Description:
Among other fires, those of orange hues and burning senses of warmth, the common element throughout the world and wielded by many elementally-inclined magi, Wightfyre sticks out like a sore thumb. Born from the death and subsequent "ascension" to undeath, the user, Lisuka, found her once regular fire warped as her being had been. Now, instead of igniting to release everyday flames, Wightfyre, a corrupted ilk of fire that manifests as devouring and purple flames, strikes forth. Wightfyre, able to be freely evoked and wielded by its caster, appears as flames afflicted with, not only a drastic shift in color, but also a tendency to inflict lingering effects in the form of burns and spreading like usual, though burns manifesting as patches of an eldritch taint, more suited to draining the lifeforce of the victim. Victims struck with Lisuka's corrupted flames, particularly the living, find their lifeforce gradually drained as the taint spreads across their flesh, any stolen lifeforce being returned to the wight wielding the dark fire. Lastly, Wightfyre is only capable of being wielded by beings and creatures such as Lisuka, such as liches and other magically-inclined undead.
Though Wightfyre hosts bizarre effects, it draws similarity to common fire magic in regards to usage. Wightfyre is generally versatile by default, but rather attunes to the user's preferences and strategy. As such, Lisuka's brand of Wightfyre (though the only known brand), is utilized most often at range, neglecting the ability to use it for melee or closer-range combat. Lisuka is fond of spraying her fiery wrath in spells suited to open areas and many targets, though unafraid of doing so carelessly, as her body is immune to her own spells or the taint that might follow from them.
Strengths:
- As an undead being trained with the element of fire, and especially her own corruption of it, fire-based magic and their status effects deal 25% less damage against her.
- Wightfyre, as it deviates from typical fire, isn't as susceptible to water extinguishing it, though it definitely can be with enough effort or attempts.
- Wightfyre spreads particularly quicker than normal fire as it doesn't require oxygen.
- Due to the fast and relentless nature of the element of fire, Wightfyre shares this attribute, allowing for spells to be cast and reach their target quicker.
Weaknesses:
- While water might struggle to snuff it, holy magic is capable of it, holy magic is to Wightfyre as water is to fire.
- Fire Slayers are freely capable of consuming Wightfyre.
- Wightfyre is generally hard to control and requires a keen focus when in use, without it, a spell could go haywire, thus making it generally more difficult to hone as a magic.
- Allies can be affected by Wightfyre and could be more likely to given the nature of the magic.
- Undead entities, as they generally don't boast any remaining lifeforce, are immune to the effects the Wightfyre's taint may provide.
