The building nearly shook with applause as a few members even rose to their feet. Honestly, Eve was shocked by the amount of positive feedback she received, with a few whoops and hollers from the listeners as well as some shouts of approval. There were several hecklers though, the most annoying of which happened to be the assistant to the club proprietor, who seemed inclined to think that the violet haired girl had done an extremely poor job.
"I'm not even a stand-up comedian," she said with a bit of confusion at his aggressiveness, and he immediately pounced on her words. "Yes! Exactly, you're not even a stand-up comedian. Which is why we shouldn't need to pay you the original gig's fee of nearly fifty thousand jewels. Throwing professionalism out the window, that act wasn't even that of an amateur!"
"Even if I truly believe amateur can simply refer to a hobbyist, I sustain the viewpoint that paying me fifty thousand jewels is not necessary. Please, sir, give what you believe fitting," she said, directing the last portion of her words to the actual club owner and manager. He seemed troubled, and after a quick and private consultation with his assistant manager he flashed Eve a pained grimace before thanking her. His voice was heartfelt, and for that she actually did feel fulfilled. It was never the intention, but it was at least some kind of reward. Then, the young assistant smirked and handed her a single five hundred jewel bill. "Go buy yourself something nice," his voice drifted back as he strutted away, "Like a glass of sparkling water at the bar. Or maybe a vending machine soda. Novices, fakers, substitutes... amateurs are not my concern."
