Stop The Noise! (Chaotic + Frederik)

Ayeseru was laying around in his new room at Savage Skull. He was extremely comfortable and really liked it. It had been some time ago since he was last in a job, and so he really wanted something exciting. He got up, dressed himself, took his scythe, and went downstairs. As expected, most jobs either were out of his power or he needed an adult for them.

Awww man... Where am I going to find someone to do this job with me? Ayeseru picked out a job which required to stop a strange noise in some sort of canyon, though it was out of his own power, so he began searching around the Savage Skull area. He first started out with the open hall, where most of the mages would be about. He was desperate to go on the job, so he had asked even weaker mages than himself to tag along with him, naturally, they would say no. He sighed and began threatening them, but that didn't take him any closer than just asking them.

It was clear very quickly that not many of the mages really liked Ayeseru too much, though he went up a floor where there would be more powerful mages. They had an even slighter chance of saying "Okay, let's go.", but he had to try. They weren't quite up to his power, but they were pretty close. He had to word his words more carefully, in order to convince them. He tried acting polite to them, though that didn't work and he was shunned off by them. That really pissed him off, he wanted to just obliterate where they stand, though he was pretty sure that the higher-ups wouldn't appreciate his actions if he would do such a thing, though it would be a clear display of superiority and power.

Then... A wild idea came to him, The Keeper... He's the one that accepted me to this guild, so he probably has taken some sort of liking to me. Though he has accepted many others as well, I am sure that he very much likes how I preformed my missions, and the fact that I got stronger. I wonder if he'll go with me. Won't know till I ask, though the odds are extremely high he won't say yes. The Keeper was one of the very few Ayeseru actually respected, so he would act more polite towards him and would never say anything out of order. He would listen to what he had to say and for the most part obey it. It wasn't any type of ass kissing, it was just how any soldier would treat their higher-ups.

He wandered the huge halls of Savage Skull. It was a huge, dull and hardly lit place. The only places which really had any decoration were the rooms of "important", the dorms that the mages slept in, and the guilds main hall. The halls were very dark though, since the candles would barely light them, but that was fine for Ayeseru's view in the dark. It took him a while due to the big corridors, but he reached the Keeper's office, knocked, and opened it. He put the job request on his table and told him "Keeper, I am stronger now. I need to go on a more difficult job, but unfortunately this one happens to be out of my league. Will you accompany me on it?"

Frederick stood there staring out of his window, admiring the surroundings of Savage Skull. It was a beauty in its own way, even though most people wouldn't agree with Frederick. The dark and grim landscape that surrounded the Savage Skull guildhall was mostly avoided by the people. But still Frederick thought it had some sort of serenity over it, if he didn't know better that is.
He knew as no other that these polluted lands hid some terrifying creatures, in all different kind of shapes and forms.

'huuuh..' Frederick let out a huge sigh, he was about to start his more boring part of his job today. Going around the guild hall, checking up if people kept doing their work properly. Frederick set down on his bed to put on his boots and after that he covered himself in his hooded dark cloak. Something that had become his trademark, the very thing how people recognized the Keeper of the guild. He moved towards his office that was next to his room and quickly grabbed a notebook from his desk before leaving for his rounds.

His rounds as always lead him first to the sentries on top of the guild, and they in turn always had nothing major to report. Just the entering and leaving of dark mages or other grunts from the guildhall. After all nobody would dare to attack them here. The rest of his rounds wasn't that exciting either, checking up on the quartermaster to see how their stocks were holding up and after that Frederick looked over the training schedule of their new recruits for a while. And as always it was the same, he sighed again. Frederick probably didn't had to do these rounds at all, if something was wrong they come to his office anyway. But it wasn't about him liking to do the round or not, it was about discipline and order in the guild. Making sure personally that nothing slacked off.

After his rounds Frederick happily sat down in his office chair again, being able to get back to his research was always his top priority. Reading ancient scrolls to locate artifacts and power that could help their guild, or his own personal research. Where he experimented on bringing back the death from the world beyond. But as he looked upon his desk and the pile of paper work that was placed in front of him his happiness faded. 'Hmm maybe I need a break from all my work,I can't even remember when I went on a actual job the last time.'
Somehow it seemed that his own thought had reached out through the guild, because the moment he was thinking of going on a job a dark mage entered his office and put a job pamphlet on his desk.
"Keeper, I am stronger now. I need to go on a more difficult job, but unfortunately this one happens to be out of my league. Will you accompany me on it?"

Frederick glared at him from under his hood, Ayeseru Suzumoto a young dragon slayer in his guild. Someone who was a powerful asset.
'Hmm, you're right about that. You are stronger now then before especially after your exam with the Reaper King.'
Frederick had high hopes for his fellow guild mate, he was smart and cunning. And wielded a powerful magic. And besides he knew his own limits. For a guild filled with members who always tried to prove themselves that was a rare and strong quality. He was someone that would outgrew Frederick at some point, and maybe even took his place as the keeper.
'... Allright, Suzumoto. I will accompany you on this mission, experience is important for our mages. And who am I to deny that to them. Also I could use some time away from the guild.'

Ayeseru did not expect the Keeper to actually agree to go with him on the job. He was a busy man with many duties and a goal which was unknown to Ayeseru. Immediately, he wanted to ask many questions and start running to the train station they would use to travel in, or whatever the Keeper wanted to use as transportation. He had to keep himself under control though, he was rushing ahead of himself and the questions he had in mind would be answered in due time. He picked up the flier and looked at the location, which would probably far away.

"I'm very glad that you agree to what I was thinking. Now, there are a few matters that need to be attended to first. How are we going to get to this place, and where do you think we meet our client, and how in the world do we stop a noise when we have no idea what is causing it?" He was rushing ahead of himself again, though he was curious about many things, mainly they had to do about qualities of the Keeper. He had never actually seen the Keeper out of his own office apart from when Ayeseru first joined.

The Keeper was a complete mystery to him, the reason this bothered him is because he could analyze people quickly and tell their habits, the way they speak, attitudes, heck, even the way they breathe! Not the Lord Frederik though, he was a strange one. What interested him the most is his magic and how he battles, because from all of the work he does it may sometimes cross your mind that he might even be more powerful than what people give him credit for. He was going to have to be in his top notch shape in order to impress him.

The Keeper said nothing, but rose up and walked out of his office, obviously being a signal for Ayeseru to follow him. Not a word was uttered as they passed the empty and dark corridors. It would be intimidating to others, walking with someone like the Keeper all alone in the silent, dark corridors. It almost gave Ayeseru the feeling as if the Keeper would all of the sudden surprise attack him, but of course, that didn't happen. When they emerged out from the corridors and entered the main guild hall, everything went silent.

It seemed to be a rarity that the Keeper would come out of his office, though then again, Ayeseru didn't know that because he too would stay in his room most of the time. He heard many whispers, and he couldn't really define them due to all of the people whispering at once. He simply looked around at them as this all happened. Ayeseru had to go the the bar though before they headed out, and grabbed some root beer. Always wanted to try this stuff... Then, both he and the Keeper headed towards the outside. He looked at the Keeper which basically was the same thing as asking "What do we do now?"

Frederick and Ayeseru were standing outside the guild, the huge building that towered above them and casted a long shadow over the two mages.
'What do we do now?' inquired the dragon slayer while looking at him.
'Hmm, guess we travel to the town that is closest to the mysterious canyon, and ask around how to get to the village that had put out the job. But for now let's go to the train station first'

The nearest train station was still a three day walk from their guild, well it could be a one day walk if they would go straight through the forest instead of walking around it. But it was the safest way, and Frederick didn't want to fight some tremendous creature before they even had reached their destination. So they reached the train station without encountering any troubles on their path. From there on out their journey went rather fast, after they had boarded the train they only had to wait one more day before reaching the town near the mysterious canyon. And just as the three days of walking, this part of the journey mostly went down in utter silence. It was because that Frederick wasn't much for small talk, and mostly only answered when spoken to. And then it still were only short answers or a silent nod with his head.

After a day traveling with the train they had arrived at town, leaving behind in the train a conductor and the other travelers. Who were more then happy that the eerie hooded man and the mage with the scythe were gone. Once on off the train platform and in the station main hall, Frederick turned towards Ayeseru 'Well, we should probably go around asking about the village and the noise in the nearby canyon. Some local taverns mostly do the trick.'
They didn't have to walk very far from the station to find the first tavern, it was a colorful place and tidy place. Not as most of the taverns along the roads outside of the town, those were mostly a little more dirty then this.
The two dark mages decided to sit down at a table in the corner, out of sight of prying eyes.
'Let's ask one of the waiters first, they know most of the rumors going around' said Frederick while raising his hand to a nearby girl who catered around drinks. The girl saw his hand and threw a smile towards the to mages while shouting that she would be right over.

Frederick looked over the table at Ayeseru, curious why he still didn't say anything about Frederick's silence during their traveling. The dragon slayer probably had a lot of questions. Frederick thought that it maybe was a little unfair for him too know so much about the slayer, while he in turn almost didn't know anything about him.
'My apologies that I am not the most pleasant travel companion, as you may have noticed. So let me make it up to you, there are probably some question you want to ask me right'

Ayeseru traveled with the Keeper in utter silence, though he didn't mind. He wasn't one to speak much, and he got the same impression from the Keeper. It took them quite a while to reach their destination, though when they did, he didn't expect the Keeper to go to a bar. They sat in the corner, and the Keeper said a few things, which actually came to a shock to him. The key words though were 'There are probably some question you want to ask me right?' Ayeseru nodded his head once, though didn't speak right away.

"That is correct... I do have many questions to ask, so I'll begin now. First of all, the obvious question - What type of magic do you use, Keeper? I have never seen you display it. Secondly, when did you join... The savages?" The waitress was coming along, asking if they wanted to order anything. Ayeseru asked for some orange juice and a regular bacon and eggs breakfast. Ayeseru wasn't paying attention, so he didn't hear if the Keeper ordered anything or not. He waited till the waitress was out of hearing range to continue.

"Anyways... We'll ask her about the rumors when she comes back. On a side note, sorry to be asking all of these questions, but I feel as if I'll forget if I don't ask them all at once. I'm nearing the end of them, though. My third question would be what is your own personal goal? My fourth would be have you found the person I requested for? My fifth and final one would be why not ask the mayor of the town, or whoever rules it? He or she would be most likely to know about it, since it would be more than reasonable for the leader to send out the request."

Ayeseru knew he was probably being annoying, especially with piling up so many questions at once without even giving the Keeper a chance to answer them one by one, but he wanted to know the information. He had his reasons, not that he'd reveal it to anyone though. He awaited anxiously for the Keepers answers, though he was silent for the time being. Hmm... I suppose I asked too many questions at once. I suppose I really should work on my social skills more... And see what's more acceptable. He looked on as the Keeper remained silent.

Ayeseru could clearly hear the talk of others as he waited for him, they sounded so happy. Their lives in place, all going on normally. There were some couples in the bar, seeing it wasn't a really "serious" bar, no one was really getting drunk or womanizing, no real hardcore dancing, just a nice, relaxing tavern. It had been so long since Ayeseru had felt true happiness, and he probably would never anymore. Still, he would definitely try as much as he could to obtain it. The Keeper seemed to be glaring at him, which wasn't a good sign, though he was about to speak.

Frederick glared at the dragon slayer from under his hood, the quick round of prying questions he fired at him was annoying, but a little bit amusing at the same time. He took a zip from the ale the waitress just brought him before he spoke.
'I will answer your questions in the same order you asked them. One, I use darkness magic, a raw and powerful for that I can use for destruction or more subtle spells. Two, that would be a few years ago, when I was twenty one I guess. I am not that much older then most of the mages in our guild. Three, that is none of your concern. Maybe in due time I will tell you why I joined, but for now all you need to know is that I need this guild for my personal goals....and that I will obliterate anyone who stands in my way for reaching that goal.'
Off course it was none of the Ayeseru's business why Frederick joined the guild, but the truth was that it was too painful too share with anyone why he was in the darkest of guilds. Even if it has been a couple of years since the death of his fiancee, the memories where still there. Even the most higher ranked mages didn't know why he was here, they only knew he was conducting experiments and researched old legends on bringing back the death. Nobody knew that it was all for Cecilia Dumas, his former love.
After a few seconds of silence Frederick continued.
'Fourth, I have been sending some operatives in the field to look for this Sasori Suzumoto. And unfortunately I have to say that we still haven't found him yet. But I can tell you that we are close, he is quite a difficult person to find that is. And fifth, the reason why we haven't gone straight for the mayor is that we are dark mages. We have to keep a low profile, so it is best to ask around and eventually someone will tell us about the village that had put the job out.

Frederick raised his hand again towards the waitress, whom immediately came over to their table.
'What can I do for you fine gentleman's' She said with a wink.
'Well that depends dear, we have heard that there was some village that had some problem in the canyons. And we've been sent here from our guild to deal with the problem. It would be very helpful if you could tell us where to go.' The moment Frederick said it was very helpful he laid down several jewels on the table.
'Well don't you know how to sway a woman, mister...?'
Keeper'
'Mister Keeper' she said with a smile and swooped the jewels quickly into her pocket. 'The village you're looking for is not that far away actually, just a couple of hours walking east from here into the canyon. You can't miss it! Be careful thou, they said that there is a tremendous creature walking around there. Anyways good luck out there' she said with a wink before walking off.

Ayeseru got purely silent as he heard the Keeper say something about his dead brother, the brother he was trying to avenge. He felt rage, but not at the Keeper, but to the person who could of killed his brother. He began to feel the rage spread through his stomach, and eventually felt a surge of heat angrily go through his veins. He needed to hurt something, and very quickly, or he'd take out the rage on anything near him. He knew he had to calm down, though. He couldn't go on an outrage or he'd be arrested, so he took several deep breaths, and tried to remain calm as he explained things to the Keeper better.

"Keeper... You must be severely mistaken here. I am not hunting for a person named Sasori Suzumoto... I am searching to avenge him. As you probably guessed from our similar last name, he is my brother, and unfortunately..." Ayeseru had to pause for a moment and clenched his fist. "He's dead... What I asked for is to search for the killer. I'll give you any information that I know, assuming you require it." He said all of this in a surprisingly mighty tone, which was unusual, especially towards someone he respected greatly, but when he heard his dead brothers name, his mind would stop working, and he goes into a mode where he is extremely sensitive.

Realizing what he had done, he apologized. "I'm sorry, Keeper... I shouldn't have reacted that way. I hope you can forgive me." Ayeseru simply sat down as the waitress came by, and he watched the Keeper influence her easily. He seemed to know exactly how people worked, or at least these types of people, always so easily influenced by money. It didn't take much to figure them out, even for Ayeseru who was in these years terrible with people, it actually disgusted him and slightly made him glad he didn't mingle with them.

The waitress wasn't really that useful in Ayeseru's mind, all she did was tell basic information they could probably obtain on the streets somewhere, though, the information did interest him. The big creature in particular, was the word that caught his interest. It would be a perfect time to display his strength, though it was because of that very creature that Ayeseru knew he couldn't do it on his own, which is why he asked the Keeper to come with him. He wondered what it could be, for he wanted to already start his plan on how to beat such a beast.

Ayeseru drank his orange juice silently, not really having much to say. He was a dull person at times, and that so happened to be one of those times, he didn't want to speak much, though, after what he had said to the Keeper, he felt it would be best to simply be quiet. He ate his food quickly and silently. Once he finished, he put the cup on the plate and pushed it away. He waited for the Keeper to finish up his own drink before continuing.

The keeper threw a faint smile over the table, as an answer to Ayeseru. He didn't really care about him being rude or his insubordination. It was rare that guild members spoke to him that way, the last one who did was the former champion of the Lichborne itself. Constantine Rebellion, a dark mage with great powers.
Frederick finished up his drink and started to speak again 'It's okay, being all formal during a job all the time is tiring anyway. Just remember that inside the guild I wouldn't tolerate it'
Frederick put some jewels on the table again as a payment for the drinks before he continued talking to the dragon slayer. 'Well shall we get going, according to that girl there was some sighting of a creature. So we'd better hurry to the village'

Frederick and Ayeseru travelled for another couple of hours inside the huge fissures of the mysterious canyon. And Frederick seriously doubted that people could live at ease in such a place, the mysterious canyon was known for it's dangers and unexplained pheromones. Then he remembered that he and Ayeseru also lived in a place that was surrounded by danger and other threats.
But when they reached the village they were immediately greeted by the people, and didn't show any worries at all. Not in the slightest even when the two mages approached the village elder. He was the one who had asked for help.
'We mostly don't have any troubles with the creatures lurking around here, but the sounds are coming from a cave that is quite close by our village. And you can be better safe then sorry.' said the elder with a almost teeth less smile.
'Just be careful on your way to the cave, there are giant scorpions crawling everywhere and they can be nasty if they sting you'
'Ah I see, well then I guess we will be checking out that noise for you.' said Frederick and took a small gracious bow as a sign of respect to the elder.

After that the two dark mages resumed their path towards the cave, where they could here some grunting roar echoing through the canyon. 'Hmm I think we really are dealing here with some big creature' But it appeared to be that the roar had awakened some of the creatures that were lurking between the rocks. And were coming straight at them. 'Tsk what a pain, I hoped to avoid fighting till we at least saw the creature itself'

'Monster Dice' :

Ayeseru was beginning to anticipate the Keeper's speech and movements; Ayeseru was observing him carefully, it could be the difference between life and death one day, that and Ayeseru also wanted to understand the people he was working with, so he wasn't too surprised to hear that the Keeper forgave him, though not without a warning. The Keeper finished his drink before putting jewels in the table and telling Ayeseru it was time for them to travel once more. "Alright then, Keeper, let's go..." He got off his chair and followed him.

Ayeseru followed the Keeper as they went through the terrible climate the canyon had to offer. It was incredibly hot, and Ayeseru hated how the sun light would shine on his skin. The only advantage he could think that came from it were the quantity of the shadows he had a choice to devour. They reached a small village after several hours, and immediately went to the chief. As he finished explaining the situation, the Keeper bowed and they head to the canyon. It didn't take long before they were greeted by several monsters who had the intention to kill.

So... A giant scorpion and some stone golems? This will be almost too easy... Ayeseru didn't wait at all, he went on and charged to the foes as he activated his Shifting Shadows technique, seeing that the Keeper didn't make the first move. Ayeseru went after the scorpion first, assuming that it would be the weakest and least tough opponent of the six foes that were in front of him. He turned into a shadow form as the scorpion attempted to sting him when went past through his shadow. Ayeseru solidified his arm in struck what could be considered the scorpions head, his arm taking the shape of a large lance, instantly killing it off.

One of the stone golems took the opportunity to pick up a very large boulder and throw it at Ayeseru, if it were not for his quick reaction time and Shadow Step technique, he would of been hit extremely badly. He Shadow Stepped away from the golem, and shadow stepped once more in order to attack it. Sharp objects would not work on stone too well, so he took both of his hands and shaped them into large hammer and on sync sent them both to the groin of the stone golem, crushing it, making whatever magic was holding it together disappear.

He wasn't done yet, though. As another one of the stone golems had almost managed another attack, he used his Shadow Step one last time, and turned both of his arms into large spears, piercing through the golem with two attacks and making its magic sap away. Ayeseru even impressed himself. He hadn't used much magic and had already taken care of half of the attacking group. The three remaining stone golems attempted to attack at the same time, though they were completely out of sync and their team work was terrible, so Ayeseru could easily slip his way through each and every attack.

Frederick watched as Ayeseru didn't wait a second and took out the scorpion with ease. It was an astonishing magic as he transformed into a shadow and then took out the creature with a materialized shadow lance. Frederick was impressed by the power of a dragon slayer, he had met one before. But his magic wielded an entirely different element from Ayeseru.
The dragon slayer managed to kill off two other golems that had appeared as well, leaving only three of those stone creatures alive.
Frederick saw this as an opportunity, he could feed off those golems. Giving him some extra strength for whatever they should encounter inside the cave. And so Frederick started to emit his dark aura visibly, giving him a black radiance. And from out this darkness ten black beam like tentacles rose up behind him, and moved around slow and ominously.
Frederick started to feel hungry in a way again, not like the desire to have food. But the need to feel energized, the exact purpose of this spell. His Thorns of Demise, drain the opponent of their life force while replenishing his own and magical power.

The tentacles dashed forwards phasing through or wrapping around the golems, restraining their movement and draining their life force. They tried to escape by moving around within Frederick's grasp, but without success, their lug bodies were to heavy and big to easily find their way out. And even if they did were normal humans the tentacles would wrap tighter around them. But still Frederick found the golems a weird kind of creature, they had no expression or gave any sound while being drained. But he knew their life force was getting weaker while Frederick self bathed in his newly gained power.
'Splendid, this will suffice for now'
He retracted the black beam like tentacles, and the golems fell down on the ground. Lifeless without any movements. The tentacles in the meanwhile retracted all the way back into the dark aura, that still kept emitting. Showing that the spell was still active and could be used any second if there were any new enemies that would dare to attack them.

Ayeseru watched carefully as he saw the Keeper make some tentacle-like objects out of his magic, which was indeed, darkness. The Keeper wrapped them around the remaining golems, and Ayeseru wasn't sure what quite happened to them, though he got the impression they were somehow crushed, though once the Keeper was done defeating them it didn't seem like too much force was used to restrain the targets. After the Keeper was done, Ayeseru tried to eat his magic, just to make sure if the Keeper was telling the truth, and indeed he was. Ayeseru choked when he tried to eat the magic. Ayeseru then simply ate some shadows that were created by the stones all around the canyon, making him feel as good as new.

He was impressed by the Keeper, it seemed like his title wasn't for show. Once he wrapped his tentacles around the stone golems, that was the end of them. They couldn't move, and gradually grew weaker as time went on, and the strangest thing was, the Keeper didn't even seem phased by it. That is indeed very impressive... Ayeseru didn't speak a word, and neither did the Keeper, and went on along their path. The sun was still shining bright, something Ayeseru did not appreciate at all, but he had no choice but to go through it. Their objective was a cave, or so he understood... It may be something completely different. Regardless, Ayeseru felt like the best place to check would be the cave.

He traveled silently with the Keeper, they both weren't very good at talking, and stayed quiet unless they would address each other, which happened extremely rarely. The canyon was hot and stony, not a place Ayeseru would like to live in. The climate was simply too outrageous for his liking, and he couldn't possibly imagine how people stand such conditions, though, he was already used to his room in Savage Skull. Still, he couldn't day dream. He had to stay focused for in the case that more monsters appear, or they could possibly encounter the huge monster early. Either was fine with Ayeseru, this mission was partially to impress the Keeper, so more monsters meant more fighting, which would display his power.

Both the Keeper and Ayeseru were walking for quite a while now, and nothing out of the ordinary happened. A few stones fell down, a few quick bursts of wind went by, nothing worth noting. Ayeseru began to wonder if they really had to fight some huge beast, or if the monsters they encountered earlier were the only ones that were giving the village problems. He began considering questioning it till in the distance he was a few shapes, most likely monsters. He couldn't quite define what they were exactly, since they were quite far away, but he signaled the Keeper to go slower and more quietly in order to get a jump on the beasts and have a real advantage.

There was a huge rumbling sound that shook the earth that they were standing on. 'I think we are close' Frederick was right about that, the cave they were looking for appeared before them, and it looked the cave would prove to be equally dangerous as the creature they are looking for. In front of the cave there were grey stalagmites everywhere continued into the cave to eventually dissappear in the darkness. And among those sharp objects of nature there were scorpions again, moving with ease between the stalagmites.
Luckily for Frederick there was a shadow dragon slayer. Who also could move easily between the rock formations. He himself wasn't that nimble so he would move a lot slower trying not to get cut, he didn't really want to attract other creatures with his blood. Frederick could only hope that the stalagmites eventually stopped, making the cave easier for him to move around.

The scorpions slowly moved towards the two mages, making no sounds except the clicking of their movements . Then once again the ground trembled and a powerful roar came from out the cave. Strong enough to let Frederick's cloak fly up a little. The scorpions however suddenly backed away with, clearly scared of whatever was hiding in the ominous looking cave. Frederick however wondered how deep this creature was lurking. It couldn't be too deep if it's roar reached all the way up here. But then again he didn't know yet how grotesque the creature he was facing truly is.
