Haley was used to the outdoors, having lived in the woods of Seven for most of her life before coming into Fiore with a new agenda in life. So when she saw a job that needed a helping hand at a farm, the bartender thought it would be a wise choice to do some actual back breaking work in the beating sun for a change of pace from the cold comfy confined of the bar counter.

The farm itself proved to be in the outskirts, and luckily for her the farmer picked her up in his tractor as he made his daily rounds in town to distribute his goods. The girl hitched a ride or she would have to endure being late. The girl is aware of the tough day ahead of her, and fortunate for her it does not seem as intimidating as before.

The farm was mediocre, a typical country barn with fields far as the sun of the horizon as the truck approaches in the early dawn. Haley gets off the tractor as the farmer guided her through her duties for the day.

Firstly he told her of the seeds, how they are carefully cultivated and farmed to ensure the finest crops were grown during season, allow them to be durable in tough weather and pests and finally be the cream of the crop in produce. The mage is then brought to the barn, where the tools were need to help plant the seeds for the season, carefully maintained to ensure the last batch was the finest available for the crops. Her job was to help plant the seeds for his retirement. As for why, age catches on and his children are unwilling to continue the farm. All the land was to be converted to a market for other farmer produce so they do not have to take over the streets.

Haley could see the sad look in his eyes, as much as he wants to put on a brave face in front of her as he left her to her duties. Haley saw what was years of work, years of support and years of sacrifice. But it was her duty as the hired mage to finish the job for the man. Haley heaves the tools up and gets to the farm. The work is best done while the morning was still young.

According to the farmer, the process begins by scarify the soil with a tractor. But as of the moment, the tractor has lost its lacrima engine due to some troublemakers so Haley had to do it manually. However the girl was smart, she asked the farmer whether she had a horse plow. Confused, she was handed the item. So there in the field, Haley as a horse,
dragged a hefty heavy plow across the acres. Her hooves treaded the dirt with ease and dragged the soil with ease. Soon by the 9, the fields are scarified.

The next cross is underway now. Getting the seeds sown into the ground. It would be good to work by hand but time is against her. What animal could easily help her plant the seeds quickly and effectively. The mage pondered, a mole could be a viable choice, but she might mess up the fields. Her eyes then laid on a flock of crows sitting on a scarecrow. Eureka.

"Hey boys, do me a favor will ya?" Haley called out to the flock with a cocky smile. The crows gave her empty stares, expecting something as all their heads swiveled to her direction. Haley's stare turned into a glare as her eyes glowed. "Well?" The mage folded her arms. The crows nodded immediately. Haley had them flock the fields and plant the seeds for her along the lines, while she herself buries the seeds. Soon her air force of seed planting is over and the farmer chases them off thinking they are trying to disrupt her work.

Now came the watering of the plants. Haley needed to think of an effective way to water the plants. The usual way, which was to use the sprinklers, were jammed due to mud clogging up the pipes, so they were out of service. No animal she knew can possibly help with the water and the crows are unavailable due to being chased off. Rubbing her chin,
she sees the time is now noon and heads back to the barn to refresh herself.

The girl opens the door to see the farmer with two plates and put them on a stack of hay bales like a makeshift table. He then invites her to seat for lunch. Few words were exchange during the meal, the farmer then tells her to be careful as he hears that heavy rain is coming and might make the fields muddy and difficult to traverse. Eureka. After their meal Haley got to work. Gathering as many poles as she could, she sticks them around the fields and drapes lines of string over the them. Eventually she makes a spread just as the rain hits. Water fell and get caught in the string, gently dripping to the ground and moistens the soil. With that, she heads back to dry up.

Haley finds herself done with her job, seeing how the plants need time to grow. The farmer thanked her and sent her on her way with the reward money. One final time she looks back at the farm. Maybe she should come back more often.
