After assisting with the local blood drive held within the town of Rose Garden, Samira made her way to the passport registration office. A patient at the hospital had informed her about the free passports being issued and that it would be a good idea to get one as soon as possible. Unfortunately, since the blood drive had taken up the entire morning there was now a long line of people waiting to get a passport of their own. It would take some time before her turn was reached. Well she was a mage. Perhaps she would be allowed to skip ahead or maybe there was a line solely for guild mages.
Samira calmly waltzed up to the front of the line, ignoring all of the rude glares and shouts. She was a patient sort of person but that did not mean she was willing to wait until her turn to ask if there was a line only for mages. That would just be ridiculous. The lady behind the desk stared wide eyed as the green haired woman slid between the next person and the desk with no care whatsoever. “Uh…yes? Can I help you?”
Samira nodded. “Yes, you can answer a question. Is there not a line exclusive for mages?” Truthfully the woman did not see the reasoning in having to wait in the same line as normal people. Mages were busy people, some even heroes. How laughable it would be if the world came to an end because the one that could protect it was too busy waiting in line.
“Pai…tence.” A deep rough voice entered her mind. It was a voice that belonged to one of the spirits she could summon. Her unique bond with them allowed communication between their planes of existence so long as the keys were on her person. Advice was something they commonly gave her, this time Geb the Earth spirit demanding she be more patient. Strange, she thought she was already quite patient with the situation. Perhaps he merely meant she should not take short cuts. It was hard to tell when he was a spirit that ever used a single word sentences.
“Uh, no. I am afraid we do not have a line only for mages. Can you please go to the back of the line? The people behind you are starting to scare me.” The desk clerk smiled awkwardly as she tried to hide herself behind her clipboard from the glares of those in line.
Samira turned around to face the glares of the others, but they did not phase her. She would still submit to the request made of her, however. She turned towards the clerk once more and bowed her head apologetically. “Of course. I am sorry for this delay.” With that said she made her way to the back of the line and waited until she was the person next in line. Well next wasn’t the correct term since she was literally the last one in the line. The place was even about to close for the day. The passport became hers though, having only to answer a few questions and take a picture. Finally her day would come to an end. Tomorrow was another day and who knows what that would bring.
