Girlfriend For A Day [Job/Solo]

Shea hums to herself curiously as she arrives at Mongolia Station. She had accepted a job that seemed rather fun, to pretend to be a boy’s girlfriend. Without any modesty whatsoever Shea knows herself as a rather beautiful specimen of a woman and will only have troubles with this job based on her ‘boyfriends’ appearance.

“Um, uh, are you Shea?” An overly surprised sound voice asks the woman as she waits at the spot they were supposed to meet up. Then frown a bit as she inspects the man before her. He wears baggy sweats, has messy hair and overly large glasses. This will be difficult.

“Yup, that’s me.” The woman replies cheerfully yet smoothly, ignoring how the younger man practically gaps at her. Shea puts a finger to her lips in thought as she attempts to figure out a way to fix the situation. Then an idea occurs to her.

“Um, I’m Dan. So, ah, about the job- wah!” Newly introduced Dan yells out as the mage suddenly pulls on his arm, leading him out of the train station. “What are you doing? Where are we going?!” He yells at the rather forward mage.

“I’m pulling on your arm and we're going to get you a new look.” The woman replies cheerfully.

“Why?!” Dan yells out again impatiently as they finally stop, Shea looking around the courtyard filled with shops curiously. She didn’t even know where to start.

“Because with a look like that your parents will never believe you’re dating me.” The beautiful mage replies bluntly, glancing at Dan who goes red in the face, unable to reply. “Hmmm, how about a new outfit first? That way we can style your hair after what we get. You’re paying for everything, by the way.” She tells the slobbish man in an easygoing manner as she grabs his arm again, and ignoring his protests, drags him to a rather ritzy store nearby.

It takes a while but finally they walk out of the store, laden with bags but with Dan’ wallet feeling all the lighter for it. While he tried on clothes Shea did her best to coach him in the arts of fashion in case he decided to change his slobbish ways. So for the younger man does not seem impressed with her changes onto himself.

“No. No, no, no, no, no, no, no.” The man demands of Shea as they walk toward the barbers shop, but is dragged in nonetheless. The barber looks in confusion at a woman entering his shop, then gasps in horror as Shea shakes her head and waves towards Dan. The man has his work cut out for him.

She got Dan to dress into his nicest outfit for the barber to base his new haircut off of, grabbed the protesting man’s ugly glasses and wallet, then with a smooth wave walked out of the shop promising to be back by the time the cut was done.

Trusting the barber to do a good job, he seemed like the fashionable type, Shea walks toward another store she saw earlier. This was a magical glasses shop and there Shea gave the lady behind the counter the ugly glasses and asked for new ones of the same prescription. The saleslady gladly agreed and helped Shea pick out new frames. The new glasses were finished within minutes thanks to magic and pleased with her choice Shea paid for the glasses using Dan’s money and headed back to the barbers.

The barber had done a fabulous job. They all starred at the mirror, Dan in shock, Shea and the barber pleased. Dan’s hair was now tidy and clean looking, the man even trimmed his eyebrows. That along with his new outfit and his stylish glasses made the young man almost resemble an entirely different person than the slob from before.

“There! Now you look more boyfriend material.” Shea tells the shocked boy cheerfully, clapping her hands together. Still not in her league, but definitely better than before. Dan blushes at the smile Shea sends him and after paying the barber they head off to his parents place.

On the way Shea grills Dan for as much information as she can. By the time they get to his folks place Shea knows to call them Mr. and Ms. Gellet, knows Dan’s age, birthday, favorite things, hobbies, job, and worked out a story about how they met and why Dan looks so much better.

As they approached the doorway Shea wrapped her arm around Dan’s arm and pulled it close to her chest. It was a tad awkward because even without her heels Shea is a few inches. Also, Dan almost tumbles over when she does this, knocking his head on the door.

At her greeting the family had broken out of their shock, and after introducing themselves they ushered the two inside of their quaint house after confirming that the man in front on them was, in fact, their son. Shea could see they were still processing the changes and could not yet tell if they believed their ruse or not.

She made sure to sit down close to Dan. “Act natural.” Shea whispers into the boys’ ear because when she did that he stiffened up. The whispering didn’t help at all since it just made Dan go bright red. Ms. Gellet saw this and just giggled, probably thinking they were flirting.

“Welcome home sweetie!” A voice yells out, obviously expecting them, and a kind looking woman smiles at them. “Son, come on in-!” A man who looks like Dan says at the same time, cutting off his greeting as the smiles fall off both their faces to be replaced with gawking and confused looks at why there was a beautiful exotic woman and a mildly good looking young man at their door when they were expecting their slobby son and his questionable girlfriend.

After almost a minute of no one saying anything, Shea steps forward with a smile and a hand out to shake. “Hi, I’m Shea Duskhelm, Dan’s girlfriend. It’s nice to finally meet you.” She greets them smoothly.

Well at least that scored one for convincing the parents that they were indeed dating. The motherly woman put down a tray of what appeared to be homemade cookies while the father gave them all glasses of juice. The family goes on into pleasantries, mostly filled with how much they liked Dan’s new style and how beautiful his new girlfriend is. They questioned Shea’s background a bit and the woman replied as honestly as she could. They were wowed by being in the presence of a half-elf, mage, and former semi-famous opera singer.

“So how did you two meet?” Mr. Gellet asks them both pleasantly and Shea could see the shock has worn off, causing doubt to come into their eyes.

Now it was their turn to shine. Together, well, mostly Shea, told the tale of how Dan had met Shea as the book publishing place he works at looking to publish a few songs she has written for children nursery rhymes. At this point the parents ask for a demonstration and Shea gladly gives them one, singing a nursery rhyme she heard as a child from her aunt.

The family clapped at her song and they continued their story. Dan fell for her at first sight and changed his looks to gain her notice and affections. By the smiles on the parents faces Shea’s guess that the dramatic change would be enough convincingly win her over was correct.

They all had a very good evening, supper was homely, the family was pleasant, and while they believed that Shea was Dan’s girlfriend they didn’t seem to approve of her by the end of the night. This was planned by Shea because in about 3 week she and Dan would ‘break up’. Either way her job was done.

Dan walked her back to the train station and paid her the jewels that was promised. Then, to her mild surprise, he actually asked her out. She, being the whimsical woman she was, agreed though Dan said he’d only wear the nice clothes around her, since he actually liked his old ones.

Poor boy didn’t last a few days as Shea’s real boyfriend.
