Obviously, his most noticeable "special characteristic" would be the sheer fact that Slaine is a 6'7" tall, 300 pound, humanoid fishman. Shark-like in appearance complete with gills to breathe underwater, and colorful fins that jut out of his forearms. Because of this he has the abilities to walk and breathe on land or water with no complications.

One would assume with his foreboding appearance that Slaine A. Guilt would be a horrible person. But the truth is actually the exact opposite. Slaine is in fact, a generous, gentle soul who sees the world in a optimistic, if somewhat, naive light. He's a goofy fellow who's sunny disposition and enthusiastic attitude manages to lighten even the most gloomy of moods - or so he likes to think.
He's not an idiot, by any stretch of the imagination. While he may give off the presence of a bumbling oaf, he's actually quite intelligent. Being the former son of a noble mage family he is unsurprisingly well-read and still upholds much of the gentlemanly and polite attitude instilled into him in his early life. Not only is he capable of handling high class society politicking. He is also good at manipulation and persuasiveness, tho he utterly loathes having to use such underhanded tactics, and will only reluctantly use such methods if he feels he has no other option.
A hard worker, he believes that your only limit is yourself and that in order to overcome your problems is by pushing yourself past your own preconceived restrictions. "If you believe you can do something, then nothing can stop you from achieving it!" He doesn't believe in 'giving up' even when the situation looks hopeless he pushes himself forward.
This unfortunately caused him to develop a slight 'hero complex', believing that he has to be the Shield to protect others. In which he forces all the burden on himself even when at his breaking point. He can be obscenely reckless when like this and fear and helpliness only further drives his inability to back down.
Despite his bullheaded stubbornness he's quite amicable and open-minded, with the ability to throw out pearls of wisdom due to his own worldly experiences. This has built him patience and understanding in ways that many people lack. And he seems to be extremely good with children and animals because of it.
Even with his goofy, warm-hearted personality even he can be serious when the situation demands it, especially when lives are in danger. His animalistic nature only grows the longer a battle continues and threatens to throw him into a Frenzy the longer time ticks by. In fear of turning into the very monster that he appears to be, he doesn't enjoy fights lasting longer than they should be and will do everything in his power to end conflicts as quickly and efficiently as possible.
This often makes him appear - for lack of better words: "cold-blooded". As he shows a callousness merciless behavior in battle. He fights with a flexible, analytical mindset that almost makes him appear unbalanced when compared to the smiling happy ball of fun that he is usually. When a battle goes beyond his limitations, others under his protection are harmed, or he is overwhelmingly overpowered by a strong enemy his animal instinct kick in early, forcing him into a wild frenzy.
He forgoes thought and reason and instead lets his instincts guide him to victory or defeat. In this state, he's nothing more than a giant lumbering force of raw destruction intent on killing what he deems as "prey". He throws away most of his magic for savage punches and claw slashes, using his body as a walking tank, consumed by the desire to destroy. When he's this far gone it's hard to pull himself back to his humanity and thus he fears one day he will be pushed to the point that "Arthur" no longer exists, and only a monster remains...

☑ Sushi: Most would think because he was a fish himself that he would be against eating any form of seafood. But it's quite the opposite! He loves it more than a normal human being does due to his shark-like nature. Sometimes, if hungry enough he'll devour his meal straight after plucking it out of the water!
☑ Beaches: Seeing as beaches are right next to his favorite location, he tends to favor them more than anything else. If he's tired of swimming in the ocean, lake, or river - he can always relax on a nice sandy beach or sandbar! Also to add to the easy accessibility, he also has a prominent food source! It's a Fish Man's dream home!
☑ Helping Others: If you were to put the boy he used to be next to the man he has become, you'd notice that they're nothing alike. Besides the obvious reasons, the fact is that the current him is a far more caring and kind person than the him of his younger years. Because he was shown one small act of genuine kindness from strangers, he wished to emulate them. In hopes of showing others a similar helpfulness - believing that in doing so will help soothe his own past mistakes and regrets.

☒ Premature Judgement: He hates being looked upon with fear because of his appearance alone. He strongly believes that you should see a person's character before you judge if they're a "good" or "bad" person or not. People who judge solely by their first meeting with someone annoy him a lot.
☒ Birds: He absolutely HATES birds! They always seemed to heckle him and he never understood why! Though he doesn't fear them, he heavily dislikes them due to their obnoxious squeaking at "Too Freaking Early Goddamnit O'clock" and their need to crap on anything they fly over. In short, the only time he'll EVER like a bird is when it's on his dinner table!
