4000 words total (Minimum), 400 words per post.
Job Requirements: Find information about the mysterious portal by stepping through it, defeat the Treegaurd and return.
    Job Location: Spooky Woods
    Job Description:

According to the magic council, a mysterious portal has arrived in the spooky woods. They can sense an incredibly dark and vile magical presence coming through it. If you are a part of a neutral or legal guild, you are instructed to enter and find out where it leads and what is giving off the magical signature. If you are a dark guild member, you are instructed by your guild master to check it out.

When you arrive at the location described, you find the portal sitting in a clearing deep within the Spooky Woods. The portal is rather elegant, its made from two marble column and a simple block of marble resting on the top of them. Black, creeping vines with roses blooming on them creep up each marble column before meeting at the top and forming and eye. The portal itself rests between the two columns, and is circular and dark gray.

When you step through the portal you find... a camp. The portal sits in the middle of the camp, surrounded by a campfire, a few tents, a cluster of chests and a crooking station. All of this sits ontop of a makeshift wooden floor. Almost as soon as your through, you can feel eyes on you. The survivors who are living in this camp exit their tents and look at you.

They aren't hostile, apparently strangers popping out of the portal is a common occurrence. They do explain that you cant stay with them though, they don't have enough recources to even support themselves. They are thin and clearly hungry, on of them doesnt even look sane- shes sitting down and clutching her head like theres something inside trying to get out. One of them explains that they would have enough food to last the winter that is going to arrive soon, but they can't go exploring because of something lurking in the woods just out side of their camp. They call it a 'Treegaurd', a large abomination of dark magic that forces a tree to come to life and protect anyone who harmed the forest (And judging by the wooden flooring and chests in the camp, they have clearly chopped down many trees.) You offer to help, and head into the forest to try and find this 'Treegaurd'.

Restrictions of the job- Magic doesn't work like normal in this world. Magic does not regenerate normally here, and can only be restored by defeating monsters. Weak monsters award 10% MP, Normal monsters award 25% MP, Strong monsters award 50% MP, and Boss monsters restore 100% MP.

    Enemies:

    Weak: Spider x4
These spiders are impossibly large. Most of them stand at around waist tall to an average mage. They deal D rank damage and attack atleast twice every post. They will always target whoever hit them last. They take three D rank hits to defeat.

    Normal: Hounds x5
Large wolves that are the size of men, these hounds are rough and ready to go. Sharp teeth and bloodlust in their eyes, hounds will attack as a pack. If one is attacked, they whole pack targets the attacker. They deal D rank damage per hit and take six D rank hits to defeat.

    Hard: Nightmare Shadows x2
When these appear, you feel like your going insane. Your head throbs and pounds, you feel weak and your vision tints red and gets wavy. They rise from the ground and appear as birds twice your size. They deal C rank damage, and take 4 hits to defeat (Rank of spell doesn't matter, always 4 hits). Everytime they are hit, they teleport behind you.

    Boss: Treegaurd

As you get near it you can hear its large, hulking foot steps. The Treegaurd is twenty feet tall, and is covered in thick bark that serves as armor. Before you can get close enough to the Treegaurd to attack, a woman named Charlie appears before you. She wears a black dress, and has a rose in her braided hair. When she appears you can feel an impossibly strong aura of dark magic. She mentions that its always nice to see someone new in her world, and about her curiosity of how you get here.

When you fight with the Treegaurd, you have the same insanity effect that you do when fighting Nightmare Shadows. Every four posts of fighting with the treegaurd, a Nightmare Shadow will be summoned. It deals B rank damage per hit, and will take 15 C rank hits to kill.

It was early in the morning when Gangting woke up in his stone pavilion. He made a gesture with his hand and a part of the stone moved away, giving him a few of the outside world. The sun crawled up from behind a few hills, far away on the horizon. The suns rays crept into the tent, illuminating it’s inside. Gangting looked through one of the bags for food and found some dried bacon and dried dates.
He flushed away his breakfast with a few gulps of mead from a container that he wears on his belt. There was no need for him to get dressed, he had slept in his bronze armour and under his crimson fur-trimmed cloak. Gangting only had to buckle up his belt, on which his broadsword hung. He grabbed his bags and summoned his enormous chariot, pulled by large aurochs. Gangting threw his bags carelessly on the cart and hopped on. He left his stone pavilion, for a lucky traveller as shelter.
The sun stood now higher in the sky, and Gangting knew by the feeling in his stomach that it was time for lunch. He stopped his chariot and jumped off. He looked through his baggage and found some cheese and bread. He also took a jar filled with wine. He rose his right leg up and stamped it down. An earthen table and a chair grew out of the grassy ground, next to Gangting’s chariot. He placed his lunch on the table and went back to the chariot to release his aurochs, so they could feed on the meadow.
Gangting had eaten his lunch and was now enjoying his wine, enjoying it the sun. It was one of the few times that he truthy sat down to enjoy a beverage, usually, he drank it like water and preferably in a competition with someone else. He started to feel a slight tremor in the ground, there where two horses on the road. The moved towards him, they were still far away.
A few moments had passed, and he could hear the horse’s snorting and the sounds of amazed people. Probably because they saw the huge aurochs. Gangting turned around, towards the riders. Rune Knights, thought he. They carried their white cloaks with green runes. They stopped next to the chariot and one of them dismounted. The knight walked up to Gangting and greeted him.
It was the next day, Gangting road through the forest that bared the name ‘Spooky Woods’. It was a missed placed name thought Gangting, not that it was so lively as most forests. He felt the magical presence of the portal, the Rune Knight had told him about it. He followed his senses.
He ended up in a clearing and in its middle stood the portal. It was as described. Two marble pillars, plants grew around them and in between the two pillars was the portal. A circle of dark grey, it was in a constant flux. Gangting stepped of his chariot and walked to the portal. “Here we go.” He said to himself. He wasn’t hundred percent sure about it, he was told that people had travelled through it but, what if? Gangting shacked the thought away and walked through it.
He stepped on a wooden board, it surprised him. He looked around him, tents, chests and even a cooking station. He looked around, amazed at what he saw. The people he saw didn’t seem to be surprised at all. It took him a moment to think what he would do.

Yona Hisamori had spent time tracking the bearded man. With his bronze armor, his consistent food supply, and his chariot, she believed the mage to be a great target for theft. She had trailed him until he stopped, sleeping in his stone pavilion. Only to find, the man slept in his armor. What kind of idiot slept in their large heavy metal armor? Who could get any sort of good rest out of that? She was angry and frustrated and considered her options. Her best option still was to trail the male from her safe distance. With her sensing abilities, she could stay out of sound and sight and still keep track of the male's movements.

The lime green eyes of the female scanned the area the next morning. She awoke with dawn, having had a rather uneventful night with her target sleeping in half his steal-worthy-wares. Yona watched as he ate, her stomach growling and then she moved off to a safer distance, out of detection. As time past, she considered that he would likely leave his chariot at some point. Everyone needed a pee break and when he left his chariot aside, she smiled, that would be a real gain to her. But she waited, and waited, and the damn man would not leave.

Just as she was deciding on a plan to lure him away from his items, she felt in the ground a tremor. With her hand braced upon the ground, she closed her eyes for concentration. The roots and plants gave her all the information she needed: two horses, heavy, possibly armored or carrying men with armor on, were heading towards her target. She groaned aloud, "Come on!" It was but a whisper, but she clamped her hands over her mouth. The female continued to trail him, taking only a break to eat the last of the food she had taken with her: some stolen bread and an apple. When she went back to seek him out, she found he had vanished. Completely. His entire existence, gone.

She could still feel the chariot ahead and put on a burst of speed. Yona looked around the area, the woods dense and darkened. The chariot was empty and she dashed to it. She stuffed her hands into the chariot, ready for a good haul, when the light of the portal caught her eye. She looked up and her lime green eyes widened in wonder, staring at an enormous portal besides two marble columns. Yona carried the bag she had snatched with her, her hands ready to open it, but her mind too curious to soothe the urge to investigate the bag. The portal came first on priorities, obviously.

Yona stepped towards the portal, reached out a hand and touched it. Nothing happened. She turned her head around, examining the area and then she entered the portal herself, still holding the man's bag. The green haired woman found herself standing on a wooden platform of some sort, surrounded by a camp clearly diseased with poverty and misery. She bit her lip, taking note that the man she had been tracking stood just a couple feet in front of her. Yona quickly hid the bag behind her back, almost like a child might, not sure what was going on or what to do next.

An early morning had come, and Ezra had awoken sprawled across a couch in the Fairy Tail guild hall with a couple of empty glasses scattered across the round table next to him and a women's fashion magazine shielding his face from sharp light that radiated from chandeliers and lamps.

Long, messy, black hair remained the same despite being such a wild sleeper with his appearance only becoming slightly disheveled compared to what he presented himself as last night. Why was this older man dozing in his guild's tavern? Well, despite having an apartment to stay in, he often found himself homing and quartering in the guild hall. It wasn't as if his guildmates minded. In fact, he became more like a familiar object for the observers. An object so familiar that when someone needed his presence or attention, they could direct them to so and so locations to find him. So and so locations also happened to be the bar, the couch, or somewhere dozing in the Oaks that stood about the guild's lawn and field. The free alcohol and space was much appreciated by the senior wizard.

Ezra pinched the spine of his questionable magazine and placed it on the round table, next to his once full glasses. Violet hues squinted in coming in contact with the morning rays of sunshine, the light bouncing off his eyes. In realizing it was the early morning, he raised from his lax position on the couch and onto his feet. "Boy, oh boy. What a night. . ." he yawned, twisting and turning in order to stretch his fit and muscular body.

He wore his usual black tank top with a sweatshirt tied around his waist, leather boots and grey cargo pants. Raising his right's digits to his jaw, he scratched his beard and turned to face the couch again, only to find a crumbled piece of paper facing downward. Instantly, he recalled the details of the paper without having to look at it, put retrieved it anyway.

Ezra unraveled the paper and raised it to view in his right hand, three empty glasses lifted from the table and held tightly between his fingers on his left as he made way into the kitchen, "You have been instructed to arrive at this location by this date. . ." he began, placing the glasses into the empty sink while reading the contents of the paper, "please investigate as soon as possible. Well, glad I woke up. Might've forgotten or missed this job." Ezra mumbled to himself, stuffing the paper into his pocket and dressing himself in the sweatshirt that was coiled around his waist, and made way to the train station that we take him to his location.

He had actually received this request a few days ago, but always seemed to get distracted enough to postpone it. With a bottle of finely aged rice sake and a small map, Ezra had arrived at the Spooky Forest in no more than an hour or two. There, he found the questionable portal he had been instructed to investigate. It was rather easy to discover it, having noticed the abnormal magical signals it was giving off and the fact it stuck out like a sore thumb among all the leafless trees. It letting his fingers glide across the surface of the seemingly harmless portal, Ezra deemed it safe to enter but also discovered it wasn't he alone that was tasked with this investigation. At the entrance of this mysterious gateway was the lingering scent of two others. It was prevalent to this man, having the heightened senses provided to him through his magic and his lineage. One smelled of copper and sweat while the other smelled of leather. They were both very unique, and expected armored men or women when entering. And enter, he did.

Once entering, he was greeted with the supposed wizards accompanying him on this task, who looked speechless and shocked and a group of stranded men and women who looked equally confused. There in this camp was typical camp things: tents, cooking facilities, a campfire, other things. But this always brought up many questions. Where were they? Why were they here? Who were they? Are they in danger? Ezra couldn't make up his mind which to ask first, but made a quick decision to break the ice between his alleged group and the campers.

"Hello folks. Cats got everyone's tongue, yeah? Ezra Aurence here to serve in whatever needs serving." Ezra introduced himself, rubbing the nape of his neck with a smile cracking his lips.

Gangting looked behind him after he heard a voice, he saw a stout black haired man and a small woman with long green hair. "Well met Erza," Said Gangting and straightened his back, "my name is Gangting of Duoshang. I'm here on request of the Rune Knights." He looked back from the two people, who seemed to be mages and back at the people in the odd camp. Most of the people looked frail and skinny, Seems they have not a lot to eat. "Is there any way I or we can help out here?" Said Gangting.

An old man crawled out of a tent and brushed off his knee's after he stood up. The man wore brown and green clothing that looked more like rags and his hair was unattended; long grey hair and a beard. "You all should go, we have not enough to sustain our selves. Our food and wood will soon run out." Said the old grey man. "There is a forest around you!" Said Gangting loud with unbelief, "wood and food aplenty!" "Ai, there is yes. But Treeguard watches over it," Said the man, his voice cracked a bit when he called out the name Treeguard, "He kills any who dears to lift an axe in the forest or a bow. There is no way we can get resources!"
Gangting looked puzzled and looked around, then he noticed something. Dark magic. He looked to the other mages, "we can go and kill Treeguard."
He looked the green haired mage and noticed one of his bags behind her. "How did you knew that we needed the bag!" He called out, he took the bag from her and opened it up. Gangting took out some bread and sausages, "Here, food for the hungry" He gave the food to a few people closest to him and gave the bag to the old man. "Divided it among you're people."

He then walked to a chest where is an axe leaning on, "Axes draw it out? I'll borrow this!" Shouted Gangting out, thinking happily about the fight ahead. He walked off the wooden floor and went into the forest. "Are you two coming along?" He called out to the two mages. He didn't look back and went further into the forest, far away from the camp until he spotted a clearing. Within the clearing was a stack of heavy stones, a religious site for an ancient people mayhaps. There he started chopping at a tall birch tree.

Hunt of The Wilds: Treegaurd! [Yona, Ezra Aurence, Berggeit] Empty Re: Hunt of The Wilds: Treegaurd! [Yona, Ezra Aurence, Berggeit]

Post by Zincarla 12th January 2018, 7:50 pm

Yona found it easy to step back slowly when the dark haired man appeared before her. Both of the men seemed to tower over her and even though she knew her bright green hair and eyes would stand out, she had no problem using them as a human shield to try to hide herself. She preferred being in the background, blending in, where it was easier to steal and get away with it. And in this camp, the last thing she expected when going through the portal was to find a forest, a camp of starving wide eyed losers complaining about some magical Tree problem, and two mountainous men ready and eager to help them. She had apparently walked into some sort of job by mistake and wasn't sure she ought to stick around and risk her neck to help out. She had no information, no training, and no relation to the two men who were sent to deal with the situation. Yona Hisamori was not sent by the Rune Knights or given mystical declarative orders like the two men before her. She could just leave.

The battle hardened man looked like he had grit, his long dark hair exuding a level of experience she thought her hair was even more starkly a symbol against. As experienced as he looked and as dark and strong as this Ezra appeared to be, Yona appeared even more so green in color and green in tactical experience by comparison. She stood behind him, feigning meekness and subservience. Usually "servant" types were ignored and Yona assumed she could slip right out of whatever she walked into. She observed the exchange between Ezra, Gangting and the petty campers and made a face. If the problem with the Tree-thing was so bad, why wouldn't they just leave? They had a portal literally in the middle of their camp. It seemed truly stupid to her that they would choose to stay, but she kept quiet, rolling her eyes as she worked to blend in like scenery. Still, Yona could sense the magic of the men and the magic in the wood. Perhaps it was not complete nonsense, their fear.

Gangting suddenly drew attention to her, clearly unwanted by the way she shrunk away from his grabbing hands, and took the bag she had been holding behind her. He tugged it from her easily, what was the little thief supposed to do anyway? Could she have fought him for the single random bag? He opened it up, without accusation or judgment, and began passing out food. She stared at him, a bit in shock. And when he started into the darkened wood, asking Ezra and herself to join up with him, Yona's eyes grew even wider. She was being pulled in? Asked to help? It was odd, the feeling of being wanted. But what was even stranger was that Gangting would have to be a serious dullard to not have realized that Yona had the bag in her hands because she had tried to steal it. A man sent by Rune Knights ought to have arrested her or at least beaten her for the crime, and instead it seemed that the male adorned in the fur-trimmed cloak and bronze armor had intended for her to join him.

She hesitated and then gave him a nod. The chance at being part of something, and that rare feeling of being wanted, drove her against her natural good sense to just turn around and leave. Once in the forest, walking beside him, on his right side, the woman spoke aloud. "I am Yona," She said, "And I'm not sure what I am doing out here, to be frank." It made the most sense for the perpetually jobless actress to tell the truth. As beautiful as she was, Yona's abilities weren't crazy top-notch. She could care for herself in the streets, but a job like this was out of her norm. Yona was lucky it took place in the forest and the problem seemed to be Tree related. She knew her plants after all. When they found the clearing, she paused to look over the cairn, running her fingers over the rocks with pursed lips. "How unusual.. for a ritual maybe? Usually these are brought to a place after a long journey, or to mark a trail head of some sort."

Yona was partially talking to herself but her head shot up at the sound of Gangting hacking at a nearby Birch. The tree made a hollow hard knock of a sound- it was old and good. She frowned. "If you need firewood there is plenty around, you don't have to just go around chopping at trees, idiot. Did you know birches produce natural astringents? Its far more useful to you alive." The former garden-worker couldn't help if her tendency was to be a voice for the plants in nature. Too many people were ignorant of the great use living plants had.

It was easy to understand the situation even without the explanation given by the stranded men and women. Though, they all seemed to be foolish to remain so idle while understanding that pursuing the resources in the nearby forest is asking for death. In fact, they'd be better off travelling elsewhere if gathering food and wood from the forest was too much of a lost cause. It was a pity to observe, but watching the crimson haired brute distribute his food so willingly left Ezra's chest feeling warm and soft. It was always a good feeling to give.

But as quick as the man was to give away the bread and sausages, he was just as quick, if not quicker to leave for the mysterious Treeguard with a trusty ax in hand a sense of bravery and courage in the other. Gangting would march into the dark and gloomy woods, beckoning his allies behind him. Ezra smiled, rubbing the nape of his neck wearily, "Well, 'watchin these good folks eat like that's making me hungry. I'd ought to come help ya'll, anyway." he chuckled, trailing behind the brute and briefly grabbing the hilt of an ax from the same spot Gangting would retrieve one from, "I'll be 'borrowin this, too. Be back soon, ya'll."

The trio would amble aimlessly into the woods. Tall, strong trees seeming to leer over them in the darkness. The groves of leaves would collect from tree to tree and block the moonlight, only letting slivers of it inside through the cracks and openings of the green wall. The strange haired woman would introduce herself as Yona as they strolled, Gangting impulsively beginning to hack away at a tree once they would arrive at an open clearing. Stones stacked on one another, markings etched in them. A ritual? A religious site, perhaps? It was all so very intriguing. Yona was quick to inspect the strange stones, Ezra only staying at the foot of the group with a grin stretching from ear to ear, "Well, Yona, if it's an ax and bow that anger the Treeguard, we'd ought to draw it out by using it, aye? Gangting's got the right idea, I reckon. A lazy idea, but the right one." he cackled, turning to find a tree of his own. With an ax in hand, Ezra would wield it and hack away at a thin, tall tree, "I'd chop down a hundred trees when I was just a squirt. Feels like home, aye!"
