- Job Title: Where is the Love?
Rank: S
Player Requirements: S-Ranked Wizard(s) or Two A-Ranked Wizards. A-Ranked Wizards and above, ONLY.
Job Requirements: Thread Must Be 40 Posts. 350 Words per Post. Must Roll the Monster Dice at Least Four times.
Job Location: Earthland (Bellum), Crystal Town
Job Description: In Bellum, Magic is everything. If you're not born with it, you're treated like a second class citizen; probably a Waiter at the top of your career. The same is very much true for our client, who has recently lost his friend in a bad case of bullying. Several young Magi (wizards in Bellum); harassed his friend with Magic too the point where they accidentally killed him.
The Archmages in Crystal Town, didn't bother too take too this crime and ignored it. His friend was one of the unlucky 20% in Bellum born without Magic; as he is.
Knowing that it's only a matter of time before something happens to him; his family are all wizards, and treat him like worse than piss around his house.
He has written an International Job too Fiore; choosing between Seven and Fiore, since those two nations are said to have Magi as skilled as the ones from Bellum. Eventually, he receives a reply from you and your entourage from Fiore.
He wishes you to escort him to the border of Pergrande, but you must make it past Bellum Border Magi, who aren't going too just let you on by. However, there may be room for negotiation. As wizards, or "Magi" in their nation, they will be friendly towards you, and might think that your client is just one of your slaves or servants.
Although they will grow VERY suspicious, as Pergrande is THE most dangerous nation for wizards; eventually, they will deny you passage even if you try to smooth talk them "Magi to Magi". Best to find a way to sneak your client by, or use force.
The mountainous border is FILLED with gigantic magical barriers, and several floating outpost towers; with magnetic lacrima pushing the guard tower up off the ground. The mountain range is totally jam packed with S-Ranked Magical Barriers; and Patrols everywhere. Even if you make it past the initial group at the Border undetected; once in the mountain range, getting to Pergrande will be a task suited only for wizards born once a generation.
The color of a Bellum Magi's hooded, assassin like uniform is bright red.
Enemies:
Weak - Magi Border Patrol Agent x10 - When you start getting near Bellum's borders into Pergrande; you will begin to see Magi Patrols walking around everywhere near the gigantic magical barriers Bellum has erected in the mountain ranges near Pergrande. These magi wear Assassin esque clothing; each of them having a hood raised; and donning a rather large magical staff with wings; and a lacrima crystal in it's center.- Lacrima Staffs and Magi Border Patrol Agents:
These Lacrima staffs can use the elements of Fire, Wind, Water, and Earth with ease. Creating huge A-Ranked spell effects with merely a wave of their staff. Roll a "Normal Dice" if it's above 3, you will be hit by whatever element they choose to assail their opponent with. Once they see what you use against them; they will use the element best suited to taking you down. Wizard to Wizard. They roll around in packs of at least 10 or more; be careful. That many A-Ranked wizards together is extremely dangerous. They go down in 3 hits of A-Ranked damage, or one hit of S-Ranked damage each.
Normal - Magi Border Sergeant x3 - These guys wear similar assassin like gear; except theirs is flecked with silver rivets and designs. They also wield the same Lacrima Staffs as their subordinate Agents. They are extremely skilled however, at tactical fighting and also at melee hand to hand combat or using their Lacrima Staffs, as bo staff weapons. These Magi are amazing to behold on the field of battle.- The Sergeants:
They are identical in every way to the Agents, except they are immune to Illusion and Mind altering effects, and take 3 hits of S-Ranked damage to go down.
Strong - The Magi Border Captain - The Captain of the borders of Bellum. This older Magi has seen more than most will ever forget. From old wars with Pergrande; to journies into Sin; he has done it all. He is no joke; and will end the job and mission right then and there; sending you clamped in Bellum's finest magical chains right back to the Magic Council's doorstep, back to Fiore where you came from. The Archmages of Bellum does not believe in killing fellow Magi (wizards), only regular humans, and monsters. So you will be safe after defeated if the Captain does manage to take you down; as the Magi serve the Archmages will without a second thought.
He has an Elvis like hairstyle, dark hair, and a thick beard. With piercing blue eyes.
The Captain is an extremely powerful Magi, wielding the extremely rare, and dangerous. Titan Magic. He can grow to the size of Godzilla, and attempt to crush you with ease. Although he will never do this unless an opponent uses a technique of huge magnitude (S or Above).- The Captain:
The Captain has four attacks. 'Endless Fist', 'Skyride', 'Crush', and 'True Titan Form'.
Endless Fist - Is when the Captain chooses a target at random; and stretches his arm like Makarov or Mister Fantastic. His fist will slam into an opponent, dealing S-Ranked damage and sending them sailing through the air. No matter where you run; the fist will chase you as far as he can see you or until he's interrupted by a teammate or something else. It has range only limited by what the Captain can see. He can do this with any limb.
Skylift Bomb - Roll a "Normal Dice" if it is above 3; the Captain will grab onto you by surprise. The Captain grabs onto you in a massive S-Ranked bear hug; and takes you on a lift into the skies, by stretching his legs from the ground upward endlessly. He goes so high; that the clouds begin to rush by you. If you are not S-Ranked with a spell effect active, or ready to cast that "Boosts Strength" you will not be able to out muscle him.
This will result in him retracting his legs; rapidly, bringing you above his head for a massive powerbomb. On the way down; wind begins to rip off of you in a vortex from speed. He powerbombs you back down into the mountain range for SS Ranked damage.
Crush - The Captain merely increases both of his fists to the size of school buses and stretches his arms like whips; swinging them everywhere wildly in a massive AOE barrage of giant, whipping hammer fists. Each hit will deal S-Ranked damage if struck. If you are below S-Rank, this will deal H-Ranked damage to you.
True Titan Form - The Captain is fed up. He grows to the size of half of Tenroujima Island, towering over everything. His attacks naturally become S-Ranked in this form; and his attacks deal Crushing damage equivalent to getting stepped on by King Kong. When you get the captain within 10 hits of defeat; he will use this mode.
The Captain takes 20 hits of A-Ranked damage, or 15 hits of S-Ranked damage to defeat.
Boss - Alerted Magi Border Captain - The Captain was somehow alerted to your presence early! He finds you in Bellum's enchanted border mountain range, and (Oh no!) he arrives with 10 Magi Border Patrol Agents to put you Fiore wizards in your place!
Reward: Extremely grateful for helping him escape from Bellum, he sends you a hefty reward from his new home in Pergrande. 100k Jewels.

With all the chaos in Astrid’s life right now it was nice to take a step back from it all, and just for one day, remind herself of where it all started. Her home.
Peace Village. As the name implied it was peaceful village just northeast of Era. There was rarely any conflict in this small area, even dark guilds and monsters seemed to avoid it for some reason, making it the ideal place for anyone who didn’t wish to deal with the harshness of the world and enjoy a rather peaceful and mundane life. Surrounded by large meadows, green forests, and friendly villagers it appeared to be something out of a fairy tale.
But, even a beautiful place like this has its hidden scars. Unless you knew about them yourself, you would never think this place was anything less than perfect. No place is truly ‘peaceful’ after all. That just went against the order of the world. But the people here sure tried their damndest to make you believe it was through their soft smiles and kind nature. Though, like they say, some of the brightest smiles hide the most pain. And if that is the case, this village would be the most painful place in Fiore. So, one might ask if it is so painful, why the guild master would come back at all. There were much better places to go to take a day off other than here for a woman of her caliber. The answer was simple. She ignored the pain, just like the rest of the villagers. Maybe that was why this place was so peaceful. Because no one wished to sit and simmer with the negative, simply choosing to ignore it, as if it were the natural thing to do. That was just how things were done around here. Bad things happened, and no one lingered on it. No one talked about it. No one addressed it, leaving a sort of hanging aura of suspense no one else but the people who were there for the situation could feel. It is what happened with Jiyu and her story. She was here one day, playing and talking with Astrid, the next she was gone and never brought up again. No matter how many times Astrid would ask her grandfather where the wind mage had disappeared to as a child he would never answer, and eventually, she faded into nothing more than a lingering thought the girl would think of from time to time whenever she saw the burnt remains of her house. If she had not reunited with her old childhood friend at Elyx and Izayuki’s wedding a while ago she was sure the dog girl would have eventually been forgotten in her mind altogether, convincing herself she was simply just another one of her stories from her books.
However, she was here to relax and visit some of her old friends, not to to revisit the dark times. Remembering the scars of the past was never something she liked to do much, especially not to the village that had taken her in when her own parents tossed her away. No, that would be disrespectful in some aspects. It was true the village had its problems, but yet what village or group of people didn’t? In the end, where it counts, this place really did come through. And on top of it all, she was here to see the one person who had molded her into what she was today. The person who had given her the tools she needed to seek out her place in the world. Her beloved grandfather.
The elderly man, while busy as the village’s only mechanic, had taken time off and cleared his booked schedule just for her as soon as he heard of his granddaughter’s free time. He promised they would finally be able to sit down with each other and chat. The first time she would get to do so after a year. But today, even with her day off, the village seemed as though it was not about to give her the break she so desperately wanted.
The slayer stood at the small wooden door of her grandfather’s cottage, staring at a letter that had been nailed to the door. Purple optics stared blankly as it hung there, only moving slightly with the cool breezes that would come every now and again.
Three letters written in solid red marker were printed onto the otherwise small, yellowish note.
‘OUT FOR BUSINESS’
He was out. She had known it even from the front gate. As soon as she saw this piece of paper, she knew he was not in. Important business, she assumed, if within the village or somewhere else. Either way, he would not be home until tomorrow at the least.
Was she disappointed? Yes… And no. It did sting, not getting to see the one person she had come all this way to see specifically. But on the other hand she knew his situation. He was in debt with medical bills caused by both her and her grandmother’s trips to the hospital due to the family’s naturally frail bodies. It left the man in so much built up debt he couldn’t afford to not take jobs all the time. Even with the money she sent him every month from her jobs it was not enough. It was never enough. Stopping to spend time with her was costing him more money than he could afford to lose.
A frown puckered onto her lips, using both hands to lift the purple hood she wore over her head before turning in place, slowly exiting the property through the small rusted gate.
Well, apparently she had a day to herself… But the question was, what would she do with it now that her plans were canceled?

The days had flown by since the girl was discovered outside of the village, wounded and weary she was brought back to heal by a kind man. Maybe it was the atmosphere of this village that made time flow by at a slow rate for the woman, or it could have been something else entirely, perhaps the way the people acted here? Everyone was very friendly but at the same time it seemed off, there was an air of doubt seeded within the town as the people went about their days. Something had caused this place a deep-rooted sense of dread and fear, and the girl didn't know what. Part of her just didn't care, it was strange these people had been so kind but none of it mattered to her, it was strange. She seemed to lack empathy for their plights and their desires, perhaps there was something wrong with her? Maybe, she didn't know what sort of person she was before all of this happened which meant she could have been a murderer or something. Still, she didn't feel like killing all of these people right now, so maybe she was just some form of a sociopath? She couldn't say, but the ever-shifting thoughts in her mind about how these people were foolish certainly seemed to lean towards the more malicious side of the moral scale. She didn't wish them direct harm, but if someone else hurt them she might not wish to help, well except for one but that was out of a sense of repaying a debt over being kind.
Speaking of debt he had gone out to handle... something. The girl didn't really pay attention to what he had said to her, instead, she just continued to muse about who she really was while relaxing in the guest bed. Eventually, the sunlight cascaded into the room enough to warrant her move from the comfortable position of sleeping to the annoying status of being fully awake. The horror of the day only dawned on her after the morning preparations were made that he had forgotten to go out to the grocery store again, seemed like he was always busy tinkering away with something and didn't take care of himself too well, that or recently something was bothering him, she couldn't say she didn't care enough to read into his expressions. As a sort of debt, she figured that it would be her job to make sure the place was fully stocked, so she made sure to make a comfortable yet fashionable outfit out of the magic that she apparently could perform and headed out to the store.
It was an uneventful trip, much of the day was simply spent gathering the various food items and moving on. The people were nice but all distant with her, but she didn't care. They all seemed to have their own problems and she didn't wish to become one of them out of nowhere, especially since none of them were outright insulting her, though the urge to hit a few cropped up in her mind when they gave a few stares. How easy would it have been to simply cut them in a few places with her abilities but, again, she resisted for the sole reason of wishing to just move on, so when she got smacked to the ground by a rushing man with a panicked look, the girl only gave him the same glare others gave to her.
"I'm sorry, I just, I need to hurry, uh can you pick those up by yourself?"
"I can."
She stated standing up from her previously prone position.
"If you were in such a rush to move on, then you will surely be able to rush picking up what you caused to become spilled."
"Look, no time I seriously have to get this to Era so it can be spread around to the various guilds, my client was insistent at utmost haste."
"Certainly you will respect the villages peaceful and generous ways and help me here just like you will help your client, yes?"
"Uh..."
His expression furrowed as he noticed she was going to let him budge and with a heavy sigh, he began to pick up the various items and place them into the few bags the girl had been carrying. In his rush to move on from this accident, he didn't notice that the girl had moved around him and swiped the paper from his hand.
"Someone needs to escape from a nation? Now that's interesting, why would one run from their home?"
His eyes widened as he turned around to look towards her to see that, sure enough, she was holding the job request form that he had been carrying.
"Look, that is for the guilds to handle, can I have that back?"
"Keep picking up your mess and maybe."
The form was interesting, it stated that he was under threat of being killed? For being born without magic? That is so foolish, why would one wish to kill one for not having magic, and not have done it earlier? That didn't make sense to the girl as she saw just how crazy it was to try and 'escape' from one's own home. This nation seemed like a place of crazies who had no desire other than to oppress those who were lesser than them. Briefly, the girl contemplated getting a summer in said nation, but she didn't want some officials claiming she was lesser because she wasn't born in the nation. For some reason, she felt that anyone assuming she would be lesser than them made her desire to show them up in ways that ended their lives both slow and painfully. Regardless, the girl finished the form as the man finished picking up the items, and with a bit of a smirk she got a real idea, this was some kind of request that carried danger with it, but more importantly a group of people who believed themselves superior to those who were outside of their nation and who didn't have magic. Wouldn't it just be wonderful to put them in their place? Such a beautiful thought.
"I've picked up all the groceries, could I have my paperback now?"
"No need, I'll take the job. I need to get out and explore anyway."
"You can't be serious, it takes more than one person to do this."
"Are you going to be like them and look down on me? if you are, I can show you exactly what I will do to them, besides you want him free right, and ensuring this goes out to all the guilds would be... expensive and might get you some half-wit who runs into others while they are carrying groceries."
"You won't accept no, will you?"
"You do learn fast, I like that about you at least, now get going if you really need to make another copy of this or something but I will be done probably before anyone else signs up."
Wandering over and picking up the groceries the amnesiac girl made sure to keep the paper tightly within her grip to prevent him from trying to steal it back. Defeated the man ran off to probably try and get another form in Era proper, but he wouldn't need it, the girl would see this through to the end, something within her body made her blood boil to the point that she just couldn't refuse her inner desires to get out there and kick some tail. heading back "home", she was surprised when she saw a silver haired girl leaving the property. By the looks of it the old man wasn't home, so that meant this girl was probably disappointed at not getting whatever item fixed. Approaching closer, the amnesiac called out towards her.
"Still not back huh? What did you need to get fixed, the old man showed me a couple tricks, but the biggest one is my ability to open the door and let you wait inside for him if you have time to burn that is."
It was cheerful but also a little sinister, showing the girls inner annoyance at the events earlier and her unrest at having to wait to tell him she was going off on a trip.
"What are you trying to get fixed anyway?"

What else was there to do in this village? Well, nothing much really. Being peaceful also meant it was rather secluded from the rest of Fiore. There wasn't another village or town for miles around, a good couple of hours or even days trip by wagon. It was much easier entertaining herself when she was a child. There had been other children to mess around with, even if they did treat her a bit differently because of her disability. Or sometimes if all the people and noises were getting too much for her to handle she would often wonder into the forest to explore, maybe sit down a couple of feet in to read a book or just... Let her mind wonder. Though there was also that one time she had let her mind wonder a bit too far and she ended up chasing a butterfly and getting lost... Took the villagers a couple hours into the night to finally find her in a pile of tears, a sobbing mess. So she had to be careful not to disassociate for too long, otherwise she could be in there for hours without realizing it.
Besides that all, she always had her instrument... The main thing she had focused on for much of her life here, if not basically all of it
The silvernette let out a small huff through her nose, gripping the leather strap around her chest that securely tied the violin case to her body. "It's just me and you, old friend" she smiled softly. If she wasn't going to be able to see her grandfather, the next best thing would be to practice a little. If she had some free time, might as well spend it doing something she loved. Though it was sad. She hoped her grandfather would have liked to hear a piece or two to hear how much she had improved under Elyx's guidance for the last year. Hopefully she was starting to sound like how her grandmother played back in her musician days, though, only her grandfather would know, hence why she wanted so desperately for him to hear.
Just as when she was about to head off for some alone time a familiar magical sense caught her attention. The guild master flinched backwards as a flash of brown and pink entered her mind, head lifting and turning in various directions frantically to try and spot the source. The magical sense was undeniable. She had spent so much time in the woman's presence that missing it would have been like dodging a nuke that was coming right for you. Impossible.
Erika.
What did she want? And what was she doing in her home village? Astrid assumed that all their meetings ended when the thread mage had her kill her old body right after she had gotten this new one. And now she was following her? What more could the woman possibly want from her?
... But no matter how much she looked, there was still no sign of blue hair anywhere. The musician only stood still once again when she notice a taller, blonde woman approaching her. Purple eyes refocused onto the girl, blinking slowly, confused. For some reason the magic energy was coming from... Her. But... This was not Erika. At least not the Erika she remembered from the war or the kidnapping. She looked to be just a normal girl. Could her senses be on the fritz?
Her suspicions were proven further when the girl spoke, seemingly unknowing of who Astrid was. With tension built up in her chest the silvernette let out a sigh of relief, untensing her body and once again relaxing. What a strange occurrence. Maybe she was thinking too much about the past events and a deeply repressed memory caused a sudden reaction. She sure hoped she wasn't getting PTSD or something from everything that had happened to her, that would be just her luck.
Seeing as the girl had gotten the wrong idea and thought she was a customer looking for the mechanic the slayer waved her hands dismissively, giving a sheepish smile. "Oh, no no. I'm not here to get anything fixed. Just simply visiting my grandpère. But like you said, it seems he's not back from his latest job."
Though it hadn't gotten her at first now that the violinist was calmer she found it kind of weird how she really didn't recognize this girl's face. Despite weirdly having Erika's magic presence she looked foreign, which was strange for such a small and tightly-knit community such as this one. She had only been gone for a year... Surely a person wouldn't change so much that she wasn't able to recognize them at all. She tilted her head to the side curiously, purple optics blinking widely.
"Sorry madame, but i do not recognize you despite having grown up here... Are you by chance new to the village?" That would explain it, if she was new. While not something that happened all the time new members came to the community every once in a while, hearing about its peaceful reputation and coming here to search for a new life.

"Didn't even offer to help with the bags."
The girl thought as the apparent granddaughter spoke. So this was the girl that the old man wouldn't shut up about and then when she finally came over he was out for whatever sort of business he was doing, maybe she should have paid attention to what he was going to do instead of treating it like the snooze button on the alarm clock. Too late now, at least she had met someone else who knew him, that was a plus, right? Still, this girl seemed familiar for some reason but the amnesiac couldn't quite put her finger on it. Was it someone from her past that she didn't remember? Why did she get a slight feeling of a sadism when she looked at her, had she done something horrible to someone in the past? Honestly, the Amnesiac wouldn't put it past herself to do something horrible to someone else, as a matter of fact, that is why she took the paper from the man that had bumped into her. Regardless, it didn't matter, what did matter was trying to answer the questions the granddaughter was bombarding her with.
"if by new you mean found outside of town unconscious, bruised, and bleeding then yes I am new to this town. Morbid I know but the truth. The old man found me and nursed me back to health a bit, sticking around cause I owe him a debt and don't know where else to go. You sort of owe me as well, because I've been forced to listen to stories of how great you are for the past few days."
The last bit was stated with a bit of a sarcastic bent, even if the amnesiac meant every word of it. She had to drown out more than half of it because frankly, this girl was apparently the one who would cure cancer and cause the entire world to be blessed. Annoying didn't begin to describe the ramblings.
"Hold on, though, if we are going to chat come into the house with me, I don't feel like standing here holding these the entire time."
The curly haired girl moved to walk past the supposed savior of the village and towards the house because if she was going to have a chat she didn't wish to stand out in the middle of the road. Walking up to the door she made sure to pull out the key and undo the lock.
"I guess I can prepare something for you, this is your home after all right? You should know to sit then."
If Astrid followed the amnesiac into the house Astrid would find that the girl would get to work putting the various goods in the cabinet, but not before setting the piece of paper containing the job in Bellum on the main dining table. Only if Astrid followed the girl inside would the amnesiac start to prepare something and ask the question...
"Tea, coffee, or do you like to get hammered during the middle of the day? I'm guessing tea by your dainty appearance, but hey I've been wrong before."
For some reason saying 'i've been wrong before' caused the girl internal pain, as if she believed deep down that she was never wrong. That was foolish but then again most did prove her right by being wrong before she was, at least in this town, so maybe it wasn't as crazy as she thought.

❧
Upon hearing the morbid way of which the woman ended up in the care of her grandfather Astrid couldn't help but allow her eyes to grow wide. She hadn't expected it to be anything like that. Maybe just a simple moving story. You know, like those stories where someone grew bored of city life and decided to move to the middle of nowhere in hopes of an easier life... But not a situation where she had lost her memories and ended up in such a horrible state. "Oh my, that is morbid. Well it's good he found you when he did, it looks like he managed to patch you up nicely" she smiled, looking the girl up and down in a strangely amusing and totally not weird manner. It wasn't her appearance that was amusing, though it was funny how quickly and well her wounds apparently healed. Her skin was completely clean, at least in the places that were visible to her. If she had not told her that she would have never guessed she suffered through anything like it.
If that was one event she had managed to miss over the year she was away, what else could she have possibly missed? The thought that such a big event like that happening without her knowing was worrying. Her grandfather hadn't even told her of this in any of his letters. Did he not want her to know? Or did it simply slip his mind? Maybe he just didn't want her knowing he was gaining a habit of picking up strays off the street. First herself, then her adoptive brother two years later, and now this woman. It seems he could never say no if it involved helping out someone in need, much like herself. Perhaps she had rubbed off on him more than she originally thought.
When the amnesiac mentioned she no longer wanted to talk while holding heavy grocery bags Astrid nodded in agreement, also feeling a bit exhausted from her long trip here. She about to offer to help her carry some of the plastic bags, but the girl started to walk off before she got the chance. Watching while she got the key out from her pocket the curly haired woman offered her something to drink. Honestly up until just now she hadn't really noticed, but she really could go for something to drink right now. It had been a long day of getting motion sickness from the train ride and wondering about the village, visiting the other villagers briefly. Her legs were sore from walking so much, and throat dry from talking to the more chatty individuals. She hadn't really been resting on what was supposed to be her day off. In fact, this was probably much more work than her normal days. "That would be lovely."
Entering the small house the guild master was instantly hit with a strong feeling of nostalgia. Everything was where it had been where she left it on the day she began her journey. The smell of polished wood, the comfortable old house air, even the strange oil spot in the corner near the door. Maybe it a little more trashed than she hoped for, seeing as various irons and scraps littered the floor in neat piles… But it was still better than the piles on top of piles she had been worried about scattered all along the floor. At least they were all in neat little piles, like there was some sort of effort in trying to keep the place tidy.
She traced her finger over the desk near the entrance and lifted it to her eyes, noticing a thin layer of dust left behind on her skin. "He's let this place go a bit..." she murmured, flicking the dust off with her thumb. Being so focused on his job he rarely had any time to clean. That had always been left up to her, since you can be sure Lucius wasn't going to help around. But ever since she left it looked like he was trying to be at least a little tidy… Or maybe someone else was doing it for him. The girl did say she was repaying him for saving her life, so maybe it was her.
Ignoring her want to look over every piece of furniture and clean it the guild master remembered just how exhausted she was and followed the girl into the small kitchen, taking a seat at the table. She swung her legs back and forth, noticing how the chairs were still a little too big for her, where she still couldn’t touch the ground. Though a little frustrating, it still comforted her in a strange way, remembering her childhood where she envied others for their height.
“Oui, tea please. Cream and two sugars.” She probably took her comment about her appearance a little too well, but something laying upon the table caught her attention too much for her to linger upon what the woman said. Something that was strange for this house to have. The paper was very similar to a job request, with the matching bolded title next and fancy brownish paper. Curious she brought it closer for her to read properly, and quickly realized it was indeed a job request. “That’s funny… What’s a job request doing here?” she pondered aloud, purple optics glazing over the details. An S-rank job at that. What was such a thing doing in a village? This belonged in guilds or job boards, not in a village that housed little to no mages at all. All the mages here were not leveled enough for this, and didn’t take jobs in the first place. Why was it here? In her grandfather’s house nonetheless?

"I've tried to convince him to clean it, can't change old ways I suppose."
The amnesiac didn't enjoy living in such a place that had a high level of dust, but she was a freeloader for all intents and purposes so she couldn't complain too much. Still, it was a bit disconcerting that the girl who was related to him was just like him in the fact that she ignored a few plights of people and was off in her own world. The Amnesiac couldn't be too harsh on her as she didn't know if she was that was before, though judging by her personality, she probably wasn't as aloof, but possibly too serious. The reason she believed that she might have been too serious is because she prepared the tea with utmost haste and with the perfection rivaling only those with shameless determination. Setting the cups that she had to personally hand clean before dispensing, Erika made sure to sit and relax before any kind of conversation would take place properly.
"As requested."
Setting the tea near Astrid, the girl would notice that Astrid was looking at a certain parchment that she had gathered earlier. The job form as it was, well the girl didn't care too much about it, other than to show up a nation... wait wasn't Astrid something important? The old man had gone about how he was so proud of her promotion or whatever... hmm that gave the amnesiac an idea.
"Yes some man ran into me while I was grocery shopping and I managed to take the piece of paper from him. I didn't really care about the man's plight, but the fact that a nation thinks it is better than others at something just brings me to a boil. It shouldn't bother me at all, but it really does. It's international though and I would feel bad about leaving the old man all alone unless of course, I was watching over something precious to him."
Clearing her throat a bit she took a sip.
"What I am saying is, you are something like a... oh what did the old man say, a guild master? That means you are pretty strong right? Basically, if you come with me I don't feel like I am just leaving the old man behind and if you go you feel that you are helping your grandfather, you know that phrase uh... com... comra... comrad... do you want to try and tackle it or not? I even have my passport, though it has some weird picture of a girl with brown and pink hair named Erika so, not sure if it is mine or someone else's, maybe I'll just paste my picture over it or something..."

"Merci beaucoup" the slayer thanked the woman without tearing her gaze away from the page, taking the cup by the handle with her free hand. By the description it seems as though this man was running for his life in fear of being slaughtered, simply because he was born without magic. Astrid could not blame him. It was horrible he had to lose a friend like that, and he had all the right to fear for his life if it was so easy to get away with killing someone for a small reason like that. What were the law enforcement in Bellum doing? Well if it was anything like the Magic Council, nothing apparently. Unless they were also part of the population that saw themselves as higher because they had magic... What a horrible place to live in. The guild master herself had been born without any powers... Well, actually that was a lie. Thanks to being related to Izayuki and Elyx there were a few powers she had by birthright. But before those had awakened, she was quite normal. As normal as an bloodthirsty soul could get. Born in a human body to a human bloodline her family heirloom was the only thing that had given her power in the first place. Her violin. Without that, she would have been completely powerless. To think that such places like Bellum existed, it was mind boggling to think if she had been born there instead of in Fiore she could have been killed by now.
If people in Fiore still thought Fiore was a bad place to live after knowing that she would like to see them try and live in Bellum's society.
"That's awful. I think anyone would get upset with something like this happening. It's almost like the old days when mages were the ones being attacked. Except this time, it's reversed. It gives mages a bad name." the snowy haired mage spoke before sipping lightly at her tea.
Not wanting to read much more as it was upsetting her the slayer placed the paper back onto the table, leaning back in her seat to drink the rest of her tea steadily, folding her legs over one another to sit more comfortably.
Upon hearing the woman stumble on her words Astrid couldn't help but let a little giggle slip from her lips, trying to hide it with her free hand as to try and not offend her. "You mean 'comrade'?" She tried to help her finish the word, amused that someone else besides herself was having trouble with words for once. She was awfully busy, being in charge on an entire guild and all. There was still much to learn and figure out, and Astrid wasn't one who would normally take time off from something so important as that. But the more she looked at the paper, the more she could hear it begging for her to take it. She was appalled at Bellum's behavior. What kind of nation would support a false sense of superiority like that? And put a good chunk of their nation in danger? She would love to sort it out and help this poor man...
... It was a tough choice. But she supposed Elyx had given his guild master position to two people for this very reason. Summer was sure to do fine on her own for a bit, especially for a good cause like this. If she called her up and asked the firework mage was sure to agree. Besides, she'd have to leave the girl alone in charge of the guild for future missions anyway, as the same applied for herself too. Whenever Summer was gone, she would look after the guild. Whenever Astrid was gone, Summer would look after the guild.
Besides, now that the amnesic took it it's not like it would ever make it to a board for someone else to take. It was her responsibility to see this through.
"Well, seeing as how it won't make it to a job board now anyway i suppose i can take it with you. But there's no need to act like you're trading one thing for another. My grandpère will be fine on his own. He's been on his own before. Honestly i'd be surprised if he even realizes your gone... Don't take any offense from that, he's just really passionate about his wor-."
Only now processing the ending of the woman's sentence Astrid almost choked on her tea, placing the cup back down on the table before pounding her chest with a fist, trying to cough up the stuck liquid caught in there. Watering eyes looked back up to the curly haired woman, wide with surprise. Erika? She had Erika's passport? First her aura, now the passport. What was this woman doing with an item like that? She blinked rapidly and bit her surprised words back, knowing it wasn't the best thing to start blurting out something the amnesiac would not understand about the ice cream colored mage. "Y-Yeah. T-That is weird... Haha" she laughed awkwardly, trying to not let her sudden change in domineer show too much. That'd probably make the woman uncomfortable, knowing something was bothering her. And when they were about to go on a mission together? She couldn't have something like that hanging over them. And with amnesia and all, it's not like she would know why she has it anyway. "If you tape a picture over it it'll probably work. My brother does that all the time when he's running from the cops." Probably not the smartest thing to say, as her grandfather would have also probably mentioned Lucius to her at some point and if she wanted to she could probably turn him in knowing this... But Astrid wasn't the smartest, as should be obvious by now. At this point she would say anything to move past this and get on with their mission.
If people in Fiore still thought Fiore was a bad place to live after knowing that she would like to see them try and live in Bellum's society.

Astrid demeanor shifted dramatically from before. No longer was she the calm and collected girl, instead she was panicking like she had some form of PTSD or something. Did she have a violent past with passports or something? Did Astrid have some brooding history that the Amnesiac didn't know about? Probably, she seemed like enough of an air head to end up fighting against an inanimate object, actually, she was probably the kid that ate paste or something in middle school. Yes, that's right, not elementary school, middle school. The amnesiac, or according to the weird passport, Erika, thought that little of her. Honestly, all Erika wished to do was bring this girl along because she was a guild master, and that meant she could get a bit more clout around the border and the old man wouldn't get mad at his daughter being guarded by her, she had basically been doing that for him in the this village anyway so it didn't much matter at this point. Astrid stated that he wouldn't even notice Erika was gone, but Erika felt that wouldn't be the case, for some reason she believed that she would be missed, because she felt that her presence was just too important for others to not remember it. It was a strange feeling, why would she be more important than others? Erika just felt that she was more important than others and deserved more. Was that horrible of her? She started to think it wasn't as many seemed incompetent and unaware of their talents, and some were simply worse than her. Granted she seemed to think that everyone was worse than her, but for now, she could suppress that feeling and at least work with those beneath her. This was of course because Erika was better than them, and could allow them to be within her presence in the first place, she was benevolent that way.
"Yeah a picture might work, that or I could just BS it, not like I really need the thing beyond entry anyway."
With moving her right hand to daintily cover her mouth Erika let out a slight 'tee hee', a tee hee which spelled disaster with its simplicity.
"I mean, I plan to have this job be a simple movement over the border, in no way will anything turn violent, especially if anyone tries to state that they are better than me or something, that would just be... silly."
Flash forward to the border, the man had been retrieved, he looked like a bit of a nerd with his glasses and his horrible haircut, not to mention the pocket protector, but since he was too busy looking at the girl's assets and thinking his horrified thoughts of getting across the border unscathed, he was easy to escort. Erika may have been controlling the threads in his clothing as well in case he got any ideas in both running away from Astrid and Erika or if he decided to try and get frisky. If it was one thing Erika didn't want, it was some horny nerd trying to climb on her while she was enjoying herself with some therapeutic disputes against the local law enforcement. The task of getting him to follow them was easy, as was getting over the border. Sure the border guard might have had his family jewels choked a bit by some threads but he cleared them for entry, and though the town was small, the man was easy to spot due to all the people trying to beat him up. What pissed Erika off the most was the fact that these so called powerful mages were just "trying" to beat him up. They hadn't succeeded. The bullying in this country was appalling, all of them needed to go back to school and learn how to throw a punch or a fireball. They made their spells too strong so as to kill but not to scar, the fools. It occurred to the Amnesiac that these thoughts of how to torture and bully showed that she might have been cruel, but she chose to ignore them as she found it too frustrating that people made such simple mistakes instead of being perfection like her.
Arriving at the borderline, Erika made sure to get up to the guard first as to make the first contact, she didn't want Astrid to mess up her flawless escape plan.
"Greetings there, we wish to pass through, please."
"Pass through? I'm sorry the road is closed, we are making sure that those who are trying to escape justice are brought to heel."
"But my friends here and I would really like to get passed the border, we have an important meeting to attend to."
"I am sorry, but no one may pass, no matter how much you try and act like it is important. I'm afraid what you desire isn't as important as the edict passed down to me by my super---"
He didn't get to finish his sentence, he had crossed the line. Erika had tried to be nice, she spoke at least thirty words to the man, but no good, he said that she wasn't as important as whatever he had been told. That simply wasn't true and the bag that suddenly threw itself over him and Erika's bat hitting in the back of the head was her swift vengeance.
"WHAT DID YOU SAY TO ME!? HOW THIS FOR NOT IMPORTANT!? I'D SAY I'M PRETTY IMPORTANT TO YOU RIGHT NOW!"
The weaker man who had hired them was cowering behind Astrid as Erika ruthlessly beat this man with a baseball bat that had a picture of a cute baby seal on it. Stopping before the man was too harmed, but not before he was knocked out, Erika turned the bag back into a tiny ball of threads on her waist and hid the bat... somewhere. The alarm would surely go off when someone discovered this man out cold on the ground, so they had to move quickly.
"Alright, lets get a move on Astrid, we can't wait around here, and we should expect more of the border guard to show up along the way, but don't worry... they think they are more important than me, and thus will learn quickly the error of their foolish mentality."

Getting over the border with Erika was perhaps the easiest time she had ever done so. It was strange. Normally they were so thorough about getting every single piece of identification one could carry on their person. Even back when she was the number one Rising Star, when everyone knew her by name just by looking at her, she still had to go through the long and grueling process of waiting. And waiting. And waiting. And forgetting some sort of ID. And then more waiting. She was lucky if she could ever make any of her appointments on time with the amount of people that wanted to cross into another country every single day.
But this time with Erika, it had been different. Without even showing her passport or waiting in line, they were just allowed to go through. It truly baffled the girl. All they had to do was talk to the guard, and he let them pass. Unknowing of Erika’s technique Astrid could only assume it was something to do with her new position as guild master. Perhaps guild masters were just allowed to go through? The only reason they would be leaving Fiore would be for some sort of important business, normally a business that had to be dealt with quickly. Well whatever the reason Astrid made a note to try that from now on. Maybe there were just some things guild masters could do that others couldn’t. After all while she was a Rising Star she did tend to get a sort of special treatment by normal folk, so something like that was not foreign to her… She wondered what else she could do now with her new position of power… Maybe she could get free éclairs from that bakery in Rose Garden that she simply adored. They already were giving her half off just because she would perform in their shop from time to time. So now with her amount of power maybe they’d give her free food. Yes, instead of something grand like commanding an entire guild to her bidding or fixing the world of its problems her mind went to food. It wasn’t hard to tell where the girl’s mind was right now. With all the traveling she had done so far today was she simply famished, and she didn’t even get to finish her tea before they left the village. Free éclairs sounded like a delicacy right now. Maybe once they were across the border they could get lunch. Though she has heard Pergrande wasn’t exactly friendly towards magic users… But they would be fine as long as they just didn’t use magic, right? Right.
While she would have loved to keep thinking of all the various ways to abuse her power, they were in a hurry to get their client and move on before he met his grisly demise. So she would move on… For now.
Moving along it wasn’t too long before they found their client, currently being beaten up, but still a long way from dead. Enraged at his bully’s behavior Astrid managed to chase them off with a show of power by throwing an icy god’s bellow into the street before them, causing a giant crater of ice where they would have been had they just been a few inches to their left, followed soon after by a few angry shouts. A simple ‘mine is bigger than yours’ attack moment was all it took for the bullies to scamper off, afraid for their lives, leaving the client a little scarred, but saved.
After that the nerdy-looking boy was very adamant about thanking them, trying to hug and overall be fairly touchy with the two women. Astrid, not thinking anything of it more than he was really grateful, was very oblvious to what might be his alternative motive, therefore trusted him a little more than the older woman did. To her, he really was just grateful to the two for saving his life. Nothing more, even if where he was looking was a bit questionable at times.
Arriving at the edge of next border Astrid allowed Erika to try and convince the guard to let them pass. After the other border the silvernette thought the girl would be better at trying to manipulate him than she ever would be. Manipulate… She was exactly like Erika. Her complicated way of wording things and proud nature reminded the guild master of how the shapeshifter had convinced her to basically kill herself. Words were a dangerous thing, especially to the ones who were unaware of the power they held. As much as she would like to think the woman was done with her once and for all she couldn’t help but feel this girl was connect to her some how. It would explain the familiar soul, magic, and passport. But she could not recognize this look, and she acted as though they had never met before. It also didn’t explain why she was living with her grandfather or her suddenly nice attitude… Well, nicer than she normally was. If this was the old Erika Astrid didn’t think she would be helping her grandfather just for saving her. Lucky for her she was in this nicer mood, otherwise her grandfather’s life may have already ended. It was like something had changed within Erika. But she supposed amnesia had something to do with it, if that was actually true and not just another act. It seemed genuine enough. How she got it was another question… Not that she would know even if she did ask. It was all one big mystery, one Astrid almost didn’t want to unveil. She would rather not end up back in the women's clutches again. Her business was her own, and the sooner they got this job done with the sooner she would not have to worry about slipping up and revealing they possibly did know each other. If that happened Erika was sure to drag her back into all the craziness. And after so much was happening around her right now, she was really not up to it.
The guild master stayed a little back from Erika and the guard with their client, allowing her some room and as to not mess her plan up. She was aware she was not too good with words, and would probably end up messing it up somehow. She would leave this to the professionals.
What she had not expected, however, was the conversation to turn violent. As soon as the guard declined their way into the country Erika pulled out a bag and bat and started to beat the man. The two watched in horror from the scene before them, feeling each hit themselves, sending a shiver up her back as if she could feel his pain. Eventually after enough swings to the head the man fell down in a bloody mess, purple eyes wide and watching as he hit the floor with a thud.
The harsh reality settled in as soon as she heard the woman’s words. This really was Erika. Only she was capable of hitting a guy over the head with a baby seal baseball bat and then shrugging it off as if it were nothing. Frozen in place Astrid did not react to her words. All she could do is stare at the woman, remembering Izayuki’s cries and the horrible feeling of dying in her mother’s own arms.
“E… Erika…”
As soon as the name left her lips an alarm began to ring across the border, echoing all across the area.
They knew they were here, and guards were sure to begin piling in.

Oh just perfect, the alarm had gone off, and Astrid looked like she had just seen a ghost or something. Not like the man was dead or anything, why would Erika kill him in the first place, he can't remember how inferior he is to her if he is dead. No, he would have to live with the fact that he lost so horribly to a bag and a bat. He would surely be fired and then what would he do? Cook fries or something? Yes, see murder was overrated, it didn't do anything but produce a corpse and let them move on, but this way meant that he now had to live the rest of his life with this memory. Truly Erika is the hero that we have but not the one we deserve, but sadly we are all stuck with her. Speaking of being stuck, Erika couldn't get across the border with Astrid just standing there. To make matters worse the guy they were supposed to protect was there being very cowardly and a little clingy. If Erika didn't want the money she would have hit him... actually Erika didn't care about the money at all, hmm that gave her an idea. At the next chance, she would just hit the dude over the head and throw to the Pregrande kingdom. That would provide some satisfaction at the end of the day now, wouldn't it? Still, all of this didn't explain why the alarm went off when Astrid said "Erika". Did this Erika person do something before that was horrible? Why did the amnesiac have her passport in the first place? Was she Erika? She didn't look like Erika, or at least like the picture on the passport. The Amnesiac had the brilliant idea to find out what exactly caused the alarms to go off at the name Erika.
Apparently, the border guard was well organized as a group of them rushed forwards towards the two mages. Weapons were drawn and the guards seemed to stand in formation, they were well trained to make such a fast response and to maintain a formation. This place wasn't messing around, but at the same time neither was the amnesiac. Not interested in killing any of them, mostly because she wished to know what they knew, Erika decided that the simplest way was to undermine and split them up. She could do these several ways, sadly their clothing seemed to be magically enhanced otherwise she would have just given them a giant wedgie of death right then and there. No this would require her to be a bit more flamboyant. Still, maybe they knew of her techniques? Perhaps the group knew exactly what Erika was capable of and then would easily take her out? That was a thought, a thought for a loser. Who went into a battle expecting to lose it, what sort of loser coward would ever go into a battle and expect to lose it right off the bat and not accomplish anything.
Erika then turned to look briefly over towards Astrid.
For some reason, Erika believed that Astrid would be dumb enough to war into a war zone and look at butterflies or something. She didn't know why she thought Astrid would do that, but for some reason, her mind thought it to be true. Maybe the enemy would also look at butterflies and would allow Erika a bit of leeway, that or more would come out of the woodwork and attack Astrid and the pervert they had to protect. Protect... wait... that was it, were they after her because...
"Wait, could you possibly know me because I failed to use protection with your mother?"
The group of guards suddenly wished they had elected that guy who wanted to build a giant wall around their kingdom because it would keep people like her out. There wasn't any room for peace this was war now and they were prepared to go all out to silence the young, beautiful, and perfect girl, and they were also going to try and beat up Erika too. What you thought Erika was all of that, well while that may be in her mind, not many would relate to herself sentimate. To show how they disliked the idea of viewing her as perfect they unleashed a cascade of different elemental attacks. A firestorm, a water torrent, earth spikes, and a bolt of lightning. It was terrifying to see in such a unison. The blows created an explosion which shook part of the earth and left a large cloud of smoke and steam. It was a fierce some attack indeed, and the blow seemed to summon yet more of the guards, a few of the sergeants actually moved in towards where Astrid was and apprehend her. Not that Astrid being under threat was important to the plotline since Erika is the main character and the only one who really matters. Matters so much, that the enemy believed her to be destroyed and sighed a breath of relief as the smoke cleared.
"Oh darn, and here Astrid's grandpapa had bought me this outfit and you managed to tear it up a bit..."
Cold sweat dropped from the guard's faces as they saw the smoke fully disappear and Erika standing there with just a bit of a torn top, dusting herself off.
"Look I get it, you are young, you signed up for this job because you couldn't get a real one after school. It pays well and is easy to do and all you have to do is throw a few spells around. I wish I could give examples right now, but somehow I feel as if I've seen hell and back well compared to that... I'd say your efforts are a warm spring breeze at best."
The first rule that the guards failed to realize was never let your enemy give you the instinct of fear. To falter meant death, to believe was to die. Half of Erika's warpath dealt with disrupting the enemies thoughts and getting them to fly off balance with shock and awe. In reality, the attacks would have done quite a bit if Erika hadn't turned the ground around her into threads and hidden away within them. The body up above was merely a fake that she made to give off an illusion of being safe. They fell for it hook line and sinker and now had faltered. By faltering they had stopped moving in order to try and figure out what was next, and that meant they weren't paying attention. Underneath all ten of them Erika struck with her threads, Throwing their weapons to the ground and creating several crosses out of her threads to set them upon, she made sure to pierce them in the correct spots as to keep them up there. manifesting out of the ground like some sort of monster Erika looked up towards the poor guards and cadets.
"One of you will get to go home without any serious wounds, the person that does is the one who tells me what it was that you knew me for. The rest will all die horrifically. The choice is yours."
Not even a second passed when one of them, a sort of nerdy looking man shouted out something. Erika didn't even bother to make it out before he exploded into a shower of threads and fell to the ground.
"Such a naughty boy, going to let all of the others die horrifically just so you could live. All of you are welcome, if he was going to spill over this then he wasn't worth having on the squad. I don't need to know what it was that I did in the past to deserve such hatred and hostile reaction. It's pointless to know when I can just do something equally horrific and create yet another reason for your reaction, your fear, your hatred. It's poetic really, the girl doesn't even know why they hate her, so instead of trying to be liked or giving up, she makes them fear her more. Squirm on your prisons, you will be free of them when we have left the area, and you can remember who did this to you and why."
None of them said a word, they were all too busy trying to stay alive at the moment and looking at their dead comrade on the ground. Hopefully, Astrid had finished her end of the battle if there was one, and then they could be on their way out of the gate. Moving towards the gate Erika made sure to open it, even though it was magically sealed to only respond to a few people, Erika had a way to get it open. She had an arm which was fresh out of an owner just ready to open it, and with an of a hand off the magical barrier receded so they could move along.

How could have she been so blind? The answer of who this person was was staring her in the face the entire time. From her soul's energy, to the way she spoke, and even the passport she carried around on her person. This was Erika, and the slayer could no longer deny that. Many questions started filling her mind all at once, but there were so many she was unable to actually think on each one individually and they eventually collided into just simple phrases shaking from the elf's lips."What?.... H-How? Why?" The girl stepped back, purple eyes wide and staring at the thread mage. But having stepped back meant she also managed to step on their client's foot unknowingly, not realizing ever since the alarm started ringing he took this as an opportunity to get closer to the silvernette. She jumped at his uncomfortable grunt and spun around to face him, watching him whine and hop around on one leg while holding the other in his grasp. At least his squeaky cry seemed to manage to keep the elf in reality than to allow her to wonder off into space again while she had a mental break down. That could have been bad given the current situation. "Oh, monsieur! I am so sorry, i did not mean to step on you!" she spoke worryingly, seemingly having forgotten that there were currently noises going off and possibly that the border guards were on their way to instead make sure the young man was okay.
"It's fine" he rumbled under his breath, eventually ceasing his hopping and letting his foot back down to the floor. "I'm okay. Your beautiful face has cured me of my pain, Miss Astrid." Flustered and out of breath from these actions he pushed his glasses further up his nose, looking back up and around them as guards started to flood the area. Instantly the nerdy boy clutched himself onto the slayer, screaming and holding onto her arm tightly as humanly possible. "Besides we've got bigger problems right now!!"
Narrowing her eyes Astrid frowned and stared at the three men surrounding her, and for a brief moment, looked over to Erika who was dealing with her own batch of these guys. Except Astrid's three men all looked alike and had fancy speckles decorating their clothes and lacrima staffs. A higher power maybe? Of course she would be the one to get the more experienced men, Astrid couldn't help but think that was somehow part of Erika's plans.
As much as she didn't want to see the woman again now wasn't the time to freak out over her. She could do that later, you know, when they weren't about to get arrested and thrown in jail. Right now she had to concentrate on her job and getting this boy to safety. Then afterwards, maybe. Just maybe she could freak out a little. Feeling the boy start to sob and cry the slayer tried to get out of his grip in order to prepare an attack. But the more she did, the tighter he squeezed. Great, they weren't going to get anywhere like this. "We're all going to die! And i haven't even gotten laid yet!" the boy sobbed, tears streaming like waterfalls from his eyes.
Frustrated, the girl rolled her eyes. As naive as she was to all his other flirting she wasn't dumb enough to not know what he wanted after that comment.
"We're not going to die. Trust me, i should have been dead twice over already..." she said the last part quieter, more to say to it herself than him. And she was sure Erika couldn't die either, with her weird powers and all. The only one here who could probably die was him... But she wouldn't tell him that, it'd just make him whine even more.
Using a free hand Astrid clenched it before opening it once more, revealing a silver droplet of light gathering together from the light within the air.
"Close your eyes and plug your ears." She commanded in an audible whisper.
The boy blinked up at her, confused.
"Why?"
"Just do it!" she commanded in a more aggressive tone, not being in the mood to be questioned when so much was on the line.
It was a bad idea to do this in a closed space, Astrid knew this for a fact. But with him clutching as her shoulder she couldn't fight off these dudes without the chance of losing him. There was only one thing she could think to do. She she couldn't fight, she would run.
Waiting for a split second for the boy to follow her orders she too closed her eyes. Her ears, however? She couldn't do anything about it. Like stated before, he was gripping so tight she couldn't move her arm. And with the other holding onto the small light grenade there was nothing she could do to prepare for what was next. So instead, she would have to bare through it. Gritting her teeth the slayer threw down the ball of light. It exploded upon contact with the metal flooring, causing a bright light to blind and to deafen anyone within the area if they had not been prepared. The men yelled and screamed in agony as the light damage was burned into their skin, along with their sudden hearing loss and blindness. While Astrid did not suffer from the damage or blindness she did however regain what was once her's. Deafness. Granted it wasn't complete loss of hearing as from before. This time a high pitched ringing noise throbbed through her ears, muffling the various sounds of the men screaming in pain both from her own and Erika's attacks, a noise that was reminisce of being underwater though without the fun part of actually being in water. Opening her eyes she looked towards Erika, squinting as she let the flash of light she was able to still see through her eyelids wear off. Her mind hazed, wincing as the piercing sound hurt all the way through her system. Knowing it wouldn't take long for this to wear off she had to act quick. Gathering her strength the elf picked up the boy bridal style and dragged him over to the other woman, dodging the one body on the floor and the other men who still held their heads in pain.
With the ringing slowly fading away Astrid stopped beside Erika, looking her over one last time with one eye open, having the other one closed as if it would help with the pain. She really looked nothing like the Erika she knew...
"This should give us enough time to get across the border. They won't be good for another couple minutes at least." And that was all she said. Unwanting to look at her any longer Astrid faced forward and began to sprint off down the hallway, hoping to reach some sort of exit before anymore guards came. She didn't want to have to do that again...

The fresh feeling of victory was upon Erika, while there could still be more, she didn't fancy their chances to get past them. Astrid would probably just beat up her opponents and they could all move on. Nothing could get in the way of Erika's good time right now, nothing could make her regret any actions in the slightest, and in no way would Erika get angry in this moment, she had just given the feeling of fear to a new generation, and it was grand...
AND THEN ASTRID ATE THE PASTE AND DROPPED SOME KIND OF LIGHTBOMB.
As the light washed over her and Erika's eyes were blinded with horrific force and her ears were met with a detestable ringing, she didn't even think of fixing her hearing and sight, she was far too angry. Error 404 Erika not found, her face was bright red out of frustration. Her moment of glory was ruined with one swift strike, her smug attitude crushed, all because SOMEONE thought it was a good idea to make it so everyone became a blind deaf fetus, oh wait maybe misery just wanted company! Apparently, during all of this, Astrid came up to Erika in order to tell her that they might be able to get across the border now because everyone would be too busy being in pain or something.
"REALLY!? THEY WON'T BE GOOD FOR A COUPLE OF MINUTES!? THAT'S JUST GREAT! HEY, I JUST FOUND OUT SOME INFORMATION TO, YOU PUT THE ASS IN ASTRID."
At the very moment Erika was shouting, the most unfortunate thing happened to the guards, they arrived as reinforcements. Erika didn't bother to count them, she could just feel their magic presence and that was enough. With the rage of a thousand angry wombats which had just been pepper sprayed by a kindergarten, she took control of their clothes.
"I SWEAR ASTRID IF I DIDN'T OWE YOUR GRANDFATHER...."
The entrance to the borders suddenly exploded into a flurry of gore as all the reinforcements met their end by an engaged Erika, the most fierce-some and terrifying of petty revenge machines every created.
"THAT WOULD BE YOU!"
Calming down a bit as her eyesight and hearing returned slightly Erika sighed in frustration.
"As for you, four eyes, you want to get laid right?"
"Uh... yeah?"
"Well, you are in luck! If you don't move your ass, I'll fuck you right here and now, and unless you are into gruesome horrific deaths... you better move. NOW LET'S LEAVE!"
Erika wasn't in a playful mood, they were leaving right now, heck all of the guards that were still alive were lucky that Erika had forgotten about them. Clearly the paragon of what it meant to be the hero, Erika was just trying to keep the client safe, well, from her own rage at this point. if it wasn't for the fact that Astrid was sort of a debt to her grandfather Erika would just snap her neck. Wait, maybe Astrid wanted Erika to snap her neck? She seemed like the type of enjoy torture for some kind of reason. Oh no, where all of her attacks designed to be masochistic towards herself? Was her entire arsenal of moves supposedly just to help her get some sick thrill? You know, whatever happened to just showing someone you were better than them, and then killing them. You didn't need to make them deaf and blind, you just stab them. it solved the problem, it was over and done with. It was just, why did Astrid have to be so stupid. As Erika stomped out of the gatehouse, she took the lead because who knows where they would end up if Astrid was in charge, and the group made their way towards the border. Silent for the entire time she could feel the magicless loser behind her pissing himself in terror, probably because any unfortunate souls guarding the full space between the border of the countries was met with a swift impaling by their own underwear.
It was then that the main event happened, or so the main event would have happened if Erika wasn't in the worst mood of her known life. For some reason, she felt the same level of resentment as towards her father, even though she didn't remember the man, subconsciously she felt the same hatred.
"You criminals, trying to cross our border, do you really think you could get past my border guard? I've brought the best of the best with me, I am captain Trumpus Wallus, and I'll make you pay for what you have done."
"Are you married?"
"No...?"
"Any family?"
"Yes, why?"
"Good, then I know who to send a letter to inform them that their son was a punk bitch."
All of the elite guards and the captain felt a tingling in their boxers met with a deathly silence. Exploding all of them Erika merely kept walking but making sure to gain the man's memories so she could indeed tell his little brother who he was working hard to maintain for what a little punk his brother was. Was this wrong and disturbing? Yes, it was, but Erika was extremely pissed off at the moment to the point where her tiny moral compass suddenly lost all magnetism. While the journey hadn't been long, they finally came across part of the defenses of the kingdom of hate magic or something. Whatever, Erika didn't care at all right now, and just wanted to get paid and get this over with. Turning to the little punk they had kept safe this whole time Erika gave him a sharp glare.
"You got the money? We got you hear safe and sound."
"Uh yeah I have it right here.."
Handing them the money Erika shifted from judgement to a smile.
"Great, your new life awaits you!"
Walking past him Erika gave him a pat on the shoulder before swift kicking him into the air and over the wall. He would live... probably... eh she had already gotten paid so it didn't matter. Looking towards Astrid, Erika would keep the same smile upon her face.
"Hey Astrid, so I was wondering, we made a REALLY great team, what was that guild thing you were a master of? Do you think i should join it?"
It was all in jest and a giant prank on Erika's part, but hey right now she was feeling petty and wanted to use Astrid as a punching bag.

Erika's screaming went in one ear and out of the other. 'The ass in Astrid', wow, that wasn't one she had heard before. Very original. It's not like the village kids got a kick out of that when she was younger. If she had a penny for every time Lucius put emphases on that part of her name, well, she could have just bought their client a plane ticket out of here and still had enough left over to travel the world. Twice over. What was she so worked up about? It's not like she could have done anything else in that situation. The boy was hanging on too tight to her arm and they were surrounded. She was stuck. If anything the elf should be the one whining about it. She had been at the center of the explosion. If she didn't have such a naturally high defense to her own magic the guards would have had to scrape pieces of her off the walls the rest of the afternoon.
Keeping her irritation to herself Astrid scowled darkly and kept her head forward while she jogged the rest of the way to the border, seemingly ignoring all of the pieces of human flesh that was being blown up all around her due to the thread mage's rage. She kept her stare hard and forward, trying to keep her concentration on getting their client to the border rather than the massacre that was happening all around her. A splatter of blood slapped itself across the slayer's face when she went through the exploding body of the captain, not bothering to try and protect herself from it. Not that she could have anyway. Both her eyesight and hearing were still a little foggy from the light bomb. Not that she seemed to care that much. By now she was so consumed with her inner anger that blood meant little to her.
She could have done so many things to Erika by now. The temptation the slap the woman across the face and punch her into the next plant over was rising with every second she could feel the warm blood drip down her forehead and off her chin. But somehow the elf, for once, was managing to control her anger. Though maybe not by much, as a moments when her irritation managed to creep in her nails would dig into her own hand so hard that it would tear the skin and make it bleed.
Finally, they were at the border. Thank the gods. Their journey was coming to an end and in a few minutes she would never have to see the thread mage again... Hopefully. Should she tell her grandfather he was housing a maniac?... Maybe. But yet again she didn't really seem to remember who she was, so maybe she wasn't as dangerous as what she might be if she still had her memories. But still, she did have to worry about her grandfather. One wrong move and he could end up dying from a major wedge. But he was a strong man, he could take it... Probably. He if had't died already he was pretty safe. Besides, apparently Erika had some sort of debt to him now that he saved her life. And while Erika might seem a little cold or uncaring sometimes Astrid had to still admire her for her wanting to pay debts back. It seemed... Weird and totally out of character for her type of person. But she guessed maniacs had some morals too.
She watched from off to the side as Erika took his money and sent the client flying over the wall. Astrid kept an ear out, pausing until she heard a weak 'thank you' squeak from out of him. Well, he survived. They all did. Hard to believe, as last time she saw the thread mage she was practically sentenced to death.
But what came out of Erika's mouth next, was not something she was expecting. The woman asked if Golden Phoenix was a good guild, and implied if she should join it. Purple eyes grew wide, shifting from the blank stare from before.
... Erika, in her guild? They already had Lucius sneaked in there. Imagine if she joined. Their body count was sure to double. Yeah, that wasn't going to happen. But the slayer knew better than to deny Erika something she wanted.
A cold sweat drooped over the slayer's forehead, forcing an awkward grin. "Well it sure was nice to meet you. Wow would you look at the time! Our job is done. Au revoir!" Looking at her invisible watch and acting as though she had not heard her the elf vanished in a flash of blinding silver light, shooting off back across the border as fast as she could. Surely she would not follow her back to the guild or something. No, of course not. Erika would not be so bothered as to go through all that trouble just find her.
... Right?
Keeping her irritation to herself Astrid scowled darkly and kept her head forward while she jogged the rest of the way to the border, seemingly ignoring all of the pieces of human flesh that was being blown up all around her due to the thread mage's rage.
Erika would not be so bothered as to go through all that trouble just find her.
... Right?

Astrid sure did leave fast, Erika didn't expect it. Well, she sort of expected Astrid to run away fast, after all, Astrid seemed pretty scared of Erika, for almost no reason. The Amnesiac thought she was being reasonable this entire time, she hadn't killed Astrid at all, nor had she harmed her, to her knowledge, all she was, was a little bit upset, but apparently, Astrid was also upset because Erika had been upset. Could she blame Erika? Astrid had no idea what it meant to be deaf! it was terrible, not being able to hear much of anything, imagine going through your entire life while being deaf, that would just be terrible. What else would Erika do, take up the violin or something to play her sorrows away? Yeah right, she wasn't a nerd. Still, she was at the end of a road, she supposed the only solution would be to head back to Astrid's grandfather and make sure he wasn't dead or something. Man, that would be a long and annoying trip to take, but she would have to head back home anyway, so it wasn't a super big deal. If only Erika could just fast travel over there with a portal or something, and some medicine to make her headache go away.
It was a long trek back because Erika took the scenic route. She figured going back through bellium would be a bad idea, so instead, she went to pergrande to catch a boat all the way back towards Fiore. The country was fine, though they seemed to hate magic for some dumb reason. Erika seemed to think in her mind how easy it would be to destroy all of them, but she wondered why she thought that? Was it because of their stupidity in not using magic, or was it because of some other reason deep down inside of her? She didn't hate them, they didn't seem like complete snobs, as a matter of fact, the totalitarian law was quite nice compared to humdrum monarchies of Fiore. Now if only there was a hard-fisted dictatorship, then Erika could like this place, but sadly it was more about knowledge suppression and being all gothic than actually progressive in its cruelty, so she only paid it enough attention to pretend she cared, and otherwise found transportation back to the homeland. It wasn't easy, that was for sure, no one wanted to seem to go to a country with magic, but Erika was good at solving problems since she used the greatest tool of all, her brain, her brain and lots of violence. Thankfully she was discrete enough not to get wanted in another country and the guy whose boat she stole was a jerk anyway, he was going to be a professional fidget spinner or something, so once again the world owed her big time for getting rid of such a corrupt and horrific being.
The trip was so long she almost saw the country next fall, well not really just a couple of days, but this time she didn't have the wonderful company of the paste eater, so Erika was a bit sad. Maybe she shouldn't have been so meaning towards Astrid after all Astrid was just trying her best, she was doing what she thought was right. Then Erika remembered that Erika is the one who is always correct so it doesn't matter if Astrid thought she was doing the right thing, it harmed Erika, thus Astrid wasn't doing the right thing at all. Erika marveled at her own ability to solve problems, it made life so simple and perfect, just like her, well the perfect part at least as Erika was anything but simple. The peace village was the same as she had left it, peaceful and happy, such a shame she had hoped a bit of action would be present, but the only real action was Timmy falling down a well again, and at this point Erika wasn't going to save his butt again, she had already gotten his kickball anyway so it didn't matter.
Arriving at Astrid's grandfather's house, Erika opened the door with a hearty "I'm home", only to be greeted by the old man seemingly throw parts around trying to fix something. He was so absorbed that he didn't even see Erika come in, oh well, he looked like he had at least cleaned the place so Erika didn't care, what she did care about however was the fact that the mail had been piling up. Daily bills, trash magazines... wait for Fiore boy? Seriously? Wasn't this dude married at some point, and it's not hard to go out and get some, oh whatever, so long as Erika didn't hear it...
Junk mail, more bills, a check from Astrid... wait for a check from Astrid? Opening the mail like a criminal Erika looked inside. Six figures, SIX FIGURES!? Astrid didn't even pay for lunch that cheapskate, wow, okay, Erika felt assaulted now. What wasn't Erika as good as Astrid's own grandfather now huh? Yes, it makes sense, if Erika was just some normal person, but Erika is Erika, so that means she deserved more, for frick's sake all she got was a happy meal for the Hera toy to use a pin cushion later anyway. The game was rigged from the start. Steaming over that, Erika noticed there was one more letter ad it was addressed to her. Opening it, Erika expected it to be some kind of bomb or something considering how she was basically a terrorist in one country now, but it wasn't, thankfully; Erika didn't wish to hunt down whoever would send her a bomb in the mail just to kill them, she had other things to do, like make Astrid pay for a happy meal the cheapskate. The letter seemed polite at first and it invited her to a dinner party, wait, a dinner party? That's so... weird, why would she be invited to a dinner party? It was probably a trap, but whatever, maybe the inner party would be happy meals, and then maybe someone would finally pay for her magicdonalds.
