Once again in the small humble town of Altera, the now black haired maiden simply walked the streets with little care in the world itself. How come she found herself back in this place even though she planned to move on ahead? Well, there was a certain flyer she managed to find on the streets, one that intrigued her quite a bit. So while her father was preparing everything they needed to leave in the nearby Inn, she swiftly moved across the old looking streets in search of a very specific house. She was glad this town was still doing alright, considering a local hospital burned down not too long ago. Perhaps that was yet another reason for her to stay for just few days more than usual, so that she could see the aftermath of it all. She already chipped in by helping gather herbal medicine that helped those who were injured in the flames, but unfortunately that was about all she could actually do. Not exactly well versed in healing or medicine at all, she just hoped that the people of this place could pull through on their own.

Surely they could. After all, this was hardly the first disaster that happened to this place. And it likely wasn't the last either. In any case, the disguised girl finally found herself standing in front of a house that could be described as... strange, to say the least. Even looking from afar, it was oddly crooked and tilted to the side, leaving one wondering how come it hasn't collapsed on it's own yet. The front looked somewhat normal, safe for the fact that it was horridly unkempt. The local flora was even starting to reclaim the wall around the door too. Well, as long as it was possible for one to enter and leave, all was probably well. This was the home of a known alchemist, or at least known by the locals, named Decoctor. An odd name that accompanied it all. Apparently he required help with gathering of very specific materials and ingredients for his potions. Seeing how the girl already gathered something for this place, there was really no reason for her to not help with this as well before she would leave. But this time, she also wondered of someone else would maybe show up for this contract, seeing how the flyers were in public spaces and available for anyone who would walk by.

"Well, even if not, I could always ask father for help. He's probably already done with the packing and mighty bored in that empty room..."

Somehow, the female failed to realize she was actually talking to herself out loud. Perhaps this whole adventure already started to affect her sanity in some way. Or more likely, it was just a trait she had developed over the year in Fiore when she kinda felt lonely most of the time, especially after all of her relationships kinda started crashing to the ground. But oh well, no point in trying to figure things like that now. Still curious, she placed her hand on the door handle and pushed the wooden frame open.

“Hmh… this guy sounds like needing some hands,” Imai mumbled as he looked on the flyer. They were filling the places nowadays, everywhere written the scientist’s name Decoctor and his seek of help. Well, why wouldn’t he answer to his call? He was a Sabertooth mage! With that in mind, he quickly launched himself off of the chair back in the guild hall as his eyes shined. “Ohh, hell no, that job is mine…!!!” he roared towards the other guildmates who seemingly had their eyes on the same flyers as well. They were all eager to go on the job, but the scientist only asked for two pairs of extra hands… so it turned into a brawl. In the midst of the heat, though, Imai leapt upon each person’s head and dashed towards the front door, leaping out of the guild hall with a laugh as Sei followed after him.

It had been a while since his team got back from the gloomy village. A lot of adventurous thoughts had rushed through his adventure’s lust of a mind, and he expected nothing but wonder and paranormal, but instead only got the paranormal part. Now, days after the return, he still had scars from that event that shivered his head by the mere memory of her terrifying, little face… he had to focus, though. The brawls back at the guild could still be heard from afar. However, he was far out of sight, so they had to have fun with those flyers. “Hehehehehe, this’ll be great, Sei..!” he spoke to the little alien as it simply looked back at him with that innocent face. Then, it grabbed back onto his back and took a nap as Imai sprinted across the roads and into the outskirts, only to disappear into the far lands of Fiore…

He didn’t know that there was that long to Seven. In fact, he just realized the distance from the Ace of Spades to the wonderful land of wonder and wildlife when some random, elder lady addressed him with the words: “What in the world are you doing out here, boy? Do you plan to walk all the way across the road and to Seven?” Imai was clueless about her blabber and about the distance, but after a quick conversation, he immediately sought for a quicker way to get to Seven. He had his passport and all, but if he walked all the way to the large road that went straight to Seven, then… that meant that he wasted time! Damn it, I have to hurry!!!, he thought. Looking around, he seemed to have arrived at an old, closed military; large tanks, camouflaged cars and other objects were apparent. Of course, he went for the catapult and from that point on, only God knew what would happen to him…

About 20 meters away from Decoctor’s door, a falling star would crash. The crater was no larger than 3 meters in radius, and within the bluish, boiling nebula, a silhouette was visible. That silhouette became more and more apparent as the star fog faded down, while Imai’s crimson hair began to stand out more and more. In a few moments, the star mage raised up and looked around to see if anyone else other than the black-haired girl open the door, question marks popped up on his head. Was she here for the request as well? Worried, he began charging through the door with a lifted fist, roaring: "Sorry for being late, but I'm here for the request, everyone..!!!" It ended with a tough bump where Imai bounced back, realizing that a rather large, monkey-looking being stood right in front of him...

Hearing a giant roaring crash was about the last thing the girl expected when she opened the door and walked through it. Not even getting any time to appreciate the interior which was quite warm for the state of the building, walls adorned by antique furniture and tables that were overflowing with different formulas and alchemist equipment. Turning back towards the entrance, it wouldn't take too long before she spotted the seemingly young boy rush through and stop inside, calling out and apologizing for being late. The flyers Leila saw did not specify any actual time, so those words somewhat flew over her head as she stared at him absentmindedly. Was he the source of that sound? Curious, she would somewhat ignore him as she moved around his body to peek through the wooden frame. And sure enough, that crater was still there with townspeople already gathering around to examine it, some terrified while others entertained beyond belief. And judging by the few words she had heard from the small crowd, people quickly started blaming Decoctor and one of his failed experiments again. Just arrived and already causing trouble for the employer? This boy seemed like he would be something. Leaning back inside the building while closing the door carefully behind her, the black haired maiden smiled and seemingly finally acknowledged her new partner.

"Well, you certainly know how to make an entrance. Name's Leila, a traveling mage. And you must be Ser Decoctor, yes?"

Her eyes shifted from the boy to the somewhat gray man who stood further in the room, his arms crossed as he patiently waited for everything to calm down. His appearance truly was unique, comical even. But the girl learned on her travels to never judge a book by it's cover. Alchemists were somewhat rare these days and thus should be expected. Even if it looked like this one was known more for his failed potions and experiments than successful ones. Coughing out a bit, he removed his hands from his chest only to rest them on his hips, puffing out his chest as if in pride before speaking himself

"That is correct! I'm glad my popularity is grand enough for me to not have to introduce myself! Now, I assume you two are here to help me construct this new decoction, yes? Most brilliant! I require vampire's blood; lesser one will suffice, ethereal dust from a wraith, flesh of a flesh-eating ghoul and finally, ethereal essence from a Nightwraith! You should be able to find all of those beasts somewhere around during night, this place is as nasty as them I tell you! Any questions?!"

Well, he certainly spew all that information at them without hesitating one bit. And while Leila had quite a bit of experience with mythical beasts, she was unsure about the boy who's name she did not know yet, so her gaze rested on him and the expression he would be making after hearing all that. Perhaps some explaining would be required later. Honestly, having some company for this contract was very unexpected, yet very pleasant. Not often would you run into other mages in places like this. Big cities, sure. But this town was in the middle of nowhere and it's reputation reflecting the thugs that casually walked down the streets in broad daylight. And while the boy didn't exactly look like the most powerful of mages on the first look, she did feel magic radiating from him. He didn't seem like no pushover. Encounters like these made her wonder if the disguise she had on right now was even needed too. Would he recognize her if she looked like her usual self? Or would it make no difference at all? Well, there was probably no point in thinking about questions like that anyway. There was a good chance they would do this contract together and then they would never meet again. But if they would, well... then she would figure it out then.

It seemed that the others from Sabertooth hadn’t made it before Imai, in which he celebrated with a grin. It would’ve been an even huger mess if another Sabertooth mage had arrived; already back at the guild, the scene turned out to look like a rip-off from a thriller with punches, knees to the soft points and screams of drunken ballads. Ohh, it was marvelous for the Heavenly Body user to get out safe and sound. He did take a risk at joining the group back then in that time of the day where the beverages’ prices were halved for the mages. Now, looking at the black-haired girl close the door after she apparently speculated over the crater that the red-haired boy left behind, he felt a little out of place. Even the townsfolk showed up to look at the hole in the ground.

“… Ah, well,” he let out by her comment. The girl’s name was Leila; a fine name that he hadn’t heard of before. “I-I’m Imai. Greetings.” Sei suddenly stuck its head out from behind Imai’s back, because sleeping wasn’t really an option with the commotion outside. It spectated Imai’s point of view as the grey man stood further away inside the house… damn, he looked so funny. Then again, it was bad manners to think that people looked funny judged by their appearances, so Imai straightened up a bit as the larger man spoke. He sounded prideful and went straight to the case after assuming his popularity amongst the mages; vampire blood - yes, oh yes, this was already making Imai’s blood boil - as well as other ingredients such as ethereal dust from a wraith, flesh from a certain ghoul and essence from another type of wraith. Those were all recipes from beings beyond the trivial wildlife from where Imai lived, and the mere thought of having to encounter them made his face sparkle. “F-For real?! We can meet all those species this one night?!” he immediately spoke out.

His very soul burned for adventure, and not the kind of adventure around one’s own world, but that of unknown wonder and unsolved mystery that resided in worlds beyond what the human eye could see. Living the majority of his young life at his hometown Shirotsume, he never got in any personal contact with the mysteries of this world except through guests that came to the town once in a while. He did learn his magic somewhere, so that would explain it. He turned his gaze outside to see that it was still bright, and the monsters would first show up around nighttime, so he had to wait yet another couple of hours… it annoyed him a little. “Oh, well; are there any other things that we can help with, mr. Decoctor?” he asked. He wanted to kill time somehow, so that his meeting with the wraiths would approach him faster and faster, “… I-I mean, I’m not really sure if I want to contribute as a test subject, but perhaps you could show me some of your experiments! I’ve heard very little about you, but you sure look like a splendid scientist..!”

This boy seemed like an interesting one. And despite his rather flashy entrance, his introductions were quiet and somewhat humble. He also appeared to be very excited the moment he heard about everything they had to do. To some, having to defeat so many creatures would appear as a chore. Leila herself was indifferent, as she grew accustomed to this during her time in Seven and even before she became a proper mage one year ago. At least this meant that she wasn't stuck with someone who would let her do all the work. Not that she would mind that all too much, but it was always nice to have someone along who could alleviate some of the burden. Leaning in closer to him, her amber eyes shined perhaps a bit eerily.

"You're new to this land, aren't you? These creatures are rather common around these parts, not really mythical all. Very real instead, a threat to regular humans who cannot defend against them. I'm not sure what you're imagining, but the ones we'll be hunting are on the border of sentience, beasts that are driven by hunger for blood and flesh. Won't be meeting no fancy vampire folk tonight, only starved monsters."

It was a fair warning for the young lad, one accompanied by a firm nod from Decoctor. In this nation, every creature was capable of communication. But that didn't mean a complete peace. Some of these creatures didn't manage to control themselves and fell prey to their own instincts and greedy desires. That was the kind of beast they would be hunting for the ingredients. But, well... if the boy hadn't seen anything outside of Fiore then this probably would be an interesting experience nonetheless. For now, the black haired maiden would lean against one of the walls with hands crossed in front of her chest, a small sigh escaping between her lips. It really was still ways from the sunset. In response to Imai's question, Decoctor flashed a somewhat concerning smile and produce a strange blue glowing potion out of his pocket.

"Ah, I knew one of you would be interested. This is a potion I brew just before you arrived! Behold it's power!"

    "Wait, isn't that... oh dear..."

Before anything could be done, the cork that was keeping the bottle sealed was gone and an unnatural blue mist filled the room. Mere contact with it was strong enough to make anyone fall asleep nearly instantly. And before they all woke up, it was middle of the night outside. Was that intentional on the alchemist's side? Who knows...

He was smiling, exciting, imagining all the things that would occur around here. His fists couldn’t stop clenching with the excitement and he thought far from taking a nap. If he had the chance to face these creatures out here in the night, then screw sleep! He would stay awake for months if possible, that’s just how eager that he was. While standing there, awaiting Decoctor’s next action, the other participant Leila leaned in and asked him if he was knew around here. “Honestly, yes, I think so… can’t believe that I completely forgot that. It is my first time..!” he replied. However, listening to her words, she explained that those mythical creatures weren’t as mythical around these areas. Less mystic, more threatening; that was mainly what she indicated. There went a few seconds of silence for Imai to sink the obvious information in; sweet of her to warn a kiddo like him, but it wouldn’t be his first time dealing with the dark side of super-nature. He’d done it at max… perhaps once? Did that little girl count as well? Also, kiddo? Weren’t she only a couple years older here?

“… A-As long as they bleed yellow, I guess that I’m fine,” he replied. Using an uncommon pun from his hometown where he indicated that ‘bleeding yellow’ referred to illogical creatures. He wasn’t picky when it came to monsters and ethereal creatures; a nasty, soul-eating ghoul could do the trick as well. That was why when Decoctor nodded after her warning, question marks popped off Imai’s head. Unanswered, he simply listened to Decoctor’s exclaiming words of a powerful potion that he just finished brewing. That would reignite Imai’s flame once again! “Really? Let’s check it out..!” he responded, but before he could even see the transparent glass bottle, his body collapsed and went out. On the floor, he laid dormant in an instant until sundown…

… The night had covered the once blue sky as Imai woke up again. Decoctor was found knocked out by the very same potion as well, while the townsfolk outside were long gone. His vision was blurred as if he just slept through the very same night, while he looked over to the wall. There was Leila, knocked to sleep as well. “H-Hey… Leila… Leila…” Imai repeated whilst pushing her arm back and forth, “I got some bottles… let’s go..!”

Leila could only title her head to the side in very similar questioning manner to Imai when he said the phrase "bleed yellow". Though she didn't bother to ask what exactly he meant with his cryptic words, figuring it was a saying from afar she had yet to learn the meaning of. And she would eventually, as a true wanderer. For now, they just had to do what Decoctor asked them to do, hunt down few beasts and wraiths. There was actually something that the now black-haired maiden noticed in this room. While subtle, the arrangement of all the equipment wasn't simply chaotic as normal people would assume. It was set up in a way that would allow for quick packing up. Seemed that the alchemist was a bit of a wanderer himself. Which made the girl unsure if she would be glad or disappointed to meet him out in the fields. Well, not that she really had to be thinking about that. After all, she wasn't thinking about anything soon enough. Only the force applied to her hand managed to finally wake her, as she opened her eyes and grabbed her head with the other hand. Maybe she hit her head while falling asleep, or maybe it was just the potion, but she felt a hangover stronger than one gets after drinking the whole night. But after few groans and moans, it went away along with the drowsiness.

"Yeah... yeah, time to go. This is why you never trust alchemy..."

Trying to shake it all off, she stepped out of the door following her partner and stretch on the fresh air, something that helped a great deal with the waking up part. Now capable of actually working once again, she closed the door behind them to ensure that no one would take advantage of the sleeping man and steal something from the insecure house. Looking at the city now, it truly fell silent. All the proper folk were long hidden inside of their homes, only few lights still penetrating the glass windows. Occasional patrol of guards was the only life on the streets right now. Or so it seemed. There was however a shadow stalking these brave men. A shadow that would wait for the to split apart and then feed to it's prey's bodily fluid - blood sucking vampire beast. And as Leila explained it before, this creature could not be further away from the vampires that regular people imagined. Looking like a terrific abomination, mixture of a bat and deformed human. it was actually very surprising to her that a lesser vampire would be brave enough to prowl streets of any town or village. These guards must have been more cowards than actual warriors. In any case, they had to lure the beast out of it's shadows and then confront it.

"Alright. The vampire is definitely around, You can feel it if you focus enough. But it's magical signature might be too weak for us to actually track, so we might need to get creative if we want to lure it out. Just be careful..."

Decoctor's decoction Empty Re: Decoctor's decoction

    Post by Imai-chi 9th June 2017, 3:42 am

”This is why you never trust alchemy…” It was the first time that Imai had to do with any alchemist ever, so he couldn’t but tilt his head by the statement. Decoctor didn’t appear that bad at all; besides, despite the accident, the potion kind of worked. Not exactly for its purpose, but it worked, nonetheless. “I guess they’re wandering outside now…” he spoke, referring to the beasts that they were going to harvest the ingredients from. It was, despite being nighttime, quite bright outside due to the clear sky and the countless stars shining down at them. The moon was cut in half, resembling the half of a cheese. Sei enjoyed the atmosphere by floating around with less than no care, while Imai kept looking upwards. The stars kept distracting him, but it was so bright and clear… he could fathom several constellations from that one spot that he stood on. “Ahh, it’s so pretty…” he mumbled out loud. After a moment, he quickly pulled himself together and began having his eyes around the surface, scanning the area for any vampire. Given by his memory, that was their first target, and why wouldn’t they show themselves in the night?

All the other townsfolks appeared to have sought refuge in their homes, so Imai was left outside with his companions and the village’s guards. Not long before Leila mentioned it could he feel the being’s presence quite clearly; it was hiding in the darker corners of the village, waiting for an opening to go out. It was getting closer to them, though… but his mind strayed by Leila’s comment. “E-Eh? Oh, you’re having trouble sensing it?” He was oblivious to her magical sensory compared to his, of course, but he already had a clear image of its position, “It must be pretty paranoid… trying to hide itself.” He went silent for a couple seconds, feeling the sweat trickle down his cheeks rather comically. It was hiding somewhere, just waiting to ambush them from any blind angle… he couldn’t stand the suspense. However, if he snapped, then his magic would most likely chase it away and ruin the objective. He had to hold back a little longer…

That was when he picked up his telescope and suddenly advanced towards a track in the middle of two houses. Due to the roofs and the location, the area was darker than in the street, supporting the possibility of the vampire’s location. Not only that, but he knew from when Leila spoke up that it was heading for this place; he still questioned her sensory issues when he slammed the telescope on its head. “Gotcha!” he spoke up, trying to get Leila to arrive as quickly as possible; the beast was covered in shadows, so its distinguish appearance was blurred by a black contour, black skin and overall blackness as if it was some kind of stickman. It hissed, obviously, and struggled to push Imai off, but he had grabbed its ears firmly to not let it go away. “Alright, I-I think I got-“ he was about to assure when it had enough and unleashed its wings; in a brief second, both the vampire and Imai were about to soar upwards, “Crap, it’s getting away..!” He didn’t equip any knives or any other sharp objects but his nails, so he hoped that Leila had an efficient way to extract blood from it…

The stars were quite beautiful indeed. It was unfortunate that they did not have the luxury of just staring at them right now, for the time until morn was ticking away. And with the first touch of the Sun on this village, all the beast they had to find would disappear into their hiding holes, wherever those might be. It was also possibly due to the fact that Leila herself gazed at the skies very often, but such view appeared somewhat mundane to her. She was a traveler, one that had seen most of the Earthland once already. And there were definitely places where you could see the night's sky even more clear than right here. Such places were quite rare and difficult to get to, but they were generally worth it. Sadly, none even remotely close to where they were right now. With a sigh, the black-haired maiden would cross her hands in front of her chest as she looked at entranced Imai.

"I know the stars are beautiful, but try to wait a little bit longer. I can teach you some of the unique constellations that you can only see in Seven later if you want as a reward for helping me here, but right now we need to focus on our target."

While the beast they were hunting right now was no Royal Vampire, it was still a vampire nonetheless. Such creatures could very easily hide their magical signature and presence in the shadows, some even completely. That meant they could become quite literally invisible to any sensory-type magic. Which in turn made tracking them rather difficult at times. So Leila wanted to draw the beast out by having it smell some of her or Imai's blood. That was the plan anyway, as she pulled out a golden sword hilt. There was no blade, but the weapon itself was quite magical and capable of taking any form the user desired once fed with actual magic. But before she could even cut into her own skin to lure the enemy out, her partner already somehow managed to find it. Which was honestly beyond surprising to her, but instead of questioning it, she tried to sprint over and help. It didn't take very long before they took to the skies, however. Leila could have done the same, as her magic allowed for it. But at the same time, she wanted to minimize any chance that people would recognize who she was. Honestly, that paranoia was completely out of place and only getting in the way. Unfortunately, there was no one around who could explain that to the Eden's witch. And so, the hilt in her hand swiftly transformed into a beautiful bow of gold, the string made out of pure blue magical energy, just like the arrow that she was suddenly pulling back. And with one precise shot, she would fire. The arrow went right through the flying vampire, hitting several of its organs as it went right through and sending it to the ground. Thankfully they were not all that high, which meant Imai should have had at least reasonably comfortable landing. Finally catching up the the place where they landed, she would pull out one of the vials and start collecting the blood sample.

"I'm not sure how you managed that, but good job. The guards will probably reward us later for disposing of the threat too once we get to the end of this. I'm sure this beast had it's share of killing in this town already."

Okay, the vampire thingy was doing some pretty tense resistance. Not much time passed before Imai and his friend here began spinning around the black sky, causing the star mage to have a stomach-ache of his life. It tried to shake him off itself, but despite the struggles, Imai did well in holding it on the lower level. The stars above him began appearing below, to the side and everywhere else as they soared around, while he awaited Leila’s next move. “H-H-H-u-u-u-u-r-r-y-y-y-y…” he begged with gasps for air, hopefully loud enough for Leila to hear it. The beast began trying to reach its claws towards him, but given his love for his skin, Imai quickly dashed his knuckles into its face, proclaiming: “No! No, don’t you dare..!” Its teeth could be seen standing out as it took the hits from Imai straight to its head which would probably leave headaches for a long time. It also pissed the monster off, so it would charge across the village’s roads with Imai riding on its back. His screams along with tears rolling out of his overwhelmed eyes could be heard crossing the streets, definitely not suited for a stealthy objective. Damn that thing.

He needed to get it down, otherwise Leila wouldn’t be able to reach it any way. His ordinary punches didn’t seem to do the trick, so he decided to do it more primitively; just simply push it down using his jet-like spell. Once he grabbed both sides of its torsos with his hands, Imai pointed his body downwards and almost balanced on top of the vampire. It was just about to turn around to try and attack, but he quickly went: “Falling Star!” And as soon as those words were spoken, the beast was suddenly crashing down, approaching the surface thanks to Imai’s Heavenly Body Magic. It came out as a huge, blue light that covered both him and the vampire, supporting the downfall of both of them. He would try and approach Leila in order to let her get the sample of its blood, but he didn’t see her bow. Surprisingly, it went straight through the monster’s body, shocking Imai into leaving his grab and falling straight to a flat street. Once landed, his body had made a dust cloud in his exact size and form on the ground, while he was a few meters inside of it. His bluish mana blurred inside the dust cloud, soon disappearing.

Shaking off the dust from his face, Imai made his way to Leila and the fainted being of the night. She complimented his so-called ‘good job’ of struggling with the beast, but he took it with a blushed smile. “Thanks..!” Although, during all that, he didn’t realize that Sei had gone off his back a long time ago, noticing the little alien alongside Leila. It quickly made its way back to its favorite back, resting ever so peacefully. “Alright… we go the blood now. And… ohh man, that was fun! I can’t wait to fight the next ones!” His clenched knuckles lifted up combined with his grin clearly showed his excitement for all of this, but truth be told, he couldn’t remember the next targets. However, during his screaming, it did attract company… just not company from among the living kinds…

She had to sigh, but she would also continue smiling after that ordeal. Who would have thought that a lesser vampire would give them so much trouble? But in the end, they emerged victoriously and obtained what they had to, which was really what mattered most. And what more, she got to see the boy's magic shine during his intense ride. Heavenly body magic, it certainly went well with the night's sky that was looming above their heads. With a little click-like sound, the girl's ethereal bow would slowly fade away as the still golden sword hilt remained in her hand, reflecting the moon's light ever so gently. While she did not need her weapon right away, she had this feeling that it would come in handy quite soon. After all, their little hunt had just begun.

"I'm glad you enjoyed it, but the rest of our targets probably won't allow us such feelings. Wraiths, in general, are a pain to deal with, while ghouls stick to the ground. And speaking of which..."

Leila would look over her shoulder, as she felt something too. A faint glow that was emitted from behind a nearby corner, suddenly vanishing as her eyes were moved in its direction. It seemed that the commotion really did capture the interest of more than just humans that were still awake. And judging by the glow, it was probably the wraith that seemed to be roaming the streets at night.

"While it might sound silly trying to fight a ghost, many are actually perfectly susceptible to magic. So as long as you use spells or magical items, you shouldn't have any trouble hitting them. More importantly, they- watch out!"

Suddenly cutting herself out and pushing Imai to the side, she herself performed a sidestep as an ethereal claw suddenly shot out of the ground, swiping at her. And while her flesh wasn't injured at all, her outfit was not slightly torn as she managed to dodge only barely. Emerging fully from the floor, the wraith was now on full display, it's mutilated purple body glowing in an eerie aura.

"More importantly, they can move through solid objects that are not infused with any magic at all, so be careful!"

She finished her thought as the golden handle in her hand grew a little in its size, a sudden wave of energy bursting forth and creating a long straight blade of many colors, almost as if it was part of the night's sky. Well, at least they didn't have to go far and search for this one, so that was a bonus.

Wiping dust off his clothes, Imai looked over at the successful, first part of the mission; they gathered the sufficient amount of blood from a vampire. When you thought it through like that, it sounded paranormal and adventurous, in which he slowly formed a smile due to have lived through such an experience. However, they had just begun their hunt, and the night had just begun as well. Given that their next target was something that Imai had surprisingly heard of before, ghosts. Wraiths, to be exact… or wasn’t that later? Either way, the threat was to be expected as a kind of ghoul, in which Imai had already grabbed his telescope. However, would it even work against a being that travels between the world of the living and the world of the dead? Considering that, he slowly let go of the telescope and left it on its place, instead relying on his other weapon; the spin top called Pegasus. A magical item would most likely work against magical beings, and ghosts weren’t really excluded. “Aww… it was just getting fun,” he moaned after Leila’s warning. Yes, the monsters had other thoughts, but they could just roll with it, couldn’t they?

Leila confirmed their weakness; magic. “Neat! So if we just try and rely on our magical stuff, we’ll do fine…” he replied to her. That was when he put Pegasus on the launcher, readying it for a spin-off. Leila was just about to mention something else, but her warning came in beforehand, causing Imai to be pushed to the side by her hand. Shocked and with widened eyes, Imai tried to stand up on his feet in a hurry. He had felt the magic before, but that was during their speech; he had no time to react. It was one fast bastard, there. “The heck!?!?!” he burst out frightened, watching the giant embodiment of shadowy aura, “T-T-That thing… it’s huger than I imagined.” The dark presence and ghastly expressions reminded him of Lilith, that girly, little bastard who put hell through that poor boy. It made him shake a little in his boots, but that decreased by making distance from its huge claws. Hearing its solid weaknesses, Imai decided to launch his spinning top immediately, watching it penetrate the wraith in an instant, leaving a blue track behind like a light beam. “Some proper fire should do the trick..!” he spoke, watching the effects of magic against a being like that ghastly wraith. However, it charged directly towards Leila with the hole through its belly, seemingly not that phased by the attack. While doing so, Imai commanded the spinning top to catch up to it in a hurry…

Looking at it like this, Imai's choice of weaponry seemed quite... unusual? Yes, certainly unusual. But as long as it would be effective, there was really no need to worry about how his arsenal looked like. Though it was quite fitting to his somewhat child-like behavior and appearance. Or at least that was how Leila herself perceived the boy, deciding to stay silent about it in order to not agitate the youth. Especially once he performed his attack, quite literally tearing the ghost apart. Or at least creating a new hole in him. It was a good shame that ethereal beings like this did not care for such wounds and could keep on fighting easily after receiving them. Strangely enough, it also seemed to go after Leila first, rather than the one who injured it. In the end, it didn't quite matter. The disguised nature witch had her magical blade that was perfectly usable against an enemy like this, allowing her to block several of his incoming attacks with quite the ease. And since this one appeared to be a brute relying mostly on raw force rather than speed, she even managed to get a hit in, a horizontal slash on his chest. This forced the ghost to back away some, as it was starting to lose magic required to keep it's physical, or at least semi-physical form.

"Good, just one more push and he'll be finished! Get rea... what is that?!"

As he backed away, the ghost swiftly moved his clawed hands in front of his massive body, conjuring a magical circle. It was using... magic? This was actually first time Leila saw a being like that use proper spells! And what it did was open a rift gate, teleportation type spell. As if tearing the world itself apart, there was now a portal to elsewhere in front of the specter, from inside of it a huge creature of flesh and muscle falling onto the floor. It was the ghoul that was said to prowl around the town! Did  their enemy seriously just summon in their next target? While this made it once again easier on them in terms of searching, it forced the black-haired maiden to retreat a bit, as she would not win against two enemies like this. She needed support from her partner.

"Can you finish off the ghost before he summons in another one? I'll try to keep the Ghoul busy until then, so you can launch a surprise attack at it from behind once you're done with the ghost as well!"

The Pegasus braked up heavily by Leila’s handling of the situation that had changed against her. Her blade cut its body like a sword, and its magical prowess forced the abomination further back from them, while Imai picked up the Pegasus item. “Way to go, there..!” he commented as he ran up to stand beside her, watching how the ghost had seemingly taken the battle a little more carefully from now on. Or so, it seemed like, as it began resting its claws around the front of its belly as if it was preparing something… and it sure was, yeah. It wasn’t trying to cut him down, nor was it preparing a surprise attack with the fangs against Leila. It was simply resting them there, while magic formed between them, manifesting what looked like another black hole. His eyes were about to drop from the scene as some huge pile of ghastly meat dropped from the black hole that was still open.

“… Eugrh… I think I got to puke,” he warned while holding a hand onto his mouth; the scene was too gore for someone like him. He did shake his surprise off his head again, and knowing that there were two targets now, they needed to divide. Meanwhile, the ghost seemed to prepare for another one of those meat bags, and Imai wouldn’t want any more of that eerie stuff ganging up on them! Charging forward, his body got cloaked in a light-blue spectrum that pushed him forward as he tackled into the ghost, feeling the forces of gravity change around the sphere. He pointed his hand towards it while struggling to get free of the surprised ghost’s wrath, seemingly nullifying the black hole’s manifestation as he knew a spell or two that focused around the manipulation of gravity. Now, the ghost’s eerie body had gotten a hold on Imai, in which he furiously punched chunks of its body to oblivion using his light magic. “Y-Yeah, yeah, I’ll hurry!” he assured Leila, “Watch out for the meat..!”
