after the attack hit, five small explosions rang out as the mechanics within the creatures blew up.

Turning his hand towards the weird centipede creature Markus released the final three shots in rapid succession. He watched as the creature stopped moving, and slumped to the ground. Taking a step forward, Markus examined the remains.

Suddenly the creature shot back up, strange eyes glared at the creature, the head was cocked to an unnatural angle. Markus watched as it slithered around him before stopping and rearing back on half of its body. With a horrid cry and wail a dark ball of shadows appeared between its extended hands and shot itself at the chaos mage.

With utter apathy Markus remained still as the attack surged towards him. How dare this creature force him to once more kill it. Taking a breath Markus opened himself to the void just as the dark magic hit him. He felt the strange energy surge down his throat, burning his insides yet bolstering his magic. With a wicked grin Markus looked at the creature unharmed.

“Oh… You should know better to launch darkness magic at a slayer.” Markus said his eyes clear and cold. He felt good, this was only the second time he had been able to devour shadow magic. It tasted… strangely good, as if it was meant to be. With a strange look to his eyes the Chaos mage waved his hand through the air, sending a wave of pure dark energy surging into the strange creature which shattered under the might.

Markus, getting tired of the grueling situation continued on his path. He needed to get to the lair, and end this. The fact that these creatures used shadow magic only made his job that much easier, but that much more boring. After all, how was he to challenge himself when these creatures restored his Magical Power for him.

Without much care the chaos mage continued forward every once in a while dealing with another group of drones, though he had yet to encounter another of the nightmarish centipedes. Taking a breath the mage found himself in another clearing. Glancing back and forth the mage took a breath as he seemed to be alone. This job was proving to be more substantial than the mage had expected. The creatures took concentration, and his heavier spells to take out, and some of them took multiple…

Then he heard it, a thump, followed by the movement of trees. Then a thud, and the chaos mage watched as a tree not 10 meters from him fell to the ground. With a final crash a twisted creature stepped into the clearing, eyes trained on the mage.

The create was giant, far larger than a house, and made for one purpose. To kill intruders. Caring a halberd in one hand, and an open fist with the other it wore a patch work backpack with many bladed appendages. Markus knew, flying anywhere near the creature would result in injury. With a flash of movement the creature attacked, its halberd swinging towards the dark mage.

There was a sound it the air, a rip in the fabric of space and time. Suddenly, the mage was gone having avoided the attack he pulled up his hand and formed a talon of dark magic. Appearing once more behind the knight Markus flashed the talon through the air and released five scythes of pure dark magic. His eyes flared with chaos as he reached for the void, once more connecting himself with the powers on Chaos.

As the blades hit the creature, it let out a cry of pain before looking once more at Markus. The attack, one of Markus’ strongest, had seemed to do nothing but annoy the beast. Markus dived to the side as a fist came crashing down on his location, grazing the mages side. Markus felt as the protective enchantments of his vestments broke under the weight. Markus knew a rib had cracked, and if it was not for his armor it would have been much worse.

Suddenly he heard a voice… “Well then, it seems you need me. Just this once, take my power. Do not die.” The voice was feminine, and familiar, cold but calculating. As the voice died down to the back of Markus’ mind he felt a surge of power, and his hair shifted as if blown by an invisible wind. Suddenly, his eyes changed becoming pure white, and holding a small ethereal glow. Markus smiled, he had felt this power once before when fighting with Amalie, and Johann. This time however, he was kept in control.

Markus watched as the creature attacked again, it was fast, far faster than Markus should have been able to avoid. Yet, as soon as it entered Markus’ range the aura he now produced kicked in. With a wicked grin Markus took a step to the side, the creature was slowed to only half its speed. In fact this aura was so much so that all creatures other than Markus would be slowed if he desired it.

Markus looked to the side as the first landed next to him, his rib was still broken and he could see that his arm was bleeding. Markus felt his magic once more damage him, and left as blood trickled down his mouth. The mage cocked his head as more power flooded into him. This, he could manage…

Nessa would continue on to fly through the woods, she found Johann a short distance away, having shifted into full gear. He was working away at the wasps with ease. With all the noise he was making, it was pretty obvious the monsters knew they were here. Now, it was just a matter of riding the storm until it passed, exterminating every last one of these creatures until they ceased to exist. Just like they had before. Nessa threw herself into the fray once more, firing orbs left, right and centre. Manoeuvring quickly out of the way to avoid any further explosions. Now that she knew how they worked, it was easier to get rid of them effectively. tiphanae dropped down from above the trees to fly next to the Nessa, "As ruthless as I remember," She said, nodding at Johann, Nessa grinned at the wind Valkyrie, glancing over to see her sword covered in the blood-oil of the machine. It seemed she had already dealt with some of the creatures. Nessa wondered momentarily how Agatha was fairing; she hadn't seen her since she darted off into the sky. Tiphanae's eyes widened suddenly, she was no longer looking at Nessa but past her shoulder.

Nessa felt a rumble through the trees, turning around to see what it was, she spotted something eerily familiar. Tree would be felled as the monsters beast rumbled towards them. A replica of the monstrosity they had faced back in the Garden of Eden, only slightly modified. She would fly towards it, ready a spell to hit it with. Only as she got closer, she stopped, she recognized a figure already fighting it. Nessa looked at the scene with an expression of shock, what was he doing here? She thought, before heading closer. "Markus?" She said aloud, Tiphanae who had been following her, glanced over, wearing an equal expression of surprise. "Markus, as in the dark magic user from your guild?" She asked, Nessa nodded in answer. In their moment of distraction, Neither Nessa nor Tiphanae the wasp coming. Flying at them from below, Nessa heard the buzz, but as she glanced over the single wasp was flying at her too fast to dodge. Its stinger pointed in her direction out of nowhere an arm shot out in front of her, the large stinger burying itself inside Agatha's arm.

"Agatha!" Nessa cried, her attention pulled away from Markus, the lightning Valkyrie said nothing. Reaching over, she grabbed the wasp by the middle. Yanking it hard, the stinger snapped off at its base. Turning Agatha would launch the wasp against a tree, then throw out her wounded arm, and blast it with a bolt of lightning from her palm. The wasp light up, electrified by the spell, Agatha would fly forward, driving her sword through the creatures neck and beheading it entirely. "Agatha your arm..." Tiphanae said looking at the stinger still stuck inside it. Agatha glanced at it, reached over she yanked out the stinger. Throwing it away casually, Tiphanae made her way over, tearing off from of the fabric of the dress under her armour. She would quickly go about bandaging her sisters wound. Agatha looked over at Nessa, who was staring at her wounded arm in complete surprise. "Agatha... thank you...I-" The Valkyrie shot her a look that silenced her, "Just pay more attention to your surroundings maiden." She said sharply. Nessa nodded, she understood, Agatha wasn't interested in her gratitude. Nessa would just have to find some other way to thank her. Turning back to the monster at hand, Nessa noticed Markus was still facing the creature, only now he was bleeding.

Nessa shot towards him, "Mind if I join you," She said with a small grin, she floated down next to him. She threw out her arm, palm facing towards the beast, she summoned a cage of starlight. The cage would fall down on the beastly humanoid robot, shrinking so as to trap its movement. Once it was small enough to constrict the creature, the inside of the cage would explode with magical light. "Do you need me to heal you?" She said to Markus, eying his wounds. Normally, she would've asked what he was doing here? Get more information from him. This was a strange place to be bumping into each other. But there wasn't time for that, the most important matter at hand was to deal with the monsters they were facing. Idly, Nessa would summon a spear in one hand and drive it through the cage, into the beast inside. Earning a pained scream.

"Aporia ... you and your host ... here ?", Mars slammed into the ground beside the two other mages, immediately diving down from the swarm of drones above when he had felt the familiar onslaught of energy from one of the very few beings in existence he recognized as his equal. In one hand, he held the quietly buzzing, twitching corpse of a mechanical wasp, paying it little mind as he seemingly crushed it with ease, the crumbled, robotic remains thrown away like nothing but rubbish before he spun around the scythe in his other hand to stand up. "What a pleasant coincidence, really. Now that the two of you are here you can aid me and my vessel exterminate the insolent heretics that have sullied the Gardens of Eden with their filthy presence". Quickly, the Lord of War turned around, observing the scene that was unfolding after he had arrived over his shoulder while trying to keep an eye out for the mechanical monstrosities that now started appearing from every corner, every tree, every nook and cranny of this truly desolate place. WHoever had come up with these ... foolish imitations of life had spread them across the perimeter generously, the buzzing of mechanical wings almost threatening to drown out all other natural sounds. "Don't mean to disturb your lover's reunion, but if you have time for idle chatter then you might as well start exterminating". Still, the others seemed to have taken a few hits already, and it wouldn't exactly contribute to their efficiency if they were hampered by something as insignificant as an injury. "This should help", Mars spoke briefly, deeply blue runes lighting up on one hand as he waved it through the air, a light trickle of rain beginning to fall. The spell would begin to heal the damage that Aporia's vessel and the girl's summon had sustained. Perhaps it wouldn't quite be enough, but sufficient for the time being.

"I take it you got this one", the Second Seal grinned as he lazily pointed at the now caged metal abomination that seemed wholly ineffective against the two mages. "Let's finish this with combined strength", speaking briefly before releasing a burst of magic that swept over the area like a wave of aura, swirling to the forms of allied mages before wrapping tightly around their wrists. The Starlight Maiden would recognize this spell as the chromatic bracelet of runes that Johann had given her on the mission to Eden, allowing both Nessa and Markus to infuse their magic with one of 10 elements as they pleased. With that, the Lord of War took off once more, the dark, ornate wings spreading on his back as he began floating upwards gracefully, heading straight towards the swarm of mechanical drones low in the sky, the scythe covered in ink-black flame leaving a trail of fire behind him as he spun it around, grasping it firmly with his right hand.

Thus, once more, Mars would throw himself into the fray. Immediately, 2 wasps rushed forward, their long, sword-like stingers raised up in an attempt to dig them into the flesh of the vessel. Mars grinned, an incredibly quick, horizontal slash with the scythe instantly separating the two mechanical beings into halves, both exploding into a cloud of smoke and oil as the lifeless pieces fell to the ground. Without any delay more and more drones started swarming towards Mars, who now stretched out his free hand, a brief flash of light flaring up in it before the Lord of War grasped the Sword of War within his other hand, swinging the two blades wildly, destroying wasp after wasp with each strike of the red blade and the onyx, burning scythe. Gradually, however, with each kill, it seemed like two more would show up, the swarm growing more and more before eventually, with a deafening buzz, surrounding Mars entirely like a cloud of mechanical parts, shifting gears and piercing stingers. "Really ?", Mars couldn't help but smile with glee at the barrage of opponents around, "You think this is fair ? What is this, like, 50 versus 1 ?", a playful grin curling up the corners of his lips as the runes all over his body began to glow with deeply scarlet intensity.

Immediately, his form burst with scorching, pitch-black flame that almost seemed to swallow all light, clinging to the mechanical drones and destroying the swarm around him in a nigh instant, singed, blackened and still burning robot-wasps falling to the ground all around. So much for this lot. Floating back down, Mars was happy with the carnage his aura alone had caused, the swarm above, safe from stragglers here and there, almost entirely eradicated. Now it was time to deal with all these ground dwelling, mechanical monsters. From the treeline not far away two more of the twisted, mechanical centipede looking things emerged, flames shooting off from their forms all over, the things covered in flamethrowers. Mars was pleased. Perhaps this would be more fun than initially assumed. Bursting forward in a sudden, massive increase of speed the Lord of War swung his scythe, cleaving a large chunk out of the form of one of the beasts, a jet of flame his answer. He barely managed to avoid the fire that obscured the creatures form, leaping backwards as he spun the scythe around once again, sliding across the ground, the edges of his right sleeve singed and burned to black from the heat. This only excited the Lord of War more. Immediately he swerved his hand around, lifting up the blade before swinging it down, a magic circle flaring up beneath the monster. Without delay, it was pulled down by its own weight, crashing into the ground before exploding into a cloud of fire, the flammable material inside it igniting all at once as it crumbled into nothing but scrap metal. If this would go on like this ... this extermination would be over in no time. Perhaps the 3 could even have some fun in the process ? Mars certainly started having his fun ...

Markus turned his head and raised an eyebrow as suddenly he was n longer alone. As he was preparing for the next attack, a slight grin on his face, he heard a very familiar voice, and his own name. His eyes, still dancing with chaotic energy found the speaker. Nessa? The starlight maiden and ace of Fairy Tail had suddenly shown in the most improbable place Markus would have ever expected. Next to her was a female Markus had only seen once before, a delicate looking female with light colored hair and white wings. It took Markus a mere moment to comprehend what was going on, somehow she had gotten his message early. Would she really have come to his aid, or did she hear the same rumors and come completely on her own?

Markus’ attention was drawn away as he suddenly felt movement to his side.  He could see the creature he was just fighting in the corner of his eyes, its movements still slowed by his magic. Markus was not worried about It, now he was just toying with the beast, besides he had time. His eyes however widened as suddenly Nessa found herself being attacked by one of the hornets.

Raising his arm and preparing to launch a beam of dark magic the chaos mage realized it would be to late, he could deal with the creature but not until after it had hurt her. Suddenly however, another female form flew into the fray, her arm catching the attack from the creature before she dealt with it in an expert manor. She was dressed in armor as well, with dark hair and had a steeled expression, as if annoyed by the situation. With that dealt with Markus turned to handle his own opponent as Nessa joined him. With a small grin she floated next to him and summoned a cage around the creature, giving them a  moment to talk.

Markus could feel chaos stirring inside of him, the force that had been awakened was getting impatient, and seemed to be reacting to something in the air. The chaos mage fought her as he spoke up. “No need, I have gotten a little better at taking care of myself.” He said calmly about to deal with his own wounds, which were already starting to heal on their own, when suddenly, another person Markus knew landed among the group. The voice however was far different from what Markus remembered, it was deeper, more resolute. He spoke to Markus directly, yet referred to… Aporia? How did he know about her.

“Hey Joha…” Markus started before he then felt a consciousness rip into his mind, forcefully shoving him into his own subconscious. The feeling was… strange, he could feel his body but knew he was no longer in control, suddenly he was a watcher in his own skin. ‘Sorry Progeny, but I’m taking over for a bit. It is not often I get to speak to my brother.’ The voice was in his mind, as if coming out of a deep slumber, the feeling the power was very much hers.

“Ahhh, Mars, we really need to stop meeting like this.”
The voice was apathetic, feminine, calming, yet… dangerous. As if being spoken from far off the voice matched the movement of his lips, but was overlaid over his own, as if both she and Markus were speaking at once.

“It is most certainly a pleasant surprise, meeting both you and… her here.” ‘his’ eyes flicked to the starlight maiden, the tone was a mix of sadness and surprise, as if the speaker had a secret to share but knew she could not. However, ‘his’ face turned to anger as Mars spoke of these beasts desecrating The Garden. Suddenly, there was an explosion of dark energy, chaotic, and void-like, and oppressive. The force of Aporias presence would match that of her brothers, and it would slow all in range as they suddenly felt as if moving through water. When the darkness faded, Markus’ form had changed. Aporia had fully taken over in rage, the chaos mages hair was now flecked with white, his eyes now black and void of whites. Two large void like raven wings now stretched from his back, the tips of the feathers cirmson as if flecked in blood. Aporia cracked a secret smile as Mars spoke again, referring to her vessel and his… lovers? Reunion.

“How could they be lovers?” She asked out loud, “Nothing happened that night.” Her voice would be amused, yet her hatred and anger would still be apparent. She cared far more about these creatures than the irony of the situation. As Mars healed her, she would raise her hand pointing at the two mages. The feeling of her presence would be reversed, instead bolstering their speed and that of their spells, by a significant margin.

She would then have her vessel walk to Mars, as she felt his power attach itself to her wrist. She knew very much how she would handle this. “You always were one of the most powerful of us all.” She would say plainly before glancing down at his host. “And, it seems your vessel shares that power, how about you show these… fools, the error of their ways.” Her hand would glow with an ethereal black light as she touched his shoulder, suddenly pushing a large amount of Markus’ own power into the other man. Leaving only enough to be certain her host would not die in the coming fray.

As her brother took off to enjoy himself she turned to the woman still next to her, and smiled at the Starlight Maiden, it was the kind of smile a sister might give to her brothers boyfriend when they first meet. the kind which says, 'I like you, but Watch yourself'. She would examine the other woman is if inspecting a suitor, in the end she nodded. Nessa had grown much in the time sense that night, when she spoke her voice, for a brief second, held no anger no emotion, and spoke much like Markus would. “He would be… disappointed if I allowed anything to happen to you. I still believe it is his greatest weakness, but until he settles it, know you are safe in my presence. I have just given Mars a significant sum of my power, if you care for him at all as he does for you than once you steel yourself I need you to launch your most powerful spell, directly at me.” She would then turn, ignoring whatever reply she had and take off into the air following her brother but going to deal with her own coming horde. She cared not if Nessa actually followed her orders, she knew her host had enough power to deal with such creatures, however if The Starlight Maiden were to do such, Aporia would be able to unlock Markus’ Chaos Force, an ability she knew the mage had no idea he possessed.

As she flew to the closest horde she would smile and wave her hand forcing the void to open up and summon ten rips in space and time, all at once an onslaught of void bolts would appear, decimating the closes ten enemies, before the rips would close to look like pinpricks of light, prepared to attack again soon. The remaining enemies she dispatched by sending a wave of chaotic energy in all directions from her form.

The Seal was actually enjoying herself, she could feel the power of her brothers presence nearby, and the significant sum of the female wizard, it had been a long time since she had enjoyed battle, for a second she wondered if it was due to how these creatures had decimated her home. It would surprise the seal of chaos to learn she actually cared. She felt her body suddenly shift as the chaotic magic she controlled damaged her form, and restored some of her mana.

Post by Nessa Cordelia Lux 27th December 2018, 4:00 pm

Fortunately for Nessa, Markus didn't seem too disappointed in her arrival. At least, she didn't think he was; he didn't exactly seem pleased about it either. Although who could tell with Markus. He wasn't exactly the most emotionally revealing person she knew, for all she knew he could be furious, but she would barely be able to tell because he kept himself so well hidden. He declined her offer to heal him; she didn't fight him on the matter mainly because she could already see his wounds starting to heal themselves. That much, at least was a relief.

As Johann and Mars made their way over to the pair, Nessa was surprised to hear Mars address Markus directly, as Aporia? Nessa frowned, confused by his words. Did he have him confused with someone else? But that didn't make sense, she was sure Markus had told her during their conversation at the Winters Ball that the two of them had met. Was this some friendly nickname between them? Nessa was about to assume that it was until something even more bizarre happened.

Because as Markus spoke, his voice suddenly changed, sounding like a combination of his own voice, and a woman's layered on it. Nessa jumped back at the sound of it, momentarily stunned. What the... She thought, as he... or she would reply to Mars directly. Confirming that they did know each other, Nessa listened, unsure what to say. Was this the right time to ask what the hell was going on? They were sort of in the middle of something important; enemies were quickly making their way towards the group all the while they were chatting. The voice, Markus, whatever or whoever it was, referred pointedly to Nessa as 'her', causing Nessa to scowl slightly, now just what did he mean by that?

Mars would go on to explain their reasoning for being there, talking about the two of them could help in the extermination of the heretics that had 'sullied the Gardens of Eden' as he so nicely put it. Nessa found herself wondering, was he talking to her and Markus, or Markus and someone else? This whole situation was very confusing.

"Er..." She began not really sure how to phrase her question or whether to ask it at all. Her thought track, however, was yanked apart by Mars little comment, referring to the two of them in such a way that would cause her cheeks to flush with heat

    As lovers.

"WHAT?!" She barked loudly at him, to make matters worse, Markus replied by making an off-handed remark about that night. If it were physically possible, steam would have been billowing out of Nessa's ears right now. She lost her cool, any measure of calm she had been containing gone. She rounded on Markus, momentarily forgetting that they had witnesses. "Nothing huh? Interesting perspective, but I guess that's how you would remember it right, consider how we're not lovers. " She hissed the last part with the venom of a woman scorned, "Whatever, It doesn't even matter." She said, crossing her arms over her chest, she couldn't help it, that comment had stung a little. It was then that she could feel Mars healing magic wash over her. As well as the rune bracelet he had used with a few times before; if she wasn't so angry right now, she might have thanked him. It was a little bit of an over the top reaction, probably more emotional than she had intended it to be. But not only did she feel very left in the dark right now, but she also felt somewhat humiliated.

Mars left to two of them to rejoin the fight, Nessa was about to do the same when Markus addressed her. She turned, her face stony as she listened to his or rather whoever it was that was talking address her. Referring to someone continuously as 'him'. Was this a different being inside of Markus, talking about Markus's feelings towards Nessa. Or was it Markus talking about someone else. It was all very confusing, and a little annoying. She had just about had enough of all the crap today.  Markus or whoever turned and left her to it. She didn't care what Markus was getting at; she had no intention of attacking Markus. Nessa took a moment to breathe, Tiphanae landed down next to her. Touching her shoulder,

"Are you okay Nessa Lux?" She asked softly, Nessa looked at the wind valkyrie shaking her head in bafflement. Agatha landed on her other side, giving Nessa a hard part on the part. "Pretty rough, Maiden, you sure that's the one you wanna be with, I highly doubt Aven Alveron would talk to you like that." She said with a devilish grin, nudging Nessa's side. Nessa shot her a look, "Not now. Agatha." She growled through gritted teeth. Agatha held up her hands, chuckling her shot back up into the air.  Nessa and Tiphanae quickly followed suit; joining the fight once more.

Nessa would fly over to the chaos, looking down at the monsters, she sighed. "Let's get this over with." She muttered she would summon several orbs all around her. She would fire them outwards at any enemies that flew by. Agatha and Tiphanae would disappear into the battle once more, swinging their swords at the targets and carving them up with ease. Nessa would throw herself into the fight, trying to distract herself from what had just happened. Not only was she annoyed at Markus, but she was also annoyed at herself for losing her temper so easily. It shouldn't matter that that night meant nothing to him, they had agreed to be friends. But still, it was kind of messing with her mind. He seemed so pleased to see her when they had first reunited, but now, that seemed to have changed. Maybe it was just a facade, this emotionally void Markus, that was the one she was used to. The one that made sense.

Nessa could hear a monstrous rumble in the distance; she turned trying to locate the sound. It was growing louder, Nessa could see the earth shaking and the trees crushed under its approach. What was making its way towards them was a terrifying behemoth of a monster. "Oh god..." Nessa whispered, eyes widening at the sight of it. If she thought the last beast they had faced in the Garden of Eden was bad, this thing made it look like child's play. Nessa swiftly began redirecting her orbs towards the metal mammoth, slamming them into the beast endlessly.

She brought herself closer, taking a breath, she summoned her magical power from the sky. Raising her palms up to the heavens, she would call out the spell. The skies would begin to rumble. It was in this moment, that Nessa quickly activated Johann's rune bracelet. Combining his holy light into his spell, from the skies giant balls of Starlight meteors infused with holy light would rain down. Crashing into the beast, as well as any nearby monsters. Nessa would continue to summon meteors, doing her best to control the movement of the meteorites and make sure they hit their intended targets. She just hoped that Johann and Markus would be careful to avoid them. Hopefully, they would join her soon, but despite how much stronger she had become, she really didn't think she could defeat this monster alone.

When the Starlight mage and the Chaos mage of Fairy Tail had had their little ... confrontation, Mars couldn't help but grin broadly. These humans really were something else. It hadn't been the first time, and it wouldn't be the last time either. That one word spoken in good fun could get them so agitated, it amused him greatly. He himself knew best out of them all that wars had been started and thousands had died for just that ... words. But he wouldn't doubt father's wisdom. The little creations had been made like this, after all, and he wouldn't question it. Still, he couldn't help but wonder what the cause for these strange feelings they felt occasionally was. He had observed it with his own vessel, and to an extent, he could feel them too, understand the emotions as they changed him, but ... it was foreign. He had a hard time understanding the girl, and an even harder time following her and Aporia's talk of some night, but ... it barely mattered in the end. Perhaps Aporia's vessel and the girl knew each other? It was of no importance in the end, negligible for the mission. Whether Nessa Cordelia Lux was angered or not, it was no relevant factor, the Lord of War thus simply and safely ignoring this circumstance.

What did however significantly impact the outcome of this battle was Aporia's sudden approach and the faint touch he felt at his shoulder. For a few moments, Mars was confused, though the prospect of interaction with one of his long lost siblings excited him, the thought that there were others exactly like him out there granting the Seal, influenced by these strange human emotions, a sense of comfort, after all. Though it seemed like it was not simply comfort his sister could give alone, the power surging through his entire body, flooding through his veins and bursting into his mind with nothing but a heartbeat. The sudden, violent increase in raw, unrefined strength hit him like a truck, the pure might he had obtained from his sibling intoxicating, to say the least. With this, there would be no issue, and he had no doubt in mind he could eradicate whatever would dare stand in his way with ease while ensuring the survival of the girl and his sister's vessel. "I will do so with the utmost of pleasure", the vicious, gleefully anticipating smile dominating his expression when he had replied to Aporia before taking off for the fight, leaving the other two behind to fight theirs.

When Mars had ended up fighting the two robotic centipedes and destroyed one of the two, Johann couldn't help but wince audibly inside the Seal's thoughts. The Vice President of the West Fiore Trading Company would never be able to finish a single mission without destroying another uniform. This was his own curse, or so it seemed, Mars paying little mind to his vessel's attire as he grinned, letting go of the dark scythe in his hands with the weapon dissolving into thin air as he did. He would claim the pleasure of ending this one with his own two hands as he felt Aporia's power push him to new, never before reached limits. With this ... with this he could ... no, the time was not yet right. The Lord of War could not open the Second Seal without good reason, even if his curiosity was pushing him towards this strongest of curses, even if he could barely hold back his excitement with this power. His eyes once more flaring up with bright red, this foe, too, would fall before the rage of the Lord.

While the need to open the Second Seal would come soon, this, for Mars, would be an excellent opportunity to thoroughly test the magic he himself and his vessel had obtained together no longer than a rather short while ago, the might that enabled Johann and Mars to fell even the legendary Titans of old only amplified by the roaring strength of the Sixth Seal. Mars had dabbled in this art briefly before, but now was the time to focus it, wield it. In an instant, Mars had dropped to the ground, slamming his fist into the dirt as a pulse of dark energy exploded from his positions, chains of interwoven light and darkness bursting from it near the mechanic centipede, the beast shrieking in pain as the chains immediately wrapped around it, crushing its body and holding it in place. "So far, so good", Mars whispered before immediately bursting forward at the monstrous creature, appearing before it, ready to strike anew when the beast unleashed a blast of pure shadow energy around itself. Just what he needed. Mars inhaled deeply, breathing in the spell's energy, its very essence, absorbing it, the shadow magic vanishing as it was consumed by the Second Seal. Slayer magic did have its perks, he had to admit. Immediately, focussed the magic energy he had absorbed before unleashing a deafening roar, shadows wrapping around light bursting from his mouth and slamming into the monster with a low pitched screech, its form torn asunder under the pressure of the mixed light and darkness projected by the roar of a primordial god.

Satisfied with himself and the strength of their new magic Mars grinned, letting his gaze swerve around. It appeared like almost all enemies had been dealt with, destroyed by the mages' combined powers, about to hand back control to his vessel when he felt the periodic quaking of the ground, and saw the trees part, the massive form of a monstrous metal beast emerging from them, somewhat akin to a massive, ape-like monster in shape, it's form bristling with weaponry of all kinds. The robotic beast unleashed a massive, mechanical roar that echoed across the battlefield, the corners of Mars lips curling up into a vicious grin once more, his cold, glaring eyes on centered on the foe. The flame of hate Mars held inside his heart was at once rekindled violently at the sight of another one of these massive, unholy mecha abominations. "It is time", Mars spoke, his eyes once more flaring up with energy, a massive, gargantuan magic circle appearing beneath his feet, spinning in various colours and layers as it twisted, erratically and constantly shrinking down before finally, with the sound of a heavy bell, reaching the Seals form, a shockwave of force rocking his surroundings with unbearable magical force.

Within the fraction of a second, his entire form was engulfed by pure nothing, ink-black darkness running down his body before vanishing, revealing a new, demonic form, Mars fully taking over his vessel and making Johann's body his own as the Second Seal was opened, the two truly becoming one and the same. The expression on his face was crazed, the raging hate he felt, the desire for vengeance and retribution apparent. While the other two had already started fighting, Mars took his time to adjust to this new form before snapping his fingers, all of the Lord of War's allies hearing his voice, the overlaid voices of Mars and Johann, ringing out in their minds.

"If you are attached to your life, I suggest moving far, far away ... now"

With that, the Second Seal raised his hand, an immense buildup of magical force accumulated within before firing it off at the target, the ground below the stream of force disintegrating as it travelled through the air. On impact, this beam of pure energy would explode into a gargantuan burst of deeply onyx flame, ripping apart and burning away everything around the near area, leaving the woods burned black and grassland desolate, the monstrosity leaving behind nothing but a charred, flaming husk of its former self. The Second Seal grinned.

So this was the true power of War ... the true, unlocked power of one of the Seven Seals.

Markus groaned internally as he watched Aporia speak with his voice. It was a strange feeling, watching ones self and being unable to control your own body. He was unsure how he was going to fix this. Nessa was fuming, and to be fair… it was his fault. Aporia had spoken the truth, out of place of course, but she knew about the night. In fact, she was until know the only person to know about such things. At least, as far as Markus was concerned.

There was so much he wanted to say to her, so much he knew he would never voice. In the end, he had to sigh… she was right. It didn’t matter. Not if they wished to keep things professional. He was forced to watch as Aporia turned away, asking the Starlight Maiden to attack his body. He would not blame her if she did.
    _____

Aporia smiled as she dealt with another wave of creatures. The power of chaos coursing through her. She moved his body with expert and grace of his own, as if she were in her own body. She watched him, from time to time, when her whim willed it. Markus was powerful, weak in his own way, but in the end she truly believed him to be a good vessel for her power, and a good choice of Chaos’. Despite disagreeing with his motives, in the end chaos was about whim, and will. She did not fault him.

Taking a breath she watched as a house sized monstrosity crashed through the forest. With a grin she waited… and waited. Looking up she saw the first of the starlight meteors fall, missing her entirely. With a deep sigh she glared at the Starlight Maiden. She was not sure if it was weakness, or strength, but in the end it did not help her case… Taking a deep breath she flew into the air, and glided hovering directly under the next orb she saw. Taking a deep breath, she watched as it came towards her. The magic was certainly impressive, deadly, devastating. With a glower she waited until it entered her range. Holding up her hand she forced the very fabric of reality to change.

As the meteor came into range, it shifted, changed, warped. No longer was it made of light, no longer was it pure. It corrupted in a strange way, turning black, deep, and dark. The light became darkness, the purity becoming chaos. With a smile she forced his mouth to open, and inhaled the attack. Forcing it into her body, reviving her power. Taking a deep breath, she closed her eyes as suddenly, his body pulsed with magic, before exploding in chaos.
    ___

Darkness streamed off his body in waves pure power coerced through his veins like he had never felt before, the chaos mage was overloaded with magical power. Whatever Aporia had done had unlocked something within the Chaos Slayer, some sort of force, a power…

Arcing from his body sparks of pure chaos discharged almost like lightning, randomly and without warning one would appear. On his face, his shoulder, his back, as if whatever power he was using was reacting to the very air of Earthland and responding negatively. The white in his hair had turned pure black, and his eyes while still ‘glowing’ held no light. The tattoos that once crossed his arm and shoulder had grown and gotten darker. Now covering his entire body in an intricate design. Where the tattoos marked his skin no light reflected, and in fact all light was devoured by the magic, leaving a strange effect, a darkness so pure it seemed ethereal. Finally, shadows themselves streamed off the mages body almost like flames. Moving with a power and sentience of their own purely moving in some chaotic wind.

His eyes alight with chaos, Markus watched again as Aporia moved his body. With no effort she would annihilate whatever drone of creatures appeared in front of her. He could tell, suddenly it was as if his power was connected with the void itself. His body controlled magic, and cast spells without using his own reserves, as if the magic itself wanted to be released, as if his control of chaos had ascended to that of the being who had gifted him with magic. Taking a deep breath ‘she’ launched a beam of chaos at another centipede, and watched apathetically as it fell.

‘This my vessel is the true culmination of what it means to be Chaos’ Progeny. The Primordial Chaos Force, an ancient magic known only to Slayers. Remember well this feeling, and how to control it. Just know, once activated the battle is suddenly on a clock, and your time is limited. The Void takes a heavy tole on those that attempt to control it.’
The voice spoke in his mind, addressing him in the same way she had at Mimirs Well, teaching him, advising him, showing him her secrets. The Chaos mage was still unsure what their connection was, what she had to do with the Primordial, but for the first time since learning she was a part of him, he accepted it, felt peace…

That was until his senses fired off like they never had before, danger. Pure, horrifying danger, and pure magic. Markus could sense the power, Mars controlled. Pure, unadulterated. Then, he heard the man speak. Aporia only smile, she seemed to not care, she was enjoy herself, and could use Chaos as an escape.

There was however only one thing on the Chaos Mages mind, as he looked over and saw her fighting. Even with all her anger, she had not followed Aporias request. She had not attacked him, and forced Aporia to take things into her own hands. Using her impressive display of magic, and forcing it to work with her, forcing its nature to change so that the chaos mage could devour the magic. Aporia could care less about her, surely a Wizard Saint could take care of herself. The chaos mage however was unwilling to risk it.

Suddenly, with as much force as he could muster, Markus took back control of his body. While his hair remained streaked with black, and the darkness still remained on his body. However, his eyes were no longer hers, they no longer glowed. They had returned back to his own.

Forcing chaos to his feet and hands he burst forward with a sudden surge of speed, and strikes at a creature right next to the Starlight Maiden. Reaching down he placed his arms under her, one at her back and one her legs picking her up. When he spoke his voice was purely his own, whatever female had been laced within previously would no longer be heard, “We have got to go.” As he held her, he would feel cold. There was no warmth coming from his body, but the arcing chaos and streaming shadows would be harmless to her, feeling more like static than anything else.

He knew his senses were massively boosted, and his connection with the Void warned him, this attack was not of this world, and it was certainly the most powerful thing the chaos mage had felt, besides Chaos herself. Running forward at his top speed he glanced down at the woman in his arms. His boosted slayer strength and speed making the effort nonexistent. He could feel however, it would not be enough.  Even with everything he had , and boosted by his spell, he could only go about 400 meters. Then, he felt it Mars’ attack.

Setting the Starlight Maiden down, he spun on his heels. “Hela!”, he cried out. His shadow instantly changed, warped, grew. His wolf forced itself back into the world, and instantly opened its jaw. At the same time Markus raised his hand, fingers outstretched, palm facing the oncoming blast. He was unmoving, unbreathing, concentrating. Hela planted her feet. Suddenly the shadows in the area started to move, spin, warp. Hela concentrating using Markus as a focal point she cast his spell, taking his lifeforce she caused the shadows to form into a fast moving highly intensive barrier.

Markus watched as the attack hits, cascading over the barrier. His arm still facing forward he watched as all at once, the shadows vanish the shield destroyed. His wings outstretched, his vestments blowing behind the force of the attack Markus instantly activated the Primordial Aegis. All at once flowering in all directions a shield of pure chaos appeared, forcing his power into the magic he felt it breaking, and watched as webs of shattered power spread across the shield. He knew it would not be enough.

He had only one option left. He would have to devour the rest of the spell, just as Aporia did… ‘The effort could kill you, are you sure she is worth it?’ The mage ignored the voice in his head as finally the shield broke.

With a quick breath he opened himself to void, to chaos and inhaled. All at once the attack cascaded over him. His wings were still outstretched, one of his arms facing back over Nessa. One watching would see what looked like the world shattering. The air around him breaking as the fragments of chaos stored in his armor broke, protecting the chaos mage as best they could. As he devoured the attack his body would start to fade, to disappear under the assault. His form would waver, for a brief second fading into chaos as the mages final defenses failed him, his primordial form giving way to force the mage to take on the remaining magic. As the spell forced its way down his throat all behind him would be protected, but he would scream in pain. The spell burned his insides, and shocked his system.

As suddenly as it started, it ended. The area in front of the two mages, and behind them would be annihilated as the magic destroyed the forest, and left nothing but a black husk that used to be the creature.

The darkness on his body faded, the sparks ended, and his wings vanished. His hair would return to its pure red color. ‘Idiot…’ he would hear in his mind, before she faded back into the void leaving him to his own devices.

Markus fell to his knees, and coughed up blood. He would survive, but the attack had taken a heavy toll on his body. He looked at Nessa. "Your wrong, it does matter." He whispered, unsure if she could hear.
